I love the killer gameplay in this game for the very simple reason that you always win. If the survivors are weak, you hook and sacrifice them - win, however if they are exceptionally good, like the example below, you have a few good chases, hopefully hook them a few times and they escape - you still win (at least I like the chase experience myself)

Enter our antagonists, four friends, all playing Claudette, with a fully decked out build, all with flashlights at start

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QEVBS13A4MXJ/dbd-shame-1.png

When I saw the all Claudette team, all of them with flashlights at the start, I knew this is going to be a fast match, however what I never anticipated is the match taking a little over an hour.

After a roughly 15 minute whack-a-mole around a single building, where I was chasing around 3 of them with little success, I decided to start recording.. Did not want to stream directly, so I can protect their identity, so the video you see below is my playing back onto twitch the recording I made :) no, I am not a pro streamer and I do not have any video editing software, so I decided this is the easiest.

Here is roughly what you are going to see:

    • them finishing their first generator while I have already spent about 15 minutes playing whack-a-mole with 3 of them.
    • the fourth person joining the "fun" and about ~15 more minutes of my trying to catch them.
    • a few minutes of me trying to be creative, by faking a disconnect and eventually me fleeing to my cellar.
    • at this point, I literally gave up and just wanted them to finish the gens so I can move on.. didn't happen, they came after me.
    • We spend the next 10-15 minutes in my cellar, me trying to ignore them, while they were taunting me
    • Eventually some trickery ensues and I manage to get some hooks and even sac one of them
    • once they are down to 3, they do some more gens, but still not in a hurry to go anywhere
    • I make it out of my cellar, giving up waiting, figuring that with only 3 of them left, I now have a better chance of chasing them down and saccing them and eventually I get there, but all in all it takes a little more than an hour for what should have been a 8-10 minute survivor victory

    Warning:

    • the following video might contain erratic killer gameplay, seal clubbing and extreme levels of toxicity. You can learn a lot about how to evade killers, but please.. do not - I repeat - DO NOT learn their style of how to act towards killers. That is highly toxic and an example of behavior that is or at least should be bannable.

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/772392591

I strongly believe that this sort of behavior is inexcusable and should never be tolerated. Especially not, when the other party can be held hostage.. I had the choice of waiting them out, trying to drive them away, or disconnecting, getting my penalty for doing so.

A report will be sent to the devs with names included, so they can take appropriate action.

Akaa if there gonna play scummy like they was to you don't play far either if you face a squad like them and get them in a basement hook facecamp them each time but leave enough space they try to rescue

Hey er even if you don't play him it's worth leveling up Billy or checking the shrine to get lightborn unlocked for all killer's so when you face a squad like that you can not be blinded by them and as a bubba and with a basement slug put them in the basement and stand at the stairs with your saw ready so when they run out you smack them with it sure one might get away but you get 2 maby 3 slugs and hooks out of it and you can guard them at the same time

  • You know the berus combos with the venomous concoction right now that's a big 2 min f u to them and most often of hit I've had people run at a hook so they can get there DH back lol or in one case went up against a player running the Meta perks of DH DS ADR with SC and I just 1 shot them lol besides a meg that entire round was 1 hooks. (Iridescent head huntress that game)

First hear a gen see no one but see scratch marks at locker grab the meg basement right after I basment hooked and leaving shack there unhooked slug the meg on a window hop chase away Claudette rehook meg Claudette tried to insta save deliberately missed the throw to scare them off they try to corner loop me so I can't hot them with hatchet meg suicide's on hook Claudette then runs in a straight line easy kill basment refill hatchet's catch a Quinton (Mr meta build) down him Claudette suicides as I hook him chase down Kate and let her go to refill hatchet's again Quinton suicide's and Kate gets 1 hit next to shack trying the save and I see his perks and I'm like man must feel rough running meta perks and not even getting to use any of them not even self care because you was a 1 hook

Thank you for being considerate even in a competitive game. It means the world to me when I'm doing poorly as killer and have a player stare at me as they get taken by the EGC, or when killers who, even when they lose, still say 'gg' or something nice like that. We don't always have to play fair, and I think everyone falls into that mentality of 'well they can't win if we abuse this,' but whatever, it's a game lol. It's just super cool to meet players that respect each other even when things aren't going well for them. Sorry if this post is dumb, I just wanted to get this off my chest haha :)!

I'd probably fall into this and not into it depending on my mood at times but would the fact I told a guy how's it feel to run 3, meta perks and not even get to use them be poor or me just finding funny a DH DS AD player got negated by a 1 hit and dies on 1 hook because everyone rushed the basement besides 2 the entire game.

To clarify I found a noob meg who locker hid but they ran into it basement hook she's saved in close by window slug I basement again she commits hook suicide a Claudette is trying to corner juke my hatchet (you know the stat close to they don't hit thing then she decides to run in a straight line basement refill hooks down a Quinton as the Claudette suicides basement hook him last person runs to basement Quinton suicide's now the Kate was a good juker then she just decided to run in a straight line basement again.

So in anyway is it bad sportsman ship I found it hilarious that the Quinton who was running meta perks couldn't even use one because they played dumb?)

  • Honestly I don't care which maps get a overhaul but what would be nice is what they did with Freddy's map to the single stand alone ones so we have more maps more variety and could you imagine playing the game but in a different area from the film's like we get a bit of saw 1 and 3 with the current one but imagine running though a apartment complex into he packing plant or hell what if there was map offerings which adds more to the map like I said above more map variations and then tweak the offerings so the more used to more it adds to that map now that would be a cool overhaul and can change the gens and stuff

  • @TAG said:

Maybe? I dunno. The only red offering Killers have atm is Ebony Mori, which is super OP. I wouldn't want a red Survivor offering to be on that level.

Hence a offering which removes the one hook rule and makes it 2 hooks everyone and 1 hook everyone for use with the Cyprus counter designed to give you a chance to escape.

I mean that way you can't just camp someone out first hook because you have to hook everyone for it.

Or if you try to facecamp for it like the cage's your moved so they can't just camp you out

  • @TAG said:

The Red one would be the only one almost worth running, and even then, not really. The only real solution to the problem IMO is to nerf the Mori offerings.

Ok makes a bit of sense but if you had to one hook all 4 to use a Ivory that would counter and a 2second endurance can help save some near a gate if a cypress is used

Some people are complaining about the current state of the game, but there is silent people who enjoy the game currently.

There are bugs, but i know games which have more. I think its ok but not perfect. I mostly complain about hit validation but its not every games.

I know camping and tunneling are enoying but if im being facecamped because i looped the killer for 3 gens, i know i did good and im happy to sacrifice myself for my team.

I mean, the game is not perfect, but still fun and im optimistic for the future.

I know that feeling once looped a pig for 4 gens the second she got me she just stood there to make sure I'm not saved and I'm like yup I'd do the same thing

  • @The_Krapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/198102/idea-to-counter-mori

The only real way to counter a Mori at the moment is to hop in a locker and let someone flashlight save you when they grab you out

Hence idea for a counter offering making them harder to trigger to use or in the Cyprus case allowing a chance to escape the others just mean if you wanna use them you have to put the effort in

  • How about being a survivor that tebags and sandbags TTV survivor's lol

Between all killers running infectious fright and BBQ calm spirit is a necessity. Also with killers such as the doctor and blight you need it to keep quiet from screaming. What other perks do you guys run out of curiosity?

Finally someone who has a Brian lol so far the only screaming perk or add-on that's not affected by calm is MYC

But I remember the first time played against a doc and he lost me so many times in a chase or my fave running Tec calm and im doing a gen right next to the killer trying to find me I'm getting shocked though the shack walls but he can't find me do the gen and he still don't find me till endgame

I always play Survivor, just more like a side-dish, i prefer my Wraith over anything and prefer Killer gameplay in general.

Still, i never really dislike playing Survivor, and i prefer it over some Killer Powers.

Recently i put up questions here, like if Repressed Alliance is any good, and Perk build suggestions for being purely altruistic.

So, taking a lot of advice in mind, i tried some stuff and also did my own thing inbetween.

And after a week of doing so now, i can very confidently say for myself...

Survivor gameplay is incredibly boring, or at least in longer play sessions

I don't think i'll ever be doing another week of just Survivor again.

Idk how Survivor-only players hold out.

I out-loop a Killer, making them give up at some point? Nah, don't feel any satisfaction during the chase nor when i lose them.

I manage to stealth all the way through? Kinda cool to pull off, but not engaging.

I repair all trial? I don't mind...for a few matches, but not for a week long.

I'm overly altruistic? I don't feel special at all, i'm just like everyone else. (Also, Altruism is just a different form of repairing: Healing progress bars instead of repairing progress bars.)

I escape? CAN be engaging, i felt excitement when this Huntress WITH HATCHETS was chasing me out of the Exit Gates, dodging 2 of 'em. Most of the time though, if i make it to the Exit Gate, i escape without the Killer in sight.

I die? shrugs 'Kay, never was one to care if i die as Survivor, whether it's a camper or the nicest Killer around.

Items? Barely change how you play, only sabotage-Toolboxes & Keys really do that, but sabotage just ain't my thing, and Keys just make the game shorter.

Add-ons? Don't really wanna get into this, it'd be a long list, but here's the short version: Don't really do anything engaging.

Offerings? Well okay, they weren't really designed to make you be more engaged during the trial, so they get a pass.

Perks? Same as Add-ons honestly, it'd be a long list, but there's barely anything here that's really neat.

I actually liked using Any Means Necessary, For The People, Head On, Red Herring & Repressed Alliance, with Deliverance as a honorable mention.

I know someone would mention Diversion: No! It's a lot of work, and all you can do is make a distant, loud noise.

I especially liked Red Herring, that one's way more fun than i thought it would be.

But other than these, there's nothing really new, y'know?

Aura Perks, healing Perks, sprint Perks, Generator Perks, it's like all Perks will be categorized, and every blue moon there's a cool new ability in a Perk.

And yes, this wasn't the long version of me talking about Perks.

I'm not saying this is problem #1, i would love to see performance be amazing on all platforms at all times. (As long as you hit the system requirements on PC.)

    It's also not problem #2, #3, #4...

But once the problems with higher priorities are gone, what i would love next...

    👏More👏things👏to👏do👏as👏survivor!!!👏

    • More primary objectives, preferably ones that don't make you sit still
    • More secondary objectives that don't reward you with just more BP (Dull Totems (Hex Totems are a good-enough interaction for Survivors currently) or with an Item (Chests).
    • WAY more Perks in the future that alter gameplay, like idk, have one that teleports you to a different Hook (that's further than 32 meters away from this Hook) once you get hooked, and the Killer can't see the Aura of the new hook you're placed on.
    • More Items, like one that, if you hold the button to use the Item, makes Scratchmarks not spawn while you run, but using it takes up charges of course. (A.k.a. a gameplay-changing Item.)

As things are now, i don't think i'll do a Survivor-only week again.

I still do like me some Survivor, but with a lot of moderation!

    Whew, that's a story!

Congrats for making it this far.

Although, if you skipped to here for a TL;DR, you'll be disappointed.

    Your opinion on Survivor gameplay?

I'm MORE than certain someone will feel the exact opposite of me.

Same here though I will say new mechanics or things what about say if you put in the no scratch marks item (btw I hat sounds really interesting) what about a mechanic or add-on for killers where if a gen is near completion they can break it and scatter parts about nearby like not to much say nocks off one of the leaver bits where you have to collect them or a unbroken part to finish fixing it

  • It's so much fun playing him on a indoor map especially if you combo soul chemical and Virgo's journal you can see as your running and round a corner silently in there face

I'm a killer main on PS4, and since hitting green ranks, I'm finding more and more matches are very skilled, well coordinated survivor friends. I've got years of time in the game, but I just can't get out of green rank 9, and constantly de-pip back to 11. I always try to play fair, don't camp/tunnel, and the only meta perk I use is BBQ, for the bloodpoint stacks. I don't like HEX perks because they get broken in minutes, and I prefer perks that help overall around the map, like Enduring, Brutal Strength and Lightborn. I don't even care about getting 4Ks, but recently I've had to sweat so hard just to get 1K, against these teams. It's just frustrating, and I even more so because I love the game. I just feel like I've hit a brick wall with the game, and unfortunately find myself disconnecting more or going AFK out of sheer frustration.

I play PS4 killer and I know how you feel but I don't let it get to me heck I've had people call me a bad player for stacking it in my favour with perks and add-ons but that's because I played smart or looking for someone I slugged near a hook suddenly means I'm a camper or a person gets at me for taking them out or asking how old I am simply because I find the fact they rage quit after stepping into my bear trap and getting grabbed by me funny

Maybe soul guard is getting bugged in some matches? That would seem more likely than a hacker because I can tell you with 9000 hours in this game on pc if someone is taking the risk to hack and get banned they're gonna be doing alot more than just infinite soul guard in the match and there's not gonna be any doubt if it was a hacker or not

Thats why I out it in bugs first asking this a bug or hacker?

when they unhok in front of you or very close is not tunneling, is farming from survivors wich of course must get punished especially if u can ignore bt like freedy or ghostface even pig.

This is a thread for you to share more pleasant moments from DbD, to remind us all that toxicity isn't all that there is. I'll start.

I'm not sure who the killer was playing, but long story short, I was destroyed by them early on. I think the last survivor got the hatch.

I checked out their profile, as I usually do when I'm killed off early to pass the time, and saw that they had played "Ori and the Will of the Wisps", the sequel to "Ori and the Blind Forest". These are games I've been curious about, but never really tried before because of all the promotion surrounding it (the more something is promoted, the less I want it and the more I suspect it's utter crap).

We ended up having a nice conversation about the games. I asked them what they thought of it, to which they gave the games complete praise. I explained that I wasn't too much into platformers, but they assured me that wasn't an issue because the game was simply incredible and I'd barely notice it.

I haven't bought either of them because I'm saving up for a new everything (GPU, CPU, RAM, motherboard) and still want Cyberpunk 2077, but I'll probably be checking out the first game when it's on sale. Worst case-scenario, my BF will love it.

    What are your wholesome moments?

Trying my hardest for 3 months to get the silent hill school trophy the do this or that gen and escape one I managed to get the gens without being hooked once whole game against a Oni who just killed last person as I'm on the door and he had his power ready to go and they just let me run and take the hatch when they could have got me which was kind of them.

Another time was trying to get the all 4 out the hatch trophy and some guys was helping and I was on last hook and it was a legion with noed he's chasing me sees me run up to the rest all on the hatch and they just walk away they had me dead to rights but they let me go and the rest I love when a killer realizes a person's trophy hunting and lets them get it

That's how it works, you can't get up when not under a hex but anytime you get picked up you have the endurance effect while running soul guard

I'm on about a legit game no hex perks they was slugged basement and I chased 3 wounded they get up I think maby they got stabbed with a heal syringe but end game they run at me I slug hook a Claudette they get back up and save the Claudette both escape I go from 3k to 1k and lo and behold they did not have unbreakable and no one in the match had a syringe heal add on

The problem with it is that it makes strong killers who have great mobility and map pressure even stronger, whilst not giving as much benefits to slower killers. Have you played against a nurse or blight with this build? It's literally unstoppable unless ur in a stacked swf or the killer is bad. I know gens can sometimes be fast especially in swfs but u gotta remember if they balanced gen speeds at base for good swfs, can you imagine the effects it would have on solo p[layers, casual swfs and killers with already good slowdown perks?

Ehehm I played a nurse using this and got 4 outta 5 gens done with one other guy at that point it was a who's gonna make it area as she had a 3 gen strat

Ummm... whut? There are only 5 totems. If a player is hexed, soul guard can be used infinite times. (Obviously unlikely being slugged more times than there are totems but still...)

Soul guard synergizing with Unbreakable is gross in my opinion. It's way overkill with what survivors already have.

And hackers can abuse it so whenever they get up and not under a hex effect they trigger it's protection

  • @Godot said:

Can we all stop trying to nerf every single good survivor perk just for being good?

This perk is also abused by hackers so they can infinitely stand up and be un hittable which they can combo with stuff like DS on there teammate's I know because I've ran into hackers using this and triggering it with no hex in play

Also not all players finish the loading screen and enter the intro sequence at the same time. I have seen old videos where people litterally start the game on the hook, because the game started without them. And sometimes when someone disconnects during the loading screen, the game stars without them, and a minute later the game gets cancelled.

I had that happen to me and the game took my commodious because of it

  • Oh I get it a bit mostly wraith's or bubba's sometimes I understand it when I've looped them so much once the got me there like nah your not wasting my time again.

    Others just are being dicks

  • It can be hard and takes years of practice to get it but if we can dodge ling range maby they can do stuff to one shots at point blank like if a bubba or Billy pins you in a corner or no escape area there saws pass though you same for baltent facecamps they can't grab or hit after a certain time

*I'm re-making this post due to my point being unclear as such. *

Ive played against many tunnelers, as I'm sure most of you have aswell, and alot of them seem to think it's some sort of 'Skill'. I've even had people message me saying 'It's called being skilled' and many similar messages.

Now Im not saying you shouldn't tunnel, because I cant control you can I? But I don't know which part of hitting the same person over and over again has skill.

Skill is something you are good at and it can be learned from other people. However it's not unique to be able to hit the same person again...everyone can do it...It isn't some sort of mastery.

I believe tunneling should only occur when your doing really poor, such as no kills/Gen rushed/Toxic swf players. Ive played killer, and I know how annoying it is to do really bad and not get a single kill, all killers want at least ONE kill.

The fact I've seen red ranks use this and claim 'Your the closest person', no s**t sherlock I just got off the hook near you, I'm not going to be across the map am I?

At the end of the day, I'm not saying DON'T TUNNEL YOUR RUDE YOUR UNFAIR. I'm saying, don't brag and think your really good because you tunneled a 4k.

You may get tonnes of points which is true, but don't call yourself a skilled killer, spare me the bs *yawns*

I've tunnled at times but only on obsessions if I'm running dying light or remember me or have a hook obsession challenge I will only go for them so I get them out and lock the hats more or 2 hook the others then tunnle out the obsession with a challenge I throw on ghost faces unhook your obsession perk and Oni do anything mean to killer your obsession perk

Wow, that’s exceptionally unfortunate for Rin. She’d be laying there on the floor of the house of her dead mother and deranged father, in pieces, covered in glass an drained of blood😔

That depends was she taken dying or mid attack a copy of her soul was made hurt but not as bad as her body ended up she could be returned and a new family could be in there that gets her medical attention

What are some of your memories from when you first started playing the game?

I remember learning with a friend and I had to tell her to use the wraith instead of the huntress to train me because the humming creeped me out.

Mine was mastering the bunny mama and getting David's adept after I got Jake's when I was a noob got mega lucky with it I crawled away a bit get up and find hatch as the hag killed the rest of my team who all body blocked her for me to escape

  • I've played both as survivor and killer against pc player's can be fun a little annoying when the pc gets a frame hit early-ish but it's also fun to play them and I've escaped a few of killer games or looped them for 3 gens before your just getting the people that play alot on console not skilled or good players

So.. you magically just can't grab the people who tbag at the hatch, so they can be toxic before the killer can get close enough to close it?

Depends on who finds it first and the egc timer and the killer I mean a stealth killer and get on and close it by being smart a few range killers can slug them when they get cocky and run around it feeling safe or like your killer profile picture you can grab them and yank them off the hatch

Total endgame, he had the door open and he had a key too but he just waited by the door for me to die. RIP. I did have fun with the build though!

So in other words instead of risking noed or knowing where the hatch was (I saw the offering lol) he decided to be a jerk what system play on? If PS4 wanna try a few games together could use a helping hand with the escape though gate after doing last gen alone trophy

  • Still at least making it to second dead is a bit of a achievement with the build did you manage to get use out of the unbreakable tenacity and no mither combo and get up a few times

  • Yup chainsaw a who's Freddy's survivor well him and as I'm carrying him to a hook a wounded Laurie runs at me I slug near hook spend entire hook time hunting her down and got called a camper for it

  • The anti slug/come hook me/meme perk combo if your bold enough no mither unbreakable tenacity and for the people since it's non useable it's a meme build one

When killer proceed to chase survivors instead of popping gens, he's already made a choice with risks. He is betting that he can down that particular survivors within the time limit. For me this is already balanced risk reward.

But with this nerf, there is no choice. You either use your pop, and give survivors distance, or you commit to chase and waste your pop. Either way, you are losing something.

Cough cough hooks by gens cough cough

Really? That kinda sucks. He's actually pretty good, but I suppose that's just opinion.

Oh I get he's good I'm just not using him RN as I'm like 5months behind on dbd and still doing tome 1 and I'm just using who I know how to use for them

You are precisely the kind of player that breeds the hate and toxicity in this community.

Did you get the fact I only played so scummy and campy legit for a challenge and nothing else

Like a whole day of playing because it took me forever to get the hang of him.

Neat though tip for him try using the placebo tablet makes hitting easier and more points and throws loopers off guard

  • Guys both sides DC so stop using this as a excuse to flame of this sides worse or this sides better then both sides as all its doing is making crossplay DC rates seem like a dick measuring contest on who's seen more of the other side DC just like how people say pc or console players are op in there own regards stop trying to have crossplay taken out by posting ######### like this

  • Not once seen that vial show up how many games it take you as blight to get it me 4 games
