Wish granted. Addons now spawn less frequently. Increased Mori-Spawnrate as compensation. /s

Addons for killers need to be more, since there is no way to keep them after a game (except blackward). Some killers even need addons to be playable (like the bag-addons for trapper).

    ? Big false there

The game has been on console for at least two years, it didn't "literally just release".

The value you hold on rank doesn't matter anymore. Again, it is not used in matchmaking anymore.

It's basically only a pat on the back for yourself.

    Don't believe me? I don't care.

You're free to message peanitz or get in contact with the devs yourself.

Hell, read the latest DBD news. It's been coming for a while.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/179192/community-questions-skill-rating-matchmaking#latest

You can argue it's viability all you want, but it means nothing if it isn't being implemented into matchmaking.

If you’re going by what the devs “said” then that means the rank 20 Oni I versed last night with 2 perks who didn’t know how to kick a generator, dash and barely got swinging down is on the same level as someone with 3-4K hours is ludicrous. And that match was 50+ games in

Or is the rank 13 Pig I faced yesterday, who thought they could mind game the shack with a pallet down, and literally thought they could “mind game” by stepping in and out of the window was going to work....they’re on the same level right?

If the devs don’t feel ranks matter, they should be removed. If there’s a new ranking system, then there should be tiers (think rainbow six) and everyone should know where they are, if they progressed or not, what the basic parameters for that are, etc.

saying a new system is working behind the scenes with no transparency is a joke.

also: the game has been on PS4/Xbox for over 3 years

See, you already don't understand. The "highest rank" hasn't been established yet. This is the establishing phase of MMR. His hours and his old rank mean nothing to the current system. This is basically a reset. Yes, I'm sure that since the MMR system was running in the background that he's got a pretty decent MMR already, but as there are so many players and we're on day 2 of MMR matchmaking, there's going to be a lot of incidents like this for a few days. It's normal, and expected.

You have to pair people with more than just the default rating in the establishing phase, and, I know people don't like to think very far through this, but those "new" players could've just won 8 games in a row against other "new" players because everyone they went up against was more of a potato than them. So then the MMR will toss you against bigger and bigger fish until you get beat, then it'll go lower again.

You guys see a single game results screen from one player and assume you know the story of all 5 people.

You’re stating how other games have implemented an MMR. This is bhvr. The MMR is hidden, there are no tiers to understand progress or regression. There is no known understanding of what helps or hurts MMR.

From a rank standpoint, for example, I’ve played games where I’ve done 2 gens, for a safe unhook on the only hook in the game, lost the killer in chases, escaped through hatch, and de-pipped (seriously). Having zero faith that the MMR is that much different than what they already use for scoring and rank, how would a game like that affect the other people who couldn’t save, etc.

what about the games where you’re caught in chase for a majority of the match, don’t have an opportunity to save/heal/etc and go down at the end to NOED and die on first hook?

Until there are actual known tiers or some understanding of what’s being calculated, there’s zero reason there’s actually a true MMR system even in place

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

He needs to play the same killer and dominate multiple times to get enough points for a higher game. Switching killers, letting survivors have hatch or survivors living affects your MMR. Win every match with the same killer and you'll see him get harder opponents.

Update: Ortz just had a Trapper game with 3 level 2's and a Rank 3 who all probably depipped and went down a Rank. It fluctuates until the points are settled.

where did the devs reveal the MMR system?

  • @DrDeepwound said:

He is also going to stop giving hatch because letting them go makes your MMR worse.

How would anyone know that definitively if the supposed MMR system is hidden?

  • Well over 30 games in now. Feels exactly like every other game of dbd over the past several months.

Meaning - getting paired with 2-3 yellow ranks, sometimes red ranks, sometimes purple or green. Pairing vs a variety of killers.

Maybe there really is an MMR system. A secret, hidden MMR system that has no tiers, that no one can see, that works behind the scenes, and tiers are hidden from players because iz good. Sure 😂

Huntress is one of the most balanced killers in the entire game next to Billy, and while her hitboxes are a bit wonky at times, that's mostly a server issue. The speed of a hatchet it also slower than the speed of DS shot, and you seem to be forgetting that Deathslinger has to reload, which doesn't take all that long, and the Huntress gives you more than enough time to get plenty of distance between her throw, windup and charge.

Her lullaby also has no reason to be changed because anyone with awareness can hear her coming a mile away and open their eyes or prepare to get to a safer area, which is far more indication than a DS that can easily sneak up on you out of nowhere with M&A.

And zero counterplay? Well, maybe if you have zero skill, which is something Huntress does take to play. But, you're right, it's the killers fault, it's the hitboxes fault, it's certainly never your fault, you always outplay her and if you can't well, better make a post saying to nerf her in 10 different ways, right?

Her hit boxes are wonky. BHVR gave an excuse that doesn’t hold to deathslingers more precise hitboxes. Just saying (and server issues we all have, that’s not a hit box issue)

  • He lacks fast map mobility but his negative 😂terror radius does wonders for him

  • It’s pretty buggy. I’ve had games where the survivor gets “stuck.” On their friends screen it shows they escaped, and when EGC is over, my screen and theirs shows they died. Not really surprising considering all the bugs in the game tbh

  • @DwightOP said:

Just a few days ago majority was agreeing that the only needed change to Billy was nerfing his crack Billy addon combo. That his basekit was fine and should remain untouched.

And Now, bhvr is "listening" to us and throw a little bone into the round of us hungry players with them little number tweaks and the majority switched tables and defends them now?

    "be happy you got something"

"be grateful, stop being so entitled"

Excuse me? I should be grateful that I won't get punched my face anymore but instead they spit on me? Because it's "better" it's enough to be happy?

No, this is stupid. And ya all who are defending them like hardcore Simps are just feeding bhvr and easy solution: just give them a little bit and it's fine.

This is stupid. Absolutly stupid. Bhvr THEMSELVES stated Billy was fine. WHY do they go out of their way wasting resources, time and money to make basekit changes and piss off Billy mains when all they had to do was changing 3-4 addons?

This Community is slowly digging their own hole without noticing it.

i hope you had equal disgust and outrage to the DS nerf, Balanced Landing nerf, etc.

If slugging is a "necessary tactic", so is its "counterplay" unbreakable.

A "1 minute you can't touch me window" for ONE survivor out of 4. Just go after one of the other 3 survivors and if you get DS'd in exit gate, just take your loss like a big boy. Other than that I see no reason why the one minute is such a huge deal.

It feels like your killer mains want ez 4k's every single match, it's mind boggling.

I don't see any posts of (solo) survivors in here complaining about how many times they die instead of escaping and therefor asking for killer nerfs.

It’s this mindset that arbitrarily defines “winning” in dbd into escaping or 4k’ing. Getting a 4K by patrolling hooks, tunneling, slugging, forcing struggle, etc is not difficult. You need to be a decent killer so you understand how to chase, when to leave a chase, how to mindgame, etc.

But are you “winning?” When I play a killer who sweats for a 4K, I lose all interest in the game. We’re on two different planets. I’ll still play to help my team, it I could care less about escaping

  • When will people think for themselves? “OMG MISTR STREMR SAID IT SO LETS DO IT. Scott says it is a small pp build.”

quit it, seriously. When I’ve been in games where there’s no obsession, and therefore no DS, people get tunneled into oblivion. It’s not hard to count to 60 or eat DS. Jesus. If it matters (it must on these forums) I’m a rank 1 killer

  • This argument will never be resolved. The heart of the issue is this “I want to win at any cost” mentality, mostly unknowingly to the individual, to stroke their ego (disagree? See postgame chat to see who I’m talking about).

People watch streamers, who teach that the only way to win as killer is to “patrol hooks, slug, force struggle in this situation, tunnel in this situation, eliminate a player as soon as possible, etc”. Then those very same streamers will play survivor and teach “here’s how you mind game a loop, here’s where you can string loops together, don’t use self care that’s half a gen, DO GENS!”

Then mixed in you have this strange paranoia, where everybody is in a SWF, SWF breaks the game, team is good = 100% must be SWF. Lol

I wish people defined “fun” in this game differently then “escape at all costs” or “4K at all costs.” The vast majority you play with/against are just going for a chill time, SWF or not. If I play killer and I Have everyone hooked 2x with 1 gen done...what’s fun about that? Most of that has nothing to do with me (bad part of the map, mind gamed and it worked in my favor when a lot of that is a 50/50 guess, etc). The game is over at that point. There’s nothing left to prove, so let’s screw around and get points (and I’m maxed on everyone, I don’t need them lol).

Or, I get a rough map vs a good team. I could play super sweaty and 4k. Why though? What am I gaining or trying to prove by playing that way? No thanks. I’ll chase everyone, no tunnel, maybe 1 hook everyone. If someone’s hooked at the end, I’ll even make a silly play/get blinded/swing n miss just to increase the excitement of the moment. It’s all good. Who cares lol

Dont take this game seriously. In the end, it means nothing

  • It’s called “baiting,” a bad one too

  • I don’t have a problem with them charging for characters. You don’t have to buy it, you can get perks in the shrine. You might not IMMEDIATELY get what you want, but that’s the nature of f2p.

I would agree that skins are way too much money. Whatever they say to justify the price is silly. Watch - new chapter - 2 new characters - $8. Same character - new skin - $3-$15. How does that make sense? But they’ll continue to be that price if people continue to pay for them

  • Dead hard has been in the game for nearly 4 years. It’s has just barely ever been touched. When I first started playing, balanced was all the rave and EVERYONE made fun of dead hard. New players join the game and all of a sudden it’s a “second chance perk.” Lol

to your point - what this game really needs is fun game modes, in addition to “ranked” play. If you play this game to “win” for some reason (whatever that means) you’re going to bring the “best” perks because “killers kill.” And with that logic, “survivors survive.”

    so until then, whatever lol

I'm fine with most things he said about spirit, but he doesn't seem know how to verse Deathslinger. If he did he wouldn't be saying it's a guess and some of his other complaints just don't make sense about him (like skill doesn't matter against him).

He’s not talking about going against a rank 10 deathslinger, or a red rank who isn’t good with ds. He’s talking about (a) add ons that basically eliminate your terror radius (b) he can instantly lift/drop/lift his gun repeatedly to force you to path where he wants, then it’s a guess as to when he’s going to fire, when to juke, etc. Not anything to disagree about with his statement

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The difference between second chance perks and insta downs is that insta downs usually require a huge condition in order to be performed. Oni is a powerless M1 killer and incredibly weak until he gets his power and he also has to go around collecting it, in which then he gets temporarily empowered for a set duration with the ability to 1 shot.

NOED requires the killer to play with 3 perks for the entire game for an end game power boost. It can still be removed before it even activates.

Devourer of Hope requires the killer to hook survivors and be far away from them and not have the totem be cleansed. It can literally be disabled before it even does anything. Of course DoH has the whole mori aspect but I don't think anyone will complain it's an overpowered perk. It's incredibly high risk for incredibly high reward.

Make Your Choice is kind of like Devourer of Hope, except only on whoever rescued the survivor. They can just hide or play more safe for the 60 seconds, or they're already injured, in which case it does nothing.

The list goes on and on.

Compare that to something like Dead Hard, where you just need to be injured and as a result makes being injured for survivors a hell of a lot safer. There's no other attachments or conditions or requirements attached to it. It just lets you avoid damage when injured. Something like MoM would be a lot closer in comparison to Killer insta downs imo. Not quite in terms of power, but in the condition to activate it. Also of course, insta downs are kind of moot, when survivors just don't heal anyways and just keep Dead Hard because again, it makes them more safe when injured. This perk alone soft counters every and any and all insta-down attacks and perks killers have.

You know dead hard has been in the largely untouched for FOUR YEARS? You know this whole complaining about “second chance” perks has ramped up and up recently? Why?

Killers act like there’s no counter to DS, dead hard, etc. Which is ridiculous

  • Corrupt, Discordance, PGTW, Thrill

thats all you need. Could swap ruin and surveillance for corrupt and pop, but I usually just stick with the above. It’s OP imo, which is why I don’t play Freddy very often

  • He doesn’t need the equivalent of huntresses iri hatchets. I play as and vs a lot of deathslingers.

all killers are “viable.” If you define “viable” as “getting 4ks” I’d suggest having fun with game and watching less twitch :)

  • I had about 100 on my P3 Pyramid head (maxes his perks, that’s how many many I got in the process). I’ve spent 25 for more points while I finish adding his perks to the other killers.

Yes. And it’ll never be fixed. P2P unfortunately was much better than these amazon cloud servers

  • I play on PC/XB/PS4/Switch. The difference between Switch and the other 3 should be clear. It's an awful port, controls are shoddy (you need to tap like an arcade stick for certain loops, it's not smooth at all), poor graphics/lighting. Hell, even spotting a bear trap with no add ons is worthy of earning a medal.

PS4 vs. XB - no issues

    Frames:

PS4/XB vs. PC - I average about 5 frame drops per match on a PS4 Pro. I've had as high as 30 in a game. Which is crazy, because on high end, triple A games I play that are far more graphically intense - I never get frame drops. On PC - I've had one frame drop that lasted for 2 seconds (60 to 50) in the past 4 months.

    KB/M vs. Controller:

    • Much easier to dodge hatchets on kb/m. You can't make (as quickly) jab steps on a controller like you can on kb/m
    • easier to hug walls when you're looping on kb/m

And just personally - I'd rather stick playing just PS4 and maybe Xbox. Playing on PC is like "OK, I'm having a good day. Do I want to ruin that by having some kid tell me to kill myself, or another college aged kid tell me about his amazing body and that it needs to be serviced, or some 20 viewer twitch streamer losing their marbles because one person brought in a brown toolbox...no...I'm just gonna go play animal crossing I think." Where as I seriously get this in postgame chat (never saying a word) in 30-50% of games played, I've received 10 messages in the past month on PS4, most of them just to say gg, friend request with the occasional meathead typing out nonsense." And lastly, there are far less (see username) on console vs. PC. I don't care to carry another streamer only for them to talk some serious $$$$ in their chat throughout the game (it's less about what's being said vs. being used for immature content)

    deuces

  • @Peanits said:

Given that this game doesn't require precise aim, the gap between controller and keyboard/mouse is much smaller than other games. That said, though, if you still don't want to play against people on other platforms, you'll be free to opt out of crossplay if you wish.

It's not the gap between kb/m and controller. It's the gap between a PC monitor/mechanical kb/astromonical dpi mouse vs. Switch with poor graphics, poor lighting, and poor controls. As someone who plays on every platform available (PC/XB/PS4/Switch/Mobile) - I speak from experience. The gap between PS4/XB/PC is smaller, I agree. However, it's much easier to aim as Huntress/Deathslinger and easier to blink as nurse on kb/m than controller. It's also easier to hug walls tightly when looping as survivor on kb/m, which can make all the difference.

And finally - since XB/PS4/Switch all suffer from notable frame drops that remain unaddressed after all this time, that in and of itself should be reason enough. (If not to fix said issues, to at least see how they might interfere with gameplay). I've experienced 1 frame drop on PC in the past 3-4 months or so. One (went from 60 to 50 for about 2 seconds). Where as on PS4 Pro, for example, I usually get about 5 drops per game, on average (highest I had was 30).

Actually it is. In a game that is supposed to be 2 kills, 2 escape, geting a 4k at all is more than a win and should be an anomaly. The issue is that people think they're entitled to 4ks at all

Well, you have streamers that display for a good portion of the player base how you’re supposed to play as killer, what’s a legit way to play, and “how to get that 4K.”

Slugging, Camping, Proxy Camping, Tunneling, eliminating a player at any cost if you’re losing gens, etc.

survivors popularize: how to bully loops, how to bully in a swf, sabo squads, old instaheal squads, key squads, etc.

so, a lot of people are influenced by this. What they see must be the way to play. “Gotta escape....gotta get a 4K...otherwise, I suck, I’m no good, I’m not running loops for 5 gens, I’m not 4K’ing with multiple gens left....”. It’s crazy and contributes to the toxicity of the community.

How many people do you know who used to trash dead hard, but now it’s a “second chance perk” because streamers showed “look, you can gain distance on a loop, not just dodge attacks” (so glad Einstein cracked that code for us....like people weren’t doing that already).

    LOL

3 gen strat works vs solo players....maybe.

even a crap SWF can handle it. Hint: everyone get on a gen. Maybe 1 gets caught.

i mean it's hard enough to play huntress, nurse or any precision killer because of the terrible camera sensitivity options but a killer like deathslinger who requires pinpoint accuracy to get a hit and has a high skill low reward gameplay i would have thought you would make some adjustments but i guess he is just another flavour of the month killer who will be gone and forgotten just like poor demo boi.

It takes a lot of practice to use huntress, nurse, and now, deathslinger on console. It IS easier to play these killers on PC. PC also has a huge advantage of not having massive frame drops (how a PS4 Pro can run something like GoW pristine, but can't run DBD....hint - the game isn't optimized on console, yet they''ve said they were going to work on for 2+ years now). For Huntress, aim a little higher than you'd expect, find the point on your screen that's your "crosshair" - I'd recommend using the oak haft/babushka (theres a yellow add on that works well too) so you can fire off hatchets a little quicker, which helps with practice. good luck

Have you ever played killer? There's maybe 2 - 6 add-ons per killer that range from "meh" to "pretty good" with the rest being garbage. Killers also get a ton of useless offerings with some of them being harmful for the killer and beneficial for the survivors.

Except for Spirit. There's literally not a bad add on for her. Only difference I'll add is survivors earn less bp per match vs. killer, and killers can run BBQ (which, while not the best perk these days, still offers something along with its double bp, vs. WGLF which just gets you points).

My guess would be the change was just a low key way to get more people to play killer, for more bp. We'll see what happens :)

  • This happens when a perk procs, killer gets bloodlust on the map, etc. It's a known issue, I can't remember ever playing it without this issue. Frame drops, poor optimization, issues like this remain on console, but I doubt we'll ever see a fix before the game fades off to the sunset tbh. This happens even on the PS4 Pro. How more graphically intense games will run super smooth (on PS4 or PS4 Pro) yet DBD has these basic issues is a marvel tbh lol

  • Is he using the add on that makes detection range smaller? I've found when they run that add on, that exact scenario happens that you've shown. Just a thought. Otherwise he's pretty typical to break out, except when he's leaning

  • As someone who plays killer, you shouldn't be rewarded for missing attacks. Just like add ons that increase recovery time from bumping into objects, etc. It's like training wheels. We don't need more training wheels in dbd.

This. It would not be difficult for this to be implemented I'd imagine. It's basically what some survivors/swfs do when they start up a kyf lobby (load up a map, practice every multiple flip of it, practice stringing loops, practice what works, what doesn't, etc). Unfortunately, not all of us are teens or in college with nothing to do in our lives except learn a video game so we can drop that sweet "gg ez" on someone....kappa

  • saying "gg" in and of itself is not toxic, in any way shape or form. If you interpret that as toxic, that might be something for you to work on within yourself. Because, it's more likely no matter what is said, you'll take it in some warped way tbh.

Maybe address the issue, or if they disagree, try to defend their stance. Instead of replying with a completely irrelevant, snarky one-liner that completely derails the topic of the OP.

If you’re going to be a dev for a game, act like it.

Quite hesitant in buying this one because why should I buy a weak killer? Love his design and story, but that's it.

  • 99'ing hooks wasn't even really game breaking. This is just throwing a wrench in something for everyone to complain about, to distract from the slew of new bugs that will come with 3.6.0. I got money on borrowed time breaking on like Badham III only. And then NOED is going to proc at the beginning of the game, but breaking all totems won't destroy the hex. To be fair, if we removed ranks, gamer joe would brag that he was rank 1 before ranks were removed. It's the same with hours played, tbh. Like unless you're a lump on a stump, you're going to eventually hit at least purple ranks. It's a pissing contest regardless who says what, when, and where. It's all just a flex on your legitimacy, authority, knowledge. If it's not one thing it's another:

"I have five billion hours played so I know what I'm talking about."

"I've played sixty-thousand matches so I know what I'm talking about."

"I'm rank 1 so I know what I'm talking about."

"I was red rank before ranks were deleted, so I know what I'm talking about."

"I hit red rank on my 20th hour so I'm automatically a pro and know what I'm talking about."

What honestly should happen is that ranks should be invisible. And more spread out. And should be based on both hours played and win/participation ratio.

200 hours played and you've got high wins but low participation? You're probably not that good, let's put you with players who also don't try that much and you can all faff about until something clicks and you actually start doing gens, learning to lure the killer, do some unhooking, etc. low wins but high participation? you're probably just unlucky, let's get you with some players who can carry their own weight. Somehow placed against really good killers/survivors? After a few straight losses in a row the system should evaluate your score and bump you down a peg, maybe you've hit that glass ceiling and you need a bit more practice before we challenge you again. Win a few more games and you'll probably get bumped back up. And after a certain amount of hours played, it would stop counting all the old hours you've played when you lost constantly, and your average would stabilize a lot more, probably even go up steadily if you keep doing well.

But this would all happen in the background, so while I say all this stuff, you'd have no actual knowledge about how the system is figuring out where you fit in the overall system.

You just described what they are planning on doing? Hiding the MMR though will piss a lot of people off and will hurt their "stream community" since they won't have any actual source of external validation. In all honesty, matchmaking is the least of our concerns. If they implement the system, they're not going to pair you with whom you should be paired with. They're going to pair you randomly, and if you get paired with a rank 20 killer and you do horrible....you'll lose a lot of invisible points. And if you do incredible vs the rank 20, you'll gain the smallest bump. They've already stated this is how it's going to be. So, who cares. What they arbitrarily decide to be "good" at the game may, or may not, actually line up with what the playerbase feels.

There are so many issues with this game, and until they take 3-6 months to fix bugs, ways to prevent bullying/stalling/slugging/tbagging/whatever...it's just gonna be the same ol' stuff. Queue times are a problem because of the number of players, that's it. That's why a lot of red ranks get paired with green rank killers, especially on console.

Self care was nerfed because people were being too self centered. It's called selfish care for a reason.

When injured, people group up together anyways. They either work together to finish a gen, or heal, or heal then gen, or gen then heal. If they get a natural debuff to gen speeds they might prioritize healing over gen, which would naturally slow the game down as well as shake up the meta.

Game design is about manipulating player behavior.

Self care used to take 20 seconds, medkit heal/other survivor healing took 10 seconds, and we'll make it took like 5 seconds. Self-care isn't a "selfish" perk (clever?) - it can be used to the benefit of a team (in solo queue), if it's used at the right time. So, if you were going to introduce free thana for killers, then you would have to introduce free self-care for survivors, and it would have to be buffed. Doesn't make sense.

  • Mori isn't an add on, it's an offering. If you have DS and don't want to be mori'ed, get into a locker. The killer will just stare at you for 60 seconds, and then Mori you, but it's quite funny watching them potentially lose 3 gens in the process.

  • I don't like it. Highly encourages chasing the Obsession, getting as many vaults as you can in 30 seconds, getting 1 hit, and then leaving. In a time where gens are prone to fly without map pressure, this definitely wouldn't help that. Not even sure it'd be better

  • Spirit is mostly dependent on a good pair of headphones. Hard to counter that (sometimes). There are mind games that can be played, but to experienced players, doesn't matter. That's all playing/vs spirit is, who can mindgame the other. Balance is in Spirits favor though
