Spirit is easy, while Stridor Spirit is the soul reason why most survivors suicide on first hook. She has no tells and no counters. Made plenty of arguments in the past but I always get, git gud. I AM GOOD. I also play all killers. I do youtube videos of DBD. I do GUIDES on how to play KILLERS at Rank 1. I play survivors a ton also. I show how to juke each killer. Spirit is probably the most unfun thing you can go against. It's not your skill that matters, its how good their headphones are and if you get a lucky guess while they can literally pinpoint you accuracy with moans.

I just had a match at red ranks as Clown where I was playing as fair as possible which means that I was hooking people and walking away to go kick some gens with Pop Goes while the rest of the team was able to unhook and heal that person.
I kept doing that several times until I had 10 out of 12 hooks, two survivors managed to escape in the end. And even after all of this hard and fair work I still was robbed of my pip. What reason do killers even have to play fair if they still don't get any rank progress out of it?
@Canas Headache, annoyance and a lot of teabagging with a bit of nasty degrading chat afterwards. Its not worth being super nice unless its an event. Your job is to kill. Do you think everyone will give you 2 free hooks each if you seem to suck? Nah, they'll teabag you and hop a pallet 400 times while they laugh at you. Play how you want. The best advice is don't get tilted. Remember, its just a game. If you get tilted, you start making more and more mistakes and they WILL destroy you then.
-
Spirit takes skill and you just need to git gud (without any real way to tell where she is while phasing). (Edit: removed an unnecessary word)
-
The survivor ques are already really stupid high due to many killers not playing much anymore. You keep doing stuff and you'll have hour wait periods like we use to have on PS4 back when this game was first introduced to console. Trust me, you don't want that. I'd say remove the speed boost from NOED and call it a day.

Remove Perk Tiers. That's all we really need.

Billy. Billy can be oppressive as ######### and keep you on your toes or a chain-saw revving potato that can be looped for ages around 1 loop. You never know what's going to be, even at Rank 1 but at the same time, he's still one of my favorite killers to play as also. Fantastic movement speed, the ability to kill quickly if need be and the fear of a 1-shot to make some lower skilled players run into something while in-chase. He's a madman, I tell ya! In all seriousness, he's honestly one of my faves and always will be. Too bad the nerf to his chainsaw made him almost never picked :( He was the one fun killer to go against. If you both was good, it was a damn even match and very fun. If he sucked, looooord XD
-
Just bring back where you could hear her awhile back every 2 seconds. If gave you a chance to tell where she was but with her speed, she could still trick you if she was good. It was skillful for both sides. Even Wraith has to uncloak and slowdown to hit you.

Right so if survivors beat spirits in chase, spirit bad and survivor got lucky. If spirit did well in chase, spirit OP. Also tru3 goes against good spirits all the time, stop trying to downplay him doing good in chase.
@SilentHillOnDvD I've argued with True in the past on his guides for killers. I've played this game for years, starting on console and switched to PC. I have more than enough experience against killers. I have a ton of videos and I've even destroyed True and other streamers. I even have proof on my comments on my Steam Page from Streamers. Don't discredit because you like to watch someone who only post their WINS. Spirit, once you get hit, is unstoppable if they have any type of skill. It's not skillful anymore. You WILL get hit. You can't see her, she can see your scratches AND tell by your moaning wherever you are. That's the main issue with her. She doesn't move grass or corn and she can HEAR your clomping footsteps but you can't hear hers either. She has many ways to tell where you are. Moans are DIRECTIONAL and you can tell distance with them. You can't tell where she is. Don't say Iron Will. Stridor. There you go, you lose. If she misses a lot, she's a potato.
-
Spirits who have no counterplay except to get wacked once then shortly afterwards, get either lucky or downed due to Stridor.

I keep seeing posts like these that say you can't do well in a 1v1 against a spirit and I think that's just simply not true. I deeply regret not recording one of my games where I managed to last over 2 minutes against a pretty good spirit without iron will. Watch Tru3ta1ent, he shows that spirit can be beat all the time
@SilentHillOnDvD True goes against potato killers a lot. I watch his videos all the time and all the Spirit ones are potatoes. (Edit: For to put an s on the end of one.)

If people are saying there is ACTUAL counterplay then I need to see this for myself, til then there's no counterplay whatsoever. It's just guessing games, and hope you guess right and if you don't then oh well outplayed..
@ClownIsUnderrated I'm always told to just outsmart a killer who is invisible, doesn't make noise, doesn't move grass or corn, who can hear me moaning from about 7-8 steps away, sound is directional and you can tell how far the person is from the moans who can also zip across the map in seconds faster than Billy with certain add-ons. Seems like a fair, balanced killer who you can mindgame by just tricking her by making her deaf, I guess XD since sounds are directional and pretty loud when hurt, you can't do anything.
You camp a pallet and guess what? Sounds are DIRECTIONAL. She can tell which side you are on while invisible. The "counterplay" is just to stand still, walk, crouch. How do you do that when you moan directly underneath her as she passes you by and gets a super speed lunge when coming out? If you can tell me that, I'll call you a genius. The reason I'm speaking directly to you is because when I try to explain to others', I get told to either get gud, stop overexaggerating her or just use bigger brains. There is no real way to fight her when you're hurt. If someone says Iron Will, that's a perk. That automatically is bad on its own then you have Stridor.
I want a REAL way to counter her when I get initially hit then I just get bodied shortly afterwards from a speedy Spirit that I can't react to who gets easy directional moans. Make her shimmer a little. Make her make slight sounds here and there. Even Wraith can't just speed up to you and get an easy wack. He has to, at least, uncloak first.
-
360's have saved my life on multiple occasions over the past few years. Also, I liked the new animations but the stutter as a survivor when quickly turning left then right or reverse was overbearing. You literally stop in place for almost a full second before turning again. That isn't "fun", its game-breaking. You can't stay still for 1 second just because of the new movement system. If I was told to run through mud while being chased but the other guy can run on the sidewalk, I'd be pissed.
-
@ClownIsUnderrated said:
To anyone who thinks a certain streamer gives you logical counterplay against the Spirit actually works, I just had a match against a Stridor Spirit. The crouching tech that muffles your sounds, the baiting of window vaults, and dropping pallet mind games did not do jack of anything. Because how am I supposed to be able to do all this kind of stuff against a Spirit who runs Stridor, who basically knows where I am because she can hear me and I can't make out where she is? If you run Iron Will against a Spirit who doesn't use Stridor and know how to use it properly, that one perk instantly destroys what her entire power is. All I'm asking for is the survivor and Spirit both need logical counterplay of some sort to be able to get the one up on each other, and perks such as Iron Will and Stridor should not be able to do that for them. I don't think Spirit needs a nerf of any sort, but I think a rework that keeps her at least a strong killer as well as having actual counterplay on both sides is what people want. I can't make out what sort of rework I would do to Spirit since I don't main her, but people that have big brains can probably give loads of ideas.
@ClownIsUnderrated If she hits you, the chase is officially over. Sounds are directional. You lose. That's it. Its why there is no counterplay. If you need perks to have even a sliver of a chance against a killer, that's terrible game design. You can't trick a Spirit if you moan from 6 steps away and the sounds are directional. You just can't. There is no mindgame. You just LOSE.
-
Just shrink most maps.
-
I like the new animations. The quick movement left/right then back is terrible, though. Really needs to be fixed. Can't do multiple quick turns anymore but the animations, I like. You crouch slightly lower than you use to behind stuff so it makes hiding easier.

The devs seem so against adding auric cells in the free track, there's a lot of empty spots in the free track doesn't hurt to add something like that. That's what Fortnite does with their battle passes, and have been doing continuously as well. Or you know maybe just add about a few shards if you don't want to do auric cells. Also I remember correctly that once they added the redeem code function last year into the store, auric cells were mentioned to be given with codes. It's been like seven to eight months, and still haven't see auric cell codes. Makes me think they lied about it to no surprise.
@ClownIsUnderrated I would LOVE shards in the free pass. Doesn't hurt the economy and helps with stuff.

I wish charms added more bloodpoints percentages based upon rarity. Like 2%-5% per charm based upon rarity. So max 15% more bloodpoints for 3 Iri Charms. It would make it more useful.

I'm here to learn. Explain it to me baby.
@RiskyKara Let's say you're a good looper. You want the killers' attention to stay on you to give your teammates time to pop the gens. Nothing like teabagging after a pallet slam and seeing that killer just stare you down before chasing you again. It serves a few purposes but it leads to the (same) reasoning. Another example. A teammate is being chased and gets downed quickly. It's clear he/she isn't very good at looping and the killer knows it so he/she tries to remove the survivor out of the game by tunneling. You can brute force a hit on yourself then teabag. Now that you're a hurt and teabagging, you look like a target that can be hit just as easy so you become that juicy new target, successfully pulling the killers' attention off of the person who would have been likely dead in less than a full minute, tipping the games' favor in the killers. It's why Mori's were hated so much. Get's a person out of the game, tipping the balance dramatically.
A gen is almost done and its the second to last or final gen. You 3-genned yourself and the killer is heading that way to check on the gen. You can teabag the killer after taking a hit on purpose to draw his attention towards yourself and off the gen that would have probably been stopped. Again, you look like an easy target now since you've already lost a health state and the killer wants you even more because of the teabag. Teabagging has won me so many games because the killers' focus on me heavily afterwards. I'm Rank 1 on both. When I get teabagged as killer, I chase but if it seems like I'm being looped too long, I leave. Its a strategy to keep the killers' attention off of other things. Sometimes, people get into their feelings and chase you for ALL 5 GENS and those are the BEST as survivor. Yes, it feels dickish if the killer is already tilted but your job is to survive, just as the same; the killers' job is to kill. You do with what you have to win. Sometimes, teabagging can save the game. Edit: I forgot to put in same XD so I put () to let you know near the beginning.

I wanted to see the opinions of others because this was on my mind. When I'm a killer it always super gets under my skin when people clearly better than me start to T-Bag in the wake of their awesomeness.
I've never really T-Bagged before, I just don't see the value in making a final strike against someone who's already clearly having a bad time. Plus this game is already toxic enough without me being a total jerkwad on top of it.
The other day I was being chased by a killer, and it wasn't like I looped him for two minutes, for all intents and purposes it was a fair game. He got me onto a tile that had no escape, and it was curtains for me. So in a thoughtless act of pure defiance, I just started T-Bagging in those few seconds before I ate #########.
There was no way out for me, this killer was going to have his way with my corpse but at least in my final moments I had my pride.
Think something like that is toxic too?
Teabagging isn't always about being a negative person or trying to hurt the killers' feelings. It's also a great strategy. If you need to know why, let me know. I'll explain. It's really simple, though.

I do find it funny how for a long time no one talked about Dead Hard, and then servers came along and broke it, so survivors had to start using it earlier and earlier for it to be useful, now killers can't get enough of complaining about it.
Hopefully it stays as is, it's honestly fine.
@SenzuDuck Dead Hard is strong but not broken. I agree with you. SB is more useful since you get the same distance with no real way to stop it. DH takes a bit more skill and sometimes luck since the servers can just screw you for no reason. You can bait it out as killer. I do it a lot. I just wiggle my character quickly and that usually makes them DH XD. Or just quick hit them when up their ass since its so quick, it's almost impossible to time DH that way.

It happens so often during this event I deranked from rank 3 to 8 quite fast. Can it be fixed asap?
It ######### you out of your Adepts as killer. You get Merciless but due to the pips showing -1, it doesn't give you the Adept achievement.
-
I just want to point out that there are a ton of deadzones for survivors due to breakable walls. You enter an area and become trapped. I would like for them to really look at both sides because the amount of places with 2 pallets but no way to leave but to go through the same door downstairs is really bad.
-
@darktrix said:
They have such tight tolerances such as for vaults, how much perks add to where even a little used to make a difference. All that effort to balance pallets and maps...
Now they change a fundamental piece of the game in animations with a couple weeks of PTB testing and all that is out the window.
@darktrix It's almost impossible to fake a killer out and dodge an attack now. You do 2 turns quickly and you become sluggish for a second. That's more than enough time to get an easy hit on by a killer.
-
I would also like to see bigger bars for bleed out, borrowed time status and such. Sometimes its hard to see if I'm about to bleed out on my own timer since its so tiny. That's what I really, really want. Otherwise, the new hud looks MUCH better. Thank you. (Note: Same for hook timer! Bigger bar to know if someone is about to die because the current bar disappears yet some people are still alive for another 5 seconds. It would be nice to tell exactly if I should try to continue a rescue or just scramble)
-
My dude was able to interact AND take a glyph from a killer in a match. He was wondering why he couldn't find the glyph and my dude snatched it so its either a bug or you can take a glyph.
-
With the way the new maps are being made with very low obstacles, he's terrible to face. Just really easy shots that are almost impossible to dodge. The new map they made with all the lawn chairs and almost nothing to hide behind but 3 walls is unbearable against him, Huntress and Nurse. If you can't hide behind an object, don't create it in a map against killers who needs LOS blockers to have a chance against. (Note: Had to edit because I forgot to put hide LOL)
-
I never have much trouble against Leatherface. If you're in the open, yeah, he'll get you. Just pallet loop his ass to oblivion like Billy. I have trouble against Spirit and Gunslinger. You use LOS blockers but with the new maps being changed to not having any real tall obstructions, you get get screwed. With Spirit, the moment you get hit, you lose. Leatherface, I just teabag, slap him with a pallet and run to another pallet and loop, slap him, wait for him to break then run while he's doing it. If he's face camping you, just do gens and leave.

Is it going to be on the Pro version?
@ChurchofPig Its just a Switch Revision. Like PS4 Pro but I think it'll be almost as strong as the PS4. It's cost will be an extra $100 but using the current Switch.. I wouldn't suggest it. I own it and I don't play it. When I did, I could only play docked because the FPS drops was just horrendous. The new Switch version should at least give it the boost to play almost normally while docked. Undocked, it'll play as like a normal docked Switch.
-
The Switch is getting a Pro version soon so wait for that before getting it.
-
I would add a buffer of about 3 seconds of being healed by a teammate so you don't get unhooked, love tapped by a survivor then get screwed.
-
Make it a reversed BBQ and Chili. When someone gets hooked, you can see the killer for 4 seconds and he can't see you unless he has an aura reading perk like BBQ and Chili. It works at any range. It would levigate the hate towards BBQ while also providing a survivor a good perk that can let the person know if the killer is heading their way. Instead of BPs, you get unlimited aura range for 4 seconds like BBQ and Chili. What do you guys think? Would help to know if the killer is coming your way so you can dip. Would combo with Sole Survivor and Distortion so you get all benefit with no real consequence. Might have to remove my post in General since I didn't see this until after it was posted @MandyTalk
-
It seems you guys are correct. Tested it multiple times. It takes 8-10 seconds either way. I guess it just feels faster when backpedaling. Thank you for the help!

I avoid that specific genre of games, but I can imagine it's one that would attract that sort of cheater to it. I heard conan exiles had similar problems too. in other games like dayz I heard about wallhacks and campers aimbotting and shooting from places like beneath the ground and stuff lol.
@SocialDistomancy I played that too and yes, it had the same problems with people using bypasses. I will say that Conan was really fun to play even solo. Its massive with lots of exploration and upgrades. Better than ArK? Maybe but never played Ark. I do know that I really like building/foraging/scavenging type of games. I also play WOW.

Yeah this game is messed up enough without that kind of bs too from either side. And it ruins the ability to get accurate data to make changes based on, which they're already not good enough at doing in my opinion without cheats making it harder for them. One of the most annoying cheater communities I encountered personally was the souls community though, my god those people were set out to get the victims flagged as cheaters and to destroy their save states lol. Killing the blacksmith in ds2, flagging ppl, ruining the mob hp, using all sorts of impressively crazy stuff the game did not intend for them to do like machine gunning spells with all sorts of status effects it was nuts. I played those games while internet connected with legit ptsd and save backup tools
@SocialDistomancy I use to play a lot of 7 Days To Die and met a good amount of bypassers of Eagle Eye Anti-Cheat and would come into my world and just destroy everything that I worked so hard on. After that, I just play with my dude, here and there on it now. Just isn't worth the heartache to see all of your progress destroyed by some #########.

interesting, I know there were a couple of old steam emulators back int he day mostly pirates used them though. I think one was updated in the more recent past (meaning past two or three years) by some modder or cracker. That's the one they're probably using, and if they're doing that it means the accounts used are probably disposable too which makes them even more carefree about it. Meaning it's going to become more rampant as more find out about it or find it while looking for cheats. If left unchecked that would eventually become a fairly common problem in the game. But it would make for some pretty interesting livestreams I reckon.
@SocialDistomancy Yeah, it seemed the guy was working on it since late 2017 in December. My request has been answered and closed with it being forwarded. Glad its being taken seriously. I just get tired of people ruining others' games.
-
I found the source of the hacks and reported them today. It was a manipulation of the PTB files and reverse engineering, including a steam spoofer AND a name spoofer. The guy seemed really good but someone messed up and didn't blur out the full link of the github. Hopefully, it gets priority.

Ie the same distance covered. ignoring all other issues people have with the perk, one of the most fustrating things about it from a gameplay standpoint is that it brings gameplay to a standstill for 5 whole seconds.
5 whole seconds of doing nothing. this also combos with head on's charge up allowing for really long stun periods that can feel abrasive to go against.
Making it, a two second stun (or the same effective stun time as a pallet stun), but the survivor gaining a small sprint burst in order to gain the same distance they would with current decisive strike, would allow it to be less draining being hit with it. Killers with powers that allow them to quickly cover distance would feel the effects less though, so it would be a slight nerf there.
(being healed a full health state should remove decisive strike/its cooldown should go down far faster when doing actions, as your not actively being tunneled.)
I wouldn't do a full heal since its still 25 seconds of invincibility then a full heal on top of it. I'd say 20% healed, downing another survivor and hooking them or touching a gen removes DS. Your ideal, I like a bit also.

but yeah the hook state one is a good idea.
Hook counter so it helps since SWFs aren't the only ones who have that knowledge. I would also not mind having a button to gesture as killer like a thumbs down or something.

you can see the hook states of survivors on their health bar, but a more obvious indicator like a different aura color would also be nice though not neccessary :) i don't think a totem counter is a good thing, because it will always show totems remaining, which would lead to people more easily figuring out hidden hex perks/encouraged to go after hex perks/regular totems. Survivors can also see their hook state on the health bar when hooked.

True, though due to it not being intergrated in the game in any sense, i doubt it would be able to be added, though it would be an amazing feature.
decent idea actually, is that what you meant Avoiceofreason? having a counter/indicator on the hud showing what state other survivors are on?
i really want a bot mode tbh, anything would be better then nothing, and it would stop me being deprived of bbq stacks as killer/stop me from outright losing as survivor.
100% needed with how many perks are in the game

they have confirmed thats not happening, but what IS happening, is all outfits whilst injured are going to become more bloody. we saw a test of this on the ptb in one of the graphics updates. its great actually
Hook states without having to remember who was 2 hooked. Totem counter since it'll balance totems and prevents NOED from being used as a crutch. That way everyone has knowledge to how many is left, including the killer.
-
I rather have 2 months of double bloodpoints. That way they don't have to redo any of the maps, they can focus on what they was already doing and still everyone gets more blood points.
