Why is Ghost Face called "The Ghost Face" and not just "The Ghost"

Maybe @Peanits or @not_Queen can shed some light on this?

Maybe they have another killer in development called the ghost 😉
But we have Spirit, and isn't she just essentially a Ghost...
It's either licensing or the fact that other localized versions of the game use "The Ghost" as a translation. No idea.
Unless we know that for 100% i'm not so sure yet.
Because only his face is a ghost.
This was we can continue to call Spirit by her nickname, "The Ghost Butt".
Yeah, but it just sounds... better? I guess if you said "The Ghost" instead of this clunky short-cut version "The Ghost Face" you might as well just call him by his name, Ghost Face.
Yeah lmao.
Something that isn't so clunky...
I asked this same question and got spammed with downvotes
I would have preferred "The Face", but anything is better than "The Ghost Face".
The Mask
The Shroud
The Face
The Unknown
The Stalker
Just some options.
Any of that is better than "The Ghost Face" lmao... It just sounds so corny.
"The Ghost" clearly expresses his fearsome ability to disappear and reappear without any warning, just like a ghost that suddenly appears on the wall. Furthermore, it would be much more consistent with the name of all other killers, consisting of an article + a noun. No one would be prevented from calling him "Ghost Face", but his official name should be changed, and properly translated.
Now I'm just imagining a killer being something like "An spirit" or "A doctor"
Even the Ghostface would be better as it keeps with the one word tradition of previous Killers. Just having it split into "Ghost Face" really annoys a lot of people.
But yeah, there are countless better names they could've gone with. I wish they would at least confirm whether they are legally obligated to use that name or not.
@NuclearBurrito You quoted the wrong message: it was @thatguyinktown to suggest the "a" article, not me. I suggest "The Ghost". XD
@Entità you said it was article + noun.
There are articles beside "the" and that was the joke.
@NuclearBurrito I want a name consistent with all other killers', like The Trapper, The Shape, The Pig... so The Ghost. :)
I know what you meant. But that doesn't stop me from messing with what you actually said ;)
copyright, most likely
Because he wears a ghostface mask... Have none of you seen Scream? When I say ghostface, most people I know immediately think Scream, or Scary Movie, but yeah.
Ghost
Wraith
Spirit
Nurse that looks like Ghost
I just can't imagine a copyright specifically asking "Hey, I want their short name to be The Ghost Face, none of that "The Ghost" stuff man... I swear if you do that we'll have issues"
Like it just sounds silly in my head.
Well, by definition, a Ghost, a Spirit, and a Wraith are all the same thing.
Well if we're disregarding all this, cause BHVR clearly did.
It sounds more catchy to say "The Ghost" than "The Ghost Face" that's mostly the main point of this post.
Welcome to the world of contracts.
The ideal solution is to leave "Ghost Face" as the name of the chapter (similar to Halloween, SAW, A Nightmare on Elm Street...), and "The Ghost" as the name of the killer (similar to The Shape, The Pig, The Nightmare...). Copyright: respected. Consistency with the names of the previous 15 killers: respected. All satisfied, both developers and players. :)
