Tbh I get what you mean. Feels really meh to just go from match to match and not see any kind of message from anyone. They really need to add chat functions, messaging, player history etc that you can opt into. Would really help it become a more social environment. Actual player stat pages would be cool too. Fav killer, survivor, time played, the basic stuff.
-
Don't spirit players usually use sloppy? Thana is a terrible perk.
-
I'm glad other people are speaking up about this and it's not just me anymore. Billy is a joke now. Over the course of...6 or 7 months now? He was a pretty well respected and fun killer to play as and against. Billy matches were never boring. definitely needed an add-on overhaul but nothing more. That was the general consensus on Billy. Now look at him... Jesus Christ. I remember the patch notes from the day it started happening. They wanted to fix a "sound bug" he had that tbh I had no idea even existed. Then whatever sound they tried to fix ended up breaking his camera fov, his curve sensitivity, his first person animations and his third person ones, and made false saws on survivors and pallets happen way more frequently than they did (they still happen btw. A lot.) So either their code is actually this appalling or they were making undocumented changes to him, which isn't exactly a first for BHVR.
But yeah, rant over, I'd make a post in the feedback tab but it never helps, especially when changes have already been made, BHVR are very stubborn about reverting changes.

Sure doesn't seem sarcastic.
Actually you might be right, looking at his comment history he thinks Demogorgon is the worst killer in the game lmao, so another hot take like this is entirely possible.
-
Won't reach anyone in the general discussions tab so I'd suggest making a post in there about it instead. And trust me we've been wanting these changes for Wraith literally for years now and they've done nothing but bugged him in almost every patch recently so there's no chance they'll see this lmao. I've had to stop playing Wraith almost entirely because he's unplayable without windstorm, and I don't have any available because I'm still grinding a ludicrous amount of BPs for perks on other killers and survivors and nothing is being done about that either. At least blight and Oni are fine addonless.

You missed the point of my comment. I don’t dislike mirror Myers because he’s unbeatable; I understand what to do against him. It’s just extremely dull and uninteresting for me. I play survivor to practice chases and there are no chases against a mirror Myers.
It's fun if you're new to the game, but the whole "permanent wallhacks and no chases" thing gets stale after a while. Still, would definitely take a scratch mirror Myers over a Deathslinger or Spirit.
-
Just look at him harder bro. If you don't look at him hard enough he'll skillfully outplay you by exposing you in plain sight.
-
You're not being told what to do, you're listening to babies complaining and you're taking it to heart which is almost as pathetic as what they're doing. Who cares what you do in the game as long as you're not cheating? Because those people who are crying at you won't care 5 minutes after they said that to you so why should you?
-
??? It's the only part of the game where survivors and killers actually interact with each other and get to actually play a video game and test their skills. I'm always baffled when people say that they hate looping in DbD because that's all this game has to offer.
I'll edit this part by saying I guess I'm not entirely baffled by people saying this, as they're usually the ones who main spirit or Hag
-
After every match and every time you enter the lobby you see the stupid pop-up window on the right, begging you to do challenges and see what new items you got, and it's worse than most other games because it actively blocks the chat while it's up, and also makes the game hang when it enters and leaves your view. Awesome. And it'll tell you everywhere how many days are left, and it's this whole "You better complete the rift or you're going to miss out on everything and you don't wanna get left out do you? But you better complete the entire thing in a time limit to get your money back so you can continue to be a part of this endless loop of grinding so you don't feel like you wasted your money!"

It basicly comes from a narrative that is being told by people that there is no counterplay to pyramid head, since he can fake his power and get a hit on survivors at pallets and vaults. However those people did obviously not watch botb tournament where he was pretty much dumpstered every game aside from one. So losing to him just means they did play bad that round and admitting that is something some people are not able to do as they have no reflection whatsoever.
Pyramid head isn't good enough to keep up with a tournament squad, that doesn't make his chase any less uninteractive, just means that against the literal tournament squads, he can't move fast enough or down fast enough to keep up with survivors slamming gens and intentionally leaving people to die so they can finish gens etc.
-
Majority of wraith players will tell you to go for a hit and run playstyle, and swear by using sloppy and nurses.
######### all that noise, speed wraith is where it's at.
Run double windstorm and endfury and BBQ, find survivor, uncloak and get a free hit. Recloak, catch up to the injured survivor and either try to body block or zone them into a better area and try to down them quickly. Depending on the loop and if you can use his super lunge well (if you begin your lunge a fraction of a second after you come out of cloak, you get a huge burst of speed) you can hit survivors around the short loops if you mindgame it correctly.
Basically this playstyle is: slam your face into every pallet and down people quick enough before you lose, and I kinda enjoy it on Wraith. A playstyle like this is also fun on Freddy (I wish Freddy players would actually play more aggressively than stack gen perks which would actually be pretty fun but that's a different topic)
-
Wait for a free weekend, or if you can share your Steam library to let her try it do that. I couldn't on my life recommend anyone in my friend group to buy this game at full price if they don't have it already.
-
Meh I'm kinda done with the Deathslinger chase talk. I run spine chill and iron will a lot now. His chase is BS and miserable so don't give him one, that's all you can do. This whole "juking his shot" nonsense is just not a thing. The only way you counter him is stealth let's just leave it at that.
-
I mean the only answer you need to this is "they believe their balance changes and decisions are what's best for the game" and why shouldn't they believe that? They've been making it for 4 years now, and we already know how they make most changes: If they've "looked at the data" and "are happy with the results", it's a W.

Yeah but like... 16 bit fantasy sandbox game.
I fail to see how that's a problem.
-
Tbh I've started going afk when I've closed the hatch and go make a coffee or something. Not worth spending 2 minutes going back and forth and not doing anything interesting to get 1 extra kill.
-
I like playing Blight, Wraith and Demo the most. As for playing against, I'd have to say Blight, Huntress and Demo. Billy used to be in that list but after what they did to him he's a ######### joke now and I can't take it seriously.
-
They treat the rift as a big money making scheme because...it is one. Once every 3 months they can take a couple of skins that they've already made, perhaps take existing skins and spend 10 minutes recolouring them, and charge money for it. It's genius, all the cool kids are doing it so it was only a matter of time.
Oh, are we gonna make the pass just a tiny bit more Grindy each time? Yes we are. Are we gonna shove it in your face after every single match and in the lobby and completely block a portion of the screen to tell you you've tiered up, even if you didn't buy the rift and didn't unlock anything? Absolutely!

How does iron will effect deathslinger?
Well you don't ever want to get in a chase or be found against Deathslinger, otherwise you die in 5 seconds if you're injured. Iron will helps a lot with that. It also makes it harder to tell how far survivors are away from rounding a corner and if you can just round the corner and sort of "pre-fire" at them. Not sure if it's something a lot of Deathslingers try often but I like doing it.
-
Iron Will, because Spirit and Deathslinger still exist.
-
DC? And then give the genius at BHVR who thought giving a permanent oblivious effect to an already bloated to hell Reddit killer a pat on the back for a job well done.
-
Oh my god they actually did make it worse. It's likely a bug, even though I have literally no clue how a bug like this could come around based on the changes they made...but sure.
-
??? No. Definitely no.
A lot of survivors aren't ignoring a hooked survivor, that survivor is usually getting patrolled and camped so they're rushing gens out before the survivor dies. Dying on 2nd hook is pretty common in higher ranks, especially now, this would be way too punishing. Let's not forget the ones who want out of the game and will get themselves killed on hook asap. Solo survivors are already punished enough by losing the match if one person dies quickly, and already get god awful BPs, you don't need to punish them further. Ridiculous idea.
-
Yeah I almost got excited when I saw they were changing something about Billy, only to realise it's just the blood and Mori effects...I seriously am far too optimistic about Billy being playable again.
-
But I have the numbers :(
-
I believe their answer was something along the lines of them not wanting players to become overwhelmed with percentages and numbers and not know what they do, or they don't want players to min-max their add-on choices...the fact that even the new CoD is gonna give you numbers and percentages when customising weapons is really saying something. It's a pretty insulting reason tbh.
-
Screams, obnoxious screen filters, more screams, static noises, annoying chase music...I have no problems with doctor's chase, he's not very good without the right add-ons, but everything else gives me a headache after a while. That's why I personally don't like him

Are you sure about that? I think BBQ, Corrupt,Pop,Shadowborn and double range add ons could clap any team
A good Nurse definitely could on a Macmillan or autohaven. Idk what the other guy is smoking. That was even more true when prenerf omegablink was a thing. Good times...she had some very fair and balanced add-ons before.
-
The longer a game sticks around, the sweatier and more horrendous its community becomes. Happens with every game, DbD has been out for 4 years now so it's hardly a surprise
-
Idc either way. If people don't wanna play the match and would rather leave that's fine with me, as long as I get some chases and BP in I really don't care much. As killer I couldn't care less. I only get people DCing if I'm playing Freddy, and I only want to ever play him for a daily so if they can cut my Freddy matches short I'm all for DCing lmao.
-
Pyramid Head's, because Akira Yamaoka's soundtracks are my childhood. Not to mention it absolutely SLAPS. Demo's is a very close 2nd though.
-
If you're facecamping them you're kinda giving them what they want, so I doubt they'll stop using it. The way I see it is that if using a perk has made a killer so mad that they're willing to literally sit staring at you and not play the game for 2 minutes just to make sure you die, the survivor has won.
-
Oh hey I just replied to you in that. I said that you should just pick who's the most fun to you because every killer is viable at almost all levels of play. But that being said...I'd say Freddy is the best. Ultra easy to play and gets a lot of ######### for basically free. Doesn't mean he's all that fun though, once you've played him for a couple of games there really isn't much else to learn about him you hit his skill ceiling very fast. Demo and Pyramid Head are tied in strength for 2nd imo. Bubba and GhostFace are ok, Myers and pig are quite meh and very outdated. They really need some QoL changes.
-
@SonicTheRestaurant said:
Is bubba any good then?
The buffs were definitely an improvement to him overall. Imo he's now quite decent even addonless. With add-ons he's actually very nice. His power is quite unintuitive to use but isn't that hard to learn, it's gonna take you a while to know where to use it though. He requires a lot more map and survivor knowledge than a lot of other killers.
And also I wouldn't really choose a killer based on if they're"good" or not. Go with the killers that you think look the most fun because every killer can perform perfectly fine in the majority of games you'll play.

On top of that, I think he needs the big old red light on the ground that the survivor can see before he shoots removed, because a survivor will always dodge that thing.
Idk about that, it kind of needs to be there because of the fact it can go through walls and you'll not even be able to see the pyramid head fire it sometimes. Then again the pyramid head won't have any indication as to where you are almost all the time unless you run through the trail...not sure. Maybe if it was only like a flash, or the light is slightly more delayed than it is now.
-
I've played a LOT of Deathslinger, and nothing I've learned or do with him has helped me against other Deathslingers at all. All I've learned is that bad Deathslinger players will quickscope at corners almost all the time, and good Deathslinger players have a brain and decent aim and will hit you no matter what because it's physically impossible to react to him shooting you. There's no strat it's just don't get spotted or you die in 10 to 20 seconds, unless they're not aiming well and having an off day or something.
-
@MrPenguin said:
Actually the change was an overall nerf, you gained a 1 second slow and 0.5 second of cancelling, for 0.5 seconds of recovery. So overall that's a 1 second negative and they gain more distance than before. Additionally they didn't address the main problem of his wave being dumb easy to dodge unless the survivor was animation locked, which is the main reason why no one goes for it, not the cooldown after. The cooldown after would be fine if the attack wasn't so slow and narrow with restricted aiming/movement.
If they really wanted to push this angle they need to reduce the cooldown further, otherwise the actual wave needs buffs.
The cooldown on his ranged attack doesn't need buffing further, it's his clunkiness that now needs to be addressed. Honestly I'd be all for him being even slower when cancelling his power as long as he had full sensitivity and camera movement. If console players could set the send to however high they want, and pc players get full mouse support I'd like him a lot more, there would be a lot more to learn about him. But right now you're still limited to the same turn speed and it's boring and unintuitive as hell when you're using a mouse or even a high sensitivity on a controller because you can't even turn the camera at your normal speed like that either.

I understand where you are coming from with this, I really do, but if people are giving up because of not having a perk or two then maybe this isn't the game for them. It's going to sound harsh, but it's true. I started playing with earbuds that had no bass so I couldn't hear a heartbeat, when insta moris were a thing, and when 3 bnps ruined a game. Here I am.
Players that want to play the game will learn what they want and how to get there, it's not some astronomical 1000 hour thing, it's maybe 200-300 hours to get some characters in a really good spot and still have back ups.
I have over 400 hours in the game. Only one of my characters have all perks unlocked on them. Only 6 or 7 of them are actually level 50 across both killers and survivors btw so I'm not even close to getting everything I want on all my killers and survivors. I don't even know many MMOs that make you play for that long before you finish the grind to endgame and don't have to worry about levelling anymore. It's obscene.

If you need some tedious grind to keep you playing the game, you probably don't actually enjoy the game very much. The rift and shard cosmetics exist now if you really need something to work towards.
Seeing as the next update is assigning each perk tier its own rarity, I doubt they're getting rid of perk tiers any time soon. It'd be nice if they'd at least give every character tier 1 of all perks they have unlocked (universal perks and any teachables that have been unlocked). That way you'd at least have all perks available to try out, even if it's their weakest version.
Give every character every universal and unlocked perk at tier 1? ...holy ######### that idea is amazing. BHVR have the perfect excuse as to why they wouldn't do this though and you already know what it is, which is a shame but something like this would absolutely be a huge help for people buying DLC and wanting to actually try out the content on day 1 (really good system you have BHVR, you want people to buy your DLC but killers and survivors with no perks is boring as hell and they won't get a good idea of how the killer plays until they've spent hours grinding BP to get the perks they need.)
Would also get me to actually prestige characters. Don't really want to prestige a character only to have them be unplayable for a long length of time.

Oh yeah...if I'm being honest I actually forgot Billy exists in the current state he's in because of Blight, but I would very much like that. Guess that should be added to my list too

As a partial Wraith main...oh man yes to the WS addon. Currently he is a BP sink on other characters simply to play him properly.
Although his pink tier 'see all gen progression' addon probably needs a nerf. I'm...awful at the game and I pulverized a much higher ranked SWF group with these two addons.
I think the purple all-seeing is stronger than the red tbh, and they should be swapped around. Red all-seeing is still REALLY good, but having wallhacks on survivors while cloaked is much stronger imo. Pair it with the silent bell and survivors have no idea which direction you're coming from at loops that cover his entire body until the last second. They have to guess which direction you're going and when you're going to actually windstorm around the loop.
Hey it's ok to use add-ons to your advantage but Wraith's all-seeing add-ons are a drug. Use them in moderation or you'll become addicted and it will never be the same lmao.
-
- Added an option to increase killer FOV by up to 15 degrees. Reworked shadowborn
- Increased the height of The Blight's camera slightly
- Increased Wraith's movement speed while cloaked to be on par with the green windstorm add-on. Reworked all windstorm add-ons into something else.
- The survivor aura reading of kindred is now default for all survivors.
- Add-ons and items can be salvaged to the entity for 50 Bloodpoints each. Ultra rares can be sold for 75 Bloodpoints
- Changed Billy's camera, animations back to the way they were. Removed the chainsaw roar. We looked at the data and we are sorry about this out of season April Fool's joke that went on for far too long.
Literally the only 5(6) things I want from DbD now. I couldn't give less of a ######### about anything else, just give me these 3 things and I'll like this game again.
Edit: added another point thanks to musicnerd reminding me that the billy changes weren't just a bad dream.

The attack is slow, heavily telegraphed and has a very narrow hitbox. Watch anyone play against PH and you see that a single step to the side is often enough to avoid it. Compare that to Huntress who might as well be throwing a damn elephant the hitbox is so large.
You could improve the turning, hitbox size, travel speed, or activation speed....any of those really, instead they went only for the cooldown.
I think they should really consider buffing the turn speed to be full mouse movement as well as the nerf and buff he's getting. They want people to predict survivor movements and hit them through walls etc, yet the turn speed is so slow and clunky that even when you get a hit it's not even remotely satisfying because his camera control is so unintuitive. Making it unrestricted would allow people to actually play him the way the Devs intended while also giving him a pretty high skill ceiling, because you'd have to practice your aim (plus I wanna 360 hit people through walls, it'd be ######### hilarious)

This perk literally lets you 2 piece people at so many loops. Especially at the start before people know you are running it. This room is a great example. Someone ran upstairs, took a hit, and boom. Free down. "Just hold W" is a really bad argument. I am already identifying a ton of areas where Blood Favor is a 100% free down. The 4k at 5 gens at rank 1 (because of blood favor) is just an added flex for this picture.
The areas that blood favour are getting you "free downs" are usually free downs even without the perk. It's probably good on Midwich but why in the hell would you ever willingly want to go to Midwich? Not just as killer but as either role? It's a horrendous map.
-
Or maybe they just wanted to change pop right now and not DS. Doesn't really do much anyway, everyone's running tinkerer/ruin/undying now, the 15 less seconds is barely a nerf. It is a dumb reason for the change, but BHVR have never been good at giving solid explanations to their design changes so I don't expect them to start now lol.
-
I think with the recent changes they could also give him actual full mouse control instead of limiting it to a set speed. Would help his clunkiness and would make predicting survivors an actually viable strategy. I thought he was gonna play like this in the first place when I heard what his power did, turns out he... didn't, and is instead a clunky boring mess that is only good for hardcore zoning
-
Surprised pyramid head isn't in s tier, it's where I'd put him. I swear it's like they're working on their next big art project with the amount of trails they're drawing around the hook.
