I'll say this, if you weren't out here crying about Spirit, well tbh I agree with you that DS is fine. I just don't like double standards

    What double standard?

I don't consider anything about playing against Spirit a guessing game. It's a probability game, and with probability you can still make winning choices consistently. For example, people say the stand still trick is a guessing game when it's not. You just assume she is both standing still and phasing walk at the same time, then you will see the options you have that counter both and can avoid her more easily. The real issue is that survivors over think this situation due to something called "over choice" which is when there are so many choices available you cannot make a decision. If you narrow your choices, it becomes a lot easier, and whatever you do should have a good chance at countering either thing she does. Obviously though, there will be situations where you can't do that so you will need to take some risks. But it's not a guessing game. If you're sitting there trying to "guess" if she is standing still or phase walking you already lost.

It’s weird I went to the Xbox setting, Multiplayer is good, online connection is good, latency is good, NAT type says unavailable, but then I go test the NAT and it says it’s open and then unavailable goes away and says Open. Idk if that’s on my side or Xbox side. It hasn’t been an issue before. DBD is the only one giving me this issue so idk.

If the Xbox says your NAT is Open, then it is likely an issue with the game.

  • Try resetting your network. When you turn on your Xbox go to network settings main page and make sure your NAT is Open.

If you are still having problems maybe give it a few hours. It could just be the hotfix rollout.

If it's still borked after that uhh.... you would be allowed to cry at this point.

  • We really don't need base Kindred.

Kindred is very strong now for solo players. But even then, it's not necessary for good players. If you have a room full of good survivors they will know when to make saves.

"Outplayed" like old Spirit using her collision to bodyblock/confirm hits on survivors?

If you got hit by old Spirit, one of two things happened

    1. You were not paying attention to her husk not moving

    2. She tricked you into thinking she was phasing and you fell for the bait

Seriously, why do random guess scenarios only get to benefit survivors? Don't get me wrong, spirit needed some of the needs she got.. but some weren't THAT necessary. Maybe nurse would have been a better example because she got slightly gutted

I disagree with the idea old Spirit had no counter play. Regardless...

DS is not a guess. You see the obsession claws, you KNOW a DS is in play. Therefore you slug the survivors and pay attention to how long it's been since you hooked them.

You make it sound like you literally have no options.

failing several times in a row but only escaping because you had a perk equipped that rewards failure is hardly outplaying anyone

If a survivor does something unusual and gets themselves caught, that's a dead give away they have DS. Like the only more obvious signal would be a neon sign above their head at that point.

It's not failing to escape if a survivor purposely goes down before the timer is up. Nothing about that is rewarding failure. Survivor took a risk and baited you. If killer picks up this person and gets DS they got outplayed. Pure and simple.

Know what I do when I see obsession claws? I slug the crap out of everyone. Unless I'm positive that it's been 60 seconds, I leave them on the ground. If they do something like jump in a locker I leave them alone and find someone else. If I see them trying to bait me into a chase right after they got off the hook, I ignore them and go for someone else (or slug them).

IT. IS. NOT. HARD. TO. COUNTER. DS.

  • BETTER SOLUTION

When you go to save the guy in the basement tap the rescue as if you are going for a fake. This will reset the person's camera and then all is fine.

Well, Cross-Platform usually has Cross-Progression with it MOST of the time...

In this case, if it doesn't than you'll only be able to play with other console users and PC players but not have your progression transfer between them.

I don't see why they wouldn't add Cross-Progression into it, since your "account" is linked to another account/savefile on BHVRs cloud... so they can just create an account system through that system.

But that doesn't mean it's 100% confirmed or what I said at the end is possible... just take what I say with a grain of salt.

Right but when it launches, will the cross-progress be the overwriting kind or the merging kind? That's what I'd like to find out.

If it's overwriting, I will wait because I don't want to accidentally overwrite my Xbox progress.

If it's merging, I'll get the game probably sometime in January and play on it now and again just to practice on PC until cross-platform comes about.

If it never happens, I'll just buy the compilation game on PC and play sparingly for fun just because I can. I'll still mainly play on Xbox though.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/896410#Comment_896410

I'm getting a new gaming PC, too. I'd love to play DbD on it, but only if all of my PS4 progress/purchases will transfer over. If DbD never has cross-progression, then I will never purchase it for PC.

I'd still get the game if it never happens. But I probably won't spend extra money on it. I'd get the base game and maybe Spirit DLC because I main her and that's it.

Also there were rumors of some sort of "compilation" version of the game that includes all the original IP killers and stuff. If possible I'd wait for that.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

I can give you some advice since I was in your shoes at one point.

Go ahead and start playing on PC. If you have 2500 hours on console then that tells me you really love DbD. So, I would go ahead and start leveling up your characters.

You'll enjoy playing on PC, so I don't see any reason to wait. Hopefully, if cross play progress becomes a reality all the blood points you have accumulated on your xbox account will transfer to your steam account. That would be the ideal scenario.

P.S. Make sure to tag Peanits. He might have some more info.

The thing is I can wait. I don't mind. I'd like to start playing right away just because new computer, but if I have to wait it won't bother me. I'm not a huge PC gamer, I'm mainly getting a new PC for video processing (because my current setup is having heating/processor issues and I can't edit videos without crashing anymore). I doubt I will entirely convert to playing on PC. Maybe some games I'll pick up on Steam, but for the most part I will remain an Xbox gamer for a while.

  • @FireHazard Well what concerns me is that any cross platform progress might be limited to NEW accounts. In other words if I have an active account on Xbox and an active account on Steam, they wouldn't be able to combine them, so instead of having a single DBD account I'm stuck with 2 accounts on 2 platforms.

I hope that whatever system they come up with allows for you to combine accounts, so that progress on both counts all together. If one overwrites the other that would be acceptable too, but in that case I'd be scared of getting reset basically.

I just want to know if this is something they are considering as they move forward with any cross platform anything. Because if necessary I will wait to buy the game on Steam.

  • Would you guys consider re-examining Spirit's post-phase speed curve? It currently feels really bad, almost like it's bugged.

  • I would really like this.

    • You have to play with/against a player to put them on your AVOID list.
    • You can have a maximum of 3 players on your AVOID list at any time.
    • A player has to be on your AVOID list for at least 48 hours (2 days) before they can be removed.
    • A player will stay on your AVOID list for 96 hours (4 days) before being automatically removed.
  • My main issue with the Spirit change is the post-phase speed curve. It's literally like hitting a wall and feels like crap. I hope they change this back to more like how it was.

I also don't agree with Amulet changes. They should have just reduced the numbers instead. I see absolutely no reason to take the speed loss. Unless they make the duration infinite with this, it is now a worthless add-on.

Everything else I can deal with. The vault animation needs to change because it just looks awful, but the concept of it is sound.

  • DBD_ItemTierList.png

Skeleton and Dull keys are effectively the same. Their strength comes from the fact they open the hatch, not from the aura reads. They are both S tier.

Commodious is the best toolbox in the game and incredibly strong. A tier.

Green medkit is A tier and the best medkit now that it heals you so fast. Purple medkit is right behind it because it also heals you fast (just not as fast) and has more charges. Really these two are about equal, but I put the green ahead because healing speed is better than extra charges when you factor in add-ons.

Yellow and white medkits are also about equal. They are notably weaker than the other medkits, but still very useful. B tier.

Purple and green flashlights are useful but considering how easy it is to avoid flashlights they aren't really that great. They are here more because of the threat they pose to killer and less because of their actual strength. B tier.

Yellow toolbox is the next best one because it has the best speed to charge ratio. C tier.

Yellow flashlight is notably weaker than the other two, but still a useful item. C tier.

Purple and mechanic's toolbox are strong but due to only being able to repair a single gen puts them below the other toolboxes. Purple is definitely superior because of speed, but it's not by much. You could argue that they are better than Commodious base when you give them charge add-ons, but then Commodious with speed add-ons is WAY better.

Brown toolbox is useful but only on a single gen and only as a means to counter low level debuffs. D tier.

Rainbow map's main use it to destroy totems. Outside of this purpose it is really kind of useless. Maybe also to track the hatch, but it's not a very good item. D tier.

Alex's toolbox has a very low repair buff, and it's sole purpose is for sabo which is weak anyway. D tier.

Green map is worthless on it's own. It only becomes useful with add-ons (specifically Red Twine to track totems). Using it to track gens is not very useful because it's not hard to find gens. Only time this would be useful for a top tier survivor is on Lery's, and even then not so much. F tier.

Green key is literally useless without add-ons. Worst item in the game by far.

I am a former console Nurse main, who got to rank one every season. I have since transitioned to PC and a I can tell you without a doubt that Nurse is unfairly difficult on console. The survivors have a ton of leeway because killer physically can’t move the camera fast enough to get hits. If anything, she should get buffs on console.

But back to the larger argument, this whole statistics thing is infuriating. The stats “counted” when they showed that Nurse had a high kill rate, but now that she is struggling, they don’t mean anything. I have never seen such blatant, BS cherry-picking.

The stats do not "not mean anything". They mean something, it's just you can't draw all conclusions from stats alone.

More than likely what's happened with her dip in kill rate is that many Nurse "mains" that played only omega blink/extra blink got stomped trying to play the new Nurse because they lost their crutches. It's not cherry picking. It's part of the bigger picture.

I don't disagree that Nurse is unfairly difficult to play on console. But at the same time she's not IMPOSSIBLE to play. With enough practice you can overcome most limitations. I play on 100 sensitivity with Shadowborn and I can turn fast enough to counter most jukes. I can do 180 blinks pretty consistently. It's not impossible, being a rank 1 console Nurse you should know this. But just because she is difficult it doesn't make her weak.

  • @PickCollins said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891481#Comment_891481

"This is because that statistic includes all platforms. Nurse on console is very very difficult to play, and you have a 95% chance to be playing a baby Nurse. On Xbox, I can literally count on 1 hand the number of Nurse's that are good enough to maximize her potential, and let me tell you that 99% of survivors do not stand a chance against them"

And I can count on one hand the number of console Nurses that exist. The number of console Nurses in general has always been statistically insignificant. Her killrate was one of the best before the rework, and even before the rework Nurse was a joke of a killer on console because of all the constraints on console that held her back (constraints that PCs do not have).

"Fact is she is still the best killer in the game on console, it's just harder to get that good with her. So all the baby Nurse's bring down the average. Devs have said that if you just look at PC her killrate is comparable to Freddy/Spirit even after the update."

First of all, no they have not said that. Peanits said her killrate is "climbing back up every day" but that does not mean it is comparable to Spirit or Freddy. For all we know, she could have gone from 65 to like 66 and that's what they consider progress or she could have a 90% killrate at this point (I doubt that any killer, even old vanilla hot off the release Nurse despite how broken she was). But the devs did not say her killrate is comparable to Freddy or Spirit.

Second of all, she is not even the best killer in the game on PC anymore, so how is she supposed to be the best on console when she was never really good on console? Spirit took over red ranks after the Nurse rework. Do you think the Spirit nerfs are gonna magically throw Nurse back to the #1 spot? Bc I promise you that Freddy is taking over red ranks if the Spirit nerfs hurt her as badly as some profess them to. Nurse statistically isn't even in the top 5 for killers anymore. Saying she is #1 is asinine.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/892356#Comment_892356

This is what I have been saying ever since I started playing DBD. Nurse was a perfect example of a healthy killer because she was viable without addons. It was only when her addons came into play that she became a problematic killer. But that wasn't because she didn't need addons in the first place, that was bc her addons had disgustingly overpowered combinations.

Addons should not be mandatory for killers to function, especially when their parallel, items, are not mandatory for survivors to function. BHVR had something good with Nurse basekit and ran it into the ground bc they can't see past their blinders of "survivors are crying and saying they won't play the game anymore if killers get to be strong."

@copperslyI know @CrowFoxy and myself were very adamant against these changes dating back to their arrival on the PTB and If I'm not mistake any posts the two of us made were flat out ignored. The devs only started responding to posts when survivors started whining about instaheals taking a hit.

makes ya wonder who they really care more about. To any dev reading this post, Why did it take only 2 survivors bitching to finally get your guys' attention but pages upon pages of killers against a change isn't worthy of anything?

I'm surprised the devs don't understand the frustration Nurse mains are feeling rn. We got lied to and ignored every step of the way through this rework. At this point I feel like I'm torturing myself by playing Nurse but I'm still playing her. It feels like ######### for the devs to do something like this.

I don't give a ######### if Nurse is the worst killer in the game. I really don't. I've always maintained that if Nurse is fun, I don't care where she is on the tier list. But the fact of the matter is that she isn't fun. And the reason she is bad is also why she isn't fun. Her identity of being a power intensive killer got stripped from her and nothing was granted to her as any kind of compensation. Now she's a messy bedsheet of a killer.

@Weederick @thesuicidefox @Helevetin_nopee If any of you 3 played Nurse for longer than the time it takes to do your dailies with ur lvl 1 prestige 0 Nurse, you'd understand the frustration Nurse mains have. But you don't. That's okay, but stop acting like you know more than you do. Bc those of us that do know what we're talking about are insulted by the lack of an intellectual argument in favor of these changes.

"lvl 1 Nurse for dailies" LOL stop assuming things. You know what happens when you assume things right?

Dude I have an entire account dedicated to playing just Nurse and Huntress. I got to rank 5 JUST playing Nurse this season, and I honestly wasn't even trying for rank I was playing for BP on that account. I don't just play her once a month. I play her quite a lot. She is not weak on console, just really hard to play and requires a lot of practice and dedication to use properly. Again if you could play against any of the red rank Nurse mains you'd see she is definitely not at all weak. They are some of the deadliest killers at red ranks, consistently.

And on both my main and my alt she is level 50 with most perks. I don't prestige my killers unless I like their bloody skins, and for Nurse I play with cosmetics anyway so tell me why it's important she is prestiged?? Has NOTHING to do with skill or time played.

She is still the strongest killer in the game. Period. Just because her kill rate dipped doesn't mean she is bad. More than likely it means a lot of Nurse "mains" that played nothing but omega blink/multi-blink found out how bad they actually were without that super OP stuff. But players that were actually good Nurse players still dominate with her, even on console.

As the devs have said NUMEROUS times at this point... the stats are not everything. Just because her kill rate dropped doesn't mean she's suddenly a bad killer. Her potential to win is still insanely high, how you can ignore this is beyond me honestly. Just the sheer FACT she can teleport at will puts her far and above most killers in the game.

Really the entire fact you think she is weak on console proves how little you know about the situation. She is not weak. She is hard to play. Those players that dedicated the time to playing her are some of the best killers on the platform. The reason she's "a joke" on console is because majority of players don't put in that time to get good with her because she is so hard to play. Therefore, when you encounter a Nurse they are going to be really bad because they barely play her. Same with Huntress. This artificially drops her kill rate.

Get off your high horse please.

  • It is almost completely random. However the web will favor lower rarity perks over higher rarity, and it seems like it will try to give you the same perk until you get all tiers (not 100% sure on this one).

So if a tier 1 perk is yellow rarity, and another tier 1 perk is green rarity, you will more likely see the yellow one. But if it's tier 2 is green, you will more likely see that over the tier 1 green perk.

  • Probably because most people have only seen it written and not spoken.

Also the fact that it is a "fear of CLowns" people will want to pronounce it "CLourophobia".

That said I can't pronounce it right either 😥

they are just like legacy cosmetics

    • both required grinding even if it required more grinding for legacy
    • both were time limited and have been around longer than the store
    • both have never been available to be purchased

Also the devs never promised anything and AGAIN comparing the blight events to the ones before the store is laughable. The blight events gave out multiple cosmetics for a lot less grinding and you could buy them right away where as the post store events only gave one cosmetic for the same or more grinding. Having these blight skins doesn't feel special because they are easy to get and you can buy them, its just nice that you could get a few for free if you grinded but again they don't feel special compared to the other event cosmetics.

edit: if you want facts than here's one. this post/thread wont change anything but ill still argue why your opinion is wrong. this is the internet after all.

    "a lot less grinding"

I guess you miss the part where I said you can earn the old event cosmetics in less than 50 games, which is 4 a day for 2 weeks or about 1-2 hours of play time. If you played more on the weekends it was even easier. 50 games is not a grind at all. You could do that in a single weekend. Less if you used offerings every game.

Stop saying it was a "grind" to get them it wasn't. I found it super easy to get the event items I got from just playing normally. It's not even close to a comparison to legacy grind.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891995#Comment_891995

actually there is one, the store was not out when they had the events so the only way to get them was to earn them and its been like that since the events. also they are just like legacy in the way they were earned and guess what legacy will never be available to buy or earn again.

Doesn't change the fact that 1) they are not legacy items, they are event items just like Blight, and 2) the store exists now.

Devs said legacy will never be available again. If they go back on this promise I support those that oppose it. They never said the same thing about old event cosmetics. In fact we were told we are getting them and they went back on that promise, so in a sense they are more obliged to provide them to us than deny them.

  • This has been a thing on Xbox for a while. I won't name it or explain it, but there is a way to completely circumvent DC punishments (depip, lose of items, not time outs because that's not on console yet). You can tell it happens because they DC with no sound. And while some instances are legit crashes or internet connections, most are doing this exploit. It's pretty obvious because they do it to give another hatch, or when they are about to die.

If what you say is true then the devs need to start punishing for any DC, regardless of how it happens. Sucks for those that legit have technical issues.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891934#Comment_891934

Because they understood how those people felt and they had good points as to why those cosmetics should not be given out when those players earned them. Even if it was complaining they listened which tells us that they agreed and when you think about how much this community complains and gets swept aside than complaining might as well be considered pointing out.

There is ZERO reason they can't put the items in the store for auric cells. NONE. All other event cosmetics are in the store to be purchased with money.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891915#Comment_891915

IF and IF you mean complaining as in pointing out than my argument still stands

It was complaining. You're not pointing out anything to them they wouldn't have already have known. This isn't a bug report where they had no idea. They knew. Therefore the only reason they would have gone back on their word is because people made it a problem.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891888#Comment_891888

dude you literally said that the game was unplayable during an event and again its not a good comparison because of how much time you needed to put into the game, if you were a average player getting most of these cosmetics was impossible. Lastly go read what they said about taking them out of the list of free cosmetics because one of the points was that they are not code exclusive and were earned just like legacy and the devs didn't consider this point until it was pointed out to them.

It was unplayable but if it were it would have been easy. The fact I had technical issues doesn't change the difficulty of earning said cosmetics. You could get them in less than 50 games. That's pretty easy to do.

"the devs didn't consider this point until it was pointed out to them"

No they didn't consider it until people complained. There is a difference.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891858#Comment_891858

The main reason the devs are giving out those cosmetics is because they were being sold and abused. they included all exclusives because they all are like this but overlooked the event cosmetics which are not like that and that's why they went back on their word. I already explained why your being selfish so lets skip that and btw bingo is luck based and doesn't take multiple hours to complete so poor comparison.

No they went back on their word because people made a big stink about it. Had that not happened they wouldn't have tried to find a work around.

And it is a good comparison because you did literally nothing special to "earn" them. You just played the game as you normally would have.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891378#Comment_891378

the devs put the event cosmetics in the list of paid/code cosmetics since they were including all exclusives and when the community called them out on it the devs understood since these cosmetics are different in which that they were earned and can't be abused like the others on the list since they are not code related. they are special because they are part of the few cosmetics in these game that were earned and can't be bought in any way just like legacy and having one shows that you put up with the BS of this game to get them. You even said it yourself the game was unplayable and crashed constantly. You think your the only one who had this problem? tons of people put up with it and still got the cosmetic despite it taking way longer than it should have. If anyone here is selfish it's you dude for being inconsiderate and greedy because you want something you never earned even if it screws over the people's feelings that did earn it.

Yet even though I had this problem, I have no issue with them giving away the cosmetics I did earn. So tell me again how that's selfish. If Blight cosmetics weren't paid and ONLY earned through events I'd be fine with that too, despite earning a large chunk of them myself.

Fact remains, devs said they would give it out and then went back on that promise because some people demand that others don't get access to stuff they "earned", which a a generous term to say the least. You earned them about as much as grandma earned her Bingo.

Yea I would disregard the sounds. Seems like they get messed up every patch. While it hurts her, it's not something intentional.

I still think she is S tier, it's more that her post-phase feels like crap is all. Like I can still clearly outplay survivors, it just feels worse.

When you explain it in that way I can see your point.

I suppose allowing it to be bought in the store wouldn't be a big deal. I just think the novelty of it being an event item might be lost slightly. You're right in saying that we did get it for free and that does seem a reasonable reward for playing the event. Thank you for explaining your point of view, I appreciate it.

I think my main issue was that it was being reduced to an issue of selfishness and greed. I wasn't protesting the store idea because I'm selfish and materialistic, I just had a different experience during the event.

Yes I'm not the type to just REEEE and people for being selfish or greedy, but when the devs say they will give it out for free and people make a big stink about it then they go back on that deal, I'm going to call it for what it is.

Sorry if I came off as hostile. I am just not easily persuaded by the herd mentality.

I don't think this has anything to do with autoaim. I started experiencing this bug on dedicated servers. Also it has nothing to do with near by objects, sometimes I miss a chainsaw in the middle of nowhere against a survivor running in a straight line.

It works the other way too. I've been chainsawed through objects. I've chainsawed survivors through trees. It's so blatant that I even go "sorry dude IDK what happened" when I did it.

I think this is a hitbox issue not an auto aim issue.

I genuinely apologize if I'm not explaining my point well. I'm not exactly sure how to describe what I mean about the events being different.

I've participated in all of the events Dead by Daylight has had since release and (to me at least), the New Year Events and the Scorching Summer BBQ were significantly more difficult and time-consuming than the Blight ones. In the New Year and BBQ events I had to play with the specific intention of completing the event to earn tokens whereas with the Hallowed Blight I could just earn the Putrid Serum while playing fairly normally.

It could be less tied to the event itself and more to do with the matchmaking for me. I found a lot of games in the New Year and BBQ events where teammates would intentionally throw the game or survivors would sabotage event hooks etc. I also didn't have a lot of luck with finding event offerings in my bloodweb. I suppose it has something to do with RNG.

But in terms of how you got those points, you did the same thing, gens and hooks. I played all the events as well and I found no difference between the difficulty of getting the points.

Again the only reason I didn't get the Wolf Mask is because the game was LITERALLY unplayable. And not just for me but a lot of my friends. Survivor was playable enough to actually make progress, but killer would just hard crash the game almost every time. Hard crash means potential lose of game progress and even potential damage to my Xbox. Therefore I avoided playing killer during the event because I had no choice.

But had I been able to play I would have easily gotten the Wolf Mask. EASILY. It wasn't difficult at all to do the event objectives. And this is my entire point, if there is no difference between the old events and the Blight events, what does it matter if they offer the skins for auric cells? You still got it for free, while I would have to pay money. I think that's more than a fair deal for you.

No, I do not have a problem with that. I've already explained that I believe that the Blight events and the Summer BBQ and New Year events worked differently and so they should not be treated as the same.

Dude they work the exact same. It's just the way the currency worked that was the difference. For HG/BBQ events, you just earn points directly towards the cosmetics. For Blight you earned currency which is then used to purchase cosmetics of your choice. But functionally, in terms of what you did to get either points, was the same for all the events. The first blight event was slightly different, but at the same time it did not require you to go too far out of the way to earn them.

There is no difference. I really don't understand how you can say there is when all you did was get hooks or repair gens in these events.

You can spend your money how you want. I never said otherwise.

I've already mentioned that it has nothing to do with selfishness. I don't want to keep the skins all to myself. I do not have a problem with other people unlocking the skins. I just believe that they should be obtainable in events rather than through the store. I would have zero complaint about the developers bringing the old event skins back for a new event. That way new players could obtain them and older players don't feel like they wasted time playing when they could just buy them.

Yet Blight event skins can be purchased through the store, do you have a problem with that?

If no, then you are being a hypocrite.

There is really no issue with putting them in the store for auric cells. NONE. Blight skins already work this way so it'd make sense for ALL event skins to work this way. If you earned them from the event, you got it for free and I wouldn't call that a waste.

I'm not going to "stop acting" like I had to actively participate in an event to earn them because it isn't an act at all. You're just dismissing my point entirely without acknowledging what I'm saying. Repeating that it was a "cake walk" is ignoring the fact that I've said multiple times different people had different experiences with the event. Not everyone found it as easy as your suggesting.

As I just explained, the Blight events and the previous ones worked differently. I'm not going to explain again.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891448#Comment_891448

I could call the people who want the cosmetics selfish because they're not considering the people who earned them during the event. Calling everyone else "selfish" doesn't validate either the argument for either side and isn't constructive to the conversation at all.

"Repeating that it was a "cake walk" is ignoring the fact that I've said multiple times different people had different experiences with the event. Not everyone found it as easy as your suggesting."

Except that it was easy. You just play the game normally. There was nothing special about what you did. If you found it more difficult that doesn't change the fact you could EASILY earn the skins in less than 50 games. That's 4 games per day for a 2 week event. That's like an hour of playtime, at most 2. If you played extra on the weekends it was even easier. Just because YOU found it difficult doesn't make it difficult.

"As I just explained, the Blight events and the previous ones worked differently. I'm not going to explain again."

They really didn't. The first Blight event had a special objective, but that was still easy to do (in fact most survivors would just rush the plants and die on first hook to get the vials faster). For killer it was as easy as hooking a survivor and hitting the lantern. Wow yea, that's really difficult.

The ONLY thing that worked different was the method by which the skins were unlocked, and the fact that Blight skins can be purchased with money. THAT IS IT. There would literally be no difference if they offered older event skins in the store for auric cells. It's the exact same thing.

"I could call the people who want the cosmetics selfish because they're not considering the people who earned them during the event. Calling everyone else "selfish" doesn't validate either the argument for either side and isn't constructive to the conversation at all."

Yet it is selfish to insist that you be the only ones to have an item after the devs said they would give them out because you feel like you did something special for an event that really wasn't all that special. If the devs said "we will never give away these skins" then went back on that, then no you're not being selfish for that. But they never said that, so you guys don't have a leg to stand on.

Again, if the devs never promised to give them out I wouldn't complain. The fact that they did, then went back on the promise, all because selfish people wanted to keep their exclusives away from everyone else, is where the problem lies. Like really, explain to me what is the problem if they put them in the store for auric cells? You earned them for FREE during an event, I paid money for them. Who are you to say I can't spend my money how I want?

There's nothing selfish about wanting the devs to stick to their word and not go back on it.

  • I didn't read the whole thing I'm just going to address #4.

Kicking would be abused by some survivors that want to troll others. Imagine doing that on purpose to get someone else killed. That's what will happen.

As for revealing perks, I kinda like the idea you can see their perks, but I think it should only work for BT and We'll Make It because those are the two important ones. Show them as the blue icon if they will activate when you get saved (ie. you see the BT icon if BT will proc on your unhook). Showing their entire build is unnecessary and cumbersome though.

By that logic you can make the same statement about Leatherface or Billy. "No other killer has an instadown in their kit! Bubba's can even hit multiple survivors!!! OP! NERF! IDC HOW BAD HE IS IN RED RANKS".

If Nurse, the hardest killer in the game ever since she got dropped to 2 blinks and made not 4.6 MS, cannot be used to the same lethal effect in red ranks as she used to with the new addons vs how she was without, then there's a ######### issue. No killer should be taken from that high up and be comparable to CLOWN statistically and be about as unfun to play as, as Spirit was to play against.

Assuming her pickrate never changed, she would have had one of the best killrates at around 72%, now she is the 3rd worst killrate killer in the entire game at red ranks. There is an issue with the killer if red rank killers cannot make her work.

So no, I'm not gonna "miss" you with this. She's not the strongest killer anymore. Suck it up and learn that Nurse =/= OP.

"Assuming her pickrate never changed, she would have had one of the best killrates at around 72%, now she is the 3rd worst killrate killer in the entire game at red ranks."

This is because that statistic includes all platforms. Nurse on console is very very difficult to play, and you have a 95% chance to be playing a baby Nurse. On Xbox, I can literally count on 1 hand the number of Nurse's that are good enough to maximize her potential, and let me tell you that 99% of survivors do not stand a chance against them. And the 1% that does only does if they are SWF. I'm friends with 3 of them, and I play Nurse myself very well at red ranks (though I don't consider myself on their level).

Fact is she is still the best killer in the game on console, it's just harder to get that good with her. So all the baby Nurse's bring down the average. Devs have said that if you just look at PC her killrate is comparable to Freddy/Spirit even after the update.

  • I feel like they should have left the Dash cooldown alone and just remove the flick. Then PC and console players would be on even ground.

But the fact flick still exists means there is a huge discrepancy, and apparently the cooldown doesn't make a lick of difference in terms of balance except to hinder those that can't flick (console players).

Although from the 'known issues' section under the patch notes it seems flick isn't meant to be there anyway. If that's the case, remove it and revert the dash cooldown change.

It's not "selfish people" making a fuss. You're reducing the situation and the arguments of people who don't agree with you as them just being horrible people.

They're called event cosmetics. The developers should just make them available in future events to be fair to both sides.

It is selfish, because no one complains about the fact you can buy Blight cosmetics. It's literally the same thing, but for some reason it's only a problem with the older event skins. THAT is what makes it selfish.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/891378#Comment_891378

I have no issue with future events being handled in this way. The Blight events are tied into the Rift and just playing the game normally allows you to earn to event currency.

However, the old events like the Scorching Summer BBQ and Chinese New Year events didn't work in this way. You had to spend a relatively long time grinding through bloodwebs to get event offerings and then go out of your way in trials to obtain them. The added pressure of players just trying to make the event difficult worsened this.

Another event were these old cosmetics were obtainable would be fine. It's just the act of buying them which seems unfair. If people put time and work into it then others shouldn't just be able to buy them without doing anything in-game.

Contrary to what you're stating it isn't about being "selfish". I don't see anything wrong with others having the same cosmetic. The issue is with how it was obtained. You're complaining about us making a "huge fuss" when you're just as involved in the debate as well. If there is really "nothing special" about these cosmetics then why is it so unfair that not everyone has them?

The cosmetics should just be available in future events. That way people have a chance to earn then if they missed out the first time and those who spent time earning them don't feel like they wasted their time.

"You had to spend a relatively long time grinding through bloodwebs to get event offerings and then go out of your way in trials to obtain them. "

Dude you got literally 2-3 event offerings per web. It got to a point where I was literally avoiding them as much as possible because it was a waste of BP. I have like 30 flowers from the last event left over on my Ghostface. My friend has over 100. Stop acting like it was that hard to get the events stuff done. It wasn't. It was a cake walk, and you didn't even need to go out of your way to earn it. Just play the game normally.

"It's just the act of buying them which seems unfair"

Yet the Blight cosmetics work this way and no one seems to care at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"If there is really "nothing special" about these cosmetics then why is it so unfair that not everyone has them?"

See my previous comment for why it's a big deal. Devs said they would give them out, then went back on that promise. Had they never said anything I really wouldn't care.

  • @fcc2014 said:

@thesuicidefox You stated you earned 3/4 cosmetics but not the Huntress mask, if i could gift it to you i would because this really seems to have affected you and i have actually never equipped the mask or most of the items I earned.

You basically have tried to invalidated people who did earn it by saying the process to earn it was easy so why don't you have it?? Oh right game kept crashing, offerings not working, was probed by space aliens that weekend etc etc etc....

Seriously let it go. Game is broke for killers and survivors right now and you are having a nervous breakdown over a cosmetic you didn't earn but want anyway. We don't always get what we want.

I could say the same to people that insist they DON'T give them away for free. "Just let it go". It's not a big deal, you already have the skin it doesn't affect you. You got to have it for over a year, that should be plenty to satisfy your "commitment" to the game.

The game was flat broken for me that entire event. Many of my friends as well. The game was just a mess, and I know people that got neither cosmetic because of that BS (also some of the BBQ skins for some people). I have ZERO problems with the devs giving away free cosmetics. Even the Blight cosmetics, if they want to give them away for free I'm fine with that. Except that you can also get them for money, so because of that I would not agree. If something was available for monetary purchase and you gave it away for free I'd object. But if it was purely from events, then no I'd be fine with it.

Look the devs said they would give them away. People made a stink and now they are going back on that deal. THAT is what I have an issue with. The devs saying they will do something, selfish people making a fuss over literally nothing, then they go back on that promise.

Devs have said many times they will NOT EVER give out legacy for free or give out a new way to earn it (with the * that they might if they could find a way to give it to people that earned it but then lost it). If they go back on that promise and give them out, I would agree with people that complain. If they NEVER said this and then give them out, I'd have no problem with it.

The entire issues stems from them promising something then going back on that promise. If they never promised they would give away these skins, I wouldn't care. But the fact they DID and then went BACK on that promise, all because people made a big stink about it when it really doesn't even matter to them, is what bothers me about this situation.

I'm not going to argue over semantics. If you want to call me selfish you can. Nobody is getting denied anything. If players didn't earn the cosmetics then I don't see why people are entitled to them. It's literally the exact same as legacy, if you didn't earn the skins when they were available then they shouldn't become available again.

The difference it makes is that the event cosmetics are rewards for players who have played the game for a long enough time to have participated in the events and for those who obtained them by participating in the events. Giving them away removes their special factor and means that they are no longer symbolic of the time people put into the game during the event. Paying for them and receiving them instantly isn't fair for the people who gained them by persevering during the event.

There's nothing special about these cosmetics.

Devs said they were going to give them out. Bunch of selfish people made a huge fuss, so the devs found a way around it. You got to have it exclusively for over a year, that's plenty to compensate your for the time you put into getting them (which again was nothing).

Meanwhile people that earned them and lost them get screwed out of them. People like me that literally could not earn them because the game was broken get screwed out of them. And people who just happened to not have been playing DBD during that time get screw out of them. Bravo.

Devs need to add them to the store for purchase or give us another event for a chance to earn them. Blight events are a perfect example of how these cosmetics should be handled. You can earn them during the event. If you miss out, you can wait until the next event or pay for them. No one has a problem with this at all, but suddenly do it with previous event cosmetics and people have a conniption.

"People that use a controller are as incompetent with aiming as most people think"

I'm guessing you meant "aren't" and yes I agree. As someone who plays console all the time I can aim just fine without it. (especially games with sniping...nothing worst than having auto aim slightly pull your cross-hairs away when someone walks by your perfectly lined up shot...)

Yes I will fix that LOL.

Also what you describe with sniping is my EXACT issue with Halo 5's aim assist. OMG it's so blatant when the crosshair moves on it's own to track someone when you didn't even touch the stick.

I even turn it off in Overwatch for the short time I played it. All you need to do is find the right settings and you are set, no need for aim assist because it will just screw you.

How is it selfish? I just explained that I don't feel entitled to legacy cosmetics nor skins which I did not earn. It's not selfish to place value on things you spent time on earning. "Selfish" suggests that I don't want others to have them out of malice or spite which is not true at all. I personally don't feel entitled to code-related exclusives which I didn't get and I don't feel entitled to legacy. Therefore, I don't see why people should be able to purchase event cosmetics when they didn't earn them. You can think it's selfish if you want but I've explained my reasons.

Legacy and event skins are comparable; both event skins and legacy were earned during a timed event. If event skins among with other exclusives are going to be released to stop new players feeling left out then the same should apply for legacy. It's not something I personally want but if the reason they should be released is because it's "selfish" to withhold them, then ALL cosmetics should be held to that standard - including legacy.

As aforementioned, the event cosmetics may not have taken you personally long to unlock, although it did for others. People may have had busy schedules during the events and subsequently had to find time to play both effectively and efficiently to obtain the cosmetics. For those who adjusted or cancelled plans to play the event, the cosmetics are just as meaningful as legacy to those who have it.

It's selfish because you already earned them and feel you should deny other players access to them. Like what difference does it make to you really? You got to have exclusive access to the skins for well over a year, that's more than enough to compensate you for your time.

  • I disagree. /troll

    LOL

But in all seriousness yea they need to have an option to turn it off. People that use a controller are NOT as incompetent with aiming as most people think. I play Borderlands with high sensitivity and aim assist turned off and have 0 problems aiming at crit spots. In fact I hate aim assist in most console games. Halo 5 was so annoying to deal with and was so unnecessary. It messes me up more than it helps. Maybe for baby controller users it helps, but anyone that's been playing with a controller for a long time shouldn't have a problem aiming.

I played the game during the legacy event, I'm aware of the difficulty to obtain it. You're stating that the reason the event cosmetics should be given out is because you just had to play the game and they were given to you. This is true for legacy as well. Progressing through the game normally is how you obtained legacy. All you had to do is prestige which is a significant part of the game which most players will do just by normal gameplay.

You might have found the event cosmetics easy to obtain but not everyone had enjoyable or easy matches as aforementioned.

Legacy took a lot of time to unlock. Event cosmetics did not. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. Stop comparing them.

In one case you play maybe at most 50 games. That can easily be done in the 2 weeks or whatever time the event lasted. That's about 4 games a day.

Legacy took several hundred games to unlock because of how grindy it was. Not to mention it's basically like a beta skin because it was so early in the game's development.

It seriously boggles my mind how selfish some people are.

See, sometimes you don't intend to tunnel, and you still get stabbed, I've stabbed killers that have completely downed and hooked a survivor, and came over to me, I jumped in a locker, and stabbed him when he pulled me out. I wouldn't call that tunneling, and the only counter is to waste time and wait, when you're unhooked and you go to a locker immediately, the killer can't do anything about that for 60 seconds. There is physically no counterplay that doesnt result in the survivor getting away within that time frame, the only counterplay is to wait 60 seconds and apply no pressure, it isn't tunneling when a survivor who was saved from a hook to take hits for their friend from the chase and have invincibility from being hooked for the duration of their perk.

Doesn't matter, killer should be paying attention to how long it's been since they hooked you. And jumping in a locker is a dead give-away you have DS. If the killer grabs you that is 100% their fault. You baited them, they took it. OUTPLAYED.

And there is a counter play. Slug them. Go for another survivor. Slugging is super effective at slowing the game, especially if you have Sloppy. I had a game as Spirit on Ward the other day, I returned to a hook and saw the Feng jump into a locker. Even though it was her death hook and I already tunneled her once kinda, I just said okay screw you and went for the Ace instead. There were no gens near her and she was so scared to leave the locker I'm pretty sure she stayed in there until the Ace went down. I still won that game easily.

Using this logic then everyone should get legacy as well. Legacy was obtained through normal progression of the game and was nothing "special" about it.

I personally don't have legacy (although I played the game while legacy was still available). I didn't put enough time and effort into obtaining it and so I don't feel in any way entitled to it. The event cosmetics should be treated the same. I don't see legacy being exclusive as me being denied it. It's just that I didn't earn it and so I have no entitlement to have it.

The difference between event cosmetics and legacy is that legacy was actually VERY HARD to obtain. It required a significant amount of time dedicated to the game. Event cosmetics didn't. You play normally and could get it in less than 50 games. That is a cake walk. Legacy by comparision would take a few hundred games. They aren't even in the same league dude.

You didn't earn the event cosmetics. You played the game and they handed it out to you. Like I said I got 3 of the 4 easily by just playing normally. I missed out on one because the game was literally in an unplayable state, so yea I was robbed of the cosmetic because the game didn't work. Explain to me how that's fair.

Despite that I would have no issue giving these skins out to everyone. It's been well over a year since either event, you got to have them exclusively all that time. No reason to deny other players from having it.

If they had a new event for legacy skins I would support it. But unlike the event cosmetics, they were significantly more difficult to earn. More difficult than Withered Blight. So you can't be applying the same logic here.

1 … 43 44 45 46 47 … 147
