When the game is being banned in the country is one thing.

But when playable characters are being blocked - is just weird. I remember seeing how China doing different censor to some characters or aspects of the game (such as skeletons or skulls, girls outfits), but blocking the whole DLSs with characters? Never.

At this point they (Chinese government) could've just block the whole game. Otherwise it sounds like people from China playing a different DBD, with less characters and skins.

I'm not very aware of restricted content in China, but do you think the licenses being from Japan has anything to do with it? Does China or Japan ever block entertainment from the other solely for political reasons? I'm sorry we can't all share and have the same content. I hope there is a clever workaround for this.

No I hate you and the dbd community. Have a terrible day.

    Love you, too 🥺

  • Wish Quentin's perks had some sort of rework.

I think Pharmacy is pretty decent and good enough to not really need a change, but if they did do something with it, I think maybe have it make no noises with chests at all? It's honestly not a big deal, but it's just dumb to have a perk as harmless as that still make noises. Another alternative could be like having it be a token. I can get 1 emergency medkit if I choose to do so. Maybe if you're next to a chest and want to use that token, you search with M2 instead of M1. Just quality of life, I guess?

Wake Up should let me see where everyone is while I'm opening the exit gate. Maybe it also gives a mini haste for 10 seconds after touching a gate, so I could potentially get ready to bodyblock someone coming to the gate, or to flee if I'm getting interrupted. I've heard some say maybe it can mask progress on the lights or even mask noises, but I wouldn't mind just the other buffs, since these could be used for Technician or something.

Vigil. Idk lol. Maybe up the values, but don't have it stack like the Open Handed rework.

  • @deckyr said:

the survivor perk i think needs a buff the most is lightweight. make it spread your scratch marks out more, or make them fainter, just... yknow, something. but that doesn't mean nothing else needs buffs... there's so many perks that have too many restrictions or their effects just aren't powerful enough. or both! loads of survivor perks are just "cool, but not actually useful or helpful for most of what survivors need to be doing". if you filtered every survivor perk in the game into categories of "objective progression, chase winning, stealth, miscellaneous", so many perks would fall into the miscellaneous category. and there shouldn't be any perks in there.

the survivor perk i think needs a nerf the most is spine chill. the reason i choose spine chill is because it's a base perk. it feels like the kind of perk that's so powerful, it should be unlocked from another survivor, but it just isn't. there's a few survivor perks that are all very strong, but this is probably the strongest relative to its accessibility - it requires no other perks, and it requires no survivors.

the killer perk i think needs a buff the most is thrill of the hunt. it's literally just for totem guarding. at least make the bloodpoints global, not that i think that's relevant to the perk's power, because it's just "get a noise alert when a survivor starts working on a totem". this doesn't even need to be a hex! that's the kind of effect that's so weak it doesn't need to be turned off and the fact that survivors can rob me of my blood point bonus (which is the reason i'm running this at all) is just adding insult to injury.

the killer perk i think needs a nerf the most is ruin. it escalates the killer's pressure in a way where doing Literally Anything Aside From Gens is actively losing the game instead of just "not winning". maybe a polite way to nerf it would be to buff survivor totem finding, or maybe prioritise powerful hex perks on central totems and weaker hex perks on outer totems. just spitballing.

    I want lightweight to be good, too ;-;

As for Spine Chill, it can be annoying as hell when survivors get a head start to stealth (some just need your terror radius to start hiding), but I don't think it warrants a nerf. I think the issue is the combination of perks that makes stealthing annoying to go against (like Iron Will not giving breathing noises sometimes - is that still a thing? I'm not sure). These survs just waste their time being immersed sometimes, too. Or you can just moonwalk to the gen at a certain distance so Spine Chill doesn't proc.

And I don't think moving Spine Chill to be unlockable through a survivor does anything. People will probably get them eventually. I don't think BHVR would ever take away Spine Chill from people who already have it now either.

The most common toxic killer stereotype is of course Insidious basement bubba. However, I rarely come across a Bubba like this and have come across a lot more body-blocking wraiths than them. Could their population have been greatly exaggerated?

I've probably seen 3 of them. Some people say, "Oh, it's just an Wraith AFK," when nothing is going on during the game, but sometimes it's actually an insidious Bubba. If you never check basement you'll never know :o

  • Saw this thread the other day and thought to come back to it. If you find some consistent correlation, I'd be interested to hear what it is.

I'm devotion 7, somewhere before level 10, and 1,580 hours.

  • This sounds ridiculous, but I've been trying pretty hard not to run Ruin or Pop on any of my killers so I can make it to rank 5 (or even 1) and feel like I've earned it for sure. Sadly, the highest rank I've gotten was 6.

    Today I was playing Oni and had gotten this team down with 3 gens left and this purple rank sweetheart said I was good enough to be in the red ranks. That I was genuinely challenging and it's what makes games fun. That I'd definitely make it to red ranks soon ;-;

I'm sure it'll eventually come around, but that was just reassuring and neat, since lately I've felt like I haven't been consistent as killer. They went out of their way to stay and say that to me like wowie.

  • @CalamityJane said:

So Freddy's perks are all pretty terrible. Blood Warden and Remember Me haven't been touched by anyone for the better part of years. End Game Collapse was a massive nerf for Remember Me, which lost max stacks and max duration, where Blood Warden became more commonly countered by 99ing exit gates as it has the added benefit of not activating EGC.

Both of these perks are entirely irrelevant in today's game. Remember Me has a very niche effect which, even when it is maxed out, is unlikely to impact the outcome of the match. It also relies on the obsession being dead as 1/4 survivors gets to ignore the perk entirely. It's also considerably worse on killers with powers that help them get hits, as it requires basic attacks. Blood Warden is countered in 99% of matches, even when not present.

So, in order to make them both more relevant, here's my concept for reworks.

    Blood Warden.

As soon as an exit gate is opened, Blood Warden is activated. Once per match, when an exit gate is opened, the Entity will block both exit gates for 40/50/60 seconds. Survivor auras are revealed while standing in an exit gate.

Rather than requiring a hook once the gate is open, the gates will be blocked as soon as either is opened, at the start of the EGC.

How is this better? Rather than 99ing being the be all and end all of how to play exit gates, it would now be risky to leave gates 99ed. If a survivor were rescued and all 4 ran to the gate bodyblocking, opened it, and went to leave, they could find themselves trapped by Blood Warden. This surprise and horror would match the original intent of Blood Warden. This would also remove the rare occurence that a killer can activate Blood Warden with less than 60 seconds left of EGC, guaranteeing that everyone left in the match is dead with no counterplay.

    Remember Me.

You become obsessed with one survivor. Each time you hit your obsession with a basic attack, you increase the opening time of exit gates by 4 seconds up to a maximum of 8/12/16 seconds. While an exit gate is not being opened by a survivor, it will automatically and immediately start to regress at 25% of the opening speed.

Firstly, the main effect of Remember Me should apply to ALL survivors. This means that as killer you no longer run the risk of a perk that is simply accidentally ignored by having the right survivor on the exit gate. This would also pressure survivors to open the exit gates as soon as they realise Remember Me is in effect, as not doing so would run the risk that when they need to be opened they may have regressed a couple of seconds and cause you to die trying to open them.

    Really interesting concepts.

I always thought it would be interesting if either Remember Me or a new perk would have stacks towards reducing the EGC timer. That with your or even the current Blood Warden would be wild.

  • I love Noob3. I think back then I was really iffy and kinda got annoyed with him almost like I feel about Ochido now, especially hearing he had some sorta drama or some of the community thought Noob was egh. I actually liked Ochido a lot when I first played, but he quickly got annoying. I guess seeing Ochido made me appreciate Noob a bit more and slowly but surely I've begun to warm up to Noob. Plus, I think he's either different now or I've developed my own opinion. Not sure.

  • @CyanideBlaze said:

If the killer were camping, I would have understood, tbh, I have been camped to death before, but even when the killer was chasing others, I was sort of ignored and they fully stated it was because I did not equip a toolbox to match them.

I dunno, I am pretty new to the game and I've only been playing like a couple months so I don't know what does and doesn't count as griefing in the game.

Sorry about that situation man, but good on you to check if it was an actual offense instead of acting impulsively. There's a description on the reporting categories, but even then it can get a tad confusing. For sure report anything like hacking (like a killer or survivor clipping or obviously zooming through the map) AND make sure you report IN GAME and through Behavior's support tickets. Don't leave the endgame chat until you've reported them through Behavior's support tickets, because you're gonna need their Steam accounts and info (or it's probably something else for consoles).

    I'm assuming you're in ranks where people probably smurf, troll, or are just that stupid. Hopefully your future games aren't like this ;-;

As far as what's considered griefing in this game, I guess it would be the survivors working with the killer. Like the killer and survivor(s) farming you while the others don't get harmed/farmed and you die right away for it. Or survivors bodyblock you for the killer or even throw a pallet for you to get stuck with the killer and get hit/downed. Things like that. Just make sure you can tell it's not some noob doing it by accident and the person actually repetitively tries to get you killed.

Ive always assumed that playing during peak weekend hours would give you the best chance of meeting the +/- of 6 rule. I would think the presence of the most generous amount of killers and survivors would allow for closer mm'ing results.

I might be a wacko, but i think the sweet spot for killer is on sat + sun during 12pm - 5pm. Mm'ing usually seems good enough and survivors mostly chill types.

Good point. The times I play at are long queues, but if you want peak enjoyment then that 12-5pm time frame might be ideal. That or the pool of survivors is so large that there aren't enough killers to make up for certain ranks, so you're thrown into something unfair. I really don't know, but I'll pay attention to that next time I play. We need devs to make some stats on this stuff again.

I've used self-care for as long as I can remember, specially when I pair it with Botany knowledge (my favorite perk in the game), and honestly, people say its a waste of time but thanks to that perk I've been prepared to help my teammates out whenever they need the help cause I can heal up quickly thanks to botany. If you think I should, what perk do you think I should replace it with? My current load-out is SC, Botany, Kindred (amazing atm, I get safe hooks 24/7 cause of it) and borrowed time.

Most people are suggesting a medkit/Inner Strength + Botany, which is valid, but if you wanna help your team as far as healing, even Solidarity can help out with that. It cuts a lot of time if three of you are healing and you guys need to reset real quick. Just another alternative although it may not be the best because I'm sure it's somewhat situational.

I've been playing this game for a couple of months now and I've managed to work my way to level 13 killer (not bad considering I only have a few hours a day to play this game😊). But it's gotten to the point to where I keep facing red rank swf and...it's not fun anymore. Nothing worse than approaching the exit door and seeing all four survivors lined up in a row teabagging you as they walk out (true story!).

Recently I leveled up Freddy to the point to where I really want to play him, but all I keep getting matched up against are red ranks. It's nice to think if this game considers me to be that good, but I know I'm not! LOL

Is anyone else a little too apprehensive to play killer? I find playing as a lone survivor far less nerve-wracking, because I'd rather be paired up with a red rank instead of going up against them.

Honestly, I haven't seen that many red ranks paired with me (at least a month or two ago when I was playing killer). It might be because I was in green ranks, which maybe has a bigger pool of players to match with. Could also be the time of day I play, which is very late lol. Yet, when I play red rank survivor, I might get paired with green or yellow rank killers (green ranks more often, though). It's almost making me lose my nerve, because survivors will also be the rank of the killer and it's just a pain to die on first/second hook or maybe I get tunneled. It's that or maybe my team is green/purple rank and the killer doesn't stand a chance. Sick of this crap.

Sorry about the matchmaking system, man. Maybe play around midnight if you can. Maybe the pool of killers will be so low that you're the only available killer of your rank and get matched correctly LOL. I have no clue how it works, tbh.

I've seen this ones way to much in noob survs and killers, which ones do YOU think are noob perks?

This means that the perks in this list, for me, if you use them it's a waste of a perk slot.

    This are the ones, imo:

    Killer:

    • NOED in any killer except Legion, Clown, Plague and Micah the Cowboy. AND except for endgame or full hexes builds.

    Survivor:

    • Selfcare
    • DS (If you know how not to get hit you won't get tunneled)
    • Urban Evation (Fixated is faster and better)

Rank 1 killer and survivor, Xbox, Trapper, GF, Bill and Kate mains.

Not that it's bad for anyone to run this, but if I see Streetwise, I just immediately assume the person is a literal noob who's leveling a new Nea. I'll think they're even more noob if I see them using this perk on a character that's not Nea. I especially think they're a noob if they're using Distortion, but I'm kinda glad they use it if they're not wasting their time in lockers, so there's that.

  • @Ghoste said:

The best use I can think of is when the Killer has Hex: Ruin up and you have to leave the gen you're on for whatever reason. It'll keep it from regressing while you're away. This doesn't matter once the totem is cleansed though.

People say it's to counter Pop, but it only lasts half as long as Pop so the Killer can still kick it later.

True, but maybe it takes 30ish seconds or so for the killer to reach it, then you use it. That's just a best case scenario, though. Doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen, but it's cool.

Could even try pairing it with Red Herring for a little trolling.

Yeah, it's too early, but the video is a general prediction

True. Let's hope he's right. Regardless, I think our current player base isn't awfully small, but the more, the merrier of course.

  • I feel like it's too soon to say if people are really coming back for balance changes because they actually want balance. If they came back for balance, then I assume they'd stay longer, but who knows. Maybe they don't like it and the player base declines again. I've always assumed the reason people come back is to have fun with a change. Like for Doctor. My friends personally didn't care about Doctor and actually still don't. They came back not because they thought, "Oh, wow. A balance Doc finally deserved." They came back, because they thought his rework would be cool, but found out Doctor changed only a tad in a survivor's POV. When Freddy got reworked, they actually were around for a tad, but left because of Forever Freddy. It all really depends. A graph can only say so much. I think if the player base remained high, then that says something was done right, I guess?

Has his voiced grown on you since he came out or is he still annoying to everybody? I kinda don’t mind him too much but would’ve preferred Joe Keery to have voice him, Natalia Dyer as well. Also, Would it still be possible for them to redo their voice?

His voice grew on me. It's almost in the same sense that Quentins are inherently ugly, but they're kinda sweet (sometimes). Not that Steve was a wimp or whiny in the show either, but he was kinda soft, so it works?? I'd love their voices redone by the actors, but I don't mind then now, especially Nancy's.

I've tried to main spirit for the past month, and imo, she is hard to master. Because you can't see the survivors or their auras while phasing, you need to rely on audio and small details of, for example, grass whilst predicting where the survivor will go.

Though, recently when I played a normal spirit game, I won a really close match with a swf (1 gen left and it was a 16 minute game) and the survivors kept abusing the endgame chat because, and I quote:

"Stop playing such a skilless character and go play a normal killer, you rank 6 boosted ape cun*"

It seems like on the survivor's perspective, spirit is just a free win once you start playing her, not even try to practice. All her add-ons are "op" and her power is "completely broken and needs a rework". I'll be honest, these survivors could lose against any killer because they were ######### around instead of doing their objective and such, so I don't understand, should I not rely on their mistakes and win? Should I just let them leave?

So, my question is, for you, as a player, do you think that spirit is completely skilless? Please let me know down below.

    Cheers!

Maybe it's like Nurse where I haven't seen her in awhile or don't see her often enough to get annoyed by her at all, so I feel the same about Spirit (as in they're powerful, but it feels earned). I don't understand why people even stopped playing her. I guess she DOES take skill and all the bad Spirit mains left after the rework? Or found a cooler killer? Or something happened? No clue, but I think she takes skill. People say, "Ez just listen, 4head," but I'm sure it's more than that. Before her hitbox nerf she was probably brain dead, but I doubt she is now. I can actually mind game her for real this time (unless I've been going against baby Spirits this whole time lol).

Playing on hawkins against a clown with only 1 david left with me. I have plunderer's instinct which gave me a red key from one of the chests, so I find David and show him the key. He swaps it for his flashlight (I thought that was kinda weird but maybe he wanted to open the hatch so I thought okay why not?). He follows me around and I find the hatch and start teabagging and pointing to it.

This guy just starts teabagging as well and doesn't realise that you can use the key to open the hatch. So I'm dropping the flashlight for him to trade so that I can open it, but he just keeps the key until the clown comes and finds us and kills both of us. I have never been more frustrated as survivor while playing this game. Turns out he was a rank 3 as well

Lmao reminds me of this one time I randomly found a key with Plunderer's and an aura reading addon along with it. This was during the Rift where you had to do a challenge to open hatch twice with a key. So this Yui had been a good faithful teammate it seemed. Just cute, y'know. I find Yui and I drop the key just to show her and then she swaps her medkit for the key and depletes the whole friggin key. I see her pick up her medkit and just leisurely walks away aimlessly from me. She basically saw the Huntress with the key and I turn around and the Huntress is actually right there. Thankfully the Huntress thought I was trolling (which honestly wasn't my intent), but she gave me hatch cuz Quentins are ugly as hell and are cherished. Sadly it didn't help my challenge, but bless that Huntress anyway. Killed the Yui for me.

Back to topic. Yes, I've seen very unaware survivors complain about things teammates do because they have no game sense and are deep down like green/yellow ranks, so wouldn't be a surprise a genuinely noob surv didn't know better. That or the guy is a troll lmao.

They got tired because people were tired of getting in game advertisements for killers they already paid for and clogging up their blood webs and having to spend BP on them.

I already owned Myers, yet his splinters kept appearing in my blood webs. I probably had over 100 of his splinters across all of my killers before they were tired. Again, I already owned him.

I assumed they went away once you owned a DLC. I never got Splinters sadly, but I must've leveled my killers after the Splinters had been removed. When did they get removed?

To be fair, it would be good to test all the killers on the PTB.

For example, Doc didn't get any changes on the PTB, but if people didn't play Doc, we wouldn't have known that there is a critical issue with him right now that causes lots of flashing lights which is harmful to people with epilepsy. If that made it into the live game without any knowledge, do you know how much of a ######### storm that would be?

Hell, it's already bad now as it is being on the PTB.

There's a lot of things that get passed up on PTB and it's pretty sad, so you have a point there. A lot of stupid bugs make it into live because either people didn't test a particular perk or killer or because no one talked about it enough.

Why are splinters even retired? I didn't even know this and wish it was still a thing, even if it's just for KYF or something. Especially updated shards for newer licensed DLCs or even DLCs from BVHR.

  • @GraveHunter said:

If the devs put open ALL the killers on the PTB? That way people who don't get to buy a killer because they don't know if they like it, get a chance to try it for a small period of time during the PTB, so they can decide if they want to buy it.

People who already have the killer don't lose anything, people who don't own killers, can try them out.

Technically it is possible, because they did it with Freddy and with Doctor in the past. So there is nothing to lose, right?

I think they don't do this because it would defeat the purpose of testing the things that need to be tested on PTB, such as any reworked/new killers. Is Legion open in PTB by any chance? I haven't downloaded it yet, so was curious. If you have any currency (Auric Cells or Iridescent Shards) I believe you could purchase characters and go back into live and still have your currency.

An idea since moris now have to have an interaction locking in the killer to decrease "annoying" survivors. Make successive teabags cause exhausted for 30 seconds. Now theres an actually downside for being a prick and before anyone says anything. Cmon.. how often are you crouching 5+ times in a chase less you wanna make fun of em with your sprint burst or dead hard. It'll at least reprimand a survivor for being toxic for a small amount of time.

Then no hook M1 bm'ing from the killer? Who cares, dude. Why're you even mori-spamming in the first place. Survivor probably left to get a drink while you wasted time.

Which one do you enjoy playing as and against more and why? For me its billy because freddy relies on disabling the survivors with his snares which i just dont find fun cause hes just an m1 killer while billy has his chainsaw which is really satisfying to get hits with and when mastered is very powerful

Billy is fun to predict especially if they're ambitious. I don't feel annoyed if they got me. Snare Freddy feels cheap if they put 10 snares in a loop and get me. I mean it's loopable, but feels cheap like a reverse bloodlust.

Pallet Freddy is kinda fun at times. It's an inconvenience to wake up, though. By the time I get back to the gen I was at, the timer is probably half way down anyways and I probably didn't see many loops on the way back that actually don't have pallets. If I lose to a fake pallet I'm not as annoyed, just pretty neutral.

Different people have different lives. Some people may have been busy earlier in the Rift and had more free time towards end only to lose out on some of that because of how much of a mess this game is. Do you think it's fair that players lose out on cool new items because the game ######### up? A couple of extra days won't hurt your precious exclusivity at all. It's just fairly compensating players who were robbed of their chance to get Rift items. You can't even buy 100 Auric Cells to only get the tiers you want because the cheapest option is 500 for $5. People don't want to have 400 cells just laying around because they only wanted a specific tier in the Rift and nothing else.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1187955#Comment_1187955

When the devs lowered the difficulty of some of the challenges back in Tome I, they also made it to where you had to play extra matches if you completed all the challenges to get to tier 70. I've completed all of the Killer challenges and a good portion of the Survivor challenges (around 70%) and I'm only at tier 50.

They did make more challenges compared to Tome I (thank God) because that gave us more Fragments. Then the more difficult challenges that took more matches to complete helped to give more Fragments along the way, but some people complete these challenges fast, which means they earn less Fragments in between challenges.

I think this is why people are in your situation or like in tier 50 after completing every challenge. It means you didn't "grind" enough, but I can't tell if that's fair. I wanna say it isn't and I wonder if they'll talk about it next Tome, but they for sure did a better job this time around.

I wish we earned Rift Fragments for our Player Levels leveling up and/or every 5 levels we get 3 Fragments to compensate people who're at a high level since it takes more XP to level up at that point.

  • I feel like I'M being trolled if you're trying to convince me this is Comic Sans,

but exactly who's hating on Comic Sans? She's wonderful.

Its just an April fools joke since its an odd "universal" thing to hate Comic Sans.

    Hold up.

This font right here is Comic Sans or am I missing something. I must be dumber than hell and I'm exposing myself right here.

I think it's to encourage people to buy tiers unfortunately. Where did they say that completing the Tome would be enough to finish the Rift? It's not that I don't agree, but I just want to know where that came from.

Not sure if someone answered your question and honestly I'm not sure if this is the stream they said it, but somewhere here I believe a dev said that finishing the Archives/challenges from Tome II should mean you'll have the Rift completed by then.

    https://youtu.be/3Aoe1H282oY

I didn't even look through the stream again to confirm if that's what they specifically said, but I do remember hearing this.

  • Exactly. Honestly didn't know people complained about it LOL. I like the new forums look if that's what it's about.

    What's wrong with the font??

There is nothing in this game worse than being facecamped. Literally NOTHING! "Just do gens!" Okay you're still forcing one player to depip and lose all fun in the game and thats the problem! There's no counter for it and its ridiculous like seriously make it bannable I just wanna have fun in this game and this is the third time today I've gotten face camped on first hook when there is 3+ gens still remaining :/

Be proud that you ate one for the team and sat out the whole camp to buy them time. To me, that's one of the best teammates.

    Some people WILL save and be successful (besides maybe versus a Bubba or something). Honestly those saves are the most satisfying, so if you do get camped, hope it's near the end of the game ;-;

Good luck, man. It sucks, but the killer probably struggled all game or throughout the day and is putting it out on you, so just mash space bar and move on. It is what it is and be proud you pissed them off enough, I guess lmao

  • I take it back. I think I have a mini "hot take." I think it was dumb that people ever ran Balanced Landing as a meta perk. I don't care if it was to abuse Haddonfield. That's one map of many. It was such a dumb waste of a perk and it doesn't even remove 100% stagger (not a big deal anyways) and once it got nerfed, it was annoying to see it out of meta like anything about it was far from the original perk.

Like what? Now you can't abuse Haddonfield or something? Why would you ever path your route to a friggin hill or stupid drop off in the first place? Perk always ticked me off because it was overrated for a dumb map or maybe I missed something. Only reason I can think of using it as "efficiently" as possible was to mess around at Haddonfield or at some borderline infinite.

Is this okay? To only be lvl 57 when i have completed all of the challenges of the archives?

Had i been atleast close to completion than thats a different story, but its not like im some master gamer or anything like that, but i wanted to complete the rift and i dont have enough free time to play for several hours everyday so i did challenges. And expected that i would be close to my goal when i was done, but as you can see from my screenshots, this is far from the truth.

Do you agree or disagree with me on the matter? Tell me about your thoughts and what they can or shouldn't do about in the comments.

One thing i know they shouldn't do is nothing...

I would either increase the amount of shards for every challenge or remove all the filler tiers and cut it down to 50 tiers. Making it more obtainable would be more healthy in my opinion since this rift is "forcing" me to play more than i want, because i want to complete it all. And that causes burnout, wich is not good for either player or company.

Is the dev team aware of how unbalanced the grind is @not_Queen @Peanits ?

I did every challenge possible (besides Killer specific ones for Doc and Spirit, including the killers' perk specific challenges) and still ended up around tier 63-65(?) I can't quite remember, but despite that fact, it takes me about 3-4 hours to go up a tier purely through Rift Fragments and just pure XP.

I think that's a little much, but I can't say for sure if it really is. I'm about a day or two ahead of the Rift, so it's a super close call.

I will say I did spend some time finishing these challenges, so that means I got a lot of XP before completing a challenge, which would help me get to the next tier on the Rift. If you did the challenges fast, then that could mean you didn't earn more XP for extra Fragments along the way if that makes sense.

I disagree with each of your statements. Well done, you get an upvote!

My unpopular opinion is that the Huntress' humming being omnidirectional is bullshit. Maybe if it became directional when you're in her terror radius it'd be better.

I don't know if this opinion is unpopular or if people just don't know, but Open Handed becomes pretty meta when combined with Kindred.

I used to stack Open Handed with my friends and that crap was so stupid. And that was OLD Kindred. Thanks for reminding me about it.

  • I don't think this is necessarily a hot take or unpopular because I feel there are reasonable people out there that could agree or find an example of this (or not, who knows), but I feel like killers and survivors are more empathetic than it seems and I have noticed both sides try to ease pressure for (what it seems) respect for the other side.

That, or someone running an Ebony and NOED isn't being scummy or toxic (or maybe they actually wanted to be toxic, who knows). It seems they just wanted to play like that and they're genuinely neat to talk to. Bm'ing survivors who looped me to hell and back are actually neat when you talk to them, too.

The devs said their goal was that you should hit 70 if you do all the challenges. Tome 1, I was at about 61 after finishing all challenges except 6 Feet Under. Tome 2, I'm currently at 67 after finishing all but one normal, 3 Rift Crystal challenge. So I'd definitely say they did a much better job, plus we didn't have any absolute nonsense challenges this time around like "4 gens with Dark Sense" or "2 unhooks during EGC". I'll take grindy challenges over stupid, game-throwing challenges any day.

Yes, they definitely seemed to have made challenges from the Archives somewhat align better this time around with the Rift AND the challenges are much more reasonable. It's great. Honestly, the challenges themselves are kinda fun to change your build.

I just made a post about this aswell. Im currently lvl 51 with 5 challenges left meaning i have completed all the archives challenges WAAAAY before im actually finished with the rift so my answer is ######### NO it doesnt give enough...

    JESUS. That's actually really bad. Sorry to hear that man, I hope you can catch up somehow and get the stuff you wanted ;-;

I don't define who a "hardcore" player is based on their game play time. I like to gauge it based on how much they are invested in the game. Someone could be really into the game, but still only have enough time to play for only a couple of hours twice a week. Maybe someone generally plays more than that, but something is going on in their real life, causing them to have to play the game less than they would like to. Then there's people now during this epidemic who are playing more than they usually would. Defining hardcore and casual based on how many hours someone invests in a day has too many variables for my tastes.

Last Rift, I spent 293 hours to get to tier 70. I played only the role that had the fastest queue times at every point (which turned out to be basically a lot of killer near the end) unless I had to play a specific role to get certain challenges done.

Even with minimizing the amount of time as possible, and completing all but 4 challenges in the tome, it still took **293 hours**. If you count the 11 extra days we started with (81 days), then subtract the remaining days I had left by the time I finished, (which was only 4, so 77 days) that means I still spent 3.8 hours *a day* playing DBD dedicated solely to completing the Rift in the most efficient manner I could as possible with the lowest amount of down time. That's NOT GOOD. If I were to do the same thing again, without the extra days, I would have had to played around 4.2 hours a day (an extra 40 minutes) to keep up.

Oh, and before I forget, I also made sure to get both roles "first match of the day" EXP bonus. That extra 600 EXP everyday saved me a game or two worth of time every day.

In fact, I was pushing so hard for the Rift, that if I queued up for a match, and went to make food or something, and a match happened while I was still AFK, it would end up being an "oopsie" moment, just so I could milk EXP for shards even faster with as little idle time as possible despite being AFK.

I don't know about you, but a LOT of people, even hardcore players, do not have the time to play 3 or 4 hours a day because they have these things called jobs, and there's families, and sometimes holidays or family events roll around, sometimes life itself happens and you can't play for a number of reasons. Sometimes the game itself breaks and we can't play. The game was down for over a day during the first Rift and I played for nine hours straight the next day to make up for the "lost" day. I had to do the same thing the next two days after both Christmas Eve and Christmas itself. I had to do the same thing during Canadian Thanksgiving because that was a family event that I had to leave home for and obviously could not play that day.

Completing the first rift was ######### horrible and as someone who was only getting the free track worth of rewards, I barely got anything for it. I've still not recovered from the burnout completing the first Rift has left me.

That's exactly how I feel. I wonder if the devs will talk about this. They did the Rift so much better this time around by offering more challenges, because there was a lot of downtime in the first Level of Tome I after you finished them (in my experience, I guess). I just hope they offer more challenges other than killer specific/perk specific ones. I don't care if I don't get them all done on time, as long as they're available to me near the end of the Rift to lessen this grind. If I genuinely had to play everyday but for an actual hour or two, I wouldn't mind, but not the hours like you said you had to do.
