I would definitely agree that the Pig needs a buff, and I think you have a few good suggestions, but all of your suggestions together would be a bit too much, I think.
Here are the ones that have the most merit, I think:
1) Her ambush lunge attack should allow her to jump over a pallet that has been downed. If the pallet is turned over during her travel time through that area, she would be stunned as normal.
2) The sound for her ambush should trigger as soon as she starts the lunge (instead of as soon as she starts charging it up, as it is now).
3) Survivors should not see RBT timer, but the Pig should. Survivors should still know when the trap triggers and hear beeping that increases in frequency the less time they have remaining on the trap.
4) I agree with increasing crouch movement speed, but only from 90% (as it is now) to 100%....125% crouch movement speed would be ridiculous. That's faster than normal killer speed. The rest of it I don't think would fit, especially your suggestions for the ultra rare addons...I'm not sure I fully understand what you are proposing with those, but survivors being able to kill other survivors seems to not fit with the lore, and I'm not sure why completing a generator would be reason to kill another survivor...I also don't think it should cause them to lose points when they finish one and someone has a RBT.
An addon that makes the sound on the reverse beartrap timer go crazy as if they only have a few seconds left when they actually have more time than that sounds like fun, though, and in the spirit of a horror game

"I am still relatively new to this game" Here's your answer. It is hard to play killer when you're new, because some perks are a necessity in most games (such as Hex: Ruin). Not to mention that rank reset happened, which might be why you're getting more experienced survivors. Killer gets progressively harder and harder, survivor does too, but not as much as killer does. After all, once you spend enough time in killer, you will feel like Survivors: some games you get destroyed, some games you absolutely dominate the survivors.
Yeah, already I can kind of see some of that....It gets frustrating for me because I'll have a couple of good games in a row and I'll start feeling more confident and like I'm finally getting the hang of this killer thing....then I'll queue into a group that just powers through my ruin (or kills it early) and get hit with every pallet along the way and wonder what happened.
I actually felt like overall, survivor gets easier with rank increase, though. I have a lot more difficult time from 16 through about 10 than I do above 10, because in lower ranks, a lot of survivors will either dc, bleed themselves out, or we'll do 2 generators and then everyone hides because they figure at least we'll get the hatch. If I'm the only one out there doing objectives, then I'm the one that gets caught and one of the f***ers hiding in a locker (occasionally popping out to hook farm me in front of the killer) get the hatch.
Whereas in higher ranks, I've found there are more survivors that are capable of leading the killer in long chases. I run empathy for this purpose, and can often do several generators while just 1 or 2 of the people that love getting chased (often seen in bright pink clothing with a flashlight) run the killer around. So there's no skill required for me other than keeping an eye out and crouching away if the killer looks in my direction and holding M1 down.

They’re just saying there is so much more to care about, like balance issues, perks, etc. that the ethnicity of their survivor is the last thing they would care about.BearTrapSnap said:I saw some people saying they didn't care about what ethnicity a new survivor is. Why not? -

Sort of, but maybe it's not that you are "good at survivor" but that you are focused on performing a singular objective as survivor, whereas playing as killer forces you to multitask constantly and puts pressure on you to make it fun for everyone else too.Yeah this could be part of it. And you're right about trying to make it fun for everyone else. I never purposely tunnel anyone, even if they are being obnoxious. Just a couple of games ago, I kept on running into a David repeatedly and at one point I had him injured and if I downed him, he would've gone on his third hook when I'd only hooked one other person once. As soon as someone ran over one of my traps in the distance, I teleported to go kill them and let the David escape. I was not obligated to do so, but I did anyways, because I want everyone to have fun in my game. I did eventually end up killing 1 person towards the end and it was not the David, but the other 3 escaped. I still got 25k bloodpoints, which was higher than any 1 individual survivor, so I was happy with what I got. I had been using bbq and chili for this purpose, and managed to get at least 1 hook on everyone.
That being said, it's still quite a scramble out the gates to get everything set up while the little buggers are toolboxing my generators and killing my totems >.>....I wish they would give the killers a minute before the survivors spawn to set up on the map. For the killers that don't have setup, they could let you choose from a number of objects that you could place throughout the map which could do things like reduce your terror radius in that area, show survivors' aura within 5 yards of the object, and/or cause collision with the object. They could offer these objects to every killer, but Hag and Trapper would likely choose to set up their own traps first.

I’ve forgotten that I was waiting for a lobby before. I came back and went to start a new game only to see me in one with the exit gates open and survivors teabagging me :X.branchini1979 said:In the past few weeks now when I've been survivor I have had 4 games where my team completed 5 gens way too easy. I think they do know to some extent, but it's pretty much impossible to balance the game around both SWF and solo play. So they've settled for something that is too easy for SWF and too hard for solo play lol....In my opinion if they really want to balance the game, they need to go all one way or the other....either just support SWF and balance the game around that, or don't allow anyone to queue together.
At bare minimum, if they are not going to go one way or the other, I think they should make certain informational perks baseline, like Kindred or Bond, so solo players are also aware of their teammates' positions and whether or not the killer is camping or someone is going for a hook save.
Maybe balance the game around SWF but give people queueing up solo some sort of bonus? I don't know; it wouldn't be perfect, but there are some things they could try to do.
I wish they would only allow people to queue up solo. Keep KYF of course but only unranked matches and no random killers queueing into a group.

Just a few seconds, I think....enough for the killer to do a loop around the object you're crouched behind and think he lost you, but not enough for you to be a hook farmer. And of course if the killer knew where you hid and runs up and hits you, you would get hit and pop out of stealth. I would say rank 1/2/3 should be like 4/6/10 seconds.

Yeah this happened in a game where I played killer as well; I was feeling pretty good about the game. I hooked everyone at least twice, got lots of screams (hag on an indoor map when everything else is relatively quiet and enclosed can be scary) and 2 were kills and 2 people escaped. The second person to be killed just hit the other 2 survivors with a slew of abuse because they dared to leave while he was on his second hook. He actually gave justification for it, too....it was that he was the one that killed my Ruin totem....
Both of the people that escaped were on their last hook and I chased them together to the only exit that was currently open with both injured. And honestly even if that were not the case, who cares? You lost this one, buddy. Get a life (and some therapy) if it makes you that angry.
I just remember being completely floored, as I had never seen or heard anyone speak to anyone else like that before. It was kind of scary, to be honest. I mean....you can't be mentally stable if you get that angry at a game. I've gotten annoyed before when a survivor repeatedly unhooks me in front of the killer, but I usually just leave without a gg to anyone if I'm p***ed. I have never said anything to anyone else and usually I give a gg no matter what. I was so shocked that I immediately disconnected from the chat to stop the slew of verbal abuse and only realized afterwards that I should've reported him.

Maybe if they made her red addon baseline (to not see boxes before timer starts), they could instead have it give her additional RBTs. I know what you mean about the corn blindness; I can’t see s*** on that map lol.MegMain98 said:@serabeth90 said:
I think you should have enough RBTs to trap everyone twice and that they shouldn’t be able to see jigsaw auras until the timer starts. So no...you’re essentially asking forgiveness for tunneling a survivor that was not as strong of a player as the other 3. This happens to me all the time as a survivor and I don’t get upset; I’m still learning and my teammates are generally better players than I am.8 traps is SUPER powerful for The Pig. IMO max amount should be no more than 6. Jigsaw boxes shouldn’t light up for survivors until the timer starts. It shouldn’t be an add-on, it should be already included in the base set of The Pig.
I guess I was feeling mercy for the Jake player since I’ve been in that position before. I killed the Ace in the beginning and then the other two Claudette’s rushed the gens and Jake was just out in the open. It was the cornfield by the way and that map is not one of my favorites as I suffer heavily from corn blindness. I have a tough time as Myers and The Pig is WAY shorter than Myers. It was hell to say the least. Jake was just the easiest to find since Claudette usually blends into the corn.
I let him get the traps off while I tried chasing the Claudette players. I typically don’t tunnel the player with the RBT on their head, no point in doing that when you MAY be able to get a death due to that. Every time he got the RBT off I found him almost instantly. Poor Jakey Poo 😢

I frequently get hits on survivors through pallet stuns and I frequently get hit after pallet stunning killers when playing survivor. It’s supposed to be a bit better next patch as they are shortening the survivor animation to drop a pallet. But for now, just try to do it a split second earlier than you think you should. At worst, they won’t get stunned but you still dropped the pallet and can use it to gain some distance.

Play however you want as long as you’re not a jerk. If you want to carry a flashlight and run around in the open and get chased, go ahead. Keep the teabagging to a minimum though, leave when the game is over and exit gates are open, and be a good sport and give the killer a “gg” whether or not he was able to catch you.
If you want to play stealthy, also don’t be a jerk. If you are hiding in a locker the whole game and don’t help your team at all, you’re worse than the teabaggers. Choose perks that let you know when someone is in a chase, like bond or empathy, so you know when you can safely do generators. If your teammates have all been hooked 1-2 times and you have never been hooked, it’s your turn to do the next save (unless the killer is camping). -

It's frowned upon by the community and it's not a good strategy, but you can't report someone for face camping unless the same killer specifically targets you to face camp across multiple games, which is considered harassment.
Unless you were just mentioning the face camping as an aside when reporting someone you suspected of cheating....in which case, carry on :P.

They are balanced. Other killers need to be buffed to Hag/Billy level. When I play killer, I do my best to punish the idiot that unhooked a survivor right in front of me. Sometimes I really need a kill and I take it (not my fault, but the unsafe unhooker's fault) or sometimes I simply miss the healthy survivor and hit the injured one and roll with it :X. When I'm survivor, I usually just get downed again and put back up on the hook.

Just a side node. SWF can break the matchmaking so badly that a rank 18 beginner killer can verse three rank 1 survivors teaming up with a single rank 20 survivor (I will never forget that game, thats when I realized that killers are not OP)Yeah, I had this happen to me before. I had thought I was starting to get the hang of killer, so I was really bummed when I didn't get a single hook all game. At the end, one of the survivors threw himself onto a hook. I tried to let him go, since I hadn't earned the hook, but he insisted, so I did it to end the game. I then saw that they were all high rank and their friend was rank 20 and they explained they were teaching him how to play the game. None of them were rude to me so I didn't really mind, and I ended up putting the guy who gave me a free hook on my friends' list.
On another day, the three of them took me into my first SWF game as a rank 20 survivor (that's how I was rank 14 at the start of this week). It immediately struck me how much easier and calmer it was being on voice chat with everyone than when I had been playing solo. In fact, I didn't really have to do anything....we coordinated generator repairs and unhooking and won every game.
It was so boring that I have not queued up with them since then....I actually prefer solo play lol.
-
I think the Pig's red addon to make the Jigsaw boxes not visible when the trap hasn't started ticking should be baseline. I also think RBT timer should stay as it is but add enough Jigsaw boxes so that if the survivor does literally anything else other than run from box to box or misses any (good) skill checks, the trap will go off before they can get to the last box. That way, they could still get lucky and get it on the first box, but there is a sense of urgency in removing it as soon as possible. There would also be no reason for the Pig to chase that target, as they will not be doing anything towards the progression of the game.

Most killers use Iron Grasp and Agitation anyway, so wiggling is just a tease for most survivors.Yeah, this. I always do it unless there's no chance of anyone escaping, though. Even a few seconds of the killer getting caught on a doorway or something can be just enough to finish a gen, or opening the exit gates. Plus, there's nothing better to do while he's carrying you :P.
I don't think anything needs to be changed about wiggling, though. It's short enough baseline that the killer usually just takes you to the closest hook unless they have iron grasp or agitation. I think the mechanic is more in place so that a killer doesn't just walk around with an obnoxious teabagging survivor on their shoulder the rest of the game to punish them
. You should not have much of a chance at all of escaping once you have lost the chase. If it were any shorter, the killer would almost never get a survivor to the hook with all a team of 3 SWF bodyblocking the way each time. -
No -- instead, look at the reason why killers are using Ruin. Generators are completed way too quickly with a halfway competent team. You don't even need to be SWF. A game with 4 solos that I just played involved me and another player starting on 1 gen, a third player starting somewhere else, and after about a minute, the killer finding and chasing a 4th player. Eventually, the killer caught the 4th player. Our generator was done before the 4th player was downed and the third player finished his generator just as the 4th player got put on a hook. Two generators down and 1 hook is not how the game should work if all 4 survivors can be hooked up to three times.
Instead of making generator time longer or adding more generators though, I think they should make the game more interesting by adding more secondary objectives for the survivors.
-
Any game I play whenever discussing issues of balance, I feel like before nerfing any particular class, spec, whatever that seems OP, you should first bring anything that is underpowered up to speed, then watch and observe for a while, then carefully tune down or nerf one thing at a time that might be overpowered.
In other words, buff the killers that need it before touching nurse. Also, look into the reasons for why nurse is overpowered -- because pallet looping is a huge part of the game, and she counters it. Either change the game or give other killers better ways to counter looping.
I get what you're saying and I agree nurse is too strong compared to the other killers, but I think that's more because the other killers are too weak than that she is too strong.
-
I feel like if you get pallet slammed or blinded as you're carrying a survivor, then they should be awarded the save since you can avoid both of those things. Decisive strike is another story, but I think I read somewhere they were going to be nerfing that so it is just a stun to the killer (allowing time for people to get there with flashlight saves and/or more time to wiggle) instead of a drop. As for them wiggling out too soon, I feel like the perks Iron Grasp and Agitation already assist with that well enough without adding another perk like this one.
Not trying to shoot you down or anything; just my thoughts on it
. -
It’s up to you. When I play survivor and I don’t know where the hatch is, I literally just hold down shift and sprint all over the entire map to look for it. I have no desire to hide for half an hour and only maybe get it. If I find it and get it, great. If the killer kills me, gg and onto the next game.
I only rarely let the last survivor have the hatch when I play killer. Mostly they find it before I do anyways though, which is fine with me. -
People go on and on about how "toxic" the community is, and while obviously I see examples of what they mean by "toxic" every day, I feel like also people kind of need to relax and take all the alleged "bullying" and "trashtalking" with a grain of salt. If you choose to play the killer, you're the antagonist in the game. You're literally playing the role that in older games was always previously computer-controlled. A lot of people are used to beating games with their friends and feeling triumphant and pleased with themselves when they win.
While obviously they should not make nasty comments and realize that the antagonist in their game is a real person and not an NPC, a bit of teabagging, hook camping (for both killers and survivors), flashlight saves, taunting at the exit gates, etc. should be expected and killers should not take it personally. It is a 4v1 PvP game and unfortunately the 1 is going to get the brunt of the taunting and bullying.
The only thing I think is truly "toxic" or "unsportsmanlike" (as the report feature states) is not playing the game and/or dcing. Other than that, teabagging, camping, taunting a killer into a chase, or saying "git gud!" when the game ends are all actions that are immature and should be frowned upon and discouraged, but allowed and something you should more or less expect to see.
I played killer most of the day today and I got called a tryhard and a camper in my 4k games and got told that I sucked in any game where I got less than 4 kills. And yet the only thing that bothered me about when I played today was when I was playing as a survivor and the killer dc'd after I escaped and was headed towards the exit gates out of her range...

It's easier for newbie killers to kill newbie survivors in general.
Yeah, but I'm pretty bad in general....most of my swings are misses and I easily lose track of people, so to go from playing hag permanently at 20 to instantly rank 15, I think she got a lot better is a better bet than I got a lot better.
Also you'd be surprised at the number of survivors at low rank that are actually really good. You can tell, because they seem like they don't belong with the other survivors. They are usually the one with a flashlight and that move so that I swing and miss and then do the crouch down and butt wiggle thing every time they stun or blind or are evading me :X.

Survivors will often report you for anything they can think of, but only a handful of things are actually against the rules:- Farming with one or more Survivors.
- Hacking/Cheating/Exploiting.
- Post-game chat abuse (death threats, racial slurs, and so on).
- Holding the game hostage.
You cannot be reported for camping, "tunneling", slugging (letting Survivors bleed out), or any other strategy.
My best advice, if you're going to play Killer, is to ignore anything Survivors say, make your profile comments only open to friends, and play however you want.
Thanks, this makes me feel better. I have never done any of the things on that list. I was just so confused as to what could be reportable; it was very obvious that the only reason I was winning so easily was because 2 of 4 people quit right in the beginning. The only thing I could think of was maybe they didn't know that getting hit with shock therapy makes you unable to vault windows or pallets, because both of the 2 remaining tried at some point to vault after getting shocked and couldn't. So I didn't want there to be any kind of record on my account just because people didn't understand mechanics (if that was why they reported me).
Before I started playing, I watched a bunch of guides so I know that camping is generally frowned upon, and that's fine with me because I'm pretty ADHD so after about 3 seconds of standing there, I get bored and try to find more people, but sometimes it's my only option. Like when I haven't gotten a kill all match, the exit gates go up and I have someone hooked so far away from them that there's no way I would reach either exit gate before they opened them and then stood in the entry way taunting me and healing each other while someone else ran behind me to go get the survivor on a hook. So I stand there and guard the one and let the other 3 leave so I at least get some points to level up lol :P.
But yeah, good to know camping is not against the rules (not that I really want to do that while generators are still up since it's not fun that way), since I've been accused of that at times. Each time though, I wasn't really camping that person -- they were just always there and in front of me and not really stealthy so I hit the easiest target.
Edit: I'm starting to think I should just leave immediately after a match is done, too. People have mostly been pretty mean. If I didn't get any kills, they tell me how bad I am and if I did really well, they say I was a camper or a tunneler.
