  • She's hot even though she has a skin condition.

Oh you meant how is she to play?

    She's pretty sick.

The only killer who moved up a tier with reworks was hag. Trapper, doc, and wraith reworks just made them slightly less godawful.

I appreciate that you still have hope tho.

Of those 4, only Hag and Wraith got actual reworks. Hag is now top 5, maybe top 3 depending who you ask. And Wraith went from just above Freddy to mid-tier. Trapper "rework" was just changing a few add-ons and his trap set time. All he needs it to start with 2 traps by default (but can only carry 1 after placing them unless he has a bag), and the ability to reset a trap that's on the ground. Do that and he will jump up a bit more. Doc is still a POS character and needs an actual rework, but the changes to him were also very minimal, even compared to Trapper.

So based on the track record, Freddy should be at least mid-tier after the rework. He could be with some very specific QoL changes, he actually doesn't NEED an entire rework.

now, i dont want to sound like a smartace, buuutt...

MoM doesnt work if a killer uses his power to hit you, right?

now, yes... freddy does have a basic attack, however he wont hit anyone with it, unless he uses his power on the survivor first. that way he is actually using his power (indirectly, but he still uses it) to hit a survivor, which should deactivate MoM.

its the same as with the nurses hits. a blink hit is achieved with her power, therefore it doesnt count. i bet when she gets a normal lunge attack on a survivor, MoM does work perfectly fine, doesnt it?

even though it probaply aint gonna happen that these get added / stay, i believe this is a good explanation for it ^^

    BASIC ATTACK

Freddy's power does nothing to injure you only place you in a state where you can be injured. Therefore he hits you with a BASIC ATTACK. If his power did something to injure you (eg. Corrupt Purge) then you would be right.

  • I'm behind the times. I've been spamming DS. 😥

Never used it before because it was a dumb perk. Now I actually like it because so many killers want to hard tunnel you off a hook. Saved my behind many times in the past week alone.

It's especially lame that you depip from it, that woulda happened even if you kept your BP. Maybe you would have gotten a safety or a pip if you have enough emblems, but generally when killer DC's you depip (and if he camped everyone you had 0 Benevolence, at red ranks that's an automatic safety pip even if you get iri in all other categories).

  • As someone that was a Freddy main for some time, I don't get this whole "Freddy is the worst killer so he needs to be exempt from this" philosophy. Freddy hits with a basic attack it should count.

Not to mention, Freddy is getting a rework. When is the big question but I'm sure he will jump up a few spots on the tier list afterwards. Are we gonna then go and find the next worst killer and make them exempt from stuff?

Sigh the NoED argument again? the one you can get rid of? i don't run NoED personally but i find this such a false equivalency.

MoM's edition now creates 3 second chance perks and unlike with NoED that does not work with all builds or even all killers (Hello Huntress hatchets, Legion Frenzy and Plague Puke)

They make them so they actually work in sync with each other! BT actually stacks with MoM then DS comes after it what in the serious shitbiscuit?

Dead Hard, MoM, DS and Adrenaline.

Congratulations you now have an all purpose god mode that is only countered by an Ebony Mori or Exposed effect.

If you do Ruin and NOED together you will almost definitely get 2 kills. Just camp the first guy you find, they rush gens proc NOED, by this time the guy is dead. Go smack someone once and face camp them. If you actually go out and play the game you can 4k really consistently. Same goes for if they can't do gens through Ruin, you just rinse/repeat the first step until everyone is dead. So don't sit that and pretend like NOED isn't strong when combined with other perks. It definitely is stronger when combined with other perks. Do full end game with Remember Me and Blood Warden. Another strong build.

The hypocrisy is strong with this one.

I honestly would love a greater in depth story to all off Dead by Daylight. It's a universe with so much potential for lore, and the Lore section is proof a lot of people want more story.

The story could come from the game itself or even a external site. I just want to feed my brain with Lore.

Hmmm.... maybe a YT mini-series of some kind? Animated in the style of like Hallowed Blight cut scenes and such. That would be really awesome IMO.

Ideally your rank is not your reward, but rather to gauge your level of skill and match you with other people of your skill level. You should eventually hit the rank that you're comfortable in and then have a hard time ranking up past that. With that said, the emblem system is still being tweaked and adjusted and any odd edge cases should hopefully be ironed out.

    Three things...

    1) Matchmaking puts me, a rank 3 survivor/rank 1 killer, against players of ALL ranks. I've had killer games against a full team of rank 15. I've had survivor games against rank 10 killers with rank 8-10 survivors. If rank is there to match you with similarly skilled players it's worthless because the matchmaking doesn't actually do that.

    2) To some people rank is a reward. And when I play super well in a game and literally do everything because I have low rank survivors with me, only to get shafted at the end and NOT earn a pip by mere pixels, that is not a fun experience. I feel robbed. Then the other players rank up because their requirements are less strict and even though they barely did anything compared to me, they get the reward and I don't. If you want I can show you pictures of instances where I was literally single digit points away from the next tier emblem that would have given me a pip.

    3) Pipping is all opportunity and luck based, not skill based. At red ranks I need 3 iri/1 bronze, 2 iri/1 gold/1 silver, or 1 iri/3 gold emblems to pip. THAT IS INSANE. That means I need to do 3 gens solo, escape without getting caught once, escape 2 60 second chases, and make 3 safe rescues. Doing that is just not possible in the average game. It's almost like I have to farm with killers/other survivors to get that. If the killer camps just 1 person, I lose my only Benevolence and now no matter what I do I am locked out of a pip. It's lame and frustrating and not fun to deal with. If I safety pip or depip because I played bad, I'm fine with that. If it happens when I play EXCEPTIONALLY well, then I'm not fine with that.

When these interviews and media things happen why doesn’t anyone at BHVR think “hey let’s tell our community about this!” And provide us the link to it

    it baffles me

Ps thanks for providing the link. Otherwise I would have never seen the article

also so did I read this correctly? They are working with lions gate on another project then asked them about ash? Maybe we will get a sinister chapter or better yet Twilight (/s). Sinister could be cool though

Yea they are working on another game with Lionsgate it seems, and that's how the Ash DLC came about. Could be anything, but I wouldn't expect some sort of DBD clone. They did that with Death Garden and that game didn't do too well.

Also the comment about story is just a one liner at the end of the article. The rest is about the Ash DLC and how it came about. I just posted it for us to speculate what kind of story elements we will see.

  • This has happened to me a few times since the engine update with Legion. It also happens on other maps. I've had swamp maps where the boat textures are pure white.

There is also a bug that so far I've only seen on killer where textures load in BRIGHT green. Like you can't even look at the object it will just glare out your entire screen. Happened to me once and then to someone else as I was watching them stream. It's migraine inducing bright too, painful to look at.

Insta heals need a nerf anyway.

This. Also the devs said they are looking at ways to make insta-heals not instant anymore, so it's on the chopping block.

Also getting hit should reset the healing bar because it seems you can 99 the heal and then take the MoM hit, then finish the heal. THAT needs a fix for sure.

Maybe if it inflicted Broken for a short time like 20 seconds so you can't insta-heal in the same chase, but if insta-heals themselves will be nerfed that might be unnecessary.

It didnt work, or it had too many survivors whining about it that they removed it...?

Didn't work because if killer closes the hatch, survivor hides. Game is now going to go on forever. No survivor will do a gen in that situation unless they have a gen jockey build and the map is split.

  • What is your point in this, do you imply that survivors do not stack everything in their favor in their builds? How does the killer stack things in his favor? Run ruin, NOED, or the off-chance they run devour hope? Break totems, negated. It's a poor argument. Will I agree with unwarranted tunneling/camping, yes, but that is largely not the case and the perception of being tunneled is subjective, as I've gotten accused of tunneling even though I ran into him, not pursuing but ran into him, shortly after because he ran off in an unintelligent way; better yet, he parked on the gen I literally just took him off of.

So I made this point elsewhere, but saying "just break totems" is not exactly a solution. If killer runs Ruin and NOED together they will have a huge advantage. If they run pink mori and add-ons that's a stacked killer game. Maybe SWF can do all the totems no problem, but a SOLO survivor will have a significantly more difficult time. If it's certain maps, then it's even harder. Spending all your time on totems just IN CASE killer has NOED is a sure fire way to die most of the time.

There's nothing I can do to stop survivors from DCing when I play a certain killer, with the rest DCing in tow since their teammates screwed them; I depip too because of who I wanted to play, not even my build, just my killer choice. Arguing depips due to uncontrollable circumstances is not an argument.

No but I was making the point that it is very easy to get screwed over in this game as survivor. Some killers need fixes to emblem points, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about not only losing the opportunity to earn emblem points but even being straight up punished for it. If a survivor DC's/suicides that sucks for killer yes, because it means less opportunity to get points but you don't get flat out punished for it too and LOSE emblem points you already earned.

Literally impossible. You have to get hooked first, that's after a chase of at least a minute or two if you're reasonably map aware, get unhooked, then downed again, which can be 5+ minutes and 3 gens into the game, stop exaggerating.

Dude I had a game against a Legion yesterday that tunneled me off first hook and mori'd me. Probably was more than 60 seconds yes, but it was definitely within 3 minutes. We didn't even have a gen done and Ruin was still up. Considering I got chased first that's not even on me. It's not exaggerating that much honestly.

You've already talked about bad survivors in the past several remarks you presented while blaming the occasional campy killer and then projecting it via a sweeping generalization. Much of what you said above has almost everything to do with you getting caught and/or your teammates actions.

No dude, the first example where a killer was camping/tunneling is NOT bad survivors. Explain to me how a survivor is supposed to do a safe rescue if the killer never leaves the hook? They HAVE TO save me, or else they lose Benevolence. If they let me die on hook, they can't pip. Leaving someone to die on hook is not really a valid option unless your only goal is to escape, and even then it's not that great of an idea. When I say bad survivors I mean that. When I say camping killers I mean that. If a survivor has no choice but to make a potentially unsafe hook because the killer won't leave, even if they get a hit on someone else, THAT is what I'm talking about.

Never considered 4 deaths a 4k and don't think I've heard the claim much either. That's likely toxicity, retaliation to toxicity, or both on the part of the killer. No excuse for either party, pretending survivors don't "ask" for what comes their way is ignorant.

I was just making a point to killers that think slugging = a kill only because I know someone would have said "but you're all dead that's a 4k".

Depends, do you support build diversity for survivors but not for killers? Survivors have the ability to run with anything they want, killers have abilities specific to them which are complemented, not supplemented, by the builds they run, to bring the best out of their abilities. To say that killers should stunt themselves for your enjoyability, at the expense of their own, is hypocritical. Again, you're overexaggerating the efficacy and efficiency of these builds, 2 gens are regularly popped before killer can stumble upon their first survivor if they're really unlucky, 1 within the first 2-3 minutes is common, 1 survivor runs while 3 more continue repairing, do the math.

I'm not complaining about build diversity, but there are some killer builds that are exceptionally lame to play against as survivor. And no I'm not exaggerating, particularly when it comes to Doc 3 gen on game. It is almost impossible to not 3 gen yourself on that map, and when it happens if the Doc is committed to keeping you in Madness 3 the game will just drag on for ages, which is not fun to play. My point was to highlight problems survivors have to deal with, not to say killers don't have problems of their own.

    This applies to both parties

Yes exactly. Again highlighting survivor problems compared to killer problems. They both exist, yet killers like to pretend survivors have to so easy when it's so far from the truth.

Sure does but you're heavily skewing it as if survivors are the victim of something they're not

No I'm highlighting survivor problems. No where did I say killers do not have problems too. The OP talks about the problems he faces as killer, which is why I ask him to play solo survivor to red ranks to get a better perspective, on top of potentially being able to enjoy the game since he doesn't enjoy killer at the moment. It might even help him become a better killer.

To summarize, I'm not trying to downplay the killer problems as described by the OP. They are all valid complaints. I'm simply trying to contrast his frustration with the usual survivor frustrations to show that the grass is not actually greener on the other side. There is reason to have this stuff in the game, and while not perfect, they shouldn't be nerfed into the dirt either.

I'm copying this from another thread where I posted but here's an idea for fixing it:

Honestly the perk is just poor design to begin with which makes it difficult to adjust. It needs an entire rework as to what it does fundamentally. Second chance perks aren't healthy for the game nor is ones that have no counter "generally".

If we're forcing a tweak on it though, remove the speed boost component of it that normal killer hits would give. This allows you to body block with it and take an extra hit, but you aren't gaining ground in a chase. A body block perk is more reasonable than ANOTHER chase extender. You'd still get a little ground from the swipe animation but nothing too extreme like how it is now. It also adds a counter now in the form of STBFL.

Actually it already is sort of like this. IDK if you remember my thread "Mettle of Man facts" when the perk was leaked, but at first it seemed like there was no damage speed boost. I tested some more and confirmed there is. After seeing it even more in actual games, it seems like it's somewhere in between. It gives you an very VERY short damage speed boost, but it's not like getting hit normally. It's almost like a mini-DH effect, there to let you gain a bit of ground so the killer can't just machine gun you down, but short enough that it's not going to extend the chase unless you take the hit in a good position.

That said, I'd be all for removing the speed boost entirely if push comes to shove. Though IMO, what they really should do is remove the "basic attack" clause and let everything count (also remove it from Dark Devotion and Infectious Fright), then increase the number of required hits to 4. This would make it a death hook kind of thing, as you get hit 4 times that's 2 hooks. Then once you get saved it can act as both what it is now, and as a self-induced BT. Makes it a bit harder to get the use without sacrificing the potential power of the perk and making it useless. And it gives killers more room to play around it if they have one shots, or just decide to camp the obsession after second hook or something.

A longer animation would mean the killer could recover fast enough to grab the person when they jump in.

What they need to do is allow the killer to close the hatch. If the killer finds the hatch first, they shouldn't be punished for it. If the survivor finds the hatch first, they can escape. Why doesn't the killer get any benefit for finding it first?

Eh I could see that, but then survivors would just wait a short distance AWAY from the hatch, so that they can use the speed boost to negate the longer animation. It doesn't actually solve the problem, just pushes it to a different spot.

As for closing the hatch that was tested and didn't work.

I think a better solution would be just make the hatch closed and the last survivor has to pick the lock. It would be a channel action like doing a totem, something like 8 seconds maybe is fair. Give it a noise indication so that killer can hear you do it and they don't need to be right on top of it all the time. IMO that's a more fair solution. Then they could make changes to keys too. Broken Keys pick the lock at a slower rate than normal (but you don't need to be the last survivor in the trial to do it), Dull Keys pick the lock faster, maybe in like 3 seconds or something, and Skeleton Keys open it instantly. That would kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Of course this is just 1 suggestion. There are a lot of ways to do it, but I'm just making the point that a longer animation won't be the solution we are looking for. It could be, but I highly HIGHLY doubt it.

I'll repeat myself then if you don't seem to get it: just because you present points does not necessarily make them valid nor are merited refutation. To expand upon that: just because you said it, doesn't make them right, even though they may be right to you, and nobody is obliged to entertain them. Minds are made up on this board more often than not, thought-posting eventually gets met with deflection, memes, or "lul git gud"; pretending it doesn't makes you willfully ignorant to the matter

Uses the word "DEFLECTION" in a post that is just 100% deflecting. If I made invalid points then you can refute them. I wrote them out very clearly and with a lot of detail, so comparing it to something like "git gud" just proves you'd rather deflect than refute. If I'm wrong it should be easy. If I'm not wrong then just keep deflecting.

Someone that plays both sides at rank 1 wouldn't have these opinions.

I play survivor at rank 1 solo regularly and you are way over exaggerating these things. Playing solo survivor at rank 1 right now is an easy and relaxing experience for anyone that's half decent. I depip MAYBE once every 10 games if that. This is obviously not counting games with DC's as that is an entirely separate issue that is being worked on. Nor is it mentioning the terrible matchmaking which is also temporary as they are in the process of fixing that. We are talking normal games. I rarely depip even when I get those games with low rank teammates though.

Also, the amount of times I actually get a facecamper that makes me or someone else depip is way, way less often than people on here like to exaggerate. I get a legit facecamper that depips me or someone like once every 10 games which is the one game I'm depiping. Not enough to be a serious issue. The majority of the time people screaming camper it's because they are miss playing and the killer is capitalizing on it or the killer is simply proximity camping which I'm totally fine with, as that is far enough that you can make saves if you know what you're doing.

You make survivor sound like it's hell right now and it's not even close. Survivor right now is extremely easy for anyone that's even semi competent at the game and barring recent bugs/matchmaking issues/DC's etc.

At least someone here is willing to refute my points. So props for that.

Now I play on Xbox. Maybe your experience is different because you are on PC, or it could be your region, or maybe you are a better survivor than me. I'm willing to accept that. But just because YOU do not see it does not mean it is not a problem. Killers camp and tunnel A LOT. Like literally almost every game a killer does one of these two things unnecessarily. Like I said I can understand situations where it is a necessary thing to do, but that's rarely the case.

When I say camper I mean camper. I don't mean he left for 30 seconds and came back to check on me, then left again. I mean the killer won't go more than 20m from a hooked survivor. And when I say tunneling I don't mean I got saved and ran into the killer, or that killer just happened across me soon after an unhook. I mean the killer saw me get unhooked and just went straight for me.

And I honestly find it hard to believe that you don't experience this at all. Maybe you get lucky and get fair play killers, or bad killers that are easy to escape. Or again maybe you are the .01% of survivors that are super good. But this has been an ongoing problem for survivors for a long time. Killers are so quick to point to the other side and call out "not fair" when it's just as easy to point the finger at killer and say "not fair". Killers have problems, I won't deny that, but you seriously can't deny that survivors don't have problems too.

I use DH instead of BT, but I can basically confirm this is cancer to go up against.

My proof? Playing with this build a lot yesterday and making a mockery of multiple killers.

Nobody should play killer with all the second chances survivors are given.

Dude, most killers are complete trash at the game. A lot think they are good but they aren't, all because 90% of their games are against potatoes and they feel like God. Did you get any killers that are actually good killers? Because if you did I feel like you wouldn't be singing this tune. Play a game against someone like Zubat or Scott Jund and try this stuff. I bet they will eat you alive. Good killers are actually rare, and when you get one it's almost like none of your second chance perks will matter.

I played a few games today against red rank killers that were just all BAD. Like almost every game. And I escaped easily. But then when I get a killer that is really good (or sometimes a killer that gets lucky, eg. grabs someone and gets them into basement first 30 seconds of the game) it's a completely different story.

  • @SpaceCoconut "Take note that the issue isn't winning or losing but the frustrating nature of the matches and how it is not fun for some people to deal with this many second chances."

I will say the same thing to you here that I said in the comments on the YT video...

PLAY SOLO SURVIVOR AT RED RANKS.

Heck you can even play some SWF too. You will quickly see why these types of mechanics are necessary once you get killers that stack everything in their favor too and then hard tunnel or camp.

You will get games where you get found by the killer first and they have strong perks/add-ons where they catch you in 20 seconds, then they will hover around your hook and make it near impossible for someone to save you. And then in the chance someone does make the save, killer will be RIGHT THERE to put you back on the hook. You will depip and it will be just as frustrating as what you are dealing with as killer.

You will get games where the killer does this to someone else, and when that person dies on a hook and you lose your Benevolence, that's a depip where there was NOTHING you could have done.

You will get games where a killer let's someone save you only to tunnel you down and mori you 60 seconds into the game. You will barely get any BP and depip.

Oh and least we forget bad survivors. You will get games with BAD survivors that NEVER come to save you even if the killer isn't camping (rare nowadays but still), or survivors that never do gens and spend the whole game looking for Ruin, leaving you to do 2 gens yourself, and then you will do those 2 gens and die then some Dwight that hid all game will take hatch.

You will get games where survivors sandbag you or run the killer straight to you (intentionally or not) and it will get you killed.

You will get games where the killer slugs you for the full 4 minutes after a 30 minute game because they desperately want a 4k (which BTW is not a 4k, a 4k means you hooked/mori'd all 4, bleed outs are not rewarded and therefore it is not a 4k IDC what you killer mains say).

You will get games where you are completely outplaying a killer then POP, they DC and you depip automatically.

You will get games against killers doing off-meta builds that are super lame to deal with. Those 3 gen Docs on Game where they just use Distressing and heartbeat add-ons to make it IMPOSSIBLE to avoid Madness 3 for anything more than 30 seconds. Huntress pink hatchet slug rush builds where they whack you with a hatchet and leave you there to bleed out. FMT Legion with Sloppy and Thana and Ruin, you will be lucky to get 2 gens for hatch.

There is a lot of BS on survivor side too, stuff you never see because you're not playing survivor at red ranks. Heck this happens at all ranks, but it is ESPECIALLY egregious at red ranks considering the new ranking system requires you to play perfectly and get lucky to even have the opportunities to gain a pip.

The door swings both ways. There are problems all over this game, and while it is on the devs to fix them, there are no easy solutions. I'm sure they know MoM would cause backlash especially after the DS changes, but they can't just make useless perks else why even bother?

McLean has talked about a lot of changes coming to the game, but it's not going to all happen at once. Game dev takes time, change doesn't happen overnight. They can't just gut the entire game, they have to make changes here and there, WAIT to see how it plays out (and by wait I mean like months to get the feedback/data they need to make informed decisions), and then take more time (ie. months) to figure out, test, and implement a solution.

If you are frustrated with killer, play survivor. Just do it. It will be a different experience for you. And I don't mean just play a game and be silly, actually do your best to rank up. At first it will probably be easy because you understand the game, but then, probably around rank 10 or so, you will hit a wall. You will run in these killers or survivors I mention above and you will begin to see why survivors play the way they do.

If the devs would finally learn from their past mistakes, MoM would never have made it into concept. That's my main point.

And just because something's new, doesn't mean we can't tell by now if it'll be good or bad. We told the devs already during the PTB that Legion was bad and it turned out to be the case.

    1) I've seen plenty of times when something "just came out" only for it to be played with for a month or two and it turns out to not be that bad because people found counters. When Legion came out I got into a long debate with Scott Jund on his YT video about Legion that he shouldn't jump to conclusions. Turns out he was right, but that doesn't automatically mean people are always right on first reaction. I held judgment for a few months to actually play the game and see how it works it. THEN I formed an opinion. Considering how often initial impressions are flat out wrong, the whole Legion thing is the exception not the rule.

    2) Even if we assume the complaints are valid so early, that doesn't change the fact that it still takes time to make the proper changes. IIRC, McLean basically said Legion will get a rework, but since Freddy is next on the list and there are other things to consider it's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Lmaoo I think I know why the perk has not been working for me against the exposed status. It’s because I’ve always been in the healthy state and I guess the perk doesn’t work because you need to be injured even if MoM is active.

Yea you can tell when it's going to protect you because you get the Endurance status icon on the sidebar.

Well, there's a whole lot of feedback already. And at this point, regarding Legion and Plague feedback, I'm starting to no longer see the point of giving any, either nothing changes or if anything changes, it's never the part of it the community wanted changed, but always the the part they didn't want to change.

You guys are out of touch with your community for most of the significant balance changes and have been for quite a while.

I had high hopes for DbD's future starting with 2.0.0, but I'm losing it again, which is saddening and hugely disappointing.

You've seen the damage old DS has done. I simply do not understand why someone thought MoM would be a good idea after that.

Dude Plague JUST came out. And Legion just came out in December and they said they are looking into reworks.

These thing don't just happen overnight. It actually takes a lot of time to get right. Notice how almost every time they have a knee-jerk-reaction-like change it's awful? There is a reason DS rework took as long as it did, and there is a reason the Freddy rework is still TBD.

MoM literally just came out yesterday. You can't seriously expect changes this quick in game development. Small things here and there are one thing, but to redesign/rework something takes a LOT of work.

Too many people greatly underestimate what game developers actually do.

Weird, because his ability also counts as the basic attacks.

No it doesn't. Frenzy hits DO NOT count towards activation MoM.

  • *takes deep breathe*

    REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • It's not just MoM. Infectious Fright and Dark Devotion both have the "basic attack" clause. HybridPanda had a Nurse video recently where he tried to use BOTH of these perks and they didn't work. You could tell he was confused and frustrated by this. Someone even commented on the video that was in one of those games to say DD definitely was not working.

We're aware of the bug and we've been keeping a close eye on the feedback. I can't give any exact time just yet, but don't worry, we're on it.

If it helps, it has to do with post-state attacks. Spirit and Hag can also avoid hits that count towards MoM if they hit post-phase walk/post-teleport respectively.

IMHO, the "basic attack" clause should be remove from MoM, Infectious Fright, and Dark Devotion, and MoM should have the number of hits required increased to 4. That would fix all these perks and balance MoM a bit more to keep it from being OP.

    @thesuicidefox

Getting a token towards the perk then yes but the perk doesn’t work against the exposed status.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/051/FZWPUKNT0C9T.png

It does if you are injured. I mean, Exposed is moot at that point anyway, but if Myers has EW3 and you have MoM active and you are injured, you can sponge it.

  • Well the "basic attack" clause can also negatively effect killers. Both Infectious Fright and Dark Devotion have the same clause, meaning that they become completely useless on some killers like Nurse. It goes both ways, even though MoM is objectively stronger than IF or DD.

My rationality is that if you can do an attack and get a BP bonus from it (eg. Wraith's "Surprise Attack") then it's not a "basic attack". That's why I say I think Doc would always activate the clause because I don't think he gets something like that. IDK I don't play Doc, if you can shock someone and hit them then get some BP reward for it being a "special hit" then it shouldn't count.

  • @TheBean said:

Yee... Freddy / Wraith / Doctor have attacks that get a bonus like the Hag... So it shouldn't count.

Myers on the other hand doesn't get any additional bonus if hitting while in EW3. So not sure if that would ever not count.

It depends whether the game counts the attack during some sort of post-power-state. Like for Nurse blink or Spirit phase walk, there is a post-power-state where they can attack and it's during this time that it counts as using their power and not as a "basic attack". IDK if Wraith/Freddy/Doc have a post-power-state. Wraith probably does. Freddy is a hard maybe. Doc I doubt.

  • Trapper - Trap - No

Hill Billy - Chainsaw - No

Nurse - Blink Attack - No

    Huntress - Hatchet - No

Hag - Phantasm Attack - No

    Leatherface - Chainsaw - No

    Legion - Frenzy - No

    Pig - Ambush - No

Spirit - Phase Walk - No

Plague - Corrupt Purge - No

The only ones I am not sure are Wraith surprise attack, Freddy dream chaser, and Myers EW3. I'm pretty sure EW3 is a Yes, and I'm pretty sure Doc's shock>attack is a Yes, but I don't know for sure.

Also these are the attacks that do/do not count towards activating MoM. However once activated, ANY hit that would put you into dying from injured is ignored. I think the only way you can be put into dying when MoM is active is by letting the Deep Wounds timer run out, but again I haven't tested this.

  • It's not like the killer doesn't have ways to equalize the equation. Pink mori alone is more powerful than any combination of survivor perks. DS is worthless against it. So is MoM. BT can delay it. You could argue it's an offering and not a perk therefore you don't always have it, but 1) you don't ALWAYS need it, only for SWF groups and only for the top tier ones at that, and 2) it's honestly not hard to keep a ready supply of them. I have like 20+ on my main killers, and a decent amount on killers I don't main. Freddy is the only killer I don't have a lot of pink mori's only because I would use them all the time for this one build and I already had all the perks so I never dumped BP into him to replenish my supply (or at least not until a new killer comes out, and then only enough to get the new perks).

Then there's NOED. Ruin and NOED combo is incredibly strong, borderline overpowered, because it forces survivors to looking for a specific totem at the start and have all totems done by the end. And there are other very strong killer perks. I know a lot will disagree with me here, but Dying Light is crazy powerful. Besides the fact of what it does, when it procs it also means someone is dead. While it might be difficult to find and kill the obsession, some killers do have tools to do it much faster (Freddy for example, has 2 methods; Black Box and more potent Class Photo... Legion is another killer that can potentially find the obsession quickly). If you proc Dying Light when survivors have anything more than 2 gens left most of the time that is enough to just stop the game in it's tracks.

Then there are add-ons. Insta-saw, insta-hatchets (which is getting nerfed but still), omega blink, extra blinks, Prayer Beads, Mint Rag, shackles, infinite EW, tombstone, Iri King, Iri Stone, Frank's mixtape, Class Photo.

Point is killers have a LOT to even the playing field, in some cases even put the odds in their favor. Survivors would literally have no way to compete UNLESS they are in SWF with stacked perks. Any killer that uses this stuff against solos will body them, and if you don't sorry to say you are a bad killer. Like I play Spirit at rank 1 without PB, NOED, mostly without Ruin, and I don't camp or tunnel and I completely destroy solo groups. SWF groups are the only ones that give me a challenge and even then I tend to win more than I lose. It's to the point where I don't even want to bother with Ruin on some killers because I feel like it makes the game too easy. I even give out freebies often and STILL win. Slug people on death hook just to give them another chance. Let survivors unhook right in front of me and go for the rescuer instead. Sometimes I even go stand in a corner and let survivors do gens so hatch can spawn, and kill all but 1 and let them hatch. Drop reset someone when I literally have the game WON just to keep playing. STILL DOUBLE PIP EZ. Like @gibblywibblywoo said before, I really don't get how killers can derank and get enjoyment out of playing bad survivors that offer 0 challenge. I might as well go play a single player game at that point.

Some stuff still needs fixing for killers, but there is this gang mentality around here that survivors should be nerfed into the dirt and killers buffed beyond belief. No. The game is in a good place right now in terms of balance. Yes, they need to fix the textures on Coldwind maps so they are not see through. Yes, they need to do something about end game and the hatch. But there is a lot of BS on survivor side too. I can count on 1 hand since 2.6 rolled out, the number of killers that did NOT hard tunnel the first guy they caught. It's obscene, and these killers get to red ranks using a very skillless tactic. Killer mains will argue "don't get caught" yea well if a killer wants you badly enough you will get caught. If they are really bad or you are really good you can run from them all game, but those are rare and extreme circumstances. Most killers find the worst survivor in the group and do this. Once you catch them the first time, there really is no running away from you. If you patrol the hook and are right there when they get saved, they are going down again very quickly. "Oh but survivors focus on their objectives why can't killers do it" yea, a gen is not a person. If a survivor rushes a gen they aren't directly effecting another player in the process. You could argue it affects killer, but not in the same way because killer is still in the game and can play to stop you from doing another one. Also, doing gens is literally just holding a button. There's no significant level of dynamics going on. You hold a button and press another button sometimes. A chase however is all about the survivor v killer dynamic. It's not a simple "hold button" there's a lot that goes on in a chase.

Fact of the matter is that killer is quite powerful 95% of the time. The only time killer is on the back foot is against top tier survivors (usually in an SWF) using top tier perks, ESPECIALLY if the killer frequently uses the strongest gear they have and/or employs the easiest tactics they can. And I feel like most killers that say to survivors "just do this" as a counter tactic do not play survivor at red ranks. If they did, they would realize how dumb such a comment is. Like killers always say "just break totems" as a way to counter NOED. Have you ever actually tried to do this WHEN PLAYING SOLO? Was it against a GOOD killer? Was the killer using the best gear they have? Was the killer camping/tunneling? If the answer to all these questions is not "YES" then you have no right to make such statements, sorry. Because anyone that has actually been in this situation knows how much of a detriment it is to find all 5 totems by yourself against a GOOD killer using GOOD gear that camps/tunnels survivors out of the game as fast as they can. It's just not practical. This besides the fact you can't control other survivors as a solo. If they rush gens before you got all the totems, well GG here's a NOED for your face. Oh and if you get a map like swamp, Lery's, Game, Haddonfield, or Preschool you will take AGES to find all the totems. By the time you do everyone will be dead.

IMHO the game needs to force players to play both sides. No exceptions. Players that actually play 50/50 see the REAL problems with the game. Like I don't get mad at NOED, I don't get mad at campers, I get a little upset with tunnelers won't lie (but only if the situation doesn't call for it, I can understand a killer deciding to tunnel someone when there is 1 gen left and no one is dead), I don't get mad at loopers, I don't get mad at DS or MoM, I don't get mad at flashlights. Like very few things actually bother me in this game anymore because I play both sides. I can understand why players do certain things. "We did gens really fast, this guy is gonna camp I don't blame him" or "this survivor is on death hook and all his friends are trying to body block me or FL me to save them, I don't blame them". Too many people that play this game lack any sort of perspective. They just see things from one side and get super toxic perpetuating these problems even more. It honestly needs to stop. YES the devs need to fix some things, but Jesus tapdancing Christ, some people just need to get better at the game. Know how you do that? By playing the game IN ITS ENTIRETY so that you can understand it better AND by challenging yourself against tougher opponents. Sit at rank 15 and play against baby solo survivors/killers all day and you won't get better, more likely you will just get worse.

  • I used DS for like 10 games today. I was able to use it twice. Once because the killer decided to tunnel me off the hook. The second time I was able to bait the killer into chasing me while it was active, and being on my death hook they took the bait. They were mid-chase on someone else also on death hook. The first game I escaped. The second I still died by the end of the game (I got away with DS, but then got caught at end game when gates were powered, though me using DS did help others to escape). I also technically got to use it a third time, also by baiting the killer to chase me and not someone else. However it was a Doc running Unnerving and I missed the skill check because it's SUPER tiny.

Long story short, I basically have to go out of my way to use it, unless the killer tunnels me off the hook. Enduring AND Unnerving are counters to it. You can slug (in fact I had gone down a few times with about 10 seconds left but the killer decided to break gens/pallets first and waste a bit of time then I lost the option to use it). There is literally no reason to complain about this perk now. If you do, you either fell for bait or tunneled someone. Both of which deserve to be punished.

  • Because killers are saints that are never obnoxious? Right, sure.

  • She talks in the menu and the lobby also.

I thought it was weird I kept hearing this "clank" sound when I'm sitting in a menu/lobby/store as Plague. It would happen every time she would raise her arms. Now I realize it was a bugged voice line. I actually really like it.

  • Don't hate the player hate the game.

The survivor is right. You're just asking for him to let you catch him. Not his fault the walls are see through. If he was abusing a glitch that's different, but this is a part of the game. And it can work in your favor because he can't stealth you, so you will never lose the chase. If he's the last survivor that's a bad situation.

Just power through the loop. Use Enduring/Spirit Fury or Brutal Strength if you really need it. Stop trying to always mind game survivors.

You just come across as entitled when you get mad at survivors for looping. Petition the devs to fix it and maybe don't show how toxic you are to other players just playing the game.

  • I generally don't tunnel but I've still been hit by DS a couple times. Usually because multiple people are the same survivor and I wasn't sure which I was chasing. One time was because I was trying Member Me on Plague and had to tunnel my obsession off her last hook to make sure she was dead before the gates got powered. But I'm totally fine with that because 1) she's a RM obsession and I was intent on killing her so she needs a way to defend herself, and 2) I got 1 more token out of it LOL.

DS really isn't that bad anymore. OP is totally right, if you find yourself getting hit by DS often you are just a tunnely killer.

"So many bad Spirit rely on this add-on""They aren't ever even that good."

Said every survivor that died to a Spirit using it. This just isn't accurate. It's quite simply just a good addon like any other killers good addons.

As you said, "There is counter play" So this post in meaningless. The addon is fine.

No dude they are bad. Like I said I'm a Spirit main. I play without NOED, most of the time without Ruin, no mori's, and green or yellow add-ons. I can tell when a player is using Prayer Beads to compensate. If a good Spirit uses Prayer Beads I can tell that too. But most Spirits are not that good they literally rely on Prayer Beads to carry them. It's very obvious. Like I said it has counters, but when you have to play against it ALL THE TIME, and majority of the time the killer isn't even that good it's just lame. Super lame.

You just want to defend stupid nonsense. You have no objectivity here.

  • While they are at it, they need to do something to Spirit's Prayer Beads too. So many bad Spirit rely on this add-on it's ridiculous. This coming from a Spirit main. There is counter play but it's just getting really lame to deal with it on EVERY Spirit player. They aren't ever even that good.
