Yeah let's just create another nurse with no counterplay or anything, great ideas in this thread.. let's make MORE survivor perks useless.

One Killer being immune to them doesn't make them useless.

Way to create a false narrative.

Recall that Ruin and BBQ are pretty much the only worthwhile Killer perks.

I really like dbd devs, i think they are one of the best honstly

i know theres an endless bugs and need some balance here and there

(which i think they just need more people in their team) but overall i really like what they are giving us

ideas of killers, too many perks, new content every 3 months for such a simple game, thats not easy

killers just needs to calm down and remeber 2-3 kills isnt bad at all!

Way to throw all the Survivors who don't think the game is balanced under the bus (aka ME)

  • So I see 4 man SWF with 3 Blendettes. 2 flashlights & 2 Toolboxes and the other was Ash so I'm knowing this will be toxic.

Within 10 meters, LMAO. And only if the survivor wiggles free. What a great ######### change. Too bad it sucks.

This is supposed to cover situations where you sabo a hook to 99% and then disarm it right in front of the Killer, wasting his time and allowing a wiggle.

Do you even know how to sabo properly?

  • I mean basically. I haven't dropped money on this game for cosmetics at all just because the balance is poo poo

I agree with OoO not working but I believe Spine Chill and premonition should still function, these don't pinpoint his location.

It just gives a general direction of where he might be.

Uh, Premonition is meant to tell you which direction they come from lol it only activates when you LOOK in the direction of the Killer

  • His power is still fully countered by detection perks. You can so is every other stealth killer but there is a catch.

    100% agree

    Exactly.

If Billy had been designed today he’d probably have a fuel meter and would probably need to find gas tanks around the map in order to keep using the chainsaw.

Please don't give them any ideas.

Ok. Now I see what kind of people you are also in the game.

Sorry that you couldn't find an echo chamber. Stop letting your emotions rise when playing this game.

Taken from the Steam Store Page:

    "Key Features

    • Survive Together… Or Not - Survivors can either cooperate with the others or be selfish. Your chance of survival will vary depending on whether you work together as a team or if you go at it alone. Will you be able to outwit the Killer and escape their Killing Ground?"

    Sorry you don't like this.

I'm working on getting the perk right now. I think it will be very helpful for basement rescues.

And Lord knows survivors love getting trapped in the basement.

The 3 second stun you get isn't going to be enough to stop the Killer from grabbing you if you try to save them, unless you are using something that makes altruistic actions faster.

  • @ShamefulKing said:

I play Doctor a lot and do use the 3 gen strat if I get to that point BUT I do chase survivors. The game has to end some way or another, so what you originally mentioned is definitely just keeping the game hostage. I would rather get points for chasing a survivor while the last gen is being done rather than have a half hour long game and survivors dcing.

Except it shouldn't be considered holding the game hostage by focusing the primary objective, which is generator defense.

Unless now Survivors want to swing the goal post again and say "But the Killer's goal is to kill."

Correct. But he can't kill if the gens get completed. Thus, why focusing the gens is primary objective in this situation.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

There is a huge difference between a 3 gen strat and using that option to grief other players.

If anyone thinks in the whole 25 minutes of this going on it is ok then they must also have been ok with survivors that refused to leave wanting to get totems, those who used to stay behind to sabo when you got points, just staying in the game in general as you know it's fun to stealth around.

Everything has been fixed in the above and for a reason, this game lasted over 30 minutes, in all honesty how can anyone defend this and say its a strat when there were 2 people injured and the doc wouldn't even chase, down and hook one.

They could have easily done it and went back to the gens and stopped one of the survivors and at the most one maybe would have escaped.

You can't ask for things to be fair and want people banned for things and then defend scummy behaviour such as this.

No matter what anyone says it is holding the game hostage as they chose not to comit to a chase and hook, just like the old hatch scenario when a survivor could be banned for holding it hostage as they chose not to do a gen while the killer was at the hatch.

Incorrect. If you commit too much to a chase they will complete gens. Them pulling you away from the gen is an obvious bait to distract you.

So the Killer should just say screw it and let them complete the gen is what you're saying? "Maybe one of the survivors would have escaped. They could have done it." That isn't guaranteed. The Killer's goal is to prevent the Survivors from escaping. This is exactly what Survivors used to tell Killers that keep chasing loopers.

"Just break the chase." Now you WANT him to keep chasing you? Survivors contradict themselves so much.

This is exactly why this shouldn't be bannable.

EXACTLY! Why do infinite's even exist? Is it like a cop out for the map design or something?

I don't get it, why do we need 10+ safe pallets per map, why do infinites need to be a thing, why, why, oh why.

    Pallets aren't infinites.

Infinites were back before Window Entity blockers. Survivors could very easily abuse multiple windows and the Killer legit could never do anything about it.

Also you know all the windows that are randomly boarded up sometimes? Yeah, none of that.

I agree pallets are annoying. But they are NOT infinites.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/437895713

    it starts about min 20.

As mentioned above: The Killer is downing and hooking survivors during the entire match. He is just not committing to chases that could make him loose the pressure on the 3 gens. Is this an unenjoyable "playstyle"? Definitely! Should this mechanic and scenario be looked into in general? Absolutely! BUT: The Killers goal is to prevent Survivors from escaping (its even in the game describtion on steam ffs) and there is no timer to reach the individual goal for both sides (besides EGC for post 5 Gen). Its not the survivor to decide which chases the killer has to commit to or not. I'm calling BS if the guy actually did get banned. And how did the ban process work here? certain people just cry loud enough, message a Buddy CM and poof the inconvinience is gone?

Man this is just sad to watch.

    What an actual joke.

  • No.

In fact she's the only Killer in this game that is timeless.

  • @jimmy5577 said:

This whole conversation is a red herring as the killer in question was actually downing and hooking people in the background while the streamer was alt tabbed trying to get in touch with a developer buddy to get him banned.

There were 3 survivors up and three gens to do. Even against doc, if he's not willing to kill you, you can just sit there and do the gens and there is nothing he can do about it. You'll get it done eventually. Or you could just follow him around and let him kill you. If he won't, then sure, he is just trying to draw the game out.

The streamer in question actively avoided the killer, looped him, saved other survivors from dying, unhooked people, in between trying to find someone to ban him "because he was just standing still and not chasing".

This is after intentionally depipping in order to bully bad killers like this guy.

    Oh and the drama starts.

Can we please get a link to the match in question?

This is interesting because we've been told now that these stats are heavily flawed, yet when the community tells them certain killers are weak they say those same stats (that they admit are heavily flawed) show otherwise...

There is a lot of contradiction going on with this.

I also noticed this. Good point out.

  • @FireHazard said:

Its odd how people don't view it this way. Most people (older players) just think the games fine cause in 2016 you could break hooks forever, iron grasp and Agitation was the meta, and you could 99% gens.

Yes, the past was worse than now... That doesn't justify the bad design choices of today though.

Exactly. I played since Day 1.

Just cause infinites are gone doesn't mean the game is currently balanced.

Besides, whenever someone uses infinites as an example of a "nerf" to Survivors, is always makes me ######### myself.

You can't nerf something that never should have existed.

  • Agreed. You don't need to completely rework a character to make them viable. Just a few number adjustments can make a huge difference, and can easily be reverted in a hotfix if it is deemed overpowered.

  • It's spineless Survivors. Happened to me the other day. The only thing you can try to do is break the chase and go full stealth mode and try to do the gens yourself.

You're essentially playing just a 1v1 when this happens. It's pretty brutal.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/521350#Comment_521350

There's a huge issues with the first one: That is going to massively skew the stats. People aren't going to disconnect if they doing well, but as we all know, there are many people who will disconnect the instant they go down. If you exclude matches where anybody disconnects, you're excluding matches where someone does poorly and rage quits and only focusing on ones where the survivors do well.

We can only do so much when providing stats, and any time you exclude things the stats get more skewed. This is why we give general stats rather than picking and choosing what to include. This is why we recommend not drawing any conclusions based on stats alone.

The other two we could possibly look into if we release stats again, though.

Thank you, I greatly appreciate that.

As I've said for years, I think the Pip Up rate will be the most accurate in determining whether or not the game is somewhat balanced, as dying doesn't really mean anything when you still get a Pip in my eyes, you still "won" in terms of Ranking, know what I'm saying?

I definitely can see how taking out DCs can still skew it, it crossed my mind after I made the post. At least from my experiences with the game, however, including them skews it MORE. I think showing both of them side by side would allow a little bit of comparison, wouldn't you agree?

I appreciate you considering these parameters @Peanits

I play on ps4 so I can only speak for I play, but I am fairly confident something is off with the matchmaking.

Since Friday the 7th it has been like this, ranks all over the place.

This is true for both survivors and killers, PLUS the process of creating a lobby is now different: rather than starting a lobby and get an insta lobby where you would wait for survivors; now the lobby takes 2-3 mins to be created and you get survivors right away

Hmm, that does sound like a dedicated server set up.

  • @Poweas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/521340#Comment_521340

@weirdkid5 idk, I can't flick without addons. It's shameful but true. But then again, I'm a very average Billy. You probably know better. But I know for a fact, if a survivor knows how to 180 his flick, he's pretty much lost all his looping counterplay potential. No matter how good the Billy are.

But, addons make it very easy to flick and antiloop.

The base flick is very good. You can pretty much 90 degree turn if you time it so that you turn the MOMENT you charge. This nullifies 180s if you are distanced properly and make the right guess.

Also, I use Q and E to turn during my chainsaw charges, not the mouse. That way I get the maximum possible rotation every time.

  • Here's what we wanna see @Peanits

    1. Kill rates in games without any DCs. An early DC often leads to a snowball game, or Survivors giving up. These games should NOT count at all.

    2. Kills that occur after an exit gate has been opened, including EGC kills.

    3. Survivor Pip Up Rate in regards to whether a Survivor is killed and still Pips up, or manages to escape and still fails to Pip.

  • @Poweas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/521322#Comment_521322

@weirdkid5 I'm talking about without addons obviously. With addons he works well.

I'm speaking without addons. A good Billy doesn't necessarily need his addons. It makes his quality of life much more tolerable though.

  • @Judith said:

Your situation doesn't excuse bming tho. It happens whether you admit it or not. And it is obvious. In your case it isn't.

Killers do bm. Get over it.

BM can be used as a legit strategy to get under the skin of your opponent and cause mistakes. It's up to the player to resist the urge to blow up and get angry imo. This is why teabagging doesnt bother me, but it still triggers an unconcious desire for me to camp the ######### out of you lol

Fighting games tournaments for example allow BM, like spamming, taunting, and teabagging, all as ways to mentally manipulate your opponent. After all, a game can be seen as some kind of battle. The only requirement is that the rules of the game be adhered to. Do they stop players from teabagging in FGC tournaments, no not at all. Do some people walk away angry as hell? Of course they do. But the majority understand this concept and will often shake hands even in the face of ultimate salt.

Now talking smack post game about anything that isn't the game isn't appropriate.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/521305#Comment_521305

I am not sure this is true, this ONLY happened during the test of the new matchmaking which was then retired.

You could be right if this was happening once in a while but it was most of my matches since Friday.

Unless ps4 players dropped in a week I am sure this is a new test or something

Are they testing on all consoles or just PC?

And high Survivor ranks typically have long wait times. He could have been waiting for over 3+ minutes, which opens his game up to pretty much any Rank.

  • @Poweas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/521243#Comment_521243

@Orion he's survivor dependant too, good survivors will see through his tricks and spin his curves. So he's only got speed on his side at base. With addons like instasaw or extra speed, it's a different story.

Turning early and giving away which way you plan to go is obvious as hell.

If you are actually trying to saw from distance, it's best to do it around 6-10 meters. This allows you to use your early turn bonus to catch a survivor's juke, but you pretty much need to 50/50 guess which direction they will juke towards. A good read can put you in a very optimal position.

  • @malloymk said:

Both sides are just as toxic. There are 4 times as many survivors as killers. Killers DC, killers can hold the game hostage (down a survivor and stand over them until they bleed out), do things like nod, swing at the hooked survivor (i chuckle at these, but just as toxic as bagging), they can close the hatch and force the survivor to run out the timer (more points for me, but still a time waster). Killers message survivors post match as well.

I had a Billy spawn face to face with me. He instadowned me and face camped. Then messaged me after. The amount of DC'ing killers do just as survivors are about to run out of the gate is annoying. Almost a nightly occurrence.

Again, you can definitely come up with a list just as long for survivors as well, but I have to chuckle whem players say killers aren't as toxic.

Slugging isn't holding the game hostage. You're gonna die, the game is gonna end.

It's just annoying and wastes your time.

Red ranks facing yellow ranks, and no SWF I asked, they simply said they queued solo and ended up in my lobby

    @Peanits

    Working as intended actually.

If you can't find anyone, the matchmaking will extend to other Ranks to find you a match faster.

I'm sure the Red Rank dude wasn't too thrilled either. He was probably waiting a lot longer than you honestly.

  • @Orion said:

Well, no, being a survivor doesn't mean you're more toxic, just like being a killer doesn't mean you're less toxic. Statistics don't allow you to determine what individuals are like, that's not how they work.

What people are giving you is their personal experience and which side they think has the most toxic players, because that's what you asked. Toxic individuals are a whole different story, but even then, I stand by my statement. Killers might BM in a trial, but only survivors have threatened the lives of my family and children (not that I have any children, but that's beside the point), and so on.

I remember a guy threatened to meet me in real life to beat me up. Said he was 5'6" and weighed 245 pounds.

I'm 6'4" and weigh 215. He didn't respond after that lol

  • Maybe don't let him down you at the edge of the gate?

You don't need to let him down you to buy time for your team. You can just walk out before he hits you and he'll smack the Entity barrier, wasting time.

    Why is this a thread?

  • @Malkhrim said:

I agree that their stats are flawed, but for other reasons.

Specially one, I must say: they show individual Survival Rate per Rank, most played killers per rank and most used perks per rank, but no other statistic has rank specifications.

And individual survivor rate doesn't say a lot, really. It's your INDIVIDUAL chance to survive a match, but survivors play on teams. Even if your chance to die is high, it might be a match where only you die and all the other 3 escape. Killer's kill rate tells a lot more, because it is about how many got killed and how many escaped.

But look, they don't show kill rates per rank, only per platform:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/61114/

So, it's the average on all ranks. What are we supposed to get from this, since there are BIG differences between rank 1-2 and rank 16-20?

I guess they don't show this stats because some killer's kill rates are freaking high on low ranks while freaking low on high ranks. It would show the big balance problems the game still has. Instead, they show inaccurate stats that can be interpreted on different ways so the community keeps arguing over them with two separate sides.

Funny thing is: When the stats from October 2018 had shown survival rate around 40% at high ranks, Mathieu Cote used them to argue the balance was fine. He even dismissed and laughed at a player coment complaining about killers being undepowered, saying "survivals are being killed most of the time".

Of course he didn't say those were only individual stats and didn't say much about who wins and who loses. And of course he didn't use the same logic later or said anything about the stats from April 2019, showing survival rate at 60% at ranks 2-4 and 80% at rank 1.

It reminds me of when they said Self Care only has a 24% usage rating, without mentioning the fact that you can, yknow. Use 4 perks lol.

This meant Self Cares usage rate was actually over 80%.

Their stats are garbage. Sorry to be rude BHVR, but you really don't understand how stats work, and/or you're being facetious as to placate the fact you don't have to take the balance seriously.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/521235#Comment_521235

Nurse, yes. Her base kit is probably the most rewarding to use, since it scales with player skill without any artificial skill ceiling.

Hillbilly, I wouldn't be so sure. I think it'd depend heavily on the map, since without add-ons you need to be very close to get a chainsaw hit during a chase.

This is true, but if you can manage to get a chainsaw hit, it essentially halves your chase time. Not to mention if you get a super early down that can be snowballed very, very easily via camping or baiting the first hooked.

  • @Visionmaker said:

If he's intentionally not killing people and acting to permanently stall the game, then I can see it being considered hostage holding.

You said this was recorded on stream, right? We can see his behavior, so I don't get why people are arguing over this.

We can see it if we actually get a link to the video.

  • @IMhereRUN said:

There are no killers that can’t kill without add-ons, just learn to use them correctly. You can’t put 1 survivor to sleep as Freddy and engage in long loops pursuing 1 survivor...that’s no map pressure. You can’t chase down 1 killer add Legion, use his killer instinct ability. The clown? You can literally follow survivors on every loop and down then easy, his bottles (when used correctly) are the best anti-loop tool, no enduring, brutal strength, bamboozle, or spirit fury needed. Each killer is different, you must play them all differently.

Uhm, Nurse and Billy can very easily 4 man without any addons, or even perks if the Killer is a God.

That is 100% holding hostage, u need to down survivors, slug or hook them to be consider not griefing

if you only hit them once then refuse to chase them and stall the game for 30 min, do ppl really try to defend this???

If you hit them and they are too far away, continuing the chase could result in a gen Completion. You could use hitting someone as bait to fool the other survivors into thinking they can complete a gen, and get a cheeky down very quickly.

Isn't that what Survivors used to tell Killers to do to stop genrushing anyway? "Just break the chase and patrol."

As I said, the margin for error on a 3gen strategy is pretty much 0. The smallest error from either side will result in a loss.

  • Hello and thank you for stoping by to listen what i have to say :D.

I'm glad to see some actually data being thrown around rather than just blind assumptions.

It's pretty common knowledge that Survivors can do gens really fast and everything else the Killer does takes forever. That's why they sped up pickup and hook animations. Ultimately the maybe second or so shaved off doesn't always make a difference, mostly because pallets usually allow a Survivor to nullify that time anyway

  • @Tsulan said:

A few months ago we had a survivor streamer with a full SWF squad playing against a doctor.

Doctor played 3 gen strat and they called it taking the game hostage.

Match took 1 hour, during which the killer didn't fail for bait. He didn't let himself drag away but tried to down and hook survivors.

Those survivors held the game as much hostage as the killer did. No one wanted to give in.

In the end, the killer let them do the gens, to end this. But the survivors wouldn't leave. They stayed another 10 minutes at the exit.

Supposedly in certain situations the last 3 gens can all be hit with a single charge of Doctor's power, making it literally impossible to do anything.

In this case I would agree. But I would also like to see this myself because it sounds like a problematic situation.

But your example pretty much shows why this is a fringe case. If he is actually trying to hit people, the game could go on forever, that isn't an issue.

My problem is I'm worried a legitimate player could get banned because of this. It could be several minutes before the opportunity to get a hit even arises.

  • @Fab said:

Billy has nothing in the chase. I know this as I MAIN HIM. You can break pallets, you can rev your saw, you can instantly down them... BUT.... you cannot lob hatchets over to the other side, teleport, stand still and phase, use corrupt purge or even place a bear trap.

With this information, Billy is closer to the bottom.

I main him as well and 100% disagree with your assessment.

  • @TheBean said:

I like how people are so firm in their... NOT and IS arguments.. which is funny.

The Devs stated long ago, eventually the killer has to commit to a chase, and if they don't and stick on the gens... well... A line has to be drawn. Is it fair or not?... If the survivors are giving the Killer a chance to commit and the killer won't take it?

I don't know about everyone else, but that seems like a complete waste of time. Why was the EGC put in place?... Ahhh yes.. to prevent players from stealthing all over the map for 20 plus minutes... However that survivor could be legitimately trying to escape....

A line has to be drawn... Blame the Devs for allow the situation.. sure.. but they too can also draw the line.

Fog Whispers should not be above the rules. They shouldn't be allowed to cross the lines that get drawn by the Developers on everyone else. They want to entertain but they shouldn't really be doing it at the expense of the other players in the match.

It is still completely the Survivors fault.

If he was refusing to hit anyone or chase anyone, then just, keep repairing the gen? Like FORCE him to chase you. If people run away every time he comes close, of course he won't chase.

3 gen requires you to put nearly all your attention on the gens. The MOMENT you let yourself become distracted for longer then 10 seconds, it's already to late.

If he chases you off and just kicks the gen, stay right behind him and immediately repair when he kicks it and moves 5 inches away. He'll either ignore you, giving you progress, or turn around to hit you can chase you off, giving your team time to progress.

As far as madness, you need to be trading off with players out of Tier 3 and focus on gens and distraction. Even if it means taking a grab, doing ANYTHING to get him off of the gen will ensure your victory.

Once again, just because the Survivors lack the forethought and knowledge to defeat this doesnt mean it is OP.

Stop blaming the Killer for your shortcomings people.

  • @holywhitetrash said:

in this scenario 3 genning was not the fault of the survivors, a doctor who is gonna use this strategy picks his 3 gens at the start of the game and completely ignores the rest of them, and since you can't even work a gen while in tier 3 if the doc gets a "good" spawn and refuses to chase then there is nothing you can do about it

It's always the fault of the Survivors. For letting a 3 gen happen.

    Always.

Please do so, noone needs players with such a mentality

Aren't you the guy that complained he lost the ability to see people underneath him via grass movement?

And yet you're not ok with 3 gen? You're ok with a literal exploit, but not someone taking advantage of simply how the game works?

Yeah, you're obviously not actually a competitive player at all.

  • This is NOT bannable.

This is something that was discussed and settled over a year ago on the Steam forums.

This isn't taking the game hostage because the game is still winnable. The Killer's objective can be argued to delay as long as possible.

I tried to say it's killing Survivors, but even people on these forums say it's "delaying the game." Therefore, the Doc is doing his objective.

How do you know he wasn't TRYING to kill? Do you realize how intensive 3 gen needs to be to pull it off effectively, even with Doc? I've beaten 3 gen docs, it's hard but it isn't impossible.

Just because the Survivors are lacking the skill required to defeat it doesn't mean it is a hostage situation.

@Peanits please confirm this, but I'm fairly certain this conversation was settled over a year ago. If we seriously are back on this conversation, it needs to be handled posthaste. Last thing we need is people clamoring to get Doc nerfed and banned cause of 3 gens. AGAIN
