  • I don't get why everyone goes mad over flashlight users. If you hate it so much then there is lightborn and its great.

If some schmuck is following you around clicking at you then they are providing free pressure for you by not doing the objective, you don't have to chase that person they are basically chasing themselves.

edit. Yes it is obnoxious and thematically bad and I'm not a fan of it because my goal when playing DBD is to have a survival horror experience not an esports loopy chase tag experience, its hard to get that when survivors are all obnoxious and in your face. This problem is often solved by lightborn and I run it a lot.

  • Lots of people just get annoyed at legit gameplay though so its hard to police what is "toxic" in game.

Outside of abusive etc endgame chat and blatant exploiting of the game, cheats etc there is little else you can ban for.

I reckon solo mode custom game bots would help a lot. You have a series of bad games you either quit and think this game sucks or you take that anger out on other players. With a solo bot mode you could have a few games against mindless bots, take your anger out on them and then return to online play refreshed. I think it would cut down on a lot of toxicity.

We all get tilted from time to time but that's no excuse to be a jerk to other people. Be a jerk to bots they can take it.

  • I'd love to see it regress the gen on good check and stun you similar to killer stun on fail, then it'd have more impact.

Imagine coming out of stun to see the killer standing in your face, holy crap that would scare me.

Yeah, that is why I always pretend I am not wearing lightborn. They are really easy to trick. The last thing I want is for them to stop trying to flashlight save. Lol.

lightborn and infinite tier 3 tombstone myers I've had games where I have ranked up to tier three at 4 gens thanks to constant flashlight attempts.

  • Just played my first match of predator hunting grounds. So much fun.

Also has solo play custom game with bots so aft the queue times got to long I just played a few solo matches for fun and called it.

Think this will be my new go to.

I'll come back to DBD when they implement custom game bots.

  • They fail because rather than do gens they follow you trying to get flashlight saves and get really tilted by camping.

I've had games where the whole team forgot about the last gen and just hook traded till all dead because they didn't like me hanging around the hook at 1 gen left. I don't get it but I'll take it because its more fun than trying to pressure a coordinated gen rush squad and lightborn renders their main thing useless.

If they figure out lightborne and smash out the gens asap then its no different to any other game.

  • Just played my first round o fpredator hunting grounds its a lot of fun.

Also has solo play with bots so I'm really happy about that. I can see this being my new go to.

I'll still play DBD but until they introduce custom mode bots it'l be sparingly at best.

  • I second leatherface.

If you don't have his perks, then BBQ & chilli is great and franklins is also useful.

Plus ol bubba boy is just fun in general and BBQ once unlocked will cut down the grind on other killers.

  • I never used to get them or if I did they were very subtle about it. I've had 2 insta heal games today.

Started checking profiles again seeing a lot more previous VAC bans than before.

Usually dodge those lobbies, I realise it may not be specific to DBD but still I don't wanna game with these people.

  • Yeah it happens a lot and I don't respect pallets.

I used to think aww but now I expect it. I downed someone last time and didn't realise as I was expecting them to just run off as usual.

Survivors aren't slamming out gens when they have to spend 14 seconds activating their perk though.

People keep seeying all the benifits and are ignoring the cost.

That's 17,5% of a gen survivors are spending to activate them. For something that sounds like can be removed in a couple of seconds.

True but 14 secs is a long time for the average killer but virtually nothing for competent survivors. With SBMMR matching competent survivors together, I think you'll either get folks not bothering to use the boon perks because you can do just fine without them already if you split up and coordinate, or the 14 secs really not being a huge hinderence to the gameplay.

Its not hard to smash out 2-3 gens solo and still pause to cleanse 1-2 totems I find along the way without breaking much sweat or holding the team back.

Things only get difficult when someone just gets hard tunnled out early or you go up against a highly skilled killer who's hook trading and pressuring well and that's in the minority I find.

  • There is kind of a split up and smash out the gens asap META at the moment, but its the main survivor objective so if you can crush 3 gens in the first chase then why wouldn't you.

I don't think it would be fixed by longer gen times though as gens themselves arent very interesting to do.

I always though it would be cool to have to collect some repair parts before you could complete a gen, that way as a group you either collect and fix one gen together or split up and partially fix multiple gens.

Probably a bit oppresiive as a mechanic but it would be more interesting than holding M1 and hitting skill checks for longer.

  • A lot fo the ones I've been watching seem to be switching to survivor which isn't as interesting to watch.

Good to see some solid killer suggestions.

  • I think it stems from that most killers are average and in the current slam out the gens gameplay they feel highly pressured for time.

Even tiny mistakes that extend chases can cost you the game as killer. So if you feel heavily pressured for time in a meta that says slam gens ASAP, the idea of having anohter thing to keep track of is kinda ugh.

For it not to be insanely overpowered they'd have to be limited range and effect and removed by basically totem tapping the same way survivors can currently gen tap to remove regression.

People are thinking that's probably not the case though and its likely killers will have some long arse animation to remove them making an already time crunched meta even more time crunched.

Basically this game is currently killer sweat and stress/survivor listen to music and chill, which feels backward for a survival horror game.

Its all conjecture because we have no confirmed facts on mechanics yet but the idea does kind of make you go ugh within the current gen slam meta.

  • Doc got a complete rework within the last year or so, not sure if they'll prioritise him for changes.

Ever since the RE update came out I always use lightborn.....if it isn't Flashlights its Blast Mine and Flash Bang, and if it was the an annoying clicky folks it would be fine but these last few I have seen are not doing it to annoy it's to be toxic because it was never around big loops or that. They would wait till I was in a chase and if I knocked down another survivor or picked them up here comes the machinegun clicking, or eventually started to give me headaches from the flashing lights.

    Yeah that sucks.

I always look at it this way. If someone is following you all game with a flashlight it’s free pressure just ignore em they are a bigger threat to their teams success than you are.

That logic does go both ways, if you feel entitled to pretend as though the game wasn't severely imbalanced, they are entitled to talk trash about your character. It is a garbage thing to do, quite frankly. But I guess you need to get your feel good wins somehow. In a party game...

I would rather an imbalanced game just finish quick and move on. It’s only a game. I’m sorry my pragmatic answer has upset you but making assumptive personal attacks about playstyle and motivation is the exact thing I’m talking about.

Nobody is responsible for my fun just as I’m not responsible for anyone else’s.

You will have crap games, you have games where you feel it wasn’t fun, you’ll have people who’s motivation and play differs from yours but none of these things are an affront to you.

The only person who can upset you over a game is you. Attacking another player because they didn’t alter their game to suit you is just a recipe for being angry at the game.

There is no entitlement here just pragmatic thinking. No one is pretending the game wasn’t imbalanced. Expecting people to alter their play and getting angry at them for not is entitlement.

  • I think the problem with the SBMM is that it’s boosting killers. I can get one hook in a 5 min game and still be called a brutal killer.

The old rank systems boosted survivors. That often wasn’t so bad because that weak link in a team was what balanced out most matches.

Boosted killers however are just completely out matched. With more accurate pairing of survivors and you have games that are so survivor sided that it feels like there is no way to play killer.

killer needs to up rank slower or down rank harder. Because it only takes one good match for me to be outclassed completely for the next 5-10 or so.

    Nice a classic movie😇

Can you imagine if the developers actually played their game and got matched up to sweat squads or a tunneling killer right off the bat?🤣

Never watched the sequels. Wasn’t a huge fan of the original but enjoyed the scream tv series so thought I’d rewatch the films.

  • Flashlight clicking is not “griefing”. It’s just part of the game same as camping isn’t griefing either.

It can be annoying because survivors are meant to be scared and run from the killer, but if you know how to loop then often there is nothing to fear from the average killer so people get obnoxious and in the killer’s face.

It kinda sucks because it ruins the thematic gameplay. Lightborn is a great perk and the obnoxious clucky folk often melt down about it in post game. If these kinds of players annoy you then consider adding lightborn as standard part of your build.

hopefully killers will get ongoing improvements making them stronger and survivors who want to play in your face and obnoxious can be easily killed removing that element of play, but don’t count on it.

  • Yesterday I played 10 games with Myers where the goal was to nosedive. I got 1-2 hooks max and then just went around breaking stuff. Most games lasted 5 mins. Half had childish abusive endgame chat.

After that I had two games where I 3k hatch with infinite/tombstone and 2k scratched mirror Myers. Both these games felt fun and very balanced.

I had to work to get these kills but not sweat. I didn’t need to camp or tunnel and gens didn’t fly in 2 secs. The second game lasted 9 mins. These 2 games ended with GGs all round and generally friendly endgame chat.

After the two games I got nothing but hardcore sweat squads again and post game tantrum children so decided I’d had the best I could tonight, killed the tutorial bots for a laugh and called it.

New plan is to log on early open a movie in another window, mostly due to long queues but also to wait out endgame. Throw 5-10 games have 2 fun ones and log off.

This is the new DBD and it’s kinda crummy. Tonight’s movie is Scream 2.

  • Why is it the opponent players fault that your teammates where crap.

I love the way survivor players quit and it’s the killer who has to modify their game to make sure everyone has fun.

Your fun is no one else’s responsibility other than your own.

Attacking another player because you didn’t have fun is a you problem.

If you want to leverage your ire anywhere then the people who DC are the culprits.

  • I'm afraid its a blow for DBD as a whole.

Everytime they dumb down killers with more cues it waters down the horror survival element of the game. I like how unpredictable spirit is.

I get the feelling people use the term boring to mean harder to play against. Making her easier to avoid will make her more boring to play against.

People always complain abotu spirit, blight, nurse as the only killers they see in higher ranks but that doesn't mean they should be nerfed that means other killers should be buffed to match them.

Put some fear back into the game, not all of us get off on being able to run killers for 3-4 gens, in fact being able to do that is #########, it means you have a ######### survival horror happening right now.

I wouldn't watch halloween if Myers just ran around unable to hurt anybody and then the film ended, there is no tension in that.

I'm genuinely starting to believe that the folks screaming for killer nerfs and "balance" while making snide titles like "adios spirit" are just people who get off on running other players around and have no real interest in the horror theme of this game at all.

They will be the death of DBD because when all the killers are weak and the gameplay never changes it will be truely boring.

  • How about we just delete all killers and have a single big white square with a swinging arm.

Its called general killer, it runs at 115 and has no discernable abilities other than M1.

Then folks can endlessly loop it and feel good about themselves and no one has to change how they play or fear any kind of variety, difference, strategy or change.

Just keep circling that one rock for 5min then leave via the gates, yay another win for variety!

We'll call it "survive day or night"

  • When was the last time you had enough breathing room to go for 12 hooks.

I'm usually at 2-3 gens done after 1 hook now days, so if people don't die on or right after 1st hook its a forgone conclusion.

  • @DeadByDedicated said:

I think they said that mmr doesn't degrade over time.

Really I'd like to know if that's the case because if it is god dammit.

It doesn't seem to degrade in game either so I guess this is DBD now.

I'll just have to wait for custom mode bots, Oh wait they said they weren't working on that either. God dammit.

  • I wouldn't say that behaviour is toxic, but its not thematic.

Whe survivors are so cocky that they just get in your face all game because in most scenarios you have been poorly matched and can't catch them anyway it really kills the feel of the game.

Nothing worse than a weak antagonist.

  • They only just announced spirit change give it a week at least before the blight crying starts.

  • Its an interesting idea but probably a bit too oppressive to work well in game.

I'd like to see a kind of trip or fall mechanic, if you are busting through vaults in succession then you get an increasing chance of tripping on the vault. Causing you to lose speed sort of opposite to the burst of speed from fast vaulting.

I think it would make some plays more interesting, add a risk reward element to vaults and offset some of the insane RNG of double windows that still persist on some maps.

  • @Mazoobi said:

Even though the spirit still has to 'guess' where a survivor is, she still has the higher advantage in the chase. If you've ever played against high-rank spirits who actually play her for a living, then you'd know why people would rather quit than playing against her.

You literally get no feedback whatsoever when she's phasing and if you're injured with her having Stridor? oh boy... and no, not every survivor has Iron Will equipped.

Spirit is BS since, unlike every other killer, every decision you make in a chase is just a pure guessing game. There's no skill in that.

Actually the title here is spot on.

With pretty much ever other chase killer its much easier for survivors to mindgame and play around terrain than it is killer because you can either see the killer over it or use your wider angle 3prd person view to better guage where they are going. You have to screw up pretty bad as survivor to get caught out in a mindgame.

Spirit took this mechanic and turned it on its head, now the survivor loses the information and the killer gets a cheaky lil am I phasing or am I not play. The survivor has to guess where before its usually the killer who has to guess.

The problem is one on one the killer should have the greater advantage, but players don't like that so we get a nerf of a unique and interesting power so people can play mindgames as usual from a survivor perspective.

Strong killers make the game scary and everytime they take a stick to them it waters down the tension and the horror.

I seems more and more that people don't want strong and varied killers though, they just want the same mechanics to work against every killer everytime, which is a shame and only hurts the game.

I hope they don't nerf her to much because frankly I'll miss the fear of the unknown while being chased by her.

  • You just described 90% of the killer games I play, I get on each evening play about 10-15 games as killer, mixing it up sometimes but mostly Trapper and Myers.

I'd say 12-13 games are a steamroll where I sweat for one hook and the survivors spend most of the game rubbing it in my face rather than finishing the gens and leaving.

Then I typically get 1-2 games where I have a shred of a chance and maybe I'll 3k. It's like this every night since SBMM was released but I keep plugging away to see if it gets any better.

Can't believe I'm about to say this but I miss the old rank system, at least I knew where I stood, had some kind of feedback about why a game was hard and could sit in a place I felt was comfortably my level.

Now I have face stomp after face stomp with no idication of why and no real feedback. I'm not sure why I'm still playing but I can safely say that SBMM doesn't work at least not for me. Most fun I had tonight was killing the bots in the tutorial.

Until this gets fixed I think that'l be my game from now on hop on kill the tutorial bots and log off.

Keep in mind, whenever people mourn something in the game being 'dead' due to changes, it usually means people are unwilling to actually develop skills with that something

The same could be said for people who constantly scream for nerfs...

It wasn't that hard to play against spirit but she couldn't be looped in the typical braindead manner that most player want all games to go so scream for nerfs.

Is she ruined probably not but its a win for cry baby whiners not the game as a whole sadly.

  • The only thing overperforming with respect to spirit was cry baby sore loser-ism.

What made her great was how unpredictable she could be. Telegraphing her power will now just result in the same run around the same rock 6 times BS that every other killer has to deal with.

    Bummer.

I hope they don't crush her to much.

  • @Underdawg said:

TLDR; There is no point in being so sweaty, caring about having high MMR, or trying to "win" every trial.

A lot of people don't like the new SBMM system. As best as I can tell, people are caught in some endless cycle of sweat. Survivors gen rush because they think the Killer will tunnel them out of the game as soon as possible. Survivors bring the strongest perks to combat this. Killers tunnel and play mercilessly because they feel like the game will immediately slip through their fingers if they don't. They bring the strongest slowdown/insurance perks to help them. People are using their strongest builds. Both sides cry that the other side is too sweaty. Both sides are right.

Here's the rub: This isn't a problem of Behavior's creation. We did this. We convinced ourselves that “efficiency” was the goal of the game. How many times have the Killer mains on this forum said that tunneling is the most efficient way to “win” a match? How many times have Survivor mains complained about their teammates “not doing gens”? What did we expect? Behavior didn't explicitly state a “win” condition, so we went about creating one. 4K or 3K and hatch as Killer. Escape at all costs as survivor. “Don't bring that perk, it isn't efficient!” we told ourselves.

With the old rank system, we had shiny badges “I'm a red rank, what rank are you bro?”. As far as I can tell, there are people who want to be told how MMR is measured simply because they need a shiny badge as validation. Tangible evidence on how good they are at this game; in some ways a symbol of superiority. But that doesn't exist anymore. (Coincidentally, I see a trend in using “hours played” as replacement for this – despite the fact that time spent doing something is not an accurate measurement of actual skill in doing said thing. While there is a correlation between how long you do something and how skilled you are at it, it's not 1:1. Some people pick things up faster. Some people plateau quicker)

So seeing as the new grade system is mainly a measure of how much time you've been playing in a month, and our MMR is hidden from us, what exactly is the motivation to sweat? What is the motivation to attain high MMR?

“I like to win. I play games to win.”

Fair enough. But if the only way you get enjoyment out of this game is winning every match (or having a high win rate), then I genuinely feel sorry for you. I don't mean that in a condescending manner at all! I feel sorry for you because it seems that the Dev don't want anyone to have a high “win” rate. They want you to average somewhere around 2k or a 50% escape rate. I imagine that must be frustrating to be told that you're only going to have your definition of fun 50% of the time – but understand that this misery is of mainly of your own creation.

Any time I'm playing killer and a SWF squad gen rushes and leaves in 5 minutes, I shrug it off and think to myself “Enjoy the games against Spirit/Nurses/Blights”. Anytime a killer tunnels me out of the game, and destroys the rest of my teammates before we've even done 2 gens, I shrug it off and think to myself “Enjoy the SWF sweat squads”.

You want to “win” every match? That's fine. Eventually you'll be put against people who feel the same way – and play in the same “efficient” manner. You can't eat your cake and have it too. If you play sweaty, or have played sweaty enough in the past to earn high MMR then this is the new reality for you. If you want to play chill, then play chill. Stop caring so much about “winning”. When you “lose” a match, you don't actually “lose” anything. There is no actual tangible reward to having high MMR!

There are a lot of things about this game that Behavior should be (and hopefully are) working on fixing. Our individual attitudes and competitive nature are not on that list.

So what do you do if you are sweating hard just to get 2 hooks and 0 kills. You'd expect SBMM to rank you down appropriately but that's not happening for me. Every game I get destroyed with all gens done after 1-3 chases and maybe 2-3 hooks.

So after 10 games of this I get 1 game where I can get 2-3k and then its another run of 10 games of getting destroyed. Its not about 4k's or "winning" its about having a good game of horror survival where the likelyhood of getting killed is high so the tension is high. You can't have 1 game in 10 where that happens and feel motivated to keep playing.

So you switch to survivor but then you sit all game on a gen and then walk out the door because the killer only interacts with part of the team spending the whole game just trying to catch that one other survivor.

DBD is now loopy sweat tag and its kinda tedious to play. I haven't had a good nail biter hook exchange game since SBMM was brought in.

Also you are exhibiting this behaviour too with the negative rationalizing of "enjoy your x killers", "enjoy your SWF seat squads". Now whatever you need to do to keep yourself in a good head space go ahead and do it, but a game shouldn't make you feel like you have to do that if its actually fun.

  • Don't bother, a reply like this screams I either didn't read or can't comprehend what was said but I'll say something about it anyway. Its just foolish trolling.

it doesn't mean 2 kills 2 escapes every game, but rather 1 game you win, 1 game you lose. An average of 2k can also mean five games 4k of the killer, then five games 0k of the killer. Dbd is designed in a way so that most matches are clear wins/ stompings from one side, the close ones with 2k/2e are actually pretty rare

Win and lose are undefined at the moment. There has been plenty of talk about average 50% escape representing a balanced game design which kind of flies in the face of the theme is my point.

  • Maybe you're just not that good at the game. (ITs a hard pill to swallow but seriously its not that hard to run circles around a killer at the moment).

I'm not happy with the SBMM at the moment but its because the so called fairer matches have been anything but. Even after getting routinely destroyed I'm still not getting "easier" or "less sweaty games".

I'm not that good but SBMM doesn't seem to reflect that even after two weeks of solid game time.

  • @Rescultir said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/281512/does-sbmmr-rating-ever-go-down

What I started doing is win 1 game and throw 2, it's more enjoyable and less of a headache. It does go down but only if you let the survivors do the gens and escape without killing anyone but I am not sure how long it takes. I had to sit in the basement for 6 games to lower my MMR so if you are looking for more chill games, try this.

I was hoping to avoid having to waste a bunch of games just to get one fun one, also with how games have been going I've racked up a bunch of only 1-2 hook streaks with no real change.

Going afk to lower mmr doesn't seem necessary after that or if it truely is lowering that slowly I'll need to throw games for a week just to get one good one. Who could be bothered.

  • @VicThor said:

I'm pretty much agree with you. Most of the time I get destroyed and I get sweaty games. I tried to play with Huntress on PS4 (I barely play her) and I got sweaty survivors.

It seems like the skill of the survivors I get really depends on the part of the day, I play. While we had the rank system I got the more challenging survivors during the day. Since the MMR went live I get sweaty survivors during evening time.

I can only win, if I tunnel or if I bring a specific map which is beneficial for that particular killer. E.g Impossible skill check doctor on an indoor map.

I was really hoping that slowly I can move away from the meta build, but even now with meta build I can barely kill 2 people.

Btw how did you get the playing time stats on ps4?

Didn't they say they wanted games balanced around 2 kills and two escapes?

Which seems nuts to me because who wants a survival horror where 50% of the game is destined to escape by design. The play seems to represent this too...

When I play survivor I often don't even interact with the killer as they are hard tunneling two other survivors because if they don't we'll all get out, so you get 1-2K and 2-3 escapes aparently that's balance.

When playing killer I sweat like a beast to get close to a kill or two or I just have to meme around and accept that there is no threat to the other players at all from me.

Its almost as if matches are now designed that only 50% of players intereact for the game and you can choose to play it an dprobably die on hook or not to play it and just sit on gens till you walk out the door. Its an odd design and not much fun.

You are not able to lose grades, so it is always Brutal.

And yes you can lose rating. Faster game is, more you lose / gain (depends on kills).

Problem is that it seems to work in a way of avarage of survivors MMR compare to Killers MMR. So you can get few really good survivors, which willl be balanced by one bad survivor (weak link).

Your job is to find that weak link.

Thing is that new killers don't know that well how to determine good / bad survivor and often commit when they are not supposed to do it.

I'm well versed in finding that weak link... Sadly I don't seem to have that weak link in my games. I used to rely heavily on it to get at least one kill but at the moment that one happy potato that made games playable is often abscent.

Sadly when they are present they are hard tunneled into oblivion because I can't even touch anyone else so this guy is my one kill. Its probably just as unfun for them as it is for me but if you want to get more than 5k blood points its a necessary evil.

Something has gone seriously wrong with this game.

My survivor experience is the complete opposite, either you get chased by the killer all game then camped in the endgame (who can blame them) or you hold m1 on a gen all game and never see them, because they either fail to catch anyone or they camp that one kill because its all they have. Just pump out the gens and walk out the door.

There is no scare factor anymore just boredom (survivor) or frustration (killer). I miss when the killer felt scary even when they didn't have 1000 hours under their belt.

  • I miss this so much, killers used to be scary and you could die at any moment, those days are gone.

  • I currently sweat for two hits, not kills two hits and nothing has changed so the "why don't you just lose" point doesn't seem to mean ######### at the moment.

I want to know if the SBMM does down at all. Last game as trapper I caught one person in a trap, they immediately escaped, I hit two others and then just stood in a corner dropping traps for the 100 points because after 2 hits and one failed trap grab there was only one gen left. There was just no point even bothering after that.

This resulted in Brutal Killer. The only thing brutal about that was how invincible the survivors were.

Its game after game of this and still no change. I'm not being matched where I should be and consistently losing at 0 kills and often 0 hooks doesn't seem to change that at all.

They should change "killer" title to "chaser" and game title to "survive by daylight." Nobody's dieing by my hand anytime soon.

We had texas chainsaw massacre now its just scooby doo.

  • With the new MMR NOED is the only thing getting me any worthwhile kills.

1st hook 3 gens gone, second hook 1 gen left. 1 of 3 things happens...

Camp that hook, noed procs get 1-2k from it.

Camp that hook survivors stop doing gens and all run around uselessly trying to taunt and flashlight click because they seem very agitated by the camping, they never finish the gen and all die or 1 hatch.

Highly coordinated team gets the unhook using BT, body blocking and good teamwork last gen pops and I maybe get a 1k from NOED before its cleansed the rest escape.

This is my new game experience and frankly none of it is much fun.

If they ever nerf NOED that will be the end of my DBD game, unless the bring in a solo mode against bots.

  • Honestly no its not good.

It seems great if you are a survivor, as you often have competent team mates, but you have to understand that a really good team can destroy most killers.

Mistakes on the survivor side are far more forgivable than mistakes on the killer side, often it took that one potato to balance the game out. Without mr potato killer games are all or nothing sweat fests.

Its a shame because last time they ran the matchmaking test, I had great games. They felt really close and fun to play.

This time so far every game is the same... as killer I sweat like a beast to get 1-2 hooks and often end up camping and tunneling 1 person just for the single kill because nothing else works. On survivor I have competent team mates and we can smash out the gens and usually all escape, bar the one guy whom got camped and tunneled that game.

The queue times have gotten huge too, which blows as I'm waiting extra time for such lackluster games. The number of survivors really rubbing in the face of killers every game has been terrible. I'm disgusted by my opponents and my team mates.

So no I don't think any of it has been good if this is how its meant to work.

Look at all the survivor posts saying "we have competent team mates and win its great". I don't find that fun because why would I play a survival horror game where my survival is all but guaranteed. Nothing more dull than a lackluster antagonist who is no threat.

  • It comes down to assuming malicious intent. Seems like the reaction from people is that the other side is intentionally trying to ruin their game when often that isn't the case.

People who troll and bully in this game are usually fairly obvious about it and often it involves play outside of the usual. A team of survivors not touching gens just baiting the killer into repeated locker stuns and blinds, killers downing everyone and then dancing around while they bleed out etc.

Between the 9th and 10th (after the night of the 8th being close and fair matches), my Myers has been against survivors where, match after match for 20-30 matches, I an sweating my balls off just for 1 or 2 hooks in a match.

And in no time during all that did it adjust my MMR lower. It was like it boosted my MMR after the balanced matches that I won on the 8th (and they were all very, very close games as they should have been) to put me into an MMR where I can't even manage hooks in a match. And has left me there to rot.

The system isn't adjusting me back downward at all. And if, from my 20-30 matches of my arse getting absolutely steamrolled, it doesn't understand that I am not of the MMR level, I'm not inclined to keep playing and chewing glass for it to eventually (maybe) finally figure it out.

And I'm sure as hell not doing this on my entire killer roster.

I haven't logged in since Friday night. I gave up.

That's my experience too. Even with 1 hook and very little success multiple games in a row, there doesn't seem to be any kind of down correction. I just keep getting the same hardcore matchups over and over. Its almost as if its over estimating the high end of play meaning even one hit or hook is insanely valuable to boosting your MMR.

I've had the same experience when switching out to killers I never or rarely play. Once again the match ups are highly coordinated teams that absolutely destroy me where I get 1 - 2 hooks at best.

My survivor experience follows the same trend I get highly coordinated team mates who play well and even if the killer does well 1on 1 we still destroy them and all escape because enough gets done during chases that they just don't have a chance to counter the whole team.

Its getting to a point where a lot of games end in just someone gets face camped from 3 gens onward or the killer just stares at a corner afk then opens the gates for us.

Either way its doesn't seem like much fun for anyone, except a few survivors who like to rub it in the faces of killers in the endgame chat. Which is starting to tire me out no matter what side I'm playing.

It takes more time than that to accumulate data, and find where you belong, and where everyone else belongs in relation to you. Everybody was starting from zero, and not starting at the same time. If it takes everything into consideration, including maps and killers that the survivors have gone against, it could take a while before it can establish where everyone belongs.

From a very simplistic standpoint, we can look at flipping a coin. If you flip a coin, you could flip tails 10 times in a row. Would we then assume that the coin has a 100% chance to come up tails? No. More data, and testing is needed. Ten more time, 9 tails, one head. Still more data needed. It is only as we approach extremely high numbers that we can get an accurate establishment of 50/50. Now imagine a much more complex system with a lot more factors that they have to work from, and compare it to others with equally as many factors. It is going to take time.

They are not going to tell us what parameters it is using, but I would assume that it would be based on chase times, and whether you win the chase, hits, downs, hooks. Ideally it would also consider maps, and perks used, though I doubt perks will be a factor. Obviously, it will factor in the killer you are using. But, it also factors the survivor stats. They could have a lot of bad games in a row because they were paired with potato survivors. Or they could be really good, but did not start playing on the day the new system was implemented, so they have a lower score, or they have just not played that many games in that time. It's not going to magically work out in just a few days.

Oh god the condescension is palpable. I know how data works I work with it every day in massive amounts, mansplaining +10.

Your coin example states nothing relevant other than its takes a lot of data to make predictions, yeah obviously.

If SBMM works as it should what you should see, are spikes and dips in game experience over multiple games rather than consistent poor match ups. Its obviously matching poorly but its over estimating one end of that poor match up. I'm curious what it keys of of because it seems to be doing a poor job self correcting. Even after a week of solid play.
