That's not true. You can get amazing skins (e.g. imo the best nurse skin) with shards. I really appreciate that we can use our play time to get fantastic cosmetics.

no you can't.. smithson is cells only.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

The monetisation has been happening for a long time and it wont stop anytime soon.

This was evident when the cosmetic store first came about, regardless the battlepass is happening and even though some vocal people were not happy about it nothing will change that.

What DBD has become and is becoming isnt anything different from other PC/Console games as cosmetics and battlepassess are becoming the norm for a lot of online games. Its a sad fact but what can you do? the only reason they do it is because people will pay for it.

Personally as long as its never becomes a P2W where you can by boosters to gain more an advatage in game I dont have an issue with any monetisation. I for one will never be part of their consumer base for those as I have never bought skins or battle passes for any game.

We do know the mobile game as it is now is free but it only gives 2 survivors and killers the rest and how you get them is to be determined but I would say they may be pay only for the majoirty of them.

If DBD on PC/console does go down the whole mobile game route then it would be bad for the game and their business imo but atm they dont seem to be and are just following what other online games have been doing so I am not so worried. Horvath did specifically state that the battlepass will not have any P2W aspects as he said it was a frequent concern raised by the players.

but you are part of the consumer base by providing an extra player for the whales to play against. you are the cattle that they need to keep the whales happy and spending.

This is why they provide a "free" part to the battle pass and "free" skins that can be bought with shards by making you spend a hell of alot of time to grind them.

  • Want a fun scenario? 3 gens with someone hooked in the middle of them yay to losing my emblems for "camping"

The developers need to stop reading the survivor rule book.

They even implemented instant escape so survivors can tbag at the gate and not lose an item when they get hit by franklins. pfft...

  • @BigBubs said:

OH SHIET A WHOLE 0.09 of a second nerf?! OMG!!!

Ever see anyone running brutal strength? no...

because the dev's increased base breaking time but also nerfed enduring so it is slower than it was.

it all matters and all makes a difference.

  • @Rydog said:

If killer rank score was determined chiefly by hooks/kills, and survivor rank score was determined chiefly by gen repairs and escapes, the whole game would make a lot more intuitive sense to everyone. You need a frigging spreadsheet to explain the pipping system to someone right now, and it IS positively ridiculous that a killer could conceivably get 4k and still just safety pip. It does not make intuitive sense.

This would promote genrush even more and show the balance flaws in this game.

The emblem system is an attempt to mask the rotten core of this game and stop everyone playing like the depip squad and force them to waste time and play with the killer.

  • How well do you do without any add-ons?

  • @SmokePotion said:

I think the dev was partly right. She might be strong with mastery, but short of that, she's kinda meh. The reason for this, is add-ons. With her best add-ons she is pretty strong. Without them, she is not. So i'de say she needs a little love, but not much. Add-on dependences is a mean thing for a killer.

This is how they balance new killers tho.. all fluff and no bite unless they pay heavily for the chance to occasionally have fun through rare add-ons.

  • How should they work?

They seem fine to me when lag isn't involved.

  • This has been discussed over and over and over

You can't make survivors unique because everyone will just play the strongest survivor, just like Claudette is the most common survivor because she is black with dark clothes that blend into the the game well.

  • because SWF makes the game easy for survivors with the ability to organise and communicate exactly where and what the killer is doing and gen progress.

To balance out swf communication solo survivor is being thrown in the dirt.

  • @Yamaoka said:

Well, I got almost 3k hours in the game (played 50/50 for the most part) and recently I've been more of a sporadic player who plays a lot one day and not at all the other day. Playing killer isn't really fun at the moment because gens pop faster than ever forcing you to play lame.

Hopefully the new end game will change things up and make the game fun again.

All the end game does is force survivors out the door after 3 minutes. They will tbag and troll you for 2 minutes and 59 seconds instead.

See how the new legion is first before you complain. Legion was fun and easy for peeps but had no counter play in a 1v 1 match up, the changes can actually make him interesting, able to get gauranteed first hits, the irridescent button buff makes him break pallet faster than the wraith with his add ons. You seem to miss that on paper so far, it seem he has counter play now but can end chases quicker. Wait to check out the update to add ons first before complaining.

This game is not a 1v1 tho... the game should be "unfair" for a survivor in a 1v1 situation

They just nerfed pig and gave her a bigger tr.. so good luck with that. you need to remember this game is front loaded, they balance around some rando trying the game for the first time and not for the experienced players. this is why the stain is still a thing.

If they remove stain they should also remove survivor tracks

and if they remove tracks, they need to give survivors first person cam with a fov of 25-30 like the killer.

  • They just nerfed pig and gave her a bigger tr.. so good luck with that. you need to remember this game is front loaded, they balance around some rando trying the game for the first time and not for the experienced players. this is why the stain is still a thing.

  • after is useless tho.. survivors go back to not caring and muddy the stats with pointless deaths that could easily have been avoided. (2 doors open 1 guy on the hook and 3 others alive = a 4 survivors dead when the game ends somehow?)

For the first 2 days of this event, survivors will have been playing to win and escape since they are rewarded heavily for it.

  • Sounds like a very toxic person, if they are ranking up that easy then they should stay there as that is where they belong. not against fresh rank 15's

Killers don't want to rank up either but they just get told to suck it up and "git gud" and "take on the challenge of swf" pfft.........

You lost all credibility when you said they'd be buffing Sabo to the old sabo meta.

You are so very wrong in that respect.

    • We have more hook spawns now
    • Hooks respawn now
    • We have Hangman's Trick now
    • We have more instant mori options now

The only change they were suggesting was making it so the toolboxes lasted longer on Sabo, and maybe a change to the perk itself. That's it.

make toolboxes last longer if not use no charge at all and possibly increase the time it takes to respawn.
forcing a perk on a killer is always a bad idea, unless they are going to give killers 5 to 6 perk slots. combine more sabo with fast self heal and 1 click pick up, you will hook nobody and nobody will blead out.

Games can be over in 3 minutes....

  • The problem is that many of these ideas do make it to the game. just like they are going to nerf nurse as m cote hinted by accident....

  • @Zanfer said:

    @Twix said:
Wonderful idea as long as your positioning isn't given away to the killer. Sure, don't let Survivors escape when someone is hooked, but don't give me up if I'm hiding near the exit.

The position wouldn't be given away, as long as the survivor is on the hook the bloodwarden effect would stay up

so a quick save or use of a perk to jump off and everyone escapes scot free. still a tiny bit better then nothing.

  • People get offended way to easily these days.

  • Stay away from the small open loops and run for trees and jungle gyms, make it really hard to stalk.

Myers is the only killer where the terrible survivor advice of "stop chasing the looper and find someone else" applies, as you will usually instantly down the new guy before he has a chance to play ring around the rosie.

  • No problem, once more killers pick up nurse the moaning and crying and review bombing will be so great the dev's will delete her.

They are doing PTB for all upcoming changes as far as I understad, do correct me if I’m wrong though.

And regarding the “experiment” obviously you’d have to play it out like if it were the game >.>
in which case you’d hit the pallet, not the person.
If we’re gonna go full reality just bring out an AR...

And everyone knows the ptb is a joke where hardly anything ever gets changed. almost nobody plays the ptb, and previous ones have shown that what the dev's say on stream is what we get.

  • nothing but a bully simulator with the dev's making the same mistakes as dbd. strip all power from hunters and buff runners.

play the free week and don't form an opinion until you get a decent experienced team on coms. then you will truly see what the game will be in 3 months.

Get someone to hold a pallet and drop it at the same time you’re swinging a machete. Did you cut off his hand? No. Why? Because the damn machete hits the pallet, not the person.

Same thing applies to the game, if I get caught outside or in the middle of the pallet then I deserve the hit, but if I get hit on the other side of the pallet, that’s a whole bunch of crap. This is coming from a Killvivor.

grasping at straws "lets bring reality into a video game" i will stand in the middle of the pallet, shrug it off and continue to chop your hand off if you want reality...

I've never heard complaints about UE

There's actually quite a few on this very forum from some killer mains, but usually it's used by killers insulting a survivor who was stealthy. I usually gt it from both killers and survivors when I use it during a match. Because I don't run around blindly in full view of the killer like a chicken with it's head chopped off.

There is stealth and then there is being handed stealth. P3 claudette with ue springs to mind. it is basically the decisive strike of stealth, you were to bad to do it without it so you need to be able to crouch around a rock 2.5 times before a killer can get a glimpse of you.

    1) Pallets are really screwy now, you will constantly drop a pallet and STILL get hit when it shouldn't have. I've even been killer and said to myself "that should not have hit". Vacuum is gone and it favors the killer now, so the changes will balance it out more so that you don't get stuns AND hits at the same time.

    2) Bloodlust is kinda bogus. On the one hand it's a necessity because of maps, but on the other it wouldn't be a necessity if they fixed some looping spots. All pallets, sans 2 god pallets (shack and another by other basement location) should have mindgames. Right now there are too many safe pallets because there is no mindgame. Haddonfield is notorious for this.

    3) The unhook change makes it so that killers can't play like total scrubs and still get kills. It's completely unfair that you can be hit down before you can even act. Now the survivor will have if only a moment to avoid the hit, and killers will have to time it properly if they want the guy on the hook.

Killers got fixes and buffs. Now survivors get fixes and buffs. All to make the game better for everyone. Really all they need to do for killers is fix maps to remove loops/god pallets and remove mist as an offering (maybe keep the white ones for tad less/more) and killers will be in a good place.

but they are NEVER GOING TO FIX THE MAPS.

    Pallets reduced- check
    Looping spots reduced=check
    Some vault locations removed=check
    Spots where survivors couldn't get grabbed/downed removed=check
    Other fixes=check

It's almost as if you've been pulling a Rip Van Winkle routine and have missed all the map fixing things they've done in the last few patches.

they removed 1-2 pallets on some maps and vastly increased them on other maps like sheltered woods. they also spread pallets out just far enough for survivors to always be able to reach them and also cover the entire map so there are zero pallet dead zones. that "nerf" was actually a huge buff.

they took away some specific double pallets and made NEW SPAWNS for the removed pallet but kept other double pallets because they are tied to a building and thus not randomly generated.

they took out a window from some of the jungle gyms but left the pallet and the long wall or pallet and the L window. still loopable, still no mind game.

all the infinites are still there, they just baby fixed them with the window blocker, you still get 3 loops from them that can lead into pallet looping, wasting countless amounts of the killers time and then right back in for another 3 loops. the barn can spawn with 2 windows and is still an infinite if it does. they did not fix or remove them

are you really going to include exploitable rocks or bushes that they could dead hard onto to be untouchable in your argument?

i think you need to change your profile pic to a claudette

    what other fixes?

Bloodlust needs to go. It promotes bad killer plays and requires you to learn less. It's one of the reasons I stopped playing killers aside from killers FOV and flashlights white screen giving me migraines. I hated using BL and I would instantly lose it if I ever reached tier III, because it meant for that I did not play optimally.

Yes, maps need adjusting still and I can prolly live with BL staying until then, but once maps get balanced, it needs to go.

Also when you're hooked, you're not doing anything. It makes perfect sense exhaustion cooldown would go down when you're hooked.

While that may be true. They are first beginning with BL and not with the map balance. Killers are just getting nerfed again and it pisses me off. ''Hey! The survivor players gave us over 440 bad reviews in one day and over 650 in two days. Let's reward with buffs and killer nerfs, am I right?''

You can't possibly say that ######### is fair at all! They have to buff Brutal Strength then so we can still keep up with the survivors!

BS is fine where it is and anymore buffs would make it way too strong. There is a difference between balancing and just outstraight oping stuff. Numbers need to be treated carefully in DBD, because the multipliers are really weird, so buffing BS in numbers might just break the perk.

Balancing is nerfing and buffing on both sides. You cannot get anything right immediately. I've never seen that done in any game that XY patch was right away the perfect patch. I never said things are fair, because a lot of things are unfair in the game for both sides, but when I look at these changes I'm usually very cold towards them. They make sense to me on a rational basis.

They needed to lower BL so people can start to learn mindgames, because a lot of players are nowadays new players who never played the game with no BL, so they can get used to a different type of game and develop new strategies, because the end goal is to remove it once maps are balanced. I do believe lowering the numbers are needed before that can happen at all, even after map balance, because a ice cold removal of the feature would throw a lot of players out of the loop.

Like others points out, that change was mentioned several times in the past few weeks.

are you seriously going to spout mind games?

Almost every pallet and jungle gym has a way to remove all mind games... every wall has gaps or windows in it so you can see the killer.

Just because you turn around and walk backwards and catch some people unaware doesn't mean this will work against people who play the game more then 1 hour a week.

  • the really sad part is that you think the ptb makes any difference... how can you be so naive?

the last ptb was dead, no survivors used it because they did not like the planned changes, this is why the dev's just dumped it in the game and then the tantrum of the century ensued.

Now the dev's are panicking because they are to oblivious to realise the death rates of survivors are skyrocketing because they are forcing the stats. i have been in games where nobody but me will do gens, i am watching them with bond just walk around and open chests etc while they hook farm and play with the killer but eventually all die because nothing gets done.

edit This is at rank 7-8 btw..

I have had games where the survivors are obviously not playing normally like running in a straight line out in the open and then suiciding asap on the hook.... even going as far as to just stand and point at the hook.

i don't care what they do but they need to leave the pallet stun at the end of the animation. moving that puts pallets back to their former strength.

  • they need to just disable that entire folder...... i have no idea why they have not.

  • that's the point.

  • it means survivors now need to risk not having sb when the killer finds them or walk everywhere = slower game

it means a killer can chase them off a gen and walk away, only to come back 20 seconds later and know they will not have it.

it allows counter play and removes the bs moments when you begin a chase without sb and suddenly they get it just as you are about to hit them.

Idk if this helps or not, and I suck ass at killerjust to let that be known however when I play for dailies I just look up when I see them going for a flashlight save. literally tilt your killer head up towards the sky. This counters flashlight.

this means the survivor was crap and did not time it right. true is doing the same thing, but these survivors are not crap at flashlights.

  • the devs know killers are screwed, that is why they are changing them. sadly it is going to be way to slow.... lets just hope they keep ignoring people like biggs here.

i will say that they are hurting solo survivors more then they are hurting swf tho...

The worst thing at this is that those survivor snowflakes are the ones that always complain about everything what goes against their easy mode, for example the upcoming exhaustion nerf which btw was already neccessary 2 years ago. Regarding the video, im very sure there was an earlier patch where the devs removed flashlight blinding from the side, but it seems it came back some months ago. Typical devs.

it use to be within the killers fov but survivors cried and moaned on the forums because the killers fov is so terrible it made them need to be in front of him, then it got moved to about 80-90 degrees, now i think it is easily over 120 as i can get blinded while facing a wall but only just slightly being turned...

  • you had your chance to slug at 2 people now you must give the survivor the hatch if they make it to it.... stop being greedy.

If you increase generator time, you empathize camping too much, sadly.
The way to do it correctly would be to force survivors to unlock a few gens on the map by doing certain actions, which would unlock gens and eventually looping spots, while making the "base" generators to be in a rather unsafe spots.

It would actually make camping killer not to be efficient still, since they cannot pressure the map properly, while making non-camping killer to be rewarded for not camping since they could prevent repairs consistently and force survivors to unlock looping spots/more gens/looping spots.

  • the hook scream just needed the tone lowered and it would have been fine. now we get this one note boring bleah...

  • he may be weak, but he is hands down the most unfun killer to play against. it is boring and frustrating and most freddys play the same. hook- wait- tunnel- repeat.

  • floating around as nurse giving easy games without ruin while not taking bs from anyone, because if they do i can just kill them. A good way to relax after playing any walking killers.

  • god it is so painful reading some of these comments... I am so glad the devs have started to ignore survivors and actually realise what needs to be done. i hope they don't change their minds.

  • as you kill survivors the detection area of whispers widens. it starts at 28m with 4 alive and gets to 42m.
