my first, and true, main are the Legion their downs come from pure m1 skill and their Frenzy gives foolproof info that made me conscious of survivor locations and habits that it just naturally translated into becoming a Cenobite enjoyer. Pinhead needs to know where everybody is the instant the box spawns, and he needs to secure downs fast or lose all the pressure he spent the game building up(and may never get back once lost) so that just appealed to me I guess.
The Box is like a hex that survivors must cleanse...but I have to "cleanse" too? No other killer values the same thing that survivors do like that. When I play survivor, the poor Pinheads I run into aren't prepared to meet a fellow seeker of pleasure. The Box gives no special treatment to Pinhead and thats, like, super cool, man.
I dont play PH nor have gone up against him, i wish for my first one to be seen so i can show off my box logic
Myers because i love stealth killers. Being all menacing and stalking people actually getting rewarded by his kit is something i find really neat, like the proper way to play the guy is to just stand there and stare into your soul while you're not looking, how cool is that?
i usally just try and mog them but slowly walking towards them
Unknown, because he was the first killer in years that actually unsettled me.
Pyramid Head - snipes through walls with iri seal is fun
Hag - people think she sucks
Plague - watched a Magi video
Unknown - demoman from tf2
Wesker - hug tech
Trapper - invisible traps
Realistically I've mained every killer for a solid 2-3 months or more depending on said killer but these are the ones that I just have loads more of time compared to the rest.
Demo was my first true main. Back in the days when the killer roster wasn't so big, Demogorgon was one of the most fair and balanced killer at that time.
I really liked the Stranger Things chapter even though l have never watched the series back then. Demogorgon was fun to play and It was the first killer to have a unique Chase music.
I wish unknown had more stealth to his kit. Don't get me wrong i love Unknown but I've seen people that ran less than meta full stealth builds on it and they're peak terrifying.
Well as you can guess from the pfp. My old main was blight. Picked him up shortly after his release and seeing a streamer called AscensionWho (miss that guy) show off the bug known as "J-Flick" which was a 1 frame flick that allowed you to basically look anywhere during the lunge but would lock your camera after said flick. So I basically just played for those flicks constantly cause I found it fun. Nowadays don't really play blight because it's kinda boring being rail roaded into either playing with adrenaline vial/blighted tag if I want farther flicks which both just make bump logic harder to pull off or in tags case more hail mary swings.
Nowadays more of a Trickster/Twins player if I can stand the bugs.
you've.…never seen Pinhead!? That's a huge shame, honestly. just remember... the Box must be about 16m away from each survivor and at least 40m away from me. I always recommend new Cenobites to use Lethal Pursuer as training wheels just to visualize it but on the survivor end you usually spawn with all other 3 survivors visible so it's just a matter of guessing where I am.(Orelas exhaustion perk can do this)
No i only have around 500 hours any way. Ive always admired Pinhead gameplay and my goal is to eitheir get my first P100 or meet a Cenobite
my current 2 mains are doc and dracula - though I am mostly playing drac as of right now. I LOVED doc b/c of his ability to locate survivors relatively easily and block pallets, vaults, etc. But I have shifted away from him b/c he works well in lower MMR lobbies but as I started winning many rounds- I started facing opponents who knew exactly how to maximize gen pressure+ never missed a single skill check.
Currently I am testing out dracula b/c he seems to be just an arguably better chaser/killer in *most situations + has better map mobility. I have always loved the entire concept of vampires - which is why I chose to start playing him when I was getting frustrated w/ doc - and I honestly am not yet let down w/ Dracula. I have found that running PWYF in wolf form drac is super solid b/c you can get 17%+ haste easily to chase down survivors (running Hex: nothing but misery also off-sets the loss of the 1 PWYF tokens from hitting a survivor).
*note - these are updated as of 6/22/2026 using the last 30 days of info- since that time I have played a dozen or so matches and gotten mostly 4k's as drac and a few 2k's - I expect my kill rate to be within 1% difference of what it is as of that posted time though
ah ok, we got some new blood! if you have 500 hours that actually makes sense, sadly.
not everyone likes the notion that if you have less than 1,000 hours you're a beginner but the sad fact is even at 1,000 hours you could still have killers you haven't seen(usually Pinhead, Twins, Artist, Hag)
you're on switch, right? they can't play with other platforms can they? I play Xbox on NA East trying to keep the dream alive
i actually can and i have seen every killer other then Cenobite somehow.
but its fine, i enjoy the fact im a beginner, its amazing how much i have to learn still!
Switch can indeed game with others.
personally im trying to learn all i can to help newer players in the future!
mmmm does 1100 hrs on my old xbox count towards my total hrs if I use laptop now?? 😅
if you love to learn you'll go far around here! I love making builds more than playing the game so reading every perk+ addon i ran into kept me busy and engaged for a very long time.
i too am a build meister, i have Otzs add on tierlist open at all times and i will read it for fun because im a nerd.
One day in the future i hope to have mastered a killer and maybe make a guide and help others interested in them.
this game has tons of depth!
i have a notebook full of add on combos id love to try
Nemesis... I bought him and sadako, played him first and started repeating "jill Valentine :D" 'Leon S. Kennedy :D" "The Nemesis :D" with a deep voice for like 2 days, and booom WOOOW NEMESIS I LOVE NEMESIS UOOOOU (also he was absolute horrendous and i like playing bad characters at certain point, now i simply enjoy him in general)
The year is 2020. Freddy, my ride or die, has been reworked and is nothing like his old form, so while still enjoyable just isn't scratching the same itch. Wraith, the first, is still shockingly weak. Then, in June, along comes my saving grace: Executioner.
Everyone called his power weak, clunky, and underwhelming. Having mained old Freddy, when I heard these reviews I just knew I had to try him out. Turns out I found a killer with a phenomenal skill ceiling (just also a high floor) who can hit crazy trickshots while having some of the quickest chases & time-to-kill in the game. His limitations just make him more interesting to me - his unique movement while using rights of judgement, using rights of judgement, the torment trails, the way punishment of the damned moves in little segmented sections, the sound design - everything about it is just incredible. And despite being really good in the micro and lacking movement, he still gives plenty to think about in the macro - who to chase, why, where to chase them to, where to zone people away from, where to torment, where to cage, when to cage, etc. I was promised an underwhelming killer who'd be dead on arrival; I found someone I was determined to make work, and I've mained him ever since.
Long live the Executioner.
one day ill get the hang of him, one day
Wesker was my main until recently. I only even bothered trying this game because of his inclusion and my first 6 months were just playing Wesker. Eventually I tried Plague because I thought she was funny, then branched out from there.
Currently my main is Henry. I wasn't even planning on getting him because I'm on console and he's ranged, but after playing a few matches against him I loved the audio cues and the Henry Creel skin's voicelines. At first I just had a ton of fun landing shots even though I was doing bad stats-wise. 140 gameplay hours later and the numbers have much improved, but he's simultaneously the most satisfying and most frustrating killer I've played. SB/Vigil prerunners holding W at the first hint of my approach have never been so infuriating.
Victor is fun to play but its also satisfying getting to pressure two locations as both Charlotte and Victor.
lethal pursuer, i'm all ears, misty day remains of judgement, and a dream is all you need. i believe in you
i have Henry, sucked at him refused to play him until i saw Knightlight slaughter team Blizzard with him, now i have the motivation
ill give it a try, i shall report on my results
No idea what those words mean but I hope you give him a go. Successful trajectory prediction shots through walls are a great feeling.
sorry this was back at a dbd tourney. some guy named Knightlight used Henry and the things this guy did were savage. i was in awe. yeah ill try him again
I came back to the Game after like, months [i wasnt around for the laura Croft stuff even] so my mains are all brand new
i chose a few to mess around with as im still getting back in the Flow of it.
I love Pyramid head cause I just finished SH2, his POTD feels amazing to hit, especially prediction shots, and the cages are just a nice form of free hooks that I dont have to spend time on.
Pinhead is nice cause I like his voice lines and how weird he looks. I miss alot of chains unfortunately but I dont mind cause its still fun to hit them when I do.
Im American so I must like Death Slinger. The gun is so simple yet so effective.
Doctor has so much available through add ons it can feel like playing 2 different killers. Every change can be tuned towards a specific match and playstyle i just love testing out new combos of add-ons to see how it affects survivors ♥︎
SH2 was fantastic imo
I started maining nurse all the way back at her release due to map design. I play her until today, but somewhere inbetween hillbilly took the crown due to more skill expression in his chainsaw and better map design overall.
So i started the game back in 2017 and as soon as freddy released i mained him cause its freddy BUT i wouldn't say Main cause i was hella inactive to this time and came back in 2020 and played every killer. When The Artist came out i liked her designe and unique power so much, shes my main till today and i'm so happy she gets so much love in form of legenderys
Started with Wraith on the advice of others. Simple power, very easy to pick up and use without having to learn both a clunky/complex power as well as general killer play. Also a great way to get M1 fundamentals down.
Played a custom game with some friends within that same week, bought Springtrap as a joke because some of them didn't know he was in the game and our little group had a lot of ironic love for FNAF. Accidentally realised I really loved how he played and his goofy personality.
Stuck with Springtrap because his unique projectile lets me arc throws over loops as well as his switch from 4.4 to 4.6m/s letting me consolodate on that skill-shot in decent time. It made for a nice feedback loop of dopamine that also progressed the game.
Nowadays I enjoy him simply for always having options. He's not especially fantastic at anything (aside from camping hook with his axe but I don't do that anyway), but that flexibility gives him mind games of his own.
He can hit and run, commit chase, spread pressure or focus it, anti-loop or pallet munch, play a stealth/fake TR game with cheeky tricks, predict survivor paths and entirely invalidate a whole jungle gym with his M2, play Chess by Daylight by securing the gens with the best doors/worst resources… None of these strats consistently result in wins, but even with dedicated builds for them his base kit is capable enough to allow you to switch it up depending on your opponents.
Sadly. I see ST mains becoming rarer with the advent of Jason. While Jason isn't 1-1 a better Springtrap, he is capable of almost all of the same stuff and better at most of them too.
Dracula. I've played through ALL the games start to finnish, even 100%ing the achievements in the latest collections they released. In over 26 games, he is the the final boss in about 23 of them. And out of alll the games there was only one where you play as him, in a wii fighting game. (Not counting gabriel's version of Dracula as its kind of a rewrite).
So having him be playable in dbd is a huge first for the series. And his playstyle is balanced enough to be very strong yet not often complained about. Adaptable to most situations. The hellfire pillars were a nice touch as he uses them in almost every boss fight.
Springtrap. Been a big fan of fnaf since 2014 and always told my friends that if he was added I'd stop playing survivor and just play him, which pretty much came true lol
I just love everything about him. He looks fantastic, the best he's ever looked without question imo. Love his animations and sound design, especially his voice lines as he sounds like he's just having a grand ol time.
When it comes to his power it's just satisfying to land, especially an orbital. I could be losing a game but if I make a hail Mary shot over a high wall loop and hear that satisfying crunch of the axe hitting a survivor I'm pretty much on cloud nine for the rest of the game lol
I own and have played every killer. Early on I played a lot of Legion, Executioner, and eventually a TON of Cenobite. I took a long break and upon returning around the time of Chucky's release I just couldn't settle on a true main. A friend of mine had suggested I try a haste build for Clown and after a few games of tokyo drifting around tiles like I'm Takumi Fujiwara I just couldn't put the beast down.
Beyond that I like clowns, fools, and jesters to an extent most people might perceive as concerning. Clown's jiggle physics and piss sniffing tendencies are just the icing on the cake. It's as if it were meant to be!
Clown's sound design is pretty awesome mostly in reference to the bottles popping, especially if you use the party bottles add-on. His disgustingly jovial laugh when he slaps someone could warm a cold cup of coffee and I just absolutely adore his chase music.
Visual design is also very appealing… to some… at least from first person pov (Kenneth is an acquired taste for sure). I love the way he twirls his knife betwixt his fingers like a 2016 youtube csgo surf commentary youtuber. His mori is funny and very true to him. I love his keyring of fingers. Everything about the guy is weird and he's not very likeable but despite that I have loads of fun charging people down like a bull and slapping my belly. Diminishing returns kind of cut me deep as a haste clown enjoyer but I would be lying if I said the inadvertent nerf wasn't well deserved.
Lastly I do tend to be somewhat contrarian and telling people that I main clown much to their chagrin fills me with determination. I love clown
I… love… slapping… my… belly…
This is single handedly the greatest message ive ever seen on this forum
So my I'll give my base game, origional and licensed.
Base: Hag.
Hag is one of the few legit creepy designs. Her base lore is fantastic and I do love her gameplay. She also has a sick mori and some of the best cosmetics in the game, family knowledge is my favorite.
OG: Unknown
I love him for similar reasons as Hag. He is legit creepy, his power is actually quite fun. His lore (or lack thereof) is amazing and the marketing behind him is some of the best.
Licensed: Dracula.
Im a massive fan of the classic universal monsters so getting to play as one is legendary. Not to mention he is one of the best adapted killers in the game. His abilities are fun to use and powerful in the right hands.
This is the nicest thing someone has said to me in a while. Thank you, and good thread!
Aww your welcome, your going into my DBD HOF because of that message lol. thank you i appreciate, i love listening to others gameplay and love for killers
I don't like dash killers because movement in DBD feels awful, but I also didn't want to play an M1 killer because those are miserable (RIP dredge, you're too cool for this game). I also don't like stealth killers so out of the characters I could tolerate, nemesis was the least bad option.
I first mained Unknown 3 years ago. 2023. I liked him because he was horrific. His playstyle was Unpredictable and unsettling at the same time.
He is very challenging and I like a challenge and eventually he became the only killer I could keep up with. Everyone else was rather to hard or to boring to playing as. So i fully mained him for 3 years.
Now im maining Springtrap because he feels similar in the same reasons as Unknown. So yeah
As soon as I seen pig was coming to the game I was ecstatic the saw franchise is one of about 4 things that saved my life literally and we've been in a while ride as pig players in dead by daylight the uniqueness was simply that she's got almost everything in her kit for those who don't know the four cornerstones of killer power designs is mobility, chase, map control and tracking they took away pigs tracking because people were abusing it and her mobility is lacking because she moves slower when in crouch the anti loop dash when it works the head traps are an infection like plagues even though they've had to be weakened so killers wouldn't tunnel and the basekit stealth and before the changes she was one of the only killers for the majority of play that has had the double wammy of deep meaning with me personally as well as had having all categories litch and dracula have all categories as well but my second most played is death slinger and third being pin head by proxy between pig slinger and pin head you can essentially put together a picture in your head of me in real life funnily enough dead by daylight means a lot of me and I want it to continue exceeding well after I'm dead and gone
I need to get my Houndmaster hours up because this is still my stats:
Pig has always been a nice mix of stealth and aggression for me, with the RBTs being a fun extra bonus.
You mentioned houndy and I'm just curious... What's your favorite part of the master of dawgs? I liked her a lot when she released but couldn't stick with her because I'm not fast enough with direction changes on snug.
I prefer to use Snug to herd Survivors around, so its just really fun for them to think they've juked the dog to get a face full of me around the corner.
I'll have to take this and apply it to some of my matches. Thank you Balrog :3
Frank Stone. He might not be out yet but i (wil) main him bc of the game and his design is just awesome to me
if you need Houndmaster tips I got you ❤️
I would say that the killer I play the most / main is either trickster or skull merchant.
At first I really didn't like trickster purely because of how he looked. However I ended up unlocking him because I wanted to get his perks on other killers, and out of curiosity I played a few games and discovered that I actually liked his power. The neon cyberpunk throwing knives were satisfying (especially when I sniped someone by throwing a knife through a small gap). As time went on the killer really grew on me and I don't really mind his appearance anymore. Even if the recent "rework" brought along several rather vexing downsides I still play him because no other killer has the same appeal as him.
As for skull merchant I liked her as soon as I saw the PTB. The drones ability to track people in real time on the little tablet, and the ability to cover multiple floors with the same zone was paradise for me(I want to clarify that I hated the chess merchant play style, nothing is more boring to me then not chasing people and kicking the stupid generators). With the original skull merchant I loved playing on midwitch especially because I could take full advantage of the multiple floors and set up a web of drones to trap people in, plus all the add ons were very easy to apply, and the exhaustion one essentially nullified dead hard a perk that I truly despised back then and still dislike today.
If it were up to me I would bring back the zones but make it so they can't expose people working on generators instead it would reveal their location on the tablet and prevent any scan progress from decaying, then when they stop repairing and run away they start gaining progress again. Oh but I would keep the current stealth system of recalling a drone gives you some undetectable.
I am not a fan of the current skull merchant, the laser beams just aren't that appealing to me and are dull, all the special animations of the frightened survivors in the zone are gone, I don't get nearly as much value from the little tablet because the location marker doesn't last very long and I am still unsure if they made pulling out the tablet slow you down or not(because that was a thing in the past and I wouldn't put it past these developers to bring it back).
I am disappointed that the skull merchant is now the dead merchant, and that the developers are trying to weasel their way out of putting in a modicum about of effort of giving this killer a good rework(I liked the drone crash idea but it if off the table now from what I know). I still like her design and play her occasionally, but I really don't like the current laser beam power.
I still play these killers because I like them, even though I am frustrated with their current state(especially merchant), they are unique and there isn't anything else in this game with the same appeal for me.
Legion seemed cool my first game I got a dc so that made me feel good after that I just kinda enjoyed the killer I loved the run and also really enjoy all the amazing skins also legion is edgy and I love it because I can be corny with it
