  • The problem with the Wraith for solo survivors is that I have seen a growing number of them simply cloak right next to the hook after hooking and down anyone who tries the rescue. So he gets a two for one while camping. I dont think there has ever been a game I or any others except for maybe SWF that have beaten him. It just gets old playing with him sitting there doing nothing getting the 4K for such little effort.

  • Most Resident Evil fans, which I have been since it came out 25 years ago, will have a hard time with the game. Playing against a Tyrant, Nemesis, or others monsters is one thing but against some of the toxic players on DBD is something totally different. They will either be okay with it or simply not play. It will be the DBD community who will benefit the most from the added characters.

If you take a Killer of an equal skill level as the Survivors, that Killer will lose in Red Ranks most of the time.

The issue is that Survivor is so easy that people do not learn and the average Survivor at Red Ranks is really a Green Rank Survivor in practical skill.

I just see red rank killers cleaning up and in all the vast array of games I play each week they all cant be over ranked green survivors,,, this game has to be somewhat killer-sided?? Not talking about those who run SWF,,, merely solo survivors. By its very nature, survivors have to worry about killers who are either, stealthy, invisible, can launch one-hit downs (which to me should never be allowed), can phase/vape, run super fast, throw bottles of lethal concoctions, launch great distances to strike,,,and this doesnt even take into account their perks. As well, not even talking about killers like the Doctor who can simply run around charging everywhere to see where you are and strike.

What can survivors do,,,gens and totems thats it. Survivors are def no where near as fast as killers,,,even the slowest ones. If you cant loop than you are toast (which I know "git guud" at looping then). You are toast if do not time things exact with killers who can phase/vape, if you are against a Wraith might as well hang it up because even though he gives you a notification when he de-cloaks he is still within striking range. Demogorrgen maybe,,, but he is the one who can launch great distances to strike and if timing and location are not exact then you are toast. I am not even getting into hit boxes which are so absurdly off in this game its not funny. It has always amazed me at how you are vaulting through a window and you look back and the killer is a distance away yet somehow gets the hit??? To me it all comes down to how good you are at looping and how much of the killers time you can waste with it. If you are not good at looping you might as well find a different game and that is sad.

From the game's main menu pick survivor and in that lobby you can invite friends to the same lobby, up to 4 total, and as a group you (eventually) find a killer and the countdown begins.

I play on Xbox1 and when I'm playing survivor with friends we often are in a voice chat party, but not always. Nearly all those I game with are former strangers who I met in-game and messaged them after. I believe PlayStations have something similar, and for PC there's that Discord thingy I believe.

Killers currently aren't notified if they are facing a SWF (sometimes called a pre-made team) but veteran killers can figure it out or check profiles, etc. and dodge if they choose.

Awesome thank you for clearing that up I had no idea.

  • @Pulsar said:

I mean, it is a strategy. Tunneling is a great strategy and is usually in the Killer's best interest. A 4v1 is massively against you as Killer, but a 3v1 is far more manageable. Ergo, kill someone off ASAP so you don't have to sweat.

Saying tunneling isn't a strategy is like saying slamming gens isn't a strategy.

It isn't fun for the person getting tunneled, but to say it isn't an effective and viable strat is just false.

See this is the part I do not understand. All killer mains say this game is heavily sided for survivors but how is that when I WAS a red rank solo survivor (before the rank reset) and can play pretty well yet I win maybe one game a night now as a solo survivor in a four hour game play. I am certainly not the best and have my potato moments but almost every game I play there is some form of tunneling and face camping. Yes, it is a tactic (albeit I think lazy because it works and it requires little to no effort) but when almost every game killers are doing it and winning, it leaves little to no chance for survivors to win so again I ask how is it this game is survivor sided? I am genuinely asking.

Not talking about the SWF teams who have a better chance, but for the large majority of us who dont run a team I do not see how because I am so badly losing every match and I know it is not because of my skill. I will give you there is a large percentage of baby survivor players who suicide on the hook or DC which has affected my games but still when that doesn't happen here comes the tunneling or camping killer. It is my contention this game is heavily killer sided because you do not have to rely on the game play others as a killer. A bad team mate or two can make all this difference in whether you win or lose badly. Also, you have one objective with no worries because solo survivors cant hurt you or kill a killer. I have played a killer before, I find it way easier than solo survivor, and I have no idea what I am doing as a killer. Literally I just run around aimlessly killing but yet I win.

  • I have learned the hard way not to concern myself with that little number in the upper right hand corner (rank) because it is really not a good indicator on how good you are at the game. So many factors come into play. Just before the rank reset I was a red rank (4) solo survivor. Now, I am a rank 7 survivor about to go to rank 8. Most of this is due to a lot (and I mean a lot) of selfish baby solo survivor players DC'ing or suiciding on the hook after maybe 30 secs of play because they got caught by the killer. I cant tell you how many times I have rushed all the way over to the other side of a map only to see a player suicide on the hook right in front of me. Also, while in the level 7 rank I have had an extreme amount of level 1 prestige killers who obviously know what they are doing and won fair and square. It all still sucks but you have to tell yourself it is a game and enjoy the parts of it that are good. When you do win savor that and remember that feeling when you go on an inevitable losing streak. It happens,,,some days are better than others.

  • I am somewhat new to the game so I would ask how does a SWF team get on and play together? Is there a certain place to go to play as a team? If so do killer mains know this or is it a surprise to them after the game ends?

  • I would take any of the above just the very fact that Resident evil is coming to DBD is amazing!

It’s really just the first tip when you haven’t faced that specific killer 2 or 3 times already. After that you won’t get the tips anymore.

Gotcha, I will have to play more attention when the game is starting.

  • I try not to get into all the trash talking in the chat. I see it and even if they are talking about me I try not to respond. It is incredibly hard sometimes esp when they accuse you of doing something wrong or how you could have been better. Like others have said, its a lot of bruised ego's and babies in adult bodies.

It actually is, i was hoping for this for month, and i think i will be happy for however they choose as a killer, if it's not from RE 5-6, i would even be happy with Jack backer, but behavior could even just make as a surprise with Lady demestrecu, that would be even a good idea for both company , since it would make people more interested in playing the new RE game, and of course, i don't have to say why having RE as a dlc would be incredible for dbd

I didnt even think about that,,,they could run the baddy from the new Resident Evil Village which would make players want to buy that game too,,,win win for DBD and Capcom.

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Playing as a stealth killer? Well don’t worry the loading screen will drop “tips” saying “when facing Ghostface” or Myers etc. Doesn’t that ruin the element of surprise for the Killer cause now the survivors know who they are facing off the bat. By that point might as well show the Killer in the loading screen lobby.

I have never noticed this? I always get the same type of hints before the game I dont think I ever noticed killer hints?

  • My hope is for Leon but I suspect Claire or Jill along with Tyrant or Nemesis. Also, as for maps a part of Raccoon City would be cool or even the mansion.

  • Could you imagine killer running around yelling STARS LOL,,,best info yet for a great game!

  • Raging much?? LOL

  • Just heard Resident Evil was coming to DBD that awesome! My hope is Nemesis or Tyrant.

  • Def Resident Evil inside of the mansion!

  • I have to tell you as a solo survivor when I hear that StarStruck sound I am oh sh*t lol.

I wholeheartedly disagree (in terms of resident evil) with every fiber of my being and I'm pretty sure the majority people do too.

I think after they add this chapter they should pull an operation health and just fix bugs and make it harder for cheaters. It doesn't matter what content you add it's only going to keep dying out until next time. They need to make it fun to play on a normal basses so it works.

I think you are right,,,they need to fix hit boxes (totally off on some hits), some pallet drops for some reason put you on the same side as the killer, oh and my favy when somone DC's just before the game starts I lose a pip every time and that is totally unfair.

  • Thats a good question I would like to know this as well because if so you can heal and get healed like super fast.

  • Kindred is a great info perk,,,that run with borrowed time to help with saves is a good half of a build I think.

  • Not me,,,I play solo survivor so when I get lucky and play against a killer and win, I do my part to help others and leave. No reason to do anything toxic or crappy if you happen to win the game fast. I played killer for a few times, it is hard and yes there are toxic survivors who do dumb stuff. I can only guess they are kids or kids in adult bodies.

We will have to agree to disagree. To me your posts just sound like one endless blame game, filled with biased, snide little comments like "Lazy Killers" and the like. For the record, I don't play Bubba or Wraith. :) I play both Survivor and Killer and statistically I run into the same things you do. The difference between us is that I don't seem to have problems surviving, or at least I don't seem to share your frustration when I don't.

My own advice to you, and to anyone like you is that I don't think it is possible to get truly good at this game, nor fully enjoy yourself, until you own your failures with the same passion as you own your victories. You have no power over how other people play the game. You have no power over the rules of the game. You only have power over how YOU play the game and how you CHOOSE to perceive it. With that in mind, what do you think is more productive for you?

    1. Complaining about other people and the game here, passing the buck, and lamenting obstacles.
    2. Or, studying ways you can overcome or mitigate those obstacles in the game?

I'm not trying to trigger you or be snide myself. I'm just pointing out an inescapable fact here. Forums can be useful for the odd venting session. I see the value in that, but what happens far more often is they become hive mind echo chambers and negative feedback loops. Instead of venting, you just keep going over the same ground, working yourself up into a fervor and doubling down on your own frustration. When I see that, I kind of shrug and think, "I feel sorry for that guy or gal. Why are they doing this to themselves?"

Because therein lies the rub; you are doing it to yourself. The Killer is just the Killer, and the game is just the game. If you aren't having fun playing this one, there are countless games at our fingertips at all times. Vagabond down to the next one and see if it suits you better. If you mean to stay, I want you to have fun and you aren't going to get there following your current path. You are passionately having this discussion with me, but I can't help think that it isn't really me you are trying to convince. You are reiterating your position over and over again because you are trying to convince yourself. We lie best when we lie to ourselves, and to accept what I am suggesting is to accept that all those times you died on the hook were your OWN fault. That is a hard thing to do, but I submit is it the only way you are going to get to where you want to go, i.e. back to the fun.

Of course there is one other possible option here. You might be one of those people who just enjoys complaining about things. I hope not, but it is possible. If so, I find that strange but you be you.

Annndd it sounds like your posts are one long affront for killers who do something that by its very definition is lazy. When you are playing a game that pretty much requires you to rove around finding survivors to kill and when you find one, you hook them, and sit there for half the match sorry that's lazy,,,what else is it from the jump? I have played killer and witnessed toxic crap from survivors too so I am def not blaming just killers there is plenty to go around. But when all I hear is how killers "have to do this" when it is clear there ARE other ways to play it makes me wonder. There ARE killers who camp from the jump and thats lazy when most good killers only do this at the end or when they have to. That I can understand. But, when they do it from second one of the game and while sitting in front of the hook shake their head up and down, they are being toxic and I cant for the life of me understand why anyone would abacate that behavior.

Alas, it is okay, as you have written we will have to agree to disagree. No reason to write back, thank you for the back and forth.

  • @Lx_malice said:

Legit question for all my fellow red rank players out there. We all know that rank means little to nothing, but let's say, hypothetically, rank was an actual accurate measure of your skill. Do you believe that you would still deserve to be in red ranks? Why? If not then what rank do you think you'd actually be in?

I have actually thought about this for a few weeks now. At first I was like I am not that good as a solo survivor to be at red ranks and I must have been carried by other better players. This may be true if your running SWF but not solo gaming. However, since the rank reset I am struggling to get back there. I dont know why this is,,,is it because of the rank reset or I am not actually as okay as I thought I was? Finally, I have to tell myself that almost every other game there is a solo survivor suiciding on the hook or DC'ing after their first down and then I am reminded this is a team sport and if they team sucks we all do. Unfortunately, this has a direct affect on my ranking. So I have stopped looking at that little number in the upper right hand corner of my screen, it doesnt meaning anything.

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

I'm sorry, but I'd prefer to not see my teammates self-care in the corner while the other guy gets camped.

Again, it isn't just because they can, but rather because they are not built for the other type of chase. Let's talk Killers now that can't Camp for crud, but are wonderful on the chase. Consider Spirit and Blight. These are high mobility Killers who have no trouble whatsoever keeping up Gen-Pressure because they can be anywhere on the map quickly. However, if they stay by the hook they have problems. Blight isn't good up close unless he is already chasing you on the run. Spirit's haunting is not really designed for defending a hook. Can they camp? Sure, but it goes against their strengths, and that is why you don't see it that often. I'm sure there are plenty of Players (I know there are for a fact) that complain about these two saying their Gen-Pressure is unfun to play against. :) Do you see where I'm going with this? Killers are going gravitate to the play their Powers are best suited to do. People hate Freddy too because he is not only good at high mobility, he also can camp with the best of them. :)

My point is that the Killers which seem to be the most popular with EVERYONE in so far as going against them are the ones that are generalists, i.e. they do NOTHING well. Imagine that. I, personally, have fun playing against ALL the Killers, but I understand that fun is subjective and I must bring my own. I get my enjoyment from the challenge, not the win. I don't value wins unless they are hard fought and the outcome was in question. My fun is in the fight. Far too many people seem to think the fun comes from somewhere else, external rather than their own competitive spirit. Let's talk about games for second, philosophically.

When we watch kittens play, they are having fun but they are also practicing the behaviors they will need to hunt, kill, and succeed as adult cats. When we watch baby goats play at butting heads, they are having fun chasing each other and headbutting, but the point of the game is learn certain skills. Games are practice. They are fun because of the challenge, not the outcome. Human beings, particularly adults, don't have to play games to hone any skills to survive. We play them purely for the enjoyment. That enjoyment only lasts as long as there is a challenge, because there is no other point, i.e. purpose. This is why we outgrow certain games as we get older. How old were you when you stopped playing Cops & Robbers? My guess is when you were just old enough to realize there were no rules and no real outcomes. Candyland is the same. You stop playing it the moment you realize you actually have zero input on the outcome; it is entirely random. I could go on and on. As we age, we demand more and more input, the ability to drive the outcome from our games. The desire for skill based, competitive things is all that is left.

Most people don't understand this or don't WANT to understand it. They think fun is something that can be mechanically managed or external, when it is entirely internal. You only get out of games what you put into them. PvP games are competitive, even when they are not balanced. There is this argument that DbD isn't competitive because of the imbalance issues. I say poppycock. Everything is competitive, i.e. you are striving against someone or even yourself. Fair and being a good sport only requires staying within the OFFICIAL rules of the game and being polite out of the game. If you aren't having fun because you are being camped, it is because YOU are frustrated and have decided you aren't having fun. It isn't the Killer's fault. It isn't even really the game design's fault. You are choosing to play it. Of all the thousands of games available, you chose to be on that hook. Accept it. Quit griping about other people and blaming your situation on them. You have in game options and you have out of game options. The only reason you are on that hook is because you made choices. You can choose to have fun even though you are on that hook.

I understand but, Bubba seems fast enough to me and downs people while chasing almost as much as any other killer yet I have seen him sit by the hook consistently. Now, you can explain away that type of lazy game play as a killer "playing to his strengths and/or understanding his weakness" but the player still has the choice to go after survivors and put pressure. He is certainly capable of this while not having to camp so close to the hook the survivor could probably smell his breathe. I am sorry, there is a reason and direct correlation as to why suiciding on the hook and DC'ing is off the chain these days and it is because of this particular style of game play. I mean honestly, we train 6 year old kids to conduct harder tasks. There is NO tactic and/or skill required to hook, then take your hands off the keyboard because you dont have to do a thing until that survivor is dead. Instead of Dead by Daylight this game should then be called Camp by Daylight. Similarly, a Wraith hooking then cloaking right next to the hook and (like Bubba) taking his hands off the keyboard because he doesnt have to do anything else until someone foolishly tries a rescue or the survivor is dead.

Like I said, this type of lazy game play (make no mistake it is lazy because it works with little to no effort) entices other survivors who are not the best at juking or looping (which should NOT be a requirement to play the game) to simply DC or hook suicide as soon as the see or know the killer is sitting there like a child so he can get that 4K. Others will say "well git guud" LOL,,,I have been playing for 5 months now and I still have not perfected looping. As a matter of fact, I watch all the "pro's" on Twitch and YouTube and even they can only loop for so long until the killer gets a hit in or downs them and they are great at the game!

Most will say "then just do gens while the killer is camping" well that is all good because you can run Kindred and see that the killer is camping. However, with Wraith another sneaky killers you cant see their aura so you have no idea and most solo survivors will now hesitate to go in for the save. This again causes other solo survivors to figure "well there goes one or even two survivors (if they went for the save) so the game is over" and they do nothing or DC themselves. At the very least, solo survivors like me who never DC or hook suicide it just makes my game entirely more frustrating for no reason then simply to justify lazy game play. I know this is happening,,,it happens every single night I play, its not isolated incidences, it is happening a lot and it is the direct result of some campy and tunneling killer mains. Maybe once all four survivors DC and a crap load of killers get no points consistently will it change.

Bubba and the Wraith have powers which make camping particularly effective. That isn't an issue to bring up with those Players, but rather one that you should aim at the DEV. I'm never going to grief or judge a Player over doing the best with what they have to work with within the rules. I will, however, send my suggestions to the DEV when I think a Killer's design lends itself to one dimensional play. Leatherface's "tantrum" allows him to take out multiple people up close. However, the only way he can get a group together is during rescues. He is not a stealth Killer and thus catching clumps of Survivors out on the hunt is really a matter of them being terrible rather than anything the Killer can do. His only option to make his special power work on the offense is to take Perks which temporarily give him Stealth abilities. In short, the design of that Killer (for example) makes the Players have to work REALLY hard and go out of their way to take things they have no interest in. Is it any surprise that more Bubba types prefer to camp or use a Honey Pot gambit?

Let's consider Wraith, both before and after the recent update. He can go really fast while invisible. Great. Uncloaking, however, takes time and without rare Add-on(s) must be announced. Just like Bubba, his awesome powers are far less effective on the hunt than they are camping. If I'm watching a hook (I don't even have to be close as an invisible Wraith) I can learn to time my approach as I see the approaching would-be rescuer. I can start my movement and uncloaking at just the right time that I'm ready to attack as their unhook animation ends (or before the unhook even starts but after they are committed and in the open dead zone). Do you see where I'm going with this? Wraith simply works better proxy camping without serious Add-on toys. That isn't the Killer's fault. I'm not going to ask that Killer to work against their strengths just so I can say, "good job old chap... you are one of the good ones... for being stupid."

I submit these are design imperatives built into their powers. That is something we should be talking to the DEV about, not judging/griefing other Players for.

Yeah I see what your saying but it just makes those games really suck when a Wraith sits at a hook doing nothing else but waiting for someone to unhook to down them too,,,and then keep doing this until either survivors stop rescuing or everyone is dead. Just seems lazy to me even if you can do it maybe try to play the game straight up and pressure gens. Or a Bubba who sits equally right next to a hooked survivor, I mean like two inches from him, and keeps doing that until every is dead or players stop trying to rescue. There has got to be a better way to play simply than "just because you can".

I've no idea; I can't speak for other Players. I play both Killer and Survivor. I am also a Red Rank Killer staying between 1-3 for most of a month. As a Survivor I sometimes make it down to Rank-4 (I play primarily Solo) and stay between 4-6 for the most part. The lowest I have ever gotten is Rank-3. Solo is harsh mistress. I have not noticed any change in how the Killers play right after the reset, so my gut reaction is no there is no extra impetus to get right back on the Red Rank horse.

I DO record all my games, because I want to be able to report offenses, and because I like to review things to discover what I could have done better. I do track all sorts of behaviors for my own personal statistics, and things which "actually" count as Tunneling and Camping are not near as common as other people seem to think. For one thing, Tunneling is NOT defined as the Killer choosing to go after the person just unhooked. Traditionally, Tunneling was defined as going after the same Survivor until they are dead, despite other, better options.

If you don't give the Killer better options and/or do unsafe rescues, that isn't Tunneling. That is bad Survivor teamwork. If you want to see GOOD Survivor teamwork, watch Bully Squads in action. While I find these people deplorable, they at least understand how Survivors work together to prevent any one person from being Tunneled out and killed. Bully Squads are masters at aggressive play, rescues, sabotage, stealing chases, and taking protection hits and/or trading hooks if things get that desperate. I submit, if there are teams of Survivors who can go at the Killer head on using these tactics, then the average Survivors SHOULD be able to use these same tactics in far less stressful circumstance. The very existence of Bully Squads invalidates any arguments against Tunneling being commonplace.

I hear ya. When I say tunneling I am talking about yes killers who go a few more feet than normal from the hook (simply to whine about how they are not camping which is indeed what they are still doing) and come right back to down that player again and keep doing it until they are dead. The problem is if the solo player thinks this is going on they usually are DC'ing or suicide on the hook because honestly why keep playing when you see the killer staying near you to do this over and over again? Had a Bubba do this last night and a Wraith as well cloak simply to sit by the hook,,,I mean c'mon that totally takes the fun out of the game. This IS what makes people go SWF.

Ironic to see this, the 13th was one of the most unfun survivor nights I can remember in a long time. Lots of killers playing in a way to

intentionally ruin all four survivior's games. Full moon or something i guess.

Dude, is it something about rank reset that brings out the worst in killers? I have never EVER seen this many tunnelers and campers in my life. In 4 hours of game play not one game won,,,not one. I am a decent (not great by any stretch) red rank survivor and wow have the last two night sucked. To be fair though some of the games were lost because survivor's DC/ suicide on the hook because they were downed fast.

    Survivors need to go.

They keep t-bagging me, using flashlight macros, taking sweaty offerings like Haddonfield when I am just trying to have fun, saying mean things in post game chat almost every game. In my opinion survivors need to get out of the game.

Well good for me then you killer mains who actually do tunnel and camp from the get up ( you know the ones who talk crap on here about how they never do it, or as a last resort) can then tunnel and camp each other LOL.

  • @Moundshroud said:

I submit "Tunneling" isn't statistically different now than it was before the patch that changed DS or even than it was a year ago. The only thing that is different is that it has become normalized to call literally EVERYTHING Tunneling. There was time when that was not acceptable, and when you would be promptly corrected for it. Now, not so much. Everything is Camping and Tunneling, the terms are so subjective and abused that they are about as worthless as saying something is toxic. People have become so accustomed to the constant whining drone of people scapegoating their personal failures, that we no longer correct them on it. Unchallenged, it has become normalized. This in turn leads to the "perception" being the accepted reality.

No, you aren't being Tunneled anymore than before. Survivors are doing the same unsafe rescues and poor plays as far as teamwork which leads to the same person being hit twice in a row (also that isn't automatically Tunneling either). The change is everyone seems to accept now that poor play on the part of Survivors is somehow the Killer's fault.

I have to completely and utterly disagree with you! I was a red rank survivor before the rank reset and now in almost all of my games some killer (most rank 1 prestige killers to make it worse) are tunneling and camping right out of the gate. It is so bad I am going to start to record games in one single 4 hour game play at night and post the results here to combat the "it doesnt happen that much" argument. In 10 games last night 4 of them had tunnel killer mains. I am talking going straight past other viable targets and going right for the unhooked survivor from start to finish. In the other 6 games there was two really bad campers. I am talking a bubba who stood two feet from the hook with his head going up and down waiting for survivors. So my experiences are not just complaining and/or a perception issue, there is a crap load of it going on.

Now, I have a question, as I have played this game for only 5 months, is tunneling and camping more prevalent right after rank reset. In other words, are killer mains pulling out all the stops just to get back where they were because it has been really REALLY bad in the last day or two. As a matter of fact, this causes the opposite problem in games where solo survivors are DC'ing and/or suicide on the hook when they see this. Which begs another question. Killer mains whine about SWF but they cause their own problems because I am looking for a team now simply to counter this type of game play. I have to because I am losing every single game each night and I know I am not great but I am not that bad also.

I got tunneled out by a wraith earlier at 5 gens, he point blank refused to hit anyone else so point blank refused in fact that after I died he just followed everyone else around never hit them & watched them leave.

To top it off in the very next game I got the exact same killer & he did the exact same thing again!

I must have pissed him off big time in a previous game even though I don't play remotely toxic. Waited a few minutes to start another game after that.

Mostly 3 & 4 person escapes today though killers (red & purple in my games) seem to be having a bad day

I hate wraiths who cloak then sit by the hook waiting for survivor players to try the save then down them. Happened to me the other night and I got the same killer doing the same thing next game. So now I wait in between games in the hopes not to get the same people.

Lots of tunneling and semi camping Tricksters. Lots of try-hard survivors who rush for flashlight saves that they never get. Lots of hook farming teammates. Very little diversity in the killers I face.

I finally switched out Self Care (yes I am bad) for Inner Strength. I like it so far, but I wish it let you save 2 charges after cleansing 2 totems.

Overall, it seems like everyone on both sides are being super sweaty compared to how it was 3-4 months ago.

This 100 percent! Both sides have seen sweaty players, campers, tunnelers, just plain crappy game play. Everyone is trying to get those ranks where they were however they can, I am hoping this calms down in a day or so?? I dont know is it usually this bad after rank reset??

  • I am way more scared of the survivor player who DC's or suicides on the hook for no reason than the killer. This has been happening so much more than it ever has which makes the game unplayable for the most part.

  • It used to be if someone has a key then it was a good thing...now I just dodge those players in the lobby because they usually sit at the edges waiting for the hatch to spawn and leave while I am on the hook or running a killer.

    How are my games 'going'?

    Not well, b1tch!

I would say at the moment the overwhelming majority of games are frustrating as survivor. I am playing on because of the minority that are actually fun, but there are a lot more unfun games lately unfortunately and I'm not too sure why. This is Solo Q of course.

I'm not a try-hard sweaty survivor, I just want to play the game as intended and I am careful about where I run in chases (so as not to lead the killer to an unfinished gen, healing survivors, away from someone else who is currently hooked etc), I don't unhook people in front of the killer's face unless they are literally about to die and then I will aim to take the hit for them, I heal whenever possible, I work on generators as much as I can when I see the killer is occupied, I try to improve my looping and try not to waste pallets etc etc - it's not even about skill as I don't think I'm particularly skilled, I just try and behave responsibly and cooperatively.

Unfortunately that seems to be a minority mentality, and I don't know why. I don't understand why people choose to play a team game that is reliant on teamwork if they don't act like it. Play something else.

My survivor matches have been horrible.

The first game I had was a invisi-camping Wraith who tunneled everyone off the hook.

Second match I get useless teammates who sat on gens instead of helping downed/hooked teammates. That was a quick game, to say the least.

Third match I had a AFK Bill on my team and a Yui that was working with the killer.

Needless to say, I quit out of frustration.

I think this game has finally wore me down. Out of 10 game played tonight 4 of them had camping red rank killers. The rest were okay but man are these killers trying too hard,,,is it the rank reset? I dont know, I have only been playing a few months and man after that reset I am lucky if I win 2 games a night. I was a red rank survivor now purple trying to get a good game where survivors dont DC or suicide on the hook after getting downed one time. I am just done with the frustration. Devs are NOT going to do anything about it, thank God Resident Evil is coming out soon, you can have this game!!!!

  • Must be nice to run with a team and win that much,,,solo sucks and players are just de-pipping and de-ranking because someone suicides on the hook because they got hooked first and/or DC. I have given up keeping my rank since no one else seems to care about theirs. This is not to mention the various pips I lose because someone DC before the match starts which happens routinely!!

  • Pretty crappy,,,we are still losing a pip and de-ranking because some butthead DC's while in the lobby and just before the game,,,that was fun. Still having players DC and suicide on the hook for no damn good reason. Had one killer tunnel and camp which I am sure he will be on here later talking about how he never does that, or it never happens only as a last resort LOL. And to top it all off, every damn killer is pulling out Freddy because they know he is getting nerfed soon, so like I said crappy!

  • Some players say you have the chance to get better items/perks if you prestige, I have noticed the exact opposite when I prestige. I am at 50 with my latest prestige and he has yet to get some really good perks.

  • There is so much crap and bias on this site and the game in general it is just nice to see good players having fun. Imaging that, having fun on a game that is meant to have fun,,,what an idea huh??

  • Had a game last night where the killer had two survivors left and kept slugging both then picking up one and walking to the other side of the map for them to wiggle off then run them to down them again,,, this kept on like 5 times. The other survivor bled out then finally I just gave up and stopped wiggling so he dropped me and I bled out. What was the purpose of this other than possibly a 6 year old playing? So yeah some sort of limit is needed.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

No, even if you tunnel, camp, run ruin, undying, noed and insideous, it doesn't make you a bad person. Don't let others tell you how to play the game. As long as you follow the rules set by the devs you're a-okay in my book. I may not like the strategies you use, but I will not think of you negatively, though I will probably be a little frustrated.

The only things I can think of that killers can do that will make me think they're bad people are:

    1. Slugging and letting people bleed out just because they can. Slugging for the 4k is different, the slugging I am talking about is when hatch is closed and you can hook the survivor but choose to let them bleed out.
    2. Working with a survivor to kill their teammates. You should kill the back stabbing survivor, not the ones who are trying to have a fair game.
    3. Hitting a survivor on hook. It doesn't do much and actually wastes your time but it's obvious that a killer is toxic when they do that.
    4. Tunneling because you don't like the survivor that the player has chosen and not because you need to. I shouldn't have to suffer when I play Claudette just because the killer has bad past experiences against players who play as her.
    5. Body Blocking someone in a corner and forcing them to dc in order to move on. That's just outright vile and I hope killers who do this end up with poop as hard, large and rough as a pineapple.

I have always wondered that and not one killer main has ever answered my question of why killers continually hit you after being hooked and you are floating up after the entity takes you??

  • @darlazon said:

When I'm on someone getting off hook, even if I am pretty sure they don't have Decisive or Borrowed Time, I will let them go in favor of uninjured, unhooked survivor. And in the endgame I will purposely leave hooked survivors because I will feel like a dick for camping them. Am I being too nice? Am I handicapping myself?

Solo survivors like me really appreciate killers like you even if we lose. Some players really forget its not whether you win or loss its how you play the game.

killed 2 people after this ######### went down. they did 2 gens. There was a Kate and a Felix. I chased the Kate until she gave up and emotionally broke. She went afk, I had her on my back she was my back buddy.

I found the hatch before it spawned in with blight rush bug. I sat on it with hex ruin, surveillance, undying, and tinkerer. They cleansed both totems. Felix 75% 3 gens and I went to go kick them. He never touched them ever again he hid. I tried letting the Kate go and following her to see if she'd bring me to Felix as I haven't seen him yet and he hasn't been hooked. She was literally a lima bean. She never brought me to him. After she pissed me off enough I put her back on my back and sat on the hatch that has yet to be spawned.

I then went to go play Mario kart 8 while waiting for tinkerer to proc. It never did, I played 4 Mario kart 8 circuits and if you were wondering I got 1st for 3 of the 4 circuits (200cc). I got bored of Mario kart and this fiend hasn't done one generator. I go watch some YouTube on my phone while I wait. 20 minutes have past no gens. At this point I was devoted to winning.

I dropped the Kate had her bleedout ontop of the not even spawned hatch closed it instantly and zoomed back and forth to the exit gates. I finally found the Felix once I found him I let him get up just so I could hit him again. After doing this like 4 times I dragged his useless cheeks to a corner and let the timer kill him.

    OUTPLAYED SUPERIOR GAMER

Dude wow,,,there is absolutely nothing here I would ever post or ever be proud of LOL but okay glad you got your rocks off.

Sadly camping is a necessary evil for many killers who struggle to keep up with broken map design and insane survivor perks. Take Trickster for example, you literally cannot get kills on him without actually camping and tunneling someone. This is one strategy which he absolutely needs to even function.

I have to disagree, I have found more and more Trickster's in games who are very good. In fact, in the two games I played with him last night he dominated. I dont think he needs the buff he is getting but then again I dont killer main. He is a playable good killer because I have seen level 3 and 4 killers work him fine and apply good pressure.

My biggest gripe isn’t the Killers who camp, or that BHVR doesn’t do more to discourage it...

My problem is with the survivors who kill themselves. We’re suppose to be a team, a 4v1, you are suppose to help me survive...even if you can not.

I know your sitting on a hook, with a killer camping, and you see your three team mates on a gen not trying to save you.

I still need you to be the bigger person and survive as long as you can. Christ, I’ve been that guy, we all have, but in SoloQ it feels like I’m the only one who gives a damn enough to waste the killers time.

They are successful and will keep camping since it takes so very little to trigger these damn survivors into killing themselves.

You are exactly right!!! If I am unfortunate to be the first on the hook and I see the killer camping, I will sit there and struggle for as long as I can even though I know no one is coming. I know this just wasnt my game but I will waste as much time as I can while the others are doing four gens and out the gates.

Well when you play nice as killer, for me that's picking someone like trapper, clown, plague or huntress (no iri infantry) then get stomped for a couple of games you need the boost to continue playing or switch games (league of legends is great rn, so is sea of thieves and ESO). But yeah, after about 6-7 games of just getting Your dick smashed because you picked a nicer killer with nicer builds you need that W.

I hear ya, I just pick a survivor and a build that works for me and you win some and you lose some minus all that other crap.

Tunneling is effective, yes. And it is scummy. But I've realised that the only way to consistently win (3k usually is pip, if I'm not camping, which I don't do unless to secure that last kill) so yeah, I don't do it every game but if I feel I need a moral boost and a reason to continue playing I'll play a game of sweaty nurse or tunnel the hell out of survivors with a hag build I've thought up.

Even against swf tunneling is effective if done correctly. I always hit the unhooker once, and if the team continues to body block that means they're off gens. If I get a down I'll slug. Against swf, I don't care how scummy I seem. I'll get at least a 2k and safety pip most games. Because I played super scummy and my pocket picks/mains are nurse, hag and deathslinger. They're pretty strong aside from deathslinger and I'm slowly realising the divide between my nurse and hag, it's ridiculous. If I play nurse against swf 4 man it's like playing deathslinger against a team of competent solos. Difficult, but not unbeatable.

Like I said, at least your honest about the scummy plays lol. Kinda sad though you need a moral boost like that but hey to each his own.

  • There should be a match with nothing but killer mains fighting each other every other couple of games as a requirement so they can all complain to each other for the tunneling/camping of each other that they "only do as a last resort", even though it seems to be the "go to tactic" in every camping/tunneling match I have played.
