This should be a thing of the past for the most part once dedicated servers launch. Instead of being connected to individual people, you will be connected to the nearest data center, so your ping should be roughly the same in almost every lobby (barring edge cases).
@Peanits Will that include filters for no-SWF servers? Or servers that have Nurse/Spirit/Hillbilly banned?
-
A 2v8 mode will never happen until the Dedicated Servers go live and even then.. there's a low chance for it.
-
He'll probably not perform as good as you might expect.
-
That's so unnecessary though? Like, why?
-
Missing a few DLCs. Bought 20€s worth of Auric Cells at one point, as it was a gift from a friend. So maybe.. 90-100€ tops?

We are changing the way we handle maps going forward. I can't give any details just yet, but this will be one of the things we talk about during the anniversary stream this Friday.
@Peanits I'd buy an Auric Cell pack to celebrate the news that you're finally making the maps static, so there's no "how much am I getting ######### in the ass by the RNG today" mechanic to each map.
Just saying.
-
Doubt it. He's a licensed killer, afterall.
-
Soon™
-
At least the trailer didn't feature any misleading gameplay like how it was in the Legion one. This one was just one to show off the "mood" of the killer and in what era he's from.
-
You're toxic! You're toxic! And you're toxic! Toxic! Toxic! Toxic!
-
Decisive Strike is finally in a good position. Don't nerf it.
-
I am sure they'll put more skins in the shop for you to buy.

The serious answer is that they were intended to be a limited time thing. Escape Cakes, Survivor Puddings and Bloody Party Streamers were all meant to be part of the anniversary event one year and then be retired afterwards. Due to popular demand, they were left in.
BPS used to be common, actually. But I guess I could tell the team to make them very rare or ultra rare if you'd prefer it. *wink wink*
@Peanits Then its high time that all the various BP offerings get a revamp, don't you think?
Made a thread about it long ago with suggestions for a rework. Might be a bit of shameless advertisement at this point, considering I throw in this link in like whatever BP-related thread I can find.. but whatever. Here;

Here's a thought.
Instead of punishing killers for securing a kill, why not add more reward for going out and hunting?
-
Increasing the time to repair generators by itself isn't the way to go. Something else needs to happen.
-
It'd be waaaaay too powerful.
-
Yay, I guess? I just remember it being "THE DEAD BY DAYLIGHT KILLER" followed by people leaving because its a bully simulator.
-
What Plague needs are more negatives to being fully sick, so that survivors are pushed to cleanse. I mean, the current meta against Plague is like the old Legion meta, don't heal and rush generators.
-
There's too much risk involved in this, that it'll break whatever slim level of balance we have in DbD. I am against it.
-
@Bbbrian2013 Why not just add most of those things to the first game and save the time, money and effort to DEVELOP A WHOLE NEW GAME?
-
Do you really think they could pull off a DbD2 with DbD1 being so massive in terms of content it currently has?
It'd be a downgrade and people would be upset.
-
At the moment, Clown and Doctor.
I used to play a shitload of Spirit before the sound got ######### over.
-
-
I really liked the estimated wait time indicator during the short time it blessed us with its presence.
-
No?
-
Its not the worst I've seen, to be honest.
-
I'd keep it but buff his chainsaw in other ways. Like suggested in this thread, his chainsaw could saw through pallets and let him continue flailing that chainsaw around?

People need to stop parroting this FOMO bullshit. None of you are psychologists. None of you actually know what you are talking about. You got a buzz word from a Youtuber that complains about the game way too much yet does not play survivor AT ALL and even admits himself he does not even play the game that much. As much as I like the dude, he has a propensity to make very whiney videos about stuff he personally just doesn't like.
@thesuicidefox What is FOMO?
And I have no clue what youtuber you're talking about.
I'll never understand why people want to normalize this crap. Its like if they want to be treated like cattle in a barn, getting milked for money.
-
Its the modern form of a subscription based monetization that aim to exploit your fear of missing out on content, pushing you to open your wallet and spend.
-
I am honestly surprised.
I wonder how many will remain after the free weekend though. With the rampant toxicity and disconnecting going on..
Bet Behavior's happy though, considering their plans on forcing upon us a Battle Pass, that there's many more people to scam right in time for their announcement on Friday.

Let me put it this way: against Clown, if survivors want to win, they'll win. Sad, but true, unless they are memeing around or they're complete and utter potatoes, Clown has nothing to stop genrush.
Take it from a former Clown main.
I can vouch for what @George_Soros is saying. There's sadly not much a Clown can do if the survivors want to win.
-
A dodge does nothing but a DC ######### everyone up.
-
Nothing, to be honest.
-
Battle Passes are just the modern version of a subscription-based monetization model that heavily exploits the fear of missing out, which a potent psychological trigger used to get people to spend money.
And once they've spent money, they feel the urge to complete the Battle Pass, otherwise they feel like they've lost money.
This process repeats over and over, and over and over.
-
Legacy will never come back.

@se05239 I love FOMO manipulation.
Especially when devs add exclusive time limited content. It makes the skins feel more valuable.
Hopefully if you don't buy/grind the pass you won't be able to get skins from that season ever again.
Feels good to have cosmetics that will be rare years later because they were in a pass long ago.
@Bbbrian2013 Skins that end up in the battle pass will end up hitting the store sooner or later, so that people who're mad that they missed out get to buy them. Companies want all of the money.
-
Prestiging is just not worth the grind.
You're right about that. Its supposed to make you feel PRIDE AND ACCOMPLISHMENT for getting their bloodied prestige clothing. That's it. And some achievements, of course.
Some people enjoy the grind and having a P3 character with all perks is a goal to them to aim for. I am perfectly fine with prestige being as it is right now.
-
My favorite suggestion I've seen suggested here on the forum is the introduction of generator parts being scattered throughout the level and those can be installed into generators to speed them up. Survivors could of course still repair generators without parts but it'd take noticeable longer.
-
Wow. A maximum of three whole minutes.
Its not like survivors used to take the game hostage for 30+ minutes before EGC became a thing.
######### double standards.

What Is it anyway?
@Horror_Gaming No items, no swf, no add-ons, no perks, vanilla gameplay experiment.

I don't care too much about the killers themselves, its more the playstyles themselves that irritate me. If someone decides to hardcamp and tunnel the living ######### out of anyone they catch, you better believe I'll end up irritated.

By that logic, the creation of goods for sale is mental abuse.
@Orion Goods themselves, maybe not, but whenever when something's on sale? 2 for one bargains? A price that's 9.99 instead of 10? You bet your arse its psychological.
And please don't be stupid with me, Orion. All people got a limit to how much they can resist before they fall victim to these things. That slow withering down of one's mental state, in order to make people open their wallets and spend.. Its sick.
-
If the killer's using Stridor, you gonna start hearing yourself when injured even when you're using Iron Will.

@I_Eat_Worms said:
there will be a button thats says" purchase battle pass", if you cant afford it or don't want it then don't click that button
@I_Eat_Worms Its not about being able to afford or not, its about developers and companies using psychological triggers to make players spend more money.
The fear of missing out on stuff and the feeling of not wanting to leave things unfinished are two things that's part of a battle pass, free or not, and both are there to psychologically force players to participate. Its literally mental abuse.
Stop promoting this madness! Stop normalizing it!
-
Wouldn't it be better if the developers did something to slow down the game by itself? By introducing secondary objectives that rewards survivors. A natural way of slowing the game down, sorta?
-
However, the developers said she's going to get reworked one way or another, so therefore, I suggested this to the developers. Perhaps my version is wayyyy better than their version so if they decide to take my ideas (yes, they have my permission to) then I basically saved her.
I doubt they'd go your way. If anything, her add-ons needs a massive revisit.
No, not in the slightest. You can still use her blinks to great effects, but the only difference is you have a cool-down time on them. Therefore, good Nurses would injure a survivor and then, blink to them to instantly down them. Worst case scenario: 2 blinks would set you back 20 seconds before you could blink again and down them. 20 seconds isn't that bad for a chase in my opinion, compared to other killer's.
Compared to the current Nurse, your rework is a pure downgrade. The Nurse is punished not only for failing her blink but then she suffers from a long period of nothing while being a 110% killer? Exciting.
you didn't even read the add-ons because some of them are extremely good, any feedback on them?
Most of them are pretty boring. I have nothing else to say.

This is a limited way to think of things. Yes, people are kinda responsible for themselves. But that doesn't justify abusing general human behaviour for your own greed. To give an example are TOS themselves. Corporations aren't allowed to write everything into them. There are legal limitations for a good reasons. Mostly because it's known that regular people lack the legal understanding and don't have time to walk to a lawyer each time they have to agree one.
With battlepasses it was said before that these kind of prey from the basic human desire to finish things. Just think about it? How often did you find yourself in a situation where you see a progression bar and have the need to finish it. Even though you sometimes hit a point where you aren't in the mood anymore. So you force yourself and actually have a bad time playing a game?
That definitively happens all the time, even though game devs actually try to prevent it. Mostly because they don't want to associate you with having a bad time. On the other hand if you do it in the right dose and provide people with some feel os success and accomplishment you can negate that effect and you have a system that keeps players engaged in your game and spend more money on it.
And there comes the problem with battle passes. They aren't designed as a simple purchase. They are a grind. Not a gamble, but a grind. You kinda pay for the opportunity to grind for ingame time limited rewards. And with a "free/premium" battle pass things got better, because you can show dedicated players as often as possible, what they "missed" by not going the premium option. And as soon as they go for it, they feel forced to finish it completely. Nobody wants to waste their money. Which also means they stick to the game and will most likely spend money again for you.
Now let's go back to the keyword RESPONSIBLE. Do you really think, that the average person is completely 100% capable to resist basic human behaviour, when they are confronted with systems that are specific designed to manipulate them to spend money they shouldn't spend? I don't think so. Besides I don't see any more value in having a battle pass in the game. It won't make the game better or more exciting. Maybe even more frustrating for those, who can't afford it, because they get constantly reminded, what they "missed".
Currently they release new chapters on a regular base. People can either buy them with money, which supports the game or grind ingame for the characters. The second option on the other hand means, that people are dedicated players, who play often and provide a healthy playerbase. Besides they release new cosmetics each chapter, people can spend their money for.
It's not like this game doesn't have already a steady source of income that provides to keep the game alive. And yes, dedicated servers are coming and adding costs. But those don't require the game an additional predatory system.
@Freudentrauma Have an upvote for a brilliant comment.
The fear of missing out is a powerful psychological trigger to get people to spend more money and here we have people who welcome it with open arms.
