Chaos Shuffle is sort of a miserable experience, isn’t it?

This is my first time experiencing the Chaos Shuffle modifier, and I expected it to be a fun kind of chaos. Not knowing which perks you'd get seemed like it could lead to some interesting combinations, and wondering whether they'd synergise well, like Inner Strength and Small Game, or completely work against each other, like No Mither and Self-Care.

Instead, it's been a pretty miserable experience.

I don't know if I just had an unusually bad run of matches before I went to make something to eat, but almost every game was filled with proxy camping and hard tunnelling. I assume that's because it's much less likely that survivors will randomly get an anti-tunnel perk.

Unless it's changed since I last played, there also wasn't a Bloodpoint bonus for playing survivor. So what's the incentive to play this modifier? Am I missing something, or is it genuinely just not a very good game mode?

Generally the BP modifiers are based off which role is short on players, so if your not seeing one... could just mean the queues are about even atm.

So is that why 2V8 normally has between 3-5x more bloodpoints for survivor players because more people are queuing up to play killer? I assumed it was just a general modifier bonus to make it more enticing to play.

Well that’s disappointing as there’s virtually zero reason to play in the Chaos Shuffle lobbies.

  • It's an okay game mode. Is it good? No not even close. But it's something different and if you enjoy chaos then it is fun but you have to go in with the midset of making the best of what you got rather than screaming that you didin't get four meta perks.

  • I'm not a fan. On survivor it always feels like I get God awful perks. Last time it kept giving me Red Herring over and over. I would do killer but the addition of add-ons has turned me off. There are too many weird and meme ones that change the whole character. I'd rather just have a perkless mode.

Yeah, the more of an imbalance there is in queues the more of a BP incentive they offer. This is with normal mode too. At times where there's a wait of 4-5 minutes for killer, youll probably see a BP incentive for survivor. I normally play at night though when wait times is under 1 minute, so there's no BP incentive then.

    This is from last night.

  • Killer players just dont udnerstand thats this is a fun mode and are trying dead seriously to compensate for whatever lack of skill they have.

I’m not bothered about having four meta perks, but I’ve noticed that tunnelling and proxy camping is even more prevalent in this game mode and with there being no incentives to play, it just seems like a huge waste of time.

I hope Lights Out is better as I haven’t gotten to play that before either.

  • Chaos Shuffle has always been my favourite of all the modifiers but I get why some players might not like it. I like the slot machine aspect and the endless variations of the mode, I guess.

I don't think tunnelling is more common in Chaos Shuffle tbh, rather it's more common than it used to be overall. I think there's possibly also a little bit of a feeling of unfairness from the Killer side because Survivors still get to choose their items whereas Killers have to play with a fully randomised load out.

I used to run add-ons on my Legion that could combat the bully squads and guarantee a little bit of slowdown (Stolen Sketch Book and Fuming Mix-Tape). It would probably be pretty annoying to go up against a beamer / sabo / gen rush squad. I don't get to do that any more. That said, not all Killers have such luxuries with their add-ons, so it's the same old same old for them anyway.

A large part of that is due to the killer's random setup. Just like survivors got use to THEIR loadouts, your seeing killers without their usual tracking perks to find other ppl and slowdown perks to keep gens from popping. Instead of wandering aimlessly hoping to stumble across the next chase, they go to where they KNOW there's at least 2 ppl.

Killers tunnel and camp cuz chaos shuffle is miserable for them as well, having no slowdown and a chance of getting a meme add-on which nerfs the killer power is not very fun

Survivors don't understand this is a fun mode either, t-bagging every match when you lost even when you were playing nicely, also there's nothing wrong with killing as killer (tunneling, tell me why killer can't kill) and survivors surviving (gen rushing), like trying to win using any means necessary shouldn't be forbidden.

  • I enjoy it regardless of the outcome as long as everyone plays in a somewhat sporting manner.

In my experience it's been a mixed bag of killer and teammate behaviour

Yeah problem is a lot of killers who can't run their usual build fall back on the maidenless tactics to secure a win.

The mode is not much better for killer. My first game was water logged shoe hag and no chase perks and no slow down perk making it so I was just a bad m1 killer with only one addon that takes away my power.

This really isn't the gotcha you're hoping for. There's no concrete rulebook on how to play, and if killer is dealt perks that don't work with their killer/nerf their power unintentionally, what do you expect them to do?

The main reason is that hooking different survivors gives you nothing and therefore, why should you go for different survivors when tunnelling gives you the best reward - it's also the killer's main job to kill survivors in anway while survivors main goal is to do gens and they wouldn't stop doing that if the killer would spread hooks. This is also an issue in the normal mode where hooking different survivors gives you basekit-wise nothing and even perk-wise, the reward is underwhelming compared to what survivors get. So, it's not because survivors might lack anti-tunnel stuff but rather that there is nothing encourage a healthy spreading hook gameplay.

Now some killers are sometimes unplayable due to addons being all there even the garbage or meme ones so chansaw killers both (bubba, billy) can get addons that make chansaw take one health state which totaly takes thie power away etc. many killers ahve garbage addons like that.

Weaker killers lack their meta perks to help them so gens fly and then theres only few ways how to gain preasure back either by slugging or tunneling or both so no wonder killers do it in this mode where many killers got garbage addons.

Like ghoul here is nice, strong killer who can play any perk, has solid addons or no garbage that makes your power worse then it is in basekit or dracula very simular case.

Not many options are there like legion or kinda wraith are playable, dreadge, doc maybe, freddy has that old trap snare addon thats garbage so not good choice but can be played.

When I play somethign weaker I always get the worst perks and addons possible and theres minimaly duo swf which kills characters like ghostface.

  • I've not seen too much camping or tunnelling, I have however seen just how incompetent a lot of my solo teammates are when they don't have the meta to rely on

Its not that I only care about winning its that i dont want my knees blown out before the match starts. Just disable the perks that completely change how the killer has to play and build and it would be more enjoyable and not a "cool i lost because of an addon" same for no mither it shouldnt be in rotation

  • I like chaos shuffle overall. The thing that annoys me though is they haven't put in any sort of system that prevents you from getting useless perks. I went into a match earlier and got assigned scavenger while carrying a medkit. Why would you allow someone carrying a medkit to be assigned a perk that only works with toolboxes. Yes, I know I could potentially get a toolbox from a chest, but it's still ridiculous. I had another match where I got no mither and I think one of my other perks was light footed. Whatever it was I know it never once activated. So I am fairly sure I had one perk that only works when healthy while having another perk that prevents me from being healthy the whole match. I don't know if that's sheer laziness on BHVR's part or they just don't care.

  • I genuinely have zero desire to play this variation of chaos shuffle simply because they've enabled all killer add-ons, which is fun however I'm not fond of loading into a match to only find out I've lost because I got padded jaws.

  • I like Chaos Shuffle because it means the killer needs a bit more skill to work with perks that are not the strongest, and it's refreshing to get perks as survivor that I don't use much but are actually quite good. Yes, killers can camp and tunnel but that says more about their sportsmanship in a game mode that is clearly meant to be more for fun. After tunneling one survivor, that survivor is dead so killed. Tunneling is killing and survivors got lots of tools against it.

There are plenty ways to kill like camping, slugging and tunneling which is the most effective one.

  • I wasn't expecting so many responses, but it's been interesting seeing everyone's different viewpoints. I'm going to give this mode another chance because I don't think I was fully invested yesterday. I was pretty tired, so maybe my mood made the constant streak of bad matches feel even worse.

For anyone wondering, I don't normally run anti-tunnelling or anti-slugging perks in my survivor builds because I prefer using other perks. I do, however, bring Babysitter and We'll Make It so I can at least try to stop my teammates from being tunnelled. The issue wasn't even that I was being targeted, it was my teammates. At times it just felt helpless because if everyone took hits to protect the person being tunnelled, then nobody was repairing generators. On the other hand, if nobody took protection hits, our teammate would be eliminated so quickly that it felt like the match was over before it had really begun.

I know tunnelling can happen in both game modes, but it definitely felt more common in my Chaos Shuffle matches. That makes sense, considering it's much less likely that survivors will have perks like Decisive Strike or Unbreakable. Tunnelling and slugging are incredibly strong in this mode, and I went into it expecting a much more relaxed experience. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case.

I'll see if the matches feel any different today, and if not, I'll probably just stick to the regular queues.

There's no point camping and hard tunnelling at five generators just because you're unhappy with your perks and add-ons. If you're not enjoying the mode, you'd probably have a better experience in the standard queue.

I'm going to give Chaos Shuffle another chance today, but if it's as miserable as it was yesterday, I won't be queuing for those lobbies either.

  • Wasn't that fun in my experience too. I remembered it more fondly.

On another note, the "Knockout Remox" tomb challenges are currently bugged and can only be completed in chaos shuffle, so get em while it's here!

I did enjoy getting to use perks I'd never tried before and actually getting some value out of them. I've only been playing for about a year, so there are still plenty of perks I've never touched. I just couldn't help noticing that I seemed to be having really bad luck with my matches. It felt like almost every game had someone being proxy camped and tunnelled out at five generators, or the killer refusing to hook and instead trying to four-man slug.

Maybe I was being naive, but since I'd never played this game mode before, I went into it expecting it to be fun, chaotic, and enjoyable for both sides. I thought it would be one of those modes where everyone was just there to have a good time. I definitely learned the hard way that wasn't always the case! 😂

Like I said in another post, I'm going to give it another shot today. I was feeling tired and groggy when I played yesterday and made my initial post, which probably made the bad matches feel even worse. Hopefully today ends up being a much more enjoyable experience.

It’s definitely a good mode for trying out new builds and I honestly thought it would be less stressful for killer players because if you’re having a bad game, at least you can chalk it up to the fact you’re not using your usual perks and add-ons. My mind-set wouldn’t be that I have to play sweatier to overcompensate, it would be that I can play more relaxed and see what fun plays I can do with the perks I’ve been given.

That just shows that standard lobbies have less players. Even during the 10th anniversary event you could get more bloodpoints in normal mode because it had higher multiplier because more survivors were playing event queue. Those are not meant to steer anyone to play one mode over the other they are there to indicate what side needs more players and as you can see on your picture the normal side needed more survivor players than the event.

Because the devs equate tunneling with killing in how they were making the anti tunnel changes. As well survivors love to say the killer tunneled them out when they litteraly didnt i have had survivors tell me I tunneled them and seen teammates say they got tunneled when they objectively were not tunneled.

  • So far it's an okayish gamemode, only played in surv though. The main issue isn't the gamemode itself but the perks who are either too situational or too bad to be worth using (or both lol), I feel like I'm playing a perkless game sometimes because I can't do much with what I got lol.

  • I honestly never play it. It was a fun little gimmick but my interest died as quickly as the mode came. Now Lights Out - that's a game mode I would play permanently.

  • I love Chaos Shuffle on both sides.

It's so refreshing not having to deal with the same bland, over-powered meta perks in every single match. I wish they brought back this mode more instead of 2v8 every three months.
