  • I haven't played the Tutorials but I would assume the Entity is the one speaking to them.

The Entity is who you hear when you use Whispers. Does it sound similar to that?
  • I've always liked the idea of the game getting harder for both sides as you Rank up.

Like certain perks being locked out and such
  • Clown moves at 4.6 m/s the same as Trapper and Billy.

@Jeff confirmed it in the official Discord. Clown is NOT slower. Please do not spread misinformation like another user tried to.
  • There is only one right now and it's a Dwight hhead with a Black eye.

You get it for owning the Leatherface DLC. It's not really that good and you can barely tell he has a black eye.

  • You realize impersonating a member of BHVR is probably against some kind of rule right?
  • "shames-demise" is technically not my account but latch onto the dream for all it's worth.

    actually, it is but....long story.
It's against Steam Policy to give your password to someone else.

Your friend should have his account locked down and banned for breaking TOS and allowing his ragequitting friend to play on his account.

You are literally a terrible survivor. Tunneling isnt a rule, it's made up nonsense by Survivors like yourself who instead of admitting you're ######### at the game, you shame the killer.

    Hilarious
  • Don't worry. The tournament will just be a shitshow and reaffirm just how bad the balance truly is.

Good. Perhaps they will see this tourney and realize how ######### the balance is. That's what I'm hoping for.
  • The Killers are immortal and are unable to be damaged, but they can still feel pain.

It get really irritating after bit. Too many random notifications that don't really help a lot unless you are already pretty close. It doesn't even tirgger all that reliably for something that only gives a general location. Whispers, funnily enough, is way more consistent.

Agreed, since half the time you get nonsense noises that sound like whispers and other times the crows randomly make noises when nothings around.

He's not asking if it's efficient, he's asking if it's fun. I'm sure he knows Whispers is better.

Even if it activates on the other side of the map, it lets you know someone is there. You can have better positioning based on the survivors general locations.
  • It can be interesting. No one really expects it nowadays so it could be a nice little tricky thing to throw at the Survivors.

I wouldn't say it's the best tracking perk in the game, but most survivors just sprint around now. Spies might have a lot of usage for you in today's meta.
  • They have already expressed interest in new game modes. However, the main argument is that it would split the community. Do people not think more options would bring in more players?

I would like a Solo only mode for Rankings. The devs also said they like the ideas of things like Perkless modes.
  • Right now it's Stake Out.

Stake Out makes it so I do not need to focus as much for Skillchecks and incentivizes me to play stealthily. It also is a great counter to Hex: Ruin, as landing Good Skill checks will still count as hitting the Great for Ruin.

Likewise, it does good against anti-skillcheck and gen stopper builds in general.
  • Tapp is cool for his perks, specifically Stake Out is a solid perk that counters Ruin extremely well.

As for which one you should main, there aren't enough Aces and Ace is a slick guy. Play him.

Quentin just looks like a meth head.

  • When you go to your page, look for what looks like a person icon or something like that. That's the settings option!

    Pretty much only 1 thing.

Getting camped out as the first on hook with no gens done. I get it, strategy and snowball and whatnot.

Just dont get mad when I call your strategy and tactics trash.

As a killer main....actually this depends on how fast you were hooked at the start of the game.

Here's the mentality. If a killer hooks a player within the first...say 2 minutes of the game. The killer saves a TON of time by camping a player caught that early as opposed to the progress on gens that player might otherwise make if they are rescued as well as the time it takes to hook them 2 more times.

Sucks yes, but weight the 2 and it's easy to see which is the fastest overall.

It only takes 3 minutes to do the gens. If you gun down one guy, let's say that takes a minute. It takes 2 minutes to die on hook.

You choose to camp him and the others realize it or its SWF, the other 3 can rush down the gens and have them all done and the gates likely opened before their buddy is fully sacrificed.

This is only a good strategy if the Survivors are stupid.
  • Pretty much only 1 thing.

Getting camped out as the first on hook with no gens done. I get it, strategy and snowball and whatnot.

Just dont get mad when I call your strategy and tactics trash.

  • Lemme ask you a simple question.

Can you reach your arm through an open window?

If the answer is no, you may have no arms.

  • I was going to suggest this but you beat me to it.

I agree. You should get shards based on your Rank when the Season resets. Just makes sense.
  • PC players also got alot more than the console players..lol..
They got the old dude..we only got his perks which im not complaining about...
but they also go that legendary that console players never got..they got far more cosmetics(80s suitcase, blood stained sack, left behind, charity case) than the console players got..so I think that the console players paying more and getting less stuff (even tho they got doctor hag and huntress free) i think its a pretty good trade off. lol

The Legacy was because the old bloodwebs were bullshit.

And cosmetics arent gameplay. Clown is gameplay. Bill didnt come because of Valve.

Console should have to pay for Clown. You paid more for Doctor and Hag. That's it.
  • Clown is not free.

Doctor and Hag were only free because you pay for more content on the Console version. It's 30 bucks as opposed to the PC 20 I believe.

It included all the non licensed DLC to that point. You will have to buy him.

  • I feel he's in a a decent spot. Played a match with him last night and he felt pretty good to me.

He requires his own skillset different from the Huntress or Doctor and does a good job of one thing: Corraling the Survivors.

He's perfect for area denial and crowd control.

  • Yeah I got 4 Iri's as Killer and only got like 18 or 20.

    It's far too low.

  • He clearly stops holding W. You can see with the last clip he continues to follow through with Trapper, and on the right he lets go of W to abruptly stop.

  • I also think it should have some kind of wiggle bonus. Surprised it doesn't.

  • Trapper needs serious love </3

Nothing has changed about enjoyability in one small but oh so important area: Disconnects.
They are rampant, they are common, they are frequent & they do not go unpunished cause...well, just that, they don't get punished.

This is the average of what happened to me today...

Lobbies get filled with Survivors who either have blood, are in SWF or both, and a few Survivors without either.
Guess who don't disconnect? The Survivors without either blood or SWF.

Players are supposed to have fun, no? Where's the fun that i'm supposed to have in this? "Oops, i failed. Better DC from that Hook/Mori."

Oh yeah, side-note: Remove the ability for Survivors to quit out during Mori animations while also making it impossible to interrupt the Mori animation as Killer. It's only a few seconds, they can spare those. And yes, i realize they can still pull the plug, but that's kinda unsolvable, so at least do that. Then make it so the Killer can't stop the Mori so they can't spam the beginning animation.

I remember the developers saying they mostly want the game to be fun.
That's great and all, but what's not enjoyable about the game will stand out. And this stands out greatly to me, and for longer than just today.

I'm guessing since you are level 2 that you only played a couple of games. Play more games before you make a post like this.

    Wait, are you serious?

LOL THE ACCOUNT LEVELS JUST CAME OUT.

Do you not see he's using a full stack of perks? Are you. Like?

    Nevermind... astounding lol

If you bought it, that shows them as a company you were willing to buy it despite the insane pricing.

That will solve nothing and is counter productive. You simply shouldn't have bought the cosmetics.

Yeah, but they can not hype me an entire month, showing me something that I died for play with, waiting for this day like if was my son's birthday & don't do it. I hope they resolve this.

The fact you flip out and get this hyped over cosmetics instead of actual gameplay and stuff is exactly why companies do the things they do like unfair pricing.

You can not buy it. It's called willpower. Companies prey on people like you, I'm gonna be 100% honest. It isn't your fault or anything, it's the sleazy tactics made by these companies that go right after people and their desires.

Dont fall for it. Stop giving these people your money. They will not change a thing if you give them money.

  • I like to think of it like you're trying to connect two particular wires together or something like that. Failing it results in an electrical explosion, so it has to be something like what we see in the opening cutscene of the game.

  • @onark said:
Well, due the silence from developers, I just spend 70€ in cosmetics (plus the DLC) instead of the 50€ planned. Good marketing job, but I'm not a happy customer 8(

If you could save up your shards for every outfit and would not need the auric cells for some outfits, it would be ok for me. But to make some outfits only available for auric cells so we need to put more money into the game is disgusting in my opinion.
They could have given us some sort of "start-budget" like it is done in many other games.
I am very angry about that update and I am thinking about quitting DbD.

Agreed. All cosmetics should be earnable.

  • They dont play the Killer side so they continue to play with these false notions and made up rules.

Plus mob mentality. It's much easier to feel like a hard ass when you have 3 of your buddies backing you up.

  • Trapper, if he was more deadly, would be a great flagship Killer and badass symbol of the game.

However, because of how weak his is, badassness has to go to Doctor. He's also weak, but he's just too damn fun and hilarious.

  • Technically it IS a horror game, but currently it is probably the least serious and most trolly thing in the "horror" genre.

  • Doctor is actually super easy to win against and honestly, if you have trouble against him.

    Play as him.

  • I'm a survivor main.

Looping is a blight on this game and makes the Killer an absolute joke. They need to remove it to make the Killer a serious threat again.

If Hide or Die manages to do this well, it could be bad for DbD. We'll see during Beta.

As a solo survivor, I prefer the whole "4 stranger trapped in a super spookie realm," considered that's how the game was marketed and is still marketed on the steam page, therefore changing the game entirely to orient for teamplay would not only require overhauling the game to the point where it would be something else (COUGH Deathgarden) but it would also kill the game for true solo survivors like me.

Nurses in panda masks. The game and community is a memefest and the spookiness is only there for the greenest of players.

I dont WANT communication. I want the game to stay true to the balance it was created for, solo survivors.

The devs made (or should have) that decision when they introduced SWF. You can't have an option for coordinated teams and then say "oh but it's balanced for a ragtag un-coordinated group!" it's one way or the other. Trying to have both is insanity.

I don't care about Nurses in panda masks. You are arguing a completely different point. I'm not arguing from "immersion," I'm arguing from actual game balance. I can be scared of a good Nurse in a panda mask, that is irrelevant to me. Just because you subjectively don't like some of the cosmetics doesn't suddenly mean you can objectively completely overhaul the game.

The devs didn't initially WANT to put in SWF, but because people whined and review bombed because of the aforementioned lack of reading the Steam store description, they shoved it into the game without balancing it because it would have killed the game otherwise.

You CAN have both. It's called having two different modes. A ranked and a casual, plenty of games have at LEAST 2 different game modes no matter their playercount. This would literally solve the problem and I don't understand why the community nor the devs can understand this. If Killers would refuse to play Casual mode, THEN THAT JUST PROVES SWF IS BROKEN. IT NEEDS TO BE BALANCED SEPARATELY AS ITS OWN MODE.

@weirdkid5 the law has about 30 days before it takes effect, though. So having Redshell right now is not against the law, and they are removing it with 2.0.0 to meet that 30 day deadline.

Doesn't mean that they are doing it "because they care about us." They are doing it because they literally have to lmao

  • It was already nerfed once before.

It's fine now. Watch behind you and dodge the hatchets. If you let the Huntress get super close to you, that's on you.

  • @Noodle said:
None of this matters anymore, Redshell will be removed on the next patch, BHVR has already released an official statement on the matter. We don't need the spam threads anymore. It's done, it's over, let it die.

  • Not one thread .. BUT TWO! TWO OF THEM!?!?!?!?
My god, you guys need to do your research. I won't link it for you this time, I am requesting that you actually look it up yourself. In your searchbar, type something like "Redshell - gamers" or "what is redshell used for."
This program simply gives BHVR feedback on the best ways to advertise DbD, so that people buying the game in the future know what DbD is and do not buy it thinking it is the new COD 7 or World of Warcraft 5.

What part of "violates EU law" dont you get? Lol

I dont care if they were to buff the Killer in response. It wouldn't be Dead by Daylight anymore. It would be a game that lost its vision because people dont know how to read a store description.

@weirdkid5 i know i know, i just thought maybe if i added a shred of positivity... i’m just not a fan of the arguing over pointless things. i guess it does show the community is passionate though

Some of it is just plain trolling once someone goes apeshit so to speak. As someone else I think @weirdkid5 might be the one that both sides have their biases. Some are so ingrained the game could be balanced and they'd still argue at each other.

Indeed both sides have their biases. I dont expect the Killers that think they should 4k every time to be taken seriously just like I dont expect the Survivors that think they should escape every time to be taken seriously.

However, to simply act (not talking to you specifically @powerbats) as if the game is balanced is just being willfully ignorant. People forget we need both sides for this game to continue to exist. And sometimes, one side has to acknowledge that perhaps something they have is just a little too powerful or weak etc. For both sides.
  • They do not. You have to actually sacrifice the survivor. If they DC, they cheated you.
  • Welcome to the DbD community.

You know... in every game there is the top player or team, that regardless of balance, steamrolls everyone because they are basically the best... what if Marths team is that status, what if they simply can’t be best easy, because they are just really good at the game, and the killers they went against weren’t as good. Some killers beat em, that means it’s not completely controlled by the survivors. Not saying the game is balanced, but just food for thought.

Marths Squad isnt the beat. That's the issue. I'm objectively better at Survivor than Marth is.

That's the point, and one of their main points. They ARENT the best, yet they can steamroll nearly EVERY killer.

By your logic, the best killers shoulda have been able to steamroll them regardless. First of all, no Killer outright "steamrolled" them, and secondly, if the best should defeat those they are better than, then what does that say for when you have people with equal skill? In a game like DbD where the balance is entirely up to Survivor mistakes, there is no balance.

Just because a couple of the top Killers beat them doesnt suddenly mean that "oh they were just a great squad of survivors." No, they arent. They just hold M1 and run in circles.

    Really skillful play here.
