How strong will new killer be?

Judging by the description of his power we got from the leak he doesn't sound like a strong killer at all.

He will obviously be regarded as OP and best counter against him is as always gen rush or... easier and WAAAAY more often used one: DC but what could he be good at.

He sounds like slower wraith tbh.

  • I think he will be very strong at ranks 10-20 but mid-tier at best at high ranks. Clever survivors would always see when he is stalking them, so his power would become very bad. At least Myers has a faster vaulting speed (even at T2) and increased lunge, but ghostface will be only a 115% killer who can sometimes oneshot... and t-bag XD

  • I’m kind of interested how people will use the exposed mechanic since it seems like it only targets one person at a time, if there’s multiples at a gen would you expose one and hit the other too, would this end the exposed on the target, would it be better to pick off the lone survivors first? it also seems like being seen/spotted has an impact on his power. I’m concerned about his strength against a group of 3 at a gen. I think Groxiverde has it right, but we haven’t seen all his perks yet and we haven’t seen if the final version is exactly like the leaks, nor what his addons do (that much)

  • Stronger than if 5 blink nurse and insta saw billy had a baby oBViOuslY.

  • So far he looks weak, but we'll see

  • Unless he gets some changes on the PTB build, he will be tops C tier imo

He the child of Pig and Michael

  • @op Not very strong.

  • He looks like another throw in the mid tier pile, aka non viable. The maps and game design just aren't built for stealth killer viability.

Keep in mind though, he hasn't even been released yet. This is literally completely speculation, so quite meaningless. They could hypothetically change how he works a lot before release.

  • Mid tier killer with power that is no threat to survivor.

@Blueberry Oh god imagine him on The Game, that will be amazing

  • Yeah there's a couple maps it would be strong, but being only viable on a couple maps isn't good.

  • As far as I know from the leaks, he is a sneaky m1 killer with an instadown option.

I would place him around Myers level.

Without any known means to traverse the map fast or get a clear edge during chases he will be an ambush killer or simply m1.

  • These days, you can give up BVHR on making viable killers. They're mostly just artwork after artwork for both sides. The only thing you can hope for is that their new killer/survivor has decent perks that are worth using on both sides. One thing I hope they end up adding is a perk that punishes a survivor for using Obsession perk. Like for example, If you are obsession, you get exposed status effect for the entire game or something, Then maybe survivors will think twice when using perks such as Decisive strike Or Meddle of man if they had some actual risk attached to them.

Well we need the obsession to be risky at base, not ANOTHER perk to band aid fix their base game problems.

I agree though, they just don't make viable killers. Spirit was their one fluke.

  • First impressions based off his leaks tells me that Ghost isn't going to be anymore than mid tier. Workable in low to maybe mid ranks and can be fun to play, but found lacking when playing against any proper team of Survivor be they solo or SWF.

Ghost is a stealth Killer, with the full 32m terror radius. That instantly puts him at a real disadvantage as you can't get close to stalk someone without them knowing you are there. The Ghost does have a secondary power that removes his terror radius, until seen by a Survivor, but that as well gives any/everyone a VERY clear warning. Ghost is a stealth Killer that tells people he is there. Kinda defeats the main point of being stealth.

The main power to stalk any one person to expose them sounds good on paper but in what Iv seen it isn't going to help that much. You can't stalk someone in stealth as you warn everyone you are there and you can't stalk someone mid chase as it slows you to a crawl. Plus the exposed status only lasts so long. If someone gets ANY kind of lead on you, then odds are you wont be able to make use of their exposed status and just be looped like normal.

It all reads like another M1 Killer who isn't going to see much play after his "new car scent" wares off.

There is another part to this though. The devs have said multiple times that they plan on reworking maps again and will detail the changes on Friday. That can possibly changed EVERYTHING! If they somehow (not going to happen) make looping not as rewarding then the entire game changes. "Mid tier" Killers that have useful powers and those that just depend on M1 could be finally be viable.

But without those map details, playing the Ghost myself, or at least seeing enough gameplay videos of him Im just talking out my ass.

  • He looks like another Enduring-Spirit Fury killer.

They can't make him strong or survivors will cry "Pay to win."

  • He'll probably not perform as good as you might expect.

  • I think he'll do just fine, around where Myers is if he works how I'm envisioning. He has a better stealth factor than Myers who still ends up getting stalks despite high-rank Survivors generally noticing when being watched.

"... make looping not as rewarding..."

Killers have perks to see survivors when hooking another one, when a survivor go out from a closet, when survivors are close when they hit someone, when survs are close when a survivor is put in dying state, when survs are healing, when 2 or more survs are in the same gen, when survs are doing gens, when crows are near survs, when gens are done, when survs are cleansing totems, when survs are near you.

We can't do anything else but loop.

  • From leaked vids he looks weak.

He need to stalk to fill up Ghost stealth gauge, to stalk in Ghost stealth mode to make surv exposed, and Ghost Stealth is really short, so you hardly can sneak from far to expose ppl, plus he has whistle sound when he enters ghost stealth which is very loud.

He has TR while stalking not in Ghost Stealth, so he cant stalk like Mayers, right behind your back. You will always hear his TR when he's nearby and you will actively look around and LoS him.

Anyway, it is only guesses, we'll see on release.

I'm much more concern about Freddy beeing gutted as Legion and Pig were.

  • Another killer we can creep around slowly with while gens pop left and right.

We can't do anything else but loop.

To use BBQ, you have to first hook someone. And that first hook can take some time and often cost 1-3 gens by itself. Then once you do get that aura reading it is way off in the distance. Taking more time to simply reach them and that's if they don't bother to move from that spot. There is also other counters as well in hiding behind a gen to block your aura, running your own perk/s to prevent aura reading, or just waiting for the Killer to come so you can just loop him anyway far from the hooked so someone else can save.

How often have you seen people even USE lockers? Outside of low ranks it almost doesn't exist. By far most people will simply run off to gain ground or to make it to a loop in order to waste as much time as possible instead of risking stealth.

A perk that reveals someone else when hitting another doesn't exist. There is a perk that makes people scream when you DOWN someone else, but not on hit. Besides, Calm Spirit is a thing that prevents you from screaming when getting hit yourself or when effected by something that would make you scream like the Doctor or some perk.

Nurse's only works if you are well within the terror radius. Don't heal when you hear the heartbeat, easy as that. Maybe you should instead be avoiding the Killer as much as possible and use that terror radius to keep distance rather than risk letting him get close when you are wounded.

When 2 Survivors are working on a gen, Discordance shows the gen as yellow. Doesn't show the Survivors, just that gen and its effect stays up to 12 seconds AFTER they stop working that gen! One person work the gen and another tap it. You just instantly baited the Killer to that location away from somewhere else.

Are you really complaining about Spies from the Shadows? That perk has been nerfed to the freaking ground. Shortened range, added a 5 second cooldown, and there are so few crows on the map that Spies simply isn't going to tell you anything. Might get 1-2 useful pings per game if that and that's on people you are likely already chasing.

Bitter Murmur isn't really worth running. Rancor is much better. But both of them don't really help as the information can rarely be used. Odds are you are stuck being looped when gens are finished and those gens are going to be a distance away. Worthless and you'd just give up a chase being looped in one spot in order to maybe be looped somewhere else if you happen to find someone. The only reason Rancor is better is because it gives a free mori on your obsession after all gens are done.

I honestly don't recall any perk that tells you when a totem is being cleansed. Thrill of the Hunt tells you when someone is cleansing a Hex totem, but not dulls. Even then you have to use half of your perks to run a Hex build. Something most Killers can never hope to protect and end up being without perks before the game ends. So there is nothing preventing you from cleansing all the dull totems you want to prevent NOED. You can even use TotH to bait the Killer by spam tapping a Hex totem to annoy the ######### out of him. That alone makes TotH worthless as someone can just spam click a Hex to make the Killer deaf and clutter his screen with pings.

Whispers has a 32m radius. That's rather large and often as worthless as being told there are still Survivors on the map itself with up to 4 people coming in and out of that 32m. Whispers becomes powerful once you start killing off people as the less people there is the less muddy that information becomes. But you have to manage to kill people first. And if the first hook of the game can cost you 1-3 gens, odds are the game isn't going to last long enough for you to kill enough people to use Whispers. All thanks looping eating what little time a Killer has.

Survivors have plenty of options in perks to run or starts to use against anything in the game. But as most of them are situational most Survivors fall back on meta builds and looping as it is too damn good and rewarding. Why avoid the Killer and risk being out of position when you can just loop? Why bother learning anything but looping when looping is THAT good?

  • He looks like my cup of tea.

And with my love of low-tier characters in ANY game, he might not be too viable. But I won't care haha

  • unfortunately another mid-tier + enduring - spirit's fury kinda killer. We never know i'll be waiting for the release but i think everyone is right.
