sorry misquoted you because i was looking at one place and clicked the wrong button :) I agree with you :)

    Not a problem! 😅

I just can't stand it when people talk ######### about the devs ( who made this game we all love).

Especially when they have ZERO idea how hard it is to accomplish what has been done with the game so far.

Throughout my playtime of dead by daylight I've been around for a lot of the good bad. Heck, I still remember when DS was a get out of jail free card.

I will be the first to admit, the devs have implemented good changes. Like the end game collapse, the ruin and DS reworks, graphical overhauls, and killer reworks.

Despite all of the good changes, the bad continually manages to shine through.

By now I'm pretty sure we're well aware of how bad BHVR's coding is. They manage to somehow break the game everytime they update it. They change one thing, and somehow some seemingly unrelated thing is now broken beyond belief. The fact that makes this even more annoying is they have refused to take a chapter off to fix their spaghetti code. Resulting in even more bugs every update.

For another thing console optimization was promised over two years ago. Now technically they delivered on this, but only on next gen. Despite the fact that they promised to hit 60fps across all playable consoles. I shouldn't have to drop about $600 dollars just to get optimization that was promised.

Plus I shouldn't even have to bring up how out of wack perk and map balance is. Making this even worse is how a few killers outshine the rest by a wide margin. Despite how long the other killers have been in the game, they have not been brought up to par for some time.

My final point for this tirade is the [BAD WORD] show that they called a Halloween event. First, they take away the event currency that allowed everyone to get free outfits. Despite having it in the game for the past 2 halloween events. Not only that, the event can barely even be called one. The only thing that made it slightly special was the drab looking hooks and generators. By the time the onslaught of negative feedback came through, the only thing they offered us was some iridescent shards, only enough for one event outfit. If no one had complained, we would have never seen any login rewards or even a bloodhunt.

Overall the devs have set a pretty horrible standard for themselves. I used to hope they could get past everything to make a great game. But they have continually shown that they aren't capable.

By the way this isn't some "I'm quitting" post. I'm still going to play the game, mostly because it's the only surviving game of it's niche. I just wish the devs could get over themselves.

Wow, so much ######### talking for someone who probably has NO idea how to code, let alone code in C++.

Feel free to code an asymmetrical horror and acquire all of the character licences by yourself.

    Go ahead. We're all waiting.

You want to criticize to devs coding ability and talk a ton of #########, can you do any better?

    No?

    Didn't think so.

  • NVM. Misread entire thing.

I know these issues are pretty much known to everyone but since starting to play on steam as well as ps4 you get a much better idea of what they're supposed to endure. Apart from a few matches where I've been matched with noobs I'm going against red and purple survivors with 1000s of hours, and full perk sets -which is fine with me, obviously a bit more engaging than killing beginners although ideally I'd have something a bit more to throw back at them apart from tier 1 spies and tier 1 bloodhound-

but how many new players drawn to the killer role are going to stick around if they're just going to be a punching bag match after match? I get that matchmaking is probably always going to be terrible, possibly even with MMR. But give new players something. A more advanced tutorial, a training area (everyone wants one and if you could try out new killers and perks there you'd probably increase sales), a warning or BP boost when their lobby is full of reds, a way to unlock some free perks from the shrine, idk but you should give them something.

I don't feel bad for new killers at all.

My significant other played this game for the first time as killer last week ( first time playing the game, actually ) and has ZERO idea as to what perks are or why they matter.

My significant other got 4K super easy.

In fact, he said it was so easy, it wasn't even very fun.

    Why?

What was good enough to make you spend the money on it. And if you are willing how much have you spent on cosmetics in total?

I'm curious because it seems that BHVR keeps adding more and more cosmetics but I have only bought 1 and have gotten 1 battle pass in the past.

We buy everything because we are BETTER THAN YOU!!!!!

    Muwahahahahaha!

    The rift pass?

Yeah, we buy that #########! We buy it all!

Hell, we even buy the complete rift pass ( all 70lvls) right at the god damned beginning because ######### you, we are better than your worthless ass.

Don't believe me? I will camp and mori your ass. You will wake up to find your chickens dead and your platypus to being very upset with you over your personal life decisions.

I will mori you without my thumbs then L2 click (squat) a Deuce on the exit gate handles as david king.

I am god. I am god. I am god. I am god. I am god.

Now slavic squat dance in my honor and offer up a key for me. I will ######### on a medkit for you.

........just kidding, dear lord it was hard to type that without laughing hysterically.

  • Take a break from killer and play as survivor.

It can be frustrating sometimes, but switching roles for a few matches can really help get back into your groove.

I notice that I have a MUCH easier time after switching back.

During the rework they could make a „twins map“ in the ormond style, there is actual only one version, so why not? Just change the buildings and it’s fine

Well feel free to code a WHOLE new map for ormond, or whatever, that works with ALL of the current game mechanics using only C++ and send it into the devs.

I swear, people don't appreciate ######### these days.

  • Faced tru. He (and his sad attempts at tunneling) were a complete joke ( like, THAT'S what people want to watch!? Skilless tunneling?)

Really wanting to be killed by Monto sometime though.

  • Right? I would be too embarrassed to brag about only 17K BP with a 4K.

  • @Sirris said:

You escaped which is awesome. If you wanna teabag and be an overall sore-winner, I really couldn't care less. Honestly if you're playing SWF and teabagging after gen-rushing and the likes ...well...I'm at least glad you are all having fun. I don't even mind letting you heal at the gates for those extra points.

But flashing flashlights at me (ESPECIALLY more than 1 person doing it at once) can trigger seizures in me. I don't get them too often but it's still a risk.

Heck, just don't do it with me - I'm only ever Mikey or Doctor.

Honestly, after reading this I WILL stop flashlight spamming (I'll still use a flashlight when playing survivor, but won't spam anymore).

We all like to be ######### in this game sometimes, but it's not worth risking someone's actual IRL health.

Thanks for posting this. I hope other people will see this and keep it in mind when using flashlights.

Making adjustments to the way I BM and troll won't be difficult at all. 😜

Oh really, It's not all the camping and tunneling Leatherfaces and sweaty iridescent head Huntresses? My bad. If ONE post tickled your trigger bone to where you had to say "You're making the rest of us killers look bad" maybe you should take a look down memory lane where the "rest of us killers" made yourselves look bad all on your own.

Edit: Also where was the part where I was "Whining" If I recall, I basically asked "Why do you want to make the game to not last more than 5 minutes" Or did that fly over your head?

YOU'RE the one whining on here about stupid ######### most of us killers have already dealt with (something about beating a dead horse comes to mind).

Not my fault you get 'gen rushed' like a scrub.

If anyone here has been triggered, it's you.

Your reaction (like you're attempt at deflecting) is hilarious.

What else are survivors supposed to do?

Is there any objective other than gens?

Do killers have any objective other than to kill survivors?

This is the stupidest post I've seen in a long time.

Quit your whining. You're making the rest of us killers look bad.

  • Well, you're all free to make an asymmetrical horror game yourselves. No one is stopping you.

You all make it sound SO easy to code everything in C++.

If you think you can have an easy time acquiring licences and coding an entire asymmetrical horror game in C++ then be my guest.

BHVR may not be perfect, but they DID create a game we are all playing ( and most of us are enjoying it) so I stand by them.

I got the devour Hope challenge done WITHOUT the most op offering in the game though and the obsession challenge is stupid. Technically it means to play 10 killer matches and hope the obsession doesn’t escape. But that doesn’t mean you need to bring an ebony mori let alone even an ivory mori just for 1 person to die. I played 10 normal killer matches and got that done as well.

Most killer mains are lazy or lack the skill to accomplish it by any other means.

    I prefer the challenge.

KUDOS to you for not relying on trash tactics to accomplish this.

  • The ONLY time I have ever lingered around a hook as The Pig is when I've seen the other three survivors go in for a save at the same time.

I find this happening quite often whenever I play as her. I also find it hilarious when they complain about camping. Especially when literally ALL FOUR survivors spent the majority of the match gathered under/ around a single hook healing and making terrible attempts to juke.

  • @Moxormog said:

    I'm done.

You keep nerfing and destroying killers each patch.

I'm so over doing a barely 1 minute chase in the beginning of the match to have two gens pop off because I don't have corruption or using ruin (When it doesnt get cleansed in the first 30 seconds).

You've literally ruined huntress. Every other game I am having hatchets that are not connecting when it clearly hits the survivor (with a blood splash)?????

The amount of idiotic sound bugs that makes it nearly impossible to track survivors or when gens are being worked on.

almost 2k hours as a killer but I can't handle the amount of abuse and disregard Behavior has towards its killer playerbase.

But, hey, at least you have your 2-3 killer main streams in a sea of ######### survivor streamers on Twitch.

Survivors, you keep wondering why your que times are so long?...

Do you really have to wonder??????

Posts like this are embarrassing to us killers who actually took the time to get good at this game.

Survivor queue times are shorter than ever and playing as killer has never been easier.

Quit blaming the game. It won't compensate for the skill you clearly lack.

Especially since the devs have been showing immense amounts of love and favour towards us killers lately.

So if you're truly 'done with this game' then I'm glad. Please go.

Maybe we won't have to see you post stupid ######### like this again.

Survivors: "Yes, and also add more pallets and easier loops. And ban Killers who camp and tunnel, cuz that also isn't fair to us. Cuz if we don't get to gen rush, then loop, then teabag, then escape...then this is Not Fair!"

    The short version

He kicks ass and is tremendously fun to play.

    The long version

The Blight easily has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game. I'd argue that Nurse is a bit higher, but not by much. His power requires acute memory of all tilesets in the game, familiarity with your mouse DPI, and good reflexes.

This makes learning him quite a task. But my god if it isn't fun once you do. Here's a quick summary of what the Blight has going for, and against him.

    Strengths

    • Map Pressure

The most obvious of his strengths, the Blight moves at 230% movement speed while rushing. That's the same speed as Hillbilly's sprint. But unlike Hillbilly, Blight is not limited to going in a curved line. By "pin-balling" against obstacles you can cover a distance of up to 138 meters if you perfectly time and distance your rushes! This gives Blight the best mobility in the game par none.

Combine this with the relatively quick recharge of his power, and a decent amount of practise, the Blight becomes unwaveringly oppressive. Especially if combined with perks like BBQ, Surveillance, and any other perk that benefits from arriving at a location within seconds. If he's not chasing someone already he's going to start very soon.

    • Chase Potential

Although still susceptible to very tight loops, the Blight can shut down quite a lot of otherwise safe positions for survivors. Some of you might question how he can do this since you might think that his lunge is predictable and can't be easily controlled. Allow me to explain how this is not the case.

The Blight's lethal rush propels you in the direction you are looking. But while rushing you cannot look more than around 60% to the left or right. However, attacking out of a rush will push you in the direction you are attacking. Also remember that the lethal rush cannot hit walls and is exempt from the dreaded "aim dressing", allowing you to curve around obstacles and get hits.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to learn this skill. Especially since Blight has a very generous attack hitbox which can hit survivors who aren't even on your screen! Trust me, that thing puts Huntress's thrown mini-fridges to shame.

    • Strong add-ons

With the exception of his farming add-on, and the ones that increase slam duration, every single add-on the Blight has is good. I'm honestly hard pressed to say there's a best combination. He's got insta-downs, wallhacks, better steering, breaking pallets and walls with his face, and training wheels for when you're learning him. You really can't go wrong with any of these.

My personal favourite is a tie between the insta-down + reduced rush tokens, and stacked animal add-ons. Using both the blighted rat and the crow you can go up to a staggering 270% movement speed on your final rush! Survivors barely have a chance to register your terror radius before you're right on top of them.

    Weaknesses

    • M1 Perk Anti-synergy

This is my biggest problem with the Blight, not that I have many. His lethal rush does not count as a basic attack. Meaning that 2/3 of his perks don't work with his power, including every single other M1 perk in the game.

I'm not a fan of this design pattern at all. It just reinforces the incredibly stale meta of PTGW and BQQ since many killer perks have heavily discouraged use on most killers, (but not the most powerful killers in the game for some reason). Demogorgon, Pig and Legion all have the same problem and I wish the devs would stop giving new killers the same problem.

    • Indoor Maps

This point is very self-explanatory. But it's not as bad as people think. Lery's and The Game reduce the Blight's overall map presence since he has so many walls in-between gens. However, I've found that these maps offer much more use of his power at most loops. Especially running his ultra-rare add-on that allows him to quickly break pallets by rushing into them.

These maps do take some getting used to. But with enough experience on them a good Blight can still be just as effective.

    • His P3 looks bad

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V1SZQ5D9816L/p3-blight.jpg

    It needs waaaaay more blood.

    Summary

I'm really baffled by the community response to Blight so far. Many people claim that his power is useless at chases, calling him clunky, and some even have the sheer audacity to compare him to Legion in terms of power.

He has so many things going for him. Constant map pressure, good chase potential and good add-ons. But so many people just write him off because they haven't taken the time to learn him.

I've had at least 40+ games with him since his release, and although I typically don't like using antidotes, I've 4K'ed in 90% of those games. I know for a fact how strong he is and I hope this post has convinced you of the same.

I agree! It's so refreshing to see this post, as Blight is waaayyy underappreciated.

Most killer mains would, unfortunately, prefer to complain instead of improving their skills.

  • @BillyMain77 said:

Man when i first started playing this game i loved the no mics and it just being you hiding from a killer and trying to do gens with other survivors, but as an experienced dbd player now i find that solo queue games are extremely unfun to play about 90% of the time and heres why.

When you load into a solo queue game you have to have good game sense and map knowledge in order for everybody to escape but the majority of the time you get potatoes!

Almost every match will have some of these if not all of them

    * Urban evasion & self care on at least 1 if not 2 survivors

    * No one will come to save you and you hit struggle state for no reason even with kindred

    * Despite you looping the killer for 5 minutes straight somehow no gens have popped

    * You will save multiple team mates only to be left behind when you get hooked

    * Team mates will have no game sense and will bring the killer to you every time your gen is almost finished

    * Team mates will think there gods and loop the killer at your hook untill you hit struggle instead of leading him away.

    * Team mates wont know how to pull off a save in front of a camping killer

    * Someone will bring the killer to your hook and unhook right in front of them without BT

    * You will get tunneled by the killer and no one is willing to help or take a hit

    * Team mates will self care all game instead of doing gens against a killer with sloppy thana ect

    * Randos will waste every pallet in first minute of the game because they cant loop

    * Last but not least and i think everybody's biggest issue... STOP KILLING YOURSELF FIRST HOOK OR DC SOON AS YOU GET DOWNED YOU SORRY SCRUB NUGGETS!!!!

Nothing is more frustrating than being 50% done with the first gen and someone goes down and just DCS or goes for the kobe and fails then just dies even if someones coming to save.

I understand vs certain killers sure like iri head huntress ect but i mean people are doing it vs the easiest killers like legion and ghostface ect i mean cmon once the game is a 3v1 its pretty much GG unless all 3 of the remaining survivors are very experienced.

These are just a few of the reasons why imo solo queue games are becoming less and less fun.

With basic comms in the game i could at least coach my newer team mates on what to do in certain situations like a face camping killer ect

Would be nice if they would just add comms and balance killers accordingly but i know thats not going to happen.

Just here to rant as i just played a match vs a legion on haddonfield and he had undying ruin combo one of the totems was at the very end of the street behind like the tiny concrete blocks, rando was doing the totem was like 80% of the way done when legion was coming down the street, i move over to the other side of the rando to take a hit and he just took off.

Cant stand playing with people with no game sense, what other reason would another injured survivor be standing next to you while your doing a lit totem and move to the side the killer was coming from and stand in front of you for?!

To take a hit duh now im taking a hook state and we didn't even get the totem.

Alright end of my rant lol

I feel your pain. Most solo queue survivors are complete dipshits.

    Without comms, it's borderline unbearable.

12 yo. Entitled Killer mains would disagree.

  • @Koukdw said:

Because killer are always complaining, killer whining about loop ? dev nerf most loop and promote alternative playstyle. Killer don't like stealth -> nerf stealth.

I swear the killer playerbase are just a bunch of 12 yo.

The game already favours the killer, these other low skill chump killers just want things easier instead of just improving their skills.

Oh yes, they most likely ARE a bunch of 12 yo.

They implemented mmr it didnt work well due to not having gathered much data, so they disabled it again, its probably coming back but for now it's back to rank based.

My goodness! Well that explains a lot. Hopefully it's fixed soon!

  • @SweetTerror said:

This past weekend I played some solo survivor matches and some SWF matches. Interestingly enough, the ranks were all over the board in both the SWF matches and my own solo matches, yet I kept being paired with high ranking killers.

Now I don't play killer much anymore because my low ranking killer (13) keeps getting paired with higher ranking survivors, and playing survivor is a far less frustrating experience. After a full day of working and parenting I don't have a lot of time to play games, and as much as I want to keep playing DBD, I'm constantly met with disappointment and frustration as I no longer have faith that the matchmaking system will ever be fixed. After what I experienced this weekend, I may have to finally throw in the towel.

This is just a small sampling of games that I experienced over the course of 6 hours where the matchmaking was completely imbalanced.

Rank isn't used in matchmaking anymore. The current system isn't anything to brag about either, but rank isn't relevant with matchmaking anymore.

Perhaps take a break? I find that the game loses its enjoyability when I play it too much.

I wish there were way more asymmetrical horror games out there, but some time away has brought back that 'magic' of playing this game after a while.

  • Killer mains who rely on the crutch that is tunneling simply lack the skill to do otherwise.

I stopped tunneling quite some time ago. Forcing myself to improve skill and adopt better strategies has made posts like this just embarrassing to see.

More victories (3K or more on most matches) and way more BP (50K+ BP per match on average) have made the switch way worth it.

I don't ALWAYS get 4K, but more BP is worth it.

Honestly, if you feel you ABSOLUTELY NEED 4K to the point where you MUST tunnel and forgo more BP then you are probably just compensating for something IRL.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

All killers that aren't nurse or spirit can't easily control the map, because of how fast the gen rush is and how weak their killer chase ability is. You need something to make pressure on the map, and all other killers that aren't spirit or nurse simply get rushed, survivors can just hold W and go across the map and you lose everything, you need to do something

Yeah, that something is called strategy. Play a ton of survivor. Get in their heads. Make them miserable without conceding control of the match.

I want to win, don't want bloodpoints. Fun is relative, btw survivors have a lot of chances to bait me into nothing. It requires skill, you still have to chase a lot and btw it's still a win against 4 sweats, so.

Could care less about your opinion. I'm making more BP.

What you are doing does not require skill.

Maybe it does for you, but for many other killers who know how to take control of the match and draw it out enough to earn substantially more BP, it's not (We also have no problem getting 4K most of the time either).

This attitude and approach is unproductive. While I don't have any desire to make people Rage Quit, I do see a win as the Survivors not getting out. I will do whatever it takes to kill as many of them as possible. I play one game at a time. I will tunnel, camp, and Mori if those options are tactically productive for that specific game. Just like the Survivors, we play to win. Blood Points are not what I'm thinking about in a game. Survivors have lots of means to counter the tactics the OP is suggesting. Trying to be salty or shame someone into not using something that they find effective, isn't going to work.

What a boring ass play style.

Literally requires no skill and furthers the stigma of us killers being entitled and whining babies.

Such a playstyle will never allow him to get any better at the game. Instead, he will continue to play for a cheap 4K and very little BP. He either NEEDS to feel mighty by getting a cheap 4K or simply takes himself too seriously to ever adopt a new playstyle which could reward more BP.

Hell, he'll probably even just make excuses about 'being abused by survivors'/ other BS excuses.

Anything to defend not being able to take a skilled approach.

If you’re going by what the devs “said” then that means the rank 20 Oni I versed last night with 2 perks who didn’t know how to kick a generator, dash and barely got swinging down is on the same level as someone with 3-4K hours is ludicrous. And that match was 50+ games in

Or is the rank 13 Pig I faced yesterday, who thought they could mind game the shack with a pallet down, and literally thought they could “mind game” by stepping in and out of the window was going to work....they’re on the same level right?

If the devs don’t feel ranks matter, they should be removed. If there’s a new ranking system, then there should be tiers (think rainbow six) and everyone should know where they are, if they progressed or not, what the basic parameters for that are, etc.

saying a new system is working behind the scenes with no transparency is a joke.

also: the game has been on PS4/Xbox for over 3 years

Here, some reading for you. Kind of hard to miss.

We've selected a few questions from the community about the new matchmaking system and had them answered by the team.

    • I know you’re looking at skill across different killers but are you looking at skill across different survivors too? even though survivors are just skins, we still have to grind for open perk slots which, for a less experienced survivor like myself, that’s a big deal

Generally speaking, the performance difference between a low level survivor (as in, the character level is low) and a high level survivor for a given player isn’t statistically extreme. It also changes very quickly, relatively speaking: It doesn’t take that many games for a low level survivor to get to a reasonable level. To complicate it further, it can even happen over “0” games, if you got the BP from some other means! All that said, we’re going to keep an eye on this and see if it plays out differently in reality, and potentially modify the system to take this into account.

    • Can we get a little insight into how SWF matchups will be balanced in the new system?

Currently, SWF groups will calculate an average rating of the players in the group, and then the matchmaking system will attempt to find an opponent based off that average. We will be monitoring this and the results it gives in the real world, and may tweak the formula to produce better results if we identify any problems.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/07DXKY7XE8V0/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • How is it gonna be fair to those that are new as a survivor? I feel bad for them

We’re specifically monitoring the experience of new players to ensure the system doesn’t immediately throw them games where they are hopelessly outmatched, and we have a few techniques that we’re implementing already to help with this. Lots of technical / mathematic details, but the basic effect will be that new players tend to get matched at a lower skill rating while they’re still new.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TGFAZUA81XL9/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • So after reading this post why aren't the current ranks not weighted in the starting skill rating for the player base?

We’ve already been running the skill rating calculation in the background for several months, in order to collect data and to validate some elements of our approach. Anyone who has been playing regularly in that time will already have a loosely calibrated skill rating to start with, which will be refined with each game they play now that the system is live.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FNM6B04UNAD6/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • Is it taken into consideration if players have returned from the game after a long hiatus. Some examples are some people returning after a year or even two.

Without getting into extreme mathimatical details: Yes, the system does take how long it has been since you last played into account with the rating system.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OQ1TAUEV9UFQ/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • Why are ranks so mismatched now?

The Matchmaking News post we made went into detail about this, but to summarize: Ranks are mostly a measure of how much you play in a given month, and doesn’t have a very good correlation with game skill. Skill rating is completely driven by how skilled you are at the game, so there will be some divergence between the two. The rank system will be getting updated Soon(tm) to reflect this difference.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/20LI55NFCJ4C/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • Why are we keeping the skill rating hidden?

For every player who gets really excited at the prospect of seeing their skill rating, there is another player who dreads it. For now, to encourage everyone to play the game the best they can, we are keeping the skill rating hidden. We have plans to expose it somewhat in the future, but nothing to announce at this time.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/01VR4OI1EPR4/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • What will it mean to Ranks in the Tally Screen?

Right now, the Emblem system / Rank system is being left as-is. We wanted to get the skill rating system out and in player’s hands as quickly as possible. The rank system will be getting updated Soon(tm).

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/A1KXBT9T9HR6/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • Is the rating started counting now, or already set from past performance?

Ratings are initially based on your performance over the last few months, while the system has been collecting data in the background.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5HFZKHX7LQ75/patchnotesdividersmolwhite.png

    • What are the factors that affect the ratings?

Ratings change based on how you perform in a match while taking your opponents rating into account. If you outplay an opponent who has a much higher rating than yours, then your rating will be adjusted quite a bit. If you outplay an opponent who had a lower rating than yours, then the adjustment is quite small.

    Other

    • Does this mean that those with different NAT types that weren't able to play together before (unless they had a connection with the lobby leader) can now play together?

The skill rating has not direct relation to NAT and network connectivity, as it is used to determine who matches together. As long as your NAT type allows you to connect to the dedicated server, you should be fine to play with anyone else (who can also connect to the dedicated server, of course). Since we are now using servers instead of P2P, NAT incompatibilities are less of an issue.

I don't care about your opinions or whining.

    These are just facts.

Don't like it? I don't care. You're free to quit the game anytime if you don't agree with the decision the devs make.

Or better yet? Try coding your own asymetrical horror game.

    No one is stopping you.

Okay but the game literally just released on Console, everyone else probably ALSO didn't know how to play. If you had started now, after it had been out on console for a few years now, do you think you'd still get to Rank 1 in a week? Also approximately how many hours total do you think you played during that week?

If you're playing Solo Q? Yes I WOULD argue Rank takes skill. Or at least more skill than someone completely new to the game has.

Do you honestly HONESTLY think, the new MMR system, once all the kinks are worked out? Will fare better than what we had? That they accounted for enough variables to give an honest view of skill? I don't, because there are too many variables to properly account for. Bloodlust, Perks, RNG pallet spawns, RNG window Spawns, fat shaming spots, Survivor Spawns, Killer Spawns, can they loop, can't they loop? Hitboxes, lag, dedicated servers. Add-ons, items, offerings. Moris, keys. Map size. Map layout. RNG Gen spawns. RNG hook spawns. So much.

The game has been on console for at least two years, it didn't "literally just release".

The value you hold on rank doesn't matter anymore. Again, it is not used in matchmaking anymore.

It's basically only a pat on the back for yourself.

    Don't believe me? I don't care.

You're free to message peanitz or get in contact with the devs yourself.

Hell, read the latest DBD news. It's been coming for a while.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/179192/community-questions-skill-rating-matchmaking#latest

You can argue it's viability all you want, but it means nothing if it isn't being implemented into matchmaking.

Yeah Rank may not properly equate for skill, but a person who has reached Rank 1 has at least played the game long enough to probably have more than the basic mechanics of the game down, know at least how looping WORKS even if they can't properly loop themselves, know how perks and items work, HAVE perks and items to use, etc. Meanwhile these people who have only like 11 hrs of playtime being matched against people who potentially have tens to hundreds times that. That's not fair, that's not fun, and it'll probably actively discourage people from either continuing to play or keeping the game (if they can still refund it that is).

It's the same for people who only have recently bought the game and are trying to play killer too. Playing against Seal Squad 6 (whether SWF or Solos) as a new killer, that'll demotivate and demoralize you like nothing else.

That's just it. I have carried people via SWF to red ranks, and even made it to red ranks within my first week of playing (I started when the game released on console). My knowledge of the game was VERY limited compared to what it is now and I had little to no perks (not that I understood a lot of them).

Again, the devs have said that rank does not equate skill. Hence why it is no longer used for matchmaking.

They announced this all recently, I don't understand how so many people are struggling to grasp this concept.

Rank is, literally, just for giving yourself kudos.

Are you saying Tru is derpy and that rank 19 that only unlcoked 2 perk slots is on his level? LOL, OKAY Thanks for the laugh! 😂

Not talking about Tru, though he IS overrated ( and a bit of a cry baby at times).

I'm saying that there are red rank survivors/ killers that still 'suck' despite being at red ranks. I have known plenty of people who have made it to red ranks, yet still struggle greatly with holding chases, landing skill checks, and overall performance in matches.

Basically, if you play enough, you will make it to red ranks. Devs have stated as much already.

You're free to take it out of context all you want.

    Doesn't change the facts.

Don't believe me? I could care less.

The devs have said what the devs have said. Hence why rank doesn't mean anything anymore.

  • Rank does not equate skill. The devs have said so themselves. It only reflects frequency of play when it comes down to it, which is why some red ranks still seem derpy.

I remember, way back in the day, I once complained to a killer that literally face-camped me that it was poor game-play from him. His response was one that stuck with me: "punish it by doing gens".

I try to be a "fair" killer. I'm decent (Rank 1) with Spirit & Pyramid Head, but less so with other killers. And I like variety. I like to play Nurse, Doctor, Hag, etc, etc. Of course, the way the current match-making is set up is that (currently) I have to go against red ranks regardless of what killer I play, which means when I play any of the other killers, I'm at a severe disadvantage.

When you mix that with SWF depip squads with object and stretched rez, etc, who insist on gloating and hurling abuse at you in the end-game chat, it makes me wonder "why do I bother? I don't play the game to be made to feel bad."

I know many have gone through this, and often quit the game entirely. But my attitude switched.

No longer will I now be "fair", and give survivors a chance under the assumption that they'll be decent, etc. Now I'm gonna unleash the full power of any/every killer I play.

Yes, I'm gonna camp the hook. There's 3 other healthy survivors around, leave the gen and try to rescue if you can. The odds are in your favour. Severely in your favour. But it means you're not doing objectives, and I'm finding that more often than not, these SWF can't cope with this. They cannot reconcile having to choose between letting their team-mate die on hook for the sake of the gens, and not being given a free save. They get confused, and they make mistakes, which I capitalise on.

Sure, I still get the accusations of camping and tunnelling... but this time they're warranted (instead of being arbitrary excuses), and I don't care. They all died, I "win".

And when they call me a "noob", I point out that this "noob" just 4K'd them all... so what does that make them? Lol.

If you don't like the camping, punish it by doing gens.

And don't forget the totems too... I could be running NOED.

Gone are the days of Mr Nice/Fair Killer. SWF have had their run for too long, and I'm tired of being the punching bag. I'm fighting back, and I urge other killers to do the same.

SWF need to learn they don't control the rules of the game, they're not the power position, the killers are! We've been shamed into playing by their rules... since when do the lamb dictate to the lions how to hunt?

My strategy is to put pressure on you, SWF groups... let's see how you cope with that with all your t-bagging, clicking, etc. Doesn't look like it's working too well for you so far :D

You're free to use scummy tactics. It's not bannable. Just enjoy less BP.

Nah, no thanks. I am working on 4k hours in this game and I have never needed to play that way. Tunnelling survivors takes no skill and is boring for both sides. I enjoy beating 4 people at once. Crippling my opponent before the match really starts feels petty and cheap. If you have to win that way then you are just bad at killer since you need a crutch every match.

⬆️ This right here! 100% true!

I said that. And you also placed an IF in your sentence, like me. Tunneling itself does not reduce bloodpoints. If you decide to do nothing until you can tunnel again, then you lose bloodpoints. But that is normally more the part of the camping that makes you lose BP.

And tunneling to 50k BP is no problem when you don't waste time staring at the hook. As I said, as long as the tunnel target is on hook, you are free to do stuff. And chasing the target or someone else gives you the same BP. Hooking and hitting as well. I guess you just have a different definition of tunneling.

You would be the only person I've ever heard of successfully pulling off a 50K+ BP tunnel run.

I still doubt this, seeing how survivors typically don't spend too much time on the hook. Especially since less survivors = less people to earn BP from.

Still, I suppose just about anything IS possible with enough effort/ build and the right circumstances.

If you actually manage to pull that off, then more power to you I suppose. Either way I have never found tunneling to be a very entertaining or efficient method of acquiring BP.

Any time I have tried tunneling, I have usually managed to get about 20-30K and didn't really get any enjoyment out of it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1466465#Comment_1466465

Already mentioned by several people, but want to agree on "depends on the definition of tunneling".

Tunneling does not give you less BP. It also does not give you an auto lose. If you wait for unhooks, don't pressure gens in the meantime and stuff like that, THEN you lose BP and eventually the game. But that is more the camping part, not the tunneling part. You can still chase other survivors while your "target" is on the hook or kick gens. As soon as you have the possibility to go for your hooked target without throwing or ignoring other things, it is efficient tunneling. It doesn't matter if you chase survivor A or B, both grant you the same points, both grant you another hook after the chase. If survivor A is closer to death hook, it is just better for the killer to go for him.

Ignoring the 90% gen right next to you while chasing your tunnel target or refusing to spread damage among the team to get the tunnel down and get struck by DS is the inefficient part of tunneling you can discuss about, but that is not automatically the case when people talk about tunneling. As many survivors basically just throw the word in any scenario they had no fun with.

    Possibe solution

Do not have each survivor count 3 hooks individually, but count hooks overall, to feed the entity. Maybe give a 2% action speed debuff per hook as some kind of stalling progression and reward for hooking. And then just the sum of hooks starts killing people. Whoever gets the 9th hook dies. So does the 10th, 11th and 12th. Maybe, as almost no game really has 12 hooks, start with first kill on 8th hook.

And then rework moris, to either be able to reduce the amount of hooks needed for kills by 1,2,3 or you can only kill survivors that got hooked twice. Still allows you to kill survivors faster than without the mori, but you still have to end a bunch of chases before you can do so.

Another incite might be to give the killer another bonus once every survivor got hooked at least once. Like 5% regression on kicking gens. Because the pain got the whole team, entity is thrilled and the killer can feel the entity getting satisfied.

    Something like this.

Tunneling DOES reduce the amount of BP you can potentially earn from a survivor if you tunnel them out of the game ASAP.

Try to tunnel your way to 50k+ BP in a single match. You probably won't manage to.

  • It really depends on how one defines 'winning'.

Some feel that 4K is winning, others feel that earning more BP is more viable.

I prefer the latter. The more BP, the better in my opinion.

Tunneling can end the game faster, but nets you less BP on average.

Tunneling, camping, etc. Is pretty much useless if you want more BP.

Slugging helps though (survivors can complain all they want, but being slugged is STILL better than getting hooked in most cases). It can extend that length of the match and create more opportunities to get BP.

I usually average 50K+ per match as killer. Even if a survivor escapes.

  • It would be cool if downing a survivor did get a little more BP. More BP is always good. 😅

  • "No! DS is ruining my tunnel! I'm entitled to 4k!

    WWAAAAAAA! WWAAAAAAA! WWAAAAAAA!"

    LEARN TO USE SOME TACTIC.

Complaints like this looks terrible in the eyes of other skilled killers and just makes all killer mains look like trash.

  • No, but it does create more opportunities to earn BP. Usually one or more survivors will go out of their way to go and heal the downed survivor. In that time, I have usually popped a few gens or injured another survivor.

Going for 4K ASAP has always bagged me less BP (20Kish on average, 30Kish on a better ASAP match) By drawing the match out and making the survivors' lives hell I have managed to get an average of 50K+ BP. I have a hell of a lot more fun this way too.

Why rush to get less BP when killer que times are so awful at the moment?

  • Sheesh, so many killer mains think pips should be based on getting 4k ASAP.

    Remember the lore.

The entity feeds off of survivors' suffering, hence the reason for getting more bloodpoints when you make the survivors suffer and draw out the length of the match vs killing them all to get 4K ASAP.

The entity also feeds on the growing agitation/ frustration of the killer.

No one is entitled to 4K or escaping, because both sides are being manipulated by the entity for it's own purposes.
