  • There are a hell of a lot more Sable players than Unknown. It's no wonder they create more skins for her than the killer. That's not bias, that's a smart and shrewd business decision.

  • @ElodieSimp said:

2v8 pretty much showed how oppressive she is but the only thing that is a real problem is the hatchet hitbox, can still hit you even if you're behind cover. I know some people will defend it (of course) but it really needs to change.

I'm torn here, because when I play huntress, they seem like good shots. There are laggy players, but most of my aimed shots seem true. When I play survivor, it's complete bullshit. Haha. I don't know if this is because of UE5 or because I'm getting queued out of my region, or what.

Playing against huntress when killer hosted was very fun. It's kind of a crap shoot these days.

I don't get why these video games have us "relive moments from the film". I've seen those moments, they're in the film. Give us something new.

It's because the ones that will be the most interested in the game and can generate the most buzz are fans— likely long-time fans that want to roleplay and live out what they would do in the environment they're familiar with. LIke, playing Myers on the Nostromo or in a saloon is pretty ridiculous to a die hard fan. DBD Myers is ok, but goofy. Playing a "true to life sim" as Myers or a knitting needle wielding Laurie is akin to rail fans nerding out in Train Simulator. I've been waiting on a decent video game adaptation for the Halloween franchise for a really long time. I hope it's good, and true to the movie— the original one.

  • Man, I hope Carpenter can help with the game, but I was disappointed with what they did to Myers in the last movie… and Carpenter was happy with the turnout of that so, I don't have a whole lot of confidence on his inclusion. Still excited overall though.

  • Coincidentally, polarized views on this forum became worse when they took away the vote down button. People muted themselves a little more for some reason. C'mon BHVR, you know what to do.

  • @bornagain234 said:

They should have added another killer for the extension.

No they can't do that. A lot more thought goes into putting in a character and its loadout than you think. Besides, they still have to gather data for the existing mode before they should go adding new stuff.

  • Killer duos is still the most fun out of the mode. Survivor isn't that bad either, especially if you have a stack of friends. Last night I had 8 escapes in a row and left with 6 flashlights and 2 ranger med kits. I didn't do gens in half of those games. Go figure.

I wish there were a middle ground because 2v8 is kind of mindless. I like the speed of the game but I miss the perks. I think BHVR should try to bridge the gap between the two and release another mode that includes the fun of both. The reason why 2v8 is so popular is because it's very casual, even if there are some that try to sweat it out. BHVR can create another mode that forces casual play if they wanted to please that crowd. Although I have a feeling if they did that, it might all but dry up the normal 1v4 pool.

  • And actually, prior to crossplay, there was a lot of unspoken rules where you wouldn't exploit broken #########. Not even just bugs, but crap that was obviously dirty to use, like infinites or abusing op perks. It was because you faced the same people that you played with over and over again and got to know them eventually.

  • It's ok to go next.

  • Man I miss Monto. I used to get him and his girl in my lobbies all the time. Solid players that liked to mess around back then.

  • Pretty much any killer that uses OP addons. I wish there were some type of mechanic that gave a backup loadout, so that if either side brought OP ######### into the game, it would use that instead. Most times I'm not playing for real.

Other than that, in solo queue it's usually your teammates that's the real hated killer.

  • @Nathan13 said:

So 2v8 gets extended which means more long killer queues in 1v4, look this new gamemode is fun but after a few matches I want to go back to regular matches. I’m sorry i’m just sick of waiting 10 minutes to get in a lobby.

I can’t see how BHVR is gonna make this a permanent mode if queues are gonna be a problem.

They can make it permanent and have the queues be short as long as they're willing to forego MMR and region preferences. Quality of games may go down if you're solo but they'll have to see if it's worth it in the long run or not, all things considered.

  • Maybe they loosened up the MMR or something because I'm not seeing long wait times in 1v4 that others are talking about. I mainly SWF these days and our queues are a few minutes at most.

  • My friends and I didn't even notice that it dropped down to 150 until finding a lobby took a few minutes. We figured it was PTB so that's where we went. Not sticking around if it's only 150%. We get more on 1v4 with offerings. Besides, PTB is out. If BHVR wanted to test the turnout, now's not the time to do it. Haha. Wth.

  • I don't know about the cage thing, but you don't need to heal all the time. An overly altruistic team will probably lose against a good duo. You can do whatever you want against a weaker killer team, but against killers that have locked down the pressure, you should really prioritize a nearby gen first if you want to win, and know that you may be the sacrifice for the better good. Just up your loop game.

  • I notice that I get it a lot when I play Thalita. More so than any other character.

So, the people bringing up sexual harassment as a thing, it makes sense. I always laugh at it because I usually deserve it.

AS A PLAYER! I generally "BM" a lot, but I can see how people would get offended by it once they know the meaning.

  • What gens? I want that flashlight.

The first though is a pro/con, the lack of effort can make survivor feel unrewarding, and the BP bonus cannot be a long term solution.

I'm not arguing that, but I am saying that they count for something to a lot of people. I don't think this mode should be permanent but I understand why others want it. It's easy mode, and for the time-being, about as casual as you can get in DBD.

I mean, the last time I played this mode, there were 7 people unable to get me out of my Cage. I got one-hooked (or one-caged).

The problem I see is that 2v8 is more something for SWFs (which is something I always said when someone wanted it). But if you are a Solo-Player you will just have to deal with more Survivors being inefficient than before.

I personally enjoy 1v4 way more than 2v8.

Yeah sure you can get ######### over in a game. Several games in a row. But overall? I think you're going to succeed way more than in normal mode as survivor, or at the very least, get a feeling of success without investing too much into the game- especially if all you want to do is casually play… and I think that's what a lot of DBD players want. Most? I dunno about that, but a lot nonetheless. They just want mindless fun.

  • image.png

This is how much I've been playing 2v8. The first couple nights were mostly killer duos. A mix since then, but I copped a crapton of tome tiers because of 2v8. I tried 1v4 to do some challenges, but man, it's rough going back to such slow gameplay. I think I'm spoiled.

I wish they would keep 2v8 as a custom game mode where we can choose to do default games or use our own perks along with the loadouts for some crazy games.

  • @DeBecker said:

What? Thats the first time ive heard of any survivor wanting to stay in 2vs8.

2v8 has its shortcomings, but still, you can do very well with little effort, even in solo queue. Besides, the bp bonus is very attractive to a lot of people.

    Five-Deadly-Venoms-1400x839.png

    Good ol' gung fu.

  • I think this mode should stay the way it is. However, I don't want there to be just this mode. I'd like other iterations of a 2v8, 1v4, etc. where parameters change depending on community feedback. 2v8 with perks? Sure. That's next month. Be sure to cast your vote on what you want to see! 1v4 casual mode? Ok. 2 must die, 2 can escape. Sandbagging encouraged. There's a lot of things they can do and I think BHVR should get the community involved on what they want to see in that mode. Within reason of course. 😗

She has been buffed and has been in every 2v8 game I have played. I have not escaped once. Does anyone have any tips or something on how to deal with her because she is a pain with the other killers.

Against a good nurse, you're not getting away. You just try to buy time, so if you get hit, guide them away from the gens, use line of sight blockers and stay out of the open.

Against average nurses, it's 50/50. In any case, if you know you're facing a nurse, don't get caught out and try to get a head start to find cover.

Her lunge is nutty. I think they had to do this because the majority of players are derps with nurse. It really doesn't affect good nurses because their blinks are on point anyway, although it can't hoit.

  • Legacy would lose all meaning if anyone could get it these days. It's ok not to have something that someone else has.

  • @TieBreaker said:

If you think adding MMR would fix 2v8 matchmaking, I'm sorry to have to remind you that solo queue survivor has had MMR for years, and it does not work lmao.

Hahah. So true, although it might work if survivors would just do the main objective instead of all the other bs.

  • No. I say this based on the countless streamers that say they use one. BHVR cannot detect it if it's an overlay anyway so there's no way to enforce it.

  • bill army.jpg

Randoms as far as I know. There was an eigth but I guess I didn't get him in the clip. I was the good looking one.

  • Well Feng is 20x cuter so what do you expect? This is not subjective.

    Thank you.

I’ve had fun with all of these new gamemodes this year, I’m happy we’ve been getting new things to try out. But I do worry if for example 2v8 became permanent that it would make queue times longer for the base mode and 2v8.

I don't think this will be permanent because in the long run, it will hurt the base game, and ultimately that's their bread and butter.

I tried playing some normal games, and even in a SWF the other night, which is how we used to have the most fun, it just doesn't compare to killer duos in 2v8. It's not even close. Second most fun is survivor in 2v8 and we don't need perks to enjoy it because gameplay and games in general are so fast. Regular DBD feels so sluggish now. Who cares about all the bloodpoints when you don't even want to go back to normal games any time soon?

I think this can work on a temporary basis but making it permanent will definitely have an effect on how people view regular DBD. But really, we don't know the numbers that BHVR looks at to make decisions, although login numbers are waning quite a bit so it doesn't seem viable to have two modes running unless they're ok with the slightly elevated wait times in normal games. One week isn't enough time to make any sound decision but I'm curious to know where they go.

I wouldn't mind having 2v8 available a few times a year- maybe in between DLCs.

  • It's survivor sided if the lobby has a gang of decent players in it. Killer, in your average pug lobbies because there are a lot of scrubs. I can't get too excited about killing the team when a couple of them are sub 100 hours. It actually amazes me how many people go down in the first 15 seconds when they aren't being double teamed and have so many damn pallets.

But really, it's just like regular DBD. Lots of people do not care about winning and will throw games just to ######### around. Why else have chests and totems in this mode? Because it's like dangling candy in front of kids and we're suckers for distraction. So, in the end, it doesn't matter.

  • Actually, add a % slider in case I want to use it across a few characters.

  • As a fashionista main, I am dead serious. Like, afterlife serious.

  • I don't know about that, but it would be funny to see her hatchets be able to hit her teammate.

  • I don't want a long game. I like the pace it's at now.

  • I think you need to be a little more considerate to people that use the exit gate for its main purpose- a runway to showcase our new outfit. I know you might want that hatch, but… I gotta be seen.

I had someone tell me in EGC that they would find me IRL and "crush my head" and a whole lot of other things not said in English, just because I asked them why they were hiding in lockers/crouching in corners all game (mind you, with 0 hookstages), doing chests and totems and refused to heal teammates, go for hook safes literally next to them and touch gens. You can say people shouldn't take this game mode/game seriously all you want, but the reality is you will verse some of the most toxic people in this game. So whether you want to or not, some will take this game far too seriously and ruin it for everyone else whilst they are at it.

I never said there weren't unreasonable people in the world…. of DBD. My meaning is that people will do what they want in the game, for whatever reason. A few head ons or hits on the hook is a win to some people. Who cares about escaping or a 4K/8K because "it's their game." Or maybe that person's win-condition was to be the last to be alive while completing rift challenges on the chance they get hatch because the match is hopeless. /shrug

As far as people threatening you in real life over a game- they're unreasonable. Report them.

  • @Yggleif said:

No joke I can go AFK half the game (not proud of it but sometimes I get phone calls I have to take during a game) get back into the game do 2-3 gens and escape with the most points because people were either doing chests/totems, actively looking for the killler or just aimlessly wandering around while I was gone. I swear people just shut there brains off and don't try and then cry the game is too hard it's wild.

I can almost bet that most of the people that are doing everything but the gens are actually saying that the game is too easy. I think you're talking about a different type of gamer.

  • That's why you can't take this game mode, and really the game, too seriously. Some people just want to mess around and are not playing to win, or if they are, they may only care 60%.

Like, it's more fun to chase killers as scout and try to engage with them a little bit than to just do gens. Besides, with a 400% bonus, I can't blame anyone for going out of their way to maximize their BP gain in any way possible. I know I am.

  • Pretty good game I had here.

    666.jpg
  • It's not too hard to end a survivor's game in under 2 minutes with tombstone, especially if they're just casual players. Not blaming you for using the addon, but… just sayin'. Might want to change that title to rally better support.

  • I don't play solo anymore.

In SWF, virtually all of them are fun. It's not even about beating the killer since a lot of times we have our own individual win conditions. Just don't take the game seriously; it really isn't worth it.

Oh no… so if McLean was the one who coded the Blight then only him can understand the code written. If they were to do anything for blight, they would have to recode the entire killer from ground up. That explains why they never touched him for years hahahaha.

Well, I wouldn't say that only McLean could understand Blight; they JUST need to decipher the problem. I do have a feeling that part of the problem has to do with something deeper than just Blight code though because there's been geometry and collision exploits since 2016. Years to fix? Maybe. :D

  • @Sava18 said:

I really don't think it's worth the resources to fix all of the collision for the sake of blight tbh. Hug tech does have it's minor advantages but it's beyond overblown.

What I meant was that it may be too difficult to even change Blight that they may find it easier to adjust other aspects of the game. It was a joke, but not really.

  • BHVR already said they were going to change Blight, when they chimed in on posts re: Blight movement exploits last year. It's just a matter of how much and when they're going to do it. As far as I remember, McLean, who designed Blight, tried to fix him before he left, but "failed to do so." <-- His words. I'm sure they can do it, but it's also going to take a lot of resources too. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the environment more and collision in general before they mess with Blight.

  • If BHVR brought out a co-op DBD classic mode and made it PvE? I'd be down for that if there were a good leaderboard. No joke. Rework the grinding aspect to make loot fun. Revert the game back to simpler times. Bring back the flashlight clickies with unpredictable AI, and remove the ######### chat filter with 800 or 900 solid responses. Camping? Allowed. Tbagging? Allowed. ######### talking? Allowed.

Shooooot, maybe even change patches every month to keep things fresh with cool cosmetic rewards that people can see if you score high on the leaderboards.

I'd pay good money for that single/co-op player experience.

The problem is, balanced for one person doesn't mean balanced for another person. It's hard to please everyone in a game like this. Especially if someone plays killer or survivor more.

*Killers get buffed* Survivors: "The game isn't balanced! It's killer sided!"

*Survivors get buffed* Killers: "The game isn't balanced! It's survivor sided!"

It's just like asking for a scary game, scary for one person isn't scary for someone else.

Well it can be balanced if BHVR takes a stance on what they really want to do. Do they want a casual competitive game where it's "balanced enough", or do they want to make the competition here really matter by taking as many RNG elements as they can out of the game?

I think it's the former... just based on what BHVR has been doing the past 7 years. That was really my point.

However, if they wanted to make it the latter, they really could by eliminating some of the funner aspects of the game. Haha. But c'mon, based on how much people complain about "fun" and "sweat" in matches, I know BHVR doesn't truly want to go that route for obvious reasons.

And for the record, I do think this PTB is overkill. I do not want matches to be a sweatfest, even in SWF. That is not fun for me. Playing hard was something I did 6 and 7 years ago. I just want fun these days, even if I have to die to have it.

  • I agree with a lot of what you say, but that last sentence is what I think matters most: "This game cannot be balanced around people who are not playing to win." I cannot count how many times games have been thrown, maybe to finish a challenge or daily, or survivors dying on purpose for whatever reason. I don't think it's half of the matches, but it's a high percentage for a PvP game... which is why people shouldn't take this game seriously, but that's another topic.

I do believe the game can be somewhat balanced better, but is it worth it? I think that would require a lot of restrictions (like those found in tournaments). I don't think this community (including the devs) would like that. Not only that, BHVR would have to get rid of dailies and challenges, and meme games... at least for games that "matter". Additionally, you'd have to convince people to play this game more seriously, which a lot of people don't.

1 2 3 4 5 … 23
