You sure he moves at 4.4m/s when in Nightshroud? There's nothing saying he moves slower EXCEPT for when he is crouched.

🤔
*murderous desire intensifies*

The thing I would say from playing like IDK, 20 games against him today, is to not try too hard to use stealth/stalk when survivors know where you are. If the survivor is looping you it seems like it's better to just chase like normal. This is especially true if you get survivors that are good at running while looking behind them.
And when you DO stalk, be sure to use the peaking more than just straight stalking. Not only does it seem to stalk faster but it's harder for survivors to break you out of stalk.
-
I have yet to play as Ghostface, but I've played a bunch of matches against him. A couple killers used Haunted Grounds and it seemed pretty effective on him. The one shot it gives you let's you ignore his stalk ability and just stick to stealth, which saves time and is a lot scarier than when he stalks you.
I would like to try Shadowborn on him also, because I imagine it would make it easier to stalk survivors with a wider FOV.
After that, the usual killer builds/perks seem to work just fine for him. BBQ, Ruin, Enduring/SF, Discordance, Nurse's, Whispers. His own perk Thrilling Tremors is pretty good too, I feel like that could become meta potentially as it's like a half-breed between BBQ and Ruin.
-
I agree about aura perks.
However Prem and Spine Chill shouldn't be affected. They are there to counter stealth killers.
And OOO itself needs a massive change. That perk is so very broken against EVERY killer, not just GF.
-
Class Photo is one of the strongest add-ons in the game. Easily top 5. You just have to be careful because the +2s transition can really hurt you late game. But if used correctly, you can forgo all aura perks and go full gen crusher or whatever you want really. It's also better to use CP if you use Dying Light than Black Box, because BB gives away your build IMMEDIATELY and is only going to help at the start of the game where CP helps the entire game. With CP you can find the obsession super fast AND force some survivors to waste time waking up. Look through my post history for a post about good Freddy builds, look for "Dream Catcher". It's unbeatable unless they know your build before the game.
Nancy's Masterpiece/Sketchare really good add-ons too, because they increase the range which can act like a block because you hit them with sleep from farther away and by the time you get to them they are asleep. It also makes corn very dangerous against Freddy. But the most important reason to use pictures is because Dream Demon will lock-on to survivors through walls. When you use pictures it does this at range, meaning you can hold sleep and spin around in a place where you know a survivor is and it will snap to them, making it very difficult to hide from you. (EDIT: Just to be clear you don't sleep them through walls, just that the crosshair will lock on to them giving away their position).
Paint Thinner (and claws/rake) are meh. They only increase your movement while Dream Demon is hitting a survivor AND since your movement is slowed it can only increase your movement during that time to normal speed. It's not really worth using IMO. Some people like them though, but blocks and pictures are way better.
The best combo for normal use is Nancy's Masterpiece + Unicorn Block, and his strongest combo is Class Photo + Zblock.
EDIT: Dresses are also pretty good because they can make it really hard for survivors to wake up. The problem is it's still RNG dependent, so there will be times where it doesn't make a difference. But when they work, you will crush them because they will spend ages on a gen and never wake up.

No this has been happening since 2.6 (March), do you not read before posting?
-
I also like to mention that I have an alternate account I play on for fun (where I let killers kill me and I let survivors escape), and even then, at rank 18-20 killer, it still takes forever. It's nothing to do with rank or time of day or how many survivors are/aren't playing. Killer matchmaking is flat out broken.
-
Why is this no way to deplete the stalk gauge as survivor? Maybe a pallet stun could remove 50% of the meter.
-
Because only his face is a ghost.
This was we can continue to call Spirit by her nickname, "The Ghost Butt".

Oof going into the realm of trying to personally insult someone for their views. But to your point, as a software developer and system admin, a position I have had for many years, I actually do use the Quality over Quantity approach. It is what I prefer, and in my experience garners better results than promising hard set dates and pushing content that isn't ready. The company I represent also prefers well received content over broken and rushed releases. So as to finding a job? No worries.
I'm not saying set release dates are all bad, but it may be something that just isn't working well for BHVR based on their last few releases.
1) Where did I insult you LOL
2) If you set a release date, you better release. If you don't there will be hell to pay.
3) You are overreacting if you think these MINOR changes constitute content that "isn't ready".

Nope I don't expect this at all. BHVR has shown they prefer a "Quantity over Quality" approach to their releases.
I would not mind a "deadline" being pushed back if it meant the content would actually be better for it.
YOU may not mind, but the thousands of people that were expecting a new killer on the 18th would definitely be pissed.
Good luck at any job ever if you think you can just "push back" a deadline like it's nothing.

Shhhh.... saying stuff like that is how the mafia gets you.

It's not so much the level of changes/nerfs, but the fact that it is happening immediately after the launch of the killer without any further testing to see its effects.
For those that are not active on the forums and actively paying attention to the patch notes they would have the mindset of maybe thinking Ghostface was good on the PTB and excited to purchase it, only to have it changed right away.
Dude the set a deadline. June 18th is when the killer comes out. You really think they would push it back to have another PTB just to test what are actually super minor changes?
They tested one version, it was too weak. They tested another version, it was a TAD too strong. They know where he sits now, no further testing needed.
I swear, the way people are overreacting to this is almost comical.

I agree the add-ons need a rework. Everything but batteries, filament, and the white/green bulbs are worthless.
Flashlights themselves I think are in a good spot. If anything I would say increase the base charges to 10s on the yellow/green flashlights and 12s on the purples. Maybe also add other effects, like how flashlights can be used to disarm Hag traps or lightburn the Wraith. We need more stuff like that to add some utility to flashlights. It doesn't have to be anti-killer either, maybe a flashlight could reveal a totem aura if you shine the light on it or something.
-
I'm not using streamers just to get camped or tunneled or mori'd. Whether it's an event or not this happens so often that BP offerings tend to be a waste.
I will only use streamers if the killer asks to farm or if it's a killer I know and/or am friends with.
-
One thing people are ignoring...
Stealth really hurts Spirit. Being slow means she can't search every nook and cranny in every area, and if you never give away your position via crows or scratchmarks it is really hard for her to find you.
-

These perks do indeed counter her, I use them myself and I'm a very difficult catch for Spirits. And I main Spirit and find the ones using one or both of these perks to be the most difficult to find and catch.

Myers gets to mori survivors. Until y'all start screaming about that, prayer beads is off the table for discussion. The boring overrated daddy gets to be dull as all hell, just standing there like an idiot who never learned anything... oh wait, they didn't. lmao canonically, Micheal is a freakin idiot bwahaha. But then y'all wanna complain about the spirit. An original killer, a visually striking and stunning killer, a creepy looking killer with eerie sounds and effects, and a power that is so fun to go against. I jump and then laugh when she jumpscares me. It feels so correct, so right, so perfect when she kills me. But whatever. Hate her more than any of the ugly dumb male killers but ######### ever.
1) This thread is a PSA not a complaint. People need to stop discussing balance here.
2) Tombstone is EZ to beat. If it's Judith's Tombstone, then Myers is slow AF and he is probably doing infinite tombstone so it will take him forever to tier up. Just loop the crap out of him and avoid feeding him EW. If it's Tombstone Piece that's a bit trickier, but it also means more stalk time and if he got his t2 on you then he won't be able to stalk you enough to get t3. Also it's temporary, so just hide. Oh and if he is chasing you in t3 just jump into a locker. If he is going for the achievement he will leave you alone and go find someone else. If not, he will hook you, which is not instant death. Tombstone isn't even comparable to Prayer Beads.

@miaasma "it's crazy to me how you can type things out like "you can increase the chance she makes a mistake by being unpredictable" and not realize the implication that all it boils down to is whether or not the spirit is good. what you're effectively saying is that if she is, and she doesn't mess up, you're dead. ergo, survivors have no real input in a killer-survivor interaction, all that matters is how good at the game the killer is. ergo, bad killer design"
If any killer doesn't mess you, you're dead. What is your point?
And you can still play such that even if she plays perfectly you can still evade her. Like I said, windows are very strong against Spirit. If you take a window that isn't an LT wall chances are you will avoid the hit from phase walk. You have input in that interaction.
"you can play as unpredictably as you want but in the end if she uses her tracking tools properly she doesn't need to predict anything, just react."
Unless you don't give her anything to react to. Not to mention, you don't need to necessarily escape the chase, only avoid the hit out of phase walk. If you do that most of the time it means you juked her and gained enough distance to keep the chase going. If you can do that consistently, you can make her waste a lot of time.
"keep typing the same thing over and over again" but repeats that she has no counter play when several people have pointed out that she actually does.
-
@miaasma "i never said spirit was overpowered, i said she had no counterplay"
Still incorrect. There is counter play as I and others have pointed out. You just seem to refuse accepting it.
"spirit doesn't really have to predict anything lol"
She does if you are unpredictable. If you run in straight lines and vault windows like clockwork, yea she doesn't need to predict things.
"pretty convinced you aren't reading stuff at this point, and if you think "hoping she messes up" is any actual counterplay or in any way good killer design then you're hopeless"
You're not "hoping" she messes up, you are making her mess up by being unpredictable. This isn't like DS when you are completely at the mercy of the other player making a mistake. You can put her in positions to make mistakes, and you can increase the chance she makes a mistake by being unpredictable.
"Aren't reading stuff" yet ignores every proposed counter play to her.

Lose a game is not 4k? Because I think this is the problem here, killers always want 4k.
No lose the game as in 3e/4e/depip. A good survivor with Iron Will that knows what to do against Spirit will waste a lot of your time, and/or be the gen jockey you can't stop while you are busy with other survivors.

really don't have the patience to respond to the same things over and over again so just read back
Your points have been debunked though. Nothing you've said about how she plays is an indication she is overpowered and needs a nerf. More that you simply fail to counter play her properly. It can be done, I do it all the time and I've had it done to me (and I'm a pretty good Spirit). It's all about prediction skills and your ability to be unpredictable yourself.
-
@miaasma said:
i feel like you didn't read anything i typed in this thread if you think i haven't played spirit or don't know to take windows against her
the standing still thing you're mentioning shows you're out of touch. she can stand still until you start to walk away, THEN phase at you. that's what i mean when i say a spirit can just watch what you do and react accordingly
the rest of your advice is just "do random stuff and hope she screws up" unabridged. that's exactly what i do and it works a lot. doesn't mean it isn't horrible that the only "counterplay" to a killer is hoping they messed up
it's a guessing game killer and it's bad design, and assuming i'm some rank 20 who has never played spirit and doesn't know what i'm talking about is your call
If you play Spirit then you honestly shouldn't have that much trouble beating her. Yes, she could fake the phase walk, see what you do, then phase walk, but now you have a head start. If you move to a spot that breaks LOS and act unpredictably, you can avoid getting hit. I've done it. It's not hard.
"Do random stuff and hope she messes up" is exactly what you need to do. If you act unpredictably she won't be able to hit you out of phase walk. When that happens you can loop her like any other killer for a short time.
Also it's not always a guessing game, it's a PREDICTION game. You have to be able to read what she is doing, and you do that by understanding how to play her. If you are running directly at a window, the obvious choice is that you will vault it. She is predicting you will do that, so you need to NOT do that. Then the next time, slow vault the window. She will think you didn't vault. It's called conditioning.
@miaasma said:
a spirit main saying "spirit is the most balanced killer in the game" and not realizing their own bias even when it's spelled out for them is just hysterical
especially when it's paired with calling everyone who disagrees with them "survivor mains"
Because Spirit main's understand how she plays and therefore understand how to counter play her. I find it very easy to play against most Spirit players, because most Spirit players aren't very good honestly. I know how to counter play her. It's why I tell Spirit mains you want Stridor because it's the only way to beat Iron Will. The common counter argument is "well I have no problem tracking survivors in phase walk", yea because most survivors are bad at playing against Spirit. But get 1 survivor that knows what to do, give them Iron Will, and you could easily lose a game because of that one player. I've had players juke the crap out of me during my phase walk because they were very unpredictable. That's what you need to do to beat her. The less information you give her to find you, the more likely you will escape. Do I still die to Spirit? Yes, but it's usually because I made a mistake, not because she was so powerful I couldn't beat her.

Then grass and corn should move as she moves through them while phase walking.
That would completely kill her actually. I don't agree with this. There is a reason they removed the directional phasing sound because it was too easy to track what she was doing.
-
@Seanzu said:
Yep!
I've seen you in a fair amount of threads about Spirit Beads and people absolutely sure that grass moves and using that as a counter argument as to why they shouldn't be changed.
"Because it has counters".
Yes, it's not a valid counter tactic.
I main Spirit and I firmly believe that Prayer Beads need some sort of drawback. Currently there is a bug whereyou can hear her footsteps when she is phase walking very close to you. This bug should be fixed HOWEVER it should be made a drawback of Prayer Beads. It doesn't need to be extreme, something like you can hear her footsteps when she is within 4m only so that grabs are much more difficult because that's the part of PB that is overpowered.
-

Yes, this is exactly it. Not enough people actually test this stuff, they ASSUME because other invisible killers do it that she does it too, but she doesn't.

-
@Orion said:
I distinctly remember seeing grass move when she phased through it. Maybe it was a bug they fixed and forgot to mention?
Nope. I would go make a video but I'm honestly just lazy.
This is what a lot of people believe but it is WRONG. It was never a thing.
A friend of mine was arguing with me about a month ago about this. I brought him into a KYF and proved to him he was wrong.
I think the reason people believe this happens is because Freddy will make corn/grass move and/or because she has collision during phase walk. But her collision only applies to survivor models, NOT to the environment. Only crows will react to her during phase walk.
-
@vampire_toothy " By this I mean that Spirit still causes grass to move"
THIS IS FALSE. Spirit does not make grass/corn move while phase walking. People need to stop saying this.
@paint1210 said:

no, they mention that they already fix the bug "When you using her power or vault window, you original body will shows red stain."
So the previous patch is all bug. Just like basement grass moving. It is a bug, not MinDGamE.
From the patch
- Fixed an issue that caused The Spirit to see her Husk's killer stain when phasing and vaulting.
This is also wrong. The issue was that Spirit could see her OWN red stain, not that survivors would see the red stain when they shouldn't.
@miaasma Spirit can be countered, the key is to understand how she works. I main Spirit and therefore have a good understanding of what her experience is like in phase walk. That means I...
- Avoid walking through grass or corn when she is phasing.
- Avoid crows when she is phase walking.
- WALK when she is phase walking unless I know that she is definitely following me in which case I run in unusual paths.
- USE WINDOWS. Seriously, windows are the best defense against Spirit because she can't vault while phase walking. If you find a strong window use it and she is forced to stop phase walk to vault, or to go around which for some spots means you have ample time to avoid her. Slow vaulting windows or Q&Q helps a lot too.
- I use Iron Will and Spine Chill almost specifically to counter Spirit because I know how hard it is to track someone in phase walk you can't hear cry in pain. Spine Chill is my anti-stealth killer perk and counters Prayer Beads. It gives you an indication of when she isn't following right behind you.
- Understand the counters to her "stand still" mindgame. The biggest mistake survivors make is that they will tend to go towards the "husk" which is what the Spirit player wants, or they try to run in a particular direction. Sometimes you don't have a choice but to do stuff like this, but MOST of the time you are better off just walking away from the husk. If she is faking it, this forces her to give up and chase you. If she is phase walking then she won't be able to track you and you can get a head start to the next loop.
- Know when you are being followed and when she is going around to cut you off. If you are being followed, dropping a pallet can save you as it can act like a window in some cases. If you know she is trying to cut you off, don't take the obvious path that is the normal loop. Do something janky, and if you double back just make sure that it's not in view of the husk in case of #6.
- You have to be able to track her power. By that I mean pay attention to how long she phase walked the last time. If it was >5s then she has to wait 15s for her power which means you can loop her like any other killer. It also means if she stops moving that it's 100% a fake out, so don't fall for it.
When I play against Spirits I tend to be the most difficult to track and catch because I know how to play against her. I still get caught and die, and yes sometimes it's just a guess what you have to do, but the more you do to make HER guess the more likely you will just luck out and she will guess wrong (even if you also guessed wrong).
I suggest to you to actually play Spirit. It will give you a much better understanding of how to beat her. It's not that hard, just not the normal way you play against a killer. And yes, she is powerful so against a GOOD Spirit player (which is honestly rare) it will be very difficult. But that's not a result of her being too strong, that's a result of practice and skill.

Red Paint Brush reduces his TR to 8m, and M&A removes 8m, so yes it is 0TR. You can try it yourself.

When it comes to aura reading, yes stealth killers/Insidious need some protections in place.
When it comes to Spine Chill/Prem, HELL NO. There perks are made to counter killer stealth tactics. The reason T1 Myers is an exception is because he moves at 105% speed so it would be completely game breaking for him if you were told he is coming to get you.
-
DREAM CATCHER - Dying Light, Ruin, Haunted Grounds, Play With Your Food, Class Photo, Zblock, green/pink mori offering. When the game starts, use CP to find the obsession. If they are a good looper, break 3 chases and they won't be able to loop anymore. Ruin buys you time, HG protects Ruin and gives you a potential one shot on the obsession. Once you hook the obsession WALK AWAY and let them get saved. When they do, return to the hook (use CP to find the obsession again if necessary) then mori them. This whole build is meant to proc DL as fast as possible. I have NEVER had anyone escape this build. It's unbeatable unless they know what you are doing before the game, which is impossible. DL on Freddy is absolutely disgusting. Once it procs, you basically have infinite time. Just use CP to keep everyone slept as much as possible and don't tunnel anyone else off the hook (incase DS).
HIDE & SEEK - Monitor & Abuse, Spies From the Shadows, Devour Hope, Iron Maiden, Red Paint Brush, Pill Bottle, Lery's offering. M&A + RPB gives you 0 TR in the Dream World. Think of it like Scratched Mirror Myers. You are slower than normal, so you want to avoid chases, instead you should go for jumpscares and position yourself so survivors run into you or you pop out from behind a wall close to them. Spies on Lery's is God tier and will make it easy to find them to put them to sleep. IM is so they can't hide in a locker, which would be the only counter to this build. Lastly, DH is your ace in the hole. Lery's has very strong totem spots and survivors will be too busy trying to wake up to look for it. Once you get 3 tokens, you become 1000 times scarier.
CLASS REUNION - Remember Me, Rancor, NOED, Brutal Strength, Class Photo, Black Box, Shroud offering. Literally just chase the obsession the entire game. Get them to waste pallets which you break with BS. Don't hook them, let them struggle off your shoulder or get insta-healed or whatever else it doesn't matter. Don't even bother with the other survivors, you want them to gen rush you. When gates power, mori the obsession. Use Class Photo to find everyone. When they are asleep with max RM tokens there is no getting the gates open. Slug everyone for the win. If your obsession has Adren that actually benefits you since you can use CP to see where the others are before you mori. Shroud is there to spook the survivors into gen rushing as they will think it's a mori, and to make it so the obsession can't wake up super easy at the start of the game.
TRUTH OR DARE - Ruin, NOED, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Class Photo, Blue Dress, Game offering. This is a very straight forward build, basically you are using the two strongest perk combos in the game at the same time. CP replaces the need for any aura perks, and BD makes it harder for them to wake up. Game is a strong map for this because it has strong totem spots but unlike Lery's it's a lot smaller making it easier to use CP to keep everyone slept as much as possible. En/SF to counter the multitude of pallets on the map.
ENTER SANDMAN - Nurse's Calling, BBQ, Rancor, Surveillance, Zblock, Nancy's Masterpiece. This is my personal favorite but is more of a "skill build" since you don't have Ruin or NOED, meaning you will have to bring your A game. NC is a solid perk for Freddy because it reads auras at 28m where Freddy's lullaby is 24m, so you can always catch them healing. BBQ is another top aura perk for him, let's you find a new target quickly. Rancor is amazing on Freddy because you get a mini-Bitter Murmur effect PLUS you are immune to the only drawback of the perk, the aura read on killer (so long as the obsession is awake when a gen pops). Every time I get my Rancor with this build the obsession never saw it coming. Surveillance is another great perk for him, as it let's you track where survivors are trying to wake up. Basically, you have 4 tracking perks that all track in different ways making it VERY difficult to hide from you. Zblock because it's his best overall add-on. NM adds 12m to your power (so 22m total) and is very underrated. The fact you can sleep from a greater distance means you basically get the effect of a block without actually putting them to sleep faster (because if you think about it, you sleep them from farther away by the time you get to them they are asleep and they generally don't know where you are due to the distance). It also makes corn VERY dangerous to hide in against Freddy. Oh and did you know... Freddy's power can lock on to survivors THROUGH WALLS?! Yep, you will see the crosshair snap to something, that's a survivor. The added range increases this effect, so you could basically just spam your power and spin around to find survivors. Overall it is very hard to hide from you. However, like I said this is for more skilled Freddy players. You have to really understand how to play Freddy and know how to keep track of 4 survivors at once to really make use of this, but boy does it pay off.

Spine Chill/Prem are MADE to work against stealth killers. The reason T1 Myers is the exception is because he moves at 105%. He is easy AF to just run away from, hence why SM Myers is a meme/low rank build and not actually effective against good survivors.
