  • Ah yes, let's add even more reasons for survivor mains to quit playing the game.

    Sign me up.

  • Nurse will probably be nerfed at some point, it's the direction BHVR has been going in for a while. Lowering the skill ceiling to accommodate new/casual players (probably 90% of the player base) over veteran, high skill, high hour players (probably 10% of the player base).

For someone who has played for five years, it's sad but understandable why BHVR do this stuff so to keep new people playing (spending money).

Although saying that, I'd much rather go against a disgusting strong nurse over a killer whose power makes me want to throw my PC out the window before setting fire to it. There are far too many soul-destroying/anti-fun killers in the game.

  • We’re comparing her to doctor?

    Really…

  • @Crowman said:

So 1 bad game means the system doesn't work? You do know your other killer mmrs are being factored to prevent you from just getting matched against completely new people.

    Yes. It does.

If they're saying that you will get "easier matches when you’re trying out a new Killer for the first time." and you don't. Then it does not work as intended.

  • @TacitusKilgore said:

Because of how jacked up the MMR system is, you'll likely have to get obliterated 10-15 times before it starts adjusting you to people of your skill level. Suffer through it, if it makes it any easier everyone is gonna have to do it.

"Skill based matchmaking ratings are also separate for each Killer, meaning you’ll have tougher matches with the Killer you’re really good at, but easier matches when you’re trying out a new Killer for the first time."

If that's the case then that's okay. It's just not how they worded it in their Q&A. Seems to defeat the point of the whole thing imo.

  • SWF then Killer then 100 miles down the road you’ve got Solo Queue.

  • How many maps are disabled now? The Game? RPD? Blood Lodge? Dead Dawg Saloon?

    💤

  • I imagine a lot of killers will stop playing when they realise they're not as good as they thought they were.

I, like anyone else who played enough could easily get to Rank 1. But the reality is if I get matched with very good teams I'll get destroyed. No one is going to enjoy getting shat on every game.

The argument of 'when people play more games their MMR will change and they'll be matched with players at their level' is great. But let's be honest. Is that really going to happen consistently? Not a chance.

Spirit can't hear footsteps while phasing, and at least half of all survivors run Iron Will now since the Stridor nerf. Iron Will is bugged as well. Survivors emit zero breathing audio with the perk, healthy or injured. Spirit is terrible to play right now

Do you know if that was an intentional nerf to Spirit or just an oopsie from the Devs?

  • Sell Out

You value your own life more than your fellow survivors. You must survive.

Whilst in chase, pressing the Active Ability button silences your footsteps/grunts of pain and removes any scratch marks for 10/15/20 seconds.

When Sell Out activates, all other survivors have their positions revealed to the killer and suffer from the Exposed status effect for 10/15/20 seconds.

    Cool down 120 seconds.

    ------

Ridiculous perk but I'd enjoy ****ing my friends over with it.

  • It's a pretty transparent attempt at trying to bring players back into the game. We know that they've lost 9,000 players this month on Steam so instead of addressing the major issues that are pushing people away from DBD, they're offering login rewards to bribe players to load the game up.

Fix matchmaking, fix hit registration and stop pumping out expensive cosmetics until you've done it. If you put in as much effort into addressing the fundamental issues of the game as you do with creating new cosmetics and paid-for content, the game would be near-perfect.

    IT'S BEEN FOUR YEARS.

  • Matchmaking has always been a joke.

It's simple. Change it so that red ranks, play with red ranks. Purple ranks play with purple ranks. Green ranks play with green ranks. Yellow ranks play with yellow ranks. Brown ranks play with brown ranks. NO EXCEPTIONS (other than SWF, where the killer matches the highest ranked survivor). Yes there are going to be instances where there's a mismatch in quality as rank does not always represent skill but for the most part, it'd a far, far better system than what we have.

A rank 15 killer should never have to go up against a red rank survivor. Ever. New players will just want to set fire to their PC/console if they keep getting matched with players who are considerably better/more experienced than them.

  • It's just getting boring now. I'm Rank 2 survivor at the moment and have just had game after game after game of mismatches tonight. Just turned the PC off after playing three games back to back against Rank 14+ killers and after getting matched with Rank 14+ survivors.

Players who are new to the game are going to be discouraged from playing it if they keep going up against players who are considerably better than them. The fundamentals of the game should be near-flawless before you start pumping out DLC's, new maps and tons of other paid-for content. The game has been out for over 4 years and it's the same old issues time after time. Getting hit through pallets? Getting matched with red ranks after only playing the game for 3 hours? Getting hit through windows despite being 50 feet away? Audio bugs? Getting stuck in rocks? It doesn't matter because you can buy a Minotaur skin for the low, low price of $15!

    -_-

  • Probably Demodoggo. He has made me come close to following through on several occasions in game.

Shirtless Myers would be my man of choice though. Who wouldn't want to be chased after by that beef cake? Shame we're not likely to ever get that cosmetic. I'd genuinely pay upwards of $30 for that bad boy.

  • I thought matchmaking had been fixed?

I'm Rank 7 killer at the moment and have come up against low red ranks consistently tonight.

If I get bored of being pooped on and try to play survivor for a bit, I'm looking at a 5+ minute wait to get a game at purple ranks.

    :(

  • I had the same issue just now.

I haven't played DBD for a few weeks. First game tonight as killer and I end up with three rank 2's and a rank 14.

I'm pretty good and have played for quite a while. But if a new player has to come up against lobbies like that, they'll lose interest in the game very quickly.

Glad to hear that they're fixing it but considering the game is now 3 years old, you'd think that these sorts of issues would have been all figured out by now.

  • Decisive Strike doesn't need a nerf.

It's only active for a max of 60 seconds after being hooked. When a good killer sees that there's an obsession, they'll probably assume that every survivor in the game has DS and avoid picking them up for 60 seconds if they can. On top of that, you can only use it once and if you miss the skill check, you've just brought a perk to a game that you can't use.

Removing its effect out of lockers would just make an average perk weaker.

  • Same as usual to be honest.

In EU, after 7PM I expect to wait a good five minutes to find a game as Survivor.

As Killer I usually find games within 10 seconds but I only seem to come up against toxic SWF groups at this time so I just don't bother playing.

For some reason I find it a lot harder going up against SWF on console over PC.

  • Haven't played in a month or so. Fancied a bit of killer. Waited 15 minutes on PS4 to get into a game at rank 13 and was matched with 2 rank 5's and 2 rank 3's.

Tried survivor - waited 5 minutes to get a lobby at rank 16 and get a rank 4 killer.

    Game uninstalled.

  • It's ridiculous.

I'm a decent killer but an ass survivor. I'm a bit burnt out as killer so I thought I'd give survivor as bash. The last 5 games I've had tonight have been red rank killers against Rank 15-20 survivors. It has been a complete ######### storm.

I'm starting to feel sorry for the killers to be honest! The longest game so far has been about 5 minutes and no killers have got above 20,000 points!

  • The one and only time I wasn’t messaged post game and told to either kill myself, suck a dick or delete the game.

    That was a good day.

  • I am a well-endowed owner of a pirate ship.

  • I hadn’t played DBD since the new killer came out - first game back was today.

No idea how they’re justifying this ranking system. It is utter dog #########. I just played against a gen rushing SWF group - 3 gens done in about 3 minutes. I then ended up 3king with 2 gens left and the last player got the hatch. Every survivor was hooked twice. Yet I didn’t pip.

No thanks. I won’t be playing killer again!

  • I hate dark maps. Swamp maps are my least favourite. They depress me! But I guess this is the norm in a horror game. It's unlikely to happen but I'd love a tropical island resort themed map. Like the Dead Island resort. It'd be awesome to have a daytime map but it's unlikely. So I'd take sunset!

  • Shirtless myers.jpg

Shitless Myers - Just take my money.

Or... Mankini Myers or David. Again... Take even more of my money.

    mnkini.jpg

  • I main Spirit at R1. She's probably the most powerful killer in the game. Nurse and Billy are good in their own right, but Spirit pips it for me.

    Everything @thesuicidefox says is right.

Ultimately, the best way to get better against her, is to play with her. The same goes with any killer. Once you understand how they work and what their strengths/limitations are, you'll be able to counter them a lot more effectively.

  • In all seriousness. It annoys me too. I don't play survivor too much because at low ranks - most survivors do far too many dumb things. I played a game earlier where the 3 other survivors had all been downed by Billy's chainsaw before any gens had been touched. How are you supposed to enjoy a game like that?

  • What a terrible thread.

  • Nice idea.

I mean, if they can stick an ancient Babylonian temple in the middle of Red Forest, Fisherman's Wharf wouldn't look out of place in, I don't know? Haddonfield? 😂

  • NOED is an ass perk. I'm a R1 killer main, hate it and never use it. 90% of my games are finished by the time 5 generators are repaired. I'm not going to run a perk that I might use in 10% of my games.

BBQ, Hex: Ruin and Nurse's Calling are strong perks but can all be dealt with. BBQ - get in range or hide in a locker, Hex: Ruin - destroy the totem, Nurse's Calling - stay out of range. In no way are they crutch perks.

I agree that ranking needs work though. There is a massive range in skill levels at R1. This applies to survivors more than it does killers IMO. Every survivor at the highest rank of the game should be able to pallet loop effectively, dodge hits and know how to juke killers. I come across way too many survivors at R1 who are no better than survivors at R10. They get there either because they're carried by SWF or they play the game a lot. Anyone can reach R1 if they play enough.

The same applies with killer. Although no killer has been carried to R1 by friends like some survivors. They've either played the game for a long time or they're legitimately good at the game. Either way, I refuse to believe that there are 'noob' R1 killers in the game to the same extent there are 'noob' survivors.

  • To be fair, David already looks, runs and sounds like a gorilla in this game. That's good enough for me.

  • I used to rotate Myers, Trapper and Billy at red ranks. All pretty enjoyable to play with. Nurse isn't anywhere as near as powerful on console as she is on PC so I don't touch her unless I've got a daily.

I bought Spirit a couple of weeks ago and have never looked back. I don't even bother dodge what I deem to be toxic SWF lobbies anymore - she's that powerful. I've had a day off today and played about 10 games at red ranks with her. I only failed to 4K once against a really strong team - where the last survivor got the hatch with 2 gens left.

It still doesn't change the amount of abuse I receive, mind! But instead of 'git gud, eZ, n00b tra$h killer' it's 'die', 'hacker', 'cheater'.

In summary. I wouldn't complain about being good at Spirit. She's one of the most powerful killers in the game, particularly on console.

  • The fact that we have a shirtless David but no shirtless Myers. It's a travesty.

  • Honestly. It looks like they ran out of time so just decided to copy what they had done and stick it in the middle of Red Forest.

When the teaser came out I had envisaged a catacomb style map, which would have been awesome. Underground, tight spaces, tunnels etc. Sadly it’s just more of the same of what we already had.

It’s a shame because the temple looks really well designed and thought out. The idea of the killer is refreshing and the backstory (described on the livestream) sounded really promising. It deserved more than a half-baked attempt of a map copied into a pre-existing one.

  • I've only had this on two occasions on Backwater Swamp.

It is an absolute nightmare to come up against but thankfully it's very rare. Although I suppose because it's so rare, it's hard to replicate and fix!

  • Nice post :)

Every game developer should make an effort to make their games more accessible for people with disabilities. The problem is, is that there are thousands of disabilities that all carry different characteristics meaning that hundreds of different accommodations would need to be made, which of course, would be impossible to implement.

I think that slower response times and reduced co-ordination is a pretty common characteristic in many different types of disability. Maybe an unassigned teachable perk could be added to the game that enlarges the size of the skill check indicator and slows it down. It wouldn't necessarily be that much on an advantage to a typical player as hitting skill checks isn't too difficult, but to others who out of no fault of their own find it difficult, it could make a world of difference and open the game up to them.

  • If I think I'm going up against a SWF group, I'll just leave the lobby and join another one.

As far as the devs changing things so that all survivors spawn in at the same time. If they do it, I'll just DC if I'm put up against a group of toxic survivors, right up until they bring in harsher punishments for DC'ing. At that point I'll just stop playing the game all together.

I've gone up against hundreds of SWF groups. The vast majority have ended in me being abused. I play the game because I want to get enjoyment out of it. Being told to kill myself because I killed someone does not give me enjoyment. Nor does going up against a SWF team all carrying flashlights and running DS. Not to mention the fact that going up against SWF as a Rank 1 killer is like playing on Veteran mode. Verbal communication shouldn't be a part of the game. That's why killers dodge lobbies. That's why killers DC.

Survivors (and the developers) need to realise that without killers, there is no game. Treat them like ass for long enough and they'll just stop playing. Which is what is happening. Wondering why lobby times are horrendous? Because there aren't enough killers playing the game.

  • To be honest, I don't blame people from disconnecting against SWF groups.

I was being chased by the killer after about 20 seconds from the start in a SWF game. I randomly ran past his Hex Ruin in the most ridiculous of places (behind a flaming barrel in a corner of the map no one would normally visit), told my friend over the mic where it was whilst I ran the killer away from it. He cleansed it. The killer disconnected immediately knowing that I had obviously just told my friend where it was as there was no way anyone would have just stumbled across it.

I've always known that SWF from a killers perspective sucks. But today highlighted that further. Voice comms is just ridiculously overpowered, it has the effect of giving survivors at least 5 extra perks each and definitely should not be allowed in 'ranked play'.

So I kind of expect people to DC against SWF lobbies. As a killer I'll always stick them out and do my best. But when you're being tea-bagged, hook swarmed, flash lighted and verbally abused post game by SWF groups - I can understand why people do it.

  • PC users have a mouse and keyboard as default. They can use controllers if they want to but this doesn't put them at an advantage over other players because you have far more control with a mouse and keyboard.

Whereas on console, everyone has a controller as default. If players were able to use mouse and keyboard it would give them a massive advantage over players using controllers, simply because people using controllers have far less control over the movement of survivors/killers.

  • Mine is Vinc3ntVega - He streams 6pm - 10pm EST.

He's funny as hell, a good survivor/killer and doesn't take the game too seriously. He interacts with chat more than any other streamer I know. His beard is also majestic.

Definitely check him out if you can. He's well worth your time!

  • I'd put Shirtless Myers in the store.

Then I'd retire immediately as I am a builder and severely under-qualified to run a video game development studio.

  • All incorrect. There is only one correct answer.

    Survivor - Shirtless David
    Killer - Shirtless Myers.

  • Hopefully they're spending the time designing Shirtless Myers. I'm expecting nothing less than big guns and chiseled abs, guys.

  • Myers can make a great toxic build if you've had enough of tea bagging, purple flashlights, pallet looping gods and messages telling you to go and jump off a cliff.

If I see that I'm up against a SWF group with flashlights, I'll whack on a 'Fragrant Tuft Of Hair' (unlimited Tier 3). Any tea bagging or light flickering then I'll just act like I'm playing around with them and stalk them whilst they're messing around it front of me until I reach Tier 3.

Easiest 4k in the game if you play it right.

The sheer intensity of salt post game is a beautiful sight to behold. Almost on the levels of insidious, basement Leatherface.

    Hello guys.

I'm playing for a half year now and I play every day. Love this game but I hate that it's not reportable when a Killer is camping. I played so many matches and 95% of the killers have no skill and just camp. I know u can outplay campers really easy but 99% of the time I play with friends so u want to save your friends. And it's frustrating that so many players do it and they really kill the game for me and my friends.

I hope it will be reportable to report campers :)

    Regards TheColdBeauty

There's nothing wrong with camping. The devs wouldn't have created 'Insidious' if they didn't want to encourage it. It is a legitimate strategy used by killers to ensure a kill. The downside of camping for the killer is that it allows the remaining players to repair gens undisturbed.

If you're playing with your friends are run into campers 95% of the time as you say, then run Borrowed Time. Simple.

  • We're Gonna Live Forever (because bloodpoints)
Borrowed Time (because I don't like hook farming)
Self Care (because I usually take hits when I protecc the survivors I unhook)
Distraction (because I like throwing rocks at killers at the exit gate to ensure I get a salty message)

  • If you're a new player, I strongly recommend getting The Cannibal.

BBQ & Chilli is one of the best perks in the game. When you hook a survivor you can see the auras of other survivors at variable distances depending on what tier the perk is at. It's a teachable perk at Level 35.

It also gives you a stackable bloodpoint bonus every time you hook a survivor for the first time (at tier 3 you can get 25% bonus bloodpoints every time you hook a new survivor (so if you hook all 4 you get 100% bonus).

Same logic behind playing ranking up with David as a survivor first. We're Gonna Live Forever is a teachable perk that grants bonus bloodpoints too. Meaning you can level up quicker.
