Please do something, I'm tired of waiting on the ground, because killer won't satisfy with 3 kills they want more…

    Auto-pop gens

    Absolutely horrible idea. No.

    Basekit Unbreakable

No, just equip Unbreakable if you're getting slugged for 4K so consistently, clearly you'd get value out of it.

So you rather waste all of hour time wheres one is slugged on the ground while the killer is finding the last guy? gotcha i'm almost done quitting the game because of this. so you wont have to worry about me dictating you guys for playing the game properly

    Waste time

If I want BP, it isn't a waste of my time. If you think your time is wasted, because you're in the end of a losing match, then perhaps DBD isn't the game for you.

    I'm almost done quitting

Don't let the metaphorical door hit you on the way out.

    Playing the game properly

Your way of playing is the only proper one, huh? Speak of selfishness.

The hatch does not result in lost mrr and does not result in a loss, its not fair that you do that.

It's entirely his decision, who are you to dictate how he wants to play or not? And if we want to get into what's fair, how is it fair that somebody doing nothing gets to escape and get a fat stack of BP for the trouble? Hardly fair.

  • Not according to the videos you posted and the original Choy posted about this subject. He made it very clear it's if you stream.

The game is not built around survivors 'escaping' chases. You're expected to give up your position to the killer, then lead them on a long chase before you're eventually hooked.

With regards to the main topic: Boil Over is an atrocity that should never have had its original buff. It's incredibly bad for gameplay and should stay in a relatively unusable state, unless it gets a completely different function. The other two did not deserve nerfs though.

The game isn't built around Victims "escaping" chases

Correct, Mr. Strawmanner, it's built around Victims staying alive. Not being caught (i.e. escaping chases) is what the game is built around. Not being caught is one way to not die, not being found is another, but you cannot do just one or the other.

You're expected to give up your position to the Killer

    Simply incorrect.

  • @sinkra said:

Adrenaline, Boil Over and Distortion nerfs were the last straw for me. Distortion has one single charge while killers get to wall hack all game with constant aura reading JFL. You can't even hide anymore in a game that was based on stealth. Survivors are just supposed to be playthings for a killer's ego and not allowed to have counterplay?

These devs don't understand how to make a game fun. I remember an interview with a dev in another game who said the aim should be to make all abilities feel powerful, because it's FUN and balance each other out. Gutting any useful perk to the point no one with any sense would take it is effectively removing it from the game.

    Distortion has one single charge

Distortion starts with 1 token*, fixed for you.

You can get up to 2 tokens, but you must get into chases. Learn to escape chases, like you're supposed to as a Victim.

  • That's very unfortunate. Good thing I'm not a streamer, I guess.

  • Read what I wrote again.

"but don't get yourself up unless it's very end game or the Killer is actually trying to slug for 4K"

  • @GoingToGetDwight said:

I have a feeling the mori update will kill the game, because the hatch is not even allow anymore due to the killer not bothering to put the third survivor on the hook and just look for the last person, tunnelling is on the rise like every game now. i don't think this is good for survivors in general. the game is way too killer sided now days please dont mention swf they are irreverent.

Due to the Killer not bothering to put the third Victim on the hook

The term 'slugging' is common nomenclature for putting a Victim in the "dying state" for an extended amount of time.

Slugging for 4K refers to your described scenario, with the Killer looking for the 4th Victim without hooking 3rd, slugged Victim.

It can occur, but isn't as common as many on this forum makes it sound like. It happened before 4K free mori, and it will happen again even if free mori is removed.

If you do not wish to be slugged, bring the Victim perk "Unbreakable", but don't get yourself up unless it's very end game or the Killer is actually trying to slug for 4K. 😀

The issue is that bringing anti-tunnel perks only benefits myself… and I cant really shout through the screen at my SoloQ teammates to magically get them to put on anti-tunnel perks, there is the pre-game chat, but only PC players can see it. This being said, if it gets down to a 3 v 1, especially in SoloQ, there isnt much I can do.

    Only benefits myself

It would appear you didn't read my post thoroughly, or simply don't know the properties of the perks I listed, so I'll explain:

Borrowed Time: Extends unhook Endurance and Haste on the unhooked Victim by 10 seconds (This benefits only them, sure).

Reassurance: Pauses the hook progress for 30 seconds + Stuggle skill checks if in hook stage 2 (Also only benefits them).

Off the Record: After YOU being unhooked, you gain the following for 80 seconds; Endurance, Killer can't read your aura, and no grunts of pain (This ONLY benefits you).

Decisive Strike: After YOU are unhooked, if the Killer picks you up within 60 seconds of the unhook, you can escape and stun the Killer for 4 seconds (This ONLY benefits you).

As you can see, there's 2 perks for team, 2 perks for you. You can make it just for yourself by replacing Borrowed Time and Reassurance with ex. Dead Hard and Overcome, or you can make your perks just team by replacing Off the Record and Decisive Strike with ex. 'We'll Make It' and Kindred.

It's no use, it's just no use to play survivor anymore without friend, or without a big full squad (an SFW) since this joke come basekit in this game
ALL MY ######### MATCH I get as survivor, just a enormous slugfest, there's no point playing survivor, I'm just going to play 100% killer in this scenario, why bother?
Each patch become more and more a nightmare for soloQ, and the dev, or the people on behavior, seems to having no ######### to give to people, even when they say otherwise
I can understand when I stomp survivor and let them play, become nice as killer, they seem's ######### happy if all game they get is like the ten I get today (plus the game I get the other day who are litteraly the same #########)

That's what you wanted behavior? A Sandbox where one role is a punching ball for whoever? Okey, go one, continue like that, you gonna get more and more people upset, you don't want to interact with people anymore, seems what you were saying in the past was just a lying "listening to the community"
    What a joke

Slugging was, slugging is, and slugging will be. The end mori didn't change any of that, regardless of what some of you people delude yourselves into believing.

If end mori goes away, I'll still slug for 4K, if I feel like it. If I manage to have only 2 Victims at 2+ gens remaining, I can damn well do as I please. Sometimes I'm nice and let them up to repair, but as Killer, it's my decision and there's nothing wrong with going for 4K. End mori is just a tiny bit of spice for that victory round.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

I took a break halfway through the event and Im going back to grind through all the stuff before the event ends… and it is absolutely miserable.

Ive had several games where the Killer hard tunnels out a player to remove them as fast as possible, often leaving us with 1 Dead at 3 - 4 Generators remaining, and then they just starting hard slugging the entire team or continuing to tunnel but with the next person they hook.

Earlier I had a game where a P100 Wraith hard-tunneled a Mikaela at the start of the game, and then proceeded to slug the entire team, bled me out while doing nothing but ringing the bell and nodding, but hooked me right before I fully bled out just to spend the rest of the time hitting me on hook.

The game before that I had a really good Dracula player but they ended up tunneling 1 player out, slugged 2 AFK players, and was hell-bent on killing me by any means necessary, only to crap-talk in the post-game chat despite the fact I had literally everything working against me.

Game after game after game it has just been miserable, I had been bleed out several times, hard-tunneled before I cant even work on my archive several times, and while part of it is a skill issue, I really have no idea what to do, I just kind of feel hopeless.

If you keep encountering tunneling, this is what you do:

Equip some anti-tunnel perks: Borrowed Time, Reassurance (if you have it), Off the Record, Decisive Strike (the last two for you, more than team).

And remember this tip: There's no harm in letting your fellow Victim hang on the hook during the first hook; it's 70 seconds these days, before it goes into the next stage, so just let them dangle a bit (and hope they're not mentally stunted and attempt to self-unhook).

Lastly, remember to not take the game too seriously. Go in there with whatever objective you have, it's what you're there for, and consider how you may best complete said objective. Do not worry so much about gens being finished, do not worry about escaping, if truly your only goal is to complete your objective, whatever it may be.

Why not just show the survivors auras the whole game. This game is unplayable as a solo survivor now with all the exposure perks. No more money will be wasted until it is balanced back out. Another thread whining about Distortion? Amazing.

This game is unplayable as a solo Victim

What do you think people did before Distortion was even in the game?

You rarely have a chance to save anyone

    This is just nonsense.

    Cashless cow. Moooooo

    More whining nonsense.

Equip some chase perks, learn to actually play the game without attempting to hide the entire game, and you'll see how the game improves for you. If you can't play the game without Distortion, perhaps DBD isn't the game for you.

  • @GeneralV said:

...Why do they choose the event queue?

So, I would like to promote a little discussion here and try to understand why this is happening during the last few days of the event.

This has genuinely caused me a distressing level of frustration. I was and still am really, really happy with this event and it has been the most fun I've had with DBD since the old days, but some of the players I've been paired with have really done their best to hurt the experience.

And unfortunately, this goes for both sides. I've seen killers who never crushed pumpkins or picked the haunts, and in my last games as killer I had a grand total of 2 survivors who interacted with the void.

This isn't fun. As survivor it just means I am the only one with the crystals available and the only one putting themselves in a dangerous situation. As killer, I'm forced to ignore some pumpkins and don't take the time to get the haunts otherwise I will lose the match.

But what I cannot understand is why players select the event queue if they will be playing regular DBD. It doesn't make sense.

Does anyone have any idea why this has been happening?

    Why?

Depending on role, the BP bonus is always 50%+, but sometimes 75% and 100%.

Then there's the cosmetics, why wouldn't I try to get them? Some of them are fun.

Footage is from October 25th, 2024. So again very current.

I will soon post a collected post with all the recordings from the last 7 years. There are many people who have played for a long time and have never experienced anything like this. always amazing.

Is there already a plan as to whether a server-side validation will be added to the pvp game Dead by daylight in the next few years in order to get the problem under control? Feedback from other players would also be welcome.

You can do stuff about flashbangs. Look at a wall unless they clip into you. Smoke bombs are way easier to get value from.

I'd be fine with them as a one time use item like someone else said.

Very similarly to Flashbang, I've very rarely encountered somebody using their smokebomb well enough to escape.

People often use it way too early or too late, ending with me just not stepping into the smoke and find them immediately again or me hitting them so they scurry away in panic respectively.

I'm sure some adjustments can be made to placate the haters of smokebombs, but other than that, it really isn't as broken as OP makes it out to be.

Very relatable. I've had people be rude to me in post-chat, when I obviously let them all go. I had hooked evevrybody twice and downed 3, but I let the 4th revive them, only to unironically get: "ez scrub, git gud, l2p".

It has gradually made me lean towards "Victims deserve no mercy", but I still can't help but to let a few teams go sometimes.

If you can only perform well with one particular perk, perhaps this game isn't for you.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, bring chase perks and get better at chases, if you absolutely feel like aura-reading is a thorn in your side. It's all about FINDING Victims, not hitting or downing them with aura-reading perks. So if you can just git gud at chase, you'll feel a lot better.

It's no longer a question of if they're okay with it. They confirmed that FNAF will be coming next year.

We don't know if it'll be a chapter or a cosmetic pack, but like… I mean if that IP of all things got added as just a cosmetic pack, let alone after being teased a year beforehand… I mean I almost want it to happen just to watch the meltdown of epic proportions. But let's be honest, it's gonna be a chapter.

    Confirmed

Oh, really. Well, I guess there's no pointing in hoping for their exclusion now. RIP.

    Anyone feeling the same?

No, I never had 10 min queue times. Not even as Killer during 2v8, when everybody seemed to be having extraordinarily long queue times (although I suspect many exaggerated their wait times).

  • If you see 4 flashlights in lobby, absolutely bring Lightborn.

    Thanks.
As for the generator repair speed, that is the last thing I added. The second one imposes some restrictions on survivors, so I thought I'd give a little hope that more people won't give up, but it may not be necessary.

I may have written a little poorly regarding Unbreakable, but this is a substantial Surrender command.
When there are two survivors, the bleeding gauge depletes four times faster, and the survivor dies in one minute.Recovering at normal speed from a downed state takes over thirty seconds, so you only get up once.
If the killer leaves you here, you can choose to leave the hatch to your allies without recovering, or you can get up without giving up.
From the killer's point of view, you can quickly hang up and move on to the hatch game, or else you can leave him alone and go find a survivor before he bleeds out.In any case, a survivor who has gone down twice will not be saved.

I knew you would say that about the hatch game, but I would like to know if you don't mind if I can tell you specifically which part of the game doesn't look good.
Either it will be a pure survivor or killer side game, or simply not interesting.
Personally, I don't see the need for a gate game after the hatch game, but what do you think?

    Give a little hope

That's nice and all, but repair speeds are fine as they are.

    Regarding Unbreakable

I mean, sure, when you put it like that. I'd argue they should just allow for a "fast bleed out" or "give up" button when downed for a certain amount of time, not give people Unbreakable. I somewhat like the idea you propose, but it's the way mechanics work as is (recovering taking a certain amount of time, the fact you can't recover and crawl at the same time, and crawling also takes a while to get somewhere reasonably safe if the Killer is leaving you for a bit) it just won't work out well. It will unfairly bleed out some people that still wish to keep going.

    Hatch problems

Two hatches is just too much. The fact that one hatch works fine with RNG as is, the panic of both Killer and Victim needing to find it first, is more thrilling than the frustration we'd get instead with two. Two hatches would easily make the following scenario a common occurance: Killer finds a hatch, closes it, but that's not enough. He still needs to find the second, but about 10 seconds later the game ends because the Victim managed to find the second.

It also increases the risk/chance of last Victim escaping in an End Game chase, because the odds of stumbling into a hatch, while the Killer desperately tries to catch them before they find it, is doubled.

I suppose a short way of saying it is; it is greatly in favor of the Victim.

    Hatch close triggers Killer Instinct

That might be okay, but still somewhat unnecessary. I'm biased, and I recognize that, so probably not for the best.

    Escape from hatch

Counting as a kill doesn't make sense. Simple.

Measures to prevent survivors from being stuck by other players.

    • Survivors with 3 crows will no longer collide with the killer and other survivors.

Measures to prevent matches from being delayed by the last two survivors.

    • When there are only two survivors left, the conditions for the appearance of crows change, and the following decisions are made every 30 seconds, and if none of the conditions are met, an additional crow will appear above the survivors' heads. If any of the conditions are met, the number of crows appearing will be reduced by one.
      • Generator is repaired for more than 5 seconds total.
      • Any survivor makes a chase with the killer.
      • Any survivor completes an irreversible action (open chest, cleansing/blessing totem, heal others/self, rescue from hooks, deal with other killer abilities).
      • Dying survivors exist.
    • When there are two survivors left, the speed of generator repair increases by 10%.
    • When there are two survivors left, the survivor's exsanguination timer will decrease at four times the rate and they will be able to recover from dying to injured on their own.

Make changes to the redundant hatch game.

    • When there is only one survivor, a 90-second end-game collapse begins, two hatches appear on the map, and the location of the survivor is revealed by the killer's instincts. The gates are not energized.
    • Each time the hatch is closed, the survivor is located by killer instinct.
    • Escape by hatch is treated as separate from normal escape, and is still the same from the survivor's perspective, but from the killer's perspective, it is treated as a kill in terms of challenges, achievements, and assessments. The only advantage due to true 4k should be BP.

That's all I have to offer.
It's a much rougher idea, so please point out any problems.
Thanks for reading!Best regards for your comments!

    No longer colliede

Sounds good, good anti-griefer against Killers who just bodyblock people in a corner (remember tho report such people, though).

    Decisions made every 30 seconds

    Sounds good.

Speed of gen repair increases by 10%

    lol, no.

With 2 Victims left, they get Unbreakable

    lol, even more no.

    Hatch changes

    Nope.

Before you say "Well it's the meta it's the best perks to use" yeah but it's not fun when I have to face the meta all the time when choas shuffle was out I just played that before I knew the meta wasn't showing up plus isn't choas shuffle also supposed to more test killers and survivors with trying new perks and expanding their horizons but guess not. Overall blah blah blah meta is boring to face when you deal with every match and no I don't use the survivor meta because 1. No idea what it is 2. I prefer my meta of perks I feel comfortable with but will sometimes swap them out currently I swapped one perk out with wake up.

Also another thing is something I don't get. A killer will constantly use their power Hillbilly, Nemesis, Trickster, ect. The ones with proper damaging powers and then DC(not promoting it) because they weren't downing survivors fast. A match I had against Trickster ending with him doing bye bye because he wouldn't stop using his power. Sure I was at a safe pallet so I would just vault to the other side and heal up as much as I could but I mean you kinda have to break the pallet or try swinging at that point. It's something I never got why constantly use your power then DC when you can't down anyone.

    I don't like meta builds

    That's okay.

I don't use meta survivor builds, because I don't know what it is

You can just google it, or go to "nightlight . gg" and look at the perks mostly used there.

I prefer the perks I like

That's okay, too. Nobody is saying you have to play meta perks.

What aura reading perks? You're just waving your hand like most of them do anything. When's the last time you saw hangman's trick? How about alien instinct? Awakened awareness? Is the answer never? Because they're really really bad? I like the random segue to lightborn by the way. Definitely relevant.

I don't think there's any point in arguing with this guy. I'll refrain from saying more colorful things about him, but it seems very clear to me, that he's not going to change his position. He doesn't like them, therefore bad. If bad, then; remove/nerf perks to the ground.

I mean 1000 bloodpoints are worth nothing, I think there wouldn't be many people interested in that.

Giving thumbs up as killer would be a lot harder for me because I can tell someone knows what they are doing, at the same time very good looping feels like a taunt alone sometimes. I'd have to learn to just accept it first and then give thumb ups for that (that would probably count for many other people too, I don't think there are many people that want to work on changing that on themself).

    1000 BP worth nothing

In a single match, yes, but not over several matches.

The issue is, if it was too much, people would be thumbing others up, regardless of impressions. They'd just cynically do it for the BP as the main reason to do it, as opposed to the BP being an incentive to encourage legitimate thumbing of impressive/polite players.

If it was 10.000, for example, I could combine that with playing Victim and just suicide on hook to finish match quickly, thumb up somebody, and boom 10K easy BP.

Haha I'm 100% with you there!

I'd be happy if all of the Mori's, the oldest ones in particular, got an update to add more detail/gore so they look less goofy and censored relative to what's going on (Leatherface for example, or Trapper/Wraith's POV gentle pats)

Yeah, Wraith as an example just hacks away at the base of the Victim's spine for a few seconds. Could really use a rework.

I really like Clown's Mori, because of the crunchy crack of the skull when he stomps on it, but then the actual visual mutilation of the finger (the finger remains removed, even after Mori), with him suckling it. Really grotesque, and right in line with what I'd expect from an M-rated game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/429332/about-the-thumbs-up-feature-and-an-idea-against-toxicity

So I imagine 95% of people won't give you a thumbs up simply because they don't want you to gain anything. In overwatch it worked because most people are just happy if they get a good mate, in dbd the killer will probably never get a thumbs up if he killed the survivors and the survivors probably not from the killer if they win, probably not even from other survivors because they did *insert random reason here* wrong. I just can't imagine people playing this game are mature enough to use that feature (I don't even except myself on that point, I'd probably only use it as survivor on other survivors or the killer, but never as a killer on any survivors xD)

    Overwatch

You got EXP when you endorsed another player in Overwatch, so that incentive can be carried over to DBD by making the action of thumbing another player give a small amount of BP, say, 1000 BP. Not a lot, but enough to encouarge somebody to give a thumb.

I'd probably only use it as Victim on another Victim or Killer, but never Killer on Victims

I could see myself thumbing fellow Victims and Killers as Victim, but also Victims as Killer. There's times when I get a shred of respect for somebody doing a really good loop chase, without T-bagging to provoke, and those I could see myself thumbing. Other cases too, but that's situational.

  • Sacrificial Ward to nullify map offerings.

Use a map offering yourself, to counter map offerings with a map that's more in your favor.

    10 games in a row

Gonna have to press X on that one, my guy. I've never, ever had a map more than 3 times in a row. Never. 10 in a row is ridiculous.

But if it did happen, praise yourself so fortunate, that you managed to be THAT unlucky, because surely you've used up all your misfortune for the rest of the year.

  • I like the nerf to Distortion. Please, BHVR, keep it as it is now (at a stretch, you can reduce the required chase-time to 15-20 seconds for token regen, instead of 30 seconds).

I don't mind gore in horror when it serves a purpose, like if I'm watching a movie where people get flayed (e.g. TCM) I'm fine with it because it highlights the horror of the situation. But I don't feel like mori animations in DBD serve a similar purpose. So then moris just show a murder happening, which doesn't really feel good for me.

It's less about being the subject of the horror, more about the gore itself. You nailed the core of it though. I don't like moris at any time. But with the update, moris can be expected to happen in a large fraction of games.

In the past, I'd just disconnect during them or swipe my screen away. Now I'd expect to have to do it very often. Skipping all mori animations would work for me. Seems like it shouldn't be hard to implement, but who knows with the spaghetti code. Still, depends on if there's enough people like me for BHVR to want to do it :)

    Swipe my screen away

I mean, that's one solution right there. Tab out, no? Just tab out, count to 10 or whatever, then come back and you're good.

  • @smurf said:

I guess it's probably an uncommon thing around here, but I hate moris. In movies, gore is there to show how horrifying the scenario is, and I like that.

Ending a match with gore doesn't serve a purpose except to show someone getting murdered. That's disgusting to me. I'm know a lot of people like watching moris, but I'd like to be able to disable the animation from the survivor side. Like an option to just end the match for the survivor instead of watching.

Want to emphasize that I'm not going to judge anyone or say moris aren't popular. I just find them awful and will probably only play killer unless the update is reversed or I can choose not to watch them. I also only play killer about 30% of the time, and might just lose interest in the game if I'm not playing survivor.

Anyway, just wanted to sign up here and make sure BHVR knows there's a (presumably small?) minority of people who have this opinion.

"Gore is there to show how horrifying the scenario is, and I like that."

"Doesn't serve a purpose except to show somene getting murdered. That's disgusting to me."

So you like the spectacle of horror, but not being the subject of said horror?

Buddy, I don't think this game is for you.

I will probably only play Killer

There's the solution. If you like gore, but not being on the bad end of it, be Killer. Else, tough luck.

Skipping the animation, when you're the last Victim anyways; I see that making sense, as well as what @MrMori says about skipping hook. Speeds up the end to get into another match, when it's already a done deal.

But I want to raise the question; what about the Mori animation, when you aren't the last? Do you want that skipped, too? Is that less horrible, because now it becomes a spectacle to your fellow Victims, and no longer "ending the match" with it?

I'm tired of killers constantly slugging for clearly not reason when games are clearly over. The fact that people get so bothered over the hatch is just insane.

I'm tired of fun, back and forth matches being soured by this miserable game of bleeding on the floor.

I'm so over it that I go out of my way to make sure the killer has as much fun as everybody else. And it's funny because I'm the one that gets slapped on the hook like I am the one ruining somebody's fun. You could have just hooked and been halfway through another match by now.

I don't mean to be so opinionated but I see too many killers teaming with survivors just to get me when I'm just trying to do gens that I'm just over it. I don't enjoy having to drop my item repeatedly for 5 minutes but hey, when there are 2 killers in the match I'm not left much choice here.

    Something has to give.

    Teaming with Victims

Report them for working with Killer. ezpz

Slugging is absolutely an issue. One of the most serious issues is when you get slugged so much in a match that you bleed out, that's no good.

We should increase the bleedout timer to 8 minutes from 4, that would be a good nerf to slugging.

    Increase timer to 8 minutes

That's insane. People are complaining about being slugged for 4 minutes, doing nothing, but you want those 4 horribly boring minutes to become 8 whole ######### minutes? Bro.

It isn't a scapegoat, ive noticed a correlation in games the past day and a bit since the update has come out that slugging has become more rampant than before, so no scapegoat, just things I've noticed.

    the past day

It's a single day, not even 24 hours (at least in EU, it went live only 19 hours ago). You should give it more time, before making the conclusion that it's because of the Mori, and not just you being unfortunate for a day.

  • @smurf said:

    This is awesome! For serious!

Might have to limit it to receiving one award from any player to prevent exploits. And/or maybe limit giving the award from your account a certain number of time per month or something to prevent a culture of being expected to give a thumbs up.

But for real should be done. 12/10 would boop the snoot!

Prevent a culture of being expected to give a thumbs up

Arguably, there should be no way to tell if a person has thumbed you or another person up. It should be anonymous.

  • I never anticipated slugging-whining threads changing to target the new Mori basekit, but it actually makes a lot of sense when I see it. It's the perfect scapegoat.

People were making near-daily threads about slugging before, now the Mori-basekit is there to point fingers at, and frankly, that's not fair to the Mori.

People slugged for 4K before, and the ability to finish the last one really wouldn't change anything for these people (including myself). If I feel like sweating for a 4K, I'll slug you, because it's the absolutely most logical move, due to the unreliable nature of hatch RNG. If I have worked hard to kill everybody else, I am definitely not giving you a chance to escape. Mori or no Mori, doesn't change that.

I often let people go, but let's keep in mind, that's not how the game is supposed to be played. The Killer is supposed to be merciless. You aren't supposed to whine this much about being killed as part of playing the role of "Victim" in a video game about Victims and Killers.

  • Ah, is it that time again?

    Another thread salty about aura-reading.

Aura-reading isn't guaranteed to find Victims, but if it happens, ask yourself: "What should I do, if the Killer finds me?"

You run. Also known "a chase".

So run some chase perks. Vault perks, speed perks, etc.

Give it a try, you'll feel a lot better.

Here's the videos. Sorry for no audio xbox game bar is crappy and I've only recently started documenting these due to how frequent it has become, but these videos are all related to the screenshots above. Video 1 has the longest gameplay before the crash, the other two you can see the game start to freeze up and then kick me. I don't understand if I'm doing something wrong, but if it is my internet that would be great to know so I can fix it accordingly. I've seen a lot of people recently start posting about this more and more, and it seems to be ignored even though it is impacting me and others consistently.

    Crash 1: https://youtu.be/Eb3BkORknvw

    Crash 2: https://youtu.be/3mSdnq1a3H4

    Crash 3: https://youtu.be/ZtwokPCrdJ8

These are all happening now and it seems more common. For some reason, it seems to fix if I were to switch to another account, but playing on my main account the issue is consistent, I played multiple games on a separate account with no lag, no disconnecting using the same ethernet, same PC, same room, nothing changes except my account and the issue still persists should I switch back to my main. I have tried switching up to wireless vs ethernet as well but it seems that does not work as well.

At first, it started for me with only a general few disconnects but now it is every other game I play. I'm just looking for a fix, if it's my internet or my PC that's the issue then it would make a lot more sense, because right now I see no general fixes or explanation for this and the game is unplayable because it will just continuously ban me, my current ban is for 24 hours and I'd just like to fix it/have it fixed because I don't know what's happening anymore.

That is definitely worrisome, and strange to hear that it doesn't happen with another account.

From my experience, the footage doesn't look like it's Internet related. You can see the progress bar in the 3rd clip very clearly moving, right up until the moment you disconnect. If it was an Internet issue, usually the delay is longer, because the server attempts to give a chance at reconnecting, before tossing you out.

I'm not about to go full conspiracy here, but I definitely hope you get in contact with some BHVR dev who can properly help you with this and analyse logs.

I completely empathize with your situation, it's one I'd absolutely hate to be in myself.

I wish you best of luck.

  • @VibranToucan said:

So recently the devs removed Stealth Mode from Skull Merchant with the reasoning that they want her to use her power instead of "setting and forgetting".

However this playstyle is also present on other Killers, so here is my suggestion for nerfing them to the ground by removing those playstyles.

    Trapper

Trapper is the prime example of this playstyle as Survivors can just step into traps randomly even when you didnt put them there yourself or if you didn't remember, especially with the Iridescent Stone. He is the embodiment of not using his power actively, sometimes it works without him. But sometimes the Rrapper must leave his net of traps for a while, so closing traps based on distance feels wrong and closing after an amount of time doesn't feel right either since reseting traps is such a hassle. So this is my idea:

    • From now on only up to 5 traps will be open at a time. If another is opened, the oldest trap is disarmed automatically. This allows the Trapper to keep the traps in one specific net and to use them actively in chase, but punishes just randomly dropping traps around the map.
    • This would also require a rework to the Iridescent Stone add on, since its based on randomly opening traps. So here is my suggestion: All Survivors start the trial in a bear trap, but healthy.

    Hag

The Hag has some of the same issues as Trapper, but at least she needs to be near her traps and can't have the game set them for her. Still, she can forget about her traps instead of actively using them. So my suggestin will encourage you to be aware of your traps by being near them:

    • Each trap has an internal timer of 30 seconds. While a trap is inside the teleportation radius of the hag the timer is paused. Otherwise its ticking down. Once 30 seconds have passed the trap gets automatically removed.

    Nightmare

Freddy has always been an interesting case as he has two abilities that fall under this category. Dream Snares and Dream Pallets. Snares are mostly actively placed in chased anyway, but its possible Freddy chases into he randomly set down earlier but forgot about. So here are my suggestions.

    • Dream Snares only exist during chases. Once a chase has it ended all Dream Snares vanish. To compensate for this, Freddies movement speed is increased to 4.2 m/s while placing Snares.

Next up we have the Dream Pallets. You can forget about them just like you can forget about Snares and worse you can see peoples auras when they are using them, so they can't even test safely. But those are easy to fix:

    • Rework the add-ons Garden Rake, Protoype Claw and Paint Thinner. They no longer give you Dream Pallets. Instead they increase the maximum amount of Dream Snares by 1/2/3 respectively.

    Unknown

The Unknown just like the Trapper has a power that the game just sets for it sometimes. And you can just completely forget about the Hallucinations until you realise "Oh I need to get to the other side of the map. Lucky coincidence there is this Hallucinations I forgot about." So, Hallucinations need to get reworked:

    • Hallucination placing is now a still tracked by the same meter on the side of the screen, but placing one down is now an activated ability. Doing so will place the Hallucination where you are currently standing and give you a 10% hindered effect for 5 seconds. In addition to that, there can only be one Hallucination active at a time. Hallucinations within 20 meters of a hook automatically vanish.

I hope that you decide to implement my suggestions when removing the "placing and forgetting" playstyle entirely.

Only allow Trapper to have 5 active traps at a time

    Them's fightin' words, my boy.

People have been asking for a buff to Trapper for years (for him to start with all traps), because his setup time is incredibly hampering, and now you wanna straight up weigh him down with this? No. It cannot be allowed.

  • @bdzr said:

Anyone else having this issue? I'm on ethernet, I've tried everything to fix this. Closing my post won't help either by the way, I have called my ISP, verified game files, reinstalled the game, and now I'm getting disconnected every other game for no reason and now I'm banned for 24 hours for something I'm not even doing and I can't appeal the bans because they aren't accepted. I just want to play the game and I get disconnected every other game and I'm on Oregon servers.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VG7IRVSOEDNL/deadbydaylight.log

What do I need to do differently to stop this from happening? It's so common for me now that I can't even play the game without it immediately doing that. It has been happening for around 2 months now. I haven't changed anything on my setup, my internet, and I have tested all issues on my side that I possibly can. BHVR needs to address this or at least give some information because I guarantee the exact reason there is no way to appeal a matchmaking ban is because of this. If anyone has a fix PLEASE let me know because I'm really tired of this happening to me.

Also I have videos too. It's not me leaving the game. The killer just starts walking into a wall for me and then I get kicked and it says "dedicated server is not responding" and then I'm banned for another 24 hours.

    I have videos, too

Can we see some, this sounds most unfortunate.

In no particular order with a short bit about em. NOT taking their perks into account. Some killers are slower having a %110 move speed when most others are at %115.

Licensed killers will have this text format.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BOFVSPRMN1YU/my-image.png

    • Wraith: Takes the #1 spot with stealth, easy to ambush and also great for farming blood points.
    • Clown: Just throw the bottles fairly sized AoE inflicts a hefty slow or speed yourself up
    • Wesker: Prob the best licensed killer in DBD most fun for both sides grab a Dweeb and yeet him across the room.

    • Huntress:(%110) Tad slower than others and can throw hatches at the survivors. Very straight forward.
    • Legion: Power lets you very easily chase down and injure, but downing them is just M1
    • Demo: M2 to launch yourself forward and instantly break pallets, place portals to map travel
    • DeathSlinger:(%110) Has a harpoon gun with a chain to reel in his victims. For those that enjoy FPS games, but he is slow when aiming down sights compared to other FPS games
    • Chucky:(%110) Tiny, 3rd person view, stealth with dash and talks a lot of #### to make this game rated M.
    • GhostFace: Has stealth able to crouch and peek around corners to expose survivors just don't get spotted yourself.
    • Plague: She throws up on everything and everyone shutting down healing and breaking survivors. Fountains can cleanse them, but can also give you red vomit which instant hurts them.

    • Myers: Primarily a M1 killer, stalk survivors them for a time to expose them. Unique add-ons changing how he plays can be a slow, but true stealth ambush killer with wall hacks or just instantly kill them.
    • Bubba: Has a chainsaw that can instant down survivors, make the most of it's duration will take attention from you while you learn it and be careful to not bump into anything.
    • HillBilly: Also has a chainsaw, but mastering his will be harder than Bubba. Has insane map mobility use the add-ons that reduce stun duration when you bump into things when you still learning him.
    • Freddy: Primarily a M1 killer, can teleport to gens and place small pools to slow survivors when they run over them ONLY when they are asleep.
    • Pig: Primarily a M1 killer, can crouch similar to Ghostface, with a dash takes time to learn at loops and most will just run off. Beartraps gives her the strongest built in slowdown in the game as they can't be ignored.
    • Oni: Starts off game as a M1 only killer and is very snowball like. Early game will be the hardest part get them injured to get the blood orbs for your power and you can snowball from there or you'll struggle.
    • Pyramid Head: Placing down his trail is the easy part, but learning his M2 range atk will take time getting used to.
    • Trickster: Like Huntress his power is straight forward just throw those knives, BUT you have to land 6-8(?) knifes to injure them.
    • Blight: Smash your face into a wall and become a pinball. Has great mobility and does need practice with loops.
    • Dracula: Vamp form (Easy) shoot fire straight line like Pyramidhead M2. Wolf form (Mid) has dashes best for long straight paths or sudden turns like killer shack. Bat form (Hard) your blind and can't see them so you have to rely on sound and scratch marks.
    • Unknown: Has somewhat fakes can place with a bit of control mostly random for instant map teleport and has grenade launcher like power that MUST bounce first then explode to weaken them then again to injure.
    • Xenomorph: Has tunnels for fast map travel to gens, can see foot steps of survivors and has a range tail attack with a narrow hitbox. Watch for flame turrets and they will hinder you.
    • Dredge: Primarily a M1 killer, can teleport to to lockers anywhere or leave a little shadow behind to instantly teleport yourself back to. Causes the realm to be ingulf in darkness making you stronger and survivors almost blind.
    • Ringu Girl: Primarily a M1 killer, she's very short with a stealth, phasing in and out of visibility. Can teleport to TVs that's at a gen to mark survivors. With 7 marks you can instantly kill.

    • Doctor: Primarily a M1 killer. Has a massive AoE shock to easily locate survivors. Can shock them to make it so they can't vault or throw down pallets. It does slow you down a bit when charging to and small loops are bad for Doc. Inflicts madness on survivors making them see fakes of Doc and make skill checks random.
    • Artist: Her birds when firing them go in a straight line. Send the birds out once to mark them then hit them with a second pair of birds to injure them. Aiming and predicting is very important.
    • Spirit:(%110) Has the least counter play in the game for survivors with only little directional audio. Leave your husk behind and go zooming while invisible. During this time your blind and can't see so like Dracula bat form you have to relay on scratch marks and audio ques to locate them.
    • Twins: A very weird one. The sister is only M1. She can send out Victor the tiny parasitic brother to zoom around the map and pounce on survivors. A rather slug heavy killer that just isn't fun for both sides.
    • Nemesis: He's huge with 2 brain dead zombies that can either help you out or get stuck. Has a mid range attack with his tentacle that grows in power. Only reason I don't like or recommend him is he's the only killer requires you to hit them 3 times. 1st hit to infect them, 2nd hit to injure, 3rd hit to down. Survivors can also cleanse themselves so you have to infect them before you can even hurt them.
    • PinHead: Primarily a M1 killer,. You can fire out a chain to slow down a survivor for a bit is rather tricky to aim and his box gives off constant map pressure to someone or all of them if the chain event is triggered.
    • Knight: Sends out one of 3 guards to assist him to chase a survivor, but does have a lot of restriction when using them making him rather hard to play as. When making a patrol path it's a copy/paste of Spirits power (literally) if your good with her you'll do fine with Knight. Best use of his power in making the game into a 2v4 not a 2v1.
    • Vecna: Has 4 different spells with their own twist. Deny or lift pallets, send out spirits that takes time learning how they work, a fly spell that's for map mobility and send a large orb to locate survivors and shut down their items. Survivors do have access to magic chest with items to give survivors information and 2 or them are unique giving them a power when they jump in to a locker either teleport them away or become invisible to you.
    • Singularity: The most micro demanding killer in the game. Shoot out pods that act as cameras to infect survivors letting you teleport right on top of them. They do have access to EMPs that can shutdown your cameras and cleanse themselves.
    • Hag:(%110) Can place traps that can be hard to see. When triggered a fake pops up in front of the victim letting you teleport right on top of them for a easy injure. Placement of traps are key since she is NOT a chase killer.

    • Nurse:(%98) The only killer in the game that ignores most rules of DBD like pallets and even walls with her blink skill. She's also the slowest in the game at almost %98 so you must learn to blink to land your M1 hits or even move around the map. Has potential to be the strongest killer, but NOT recommended for new players.
    • Skull Merchant: The only sexy female killer of the roster. Really she's closer to average. Drones aren't too hard to use place for stealth and mark survivors giving yourself haste, while slowing and breaking survivors. Only reason she's down here is that she's the most hated killer in the game causing most games to have someone baby rage, give up and either D/C or quit. With her changes and losing a beam on drone makes her harder. It's best to just wait until her rework some time next year.
    • Trapper: Trust me just…… don't. Despite being the face of DBD. Too much time sink with using traps and placement of them is key. Don't place them at obvious spots like at pallets, but in tall grass along the walls of loops. Trapper is extremely easy to bully and shut down when survivors are watchful which is easy for them.

    Wesker noob friendly?

Huntress just needs a bit to learn?

Doctor is more difficult than Huntress?

    Trapper is suffering? wat

That's the most glaring of your choices that stands out to me. It doesn't really seem to make sense.

  • @fixblitzskin said:

Would it be a good idea if the 4th slot on killer and survivor are reserved for less-meta perks. This will make 4 gen regression perks or 4 gen rushing perks go to 3. With both survivors and killer perks getting limited to 3 bhvr can buff individual perks and maybe encourage more perk diversity. Examples in what you cant put on the 4th slot can be perks like pop goes the weasel, pain res, grim embrace, deadlock, eruption, surge, some aura reading perks*. Survivors cant put perks like OTR, DS, DH, exhaustion perks* Deja vu, etc. Obv this isnt all the perks but you get the point. The 4th perk slot can be opened to other perks. This doesnt mean that the 4th slot has only ######### perks but just not the same old same old. What are some problems with this idea or what would you do different?

So each perk would get a sort of category or something, then you can't have more than 3 of a single category?

That seems to be a problem, when we then get perks that have multiple effects, like:

    • Killer:

Agitation (Terror Radius + Carry Speed), Lightborn (Flashlight Counter + Haste), Iron Maiden (Faster Locker Opening + Victims Scream When Exiting a Locker).

    • Victims:

Resilience (Increased speed in repair, sabo, heal, vault, etc.), Dramaturgy (Random effects), Calm Spirit (Don't spook crows, can't scream, cleanse totems silently).

This isn't even mentioning hex builds for Killers, and boon builds for Victims, how would Pentimento work with a limit of 3 hex perks?

Lastly, it would take a lot of choice, a lot of options, away from peoeple in what seems like an arbitrary decision to counter "meta"-builds, which is something that happens in every video game.

I think it should be left as is, this suggestion wouldn't be good.

Where I'm standing is where I spawned into the match and there right next to me is the hex totem that I cleansed in the first 15 seconds before the killer could even get to it. I know hexes are supposed to be high risk high reward, but this had zero chance of not being immediately removed when it was visible next to me in the opening camera pan. Had to run back to it later to take the screenshot since I immediately got chased by the killer after cleansing it but yeah, this should not be a thing.

LOL, that is definitely a totem spawn, if I ever saw one.
I wish hexes were viable, many of them can be rather fun.

  • It's a while ago by now, but I'll never forget it.

I found myself waking up in another place. At night, it was filled with arcade machines and a building that looked like a cinema. The darkness, in retrospect, probably helped us.

There were three others, as usual, and our tormentor was the masked beast with all the damned bear traps.

The others seemed more experienced than I am used to; quick on their feet, clever, agile, and acted as if they had been there before. They probably had. It got my hopes up for relief. My hope only grew stronger as our efforts proceeded.

We took some scrapes, but eventually we managed to power the blasted doors, I opened them with haste, but one of the others had managed to get caught.

This fellow and I, I never learned his name, looked at each other. We nodded and went to get her free. The monster. That… Sadist. He was simply staring at her on that meathook, drinking in her torment. How I loathe him.

My guy distracted him, while I ran up quickly and got her off. I was so excited, thrilled even, because freedom was within an arms length. We ran straight to the gate, the girl and guy both at my heels.

We did it! We ran out, and I nearly high-fived my fellow escapees, but as I looked back to see the face of the woman we saved, every ounce of joy left me immediately.

The last thing I see, before the fog enveloped my body and thoughts, were the woman being cut down, with the bloodied hand of the manbeast reaching for her, to drag her back to her personal hell.

I don't know why she stopped and looked back. I don't know why she didn't just run. But I only know this; I never saw her again.
