Graphics overhaul to make the game more atmospheric.

I need either for sabo to be made faster OR for there to be less hooks on the map. Either (or both?) would make sabo perfectly viable.
We don't need the hooks to be permanently disabled. That's boring for the killer and then the match becomes a slug fest.
And to the person who said sabo should be removed, sabo is the ONLY reason I use toolboxes. Using toolboxes on gens is for scrubs (unless it's those stupid toolboxes that don't have a sabo option)
Yeah perhaps less hooks on the map could work.. but they recently INCREASED the amount of hooks per map so idk
-
I just saw on a stream, it looks so weird now
-
Got a pic?

@ad19970 said:
I mean, if you sabotage hooks, the killer will just slugg everyone. Problem is, Sabotage prevents the killer from doing their objective, but it doesn't help you as a survivor in any way really.
I would love if sabotage wouldn't destroy hooks, but maybe have a different effect. Like increasing the Bleed Out timer to combat camping killers and give survivors more time for the unhook. Don't know though if this would be effective enough so that it would be worth doing.
But that's just another passive perk. I love sabotage because you ACTIVELY use it in game, and it has an effect on the environment.
-
Yeah less hooks would work. It seems that when you sabotage, the killer can just mosey on off to another hook within 15m

Well I think the main reason why we don’t get much use out it is because of how much time it takes to sabotage and it isn’t rewarding enough for how long it takes to sabotage hooks. Sabotaging hooks faster seems like the right direction to go about it.
But it only stays broken for 3.5 minutes
-
@Star99er said:
Sabotage speed without a toolbox is 40% slower instead of 50%. Would be a nice buff.
I don't mind the speed right now, more that there's no real use to sabotaging hooks right now

Man... imagining a hillbilly and leatherface chase music. I'd be in love
-
The atmosphere is really sexy on the new map. Wish old maps were like it
-
It's good as is. I wouldn't want to never see a map again because it's never voted.
-
The game wasn't designed around voice comms. So it's a you problem that you can't hear your PS4 party.
-
I don't agree. New players don't know how to effectively use dead hard.
-
The game is now dead in daylight. I miss the old lighting

The game is losing players due to bugs, glitches, bad hotboxes, and zero gameplay changes. The games has stayed the same for 3 years! End game collapse was the only major change to the gameplay and it isn't even a big deal. Long term players are leaving because the game hasn't changed enough. It's just do gens and leave. Nothing else.
LMAO you really just said End Game Collapse was the only big gameplay change. There has been tonnes of gameplay changes, for one, breaking generators wasn't there from the start of the game.

The game can be fun I agree fully! I have fun too otherwise I wouldn't play it. But currently I am facing lots of toxic killers and survivors that just DC/suicide or just afk. I can blame them and I do sometimes but many times its the killer that just plays tryhard like. Sweaty. I can't describe it better thh. To me and don't missunderstand me ,its just a feeling just an opinion of mine, its getting less funny atm. I can't count myself as the average survivor who plays with the same perks all time or just plays the same all time. I try out stuff and builds and make my own. Half of my friends left the game too for months. The new release of ghostface didn't drag them in. Content is a good way to lure people into it again but if the fun factor is out the options of viable and not just situational perks gone then its getting boring. So yes it isn't in a bad state yet but I fear it will be soon enough if that continues. I don't want to play SWF all the time to have fun I don't want to be forced into SWF to "win" all the time. And I don't want to use DS all the time just to ensure that I am not being tunneled or camped all the time.
You don't have to play SWF to win..
Idk man, I never experience tunneling or camping as much as you say you do.
-
It's really not "in a bad state", the game has been in MUCH worse condition before. Compared to the past, the game is in it's most playable and balanced state. The playerbase is not losing the amount of people that some are saying, it's like a 2% decrease in 1 month, hardly any players, which will jump again the next chapter release.
The game is very fun.
-
What rank are you?
I personally love versing nurses because they really test my skills in juking using line of sight and mindgames.

Yamaoka's map. It took all the worst parts of old swamp, doubled down, and added a slice of that one long Autohaven map to make things worse. It's the only map that I sincerely contemplate d/cing on when I get it.
It's no fun as killer because map pressure is damn near impossible due to the fact that it's huge, chases are rough because it has a multitude of jungle gyms and completely safe, unmindgameable pallets, and *I can't see anything*
It's no fun as survivor because traversing from one end to the other takes 7 years, it has that frustrating baseline New Moon offering darkness, and, speaking of which, *I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING*
Edit: Changed a [BAD WORD] out with "anything" in two places. I'm sure you can guess what it was though.
Uhhhh "it has that frustrating baseline New Moon offering darkness"... you probably just need a new monitor. Yamaoka's map is hardly dark

It helped him a little bit but he still needs a lot of QoL changes and some major buffs to his power.
Yeah I agree. His design and pressure gives him potential to be a very strong killer if they buff him.

Good ole dbd man i miss these times the game was a crap game dont get me wrong it still is but back during these times it just felt awesome RIP Ole Dead by Daylight it'll never come back.
People now complain about balance but remember back then there was literally no balance at all players now are cuddled compared to back then.
Yeah legit, the game is so much more balanced now. I still remember the ole machine gun build and an M1 killer being able to down a team of 4 in the basement in under 10 seconds

The graphics changes in 2017, 2016 graphics were the best

Something I remembered after reading this, Myers's Tombstone add-on that allows us to instantly kill Survivors, before I used it I legit thought it gave him a 2nd Mori animation where he used his sister's tombstone to kill the Survivor; I was disappointed.
Maybe one day all Killers could get a 2nd Mori but probably not.
Where tf would he pull out a tombstone from hahaha

I'm honestly glad that there's 5 variations of the same map. When you learn a map completely it gets pretty repetitive and boring to play on. Variation adds excitement, and uncertainty is a good thing.
-
Would love to get some input from the devs around this topic so I can either put it to rest or get excited for changes <3

I have to agree, the atmosphere of the game is more important to me than perfect visibility. If the one black lady in the game is so damn OP, just adjust her clothing so she's as noticeable as the other survivors. The visuals as they are now are atrocious for 2019, let alone 2016.
Literally, just change the visibility of Claudette's clothes.

Not really... or if It is, I just don't remember it.
It plays at the start of each Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie and multiple times throughout

@Raven014 said:
Maybe not that sound in particular, but there are a bunch of other jarring sounds that could be good for that concept.
But that sound is literally leatherface's iconic sound.

@JawsIsTheNextKiller said:
The killers really need to see the survivors. It really was ridiculous before the Blendette nerf.
They could just change the lighting for survivors so that survivors get the atmosphere and killers get the visual clarity. I'm sure the Entity would have given the killers better vision in their welcome packs.
I'm fine with survivors getting darker light.
-
@Raven014 said:
Wouldn't that make Knockout, useless on him, since they know the general area in which he downed a survivor?
No as in a global sound that survivors hear across the map
-
@Peanits even in this thread you can see no one is opposing the idea and everyone supports it
-
Yeah and they changed the L4D2 shirt to have red rims to be more visible. Instead of making the game brighter, they should have just made claudettes clothes brighter like they did with that l4d2 shirt.
I don't care about stealth. I'm a laurie main and her clothes aren't really stealthy and I don't have that playstyle. I just want the atmosphere of the graphics back.
-
-
@Peanits said:
It's definitely possible, but it was actually changed in the first place due to popular demand. As you've mentioned though, if we did decide to switch back, it would be a very low priority.
Not to seem rude or anything, but I've seen many comments on here and reddit that have gained lots of upvotes asking for the return of the darker and more atmospheric lobby. I've been playing since September 2016 and I never remember any posts about the lobby colour
-
Australia has a large playerbase and I really really really hope we get dedicated servers :/ it would suck to be left out like that especially since our ping would be horrendous if we joined far servers in US and stuff
-
Same here, my fps is in the 90s for other killers but when playing freddy its in like 45-55
-
Definitely the lighting and graphics changes. The old graphics were so much better
-
@BlueFang said:
Oh look another DBD is dying thread
Wow it's not like people have said that for the last 4 years
Legitttt, I remember though one time everyone thought dbd was REALLY dying was the start of 2017. The devs really managed to pick it up off its feet and create an even larger playerbase
-
Brutal strength definitely needs a buff.
-
A pallet breaking speed increase for each tier would be nice.
I.e. Tier 1 has default pallet breaking speed, tier 2 has a little faster, tier 3 has fastest
-
Lmaoooo the z wall is the tiny wall with one window that you see on the edges of the map
-
Wait I'm confused what POV are you referring to
-
Can we buff sole survivor pls

If this is the case, the Nurse should be reverted back to her godlier version, since Hillbilly is broken as hell from a balance standpoint.
His base kit is not broken.

It still causes a detriment to survivors, just not one that can last an infinite amount of time. The lowest time for an exhaustion add-on is 30 seconds, while running this would be a full minute before the survivor could use their exhaustion perk. I don't know if you assumed I meant that by using these add-ons, all exhaustion would recover while running, I meant only the exhaustion caused by these add-ons. Exhaustion caused by exhaustion perks would still work as it does now.
I'm so confused. You must be confused with the old exhausation, where it recovered while running. Exhaustion doesn't recover while running... But you're trying to make the KILLER addons make exhaustion recover while running?
-
It's killer wallhacks as well. It has a significant downside that the killer can see you.
