  • I agree. I always thought that the backfill system because of dodging can create bad matches and bad data. When I SWF, we get so many dodges that it's no wonder why we get paired up against players with sub-mediocre skills. I'm sure dodging has to skew the data in some way. Maybe it makes certain killers look stronger than they should be? Maybe it makes SWF appear more potent than they really are, when really a fair game would have been had if the dodger had stayed in. Who knows?

I think at this point it should be "forced" on the player in a way to play the lobby through. Not that they can't dodge for whatever reason, but I think those reasons could be muddied a little bit. They can redesign the lobby to show default skins or very hard to see skins, as if the killer is looking through some bushes and fog. Remove names and limit the view of items. Or you can go another route and give an incentive to stay in lobbies with a bonus reward for consecutive games. There are quite a bit of creative options BHVR has IF they thought lobby dodging was a big enough problem. I wish they would try something though, because improved data could affect a lot of their balance decisions, and in a better way.

  • I would love there to be an option in KYF. If it's popular enough, maybe they can make it an actual mode for good or special occasions only.

  • Healing is very situational in this patch if you're playing as solo. It's better to just push gens and play through injury. Bringing a medkit and 99'ing your bar with Resilience is nice though.

If you're SWF or you're lucky and have good teammates, sure bring a build. But the best play is to M1 on gens as fast as you can so that you can ######### around-- later. I can understand why people get mad if you heal a lot, and part of it is because-- unless you have exceptional heal times --it will just draw out the game longer than it should really be.

  • I have about a half dozen friends that still actively play and they're all good. It makes the games really fun because everyone knows what to do so we can ######### around a lot. The only times I don't like playing is if we get a backfill killer that is totally new or if we get a killer that we don't feel like playing against. We'll just go next and there's no hard feelings.

i don't get this either, why did they change the wiggle, did anyone ask for it or was it a hot topic for discussion? it seemed perfectly fine to me, getting 1 sec off the wiggle timer almost did nothing at all, it was barely noticeable as it was

I'm sure someone left feedback about it, but as for it being a hot topic? It wasn't.

This all came about after complaints of potential keyboard damage from spamming keys for hook struggle. This is when BHVR changed that mechanic.. which was another ๐Ÿ™„. One of the darkest days of my solo survivor career. **To be fair, they probably changed it because a lot of people were dying on hook a lot quicker than they are now... BUT STILL!

In any case, I'm guessing the devs just want to be a little more consistent with the other change, so here we are. I'm going to miss roleplaying my feeble wiggle attempts.

I know some will hate me for this but Yoichi is one of my mains. I love the look of the sweater and he has such limited outfits as it is. I justify it by the fact I already had Auric cells sitting there. ๐Ÿง

Nobody's going to hate you for that. Haha. Buy what you want.

That Yoichi sweater is S-tier. Gotta style on them default rain jacket Yoichis.

  • Mine would be exclusive cosmetics. I'd like them back, and more added. Bring back first world exclusivity to the realm Entity.. unless you're chicken. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ—

  • Jake's and Yoichi's sweaters are too damn funny.

  • Once you get over the killer vs survivor bit, and look at the comp as team vs team, it's a lot more interesting to watch. I really don't care about the "boring" strats they use because that's comp dbd. That's what you expect. It's still fun to peep because it's in the DBD universe, each team follows the same rules, and it's balanced enough to make it fair. A lot more fair than a live game of DBD where everyone can bring anything.. or they're throwing the game because of a daily.

Besides, I have to respect that they're playing for a purpose and want to be the best at something. And if you watch some of these guys play out of a tourney and even outside of DBD, you'll find that they're better competitively than your regular gamer, which I like seeing.

  • Sniping was definitely a thing back when most people didn't make their Steam profiles private and Twitch wasn't inundated with the amount of DBD streamers it has now. You don't need to have their stream running all the time- just see where they spawn and that's good enough, although I have known people to have the match running on another monitor. This has been bragged about ad nauseam within certain groups I used to belong to as well as on various forums. Do I think it's weird? Nope. Funny, yep.

I think bigger streamers have problems. The small time streamers probably don't, but it wouldn't surprise me either if there were a few snipes here and there even with them-- enough to make them accuse more people than they should.

  • I'm not getting that vibe at all. I think that when BHVR asked if we wanted a health chapter update vs new shiny #########, the majority said they wanted new shiny #########. This is the casual market we're talking about. Most people put in a few hours a week and probably tap out after about a hundred, maybe two. For those people, this game truly is fine, and the reality is, that for most veterans, it's good enough to play-- even with all the wackness.

I've been conditioned to get a new DLC, quarterly. I get over the hype after a few weeks. The only reason why I keep playing is because of friends, and even then, interest dries up well before the next DLC even hits. If I had to wait another month for new content, I might not feel like coming back-- and I think BHVR understands that. Haha.

  • Positive. That's the review I give on Steam. I put in thousands of hours into this game so I wouldn't change it now. I got my fun out of it.

There's Ace, David, and Dwight right there. Make it so BHVR.

I've had completely different experience. Thanksgiving turkey was always the worst turkey dinner of the year, thankfully my parents did turkey dinners outside holidays and random times during the year that were amazing. I hated as a kid getting specific candies only at certain times of the year, to the point I asked my parents to stop. I'd end out having to throw the candy out because I wanted to spread it out and have it later in the year but it'd go bad.

I don't like any cosmetics being exclusive. I've gotten all the rift and Amazon prime cosmetics as well as all the earnable event cosmetics since I started playing. They don't feel special to me because I got them during a limited time. I'd much rather they all be put into the store permanently so they are available to everyone at any time. I'd feel special seeing more cosmetics permanently added to the store for my main, Zarina, but unfortunately since she doesn't have many cosmetics she's isn't a go to for people to play and her not being played is why the devs don't give her cosmetics. She has 3 rift cosmetics that I wish they'd permanently put in the store to give players that missed out more options to encourage them to play her so she could get more cosmetics but instead of adding cosmetics to the store permanently for her she is one that is having a cosmetic removed thanks to the new "winter cosmetics are time limited" that BHVR has decided to do.

That's fine. We all have different experiences, which is why I don't ######### on anyone's opinion on this because it depends on who you are. I just had to add my 2 cents because there are some replies in the other threads that are speaking for the "community". I want to make sure my voice is heard too.

When I was a kid apple cider was only available in the fall, now I see it in stores year round because people like drinking apple cider year round. Quite a few of the smaller dairy farms in my area sell egg nog year round because people will buy it outside the Christmas season. Theres a local mom/pop ice cream shop that changes up their ice cream weekly and atleast once a month offers eggnog hard ice cream or soft serve - getting their version of a DQ blizzard using the eggnog soft serve and their fresh brownies is wicked tasty.

It's great when you aren't limited to one time of year to enjoy things and you are free to enjoy them anytime instead.

Sometimes that's ok, but I have a different take. A lot of times, I do not like having things whenever I want. There's a reason why I like eating turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and stuffing during Thanksgiving-- why I like seeing Christmas lights on houses up and down the block during December-- why I give my baby girl a big egg full of apple Jolly Ranchers every Easter. It makes things special. I like special.

In this case-- these cosmetics -- I like having them available during a certain time because it gives them worth. I had no reason to get a whole lot of cosmetics before because I could usually get them at any time. After looking up what was leaving for a year, I had to dish out a bunch of shards to get Claudette's sweater, Dwight's gift box and jingly jester pants. Now they're special to me because I made an effort to get them before they were gone. I still want other #########, like Claudette's Christmas hat, but that's just the way it is. Maybe it will give me some purpose to play more to earn it. I like that.

  • I completed 85 a couple weeks ago. Deep rift ain't deep enough.

360s are being done not to force a swing early but to mess with the Aim Dressing of Killers attacks. When a survivor 360s it tricks the Aim Dressing to force the Killers attack to move to where it "thinks" the Survivor is at even though the Killer is aimed at the Survivor I'm question.

That's why a Killer whiffs the attack or hits a random wall or object.

That's only true in very specific situations. Most 360s are last ditch efforts to make a killer legitimately miss, even though it doesn't work most times.

OP, you don't have to have your camera maxed out. I don't, and I can do the different types of 360s at default. It used to be that you could do them better at a certain refresh rate, but they fixed that a few years ago.

  • Just have to say-- I love that actress. I ran into her when Gokusen was released and boy was I starstruck. Dare I look at some of her VHS tapes tonight? Hmm? Gaga gaga.

  • It depends on who you ask. If you ask someone who takes the game seriously, of course they're not going to say it's a party game, and I think that's the problem people and BHVR are having. Some take the game seriously, but most everyone else -- BHVRs main base -- play "their way" and to have fun, even at the expense of losing. I think the game has a bit of an identity crisis and BHVR really has their hands tied in how they talk about and balance the game.

It may not be a party game, but it's way more casual than a lot of competitive gamers are willing to accept. Hardly anyone would play the game as hard as they can, for as long as they do now, if it were a true competitive game-- not even actual DBD comp gamers.

That said, I wouldn't mind a party mode. Random perks. Random killer. BP divided 5 ways equally. Voice chat for friendly ######### talking. I'm down for it!

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Shadow buffed, more like fixed the bug on it and works like intended now.

If that's true, that would be hella funny. Haha.

  • The game attracts a LOT of casual gamers. It's kind of to be expected.

    Bad skillsets. Bad gameplay.

Just equip a good cosmetic and don't take the game seriously.

  • I did it with The Knight. Summon a guard and flank the survivor. Wait for him to hit the survivor. Survivor gets a boost. If you get lucky, hit the survivor right after.

  • I would go with the Steam version because it is by far the better gaming platform. Steam DBD goes on sale frequently. Unfortunately, you missed the last one by 3 weeks when the Ultimate Edition was $38.25. There will probably be another sale soon though because of the holidays.

I know MS store is currently having a sale on the Ultimate Edition, and that's a good deal. If all you're going to play is DBD or play mostly single player games, then it doesn't matter, but if you have any inclination of playing other games, I'd wait and buy it on Steam because of its better features and benefits. Not to mention that some third party sites have more sales for Steam games than other platforms.

If your friends are on Steam, it's pretty much a no-brainer. All of my friends use Steam and they make it very easy to find a game that we all have so we can co-op or team up in, like Squad, Arma, CSGO, 7DTD.. whatever.

  • 1.0

Everything was brand new and people were just playing to have fun.

  • I think BHVR is on to something. I'd like to see the other female characters have the same outfit. Would be pretty funny.

  • My girl JANE. You know that freak is down.

  • People that play single-player won't have a drive to buy cosmetics. I don't think BHVR would risk splitting the base because of that. Besides, I can see a lot of exploiting going on to gain BP overnight with minimal effort, and who will be the wiser?

Still, I like the idea of progressing single player with currency, but only if it's non-transferable.

Like I said,if it's attributes were talking about,we know Frank played basketball so he has strength and speed so his hand eye coordination is quicker and his punches will pack some thunder,on top of that he's a psychopath, their usually unusually strong and resilient. If I was you I'd just go for the hatch. You can even see all this in The Legion's Mori by your logic why not just beat up Michael Myers?

Ok, well if you want to go that route, then let me just say this-- If Legion bust in my house, I'm going to know where abouts he is because he's in my realm where I have inherent killer instinct. I'm also a few steps away from my Glock. I doubt his poo butt will be doing much of anything besides frenzying out my front door. Then I'd call my friends down the block that hang out in the front all the time, and tell them to jack the weirdo with a silly mask because he thinks he's all that with a knife.

You couldn't do this with Myers. He's a real killer.

There's no way you can beat either Frank or Joey.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3255277#Comment_3255277

You really think you could beat up Frank ,I'm sure the entity gives killer's,there power based on their attributes.

What's the difference between the girls and guys? They're equal in power. And yeah, I don't think Legion would be a problem considering their power isn't really a power-- at least nothing to fear. Next night, I wouldn't mind facing Piggo, then probably Ghostface.

  • Any of the legions. I'll kick Susie in the nuts and backhand Frank wearing white gloves. They got nothing on my 20 inch guns.

    Frenzy shmenzy. Yawn.

  • Don't hate brother. Make it your goal. Embrace it.

my man why so agro, i didn't report anyone, im just trying to see what view point of everyone else....relax.

    That was aggro? Sorry dude.

  • The game is still totally winnable if the other 2 are gen jockeys. You don't want to stop people from trying to have fun in the game and force them to play for real. Killers will have a 20% win rate if that's the case. Please.

    But sure, report away.

  • I sacrifice myself if my teammate was good.

  • It could very well be that a killer dodged the lobby, and if they were waiting a while, you might have been put in there despite your MMR rating. I doubt a prestige 93 has time to lower their MMR because they're probably trying to get to 100 ASAP.

I think lobby dodging hurts DBD matchmaking a lot.

  • As survivor, no I don't save. It's not worth it to rescue someone that doesn't want to play and will most likely sabotage the rest of the game if saved.

As killer, I'll tunnel that person out and kill the other survivors as fast as possible. The game is most likely over if it's a 3v1 early on, and it's faster to just go next.

  • @Nos37 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/352706/leave-the-gen-get-a-skillcheck-bug

I figure it's a feature and not a bug. As Otz pointed out in a YouTube video, some players eventually reach a point where they stop failing skill checks and it seems the devs put this in the game so that skill checks will still fail on ocassion (at no fault to the player, aside from waiting for a skill check and succedding it first, and THEN letting go)

I don't know if this is true or not, but the RNG nature of this game makes me-- not doubt it.

  • I'll still pronounce the name Fehng because that's how it's spelled. Not sure why they couldn't just spell it Fung so I SHAN'T BE BOTHERED.

  • Another one of the many things that will get patched and be missed by me. Booo.

  • I think it depends on how much you have invested in Epic DBD and how much of a gamer you are. I wouldn't change platforms if you are just going to play DBD solo, and very casually, but if you plan on playing with friends or finding people to play with, it might be easier on Steam. There's so much Steam offers over EGS that if you only have $20 put in, I'd say switch, but only if you're going to really get into DBD or get heavy into PC gaming.

this does still happen at high ranks because mmr will throw 10k hour players in with 200 hour players. my last 3 games before Iri 1 last month were an absolute mess, with awful survivors on my team compared to the great teammates i had for a few games before that. there is no way i could have dropped mmr out of those earlier games, and then i was stuck with the worst teammates straight after. i impressed the killers being the last alive in those few games, soloing generators and escaping through the gates, or looping till the spirit decided he respected my play and just let me open the door. final game was a double pip with all Iri emblems but again, it relied somewhat on killer mercy as otherwise i would surely have lost my unbroken iri when it was 1v1

there are just so many random factors that can break a solo queue team, even morale is at stake from the outset of a solo match, with the crack of the nurse being enough to break the resolve of many, who may actually feel somewhat traumatised from the strings of bad games they've had before.

being stuck with an SWF, sure sometimes they've been helpful and we've cooperated very well, but i have been betrayed a lot of times by them as well, the worst being a couple weeks ago when i 99'ed a door then unhooked their SWF pal while they healed, only to have them deliberately dodge hatchets while the other 2 were still uninjured and i was trying to get them to take a hit (no expose). the 3 of them just ran straight out the door. i had done half the generators in that match, a little looping, and me and the SWF mikaela were both 0hook at this point. maybe they were just so unconfident in their ability to save me, they all had decent hours played so i really think they were just kinda bad and didn't care to even try to save me in return.

I know ######### still happens in high rank, but it happens less. The times I get sandbagged by a SWF or left to die *just because* happens so infrequently that to me it's a non-issue. The team usually dies because someone's doing a challenge, ######### around too much looting chests, tries to style too hard on a killer, or just genuinely loses because the killer is good. Usually has nothing to do with SWF ######### me over just because I'm the random.

Sometimes the play is just to leave. Sometimes the play is to die on hook so you don't feed the killer even more. Sometimes the play is to purposely go down at 0-hook state-- giving teammates a reason to help you because they're not death-hook. A lot of players are spiteful or they don't want to risk a death if they can't afford it. And yeah, sometimes it will happen at high rank, but like I said, it is not often. 1 in 30 maybe if that? 1 in 50? I can put in 10-15 games a night and I can go weeks in between times I feel I get ######### over on purpose. It's not once a night or every other night, that's for sure. That's why I don't think this particular issue is a big deal.

There are some good points people make with why solo queue is bad, but blaming it on SWF ain't it.

  • 95%+ of this playerbase would not be able to manage all that. Haha. Now, a hardcore is something I've brought up before- no aura reading, visual/audio cues, or terror radius. Limited perks. That might be fun- especially if there were cool incentives to play it.

  • @jamally093 said:

Simple I've noticed this unless it's a twitch SWF most SWF will not try protecting you why more then likely because your a solo q person. I've noticed a lot when I play survivor they'll not protect me but their friends will protect eachother and so on. Basically Solo q is just shoved if your not in SWF yourself your basically bound to end up not protected because your not part of the SWF.

Once you get in higher ranks, that won't often happen unless you're being selfish. Then yeah, they'll sandbag you.

It could be that you're at a skill level that your teammates don't have the experience to know what to do for every situation.

  • Stay with a team and practice a lot with them. Then encourage the weaker links to get better. I think it's tougher these days to find good players to play with if you're not already on their level. Most people ain't havin' it.

  • @SweetbutaPsycho said:

During the last couple of weeks I encountered very many "troll" squads. Like ppl literary sending me to a very dark map, all 4 playing claudette and never doing any gens, just hiding in corners or lockers all game. These games sometimes drag out for like 20 minutes since without aura reading perks its very hard to find these survivors. I had ppl like this like every 10th game in the last couple of weeks which makes me really wonder, are survivors getting so bored with playing the game normally that they have to think of a way to play that will make the killer dc as new goal or what exactly is the aim in doing stuff like this?

There's a point as SWF where winning takes a backseat to having fun, which could mean anything from 2v2v1 matches to going completely stealth if we see Corrupt. Sometimes we'll mess with Pebble and Red Herring. Sometimes we lose. Sometimes we win. Doesn't matter. It's just about fun. The main game loop can get pretty boring if all you do is the main objective.

  • @Roaroftime said:

    Nah bring back old struggle

    I'm with you brother!

  • Man, I don't think people even remember his initial release or knew the trends, and how miserable he could make it for survivors. The play was to slug with Knockout, Nurse's, and you had built-in mapwide Deerstalker-- survivors needed to be woken up, then healed.. and if you were paying attention, you could potentially keep them slugged until they bled out. At the very least, games would last a long time and it was pretty rough on solo queue. It was obnoxious, and as people caught on, you would see more bitching in endgame chat or more people DCing. Very annoying to go against and of course very fun to play as. Haha.

This iteration didn't last long so I guess BHVR listened to feedback, and I think he was changed a couple weeks later to what most people think of as original Freddy. As far as him being any good. Ehh. He was good against the average DBD player, just like most every other killer. Take that for what it's worth.

The biggest thing I miss about Freddy though is getting flashlight saves against him when he was invisible. You were hot ######### if you could pull it off.

  • I don't think BHVR ever commented on the removal of it, but there are several reasons I can think of why they did. 1- Technical problem. 2- Aesthetic issue. 3- Lobby dodging, causing backfill.

    I'm going with 3.
