Are you like, on a personal crusade against this person now? If they e been such an ass just let it go. You're turning this thread into a high school hallway and its sad.
He actually necro'd and brought up a post from over a year old, back when I was a much angrier person.
Difference is, when I got angry and people told me I was being emotional, I stepped back from the game, took a break for a long time, and heeded their advice.
Now he's on a personal crusade to "expose" me just because I disagreed with him.
And he's the one who complains about this community being toxic.
Projection always rears its ugly head in these forums.

People just read what this person said to me. And some of his posts like this one below
"This game is still hugely frustrating. You can see towards the end of the video how my screen is shaking, because I'm so angry my hand cannot stay still. These players continue to make playing Killer a living nightmare."
That is all. Hypocrite exposed.
Oh man, you sifted through my post history from OVER A YEAR AGO in order to attempt to try and "expose" me?
That's pretty sad. You've officially gone off the deep end for this discussion. I've learned to reign in my anger, nor do I actually attempt to hide when I do get angry. Regardless, when people told me to stop getting emotional, I heeded their advice and tried to improve myself.
You, however, remain vindictive to try and justify your poor behavior. End this discussion.

Toxic is really only able to be relegated to post game chat.
Any shenanigans in-game is BM, but BM isn't toxicity, as long as it is done within the rules of the game.
Taking the game hostage is obviously toxic

The other possibility is that they're having trouble coding a detection difference and know they won't get it done in time, so now it's "not a glitch and intended to prevent camping". The game is notorious for spaghetti code.
Seems to me like it would take a simple boolean value that states whether true or false if the Survivor is hooked.
It isn't difficult lol

Its not a glitch, its also to limit camping and thoughts on the killer side about when to activate his Power. You will now get the Killer Instinct notification on the hooked/dying survivor, so you will know who spotted you.
Yes

I mean, I think fun should be the number one factor in game development, but viable should be there beside it as well. Fun NOT viable is bad. It needs to be fun AND viable.
Agreed. Fun and viable are equal in terms of importance.

I've been having an issue lately.
We all know the Devs want a 2k on average, right? If so, Killers will have a HUGE issue. Past rank 10, it is near-impossible to pip with a 2k. I have pipped maybe ONCE in like 25 2ks. I can barely pip in red ranks with 4ks, let alone with 2ks.
This is a good point. The devs continue to balance around Kills instead of pips. This is why I asked for them to start showing Pipping statistics.
-
I agree. And their defense of it is laughable.
-
Friendly reminder their stance on GF being revealed by hooked Survivors isn't a bug. That's fully intentional.
-
I just want them to give me back my Legacy I stayed up for nearly 48 hours the last two days to complete, only to have my save file wiped, as your data used to be saved to the CLIENT instead of the server. This made it so when Steam updated, if you were playing DbD, there was a high likelihood your save data would just get deleted. I have a couple ways to prove I had it too.
No other exclusives matter to me.

Overall it's still true that someone with OoO can easily follow you and disrupt you far to easily to leave GF like he is now. If OoO disabled GF's power by just aura reading that would be obviously broken and needed to be adressed immediately.
I think that making him immune to aura reading while Night shroud is active could be enough so that spine chill/premo are still usefull. Loopers don't use these two so I wouldn't mind them countering GF.
Yeah I'm cool with him just being immune to aura reading while in Night Shade mode. Would make sense too given the name

Agreed 1000000%. Wraith's ability being completely negated by a single perk is quite ridiculous.

Well you can kick him out of night shade with OoO whenever you want because you know exactly where he is and what he's doing. A huge part of making his ability work is stealth and it only works when survivors don't know where you are.
Ah true enough. I guess that makes sense.
I took it as the aura reading ITSELF cancels his power.
Makes me rethink a lot of posts I've made recently.

those perks I mentioned have very limited counterplay. u don't always have another place to run to or enough distance to safely drop the pallet. that's besides the point tho. sometimes u gain a disadvantage because of what the opposing side brings to the table. u lose the stealth aspect of wraith, u still gain the movement speed bonus and whatever other benefits ur addons give u, u lose the stealth aspect of pig, u still have your dash (sometimes) at loops and your RBTs. their powers aren't completely shut down as u say. and for the record, the last time I ran object was several months ago. I find other perks more beneficial, without receiving a downside.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/346/GD8UXQ7XJ692.jpg
ALSO my game looks like this, wraith is completely invisible to me so i rly should be running detection perks cuz I'm always getting ambused but i don't, cuz like i said, I find other perks more beneficial (one more note before bed, only 2 perks come to mind that prevent a survivor's aura being read. sole survivor (aka useless) and distortion (limited to 3 times). plus I don't see a perk like that for killersbeing very beneficial).
Good lord, are you running the game on a TI-83 Calculator?
-
So I actually just tested it in KYF, and OoO isn't cancelling the Night Shade mode.
Does it prevent you from stalking but not cancel Night Shade?
Trying to figure out what the complaint is. Everyone was saying it cancels his power, but now that I've tested it, he stays in Night Mode just fine while being looked at with OoO. Or by "cancel" do they mean essentially stay out of his LoS?
Am I missing something?

You're saying that exhaustion perks counter all M1 killers but that isn't true. They are situational and very strong depending on circumstances but they don't have direct impacnt on if your power can be used or not.
As for small game and urban, they also don't directly counter Hag's and Trapper's powers. They give you small edge when you face them but running urban doesn't magicly make you immune to triggering hag's traps so it's not a counter. Same with traps, you can still run into them while in a chase or miss them by accident.
There are many good loopers running OoO on high ranks and it would be nightmare to face them without any power as M1 killer. GF's power doesn't have any other benefit like pig or myers has except stealth and he's fully dependant on survivors not knowing where he is if otherwise he can never use his power. Old sabotage used to fully and permanently disable trapper's traps and they would never came back. That was a counter and it's happening again today with GF and OoO. You won't be able to use your power as long as there is someone constantly harrasing you whenever you want to use it and if they are good at looping you won't be even able to catch them before most of the gens are done.
Imagine if devs added new killer with strong chase power and he would also have side power that causes his terror radius to disable exhaustion perks. Survivors would go freaking crazy since it would be unfair counter to their perks whenever they face him.
He needs some form of protection against OoO or even all other detection perks. He's far to reliant on his power to have it that easily disabled.

you're advocating for detection perks to not detect killers when they would be most useful, you know, the main reason why the very few people who do run detection perks, run them. I see it as bringing the right perk for the right game, such as bringing bamboozle and getting lerys. I find bamboozle to be bs, and even more so on a map like that, but the killer gambled and was rewarded.
And in my opinion, it should be considered taking the wrong perk for the wrong game.
The only reason people don't want this is because it would actually make Stealth Killers really good.
Premonition and Spine Chill have uses outside of stealth Killer counter. Also, Entity forbid you actually pay attention instead of using a perk that does the searching for you.
Entity Forbid you actually use just a modicum of skill, and using your eyes doesn't even require that. Stealth Killers ONLY have their stealth going for them. They should be immune to detection perks so that they can actually utilize their kit to the fullest extent. Your detection perks will still work on them, just not in their stealth modes.
I don't think that's asking too much. This isn't suddenly going to make every stealth Killer Nurse level, or even Billy level. Wraith will still be bad even with this change. And this is because anyone worth their salt doesn't need detection perks against Stealth killers.
Their power should not be nullified by something that literally requires you do to NOTHING

Ohrrly?
Detection perks shouldn't counter stealth survivors. Stealth Survivors should be immune to Detection perks while using their stealth abilities. They are already very weak. This alone would be a very good change.
If I wearing my Blendette leathers and crouching with Urban Evasion, BBQ and Chili shouldn't work on me.
This is hilarious considering the fact Survivors don't have anything to designate themselves as different kinds of Survivors, like Killers do. Your argument is completely pointless as every Survivor is exactly the same in terms of gameplay. They don't have "stealth abilities." A perk is not an ability/power. Survivors do not have powers, otherwise if they did, I would agree with you. Except they don't, so your point is completely moot.
Stealth Killers directly have mechanics that cause them to be stealthy, regardless of their perk selection. Perks the Survivor chooses to take aren't inherent mechanics that make or break playing Survivor.
Also, did you forget that they added a new perk that prevents your Aura from being detected by the Killer? It's called Distortion.
Seriously, do you people actually play the game or do you only watch? Why do people sarcastically repeat something someone they disagreed with said, but with their argument instead? Are you unable to formulate your own sentences and structure?
Oh wait, I get it. You're trying to make me realize how stupid I sound. Well, that might have worked you actually had any argument to stand on.

You people are acting as if the killer knowing your exact location for most of the game isn't a serious drawback.
If there is a Survivor that can survive being the OoO and use it against the killer, kudos to him. Killer. Got outplayed. Deal with it.
If you think OoO is so powerful why don't you play twenty games straight with OoO and tell us how you liked the experience.
He only knows your location when you look at him. You control when he gets that information.
And if you are playing SWF, if they are halfway decent, the only Survivor he's ever going to encounter is the OoO user. Everyone else will get fed his location info and high tail it before he even gets close.
There is a reason this game was initially balanced around solo players and the lack of communication.

It really is a sad state of affairs when you need to let survivors have lots of extra chances and extend a game to rank up as a killer. That is the opposite of skill. Trying to game the system like this also has the adverse effect of ranking up survivors that don't deserve it. For all the effort and time they have put into this Emblem system if I was given a choice to go back to the victory cube system, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If you are a killer and kill 3 or 4 players, you pip. If you are a survivor and you survive, you pip. Simple.
I never thought of this. The Killer pip system being so arbitrary and difficult so as to give Survivors more opportunity to pip themselves.
Just more nonsense really.

Prevalence is a direct indicator of how strong and versatile a perk is. A perk that hardly sees any use is a perk that does not need nerfs.
Why is this an issue now, when Pig and Wraith have both dealt with OoO this entire time?
And why should this perk be trash against most killers, troll at best, and also be ######### against killers it's meant to counter?
It isn't used because there are perks that are vastly more powerful and the stealth Killers are already too weak in the first place. Just because no one runs it, and just because there are stronger perks doesn't stop OoO from being extremely powerful itself. It is. People would just rather use their SC, DS and what have you combo for 2nd chances.
It's always been an issue for me. I've always felt Wraith should be invisible to detection perks while he is in stealth mode, same for Pig while crouched. The entire point of a Stealth killer is to be stealthy so that Survivors have no clue you are approaching them. It's the same exact reason Myers has this aspect in Tier 1 with Spine Chill and Premonition, but it should also be extended to Aura Reading. Either way, this is a strawman argument so I'm gonna end that here.
OoO is far from trash and suggesting it is such is absolutely hilarious honestly. Knowing where the Killer is 80% of the time is an easy win. If you know where he is, you only need to look at him every couple seconds to minimize the risk he sees you. Besides, this perk is GREAT for those that excel in the chase, as it makes the Killer chase you down usually, giving your team a chance to repair. Not to mention the information it provides to a SWF squad.
Detection perks shouldn't counter stealth Killers. Stealth Killers should be IMMUNE to detection perks while using their Stealth abilities. They are already super weak. This alone would be a very good change.
Besides, going back to your silly argument of no one uses it, if no one uses it, then this change will literally do nothing, so you have nothing to complain about.
However, you're going to say it will ruin it for the few that do use it. No, it won't, it'll just make it so that if they face a stealth Killer, the game isnt braindead easy.

A survivor following a trapper around and disarming traps with Small Game isn't countered by Hangman's Trick. A survivor with Small Game could be repairing a nearby generator while keeping an eye on his trap placement.
Lol? "The fact of the matter"? You did not establish that at all.
What counter do you need for people that intentionally reveal themselves? Why not use Rancor? This is the last post I will be entertaining you with.
Either way, Small Game doesn't 100% nullify Trapper, and Hangman's nullifies the effects of it so you can get your traps sooner. Small Game doesn't prevent a Survivor from being forced into a trap you set up that they missed due to Small Game cooldown, or going down a bad path and getting hit.
Actually that was my entire point if you read the post I initially replied. I specified counters for all of the perks you mentioned, and made it a point GF has no counter to OoO. Sorry that you have to have someone literally spell out their point for you, you arent able to infer it from reading. Which is why you started deflecting by saying "you're suggesting people use Hangman's on Trapper?" No, no I never suggested that at all. I'm simply pointing out a possible counter. Stay on target kid.
I doubt this will be the last cause I doubt you'll resist the urge to try and be cheeky again by sarcastically trying to use my own argument against me.
Again, they aren't hard counters because they don't 100% nullify the power like OoO does. If you can't see this, you should reevaluate your knowledge in game design.

Hangman's Trick is never a good idea because almost no one uses Small Game and hardly anyone Sabotages. A survivor focused on harassing Ghost Face with OoO is not doing gens either. Trappers don't run Hangman's Trick. No one runs Hangman's Trick.
I get it, you want to be a contrarian, but can you please listen to yourself?
And Trapper and Hag will end up getting looped too, who both have hard counters.
I don't use OoO and I just think your arguments suck.
The point is a hard counter for Small Game exists in Hangman's. A Survivor using OoO on GF could still be sitting on a generator nearby repairing it while keeping an eye on him. Two for one.
Whether or not you think my arguments suck is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is the other scenarios have clear counters that exist. GF only counter is to do the thing he's supposed to do anyway. OoO is an obvious bait anyway as that person is usually the most skilled looper.
That's not a counter.
-
@Visionmaker said:
Why do we need to nerf something almost no one uses anyway?
Why would someone run OoO every game to counter Ghostface when they're more likely to run into a Nurse that'll rip them a new butthole?
This is a terrible argument. Just because no one uses it doesn't mean it shouldn't be nerfed.
It is OP in the cases where it is against stealth Killers. Therefore, it needs to be adjusted so that in CASE someone brings it, the stealth Killer isn't complete dogshit.

You are suggesting that people use Hangman's Trick to counter Small Game. "How are you even making this comparison? Did you even think before you posted?"
He can go and use his 115% ms to down the survivor that uses OoO. OoO has way more of a downside than Urban Evasion does against Hag.
I'm suggesting that if you're playing Trapper, Hangman's is a good idea in general, making Small Game and irrelevant problem. Not to mention a Survivor focused on trap sabo isn't doing gens.
He still can't use his power and will end up getting looped regardless because his power isn't useful in a chase. Meaning he still can't play how he's supposed to.
You just want to hold on to your skilless counter.

Just seems to be like this should be a given. The fact this perk hard counters every stealth Killer is a joke.

@Visionmaker said:
I don't see it being a problem outside of the PTB. How often do you see survivor running OoO, Dark Sense, Spine Chill and Premonition? Even if people will use those perks more, why is that an issue? I thought everyone was sick of the same meta to begin with.
And why can't perks counter Killer powers? Exhaustion perks counter all M1 killers, Small Game counters Trapper and Urban Evasion counters Hag.
Comparing this to Sprint Burst is hilarious. Sprint Burst has a cooldown that lasts 60 seconds and doesn't cooldown while sprinting. Trapper can use Hangman's Trick to nullify Small Game somewhat by making it so he only has to wait 60 seconds for traps. Urban Evasion prevents a Survivor from Sprinting, so even if they crouch over your trap, you gain distance on them. If you aren't in a chase, you'll never even notice the effects of Urban Evasion as Hag.
OoO completely nullifies Ghostface's power 100% by just looking at him through a wall. There is 0 he can do to counter this.
How are you even making this comparison? Did you even think before you posted?

You're skewing what this thread was initially for, we're talking about a specific situation where a teammate chooses to not help others (do the objective at all) in favour of camping the hatch just to escape... of course there's situations where you can't help others but that's not what we're discussing.
And I'm not skewing anything.
They are throwing you under the bus to get the hatch and escape. It's optimal, especially if there is no tangible hope that either of you will escape if he tries to save you.
Again, altruism doesn't mean teamwork. It means to SACRIFICE yourself for someone else. He doesn't wish to do this because he is trying to Survive, his main objective.
You being mad that someone didn't put themselves at risk just to save you is vastly more toxic than a guy who was just trying to win. Stop letting your emotions rise during a video game, especially when what he did is a completely legitimate and viable strategy. If he still loses a pip, that's his punishment the game deems he should get.
This thread is just salt. That's all it is.

There's no reasoning with you is there... play how you want I don't care, doesn't make it the optimal way to play the game.
"Your chance of survival will vary depending on whether you work together as a team or if you go at it alone" It literally hints that working together can change the outcome of the game too, and in most cases it does, saving teammates buys more time to do gens and allows more people on gens. But if hatch camping and escaping with bare bones points is for you then have at it.
I can use vague game quotes from when the game was first marketed to support a point too...
However you define the optimal way to play is irrelevant, I don't have to play optimally if I don't want to nor is there anything that forces me to play optimally. So if you don't care how I play, it doesn't matter.
And not necessarily, you take it as helping your team is always gonna be better. I take it as, it depends on the situation. Is trying to be a helpful teammate going to help you in a situation where Hag has placed 5 traps around the hook and is camping? No, absolutely not, it's most likely going to make you wind up on the hook yourself. In this case, playing selfish is actually optimal play.
Optimal play is completely dependent on the situation at hand in this game.
Also, funny of you to assume I do this. I don't, but I also don't fault other players for doing it. They can do what they want. You complaining about it isn't going to change anything, so you may as well save your fingers.

Fair, but very scummy.
True, but so is projectile spamming and 50/50 corner setups in fighting games, doesn't change the fact it's here to stay and as a player of the game, you're going to have to deal with it.
If you don't get hooked, which is your own fault, then it shouldn't be an issue. Also, it's completely legit to lead the Killer to someone hatch camping. Sabotaging your teammates is fair game, as long as you aren't actually "working" with the Killer.
This is what I would do. If I knew he was hatch camping, I would aggro the Killer into chasing me and trying to kill me. In my efforts to get away, I would find opportunity to throw my teammate under the bus to save my own skin. It's the same concept as throwing a pallet on your teammate to block them, or pointing at a locker to throw a coward under the bus.
This isn't a team game. Only your own survival matters, and you should achieve that through any means possible. That's what it means to be a Survivor.

Honestly this thread is a bit of a lost cause, people are just getting fired up and snarky. People who say this behaviour is okay, should have no future right to complain when they're left to rot on the hook or get nothing but these teammates who do nothing but still escape. It's not about winning, I don't care if I personally die but watching the person who sacrificed the team or did nothing but dance around the hatch escape IS annoying and it IS satisfying in those instances when the killer catches up with them before they get their precious sell out escape.
It is a team game, if it wasn't we'd all have a separate gen quota or something, so many people are tempted to jump on the bandwagon of EGC and tell survivors who complain that "your team failed their objective" hence team here, but when it comes to this situation everyone is suddenly going nah you don't have to work as a team (even though altruism, bp and all other mechanics of survivor suggest otherwise) survivors are definitely more successful when they work as a team than everyone being selfish hatch campers. Not working together is an option but I'm not going to support the idea that it's the right thing to do.

@weirdkid5 That's true, but it was the point of discussion on this thread, and felt like everyone was supporting the "did nothing and gave up" teammate, not actually acknowledging how bad the tactic is from a team POV, if we like it or not survivors are a team and those who fail to support the team at all shouldn't be the ones expecting the escape, plus it's basically them saying the team's dead and looking for the easy way out instead of actually trying and getting points doing so.
Thanks for the follow up though. I don't think this thread was started to change this strategy, more just frustration I guess. We all get there at some point, probably doesn't help when everyone is so blunt and sarcastic about it being a "strategy".
Again, if you say this is a team game, I will once again point you to the Steam Store Page and that it is literally a selling point that you are allowed to be as selfish as you want.

I don't know about this one, it brings me great joy/it's poetic justice if the killer finds said teammate who does nothing (or in more likely cases for the ones I encounter actually sacrificed the rest of the team) and destroys them before they can escape, we all die as a team and they deserve it more than anyone if they do nothing (I've seen this happen repeatedly at 1 gen left). I'd be with this quote if they had at least attempted to help not just give up.
Especially in OPs case where the rest of the team tried to actually do the objective and died while one teammate didn't contribute at all (even if it is a 3 man match). We've all had those matches, everyone is acting all cool in this thread until it's happened to them repeatedly.
I honestly don't get why everyone is hating on OP for just saying how scummy of a move it is, especially by what would be considered the top ranks (seems like most expect that OP wanted to be saved/survive and missed the point). They survived so they did something right...seriously...survival isn't everything in a match and a teammate who sells out the entire team or does nothing but hide when it's down to the last 2 people are the worst, you'd think killers would be more against this... I mean it's not fun when they BOTH want to camp the hatch and you have to play find the immersed survivors.
That one person off the gens trying to find the hatch could have been the difference between 3 survivors working together to actually get gens done and potentially escaping/getting points at the very least vs. absolute destruction and depips for all involved.
Saying something is scummy isn't going to change it in the game as long as it is a legit strategy, which it is.
Besides, OP decided to assume we are all ######### players and ######### community simply because we aren't phased by legit strategies.

But but... you should let the game last longer! It isn't any fun killing them asap!
Haha just kidding. Killing all 4 Survivors with 4 or more gens left should be an automatic pip. Likewise for Survivors, if no one has been hooked and you escape, it should be an automatic pip.
There is 0 reason to stay at the same rank when you clearly decimate the other side.

80 hours a week or so, maybe more
My steam currently says 189 hours in the past two weeks so I assumed slightly less.
I wish I could do this again.
Alas i have a job that eats up 35 hours a week for me so RIP

But pig is a stealthy killer, when they buffed her event scoring for ambush they wanted to encourage her stealthy mechanic. It may not be the best, but she is an ambush killer. I don’t think OoO is going to get changed though, it’s not ran enough, if it was in every game I’m sure it would be.
You don't need to change OoO.
Just make it so that it doesn't work when he uses Night Shroud. That's it.

5.4k views, bhvr, the fact this is even past 2k should make you think something's up, look at how popular this thread is, look how many people say plague Is weak/not fun, she's not, the ideas there but the action is crap. It's not fun to not be allowed to use your own popwer because survivors say no. You could make it so survivors feel they need to cleanse i.e slowdown.
######### I made a thread that got over 4000 comments.
Not even so much as a "we'll consider it" from the devs. If it's something that might inconvenience Survivors, dont hold your breath.
