Thats why i 360 to left and to right.
But yea if i play as a killer i try to not lunge because its much easier to hit.
Most 360ers I've noticed spin only in one direction but if you're one of the sneakier survivors who randomize your spins, that's where my second recommendation of not lunging comes in. While not impossible if the survivor gets lucky with timing, it's virtually impossible to 360 a standing smack.
-
I've found that I will usually miss on my first two or three swings from 360 survivors until I figure out which are doing it. Once you know who is gonna 360 you, it's much easier to swing with the 360 (for example, if I know they 360 turning right, I swing right of them when I go to swing; they 360 themselves into a hit).
I will also stop lunge hitting them because it's much harder to lunge hit a 360er. Sure, it takes another 2 seconds for me to catch up but that's better than another 30 sec chase because I swung and missed.
NOTE: I'm on Xbox, not PS4 but I assume the drawbacks of the controller are the same on both console systems

I don't use DS and I survive (relatively) often.
As I said in another thread, I found it didn't come into play more often than not. Whether that's my luck or killers are getting smarter about it is up for debate I suppose.
Either way, I'd rather have a good perk that is always in play rather than a great perk to have but only useful in certain situations. Sure, I miss DS in those situations but that's the gamble I take.

But do you use the perk flip flop???
Hell yeah I use it!!!
Catch ya on the Flippity Flop! Killer is just lucky I left my Boom Stick in the Delta or I'd show them!
-
Sorry you feel that way. I love playing Killer. I also love playing Survivor. I flip flop between the two pretty regularly and have enjoyed both equally.
-
I just throw them a thumbs up when they're jerks to me in a message and then stop responding after that. Usually they don't talk again but I have zero issues just blocking someone if they just bombard me with jerk messages (and report them to Xbox Live if it crosses that line).
Jerks are gonna jerk so why bother letting jerks get under your skin?

Well i think Killers should get something in return too. The major complain is that gens are going to fast.
With this basekit change, survivors would know that the killer has noed at the end, so they will most likley cleanse totems aswell which will slow the game a bit down. If they dont do, they will have a more difficult endgame. Fair deal in my opinion.
I wouldn't be against it, I just personally think that bridging the gap between solos and SWF is more important than worrying about helping the killer.
Although you make a fair point about it either slowing the game down because survivors HAVE to deal with the totems now or they gen rush and then they risk getting taken out easily if the killer is able to catch one of them in the end game. I just thought that it was kind of silly for the killers to complain that "It's not faaaaaair!" if the survivors got something added to base and they didn't but you make a very fair point about why NOED should be considered a base perk.
-
I could take or leave NOED being part of this deal but Kindred really does feel like it should be a base perk (at least for solo players). I do think it would make a huge impact on closing the advantage gap that SWF has over the poor solos.

If survivors stay in the exit gate area the killer should have the ability to re-lock the gate using the lever making it so that the remaining survivors have to completely open it again and the survivors inside are forced out.
Simple mechanic that I think would make the game a lot better and mroe interesting
...that is a great idea
OT: Personally, I don't ever t-bag at the gate unless the killer did something REALLY douchey (like they slugged someone and will just stand over the slugged person while the gates are open). I find it mildly annoying as a killer to have a group of survivors rub it in your face that you weren't able to kill any of them or whatnot so I don't t-bag like that if I'm the survivor.

then you are not using it correctly:
Doors open, you take a hit for someone and go down, you get saved, you body block to the exit gate, killer downs you (cuz no choice), you either crawl out they get DS'ed, then end with a "gg ez".
Literally nothing a killer can do about that.
Also OP, pls send me to your servers because my experience is WAY different.
My response went away for some reason :(
Anyway, the long story short of my first response that may or may not be gone to The Entity is that while that is true, DS can be super useful for those specific situations, I just find that they don't happen often enough to make it a "Must Have" perk. When you need a perk like DS (or Adrenaline), it's SUPER awesome to have but for every game that needed DS to save me, I have four games where it just takes up a perk slot and is never used. I'd rather have a less useful but always impactful perk equipped than a perk that is super useful but only in a game or two per night.

That's fair but that situation just isn't all that common in my experience. The bad guy would have to hook me, I get free, then I get in the killers way when he's chasing us to the exit.
Sure, it happens and I wish I had DS in those specific situations but more often than not, DS never comes into play. So I basically have a perk spot being used by a perk that would have come in handy in maybe a game in my night of playing.
Same reason I don't run Adrenaline; it comes in handy in the specific situations it's needed in but I'd rather have a slightly less useful perk that is always in play over a super useful perk that is only used one in five matches.
-
I stopped using DS cause killers seemed to have wised up against it. They seem to realize if I was just unhooked and am trying to draw them to injured me instead of the person who unhooked me, they'll either ignore me or they'll slug me and come back in 60 seconds or so (hopefully I've been able to crawl away by then so I guess it kind of helped if I manage to not get found).

i got a 4k in the match im describing so i won too.
but it doesnt change the fact that the ability to ######### a hook within mere seconds is not OP as hell
I mean...you killed everyone. I'm not sure how toxic and bullet proof the quick sabo can really be if you still slaughtered everyone (I "only" got 3 of the 4 in the match I described. He got to the hatch as I downed him).
I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree here because I love the change.
-
1000% with you on Kindred. I find myself hating to play survivor without it to the point where I will grind for BP with others until I can unlock it with a new survivor.
I switch killers too often to have found a perk I HAVE to have but some like Ghost Faces thingy where he blocks generators is dang handy or Freddys where he blocks gates.
-
I love it so come at me Milhouse and Nelson!
I wouldn't be playing the game if I was as miserable as so many on the forum seem to be about it :D
Yeah, there's things that do irk me but the enjoyment I get from the game far outweighs the times I am irked by jerk survivors being toxic a-holes or killers who just sit and roast marshmallows when you get hooked. People need to stop taking this game like it's literally life or death like I used to and just enjoy it (or if you are getting super irked, just take a break)
-
I had SWF abuse the ######### out of it. But then I just smacked the sabatour. They could get away with it once but I overtook them quick enough since I just kept pressure on them with smackings. If they were too far away, I just went to another hook instead of walking to the hook I knew they'd sabotage.
As a survivor, I'm also happy with it because sabotaging was basically worthless because it took so long. The killer could walk halfway across the dang map before the stupid hook clanged down.
-
I've stopped using it as well. Against a decent squad, it'll be rendered useless before the end and against a bad squad, I've likely killed them before the end any way.
Once in a while it would have come in handy but more often than not, it's a wasted perk slot.
-
I had a guy send me a "u suk" message right away before the game started (I was the killer).
The entire team including him (I assume they were SWF as they all had similar gamertags) then proceeded to kamikaze right into me as a killer and basically spun in place until I killed them all.
Not sure how that benefited them or if this was some 4D Chess trolling somehow but hey, I'll take the free kills and points I guess?
-
Nope!
Some have hints (like a clock on your team with Freddy and his Dreamworld power) but for the most part, you don't know the killer until he/she makes a noise (like Michael's music or Billy's chainsaw revving) or you see who is trying to murder you.
-
Eh, I find it fine. I play probably three to four matches a night (so a hour and change) and I've had no problems getting through most of it (though granted, I've barely touched the Compendium thing).
The only ones in the Main Rift I don't have are ones for characters like The Spirit or Jane as I don't have those particular DLC pieces and a handful of super specific ones (like David King getting two protective hits) because I just don't feel like playing specifically to get myself in the specific situations needed to unlock them. I suppose if I ran out of Compendium to do, I might go back and try to do those ones for funsy.
But ultimately, there really doesn't seem to be much benefit to The Rift except for extra points and I guess if you're super interested in the story chapter things, you lose those (though I imagine that would be super simple to just look up on The Internet Dot Com somewhere).
NOTE: I have not started Chapter 4 yet so maybe Chapter 4 is stupid grindy for all I know...
-
My only issue with it is jerks who use it to taunt the killer
It doesn't seem to happen as often for me anymore (maybe I've just gotten better at the game so they have to use it sooner) but I found a lot of people who would just sit at the exit and mock you after you hooked them previously.
So either
A. I sit there and watch them bop up and down like over-caffeinated children until they get bored/the timer runs out and they leave
B. I bop them on the nose for being ######### and then they DS their way out of it or they crawl out the exit if I just let them lie there
Again, this doesn't seem to happen to me very often anymore but I can 100% why this would frustrate someone new to the game. It's one thing to lose but it's another to lose to jackholes. I just don't know what you would be able to do to fix that particular issue with DS...
-
I had the nicest back and forth with a survivor I murdered yesterday. He told me GG, I told him it was noble of him to draw me away to let the other player survive (they were together at the end game so they either both go for the exit and maybe both die or he splits off, forcing me to choose) and he was very pleasant and humble about my praise.
It was a very happy back and forth that you just don't ever see in a competitive game like this very often.
-
I just found her too dang frustrating.
I know if I just practice with her and Git Gud, she's supposed to be a blast but I've never had the patience to figure it out and I get super cranky about it for some reason. Like...SUPER cranky :D
The teleportation works really well once you have those distances down but if you are off even a little bit, the survivor is gone. My Jimmies get russled and I try again only to screw it up again, further russling those poor Jimmies and now I'm on tilt and it's all over. I play killer to have fun and I just can't figure her out well enough to achieve that goal.
-
I hate playing him but that's more because he gets to see where you are all the time. As someone who much prefers being a sneaky snake over a runner, that saddens and irks me :(
-
Because it's fun and I've realized you win some, you lose some. People take this ish way too damn seriously. Play for fun; maybe I'll get 4 kills or maybe I'll get goose egg but since I'm adjusting my style for fun and not HAVS TO 4K OR I FAILURE!1!!1!, it's a lot more enjoyable.
-
I also do my best not to tunnel as a killer (I almost certainly lose kills in the game for it but I think it makes the game a lot more fun for all involved so whatevs) but if a survivor is just being a prick, I have no problem tunneling their ass.
It takes a lot to get me that irked but you better believe I'll go Terminator on yo ass and make you my Sarah Connor if you're going to be a jerk and I will have nothing but a big ol smile on my face if you send me angry messages about it.
-
@Blazelski said:
Nope. I've played with toxic survivors like that before. They love it when you get so angry that you get tunnel vision for them, and will laugh at how pathetic you are while they are hanging on the hook as their team knocks out all the generators. They will also laugh if you don't hook them. Literally everything they do and don't do is "toxicccccc" and hilarious. They win no matter what using child-like logic that whatever your reaction, it's the reaction they were hoping for. The only thing you can do where they aren't winning, is brush it off and try to enjoy yourself despite the game you're having.
Oh I enjoyed myself immensely tunneling the fella and making for certain he was murdered so everyone wins! :D
-
I don't really care about the blood and gore (might be fun to add but I'm kind of meh on caring about it).
However, I like the weather idea. I think it would even add a neat little wrinkle if every so often the weather changed (snow falls causing snow prints but the sound of snow muffles the sound of your character for example). I'm not sure how realistic this hope is as I imagine implementing something like that would be an ass-ton of work (assuming the engine they use could even support it) but I think it would be fun.
-
I guess if wasting a bunch of your time because you're spiteful is what you're into, then go for it.
These situations are why I have my computer with my Xbox for when a killer is being a dingus and I can just throw Youtube on for a few minutes while we all sit there staring into the abyss.
-
Agreed
It gets super irksome to see some dum dum rushing to me with the killer hot on their tail cause I just know they're gonna grab me, which will leave me alive long enough to get punched in the face again and dropped :(
-
@Cardgrey said:
If you enjoy this game enough that it annoys you to not have some content. Maybe you should support the devs and buy the dlc. Cosmetics on the other hand....
That's at least partially fair but as someone who JUST got into the game, I think it's a little unrealistic for me to spend about $70 give or take (and that's assuming you got the game itself free like I did with Xbox Game Pass) to get the all that DLC for survivors/killers that are specific in the Archive.
This isn't exactly a dealbreaker or anything for me with this game but that does suck. It doesn't seem like it would be very hard to individualize the Archive a little bit and not have a bunch of my Archive include The Spirit, one of the killers I don't have.

New to the game, can someone tell me what is SWF?
Survivor with Friends (AKA a party of people playing together)
-
While I do think a swf group has a HUGE advantage in the game, I don't know what you could actually do to counter it.
People want to be able to play with their friends. While there are some people who are like a military unit with what they're doing, there are some who just are playing with their friends. It just feels like it would cause another set of problems if you start punishing people for playing with people they know...
-
@Carpemortum said:
Well, even in postgame you can open the menu and see game details and it tells you who is who.
Either you can't do that in the Xbox version or I'm too dumb to figure it out :D
All it says in my post game stats thing is which tag played with which items but it doesn't say which tag was the jackass Meg who was glitching.
-
Yes please!
There are times where a survivor is just being a straight-up ######### and/or cheating and I'd like to give them the report they deserve (or contrary, there have been times where I've had a survivor go above and beyond to help and I'd like to give them the ol' thumbs up) but if I wasn't paying enough attention or don't remember who was who or whatnot, I can't.
-
@RakimSockem said:
You can also do this at the exit gate as you're about to leave. If the killer is chasing you and other out the gate and someone else is injured, take the hit and you'll get the protection points.
See, that's what I had tried at the end game and either I did it wrong or it didn't count it :(
It seems like the only (reliable) way to get it to count is to get smacked while the killer is carrying someone. Which is kind of super annoying seeing that you're not really helping the situation (unless the survivor being carried happens to only need a few more seconds of wiggle to escape) but whatcha gonna do?
-
...huh, that seems like an incredibly useless "protect" but that seems to be the verdict considering how many people have already said that in the three seconds my thread has been here :D
Seems like a very useless hit to take since I'm not really protecting anyone, I'm just momentarily inconveniencing the killer while they carry someone to a hook but if that's what it takes, so be it. That does explain why some people stand on the hooks like that though, I always thought they were just being trolls :D
Thanks Peeps!
-
Are you using the Chalk Pouches? :D
-
I guess I don't really care. I can't do anything while I'm kicking the pallet anyway so it feels wasteful for the survivor as that's time they can't run and it's usually cleared up by the time I'm done breaking the pallet anyway.
-
I just joined the game a week or so ago and the only thing I really have trouble with are the people who just run around an object and turn the game into a Benny Hill chase. I almost always eventually catch up to them but I've burned so much time by the time that it's finally happened that half the damn generators are completed...
If that ends up happening, I'll usually decide to be THAT killer at that point and just camp their ass. If you're going to break the spirit of the game by running around in circles like an ass like that, I'm gonna break the spirit on my side and watch you wiggle on the hook and just stab you if someone tries to bring you down 😈
-
Yeah, if the Disconnect is 3/4 through and they DC because they got downed, I'd play as normal. This was more for the beginning and for the answer, just kind of assume the remaining survivors got super screwed by it.
