I mean I main doctor so I'm there too. I'm just pointing out how survivors will be happy when a killer loses ways to express skill then complain about how all they face is nurse and blight
If certain skill expression leads to problematic in-game situations, then the players executing it should be self-aware enough to understand that being changed.
Remember, that Blight got hug-tech removed?
Additionally, not everyone that loses certain skill expression immediately is like: "Ok, I cant do this one trick anymore, time to destroy everything with the strongest loadout availible in game." Thats one extreme mindset right there.

Hey man. Been maining Pig and Sadako for literal years now. Not everyone takes the easiest way to win and thats good so.
Edit: been through the Pig nerfs btw…
-
Pig:
- Stbfl
- Lethal
- BBQ
- Surge
- Johns medical file
- Workshop grease
(this is my chill build. Best build looks a bit more boring and slowdown / hex heavy)
Sadako:
- Stbfl
- Hex: Face the darkness
- Surge
- Discordance
- Ring drawing
- Bloody fingernails
(An incredibly good build, not just to learn this killers most effective playstyle but also very strong in general to keep monitoring the entire map while maintaining pressure)

From 17:38 to 17:58 this guy says something that I've never realized before to be an actual thing: Killer anxiety.
There's so much BS killers have to endure from the survs every match…
For myself I can say that I do get this EVERYTIME, but 90% of these times I still go through and play killer. The other 10% I can't go through mostly because I had a crappy day at work and I know playing killer will make this much worse.Had that when I started playing. At this point though, playing killer feels like doing the dishes. You know you often dont want to do it, but youve done it often enough that it becomes routine.
Dont stress yourself when playing a video game. Real life is already stressful enough.
-
Just a general question: how many games do we actually want to END normally?

Great news, it’s bad and unfair when killers have good and useful perks!
If you like to stomp the weakest role in the game with a perk that is only good against then, then sure. Your losing your power. Overall, this means, that the game is healing.
-
100% deserved. A farewell to the most unhealthy perk in dbd. Good riddance.
-
What they should do is to finally make the animation match with the hitbox to make the tail less frustrating.
Its LONG overdue and would definitely make the killer nicer to play already.

Not in such an intense way, but you see sometimes Lightbulbs flickering. I dont know if they fixed it, but it can be really annoying in the House of Pain (I THINK the Badham-version) in the Room where the 4 Lockers are located. I have seen some examples in a video from Otz, but I cannot find it.
I understand where your coming from, but I have to side with @Coffeecrashing on that one. Nothing in the game has or ever had the intensity of a flashlight macro. It got rightfully deleted in my personal opinion.
However I do agree, that some of those lightbulbs should be looked at.

Oh, I dont care why it was changed. I just think that their reasoning was not the main reason why they changed it. Because otherwise they would put more effort into making sure that their maps dont do the same as Flashlights did in the past.
What map does flashing lights in the same intense way a macro did?

Yes, but the developers released a roadmap that confirms the next PTB with the new killer will drop next Tuesday (so three-weeks later than planne)d. We can expect this PTB might includes more than just the new killer
Thx for clarifying!
-
Isn't there a delay for new content due to the planned operation health?
-
I understand how you feel. Lowering the skill ceiling is never good and flashlight have been hit a lot. Saving is also easier than before (although not the easiest it has even been.)
@Aven_Fallen said:
If I remember correctly, the changes to Flashlight clicking and the timing of Flashlight Saves were done in separate Updates. The timing of Flashlight Saves was changed when they removed the possibility to save someone when they are grabbed out of a Locker by the Killer.
I also dont think that the clicking was removed due to epilepsy (there are still things in the game which can trigger it, e.g. you have flashing light bulbs), but simply because Killers complained about it. Remember, those are the people who brought BHVR to change "Entity displeased" to "The Entity Hungers"…
When it comes to usage, I would simply say that making Flashlight Saves easier is certainly an aspect, but I think the main reason is simply that Medkits and Toolboxes have always been better (Flashlights are a pretty weak Survivor-Item and I never got the complaints about them, because every Survivor who is bringing a Flashlight is not bringing a Medkit and therefore way better for the Killer if they pay a little bit attention…) and that the game shifted more towards Killers so if you want to win, you cannot just equip a Flashlight anymore and be basically idle and just follow the Killer to get a Flashlight Save. This might have been a thing years ago that one Survivor could completely ignore the Objective and the Survivors still had a good chance of winning, but this is not possible anymore. If you have a Dude with a Flashlight not doing Gens, you will lose the game in 2025.
Sure, there are still players who dont care, but most players also want to escape and are therefore forced to do the Objective. And since Toolboxes speed up the Objective and Medkits make the team overall more efficient, they are used more often than Flashlights.
Macro flashlights did cause some people to feel dizzy. I know at least one person that could not play against macros due to that.
On top of it, it was an expression of bm that, in comparison to tbagging and "humping" was possible to be deleted by changing the item. I absolutely understand why and that they did it.
However as with everything in dbd (and in life) there are positives and negatives to it.
-
They should make the tail hitbox align with the actual animation for the tail to make the killer less frustrating and I think the amount of players would increase.
Right now, playing Xeno is often just frustrating and not really a fun experience. -
Having any content leave the game is very sad to see.
I sincerely hope that BHVR and the license holders can come to an agreement to make Pinhead enter the fog again!

I actually like playing on Midwich. Even though I think it's difficult for killer and for unorganized solos, it's just fun to run. And it's got some map happenings, like the guy falling out of the cage (or locker?) in that locker room above the red room exit gate. And if you do certain gens, the door to the tower outside opens up. Doesn't it have a chest in there as well?
Just because I'm curious, what map do you think is easy(er) for killer?

Also Bioshock ! I bet it would drag some people.
Amnesia would be insane to have in dbd, Frictional is such a good dev team !
Penumbra was insane, so was Soma and Amnesia is iconic.
Bioshock is still my personal most wanted collab.
The first game is pretty old though at this point. Don't know if it catches a younger audience.

"We should learn from history and not make the same mistakes again."
Dbd in its normal state is absolutely not fit for esports as it was not designed with that in mind.
If you want to see something similar regardless, there exist content creators that participate and host such events. While I personally don't support them in any way, feel free to take a look.
-
Maps could be repurposed to be more team oriented. There already exists an addon that allows to create pillars of light, so I'd like them to go more into that route. With that I mean, that the item could allow for the holder to mark certain objects on the map for the whole team. Could help a lot in soloq.
Keys are a lot trickier, as they are directly tied to the hatch and have been a big problem in the past. I personally hope that they redesign the hatch mechanic as it almost always creates a boring scenario for both sides instead of a climactic ending to the trial. They could however also tie the idea of the key to chests, making them drop way better items when opened with a key. One thing I absolutely do not want to see is then being reverted to their busted state.

I think they should try it out and see how it works. DBD mobile did it for years, so im assuming that it works somehow.
Some people will dodge for the oddest reasons and they will always be there. But to find out how much of an issue it really is, we need to test it out.

which is why I said we'd make adjustments as necessary, if it does impact kill rates etc negatively
Im curious about what the adjustements will look like. As many others already pointed out, this could either heal or break dbd as we know it.
Tread carefully <3 -
@Mandy said:
I'll jump in here right away to try to reassure you, if any feature that's implemented changes kill rates drastically and in a negative manner (as you know we aim for approx 60% kill rate), we will make adjustments as necessary. These are QoL features, so focusing on game health and enjoyment, these are not balancing changes as such.
If you are tackling camping, tunneling and slugging, then this undeniably effects the balance of the game. Am I missing something?

Legion I probably tied with Wesker on most fun killer to played with 2v8 rn getting chainhits and building it up while gaining increased speed it's very euphoric and fun. Makes sense new people wanna try him out
I agree! Saldy playing against Legion is the most unfun experience 2v8 has to offer. At least in my personal opinion.
Funnily enough, you say, that new players want to try out legion because of their power. Then again, the players we are talking about refuse to use their power. Something doesnt add up.
-
I have seen that as well and think it has two reasons:
- They are incredibly new and, as you said, have not understood the power
- They feel bad for the survivors and refuse to use their power (thats what one Legion player with 3k hours told me yesterday)
To be honest, I dont complain about it as a survivor. As a killer, I have to respect their decision / playtime, however I have to ask: if the second aspect is the reason they are not using the power, then why are they playing Legion in the first place?

I think they are looking at it from the perspective of "the Survivors will finish the first Generator before the Killer can get there" but it is horrible inefficient compared to splitting Generators. Also with Prove Thyself not really being used, it really does not do much.
1 Generator done versus 3 Generators having massive progress; I rather take the later of the two.
Thats how i see it too.
The longer it takes for one gen to pop, the more scared I am, that it wont be just one.

Hey, leave pig out of this.
No really. She can perform very well at higher level with the correct strategies and loadout. No need to support the "pig is so weak" - train.

Survivors spawning together is a, from the survivor perspective, generator nerf.

On the topic, yes. This seems to be a healthy buff to hexes. Much better than the thrill of the hunt shenanigans we had to deal with a couple of months ago.

Giving one person what they want is definitely smarter than giving the other eight people what they want
If we use such an argument here, why can't it be used in regular play about literally any other thing Victims find problematic? It's a fallacies argument to say, that because the majority (the Victims) want something, it should trump the Killers say in every scenario, just because they're more.
Legion just sucks to play against and there's nothing else to it.
Highly subjective.

An actual Positive Polly! Keep up the good mood, friend, we need more of you in this game.
Thx! Always try to.

I honestly really enjoy survivor 2v8. Queue times are insanely short, games are fast and learning has never been easier. The relatively small amount of killer results in you getting to learn to play against their powers a lot faster than in normal 1v4 and the lack of impact of many mistakes as a survivor plays into that as well.
A good amount of bp on top of it makes it even better. As someone that doesnt care that much about escaping and more about a fun experience, I prefer this over survivor 1v4.

I personally absolutely love it! On both sides!
Killer is a lot of fun in either soloq or with a friend. Survivor is just pure chaos and i love it.
What I like most about this mode is the learning-value it provides. The relatively small killer roster makes learning survivor a lot easier as does learning the killers powers through the constant chasing aspect of 2v8.
On top of that, we have og Nemesis. The literal only thing that sucks is the queue on killer, but even that is tolerable.
Edit: oh, and Legion. Adding Legion was a mistake.

Hook grab removal has been a long time ago. Shoulder the burden is in almost no games, for real. Pain res is still strong.
Deliverance is also rarely used and is yet the most oppressive and powerful survivor perk.
Pain Res is not that strong anymore after the 5% nerf. It's okayish and probably would hold low A-tier. Eruption is the only actually still very good regression perk.
You sound like someone that uses "meta" only. I encourage you to look beyond that. You can play however you want of course. I dont slug because i see no reason to do so. My builds still work like they used to work.
my opponent plays meta, why should i handicap myself to suit their agenda? And i slug because that's basically necessary part of Oni's power.
My build used to have Pain Res constantly, but after many matches with the post-nerf version of it, i dropped it for Eruption.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3882406#Comment_3882406
Weren't you complaining about DS the other day?
yes, i was. DS was tweaked in a way where it became even more powerful against majority of killers it was already strong against, while the core problem of it against Billy, Nurse and Blight still remained. There was a way to make the perk be much better against Nurse, Blight and Billy while not being even more powerful against other killers but hey, i guess "casual" players know better.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3882414#Comment_3882414
what exactly is wrong with my statement? People literally feel the full freedom to play soloQ in ways where they are actively sabotaging their team. People in SWFs won't decide to just troll if the rest of their team isn't trolling, people in SWF won't give up if the rest of their team doesn't want to. Why? Because they know they are playing with their friends and they don't want to throw the match for the whole team to fail.
On top of everything, every single change implemented to help soloQ often isn't even utilized by people in soloQ at all.
Now again, what's exactly wrong with my statement?
If something is not existant in matches, then its not a good reason for a big change in gameplay if you ask me personally. Same with deli.
As you play Oni, i see why you slug. The power heavily favours it. No doubt about that. I think this post is more about general slugging though. Not killer specific slugging. Plague and Hag are also great sluggers due to their powers supporting a fast down playstyle.
As I said, you do you. As a little advice though: Only using meta can make your experience very stale and quickly unfun. At least from my experience. Enjoy your matches!

it can't still be as viable as it used to be few months ago when last hook based killer meta perk, Pain Res, got nerfed again, while survivors got currently strongest survivor perk StB, hook grabs removed, +10s to hook timers and saboing buffed. Only two actually meta hook related killer perks are Grim and DMS.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3882259#Comment_3882259
Perks are not necessarily nerfed because they are overused (Corrupt and WoO for example), perks are nerfed for various known and unknown reasons (more often unknown). Pain Res was nerfed to a 4 fresh hooks token based system because of it's synergy with old DMS, Pop received a hard nerf that rendered it borderline useless.
Hook grab removal has been a long time ago. Shoulder the burden is in almost no games, for real. Pain res is still strong.

I'm still of the simple opinion of : you don't need to do this. At all.
Hooking is as viable as it has been a couple of months before.
Some people just want their matches to be chill (which is absolutely understandable) but also win all the time (which contradicts with the first one).
