Alright, what's your opinion then? is the metric system superior to the imperial system or not?
Not really. Neither is superior to the other.
-
Uhh Dead Hard is trash. It doesn't work half the time. Even when it does it's a one off. The killer isn't falling for it twice.

No. I answered the OP question about how to complete the challenge, then I answered the comment by xGHOSTFACEx about "what a meter looks like in the game" explaining about how game engines and game development work, and then I wrote just a line about how great the metric system is (because it's a fact).
Don't you agree?
It can't be a fact. It's literally an opinion.

The question from the OP didn't really need a thread, just jump from the higher map and I'm sure you'll get it (Is it the hole in Hawkings 2nd floor?), but I'm pretty sure it works on coal tower or crotus prenn as well.
Also, I'm not sure about Unreal Engine, but in Unity 3D, the unit is the meter, and you, as a developer, should create (or scale) your models and everything in your game accordingly. I'm pretty sure Unreal Engine works the same way, so you can extrapolate the height of the characters. I think Leatherface is ROUGHLY 2m (maybe 1.9m, IDK), so let's say, 4m is rougly 2 bubbas stacked, there you go.
And that's why the metric system is so great, it works everywhere and it's easy to use :-D Could you imagine coding a videogame in feet, yards... OMG, I'm having a headache just by thinking about it. Nightmare fuel.
Did you really just go on a tangent about the superiority of the metric system?
-
No. Play as who you want. Everyone has at least one killer they dislike facing. But as long as you don't play like a toxic jerk they have no right to complain.
-
Nobody said it was toxic. The only time I have an issue with it is when they slug for the 4k. It's boring and a waste of time. Hook the person and take your chances.

Botany. I used to run both along side Self Care and Empathy when Claudette was my main. Post unhook heals were stupid fast.

Wait...... this is a game?
Sad how often people forget that.
-
It's just silly fun. I haven't had anyone try yet sadly. Admittedly it's not for everyone. Which is fine. But I think we need more things like it in this game. It might get people to remember this is just a game and have more fun again.

Well it always makes me wonder why one even plays games in the first place.
Like why do you give yourself as much of an advantage as possible to "win"? what motivates someone to do so?
Like do you feel like a champion when you literally take candy from a baby? I mean you beat the baby....good job?
Heck I dont even know why one does not straight up cheat at that point, Doom, IDDQD, look I finished the game with god mode on, good stuff.
Unless you dont care for a challenge at all and just play something for the story I guess, but this is DBD... Where is hte fun in just completely skewing it your way.
I mean this is not just a survivor issue (or heck even DBD, it happens in a lot of games), killers do it as well, bring Leatherface, facecamp the basement, then have a Mori and NoeD and Bloodwarden.....yeah uhhh gg?
I think you're overstating the power of those perks by quiet a bit. They exist to counter camping and tunneling. If you don't do that, they lose almost all their power. Granted they can still be abused. But I've been hit with a total of two DS's because I don't tunnel.
-
So you're pissy because they have the audacity to use effective perks?
-
But you don't have to own every Dlc. It's true that it adds to the game. But you're far better off starting with the smaller roster and then adding to it as you get more into the game. You are right though. For a new person, buying all the Dlc at once would be a big investment.
-
I'd say I have two of the top of my head. The first would be the first time I got a 4k. I was ridiculously bad as a killer. Arguably still am. But it made me feel like I was starting to get a feel for the game.
The other is more recent. I was doing one of the escape x amount of times challenges. I have the worst luck when I actually need to escape. After a few tries I decided to play as Jake, as I was leveling him up anyway.
We get to the last gen and the killer, who hadn't found me all game finally did. We start a chase and he injures me. The final gen pops and my Adrenaline kicks in. I look down and suddenly see I'm exposed. Now I'm freaking out trying to not die while wondering why in the hell I'm exposed.
I lead the killer on a marry chase to a door to find two David's standing there having not touched the door. So I veer back around the way I came. Lead him on an even longer chase back to the door.
Thankfully they'd finally opened it. Only to nearly get me killed as they stood in my way. I got around them and out the door just before the killer can catch me. My heart racing, overjoyed to have finished the ridiculous challenge I go to the tally screen. To see the killer had Rancor and guess who the obsession was. That was possibly the most thrilling chase and closest call I've had.
-
Wait. Are you saying people would proclaim a situation dire when it isn't? Surely not. I've always found both sides present fair and reasoned arguments. Nobody here would ever blow things completely out of proportion.
-
I never did so...

Thats their problem is like as killer I dont want to use my power. Its a tool game gave us to have fun in chasing. If you dont want to voice comm in game just mute people its totally fine.
Except it's not simply their problem. If you balance around voice coms. People are either forced to listen to a bunch of screaming 12 year olds dropping n-bombs. Or play at a handicap. That either becomes a new balance problem. Or one that drives players away. Neither is a good idea.
-
That's a bit dramatic.
-
@Blueberry said:
There's been some minor balance changes since then but it's still pretty accurate for current times. None of the changes since then were significant enough to invalidate them yet.
I'd agree that the experiment still has some validity. But I think minor grossly understates the changes made.

There are ways to balance it without removing it. Devs just dont want to at all, and they pretend that the issue doesnt exist.
They've repeatedly acknowledged the disparity between solo and swf. Though they've yet to come up with a solution.
-
@Oberon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1128691#Comment_1128691
Not saying dividing the player base. Just that SWF groups don't gain or lose MMR and receive fewer BP. They can still load up in the main queue. They'd just be internally flagged to receive fewer BP and not receive an MMR change.
That's not going to stop swf groups. If anything it would make the problem worse. It would likely have a bunch of them hanging around in the low ranks. Beating the crap out of baby killers.
-
@Oberon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1128673#Comment_1128673
Casual play with SWF: reduced BP, no MMR change.
Competitive play out of SWF: increased BP, full MMR tracking.
Simple enough.
Dividing the player base into competitive and casual ques would be a disaster for que times.
-
While I don't disagree that it's an issue. What do you want the devs to do? Removing swf is not an option at this point. They can't control voice coms. They could add voice coms to the game. But I think the majority of players would refuse to use it.
-
Because people are #########. It's unfortunate, but it's just the way it is.

Well I despise YOU!
Just kidding.
All seriousness, Kate's new skin is kinda gross to look at, especially her blow up doll face.
I hate Steve because almost every Steve I encounter is the worst. It actually has nothing to do with his cosmetics. I do agree with you though. I could do without Porno Kate.
-
I appreciate the extra points. But I also don't trust it. I play normal, but I'm definitely far more wary.
-
Some survivors hang out by the exit waiting to be sure everyone is safe. Others do it to taunt the killer. Alot wait there to give the killer a free hit.
-
Steve. I despise Steve.

@Coder said:
So, basically you want a stack for every aspect of playing the game normally? How about a stack for every 10 metres you walk?
I want a stack of Devour Hope for each pallet I break.
WGLF is fine as it is.
How is it fine? It does nothing in game. All it does is give bonus BP. I don't think the OP's entire list should be implemented. But adding a couple of ways to get stacks would be great.
-
I like the idea. I think just add the gen repair or healing somebody. As for a secondary effect, maybe you see the other survivors auras when a gen is completed.

OoO was never nerfed.
It doesn't work on Tier 1 Myers. Night Shroud Ghostface, a cloaked Wraith, or a crouching Pig. It used to work on them. So it was indirectly nerfed.

Why would it vary from region or platform? What bearing do those things have on perk use?
Because these things usually shift at least a little based on region and platform. Not saying there would be a massive shift. But there's probably at least some differences.

Probability hates me I guess. Cause even after taking a break and deranking back to 18, I'm still get red/purple survivors and on average I see DS on at least 3 people every match. Sure doesn't feel like 46% to me.
The OP is also in the PS4 EU servers. It probably varies from region to region. Also from platform to platform.

The devs don't ignore killers though. There are plenty of buffs and nerfs on both sides and I hate that each side cherry picks constantly. Survivors have had a lot of things nerfed but I guess it doesn't matter because killer mains only focus on their negatives.
It's a ######### show on both sides, agreed.

Bro imagine if you stop to hear a quarter of the survivors ideas,I am a hybrid and already hear a lot of stupid ideas from killers, but nothing overcomes the group of survivors asking for 5 perks slots or for each exhaustion perk have it one timer.
I never said survivors didn't have some bad ideas too.
-
This is honestly not too far off in my opinion. I'd say a bit too harsh towards the killers though. I think alot of the shall we say hostility from the killer side comes from the feeling they have that the devs ignore them. I get why they are frustrated. But if the devs listen to even a third of the ideas I see from killers. Survivor would be absolutely miserable to play. Honestly I wish both sides would just have calm civil discussions.
-
Of all the random complaints...

Be honest, do you see it used “correctly” most of the time?
No. If I went by that standard, half the perks in the game would need to be deleted.

1) Don’t run Urban Evasion. Learn to loop, hide better or just start running to a safer area.
2) Don’t run Self Care. Bring a medkit instead.
3) If you see that a survivor is getting chased, you no longer have an excuse to play stealthy and walk/crouch.
4) Don’t let the killer generate pressure because you wan’t to “save” your Sprint Burst while going to the next gen or making a hook save.
1) No, Urban is extremely useful if used correctly.
2) If ran with Botany it's fine. Otherwise, yeah don't run it.
3) Agreed. Move your ass.
4) Same as above.

Balancing the game around newbie survivors is what got us into this mess. The devs need to put their foot down and tell these people to git gud. Instead of making it easier for them. Every time they give a buff to help the new or crappy survivors this makes the good survivors even stronger and screws with the balance. If your playing survivor and losing you feel that you can improve. As killer however it feels like even if you improve it is still an uphill battle. There's somethings you simply can't improve because it's 4 v 1 and not all killers are equal. Many lack map pressure or the ability to end chases quickly unless the survivor makes a mistake. The problem with modeling a game around one side making mistakes is what happens when they make zero mistakes? Your at a disadvantage and there's not much you can do when the game is designed that way.
I think their point was both sides can be stressful.

killer mains whined enough to nerf every single of them, "instablind op", "BNP op", "instaheal op", but tombstone is ok, 1shot hatchets are ok, 1shot after bottle is ok, perma tier 3 myers is ok etc (i wont mention add on combos)
this game is easier for killers than it ever was and they still whine so much, this is just sad
so i guess they wont ever buff those (because they just nerfed 2 of 3) ;/
Those were kinda OP. Of course so are some of the killers pink addons. But there's alot of crap ones as well.

It's almost like we're gonna live forever isn't a thing. Literally BBQ for survivors.
Oh right, it's not "meta" so you can't leave behind your precious dead hard, borrowed time, DS, and unbreakable.
Bbq has an actual in game use. Wglf doesn't. Also the killer doesn't have to compete with someone for stacks. They literally just have to play the game.

No obligation to, just you won't get that pip if you don't. It's pretty obvious you can't be selfish at all in this game. The entire survivor emblem system is based around playing survivor like a team game.
No it's not. A single person not being rescued will not tank your emblem score that much. Especially if you've been productive the rest of the game.
-
Killers. The low tier killers need some QoL changes. Survivors are fine over all.
-
@Decarcassor said:
At the very least the red stain should not be visible if you are not directly in chase with the killer. On open maps you can see the massive red glow from the opposite end with no problem.
I will agree with this. It should stay in chases. But shouldn't be there when they're not in chase.
-
It's all about being able to dodge his shocks. If you can then you'll be fine. If not, it'll be a short chase.
-
It's kind of a in the moment decision. I had a game where the first survivor DC'd after I hooked them. I goofed around the rest of the game. 3 hooking the other two and 2 hooking the other. I stomped the hatch and let them take the gate. Also if it was just a generally good game I'll sometimes let them leave.
