It was not nerfed due to overuse. Overuse was a clue that we should investigate. Upon investigation, we found several issues with it. These were explained in the design notes posted about it.
Then can you tell me what clue led the dev team to looking at Billy's base power and not just his addons?

Well it might be that they want to keep the billy "discourse" over in the ptb feedback category but I wouldnt put it past the devs to see a couple mean comments and just shut down a whole thread of legit criticism.

Dang it, hoped you wouldnt read it! My great plan is now ruined thanks to you!
Honestly, I am on mobile right now, thus I couldnt be arsed to suffer through more than basic editing, thus went eith something more eye catching.
About stealth, dbd was advertised as such back in 2016, before it even released, as. Day 1 player I hunger for stealth, as I find juking and avoiding detection to be much more engaging and fun than looping. To each their own.
But one playstyle shouldnt be nullified because someone finds another one to be more "fun" for them, both should be viable.
I mean stealth is still viable you just need to use it sporadically to confuse the killer but just hiding all the time is so unbelievably boring for both sides but especially killer, I ask you to find a killer main who enjoys going against purely stealth survivors other then yourself, dont know if you are a killer main though

Suppose some people might find it funny to play hide and seek with the killer but even that would get old fast. I genuinely don't see what they could gain from being ultra stealthy in a game like DbD, because running a killer is the one part of the game as a survivor where your skill is actually tested against a human player, and it's something you can improve at, which is kind of what a PvP game is all about.
Hell if I know

I'm glad I'm not the only one who literally feels nauseous from playing DbD for too long. And yeah idk why people are complaining about stealth being worse. There's no interaction going on when a survivor is crouching around and generally being useless. Like yes there is a time and place for a bit of stealth and avoiding detection but that kind of stealth will still be easy to pull off even with an extra 15 degrees FOV to killers.
Not only that but never interacting with the killer is pretty boring on the survivor side too at least for me it is, if game has gone on for too long and I havent been chased I'll just chase the killer down till they decide to chase me.

Disagree, as someone who loves good fov, the limited fov of killers is a balancing thing and it works nicely, it is also one of the least invasive small fovs that I have experienced (I still prefer the release version of killer's camera than what we have now).
Some boosted SWF survivor main complained in this topic that stealth a d hiding is boring, to which I say, eat a poop and go towards a light (in a virtual world, because sjw). People have fun in different ways. Stealth should be more promoted than what extremely boring meta we currently have.
You say the current way the game is played is boring and stealth should be promoted, I'd have to hard disagree playing hide and seek as killer is so boring it makes me want to dc, it's literally why I run whispers and I run shadowborn every once in awhile if I'm feeling nauseous since playing killer without shadowborn for extended periods of time makes me feel like vomitting, but yeah neat gameplay element I guess.

@IMilkNobody_108 said:
why isnt there just a fov setting?
Because the devs tried to make FOV a game factor instead of just giving everyone better FOV like every other game in existence, it's a neat idea but poorly executed imo and I truly believe it should be taken out of the game in favor of an actual setting

Before I say anything I'm saying that I play both sides of this game amd I enjoy both sides. I'm not being some whiney survivor main when I say this.
A mori should only be able to be used in my opinion after the second hook. To mori after first hook is a shameful thing I feel for the killer to do. It's the sign of an insecure and unskilled killer desperate to get a 4k at any cost who is afraid of a longer game.
Plus, one has to consider that you get less points as killer and lessen your chances of pipping when you do this. It makes no sense to me as a killer why anyone does this outside of desperation to meet their definition of winning. As a killer I have never used a mori, I see no point in it. I would rather play the game and have fun, and have the survivors I'm playing with enjoy it as well. I'm not going to farm mind you, my goal is points and to get the most points I need to kill them but i dont tunnel or camp or one hook mori to do it.
To many killers use it to shorten the game to get their win. Survivors do not have an option to shorten the game. Even if a key is brought they have to complete enough gens to get the hatch to spawn. So either all the gens need to be done or your entire team has to die.
Last night I played against a rank 2, one hook mori killer and found it shameful, not to mention insulting after I had to wait 20 minutes for a match.
Stop making excuses. Don't blame swf, ruin, keys, what have you. The new Ruin is far better than the old one of you understand how it works. Learn to really play killer. Remember it's a game and have fun. If you relax and just enjoy it you'll find you do a lot better ranking up than you did before.
Peace out.
I absolutely agree that moris need a change dont necessarily agree with your change but a mori change should only come with a key change as they basically accomplish the same thing, which is to skip your obj. Keys to a lesser degree but still they have the same problem.

In dead by daylight there are many, many opinions, especially due to the amount of playstyles, killers and perks.
Most people agree on certain things like "Hillbilly should use BBQ" or "Demogorgon is a fun killer to play against".
They don't have to be killer related, that's just what came to mind.
So, what are your unpopular opinions?
Indont know how unpopular its is but, keys and moris should be reworked to where moris only work on death hook and should give you a flat amount of bp like ~5k ish or something, and keys should be made to only be able to use their add ons and then increase the duration of all of them, and not be able to open hatch (to anybody that might think "then what's the point of them being keys" idc what it is make a it dildo for all I care) I just hate items that allow people to skip doing their objectives.

Perk would be: If the killer is within X meters of a hooked survivor, you progress gens twice as fast.
Dude just ######### run kindred then you know if they're camping and you can just do gens. The only reason people do this is because people try and save and end up just handing the killer a win.

I want to start off by writing I don't believe these perks are broken in any way, what I want to get on about is potential changes for these perks.
Starting off with Barbecue and Chili, this perk pretty much always has a reserved spot in a Killer's loadout and has for three years since Leatherface came out. At this point, it seems like it limits a Killer to just three perks to play around with. The change I believe this perk could use is to make the Bloodpoint stacking part of the perk baseline instead of being the main reason this perk is taken. Don't get me the wrong, the aura reading is still very strong but it gives more potential for another perk to be chosen.
We're Gonna Live Forever I believe needs a slight rework too. I see two ways to down this path, one aligning similarly to the BBQ change (to make this perk baseline and do something else), and the other to give you stacks in a different manner. The first idea is something I can't really think of, as this perk is more of a one affect deal, where BBQ is a two parter.
The second idea is in line with making your stacks more available. Even if BBQ weren't to be changed it's rare a Killer doesn't get 4 stacks by the end of the match, whereas with We're Gonna Live Forever you have to rely on two things - the Killer actually getting a hook, as well as another Survivor not saving allowing you to. To counter act this you can just take a hit instead, but at the same time your injured teammate may not be in a spot for you to take a hit (they could be vaulting, you could be on the other side of the map), or also praying to god these broken hitboxes hit you and not said injured teammate.
What do you guys think?
They touch BBQ I riot as I think it's perfect where it is. It's not op at all but it does have heavy incentives to use it that dont effect the actual games themselves just how fast you get BP and the auras is just a really nice bonus. They'd have to make the BP part of the perk inherent to all killers for me to not care if they rework BBQ.

There would be ZERO reason to play on anything other than the highest FOV. Hiding from the killer is a core mechanic in the game which just gets tossed out the window if they can SEE BETTER. Anyone that uses Shadowborn regularly would know that you can see and find survivors much MUCH easier than without it.
I get that maybe the FOV makes you motion sick. That sucks. But unlike other games it needs to be this way for balance reasons. Balance is more important than accessibility. Sorry but that's how it is.
I do use shadow born regularly it doesn help you spot people much better it can help you track people slightly better like it makes it a little bit harder to spin me that's really it.

I don't think anybody buys better equipment just for DbD, that's not the point.
Also i joined this debate for the strechted res topic.
This makes the game looking worse, not better or "full extent of the product", like you mentioned.
1. I'm not saying people buy better equipment for dbd alone but I know many who bought better equipment to run all games better, and rather disappointed or annoyed when a game doesnt support it.
2. Then should be people be penalized for having a 4:3 monitor which is what people use for the stretched res I believe? Or they run in lower resolutions to allow the game to run better because they have worse equipment.

It's still an unfair advantage against people who play the game how it's intended. But that's not your fault, even if you would agree.
People need rules. And as long BHVR doesn't set these rules clearly, people will continue abusing it.
I mean I guess but should people not be able to utilize the full extent of the products they bought. Having better equipment is always gonna be a slight advantage like having a better headset or a better mouse and keyboard, is that considered cheating?

The advantage you get from more FoV in DBD is significantly greater than the advantage you get from more FoV in a traditional FPS.
Thus in an FPS the benefits are small enough that no one cares.
Whereas in DBD it means the difference between sneaking past the Killer no problem and being spotted and killed. The simple fact that it's a stealth game makes the FoV an important mechanic where it would otherwise be trivial.
That's kind of debatable tbh if I were to use dbd's FOV in other fps I'd be constantly getting shot from outside of my view, take siege for example you pretty often have to watch multiple angles which would be impossible to do in some scenarios without having a higher FOV. However some people who like to go for distance shots will have lower FOV cause it makes spawnpeaking at certain maps a little easier. Options are nice.

All i see are excuses. Nobody needs more then 1080p/60fps, esp. in DbD.
If crossplay will be a thing, they need to make sure editing the gamefiles is forbidden first.
You dont need to but it's really nice to go above 60, 144 frames is ######### addicting and although I dont have a higher then 1080p monitor people pay a lot to get the monitors that can and they should be able to utilize them.

i just had a match and If i didn't save this bill he would've died i saved him and he still died shortly after the killer got stuck in a pallet of course me being kind i helped the killer get free. then after the killer let me go and the game went back to normal. 3 survivors left Jake on a gen (acted like a rank 17) was just working on a gen while i was in struggle and the other was getting killed. in end game chat everyone was angry at me because i "threw the game twice" 1 letting bill die (he was gonna die regardless) and letting the killer free.
These people would rather have the killer be stuck all game so they can win. like really? that's just a walkthrough and no point or fun. whats the point of even being in that match. the game is about 4 survivors and 1 killer not 4 suvivors holding M1 all game
i don't understand why a lot of people are so mean and awful in this game it honestly blows my mind like everyone loses their respect like is it worth being awful to other people over a game? like i know a lot of people don't treat people like that in person, it isn't really different this time they're just behind a screen trying to play a game xD
i know if they were in the killers position they would be mad to be stuck and forced to dc
(i know someone is gonna comment toxic things because they don't "agree" don't bother if you don't think the same)
I would say no being dick does no one any good just let that kind of behavior(pun intended) roll off your back and walk away, they can stay mad.

I just kind-of thought about this today, but we all know Legion isn't the greatest in the 1v1 or the 1v4, and is kind of laughed at most of the time. I was thinking that since the whole point of Legion is to spread damage and get chain-stabs, even if chain-stabbing can be gotten rid of quite quickly with some of the healing perks in the game, I propose a secondary action to be given to Legion:
The Feral Lunge
After stabbing two or more survivors with Feral Frenzy, The Legion can charge up a grabbing lunge for a short duration to grab a survivor
If the survivor is healthy, they will be deep wounded and end the Legion's power, causing a recovery period for the Legion giving the survivor some time to get distance, this Deep Wound would take a little longer to mend than normal deep wounds caused by Frenzy, taking around an additional 5 seconds to mend.
If the survivor is injured, they will be downed and immediately put onto the killer's shoulder once the grab attack animation finishes, this will immediately end and drain the legion's power.
If the Legion misses the Feral Lunge, they will literally faceplant onto the floor, replacing the 4 second fatigue cooldown as they pick themselves off the ground, losing distance and time, additionally, if the Legion runs into a wall while they Feral Lunge, they will slam into the wall and take time to recover, again replacing the 4 second fatigue, these recoveries would be affected by Cold Dirt and Joey's Mix Tapes, as they would also take 4 seconds to recover from.
The Legion CANNOT cancel Feral Lunge, giving the survivor an opportunity to Locker, Pallet, or Window Juke if available, and CANNOT be carried over into different Frenzies, the Feral Lunge MUST be done in the same Frenzy it was activated in, as to create a better incentive to go for chainstabs, and potentially end chases with the final chainstab sooner, creating some pressure and actually making Legion feel 'Feral'
The main inspiration for this secondary action was the Legion's trailer where Frank grabbed David King and stabbed David. Any feedback is welcome and I hope this was an interesting idea.
I think it's a cool idea but I think it's too much effort on the devs part to ever be implemented, since this would require a whole new animation for both legion and every survivor and possibly a rework to their add ons as well. You could short cut the animations by just making it so the feral lounge just downs them though, but that would still be a new animation for legion, also let's be honest it would probably be buggy as hell.

Ive been seeing many people on the forums discussing ds being confirmed not to be anti tunnel and just have to say. OK? Ds not being anti tunnel doesnt address any of the problems the perk has when it comes to its imbalance of lockers and gens. A survivor can hop into a locker with ds, head on, and inner strength and end your career. If enduring still counted for all of these stuns I would be perfectly fine with this. I'm not trying to get a nerf to ds. It's great for solo players who get terrorized in this game. I'm just saying something as simple as giving enduring a slight effect on it would even out the playing field alot more. that way both sides would be happy with the change. That way survivors can keep their perk and killers aren't hit with 2 huge stuns in a row.
Edit thanks to @Kebek if it weren't for this comment I would've never made this post.
I'd be fine with this, I am a killer main though, also i dont think DS itself is that bad my bigger issue is with how many second chance perks survivors have and when they're stacked together they just feel so cheap. They made a point of when they nerfed ruin that they changed ruin into what it is today because they didnt want it to stack with other killer slowdown perks like pop, so why shouldnt survivor perks get the same treatment.

I have an idea for a killer that's a car. Running survivors over to injure them is too similar to Billy, so I thought instead it's a type of killer that can transfer and hinder survivors. My idea is that while it does have to drive and hit survivors, instead when it hits them they're forced inside the car and are forced to complete complicated skill checks to unlock the car door and escape. If they don't do it in time, the car can drive into walls (only certain walls) and down the survivor inside. For hooking the survivor, I can imagine the hook itself shooting at the survivor and pulling them up to hook them. I know it sounds silly, but I think a car killer could work.
What do you mean that's just billy. As a billy main pedestrians constantly running in front of my vehicle is the worst.

Hello, I know this has come up a lot. But I have seen so many ebony mori’s as a survivor lately it is driving me up a wall.
I know some people like to equate keys to mori’s and to an extent yes. A killer can Mori someone once they have been hooked. In some cases that's as soon as the first minute of a match. Just think about that for a second.
For a key you need the hatch to spawn, which is impossible to do in the beginning of the match. If all 4 are alive you need all gens to be done, 3 alive you need 4 gens etc. A survivor can't just escape in the first few minutes as a killer can just Mori half the team.
As a killer I don't mind keys. That specific survivor has to last the match for the key to be used and I do alright as killer. Sure it can be frustrating when 3 survivors get out when I could have gotten them but I barely see keys.
As a survivor lately it has been almost every 3 matches has a Mori and 1 in 5 it feels like is an ebony Mori. I hate Mori's as a killer. I will bring one very rarely when I get sh*t on by survivors because rage lol but I despise using them.
Anyways there's my two cents as someone who plays both sides. Thank you.
I agreed that keys aren't as broken as moris but I disagree in that I do believe they are a problem, they both allow you to skip doing your objective, so if you're going to nerf moris, which I think should happen, you have to nerf keys as well.

And just because you don't play this game competitively doesn't mean that everyone plays it casually. The game isn't perfectly balanced, but if every survivor is able to look over every loop, this game would again shift heavily towards survivors, causing a lot of yelling for fairness, causing either a bunch of band aid fixes or heavy map reworks
Stretched re really doesnt do as much as you think it does,
-
I really only use it on killers with ways to get around like billy and demo(I dont play freddy),and sometimes oni but not regularly since with oni i prefer to run something like infectious and monitor and just constantly chasing instead of worrying about kicking a gen.
-
All my builds have whispers and BBQ cant live without em.
Billy- I'll run pop or corrupt, and usually shadowborn because zooming around on him with the way FOV is makes me feel bleh or gives me a headache.
Demo- STBFL is kind of a mandatory on him and then pop usually
Michael- I really like running dark devotion on him or monitor and abuse, and then I'll also run infectious if I'm using monitor.

Favorite is billy followed closely by oni, and the least fun is probably hag and trapper for me. The very defensive style you have to play to get the most out of their kits is just really boring to me.

Apparently the original FOV for killer (which was quite nice actually) had clipping issues..... killers were able to see in lockers without opening them. I still don't understand why bhvr wouldn't fix the clipping and bring back the good FOV. Also they mentioned doing something with the FOV during the stream before patch 2.0 and they still haven't touched on it since.
BHVR takes a long time to do anything but if enough attention is brought to certain issues then they'll tend to speed up on it. The problem is that they have limited resources and are constantly working on the new chapter killer/map/perks/cosmetics and now tomes so they aren't dedicating as much time to bug fixes and old problems like killers who have been really weak for a very long time. Hell it took them 2 years to rework freddy, and took them months to fix Michael's stalking which only just got fixed apparently.

If your the unlucko who gets facecamped theres not much you can do, if they're tunneling after hook run DS and unbreakable and hope your teammates either know to just leave you(sorry bud) and do gens then killers will keep doing this as long survivors keep falling for it. It's usually newer killers who dont know what they're doing and need to learn the lesson, or toxic people who are just doing it cause they know it pisses people off.

Thats less that shadowborn isn't useful, its more that there are more beneficial perks out there. I run shadowborn on killers like huntress, legion and nurse where its important to keep track of the survivors, but on other killers there are just better perks out there.
The benefits shadowborn provide are usually marginal, and good game sense can do its job almost as well
You said it yourself the benefits are usually marginal, I'm aware it would help killers ever so slightly but I'd also say, who cares, it's a quality of life change more then anything. DBD isnt exactly an esports where balance matters heavily, it's more of a party game to have some casual fun, and feeling like poop because of a marginal difference in ease of tracking isnt fun.

@UseTheValve said:
Here's another let's change one fondamental part of the game because I don't like it, you guys realize that the game was balanced around that FOV for both side also why their is some FOV perks?
Its because the devs had something in mind when designing this game about limiting everyone field of view.
Also before you start saying anything my monitor is 21:9 I would greatly and immensely benefits from them allowing more resolution (2560x1080) and higher FOV. I am currently playing with 2 black bar on each side of my screen.
Yeah they tried it and I dont think it was a good idea. BHVR has had many terrible ideas in the past. So hence why I think they should make FOV an adjustable setting like almos every other fps in the world.
-
@IceCreamPrincess said:
Well, the game was designed around the killers tight field of view, as its designed to restrict peripheral vision. It allows survivors to more easily sneak past them or do things like the "window trick"
Shadowborn being a perk is for a reason, having a wider field of view is beneficial in almost every regard, you can see those who think are in your blindspots, vision reducing stuns are mitigated slightly etc. If FOV was a slider in game, very competitive would crank it to max to get any advantage whatsoever
If the lack of FOV makes you feel nauseous or uneasy though, then my heart goes out to you, but you are in a minority
If shadowborn was such a buff then why dont most killers use it, the only people I've heard use it because they're use to having higher FOV from playing a lot of shooters

My bro has a career in coding and he is even making his own little game. According to him, he doesn't understand how they could mess such simple coding up as he put it, 'Its baby code compared to his every day work'. Oh yeah, found a bug today where you cant hear gens looking at certain angles. Was in Purgation and the gen in the temple couldnt be heard even though I was on top of it. Another gen I walked by cause there were no sounds, 20 seconds later with one person, the gen pops up. This game is f#cked.
Sound is especially borked there are too many sound bugs to list, my favorite/most annoying bug is when downed survivors dont make any sounds which is never supposed to happen regardless of if you have iron will or no mither. Those perks aren't supposed to effect downed survivors sound.
