They specifically said that one motivation for the Ruin change was to reduce the synergy of generator slowdown perks. Especially the strongest combination Ruin + PGTW. They also hinted (by being vague as always), that they could do the same to other slowdown perks as well.
-
As if red rank survivors mean anything at this point. They could be a 5K hours meta deathsquad team, or 300 hours baby survivors. You get anything in red ranks now.

Not really.
They said that they were thinking about a Ruin-Change since July 2019. This is quite a long time. They did not have a Meeting on Monday where they came up with "Lets nerf Ruin!" and published that on Tuesday.
So I highly doubt that thoughts about Toolboxes were done over the last couple of days. However, you will need Data to determine how much you want to adjust Toolboxes. Because they should not be too weak aka useless, but you also dont want to adjust them multiple times.
They have enough data. Their own statistics said 55% of the games had no Ruin, and 20% of the red ranks. Thats more than enough data. So why did they not adjust toolboxes in the same patch they adjusted Ruin?
-
So basically what survivors can do then, is looping close to the hooked survivors, and therefor buy everyone additional time to finish generators with no downside (since the sacrifise is paused). No, thats a terrible idea.
If you want to counter camping, bring Borrowed Time and/or Decisive Strike. Those 2 perks are so strong, you can even use them when the killer is not even camping in the first place.

No need to be so agressive, I just didnt see that post.
I was not being aggressive. I was merely guiding you, in order to save everyone's time in the future.

Here, you can find a list of any newly reported known issues following today's update. Please be sure to check here before reporting a bug!
Rank Achievements Unlocking Randomly
We are aware that rank achievements are unlocking incorrectly. Do not worry, you are not at risk of being banned for this.
Decisive Strike does not stun the killer sometimes
We are looking into scenarios where Decisive Strike does not stun the killer in spite of succeeding the skill check. If you create a bug report, please be sure to let us know which killer you were playing against when this happened.
Totem and survivor pickup issues on Badham Preschool
Due to a collision change, some totems cannot be cleansed on Badham Preschool maps, and survivors cannot be picked up when next to certain objects. The map and its offering have been disabled until this issue is hotfixed.
Educate yourself.

Hope also activates upon the hatch being closed.
-
I personally modified my config files heavily, including disabling v-sync, for almost 2 years now, and I have not been banned yet, or ever got a EAC warning. So don't think its bannable.

So they made her difficulty actually match her insane potential to win games. And yet all these nurse mains are crying because they are realizing they actually have to be better than the survivors they are facing now (let's face it, in red ranks the highest number of boosted killers looking for easy wins was nurse players).
If I miss my hatchets as huntress I am punished by having to go reload. Nurse, the killer with the highest level of difficulty, now is unable to spam blinks until everyone is dead. That is a good thing.
If I miss my hatchets, I am heavily punished. That is fair, because huntress is a strong killer, able to end chases quickly.
If you miss your blinks, you are heavily punished. This is fair, because nurse is the killer who is able to end chases as fast as/faster than the rest of the killer roster.
Yes, the change sucks for new players. But, oh, wait, new players shouldn't be starting with nurse.
Nurse needs to spam blinks, because she is slower than survivor at base. How can you complain about that? Its like complaining about other killers spamming the W button in order to catch survivors.
And Nurse can't end chases nearly as fast as she used to be. A survivor getting hit and running forward can waste atleast 20-30 seconds of the Nurse's time, because that physically how long it takes for her to catch up again (assuming she used 2 blink for the hit), thats only slighty faster than a regular 115% speed M1 killers takes.
-
I always found the killer role way more interesting really. Now with queuing times for survivors being at an all time high (rank 4 EU PC, btw), I am playing an even higher percentage as killer. However I see myself playing less and less matches per day, because they ruined my baby Nurse (the cooldown, and the bugs are really annoying).
Once I deranked back to green ranks as survivors after 3 rank resets, I will most likely switch to survivor and do my best to stay at those ranks until they sorted out red rank queuing times.

It is obvious they don't listen to feedback, let's be real here. and we killers can only take so much abuse before we break
Killers are actually extremely resilent players. They endured times of literal infinites, instant BNPs, pallet vacuum, 4 obsession DS (not needing the 35% wiggel bar), and so on. So I dont think there will ever be a point before they break.
-
I never played nice, and will never play nice. I always use everything at my disposal to win, unless I realise that the team is truly completely potato.
Survivors are never nice to me, so why should I?
-
Loads of killers have gamebreaking bugs right now. I don't think Hag will get a special treatment here.
But hey, atleast they are working hard on the DS bug that works on 1 certain killer sometimes!
-
Assuming, I don't need to slug to gain pressure, I only hook if another hook is nearby. If the game screwes me by putting hooks like 30m away, I am not gonna pick you up.
-
Queing times are longer than the actual matches for me as survivor right now.
Rank 4, EU, PC, btw.
-
I got to red ranks with old Freddy and only using Rancor to mori the DS-user. Was he also OP as well?
-
You also shouldnt depip if you go against toolboxes. Especially if they do the gens in 4 minutes.

I define strength in terms of raw potential, not in terms of how that potential is realised on particular maps. I don't and never have ignored the fact that Nurse suffers on maps like Sanctum of Wrath, I just don't take external variables into account when assessing the strength of a killer.
I also didn't mention anything about balance, so I'm not sure why you're talking as though you're refuting one of my points in that last sentence of your comment.
You are basically measuring strength by how well a killer does under optimal conditions.
With current Nurse, Huntress actually does better under optimal conditions. On maps like Blodlodge a Huntress could theoretically land 5 hits in 20 seconds if she had a 100% accuracy. You could not say the same about Nurse, since she has a cooldown now. Even with cooldown add-ons she lands hits slower, especially since she travels slower than Huntress' hatchets.
A Hag can deal more damage per time, if her web gets triggered really fast.
Bubba can basically down the entire team in one charge.
Billly can do so as well, but with more flexibility.
Trapper could do, if his traps work out all at the same time.
Are all of those killers stronger than Nurse now?
-
Dedicated servers by design increase the interaction latency between killer and survivor, by putting a 3rd party between them. So its the logical consequence that hits gets more questionable for survivor.
So unless the developers tell killers to go f themselves and make hit detection serverside, essentially crippling high precision killers like Huntress or Nurse, there is nothing the developers can do.
-
Visually great, but gameplay wise, they made the map even more confusing. Rooms with 2 entries on the same wall seem to be common, meaning you can't use them to traverse the map diagonally. Finding generators and loops is still a mostly guessing game.
They also added some god pallets, like the one at the edges along the long room. Which was actually patched out ages ago, because, go figure, it was too strong.
It massively favours stealth now, as it is ridiculously dark, and has lots of ambient noise, which masks the already quiet survivor sounds.
The semi-dead zones for Nurse were not improved at all.
Overall the rework was a waste of time, in my opinion.
-
As a Nurse main, yeah, its kinds of off putting after the 4th of 5th time ...
-
Bug negatively affecting killers. History has shown that those are low priority.
-
Hillibilly is overrrated.
He has mobility, and onehit if he gets people outpositioned, yes. But since maps are littered with ultra-safe braindead loops, he just eats pallets like every other M1-killer. He is a noobstomper, since new players don't know how to utilise the loops, which will most likely get him nerfed in the future. However any semi-experienced player will never get chainsawed by Billy at all. He has to M1 good players, because curving does not work on the vast majority of the loops.
-
Killers have been dealing with loads of gamebreaking bugs for a long time now. I am glad that survivors now finally get to know that feeling as well.

Dude even by the dev's own low balled standards she is under performing having about a 47.5-48% average KR meaning even with the devs VERY low standards for KR she needs a buff.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/230/KSPIKOCTC8RD.png
Also I know these statistics are dated but they are also the most recent ones.
You are mistaking. The balancing standards are different for killer and survivors. Survivors are balanced around the average (which is why they changed Ruin), but killers are balanced around their highest skill (which is why they nerfed Nurse and Spirit). The stastics don't say anything.

I see where you're coming from but some things are easier to implement. Think of the ruin nerf as a preview of changes to come. I don't think you're wrong btw, I know the timing of these changes is an opinion thing and there's no right answer for when they should come. Personally I'm glad they didn't wait, it gives the community time to adapt and starts organizing the data early.
What changes to come? Buff toolboxes? Bring back 100% BNP? What is the Ruin change previewing?

You're mad about a guaranteed 8 minute match? Killer logic will forever elude my grasp.
Survivors can end the match in 5 minutes. Why can the killer not do the same?

I used to eat 4 DS shots before my first hook. Nope. Not on board with this one.
My opinion:
The survivors and killers on these forums that cry the most are usually making huge mistakes in the game that cost them. ie: Chasing a survivor for way too long OR hitting gens and ignoring totems only to get demolished by NOED.
With new DS, I get stunned way more often, than before the rework. And even if I don't get stunned, DS is still doing its work by keeping every survivor alive in the match for atleast 2 minutes each. Its basically impossible to snowball with new DS now, even less so when Unbreakable is involved.
-
Old Decisive Strike was less powerful than the new one.
Non-obsession DS rarely got into play, obsession DS could be dribbled, and its stun was shorter. Plus Enduring reduced it massively.
-
As long as sound is still ######### in this game, no map should be visually overhauled (and consequently made darker).
-
Meanwhile I get to rank 1 as survivor, even when I get downed 20 seconds into my chases. Yeah, I am definetely a pro-survivor now. I am the kind of potato that misses the DS skillcheck too. Yet, the game thinks I am a god.

She'll be a little more frequent as her bug fixes roll out. She's a bug-ridden mess right now. No joke, you won't get through a single game without encountering a bug that costs you a hit or two at minimum. I turned into a one blink Nurse halfway through a game the other night.
I wish I had a one blink game once. Whenever that bug occurs, I can't even blink the first time. The developers have no idea how painful it is to be 96% movement speed with no ability, otherwise they would get their ######### together and finally fix that bullshit.
The worst thing, survivors finally start to realise that bug, and abuse it to their full potential when they see it.
-
Finally survivors know what it is like to have gamebreaking bugs. Killer have to get used to that for a long time now.
-
Don't worry, they will nerf moris sooner or later ;)

That's a negative way to look at it...
I prefer the word "realist".
-
No such a thing as events anymore. Its just moneygrabbing now.
-
There are no overpowered killers anymore. Old omeblink Nurse, and old Prayerbeads Spirit were probably the only things that were truly uncounterable. Possibly closely followed by Tinkerer instanthatchet Huntress, and Billy flick.
But they got rid of all those OP add-ons, and perks, so yeah ...
-
The cooldown kills alot of fun, by interrupting the gameflow. Other killers have a cooldown too, but atleast they are still faster than the survivors during it. Add in dedicated servers, and the multitude of gamebreaking bugs she has right now, and she can be really frustrating alot of the times, unless you already mastered her.
She is still the strongest killer, but the massive punishment for mistakes leads away most people trying to get good with her.
-
I became a killer main when playing killer was fun. We had a functioning sound system, DS was not as crutch and had counterplay, Ruin helped slowing down the game, Nurse was fun to play (excluding addons), no dedicated servers cucking my killer-power.
Now all of this is gone ...

Ran into a map last night, The Temple of Purgation, that had three hooks in the basement of the Temple which also contained killer basement. So, basically seven hooks within about 10m of each other.
Also the other extreme. Was playing Nurse on a farm map the other day, and sacrifised one person in the corner of the map. Quickly downed another person, and picked them up for hooking. Turned out there was litterally no hooks within carrying distance. The other 2 realised that, and tried to hold the game hostage that way. Litterally had to let everyone bleed out on the ground, because of bullshit hook RNG.
-
Or fix some bugs.
-
@Peanits said:
Not intended, no. As FireHazard mentioned, it's a known issue and we're looking into getting it fixed.
Do you guys also plan on fixing the multitude of gamebreaking bugs for killer? Sound being messed up in general. Myers/Ghostface stalk being inconsitent, Hag not being able to attack right off the teleport, Nurse's blink sometimes being cancelled, or cut in in short, Clown's bottles not emitting any gas sometimes?
I don't recall the devs ever creating an announcment specifically for those.
-

Hag can't attack immediately out of teleportation right now.
A gamebreaking bug for a killer gets no attention from the devs. But they assured that they are working hard on fixing the DS bug ASAP.

I got the sarcasm <3
But seriously....my first time ever on there and my ears were practically ringing when stepping into a few rooms....playing as Spirit too...so yay on that experience of an auditory hell
As Nurse main, I feel your pain. The new room layouts make blinking hard. I never know how far I need to blink into a room without getting cucked by a random chair, or bed, or anything. New Lery's is by design more procedurally generated, so its insanely hard to predict survivor's movement now. That map is just an indirect nerf to the 2 strongest killers.
-
Late 2018, just before cancer Legion got released.
-
Good lord. Now that Ruin is out of the way, survivors are now attacking NOED.
-
You are not supposed to hear anything as killer. Hence why they nerfed sound, and make new maps very loud (Hawkins, Sanctum, Lery). That's because killer has to earn their hits. Being able to hear survivors would just give you free information with no risk or downside.
(Sarcasm by the way)

@Almo said:
DbD does not have a clearly defined win condition. However, the generators being completed is definitely not it.
Ideally the ranking system, in our case the emblem system, should rank how well you did.
-
Its not only for survivors, but also for killers miserable. Having a delay on your power can make huge differences for timing dependent killers like Nurse, Hag, Myers, Ghostface, etc.
