  • Lately, there have been a few disconnects in my SWF and also killers that we face while they were mid chase. I'm thinking these disconnects are more server related than hacking since none of my friends hack in this game. Cheat maybe with comms--that's right I said it--

    but not hack.

Thanks do you know if suttle cheaters can crash the game? it might have just been the game but just wanting to know if thats a thing

Maybe, but at the same time I know people are crashing from randomness. I've crashed, my friends have, and so have killers in mid chase so I know they're not stopping to DC. Lately when I crash, it shows me disconnecting with the killer. Sometimes I get a DC penalty, sometimes not.

You have the option to dismiss them I believe. I’m not too savvy on options these days but I believe it is an option to not have to see them. I could very easily be wrong too.

Hey you're right. You click on the cogwheel and "Dismiss" them. Presto chango. Thanks dude.

Taking a break from gaming in general? That sounds like a good idea but yeah i don't know what to do that's fun other then gaming.

No, take a break from DBD. This game should not be taken that seriously- it's not balanced for it.

  • A lot of times you can see the writing on the wall; it's faster to just go next than delaying the inevitable, all for a few more thousand BP, but with a lot of frustration. I'm betting most people are just hoping for a more fun experience the next game.

  • I can respect that. The last 3 are definitely up there and way better than 4-8.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

Really, they ought to put in a system where, when all 5 players are in the lobby, their previous map they each played on is automatically removed from the pool of available maps (map offerings being an exception to the rule).

And yeah, sure, the Halloween event has had the community choose which maps appear more often, but this would prevent the repetitive situation you found yourself in.

I like this idea. I don't like playing on the same map twice in a row. I also don't like the same killer twice in a row. Maybe they can implement some option for this.

Definitely just the last 3 for me. Poor William Shatner, his face was done no justice in the first 7 movies.

Man what do you mean. The first mask is the best of them all!

Not really even if a team lost you can still say well played, take soccer the final score is 3-1 and you have won but those 3 goals was out of i.e 20 shoots which means the goal keeper stopped like 80% of your teams trys at a goal. So you can still say well played because the goal keeper did play well in that match even though his team lost.

The biggest difference between sports and DBD in sports you have time after to walk up to that one person and tell them well played but in DBD everyone is in a rush to leave and move on to the next match asap, you don't know if that person is still in chat or can even see what you say, so its more easy just to say ggwp and move on to next match and if that person responds you can tell them why.

Well I do this all the time. "Quentin, you were good." Then I leave. I'll single a person out and praise them when I know they carried the team. Still not going to say wp when they lost though. I don't say it just to say it. You might; I don't.

  • I don't say ggwp if I win unless I'm rubbing it in. Maybe gg if they say it first or if I need to bounce out quick. And even then, I reserve saying it for truly good games where everyone made good plays and it went the length-- which isn't nearly as often as a bad game, in DBD.

Besides, wp is for the loser to say. I can acknowledge a good game, but I'm not going to tell them they played well when they lost. This was something my coach taught me in junior high and it carried over to every game since.

  • Not only random boots, but my friends and I will get crazy ping spikes. I seem to get the worst of it from 50-200+. I warp like mad. I have no doubt that the killer is thinking we're hacking.

I usually notice it when the killer is outside of our normal region, but not always! So, it's hard to pinpoint what's up. There's usually someone in the lobby that gets that lag symbol several times during the game. This has started happening since Wesker, but it's especially more frequent in the last week or two. I wonder if BHVR's net code can't handle the speed of fast movement.

Anyway, on another, but related issue-- BHVR, please give me the option to OPT OUT of high ping games. I do NOT want to keep facing players from other countries. Anything above 50 is too janky. I'll wait it out if I have to.

  • Yeah. It's in Seoul, Korea. Busan is similar. Really, a lot of places can have the same look under the right conditions, like Akihabara & Shinjuku, Taipei, Bangkok.

  • seoul.jpg

    I'd love to see it.

  • That might be fun if all perks had limited use.

you know reaching Rank 1 or Iridescent was the main objective of the game, but now that it doesn't matter, what are we exactly playing for?

certainly not blood points or shards

i would say fun, but let's be honest the last time i had proper fun in this game was in 2019

so what's the point for either side ?

i know some of you will tell me survive and kill but every game has a end goal and for dbd it got removed with the worst addition to ever get released SBMMR

i would say the Totem challenges and levels but tbh they don't even feel rewarding ,some few miscs and lore pages that will probably hear once and forget about them, tbh i would be a bit nice to like offer 100 auric cells after reaching level 100, which is you know kinda of impossible tbh, like i grinding the hell out of the saw totem and barely managed to reach 80

but you know at least we can look forward to something i guess?

if u are gonna tell me just stop playing the game, just save it, if everyone took that opinion to heart, nobody would be complaining or playing k?

I still have some fun with killer when new content releases. Otherwise, it's SWF for survivor fun gameplay. We can create fun with our own rules, like sandbagging each other while limiting ourselves to dumb perks. We do 2v2v1 all the time.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend because it's the best in its class, hands down. Any gamer should at least try it. This is especially good for people that aren't great at highly competitive games but want that vibe without needing high skill to get there. As long as they feel like they're improving and can get a decent ratio, that's all that matters to most people.

Really, I think this game shines up until the few hundred hour mark. I think more people would be happy with the game if they could just stop at that point, keep the fond memories, and move on. That is, if you can't find fun in the game anymore.

  • I used to do it to players that would exploit infinites or be a general nuisance so I knew how to play against them. Don't do it so much anymore since crossplay became a thing but it was pretty useful.

You literally can... by moving your flashlight off the killers head and back on.

And even then if you needed to make a quick adjustment I'd say that its completely fair you miss out on the save given that most scenarios you click to early on a free flashlight save.

I don't know about that. Sometimes a second click happens milliseconds after the first click and when I'm playing survivor, my sensitivity is low. I'm not going to get that flick in time. As far as missing the save, fair argument, but I'd still like them to adjust the saves by however milliseconds it would take for the adjustment to happen, even if it's a number somewhere in between. I'm all for compromises.

  • @HugTheHag said:

Hopefully it doesn't impede on communication / flashlight blind adjustments.

It does, there's a delay of almost a second.

  • No more pussyfooting around. I like that idea of ending the game sooner and going next. It'll be interesting to see if this breaks the game at all in PTB.

  • I hope BHVR changes the timing on saves because you can't make quick adjustments anymore.

  • I haven't been paying much attention to upcoming mechanics but could it be that this was done to spice up the game a little for the new finisher moris so that they don't end too quickly?

Yup. This makes me think devs are surv mains. They did one killer sided patch. And immediately reverted it.

No, they're not survivor mains. It just seems that way because of how they balance, which is for the casual gamer. This game is not for someone that wants the ultimate PvP experience. People that play this game are 30, 40, 50 year old uncles and grandmas that want to be their icon, Freddy or Myers, or want to have fun in a SWF and be ok at it. The devs take all skill levels into consideration and try to balance the game so this can happen. Of course you have people that take the game seriously, but it doesn't take long to figure out that this game is broken for any type of serious play unless you make up your own rules in a private scrim.

  • It depends on your region. In mine, the better survivors come out before or after prime-time, so 11am - 4pm and midnight to 4am. Something like that. Lot more casual/family gamers on during prime-time, even with crossplay off on PC.

  • They have to keep changing it because the core of the game loop is very simple. There's only so much you can do to it without making it too complicated for new comers or too different from what vets are used to. Some people will adapt and some won't, but overall I think it's a good business decision to keep things moving.

  • There's no reason for a game to last 2 hours. Half an hour is even too long. If my game isn't done in 20 minutes, I'm going next no matter the situation. I'd like the devs to put in a 20-25 minute cap because that's as long as a game should ever last. They'd probably have to add in something to discourage people waiting it out just to troll, but I'm sure BHVR can think of something.

  • I think matchmaking is doing a great job then. It's legitimately putting you against people in your range. Honestly, I think you get the most fun out of DBD in the first few hundred hours of it. It takes maybe 50-100 just to get used to the game loop and understand what people are doing in the youtubes, then another couple hundred to really have fun. By then you're either hooked or have had your fill and move on.

This game is perfect for people that don't spend a whole lot of time on it and good for those that spend upwards of a few hundred. As long as you keep having fun, keep at it.

  • This is no surprise at all. Based on how BHVR takes all forms of MMR into consideration, the best survivors will almost always be stronger than the best killers.

    *edit*- Since 2016, BTW.

Prove me to that photosensitive people are somehow forced to play Dead by Daylight (there's even a Dead by Daylight board game for crying out loud), or that demanding free work from a stranger isn't extremely entitled.

You can't. No one is tying people up and making them play DbD, making demands of strangers is just self-important and narcistic.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3180301#Comment_3180301

My problem is the sheer entitlement. Accessibility features are great, but acting like you deserve them just for existing or that BHVR are somehow being villainous for not doing something that pretty much no other game company does anyway is really just not something a reasonable person would do. I'm not going to ask that every little thing caters to my sensitivity to loud and irregular sound patterns, because the world does not revolve around me and my needs.

I mean, every video game requires you to stare at a TV or monitor for multiple hours, which is basically staring at a big array of flashing lights for an extended time. If you are photosensitive, this is already a bad idea before we even get into which game you are playing in particular.

It's not selfish to want to play a video game. That's a pretty normal want for someone to have in a first-world country. What's selfish is to make demands of strangers, and to make them out to be bad people when they don't even know that you exist.

Do you get it yet? I understand that people want to play a game, I just think it's childish to demand for people you don't even know to conform to your needs instead of you going "ah, I shouldn't play this game because it has too many flashing lights." My problem is not the features themselves existing, but rather the way people go about asking them to be implemented and an outright refusal to simply fix the problem on their own by playing a different game instead. It's just screams to me "I think the world revolves around me. The world should change to fix my problems, instead of me changing to fix my problems."

Accessibility features are great, but don't act like the developers are at your beck and call and are obligated to serve you like dogs. They are just ordinary people doing their jobs.

"I mean, every video game requires you to stare at a TV or monitor for multiple hours, which is basically staring at a big array of flashing lights for an extended time. If you are photosensitive, this is already a bad idea before we even get into which game you are playing in particular."

It's kind of nuts to think about all the light triggers that can set some people off. And this is where my problem lies. If BHVR can easily add an option for less light flicker, yes- do it, but what about other triggers like high contrasting colors or just length of play. Is this their responsibility? I don't know what BHVR can do for all the triggers.

But also, I don't want BHVR to be limited in creating maps, characters, effects, cosmetics, or whatever. They might have a really cool idea planned that, visually, may wow most everyone, but won't because they feel they shouldn't. I want BHVR to push the game as far as they can with as little restriction as possible.

  • @EvilSerje said:

Survivor challenges/achievements are always pain in the rear. I have conspiracy theory that they made just to force players to play more survivors. Because it take 20 more time to finish one survivor achievement than killer one.

That's not a conspiracy theory. That's a feature to keep players playing. Tomes came out at a time when gameplay was already stale and long-time players were done grinding. It got a lot of veteran players to have a reason to stay and come back whenever a new one came out.

  • @Mattie_MayhemOG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3177903#Comment_3177903

They did add this in patch 6.2

    • "A photosensitivity warning has been added to the boot sequence of the game"

There we go. Now maybe they can get down.

  • I would like BHVR to just put up a disclaimer for people that have issues with flickering lights. I like those effects and I'd like to see more. I think it would be cool to go through a dark hallway or room with a strobe light in it and all you see is flashes of the killer or survivor as you chase and hit them. It could look real cinematic.

They can do so much more with lighting and sounds, and I think it's a shame they're not more creative with them.

  • I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the shallow player pool. It's wide, but not deep enough to match people within their MMR, in a reasonable time. So yeah, you're going to get players from China because BHVR weighs queue time about as much as skill-pairing.

I would much rather wait to get someone in my skill range AND have a ping filter so I'm matched with someone close by. Let me make the choice on if I want fair lobbies in lieu of quick ones.

This is yet another indication by BHVR that they consider this a very casual game and not to take games that seriously.. so maybe I shouldn't get too mad about it.

In any case, I think it was a bad move to remove that ping indicator. It might not have worked as well as it should, but at least it was something.

  • It's worked several times in clutch situations but really, it's not needed in 3-4 mans and I have higher success rates with other perks in duo. The only reason why I still run it is because it's real challenging to keep hitting greats after 6, and to me that's a lot of fun.

  • I'm liking the frequency, but not because I think it's a great map. I just like getting achievements out of the way as fast as possible. Maybe think of it that way.

  • The times I got facecamped for tbagging a killer with it... Of course I do.

  • I haven't played a whole lot solo since the midchapter dropped so I can't say that it's still easy to get to Iri 1 in solo queue. It seems to feel the same. I think it depends on your MMR. It helps if you know your region so you can log in when good players are on. For me, it's late night or afternoon. no prime time, no weekends, and with crossplay off. Essentially you want to cut out all the casuals... even though this is a casual game. :|

SWF is where it's at because even if you don't pip/win, you generally have more fun anyway.

  • Could be challenges. If a new tome comes out, I always prioritize them over the main objective-- and if I have to do it in solo queue, well, that's DBD balance and it usually plays out poorly unless I happen to be teamed with some good randoms.

  • I'm really pleased with the lighting in that house. I think it's the best looking interior of any other map.

  • @LeeONE said:

    For example

WIth Hope I can feel the speed because killer isn't catching up that fast

WIth Q&Q I can hear that there are no sound

WIth Dark sense I can see killer's aura

    etc.

I can feel SOME impact of literally any perk in game, except dark theory

SWFd it when it came out and had fun stacking it with other perks, but by itself, it's very forgettable. Like most of the other perks available, it has its use, but it's so situational that I'd rather run something else, especially with the meta change.

  • I gave them feedback to put in dark hallways and areas with reflected lighting so this looks really cool to me. I think it gives the maps a lot more character.

As far as being blind. I got used to the maps after a few games, but maybe this may give way to buffing shadowborn to see better in the dark too.

  • I think it's going to be relatively quick. A month? 2? There's already people that admit to dodging lobbies based on prestige and if there's anything that's obvious to me to help with matchmaking, it's to stop the lobby dodging, and whatever the reason is that people lobby dodge. High prestige? Dodge. Low prestige? Dodge. SWF? Dodge. TTV? Dodge. Default cosmetics? Dodge. Whatever the reason, it makes matchmaking #########. C'mon.

It should be noted the MMR cap is 1900, meaning you can only exist at this number, never exceed it. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxPfwB1WBPM&ab_channel=ScottJund)

I believe the MMR testing loosened the +- of the MMR range it would pair you with. I'll need to find a source, but old MMR kept you at a +-250, I believe new MMR is +-500

Unless the hacker I was playing against lied, you can exceed 2k.

  • @Breadn said:

If there are way more people playing one side than the other, then it shows there is an issue with your game itself. It doesn't matter if it's "more balanced." In any game, especially a more casual game such as this, fun takes priority.

And when one role in your game is so unfun, and your game's grind is so unfun, that you need to provide bonuses, that shows a massive problem. Killer queues have been upwards of 10 minutes for most regions, and nothing is being done to address it other than this horrible band-aid.

Personally, I think it's insulting that they're dangling BP in our face for playing the role we don't enjoy. Fix the core game.

I think this, along with the meta-shakeup, should be very telling to people on how the devs are trying to balance-- they can't, past a certain point. It doesn't help that other factors get in the way of this, including tomes, dailies, lobby dodging leading to bad matchmaking, SWF vs Solo, fun vs sweat.. It really goes on.

That said, I don't mind the BP multiplier since I play both roles but I would have been just as fine if they put a BP bonus on the base game while introducing a casual play mode for quicker games.

  • I have a friend that was at 32 the other day and he plays an unhealthy amount. Also saw a streamer at 36 so I wouldn't doubt 38.
