Somewhere along the line, a fundamental shift happened at BHVR. There used to be a rule that no phobias could be introduced into the game—which is why The Clown initially had gas grenades/military theme. But the most recent killer is the Houndmaster, and I have friends in real life that are seriously TERRIFIED of dogs more than someone could ever be scared of spiders.

It would be REALLY cool if a Spider killer had an ability to cocoon survivors like the Cage of Corruption, but instead of the survivor teleporting across the map, they would be teleported to the spider nest in the basement. The reason this could work is if the killer can only jump from object to object with a web — and when areas have been mapped — they can use the web to move around areas quickly like Houndmaster's Search trail.

honestly idk if this is a hot take or not, but in a horror game where your darkest nightmares come true that you have to face, i think it'd be time to man up and face your phobia because all it is is just another killer design. im terrified of clowns and i absolutely HATE going against clown (not even just bc of bottles) but i know that him being in the game is for the best. his design is HELLA cool and so is his lore, so if there ever is a spider killer, i'd be so excited to see the design and lore the devs come up with.

  • hopefully just big adjustments to make his playstyle and abilities up-to-date. he doesn't at all need a new power or ability, just big enough adjustments that make him feel rewarding, lore accurate, and overall just try to aim at his early game capabilities.

an example being the stalking penalty he receives from stalking far away. that, makes no sense to his lore/character in the movies, so just switch around how the stalk penalty works. currently, he receives a stalking rate penalty when stalking players from far away. so, swap it and make it so he receives a penalty when stalking too close to a survivor, but builds it very fast whenever hes stalking from far away. obviously tweak the numbers if that happens, but i believe it'll feel better since it'll be easier to 99% tier 3 on unsuspecting survivors.

another big thing would be to force survivor's stalk limit to deteriorate overtime. a big thing michael suffers sometimes is if he manages to fully stalk all survivors til their red, he legit is unable to use tier 3 until the match is over. dont get me wrong, its genuinely pretty rare for this to happen, but just because its rare doesn't mean it doesn't suck when it happens.

also buff tier 1 a bit, at the very least just his movement speed (to 4.4) and his lunge (to 0.25 or 0.3). tier 1 just makes him feel sluggish, so making it feel a bit faster overall will definitely improve the experience.

(also lastly, remove tombstone piece and replace it with a new addon. its overpowered and nobody likes using it besides the person playing myers.)

So how do you want them to make her better? They cant buff her condemn because then she becomes way to oppressive and its Dead by Sadako again. Imo they made her as balanced as it gets.

And SURELY shes better now than Sadako 1.0

how do you make her better? simple.

either reduce her lullaby from 24m to 16m, or just outright remove her lullaby. the lullaby ruins the aspect of her being a stealth killer, why can sadako do exactly what wraith can do but wraith does it 2x better? also just fully revert the locking condemn by hooking back to how it was in the PTB, it was just fine and needed no nerfs.

  • @DavidByDaylight said:

There would be no fix for that anymore. The devs already said they can not fix it and they gave up.

now where did they say that they cant fix it LMFAO

On survivor and killer side alike, which category of perks should we focus on buffing the most?

    Chase perks? Info perks? Ect.

You can get into specific perks if you'd like.

Not focusing on nerfs here, just buffs. That's another topic.

uhm, honestly, i have no clue. if the adrenaline changes go through, then i'd like to see its speed boost duration be raised from 3 seconds back to 5. for killer, i wouldn't call it a buff but i would like to have the bloodpoint bonus on BBQ & chili back on the perk. it promoted hooking multiple survivors and benefited it too.

Run the perks that minimise the problems.

There is a lot of doom and gloom when solo q is mentioned here I see a lot of comments saying that nerfing or buffing (insert perk here) would kill Solo Qs or that there is nothing you can do about (insert problem here) in solo Q and I'm not going to say there are not problems but the best thing you can do is work with said problems and minimise them because the nature of solo q means you will be inefficient killers will get ran past you on gens, you won't reset efficiently with your team, you will 3 gen more often.

A lot of players think after a couple hundred or thousand hours they suddenly are past the time perks like bond and deja vu should be run because they assume their teammates shouldn't make mistakes and should be able to account for them being on XYZ gen or pay attention to the gen spread and get the unsafe gens done first etc but that is going to happen at times and you should play not assuming all the players you get will be worse than you but equally not all the players you get will be a good as you and you should pick your perks with that in mind.

I know I'm tooting my own horn in this paragraph but it does emphasize the point I'm making. I have played a lot of DBD and this is the best advice I could think to give players that I would not have given 1000 hours ago. I used to think because I am a High MMR player who used to see strong streamers in my game before they could hide their names I was above these "trash" perks. I was wrong and honestly worse at the game because of my ego. (which I have retained if this paragraph is anything to go by)

The point is you should run perks like Bond, Empathy, Deja Vu, Open-handed, and Kindred. If you want to see every pallet drop on the map running Any Means Necessary just for its aura effect also is not a bad idea. Just because a perk is not meta does not mean it's not useful when you cannot communicate with your team.

This may sound harsh but humour me. If you are the type of player to dismiss a perk as "trash" because it is not top-tier and it won't help you in close games against strong players but have an issue with the majority of your games being rough drop your ego. Just sticking bond in the middle of a meta build can make the solo q experience all the better.

This may seem like a lecture of a post but I was an idiot and had less fun and more frustrating games because of it. Don't be me.

solo Q sucks solely because of the MMR system and, still, the lack of information. yes, the information we have now is miles better than what we had before, but doesn't mean it should still sit where its at and never be touched again. in order for solo q to feel better without affecting SWF'S you have to; tighten MMR, allow for all conspicuous actions to show a progression bar on the survivor hud icons (I.x. healing, totem cleansing, killer power, etc.), make some perks basekit like kindred and 'Wake Up!', and that might possibly be it if im being honest.

when it comes to making both perks basekit, i would mean allowing survivors to see each other's aura's globally when someone is hooked, and for wake up just implement the exit gate aura reading when the gates are powered and remove it from the perk. it wouldn't add clutter either.

In the current patch, Medical File crouch movement speed is 3.96m/s which is barely slower than survivors running. After the update (and if they don't change the addon because of her buffed basekit), Medical File crouch movement speed will be 4.18m/s.

the point is is that the movement buff won't do much to help at all, they should've just buffed it to 4.0m/s and then reduced the effect/rework the effect of johns medical files.

my reply to that other person was me stating that the crouch speed buff will not achieve anything as she is still slower than the nurse.

  • @LordGlint said:

They boosted her crouch movement speed so... crouching everywhere ain't that bad. Ambush can also be used mid chase and not just for stealth hits. That's the part I'm looking forward to... being able to use it at pallet loops.

she still moves slower than the nurse when crouching, she is not going ANYWHERE. at least the medical file addon makes you move at 4.0m/s which is the same speed as a survivor right?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/434

    My humble opinion in short.

Cheap buff on demo, i hoped for some addon tweak or portal replacement after limit or something more than 1 line.

Dont understand Huntress buffs how a popular and strong killer got such buffs? (Look at poor demodoggo).

Clown care of pinky finger with extra bottles. Hope its adjusted.

    Rest seems fine on paper.

funny how i was essentially right with the nerf pig prediction. its a curse, she cant receive 1 buff without getting hard nerfs after. losing the box auras and increasing the trap timer reduces her amount of pressure she can put on trapped survivors, and the timer nerf just makes tampered timer more of a necessity. love the stealth/ambush changes though, but their not big enough to warrant a nerf to her traps. honestly id rather lose the box auras and have the trap timer be reduced to 2 minutes (from 2.5) so she cant pressure trapped survivors as hard, but the survivors will HAVE to go get it off.

its a worthy trade off, but im not surprised the devs never thought of it.

  • @BubMickey07 said:

Playing killer is in a really good spot right now but survivor... well

Survivor is starting too go downhill FAST, like dead hard got nerfed (which imo was needed but still) selfcare got NERFED into the ground which still makes absolutely no sense to me like.. you want survivors doing other things then gens yet take self healing out so now they pretty much have nothing else too do so now THEY'RE gonna do more gens but not only that but they nerfed medkits too then they nerfed toolboxs and CoH (which also was needed) and now with the alan wake chapter the perks are really useless for older players like for new players could be p good don't get me wrong but another chapter with no really good perks for survivor yet killers are getting banger perks after banger perks it's crazy.

I know killers don't have it the best either right now (*cough* *cough* onryo) but they still have it alot better rn.

And obviously not everyone is going to agree with me but I wanted to make this discussion too see if others agree with me.

theres really only a few things that will make solo Q be SO much better to play. those things are..

    • The survivor HUD displaying the progress of each action a survivor is doing. meaning that if someone's cleansing a totem, theres a little bar around the circle icon showing the progress (like when someone's working on a generator).
    • Making Kindred basekit. at the very least just make it so if somebody is hooked, everybody is able to see everyone's aura. being able to see the killers aura may be a bit overtuned, unless its reduced to either 8 or 12 meters.
    • Whenever the Exit Gates are powered, survivors are able to see the aura of exit gates in a range of 128 meters (basically making 'Wake Up!' partially basekit).
    • Allow survivors to see each others perks. whether it be on like a little drop down menu or something.
    • Remove the ability for killers to see prestige levels until after a game is over, and make it so killers can't open steam profiles until after a game is over.
    • Buff DS to remove the timer, but if somebody is hooked, disable the perk until its able to be activated again, it still deactivates upon conspicuous actions. maybe even increase the duration of the stun from 3 to 4 or 5 seconds.

doing these would genuinely be beneficial for solo Q while not making SWF's even more of an annoyance.

In the updated roadmap, Pig is one of the killers (along with hag, huntress, demo, clown and doctor) who is scheculed to receive tweaks in the March-April stage.

I know "nerf Pig" is a meme at this point, but could she conceivably be nerfed again? I'm betting against a straight up nerf, but (like Sadako) I can't shake the feeling she will get tiny buffs that are overcompensated for by massively nerfing the other aspects of her kit.

Am I wrong? Talk me off the ledge...

    im here from the future..

shes def getting nerfed. a lot of people don't like playing against pig, mainly because of the way her traps work and how scummy the pig player can turn the traps into. if she gets changes, i REALLY hope its some sort of rework. what kind of rework? a rework to her traps while buffing her stealth and crouch. her crouch is SO SLOW and ghost face's crouch is like, 1000x better than pig could ever dream of. she needs a reduction in the duration of her terror radius fade-out while going into crouch, increase the speed of crouch to maybe 100% or 105% base movement speed (4.0m/s or 4.2), and reduce the time it takes to enter crouch.

no idea how traps could be reworked, but it should be better for both sides.

For me I certainly have when they announced sadako getting nerfed, I know she’s getting adjusted due to the feedback, but that still doesn’t make me excited either way and just hoped she’d stay what she was from the ptb

i lost all excitement when they decided to nerf sadako. they really chose to nerf her when EVERYBODY giving feedback everywhere said she felt better, balanced, and some even said she was still weak. but nah, they saw 1 person in the dark void of dbd reddit say "new sadako too strong!!" and decided to nerf her based on that.

its going to SUCK playing her when the patch releases, but i guess it'll only stay for a couple weeks i suppose.

I don't understand why everyone is crying at tunneling and camping guys, it's not serious. I understand it's not pleasant, but nevertheless it's the mechanics of the game. Many hunters when I asked them "why they are tunneling" they said "because you are genrushing me". This is the main reason for both camping and tunneling! Tell me how often do you get camped and tunneled on 5 generators? And now it's the same for 3 or 2?

genrushing isn't healthy either. both sides should feel like they have a chance against each other, but with tunneling & camping along with genrushing makes it unfair for both sides. but then again, there could be multiple reasons why each side does it. the killer could tunnel/camp you because you were toxic, and survivors could be genrushing you because you suck at keeping gen pressure.

We already have that with her matchbox add-on and if you've ever gone against a nurse using that I don't need to explain why it's a stupidly miserable experience

She'd be extremely weak in the macro/overall game but stupidly miserable ti go against, in this case quite literally there's nothing you can do

First, happy new year everyone :)

Second, I main nurse, I really really like to play this killer even is this is broken.

This killer was design for destroy infinite loop at the time that survivor were op (pallet vaccum, no entity vault blocker etc, 4x mores pallets, no medium vault times)

So, now .... This killer destroy the movement mecanics and even the " map ", I don't ask for nerf the basekit, or nerf the addons, I ask for an complete rework. This killer is not just " op " or " broken ", her basekit is an problem due of the current game mecanics, and of the chase mecanics themselves.

if what your saying is accurate, and that’s what they believe. then why not try something like..

remove the ability to teleport through walls, jungle gyms, all that (maybe not pallets, but that’s debatable). but increase her base movement speed, increase her blink speeds increase her blink charges, etc! that way she uses it as map mobility so she has better gen pressure but isn’t so terrorizing for survivors who learned how to loop. plus c she can use it to gain speed on survivors too.

There have been some discussions recently regarding the horror aspect (or lack of one) in Dead by Daylight. And whenever one of those discussions pops up, the maps are also mentioned.

And for good reason! The maps are the very heart of the horror atmosphere. And when that heart stops beating well... we look at you, reworked Coldwind Farm.

With the Realm Beyond close to claiming its final victim, I believe it is time we discuss the possibility of the old maps coming back to the game. And I'll make something very clear for those of you who enjoy the map reworks:

I am not asking for them to be removed.

Remember that I lost my favorite killer. I am heavily against taking away the things people cherish.

But I don't think the situation is okay for players like me, who loved those old maps. Or perhaps new players who wished they could play on those maps. Right now you click on an Old DBD video, you immediately feel saudade (translated from Portuguese, "saudade" refers to an emotional state of melancholic or profoundly nostalgic longing for a beloved yet absent something or someone), but when you go play DBD your favorite map isn't there anymore.

And I want to change that.

There are many ways to bring the old maps back, some easier than others. I haven't thought of a definitive solution yet, but I did think of some options: perhaps BHVR can add a "classic mode", since we've recently saw their ideas for alternate game modes. It could go as far as to add old powers / perks and add-ons, but that is just a suggestion.

Or perhaps a "classic pack". We know for a fact the game supports people playing on the same map with different lighting, as modders literally did that. They could add the option for us to choose between old and new maps, just making it clear you might put yourself in a disadvantage by doing so. I certainly wouldn't mind.

Or just say "screw it" and add them into the regular rotation. That also works, I suppose.

As long as we don't take away anything that people enjoy, I see no harm in giving us the game we loved back.

We just need to find a way of doing so.

all they need to do is bring back the old darkness & fog to all the reworked maps.

I have to do that sabotage a hook within 10 meters of a killer. I already hate because I don't know what 10 meters in game is so I decided go to The Game a two floor map so simple. I'm forced to play SoloQ because I don't have friends who play the game. So in the end the game screws me over because it gives me a challenge that's annoying to do and I have to deal with the worst matchmaking in existence of the game.

yeah i had to do this challenge and it took me so long i stopped had to take a 2-4 day break from the game because of how frustrating it was. i literally had to throw matches just to get it done, it was ridiculous and i felt bad for my teammates.

DS going back to a 5s stun, or at least have the timer pause when your being chased.

also let skill checks not instantly explode the moment we let go, that’d be nice. it really be nice because if we have to get off a gen because of the killer coming, a skill check can’t just appear and destroy 10% of your progress, you’d have to actually finish the skill check

I really like the game, it's entertaining. It's mostly the only game I play. However lately I've noticed that I have passed from spending 3-4 hours per day to at most 1-2 matches and then switching to literally anything else because the game makes me bored...

Is it a me problem, or the lack of variety in gameplay is actually making the game boring to play?

dbd (like any other game) makes you feel bored after so many hours you've played on it. dbd's case can be seen as worse though, as the game is VERY very repetitive as theres nothing else to do besides the only goal to win which is either escape or kill everybody. also pair that up with the balance team's slowed response to actual issues, like how they would rather nerf the pig every chance they got while taking up to 2-3 years to actually rework DS, debatably, into a much stronger state. take a look at twins even, devs said 2 YEARS AGO that their reworking the twins, and its been 2 years. i've seen overwatch devs be MUCH faster at reworking a character and their balance team gets crapped on a lot.

in all honesty? it only gets boring if you keep playing it everyday. it took me until 2.3k hours for me to realize i need a break from the game because it just wasn't bringing me any fun anymore. then, when i took a 6-12 month break, i came back when the 6.1.0 patch released and i ultimately was having the most fun i've ever had in the game. it felt super refreshing, and the game felt better balanced as survivors weren't as cheesy anymore and killers felt nice (even as a survivor main, i believe the nerfs were deserved. i got bored from survivor because the amount of power they had over the killer was too OP and it felt super boring being able to not really having challenges in matches).

you should take a break OP, i believe even this one dbd CC (scott or something) stated that he took a year long break to play this new game i think it was skyrim or something, and when he returned back, he actually felt like the game was fun again and he was actually playing the game when he wasn't streaming either!

everybody needs a break from their favorite game at some point, so take a long break OP.

  • it’s about vaults, female survivors hsve the same vault distance as a normal medium vault (even when preforming a fast vault). it feels awful to play so i’ve been playing quentin for awhile now because male survivors aren’t bugged

Since they added base kit bt, and the little speed boost, after unhook. The unhooked survivir tends to block fo their savior who is usually full health. I know some people dont like that fact and I di think its a bit odd and an unintended consequence of attemting antitunneling mechanics. The only issue, which isn't really an issue as it tends to lead to free wins, that arises is if a unhooked survivor gets in my way I just end up eating the endurance then downing them again. Some of the people have complained about tunneling but at that point you're asking for it if you're impeading my path to my only other known target. Thoughts?

bodyblocking at that moment, is reasonable to tunnel. i wonder what would happen if instead of basekit BT they just gave the haste effect & no collision

Many people have been complaining about SM's rework so far, saying "wow, she went from a boring, busted killer to being utter trash."

I played the PTB SM for more than five minutes, so I can say with a little confidence that her rework is absolutely fine, she needs some QOL changes and tuning regarding her power cooldown, but here's the deal.

New SM allows you to actually be a chase killer now, because that's precisely what she's meant to be. Claw Traps are objectively better now than what they used to be, and they allow you not only to close the gap in chases (with the hinder and the Deep Wound mechanic countering things like Dead Hard and OTR), meaning you can reliably snowball as opposed to putting four drones on gens and the Claw Trap being a mild annoyance to survivors.

Will she be strong? No, but that's OK. Although I did prefer if they kept the stealth in Active Drone areas idea, that was fun for mindgames. Otherwise? Great job, BHVR. You made a buffable Killer. 👍️

honestly yeah, she just really needs some buffs and QoL changes in order to feel good to play. maybe like increasing the undetectable duration, make hindered apply on the third detection instead of fourth (so remove fourth entirely) so its more impactful in chases, make drones in stealth mode not show ANYTHING remotely close to a radius until they scan a survivor, and more

So, the last few weeks I havent won a single game as Killer. None. 0 kills, 3 hooks a game is what Im averaging.

Usually by the time I get my first down, within the first two minutes of the game, two or three gens pop one after another.

Im not the best killer in the world, but it feels like no matter what Killer I am using, from Pinhead to Xenomorph, Trapper to Deathslinger. Anyone. I cant. Get. A. Kill.

Ive tried tunneling, but there's so many instances of Endurance now thay it feels pointless to me.

My General build is Deadlock, Jolt, Save the Best for Last, Scourge Hook Floods of rage.

I thought I had plenty of slowdown, but Gens just fly left and right with all this. I have no idea what Im doing wrong, cause I think im decent in chase and in looping. Ive gotten use to the floodlight that comes out of my face for some stupid ######### reason, and hide it before trying to hit but nothing. I get stunned, blinded, flash banged, etc etc etc constantly.

At this point it feels like playing Killer is just a fancy word for playinf Victim. I have no control or power its all in the Survivors hands now. They have can have 16 different perks to go against my 4 and most of them are just speed buffs to everything they do. And its just...demoralizing.

Its to the point when I pick Killer my first thought is, "guess its time to keep losing".

Then I play Survivor and I have a 75% escape average. Like, what? Im not even afraid of the killer, its more my team mates im scared of cause if they ######### up I lose.

At this point im ready to hang up the killer mantle for good and never look at them cause I dont like feeling like im loading into a game to be bullied and harrased by 4 people who are vastly more powerful then my supposedly supernatural killing machine.

    literal skill issue

Yes, you can... perhaps. At least in the GameUserSettings.ini file (C:\Users \*your username/\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config\WindowsClient) there is an item called Aim Assist, you can disable aim assist by changing the value true to false, but this is not accurate.

But if I'm not mistaken, the file path is different for egs, but I don't remember it, but I think you can easily find out

so auto-aim is basically just aim assist?

First of all, the intention of this post is to explore and gain insights into this phenomenon that I am interested in. I ask you to share your experiences and give constructive feedback. Please be respectful to everyone <3

So, as we all are aware, I'm sure, female survivors in DBD are not just more popular than male survivors, but much more popular. I know that this is not a phenomenon exclusive to DBD, it exists in many other games as well. However, with this post I would like to gain an understanding on why that is so in DBD specifically. Cosmetics play a big role in this, so I would like us to take them into consideration, as well.

As far as I can think, these are the reasons that people might be preferring either male or female survivors:

    • who they can identify with, relate to, or connect with better
    • who they find more attractive, and therefore want to see on the screen
    • who has more interesting (beautiful, quirky, etc.) cosmetics available, as well as more cosmetics in the sense of quantity
    • who has gameplay advantage - in this case it's the female survivors, due to them being shorter and therefore having better potential for stealth, evading the killer, and (flashlight) saves on their teammates

Based on my experience of watching streamers, as well as other people I'm acquainted with, it seems that a person's gender identity and romantic/sexual interests don't play a major role in this, since any group of people tends to play as female characters.

I am a gay guy, and prefer playing as male characters, because I can both relate to them better, and also prefer seeing them on the screen. However it seems that most gay men prefer playing as female characters. This is what confuses me.

I would like to ask you readers, to give your perspective and understandings on this, on why female characters are that more popular than male ones. Both female and male characters are awesome and deserve love and popularity. And in order for me to able to promote male characters more, and accentuate their value, I need to understand what is causing this disproportional pick rate.

Thank you for reading! I hope that we can have a really nice discussion on this.

personally, its because female survivors don't take up 50% of my screen just because im playing them. male survivors are so ginormous its crazy, and i also prefer the movement animations of the female survivors too.

I wish BHVR added soon the Finisher Mori system. It would be a nice to end matches quickly.

Another thing the could add - this FAR MORE controverse - its a 30s basekit Corrupt Intervention. This way, killer could have a better start of match and be less reliant on mobility powers and RNG

i would absolutely adore this as an M1 killer main

I can't be the only one who's noticed Xeno's tail being a lot less consistent then it was on release, right? I've had so many different cases of the tail going RIGHT THROUGH a survivor and somehow not counting as a hit

I'm mostly making this post to stir up a bit of noise about this since I'm not seeing a lot of people talking about it, but Xeno's tail just feels really off at the minute for no real reason

Is it bugged? Was the hitbox changed? Either way, revert whatever the hell you did to it please and thank you

its a hitbox issue yes, i saw it in action. instead of the hitbox being active the moment the button is pressed, it only is able to actually hit a survivor or turret like 0.35 seconds after you smack something. its VERY VERY bugged and weird right now

In all fairness, they do. As someone who is getting more into killer, please hear me out.

Survivors have the same Bloodweb, Survivors are just skins. Killer mains who play multiple killers have to make more difficult decisions on who to invest in.

I propose no changes to the cost of Green, Purple nor Pink add-ons. I do want to see Brown and Yellow add-ons reduced to save the killer some BP and make it hurt less having to spend BP on garbage just to get to what you want in the Bloodweb.

Before anyone yells at me, I mostly play Survivor during the day because of matchmaking incentives and it's more fun. I play about 3 or 4 killer games a day at night.

    when in reality…

    • survivors need every single one of their BP point category increased by at least 25-30% (I.x. a good skill check grants 62.5 or 65 points up from 50 going based off the 25-30% increase i suggested).
    • globally all brown offerings should be reduced in BP cost from 2k to 1000. if anything, rarity’s should score from.

    Brown: 1000 (originally 2000)

    Yellow: 2000 (originally 2500)

    Green: 3000 (originally 3250)

    Purple: 4000

    Pink: 5000

and make the Auto Bloodweb available without needing to prestige.

BP grinding is very high, and making the prices of things such as BP and making the auto bloodweb available without needing to prestige will help tremendously. killers don’t solely need to have a reduction in add on costs.

Why do people think turning matchmaking into a hostage negotiation would fix matchmaking

In 7 years ive never seen this happen, now all of a sudden i cant play all weekend cuz im getting stalked by randos before i can even try to join a lobby.

are you PC and on steam? i remeber back in 2020, one of my teammates talked bad about me in end game chat and i was able to go to their profile and join their lobby via steam profile. the issue you have may possibly be because your joins are toggled publically and that lets anybody join your game.

  • hello! let’s learn a quick lesson today!

    you cannot possibly have great match making quality but fast queue times, it is impossible in this current day of age. it’s always either quality over quantity OR quantity over quality, and simply put;

quality over quantity: you receive the blessing of being paired up with players of your own rank, but at the cost of having long queue times scoring up to 5+ minutes.

quantity over quality: you receive the blessing of fast queue times scoring from 5+ seconds, but at the cost of having terrible or incredible players in the lobby you’re in.

its always gonna have to be 1 or the other, because the match maker would probably break if they tried to do both. that’s why games such as overwatch can’t do both. people love fast queue times, and that’s why many would rather have better queue times then an actual quality match. however i prefer quality over quantity and i don’t mind waiting 1+ minutes just to find a match if it means i’m being paired up with players of my own skill level.

the matchmaker tries its hardest with what goal it’s been given, it can’t make everybody happy, but only time will tell if the gaming industry can have both fast queue times and great quality matches.

    the title says it all.

for more context, i'm a survivor main, but mainly only because of this reason: i'm scared to ######### up as a killer more than as a survivor...why? most of the time, it's those bully-swfs that make me feel like this the most. the feeling of disappointment after losing is just...real. how do i stop feeling like this? don't get me wrong, i actually enjoy playing the role of a killer but it's always the survivors that "scare" me most of the time.

usually i am but its moreso what the otherside will talk to me like. i was playing sadako (no iri tape fyi) and i got garden of joy, i sunk in my chair bc its GoJ but i just decided to play it. i got 1 condemn kill, i had good gen pressure, and i TP'd and this jake had 7 stacks. i chased him for 2 minutes because everywhere he turned, there was a pallet. i LITERALLY looked at the last loop he went to and there was what you would call, a dobule pallet loop. THAT was when i was honestly irritated to the point i dc'd because sadako's chase potential is terrible, but i dc'd after looking at that loop and it just felt miserable to play on that map so i wanted to just get out of it as i was already having a very iffy day.

when i dc'd, i thought it would be a good conversation starter saying "screw. that. map." to the only 2 PC players as i thought they would relate and or say "i know right that map sucks" but no, they just told me i sucked at the game and i was so terrible i dc'd. they kept complaining to me constantly and i was sitting in my chair like "guys it is seriously not that serious when a killer dc's" and not just that, i literally complimented the jake that i chased because hes a very good chaser, but i just hated that map. the double pallet loop is what broke me, and they just thought i dc'd because i couldnt catch the jake. thats why i made that "garden of joy needs to be killswitched" post on here, because the map is severely unbalanced with insane god loops and literal infinite loops. it is by far the worst map in this game.

them talking bad about me and them being sour really killed my mood to play the game and my mood to play killer.

I mean, no more facecamp (rip bubba, my tactic tactical is nerfed !), skull merchant, finally ... playable :) ?

    I don't know what's next, but ... that's really really good

it needs to hurry the hell up because i cant wait any more. i REALLY hope this is the "fun update" because i want to play laurie again, but the vaults feel so terrible and i hate running resilience. face camping hopefully becoming less common will help solo Q tremendously, and the SM rework will help a ton funwise, and i really hope some perks are looked at like MFT, just hopefully make the game more fun because it is by FAR the most BORING it has ever been for both sides because of bad teammates in solo Q along with tunneling, and for killers the amount of sweaty MFT survivors is insane especially for M1 killers.

i just rlly hope they make the game more fun. maybe increasing the base gen regress speed from 0.25c/s to possibly 0.3c/s because it takes 360 seconds to fully regress a generator and that honestly is way too long, and base gen regression is too low. they also need to help Solo Q by making kindred basekit, and also allowing players to see the auras of exit gates when the last generator is completed. it would help SO much and it frees up a perk slot (i hate using kindred, but its necessary for solo Q).

TDLR: Sadako is less fun to play. Chase playstyle has been nerfed because Reiko's watch was nerfed, new TV and tape mechanics make it so Sadako can projects less to areas of interest and apply less condemn, meaning the only way to take advantage of a survivor holding a tape is to basically tunnel them. Her addon pass has also left things to be desired with little change to her addon viability and variety. Furthermore, condemn is as much of an issue as before, oppressive with the right build and near negligible otherwise.

So, some background, I loved playing Sadako before her rework, she was simple, fun, and she felt rewarding to play. I planned on getting her to p100 after I p100'd David. Of course she wasn't the strongest killer by any means, but she was fun to play. This difficulty is part of what made her fun to me. And whether a combination of the meta or her reworked power, I just haven't been having as much fun as I used to on her.

First, the nerf to reiko's watch makes playing chase Sadako a lot harder. I know the change only effectively reduced post-manifestation invis by a fraction of a second, but I can feel it hard. It was actually a huge nerf. I used to be able to mindgame even shack with it. And now, virtually every loop with the exception of filler loops are harder to mindgame and get hits at. It's almost not even worth running anymore. It kinda sucks when an addon that encourages chasing, the part of the gameplay everyone actually likes, is nerfed and thus incentivizes less engaging playstyles.

Second, in a similar vein, her add on pass left things to be desired. Her addons prior to the rework were average, Sadako only having a select number of them be viable, and some having niche synergy with certain perks, but that is typical. The only things changed were things nerfed, and things that had to be changed because they no longer fit her current power mechanics. There was a buff to distorted photo to reveal aura, but after some playtesting, its value is still few and far between. Tape editing deck enables that pseudo-tunneling right at the beginning, telephone is unchanged and a boring if somewhat effective addon, and VCR only really has practical use with DMS. Mother's comb again enables pseudo tunneling for the condemn kill. Bloody fingernail remains unchanged, though a decent effect regardless. Rickety pinwheel, plus sea soaked cloth as they both inflict a status if within a power TV, are nerfed thanks to survivors taking tapes more often. Ring drawing's nerf I let slide, it was needed. Clump of hair and Yoichi's fishing net will come into play very rarely. [Though, i like the idea of Yoichi's fishing net, condemn inflicting a status once a threshold is reached, the execution just fell short. 4 stacks is a bit hard to reach with how easy it is to keep condemn low, all for the weakest negative status in the game.] Well stone and cabin sign reduce TV cooldowns, which is fine, neither here nor there but paling in comparison to other addons. Mother's mirror's effect is more of a meme addon than videotape copy. Any player who has put in a minimal amount of time into Sadako will find it useless. Old newspaper has thankfully went unnerfed. Iri video tape is still very good, and remote control was nerfed, to the point where it is never really considered for any build like it was before. So, the only really viable add ons are iri tape, (nerfed and debatably is no longer viable) reiko's watch, old newspaper, (nerfed but rightfully so) ring drawing, bloody fingernail, and the one new addition to viable sadako addons: mother's comb. So effectively, there was one fair nerf, one questionable nerf, and one arguably unhealthy addition to the roster of viable addons.

Third, TVs. Pre-rework TVs had longer cooldown across the board, meaning you needed to be smart with projecting. Survivors could shut down TVs, but the cooldown was significantly lower than TV projection cooldown. Survivors could deny you a pat of your power, but the penalty wasn't as great as using it. There was strategy to taking tapes. You could guarantee denying a projection during a crucial time, but know that the TV would be online sooner, or let her project, turn off the TV longer, and have a team mate or yourself return to the TV knowing it will be off for longer. There was nuance to it. Now, a survivor can just mindlessly take a tape from anywhere and return it anywhere to deny two TVs of their choosing while also denying projection to those TVs longer. Current projection TV cooldown with reworked condemn just incentives projecting mindlessly, which is hardly fun or skillful even though it is strong. There's no reason for the whole team to just take tapes and either hold them or turn off other TVs. And the only way you can capitalize off that is if you basically tunnel someone, which :/ She's easier and more clear-cut to counter, which just makes her weaker than before too. And with survivors doing TVs more, you have a vital part of your power a lot less, and the slowdown from it isn't even anything noticeable because tapes can be dropped off at any TV, even one that's like 16 meters away, that's only 4-8 slowdown, if at all. It's nothing compared to wesker or nemesis who require survivors to go out of their way for vaccines, or pig who now has consistent slowdown with her traps. 3 genning is more incentivized with projection being nerfed due to new tape mechanics. She won't have the map pressure to not have to resort to one if she can't use her projection to where she wants if survivors take tapes, which they will. The cooldown on projection only adds onto this woe. 10 seconds is actually not that bad, I'll give it that, but it is a restriction none the less.

Lastly condemn. Condemn is tricky, i'll concede that. An instant kill is something you have to tread carefully with. Pre-rework, it was on the weaker side, relying on certain addons and a certain, unfun playstyle to even get it. At first upon the new changes, it seemed to strong. And now that people have adjusted, it is too weak. New Tape mechanics are simply too forgiving. The main draw of new Sadako was that condemn should be occurring more frequently. And now that survivors had adjusted, that isn't the case anymore, unless you focus a survivor, which isn't all too different than pre-rework Sadako with a condemn build. So, if anything, condemn also feels both stronger and weaker than before. Though, this is also in part to things like chemical trap, made for this, and hope's uptick in usage to pair with it, and buckle up that make it more difficult to down a condemned survivor despite Sadako's ability to ignore body blocking.

So overall, Sadako's rework has disappointed me, just as I thought it would when I first read the ptb patch notes for it. She's stronger than before, and weaker as well. (Though mostly weaker unlike the killers who will be mentioned next.) It aligns with newer killer powers, knight has his oppressive guards, but if they're not available for whatever reason, he's just a standard m1 killer. Singularity has his powerful biopods and slipstream, but is just your standard m1 killer if an emp is used. Xenomorph has an oppressive tail attack, a smaller TR and an unusual and low movement stance, but once knocked out of runner mode with a turret, is just an m1 killer. Sadako, like them, feels like she either has a power or no power at all. Invisibility is nerfed with reiko's watch, and is hardly enough to be a competent part of a power without it. Sadako can project more often than before, but it feels like she's actually projecting less thanks to new Tape mechanics. With indirectly weaker invis and less access to projecting to exactly where she wants, Sadako is still mostly just your standard m1 killer, just a bit harder to spot and a smaller TR.

I know Sadako was hardly what any one would consider a popular killer, so most probably don't care about how it feels to play her now compared to then. Which is fair. Not every killer is gonna have a sizable playerbase. So, I know I'm part of a small group of people that cares about this. So, if you are someone that cares and sees this, what do you think? Has Sadako's rework satisfied you? I'd like to hear how it has or hasn't. And if it hasn't, maybe we all can work together to change Sadako into something more fun.

i, as many other sadako mains, spoke out immediately after reading the PTB patch notes. even OPW spoke out, even if he changed his mind later on. the rework shifted her power from being lore accurate to being not accurate at all and just made her become a HUGE pubstomper for new players, and is just VERY weak against good players. the only good change that came out of this was the TV cooldown buffs, she ALWAYS needed the cooldown buffs because it literally punished you for using your power. the tapes are not at all cursed and are instead just a protection shield for survivors to use, instead of placing a literal curse on the survivor. before her rework, the cursed tapes actually were movie accurate to sadako as a character as it takes 7 days to make you condemned for sadako. the current sadako is nowhere NEAR that.

all sadako needed pre-rework was the current TV cooldowns, basekit iri tape (A nerfed version of it, maybe 2 TVs turn on after 5s of hitting a survivor post projectioning), her lullaby should be removed, post projection movement is increased by 25% but bloody nails is nerfed to 25% to compensate (would still be the old 50% numberwise), and reikos watch & old newspaper should both be basekit but reikos watch should be a 50% basekit instead of the current 33%. also make the black outline on the HUD show up after 30 seconds of the match starting, unless you have telephone equipped.

literally this was all she needed, she took skill and all the rework did was dumb her gameplay down into being a mindless TV spammer. before the rework she had to actually THINK about where to teleport to, and she felt very fun to play if you knew how to use her properly & effectively. the rework only feels good if your against bad players.

I mean it is more balanced than Tombstone piece however still the fact you can Mori people from the start is just overpowered. You can also remove the downside with PWYF stacks and still move faster than 115% Killers.

if you can mori people from the start then thats the survivors being VERY bad or just giving you the achievement for free. now if you replace Judith's Tombstone with Tombstone Piece then we'd have an agreement.
