Also this perk entirely kills any stealth (and perks that were about being stealthy) aspect of the game, back in the day you could hide near generator and it was fun as you tried to not be spotted by the killer.
But now it's meta, so killer just kick the gen, apply Pop ofc and you are instantly revealed, because why not.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3869690#Comment_3869690
Nowhere to hide doesn’t make chase easier or make the game easier
Sure, this perk makes game actually HARDER for the killer.
And killers bring this perk so much because - of course - they love to waste perk slots and love their games to be harder <3
Well… I mean, almost no killer perk actually makes the game harder for them. Some do almost nothing. I love to run stbfl and shattered hope together (stbfl because I cant live without that perk and shattered hope to get its pickrate above 0)

I have also over 4k hours and this was my experience. There will always be outlier-games, but given that you play against experienced survivors, they will punish you for not tunneling. Managing 4 survivors is impossible in late game (1-2 gens left), that's why every comp killer plays exactly like that. Sure, if your game goes well and you get 3-4 hooks before they even finish a single gen, i would also start playing chill, but nowadays this barely happens to me. There was a time where this was possible more often, but lately the game has shifted a little bit more towards survivors again (with perks like Deja Vu becoming meta).
They need to implement incentives to go for all survivors (not just band-aid perks like Grim Embrace that aren't even among the best to begin with) and punish tunneling more, then balance the game again - i would love that, because i hate tunneling, but it is unfortunately the best way to win.Again, you generalize. Many factors go into how a game is going. What killer is played, what map is chosen ans the loadout of both killer and survivor in terms of perks is important to consider.
I perosnally main Pig. Luckily enough, she is one of, if not the only killer that actually gets rewarded for not tunneling survivors asap. Winning against 3-4 survivors at one gen remaining is also very much possible depending on not just the things I mentioned before, but also how many resources are still available at that point.
If you hate the way you play and you dont enjoy it, then here is some advice: Find your own fun. I stopped trying to win by force about a year ago and it did wonders to my performance. I play a lot more focused and concentraded, resulting in me winning a majority of my matches. Enjoying what your doing goes a long way. Again, this is just advice. You do what you think is best for you.

3v1 is the only way you can even win this game as killer against a good team (if you're not playing the top3 killers Nurse, Blight and maybe Billy), if you let anyone survive until 1-2 gens left then you basically lost. The problem is that not tunneling gets punished very often once you're in the upper MMR regions.
If i play survivor and i see the killer 1-hooking the first 3 survivors, i already know we won, there is just absolutely no pressure in this situation.A 3v1 isn't lost if it is not happening as early as 5-4 gens left.
I would not generalize that. Many people fall into that mindset and think its fact for every game. Its not. I learned that over the 4k hours I played.
-
Just dont interact with the streamer. Im not doing it. I dont like this particular streamer and therefore dont watch his content. I have my reasons for this.
Many streamers, however, wherther we like them or nor have a big platform with many viewers. Usually their mindset is shared by their viewers, leading to them spreading their opinions. Therefore, nobody can truly "not watch" a specific streamer. Their influence is omnipresent through the people that do watch them and spread their opinions, as seen in this very thread.

Let me know when survivors can stop the killer from playing the game for four minutes straight, and I'll send you some flowers and a sympathy card.
Basicly this, yes. Slugging removes player agency. Getting gen-rushed does not.
On top of this, why do we have to continue a cycle? "They do this, therefore I do this because they dont care either"
We can be better. It might me hard, but if we continue with this egotistical mindset, this playerbase will continue to lose even more empathy than it already has. -

He's been doing experiments lately with different things, and generally people are starting to realize that with all of the perks and basekit things survivors have, survivors have far more options to counter hooking than they do slugging and the counters are just less effective.
Take a look at all the perks that survivors have that interact with hooking or unhooking:
- Babysitter
- Background Player
- Boil Over
- Borrowed time
- Breakdown
- Breakout
- Camaraderie
- Dead Hard
- Decisive Strike
- Deliverance
- Kindred
- Off the Record
- Power Struggle
- Reassurance
- Resurgence
- Saboteur
- Second Wind
- Shoulder the Burden
- Slippery Meat
- We'll Make it
- Wicked
Not to mention all the perks around blinding the killer like champion of light, or flashbang or residual manifest, as well as the basekit BT, the anti facecamp mechanic and pallet saves and toolboxes.
When you look at those perks too, you'll see that:
- Deliverance
- Dead Hard
- Off the Record
- Decisive Strike
- Flashbang + Background player
These are some of the best perks in the game for survivors. There's a reason comp limits them to only 1 per team and why you'll often see SWFs stacking 3-4 of these perks each.
Now what about slugging? Well you have:
- Unbreakable
- We're gonna live forever
- Soul Guard
- No Mither
- Flip -Flop
- Boon: Exponential
Far less perks, and if you look at them, far less effective as well.
- Compare DS to Unbreakable. DS stuns you for 5 seconds, letting them get to safety. Unbreakable you just down them again
- WGLF was already nerfed recently, and by the time someone finds you (thanks to knockout), you probably already healed up most of your bar anyway
- Soul guard is pretty meh as a perk and pretty rare in general, but it is pretty good.
- No mither is a horrible perk, and if people run it you just hook that guy and slug the rest
- Flip-Flop is really only good with power struggle and if you don't pick them up nothing to worry about.
- The boon can be cleansed.
So all in all:
- The best perks in the game for survivors are around being hooked/unhooking
- Survivors have so many Basekit things now around hooks its pretty insane
- It takes 20 seconds to pick up a survivor, walk to a hook then hook them, time you could spend elsewhere
- It takes 210 seconds to die on hook and 240 to die on the ground, not much of a difference when you are saving 20 seconds per down.
- BHVR keeps nerfing the good gen defense perks like pop/pain res which relate to hooks
- Most of the anti-slug perks have counters if you play around them
- You don't have to worry about pallet saves
- You don't have to worry about flashlight saves
- You don't have to worry about flashbangs (which are bugged btw)
- You don't have to worry about sabotage and toolboxes
- You don't have to worry about counting hooks in a world with shoulder the burden (much easier to keep track of the length of their bar)
- You can camp the slug if they are about to die and not worry about Anti facecamp measures
- You get a more chill experience as killer because you just chase survivors and down them and move on.
The only downside really is you lose out on hooking perks yourself, but that is mitigated by things like surge which work without hooking, and also you are getting 20 more seconds back every chase, which lets you apply more pressure faster, so it balances out a bit more.
The better question to have is not "why are people slugging more" the question should be "why AREN'T people slugging more".
Try watching a recent game where tru3 plays his normal stuff, counts hooks, deals with shoulder the burden etc. Now watch one of him slugging and watch how much more chill he can be and how much easier it is for him to do stuff.
Why aren't people slugging more?
Simple answer. They want to play against people not bots.
-
@Devil_hit11 said:
hooking has become so unrewarding especially in regards to 70 second hook timers, decisive strike, shoulder of burden that killer have accepted slugging as superior way to win.
Please don't generalize.
As a killer player myself, I despise the way he plays. Why? Simple. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Nobody wants to get excessively slugged.

Old Freddy could force survivors asleep which is not lore accurate. You would have to remove that ability as well and you would have a killer who couldn't interact with the game at all for 60 seconds and as long as survivors keep themselves awake you couldn't do anything at all.
If we go entirely lore accurate, then the game would end after those 60sec.

The problem is if we went with a perfectly Lore accurate power, Freddy couldn't do anything until after Survivors fell asleep which he would have no ability to influence since he can't affect people who are awake. Which wouldn't be fun to play as.
It's fine that Freddy can interact with awake survivors in the trial even if not Lore accurate.
Isnt that literally how old Freddy worked?

They should just make it like Among Us, where survivors respawn as ghosts when they die and can continue to contribute to the objective to help their teammates (but not interact with their teammates or the killer).
This would immediately render tunneling useless and solve the problem of people going next in one fell swoop.
Wouldnt this result in a massive loss for the killer because they cant really slow the game down at all? Only a 4k would end the game for killer.

I've been following DBD on their Twitter page for 4 years now, started in 2021. I joined their Reddit page in 2020 so that's 5 years. Survivors giving has been there since day 1, it's been excarberated by the implementation of a SBMM system based on kills and escapes. "The devs have been doing a lot better over the last few years if you look at the broader picture. Compare it to the first 4 years and you WILL know what I mean. Tiles, maps and the gap between swf and soloq has already been adressed multiple times. They know its an issue and are looking into it. You have to understand, that these are difficult problems to fix without any clear solutions. Therefore it takes time." I would certainly hope so as a consumer that the product i bought 2 year after the initial release has had improvements especially if it's 9 years old. What does the 6.1.0 update got to do with the "give up" epidemic?
If you followed dbd on multiple forms of social media, you should know.
6.1.0 introduced the Gen kick meta, which alone was a reason for people to give up already. On top of that, it nerfed a lot of the perks that people grew accustom to over 4+years. Community favorites like dh and ds where first deemed unusable, which resulted in many players loosing faith in the game. Was this mentality justified?
I my opinion, no. Doesn't change what happened though.
As you acknowledged, dbd has gotten better over time it just takes well, time. Best to do is to provide constructive criticism and hope for the best. That's why we are here.

It happens slowly, but it happens. DBD egoing is some of the most nasty stuff ive seen in online games. Id rather not have to deal with that thx." I doubt a lot of people in the community are going to agree with that, the last 3 months eveyone has said that the game both on the survivor and killer ends are miserable. The biggest issue right now on the survivor end are survivors killing themselves on hook and on the killer end is using the same killer with the sam perks over and over again to stand a chance against teams. I agree that BHVR has improved in a lot of areas but the core issues have not been fixed such as map RNG, SWF's or tiles in general.
Just may I ask, for how long have you been following dbd on any form of social media? These complains have been there for years. Survivors giving up has been common snce 6.1.0. While it has gona up a bit, the wave of giving up when that match came out was monstrous.
The devs have been doing a lot better over the last few years if you look at the broader picture. Compare it to the first 4 years and you WILL know what I mean. Complaining about swf, loadouts and a stale meta is absolutely nothing new. Its the reason 6.1.0 happened in the first place.

- Survivor A is hooked
- Survivor B uses the perk on Survivor A
- Survivor B is hooked
- Survivor B is unhooked
- Survivor B is hooked and sacrificed
In the above scenario, Survivor B was only hooked twice, AND that survivor willingly used STB to take a hook state from someone else. Are you really going to count that as "bad tunneling"?
Depends on the situation. If only one gen remains (for whatever reason), then no. You tried to create pressure. Thats understandable at this point in a match.
If it was done at 5-4 gens remaining, then yes. It was totally unnecessary.

If I'm purposely doing strategies for the intention of winning the game, that is 100% acceptable. I tunnel because it helps me win, and that is acceptable.
What is not fine, is when people do things with the intention of making other players miserable. Yes, there is a big difference here.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3864920#Comment_3864920
My argument is the perk isn't anti-tunnel, because when SWFs bring multiple copies of this perk, tunneling and not tunneling leads to the same outcome (the hook states being spread out). The killer isn't better off if they avoid tunneling, with the only exception of quickly throwing someone else on a hook and then immediately going right back to the tunnel.
My argument is the perk shouldn't be allowed to daisy chain, which means that if a survivor uses the perk on someone else, then they should be ineligible on having someone use the perk on them. If this change was made, then a killer would actually be better off targeting a survivor that used this perk, instead of continuing to tunnel the same survivor over and over.
I think you have to realize, that tunneling is making some people's games miserable. There are even people going out of their way to check profiles to tunnel the one with the least amount of hours. Does that help them win? More often than not it does.
Does it make it less, excuse my wording here, disgusting? No.
Again, you do what you do. But dont expect sympathy from people that you either tunneled or people here that try to tackle tunneling as a problem.
-
Piggy would enter as Amanda.
Fitting perks could be: sole survivor, urban evasion, prove thyself, chemical trap, fast track, friendly competition, object of obsession, plot twist, resurgence, rookie spirit and smash hit. All based on descriptions of course.

"Not tunneling" doesn't lead to a more fun experience for me. This is a PvP game, and it's acceptable to try to win in a PvP game.
Just an FYI, none of you will ever convince me that it's more fun to not tunnel, or that I shouldn't tunnel. Let's just make that 100% clear. Saying "just don't tunnel" is an unacceptable solution for me.
If you like to do it, do it. You bought the game, you can do what you want (if you dont cheat or hack).
We here stand for improving the overall gameplay experience. Tunneling, camping, slugging, gen rushing and stacking stuff that is way too strong leads to a negative experience for most people. Therefore you will not convince us that tunneling is good or that Shoulder the burden needs to be nerfed. I personally see tunneling as a necessarey evil in SOME situations and i think most people can agree to that. If the survivors have a huge advantage in terms of objective, it is only logical for the killer to try to create some pressure. If people go into a match to tunnel, that is not the killer being in a bad spot though. They dont know if tunneling is necessary at all. They just do it regardless. Please consider this: You dont have to make sure the others have fun. However, you dont have to make their experience miserable either.

"I dont like mmr to be shown. Everyones opinion matters. We all play this game. We all bought it. Just because someone has a bad take, or does not have a specific amount of hours / mmr doesnt mean their opinion is not worth being listened to." That's the number 1 reason imo why BHVR won't implement it because they don't want the most tryhards people in the community to have the loudest voice and expose how bad the balance is especially if their voice have more credibility than the Devs themselves. Just have look at last years Stats on the killrates. 61 % killrate on Pig as a whole across all MMR behind Freddy who has a 63 % killrate.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FX4Q1F8DCQ0A/killrates.jpg
He has a ton of videos on his channel and i don't know tbh if you are allowed to post links to videos without it getting removed but here is a full stream that was an experiment between using Bloodwarden or Remember me on his Endgame build.
https://www.youtube.com/live/IcFHB7ZGXKc?si=rLs09---dsN2ARby
I don't know if Freddy is getting a rework tbh Dvveet, a prominent leaker had this to say in one of his tweets recently "BHVR is working towards established key terms regarding gameplay changes. This is partly to manage expectations when talking abt upcoming content. An upcoming one for example are the Freddy changes being a Killer Update, not just a Tweak but also not a full Rework.KEY TERMS -• KILLER TWEAK: Number changes, for example increasing / decreasing something by a few seconds or percentage. Ex. The Mastermind’s cooldown change or The Shape’s various changes in December update. • KILLER UPDATE: Changes or new additions that stay within the realm of a Killer’s existing abilities and interactions.Ex. The Singularity receiving Slipstream aim assist and Biopod lock-on.• KILLER REWORK: Changes that fundamentally modify a Killer’s abilities or interactions.Ex. The Hillbilly losing Overheat and instead receiving Overdrive (Power Rework) alongside a complete add-on changes and tweaks." So it's obviously not a rework, they stated as much in their latest survey.
He is getting something big. That much is certain. Hes the main focus of the update and pretty much everyone want to see him changed. Sadly old Freddy will not make a return much to many of our forum veterans disappointment.
Hopefully its gonna be a Sadako-like situation, where they combine the first and second iteration. I hope he gets what he deserves. He desperately needs it.The devs have credibility. They do some wonky stuff from time to time, but theyve shown over the last few years, that they do understand and listen to feedback on top of pushing the game in the right direction. It happens slowly, but it happens. DBD egoing is some of the most nasty stuff ive seen in online games. Id rather not have to deal with that thx.

If you think Freddy requires less skill than Pig, i would implore you to look up Survival Horror Entertainment on Youtube, He has been a Freddy main since the beginning and i'm starting to think he is the best Freddy player out there. 2K hours is not a lot in DBD imo. Especially since most of the veterans have atleast 6k hours in this game or more at this point. The reason why you are not seeing those 4-man "comp" teams with 10 k hours each depends entirely on the region and the time you play which means a lot of balance discusssions in this game is pointless imo because we don't know the timezones of each player and which time they play their matches. I really wish your MMR was visible, it would make a lot of balance discussion easier cause you would know which people you should listen to and which people not to listen to.
You misunderstood. I have a lot more hours in dbd. I have over 2k hours on Pig. Solely on this one killer.
Trust me, I do see them. Even some of the tournament winners that are well known.
I dont like mmr to be shown. Everyones opinion matters. We all play this game. We all bought it. Just because someone has a bad take, or does not have a specific amount of hours / mmr doesnt mean their opinion is not worth being listened to.
You ask them to elaborate, show your perspective and maybe you can convince them that their point of view was a bit short sighted. Id say hours say a bit more even, due to mmr being so wonky. mmr does not equal skill (something hockey something).
Id like to be convinced that Freddy has a higher skill ceiling than I think he has. Ive played him a lot had havent seen it thus far. Feel free to convince me.

When SWFs stack this perk, tunneling and not tunneling leads to the same outcome.
Therefore, I might as well tunnel, because tunneling doesn't punish me more than not tunneling. This perk fails to actually discourage tunneling. It just results in a survivor getting hooked 5 or 6 times in the same game, which causes the survivors to get way more frustrated than if they were tunneled out at 3 hooks.
That is subjective. Id enjoy getting tunneled if I get 6 tries at it.
How about just not tunneling? If the result is the same, but not tunneling leads to a more fun experience, then go for it! -

- Survivor C uses the perk on survivor B
- I hook survivor C
- Survivor D uses the perk on survivor C
In the above scenario, I haven't tunneled at all, and the survivors still used the perk 3 times to spread the hook states. This means the perk doesn't actually discourage tunneling, because tunneling and not tunneling leads to the same result.

…But that's just the perk working, not the perk being overpowered or specifically harming killers who don't tunnel.
It's supposed to stop you from tunnelling, it's an anti-tunnel perk. If it doesn't do that, what's it supposed to do?
You're not being harmed when an unbalanced tactic is prevented, you're just being reset to neutral. You can avoid this supposed detriment by just not tunnelling to begin with and you'll be just fine.
+1
If you didnt tunnel, and they used the perk spreading hooks, which also lead to no tunnel, then you lost nothing and they gained nothing. The perk worked, yes, but in the long run it did nothing. If where able to get an insta down, it was even detrimental.
Overall, the perk punishes tunneling. Tunneling is strong but awful to play against. A game is supposed to be fun. The perk is a win in my book.

You're missing the part that when a SWF stacks this perk, it just ends up making everyone unhappy. Do you know how much complaining survivors do when I throw someone on a hook 5 or 6 times in the same game?
Because when a coordinated SWF uses this perk, they will stack the perk if I hook the same person multiple times, and they will daisy chain the perk if I instead hook the person that used this perk. This means that it doesn't matter which people I hook, because the hook states will get spread out regardless of what I do, so I might as well just continue tunneling.
Don't tunnel in the first place???

I'm still having games where multiple survivors bring this perk, and they are purposely stacking or daisy chaining the perk. And they will use the perk even if tunneling hasn't happened in that game.
And yes, this also happens when I’m playing the event mode.
If tunneling hasn't happened, how does this perk effect you in a negative way?
I understand, that not all tunneling is intentional and that sometimes obe just find the same survivor by chance.
If you don't tunnel, then you shouldn't have a problem with going for many hook stages. Therefore this perk, that allows the survivors to make the killer go for many hook stages, should not be much of a problem to you.
Am I missing something?

- 100 % agree with that, it also doesn't help that the matchmaking is all over the place meaning you either can stomp most of your survivors 1 day and the other day get teams 24/7. "The higher your mmr becomes the more dbd shows it's nasty side." That's why i stopped playing killer, 24/7 stress fests is not my idea of fun.
"Therefore I stopped trying to win by all means and just played. I went into the match with the mindset to just have fun. Believe it or not, but I've been enjoying the game a lot more since then. I also won a lot more. A calm and collected mind that focuses on playing well wins more than someone forcing wins by any means while being in the verge of smashing their monitor the moment the next dh hits. That's just my experience though." 2. I agree with that but the skill ceiling with both Freddy and Pig is very low and getting to that ceiling doesn't take that much time to get to meaning the only thing you can hope for at that point is to face bad/new players which thankfully there is a lot of in DBD. 3. I agree to some extent but once again, all of this is just subjective opinions. my whole mindset when i go into a solo queue match is " i wonder what kinda teammates i get in this match". 4. A lot of people within the community already knew that a SBMM system based on kills/escapes is only going to drive the game into a very "unfun" meta for both sides that includes slugging, bming, tunnelling, constant sweat, More SWF's, meta builds etc etc.
Dont be fooled, Piggy has a pretty high skill ceiling. Its a strategic one though. Memorizing box spawns, invisible ambush hitboxes, moondashing, rng-usage are all things you can master as piggy. I have 2k+ hours on her and am still learning new stuff. Even when facing very strong groups, I never felt powerless as Pig. Obviously this does not include your comp 4man with 10k hours each. I consider these groups to be the rrarest thing in dbd though, therefore…
Freddy on the other hand… Lets hope the best for his rework.

I'm lost on what y'all are talking about, for the most part. Something about 6.1.0, the patch that was a downplayed major survivor buff, because most of the killer buffs got done away with?
But killers not caring about the survivors' fun is sound logic, because to most people caring about their fun is playing bad on purpose. "Don't tunnel someone out, because it's mean! Who cares if it's the objective best play?!" But when we flip it and say survivors don't care about the killer's fun, that means gen rushing, generally. I don't have a problem if they just do the gens fast and win. I have a problem with the game state that allows that, not them... unless they want to be toxic and showboat about it.
To me, when survivors SWF up and go all-in on flashlight saves, sabo, or Head-On, that's not simply not caring about the killer's fun. That's going out of their way to give the killer a bad time, because again, if they just wanted to win, they'd simply gen rush. All that other stuff is them wanting him to get stunned over and over. And while it's less efficient than rushing gens, it allows 1-2 survivors on gens to keep knocking them out, so they're essentially bullying the killer while not being slowed much at all on their objective for doing so. That's not right.
Also, I've never heard "the killer's fun is the survivors' responsibility" from anybody. More often, I've heard so-called killer mains talking about supposed "sportsmanship" and "giving a fighting chance" to the survivors. How come? I don't know. I've never been one to give up a free win to give the other side a chance to beat me. To me, that's toying with people.
Do they "all" go in or just two?
I personally really enjoy groups where all four survivors try to "bully" me as killer. I play this game for chases and interaction. Spreading out and doing gens is the least interactive thing to do as a survivor. Same is tunneling as a killer.
Most of the time, a whole team going for blinds, saves and stuns throw the game anyway if the killer is competent enough.
Regarding the fun - aspect though, it is debatable if the survivors dont care about the killers fun at all. They rarely do gens, therefore providing the killer with more time to kill them. They offer the strongest slowdown imaginable. As you pointed out, killers dont like it when gens get done too fast, so survivors that go in to be done with them as quickly as possible "dont care about the killers fun".
I guess this solely comes down to the mindset of both sides and what they consider the other sides actions to be fun for them. Some survivors enjoy getting tunneled, some dont. Some killers enjoy "bully"-squads, some dont.
I do. I give up free wins to give people a chance to beat me. Why? I dont like free wins. I like to work for my wins and if they result in a loss, I dont really mind because I have nobody else to blame for than myself. I found the most interesting and entertaining matches to be close ones. If you have the opportunity for a "free win", the match presumably wasnt that at all. I dont mind giving my opponent a bit of room for error if it results in a more entertaining experience for everyone.

well sadly the game is completely unwinnable as a killer, if you dont run a full gen regression build with a meta killer. Because you will get absolutely destroyed by mediocre survivors.
That is just wrong. You know it. We know it.

Hahahahaha, peace of mind xD
To share a story... This reminds me of my first D&D character, who was naive yet kind hearted monk, but also a half elf who didn't really get recieved well in society... and lacking the charisma to overcome the stigma his race often endured...
My party were a bunch of... well… murder hobos basically...
- a self agrandising dwarf trying to escape from under his heroic brothers name via any means
- a warlock tiefling obsessed with knowledge with a particularly unhealthy interest in human dissection/experimentation
- a wizard always greedy for gold, and willing to commit any number of atrocities he could get away with to gain more
- a zealoted paladin constantly being manipulated and tricked by the other 3, and regularly bringing divine vengeance on any he believed strayed from the path as their fast talking him directed
- a no necked gnome cleric who was the very embodiment of chaos, who lived to cause mayhem wherever he went, no matter the consequences
The horrors my monk witnessed throughout that time turned him into a half-broken shell of a man, trying and unable to resolve or even fully comprehend the morality and death he witnessed while in that party...
One of these adventures ended up meeting Snata, a mystical being who distributed gifts to each member of the party in exchange for saving him from a huge raider attack...
The gift awarded to my Monk's was "peace of mind"... the gift of quelling his anxious thoughts, removing the sustained trauma, and a reprieve from the guilt wracking his addled mind... I can't help but feel this was perhaps the greatest gift of all time xD
Hope you're enjoying the holidays everyone! A pre-emptive Happy New Year 😁
Thank you for sharing this story. It made me rather sentimental.

I loathe both variants
I think they both embody everything killers hate
Survivors lose Los very easily
Most pallets are not mindgamable and need to be broken or create god loops
Quite a few god pallets if were being honest with ourselves
heavily favour shift w play styles
Wide gen spreads
Lots of spots for good lithes and balanced landings
And just in general lots of places to waste a killers without doing much on the survivor side of things
The map is also quite big TBH you may disagree but eh whatever
The only redeeming quality is the 2 gens in the middle of the hallway, but ever since the 8 gen limit was introduced and the fact that 2 survivors can do a gen in 40 seconds flat or just bring toolboxes yea… it's not that viable anymore to hold a 3 gen there
It's not so bad on stealth killers or someone like pig maybe
But if the survivors have a brain i feel like unless i play out of my mind it's a 2k at best and most likely a 1k
People say east wing is killer sided but i don't think they thought of that themselves and are only mimicking otz map tier list which is quite outdated at this point and honestly one of his tier lists I've seen some very questionable choices
I main Dracula now and RPD and the game are the only maps where I question my life choices playing Dracula
Pig-, Sadako - main. Love it.
Even when playing survivor, I like playing on it for some reason.

More Tiers - yes.
A big reward at the end - No. The additional Rift Tiers are for people who complete the Main Part of the Rift (until Tier 85) very quickly so that they see a number going up and get a bit for their playtime and Fragments. A big reward at Tier 200 would just mean that players would feel like they have to grind to Tier 200 to not miss out.
Agree. I often struggle to even finish the deep rift. I would not manage to reach 200. I don't have the time to do that.

Imo the new coldwind works better than the old one since you could tell they were trying to go for that sort of Texas Chainsaw feel with the nastiness of everything, and I absolutely love it.
All the guts and blood everywhere... you can almost smell that through the screen with how well they portray the horror that went on inside those buildings.
I know its an unpopular opinion, but the Coldwind maps are the best maps aesthetically.

- Because daylight can exist in horror while still being gritty and like Shroompy mentioned in their reply above, Daytime Coldwind very much gives off the same vibes TCM had in the original movie, something i much more prefer over the yellow night sky old Coldwind had, however i would generally prefer to have both night and daytime maps to exist in dbd rather than just having either a night or daytime map varient only, as having both would give better variety. (Although a night time varient of Coldwind in which the sky is pitch dark instead of yellow would be preferable imo.)
- As i mentioned in my initial comment, i hate the old coldwind's yellow filter with a passion, more so than what i do with all of the other color filters old dbd had and i'm incredibly glad they're all gone. I found Coldwind's especially ugly and generally unpleasant to look at whenever i played on it back in the days.
- It's just my contrarian opinion in a long list of other hot takes i have about this game.
The bright coldwind feels like a weekend trip to your grandparents. Tbf, that can be horror for some I guess.
Which is exactly why i usually take issue with sentiments such as this, because it's in the same vein as whenever people claim ''Horror can't take place during daylight'', which is objectively incorrect.
Good points!
I guess it sometimes comes down to preference though. I liked the old ones more despite the awful graphics.
I can absolutely see why you like it.

I hope they never revert Coldwind back to that god awful night time variant old dbd had, especially with its crappy yellow piss filter.
Why though?
I very much enjoyed the griddy esthetics and found it very fitting to the games overall atmosphere.

As someone that disliked the perks change im still not happy with it. I agree, that it's not as strong as a lot of people (including me) thought it might be.
My criticism still stands though. This perk punishes the killers that already struggle. A strong killer like Wesker, Spirit, Plague or Dracula, not to mention Blight or Nurse, have no problems with injuring survivors fast. Killers like Trapper, Freddy, Myers or Pig however often struggle with getting the first hit in chase.

You are the Killer I at 1.6k hours am struggling to be more like. It's so hard to train myself out of this endless need to perform and look good, and it's so stressful. Bottom line is, I don't have fun trying to force 4ks especially if it's clear the Survs just wanna win really hard. I want it to be breezy and simple and a nice back and forth, or I don't want it anymore, because as you said - the more you win, the more annoying the game gets, and the more needlessly difficult you make it on yourself. After a while - AS EVERY SINGLE KILLER I don't care where in the Tierlist they fall - you find yourself fighting upstream and maybe even feeling nauseous or sick at the idea of playing Killer, and it's just like… what is the point? I have everything, I have no more people to prestige, I got all the perks, I've hit Iri I a few times, I have nothing left but cheevos maybe, I have the cool photos, I HAVE almost everything - so why am I bothering to pursue pips and stuff instead of just playing the game?
And I think most people who play Killer secretly want that - an easy nice back and forth - but they're either too proud or too caught up in the winstreak high to admit it, if they haven't done it already.
Well put together. From my experience, the way I play just happened over time. You will most certainly get there eventually!
Don't stress yourself too much while playing. You can't, and shouldn't, win them all and that is ABSOLUTELY FINE. The less serious you take the game, the more you will enjoy it and funnily enough, the better you will often perform.
Have nice holidays ^^

As someone with over 5,000 hours, I've seen almost everything. I've escaped, been sacrificed, been Mori'd, performed sacrifices, tunneled survivors, been tunneled, ect, ect.
Bloodpoints and raising the Prestige on my characters is now what fuels me. It's my way of showing love to characters I've come to love.
Also, I don't use the auto-spend bp feature. I go out of my way to buy the more expensive items.
I must admit I'm a bit of a hoarder with my items too and I like to collect purple toolboxes and medkits.
I guess the best way I can explain it is that aside from the game, it gives you a side hobby, something to show off, even if just to myself as with my items.
You can show them to us!
I'm always down to see some impressive collections.

All of what you are saying here is anecdotal evidence because that's not my experience at all. I do agree that most public lobby solo queue survivors don't play perfect but the thing is that they don't have to be considering how many second chance perks have been added over the years. That's your mentality when it comes to playing killer but i like winning because i consider that to be a fun aspect of playing DBD and that thought process has solidified itself more into my brain ever since they added SBMM into the game espeically with kills and escapes being the determining factor whether or not i gain or lose MMR. Not carrying whether i get a 3k or 4k is your mindset when it comes to killer and personally that doesn't sound like a Killer main in my ears, just like i'm not a survivor main (where i don't care whether i win or lose because a lot of it is just determined by what kinda teammates i get) but i switched to it because i think in my personal opinion that it is less stressful. A lot of these things are subjective, anecdotal and can't really be discussed especially since our MMR is hidden, i genuinely believe if they made MMR visible it would be a lot easier to have discussion like this cause you would know which players you would listen to and not listen due to where they are in MMR bracket. It would also expose a lot of these content creators since you would know if they actually have an idea of what they are talking about or if they are just at low MMR and beating on 10 hour survivors that just bought the game.
I have played over 3k hours of Pig. I have found out almost every single little trick you can do with her. Dbd becomes very monotonous over the time. Getting kills does that as well. Therefore I try to find my own fun. It's a game after all. They are supposed to be fun. Dbd became more like a job the more I focused on forcing wins that just should not be. The more I won, the less fun I had. The higher your mmr becomes the more dbd shows it's nasty side.
This being, that not the more skilled players win, but those bringing the better loadout. As Pig is often found the limitations of the killer. Comp people using the absolute best items and perks while being in coms and a map of their choice. Winning against these guys wasn't fun. It didn't feel right.
I play dbd mostly for the m1 chase and the strategic aspect of Pig and Sadako. I prefer to go for 12 hooks with a chill build. This is straight up not possible against those teams.
Therefore I stopped trying to win by all means and just played. I went into the match with the mindset to just habe fun. Believe it or not, but I've been enjoying the game a lot more since then. I also won a lot more. A calm and collected mind that focuses on playing well wins more than someone forcing wins by any means while being in the verge of smashing their monitor the moment the next dh hits. That's just my experience though.
As soloq survivor though, this mindset is hard to apply because your fun can very often be ruined by your team doing funny things.
Of course this is anecdotal evidence. Same is your experience.
I prefer not to have mmr revealed. Id prefer for it to be removed and a different system to be introduced. Everyone's opinion matters. I for myself often play, played and won against comp players. Even those with big names. So I can say for myself: I'm where they are at.
