Just farm the killer challenges you don't like. Thats the big advantage of the killer ones.

You know i seriously must be quiet dense. I didn't even think of that thanks for advice

So if someone had "Let me live" or "Don't hook me/Don't hit me" you would give them what they wanted? My guess would be no because that would be going against what the objective of the game is for you. It isn't bad that you mori'd them, it's bad that you mori'd them and complained here about their name on this forum like it matters or is some sort of badge of justification.

This post boils down to "Lol I mori'd someone who had "mori me" as their name, I'm so quirky."

No it boils down to becareful what you ask for and op isn't complaing he's simply expressing is lack of understanding on why a survivor who's name asked for a mori would get upset that they got morried.

It isn't bad you misunderstood the post, it is bad that you think that this post doesn't matter since this forum is a place where people can share their thoughts and feelings

Honestly this post boils down to "Omg a killer morried a survivor I'm so angry"

  • Well I know if I want to farm I hit pallets or gens without damaging them in the line of sight of survivors as if to say. "I wont sacrifice you, maim you and slow you down but not sacrifice. So we can both get points"

  • @SaltedSnow said:

The farming you're talking about refers to the killer and survs working together to maximize their bloodpoint gain. Most people don't mind it though some dislike it and would rather play a proper game. If I'm stomping a game hard I tend to turn it into a farming game and let the noobs escape.

There's another kind of farming, which basically amounts to sandbagging your team in order to get more BP.

What's Sandbagging? Like slowing them down or working with the killer against other survivors. Or something else

Yeah, this game is Survivors vs. Killers at it's core, but we also NEED each other. And that is part of the reason that I play both.

Without one side, we cannot have the other. Cooperation and not tearing at each other's throats is somehow better for us and for the game's health.

See someone gets it. We can be on opposite sides and be cordial

  • What I meant is people post on here alot about how the devs should nerf a survivor or killer or buff a survivor or killer. For example people would say nerf (insert killers name here) Or buff (insert survivor perk here)

  • @FFabeq said:

    I deeply agree

A ping is what your connection speed is to a server.

    1. < 30 ms - excellent ping; almost unnoticeable; ideal for online gaming
    2. 30 to 50 ms - average ping; still ok for online gaming
    3. 50 to 100 ms - somewhat slow ping time; not too noticeable for web browsing but may affect gaming
    4. 100 ms to 500 ms - slow ping; minimal effect on web browsing, but will create noticeable lag in online gaming
    5. > 500 ms - pings of a half second or more will add a noticeable delay to all requests; typically happens when the source and destination are in different parts of the world

Hover over the green/yellow dash and it will let you know the ping of ths survivors if you're the killer and bottom right if you are a survivor to see your ping.. if you ever see that dash red leave cause you aint gonna have fun there..

To answer your other thing, i'm doing good what about you, how are you getting on with the quarantine? I myself haven't really been affected by it as i work from home and never leave anyways haha.

**got the ping stuff from techterm.com**

Anything that isn't a mermaid would work. A kelpie is a water spirit that takes the form of a black horse. The devs have already said they won't do non humanoid killers due to the cost to make a new skeleton. Anything that is humanoid like the vampire I mentioned would work.

In some versions tho the kelpi can take the form of what ever the person most desires. But thats only if that person wronged the kelpie I could be wrong and am just thinking of some other type of faye folk

  • True True. Ok what about something closer to the sirens of Greek mythology. Or the one you aforementioned. Or even a banshee or a kelpi

  • That would work better i must admit.

But what if she only had a tale when using her special power. Like how the oni changes wepons

  • @DarkHunter99 said:

To be honest, I've been having an ok time as killer. Ever since Deathslinger came out, I've been having a lot more fun as killer than before. I'm currently a Rank 2 Killer and most of the games I've been getting are pretty chill, but I do get some stressful ones from time to time. I just recently tried to get Adept Deathslinger and I did 2 games and I got a Ruthless and a Merciless (Both games I got a 4k). These games were very challenging for me (I got The Game and Torment Creek) but I managed to beat them.

I understand that SWFs are painful to go against, but don't dwell on it. If you go up against a SWFs group, just try your best and if they escape, they escape. SWFs is a very strong tool for survivors and you just have to accept that. You could dodge the lobby, but if you feel like the next game is going to give you a hard time, just take a break from the game. This game is designed to be frustrating, so if your constantly playing this game, it won't be good for your mental health. I have these moments constantly, where I get anxious about the game I'm going to play.

All in all, If you have a bad game, just move on and don't think about it. Dwelling on your experience will just discourage you and make you feel miserable, and if your at that point, take your mind off the game and do something else. That's all I can say. 😊

Not exactly what I expected as the first comment but hey it did help thanks yo

  • Thanks so much.

Then why do people get mad at noed. I've used it in about 15 games and not once did it ever light up

Maybe I'm just bad lol I can't seem to make it past 13

  • Why not Voltron. Or Vol ture

  • When I first started I started as killer. I never even thought of nor experienced alot of what people complain about weather it be a survivor problem it killer problem. Then I found this site and it kind opened my eyes, so I started playing survivor more and it really does help you see both sides of the controversy. But I still don't get why anyone would call for a killer to be nerfed. Let alone all killers. I mean that's kind one of the biggest things about the game. And on top of that, it's not the killer character it's self, it's the person playing them

  • @Deathslinger said:

    Hella hella hella

As a killer main, I feel the pain of a SWF team and it usually detriments my build, because I’m a sucker for RNG Hex builds, and I’d rather play solo (no mics) because that’s how the game was meant to be played.

As a guy with a few friends who still play occasionally, I do enjoy playing with them and sharing the salt or hearing them screaming, when caught off guard. I get why ppl would want to enjoy DbD and communicate while they play, the devs just dropped the ball on how they built the game.

I just wish the survivors wouldn’t act like they are not cheating. I still firmly believe that they have an unfair advantage. It would be like if they added a 2 killer v 4 survivor mode but the extra killer was an Accomplice and couldn’t injure a survivor, just had the tools to spy and relay that info to the killer. Now the killer knows where you are and what your doing most of the game.

Gimme the same info gathering power as 4 survivors and I could have a much easier time killing survivors~

Thank you finally someone gets it.

Why would they not just close it? Isn't that considered griefing and or toxic? just close the hatch or change it so that the killer's action does not override the survivors? kinda bunk

Oh. I thought u meant them closing the hatch. Well then in that case then yeah that is kinda toxic

  • Yes. And there's nothing wrong with it if he gets there before you then tough luck it's the killers job to hook you so if he sees the hatch open and catches you that's him playing the game

  • @JC316 said:

Well, if you were a PC player than I could direct you to the DBD Discord... but you're not. We DO however have a sub-forum specifically made to look for teammates or players, and there's a section that I can link at the end for you to look at!

Before that though, I want to cover some Survivor tips, the best ones I can give is in the form of a video and some side-tips beforehand. As a Survivor, you'll want to focus on the Killers red-stain (Their red light) when you're using loops with high walls that remove visibility to the Killer themselves. The issue with this though, is that if the Killer knows to mind-game around corners than it's a hit or miss on if they're coming around the corner or not. If the loop is long on one side or both, than it doesn't matter if they moonwalk around the corner or not, you can just determine if they doubled back or not by seeing if they round the corner or if they don't they're probably going to the other side to meet you there.

Other important things you'll want to know is when to save Survivors, you'll want to save them when The Killer is a fair distance away, but if it's a scenario where they refuse to leave the hook, than you'll want to save them with another Survivor to help body-block or distract the Killer to attempt the save.

Besides that though, this video on base tiles/loops should cover everything you'll need

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6QYjInzLeM&t=11s

    SIDE-NOTE

Some of the maps here have been reworked or don't show these basic tiles in them, such as the maps that came after like Hawkins and the reworked Lery's which never had these tiles in the first place. Other maps have been released as well like Yamaokas Temple of Wrath, so keep that in-mind when you don't see them in this video. Besides that, the video still covers the basic tiles that you'll find on most maps like Cold-Wind, Macmillian Estate, Azarov's, both Yamaoka maps, some parts of Badham Pre-school, etc.

Also, here's the link to the "Looking for Players" sub-forum

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/lfp-xbox-one

This link will directly take you to the Xbox One section of that sub-forum!

Dude/dudette your awesome thanks so much and do u have to be a PC gamer for the dead by daylight discord? Cuz with call of duty mobile I play with PC gamers all the time. Also if someone if playing dbd on PS4 and I'm playing on Xbox could we play with each other or is there no cross console option

That's a fair few questions. I'll try to answer them all as best I can.

Firstly, why do survivors wait at the exit gate for you to hit them before leaving? There are a couple of reasons, but no, they don't get more points if they leave injured. Sometimes, they do this as a means of rubbing their victory in your face. Usually the ones with that attitude will run around in circles, spam flashlights, and maybe even leave right before you manage to hit them. However, some survivors will wait around at the gate because they know you get points for hitting them, and they want to ease the sting for you a little bit by giving you some extra last-minute bloodpoints - a bit of a consolation prize, if you like, for the fact that you lost.

What defines toxicity? You'll get different answers to that from pretty much everyone. In my opinion, toxicity is a behaviour or an attitude. It's not about what builds or mechanics you employ, but how and why you do so. No build or mechanic on its own is inherently "toxic", but people can be toxic and often use particular items, perks or mechanics which allow them to behave that way. A basic definition for toxicity is, if what the person is doing serves no tactical purpose - especially if it actually hinders their chances of victory - and the only thing they get out of it is making others suffer or feel bad in some way, then it's toxic. Examples of toxic behaviour (though admittedly only mildly so) in DBD include teabagging the killer as a survivor, or hitting hooked survivors as a killer. They don't do it to help them win the game, they only do it to gloat and make their opponent feel bad.

Is the scenario you described camping? Yes, absolutely. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. No reasonable person would expect you to leave the hook when you know there are survivors right there who you could hit. However, it's also a mistake not to chase anyone for fear of someone else coming to rescue the hooked survivor. One of the biggest lessons to learn as a new killer is that it's okay for survivors to get rescued from the hook. Basically, if leaving the hook is more likely to get you another hook than staying around, it's a good idea to leave. But if you know there are other survivors nearby just waiting for you to leave, feel free to search the area for them instead.

As for where camping crosses the line from strategy to toxicity, it comes back to what I was saying earlier about intent. Camping, in and of itself, is never toxic. But it could be considered to be so if the killer doing it is willingly relinquishing a strategic advantage in order to camp the hook, just because they want to ruin the hooked survivor's game. An example of this might be if other survivors try to start a chase, but the killer refuses to chase or even hit them. If there are tactical reasons to camp, it's absolutely fine. If there is no tactical reason and it's purely about ruining the game for others, then it's toxic.

Thank you tbh from reading other threads I've seen on here a lot was unclear since it seems everyone has a biased opinion weather it be for killers or survivors. I appreciate the help

  • @GrootDude said:

Technically speaking, yes, since the game does allow it. It doesn’t really penalize survivors majorly anymore though since dedicated servers are here (which is my favorite part about the servers).

Can you explain what a dedicated server is I'm new lol

  • @FireHazard said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1117734#Comment_1117734

I mean it just depends on Region, time of day, and rank for the most part.

If you're in ranks Yellow or Grey than you'll naturally have long queue times, especially this late into the rank reset. If you're in Green, Purple, or Red, than it could just be the time of day or region you play in. From the sound of it, you're farther away from Dedicated Servers than some others, so naturally you'll face a bit more lag as a result.

As for queue times though? It varies on how many people play in California with your rank set and what time of day it is, but usually at Red Ranks you'll insta-load into matches as a Killer and take a bit of time as a Survivor. Sometimes it's vice versa for some players though.

Thanks for the info im a newish player so that makes sense

  • @Fibijean said:

I often have that problem with matchmaking, but not often. It depends a lot on what role you're playing, what region you're playing in, your rank and the time of day. In short, it depends on how many other people there are in the matchmaking pool at the same time as you, and what proportion are queuing for each role.

And no, the loading screen tooltips aren't synced across all players. As far as I'm aware, they are completely randomised, with the exception of tooltips explaining how to play as or against a particular killer which seem to be guaranteed to appear the first few times you play as or against them.

Thanks and I figured the match making was like that. What's super wired tho is I stay in California and I have the most match making lag during the day time

And like if your in a loop around a pallet or something the slime makes it slippery and if the slip they enter injured state
