I try to grab totems whenever I spot one and am not near the killer. I feel that their speed is good, they don't seem problematic to me. I don't think I've ever played a game in which I found all of the totems but that's fine, that's part of the unpredictability to me.
I don't think that the problem is needing more incentive to do totems (though if they gave like 50,000 BP for one or something players would obviously go out of their way to rush them), I think the problem is that most players just don't care to look for them or are too focused on gens when they see one.

Not many say spirit is fine
No, this is correct. What was meant by my comment was "Wraith is fine. He's just like Spirit now so that's perfectly okay". It was a hyperbolic rendition of the (equally hyperbolic) things that Wraith's defenders say about him. He's fine. He's only barely playable. He's still C tier. It's okay that they buffed him too much because he used to be the worst killer in the game. Survivors are only angry because now they can't "bully" him anymore. Survivors are only angry because they're not good. Survivors are just complaining because they can't stand it whenever a killer gets any buffs whatsoever.
Basically just a stream of denial with absolutely no effort to try to find a middle ground and understand why the other side finds him not only boring but also frustrating and cheap. "Nah, he's fine". What a cogent argument. I'm not targeting the person who said the same thing just a bit ago, I'm speaking about the fact that this is something I've seen said about Wraith dozens of times now.
Thus, though it was lost in the way I phrased it, my complaint was basically "Hey, it's perfectly alright that this guy is now basically Spirit 2.0. Hardly any tells, can zoom up on you while invisible and get free hits, guarantees pretty much the same match every time you play him, etc. But that's okay. He's fine".

Many killer mains on this forum, including me, agree that Spirit needs a nerf in the form of counterplay. Even though hit & run Wraith is boring to go against, you can still win against them.
If most of the people here think Wraith is fine (excluding his All-Seeing Blood add-on), you should probably consider that it's a 'you' problem.
Most of the killer mains seem to think he's fine. Most of the survivors don't seem to agree, as suggested by the nearly daily threads about the subject. If I'm not the only person who recognizes that Wraith is a problem (which even some of his own fans have forced themselves to admit) then I don't consider it a "me" problem.

Hawkins is still in play saloon is disabled because of an actual infinite no idea why gideon is
I think I heard about Saloon being disabled way back when they were still teasing Pinhead. Seems like it's been a while. I guess maybe we'll get it back when he leaves PTB (unless he already has, I haven't played in a couple of days now). Gideon is weird, they celebrated Jigsaw for a week and then suddenly the map was turned off (after people claimed that the map frequency was increased to coincide with the Saw sales). I can hardly keep track anymore.

I've played versus bubbas that revved the chainsaw at 5 gens at a hooked survivor and only ended up getting the one. The ones that sit by the hook are usually bad.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2463912#Comment_2463912
If you can't hear the very loud growling and the shimmers in the distance then I don't know what to say! Sometimes survivors will get sacrificed, that happens! Oh no! It's a lame playstyle but do the gens and you'll escape. Again, I only see these types of bad killers around rank reset time. Good ones may or may not proxy camp/tunnel, but they still struggle versus good players.
His growling isn't particularly loud unless he's close enough to get a hit and his vague shimmer is easily obfuscated by countless obstacles and walls. I don't know any Wraith player who just runs in a straight line toward his opponent from 300 yards away.
Besides which, this is about camping. Many Wraith players love to hook someone, go invisible (which they can do silently now) and just go ten feet away around the nearest corner to camp a hook without anyone knowing that they're there.
-
Wraith is cheap and everyone knows it. Killer mains just don't like Killers being nerfed for any reason ever. If a character has all the abilities in the world (invisibility, incredible speed, near-total silence, a fast power lunge) it will still always be the survivor's fault for not always carrying a flashlight, always running Spine Chill, and not having portable windows and proper loops in their pockets to use against him whenever he appears out of nowhere for his free hit.
In other words "he's fine". Just like Spirit. "He's fine". "He's fine". "He's fine". "He's fine". C-tier at best. Git bettur.
-
I've been told that Saloon and Gideon's are currently disabled. They've been that way for weeks, I'd love to know what the problem is and when we're getting them back. Hawkins is supposedly still in play but I sure never get it.

You need teammates that utilize borrowed time and are willing to protect you. Very rarely do you meet killers that are quick at ending chases and sit by the hook.

I DEEPLY hope for an offline bot mode. I never quite thought that they promised one, I think that they worded things in an unfortunate way that always left me uncomfortable with how much wiggle room they left. Something along the lines of "yeah, we'll give you a way to practice with bots, something to do while waiting for a game", that kind of thing. I don't know all the timing details but that suggests to me that they very well may have just been talking about the tutorial.
I don't understand how the damn MOBILE version of the game has a bot mode - apparently they can handle it - but PC and the major consoles don't. Especially given all the performance issues, disconnection problems, etc. This would be a great time to usher in a more fleshed-out bot mode. It's my most desired feature in this entire game and I continue to hold out hope, though that hope may very well be in vain.

I haven't gotten Hawkins or RPD in like two straight weeks. It's getting on my nerves.
I also deeply miss The Game. It's my favorite map for both sides.

I'm not really sure of a way to directly communicate with someone on this forum other than by doing so in a discussion like this or by posting on each other's wall and then just replying to that same comment and making a thread that way. Let me know if you'd like to do that as it's the only way I can think of to not hijack someone's topic!
I can see what you mean about seeing both sides to your original issue. The intent to upset anyone wasn't there and it sounds like you were discussing something comical and perhaps even interesting (in the way that any ridiculous joke-theory is) but that the mere presence of the offensive word was the problem. And that it seemed like you were trying to circumvent the chat filter which I know is something that the mods look for around here. Either way it sounds like a case of no harm, no foul, and the fact that the ban was temporary seems to me like they were understanding of the situation but had to act within the set rules of moderation.
I'm sure a lot of us are glad to have you back! 😊
That's so funny that the outfit I suggested was the one you like. It really is one of the best outfits in the entire game because of how normal and adorable it is. A loose and low ponytail, a red sweater with a little locket necklace, a backpack, the entire upper portion of the outfit is so nicely colored and designed. It really does just scream 'college girl' / 'girl-next-door'. I'm not a huge fan of the legs namely because of the shoe choice with it but I'm such a nit picker when it comes to this kind of thing. The smallest details make or break outfits for me to a point of it being kind of obnoxious and I recognize that. Haha.
I really wish that the devs would add a preview option where you can pair unpurchased pieces together to see a whole outfit because I think that Meg has some fantastic choices that I'd love to see together. But I've not wanted to buy them just to possibly hate the outfit combo. What is your default or go-to outfit combination for her?
Having all of the Survivors to 20 is a good accomplishment! You're halfway there! The last 10 levels always feels like such a grind when it's for a character who you don't love and just want to get the teachables for. I have all of the Survivors to rank 40 except for Tapp and Ash (who I won't buy and whose perks I don't want) and Jane (whose single perk I wanted I got from the 4 perk market, I'm forgetting what they call it). Everyone else is up there. Kate is P3 and has every perk T3'd and I'm working on getting Nea to that point. She's P3 and about 3/4 done with perks. Then it's Felix's turn - he's P3 and just waiting to be cranked up to level 50 and perked out. I too wish that Kate could catch my favor again but I just don't see it happening without another rework which isn't going to happen.
Until then my fingers are crossed for a new Survivor to catch my interest. As for playing together, yeah! If I remember right I did search for you before and the only thing I found was your old Playstation account. I think we were having trouble figuring out how to add someone cross-platform if memory serves me correctly. I'm on Playstation until they one day add the ability to shift your account to another platform.
That's actually a good idea, feel free to leave a message on my wall and I'll respond to you there. Best to let the thread have the freedom to breathe. :P

First, don't beat yourself up. No one "wins" every game. It's the nature of DBD. Sometimes you'll have what you consider to be great success, sometimes you'll have what you consider to be frustrating failure. It's the "any given Sunday" rule. No one is ever guaranteed the win. Anything can happen to any player, anytime.
Secondly, while I'm nowhere near red rank as killer (good lord, I don't even want to be), this perspective may still help you: Killer is the harder role. I main, and prefer, survivor, but sometimes I love a good killer game and sometimes I'm great at it. But every time I play as killer, no matter how good a streak I may be on, I still go into every match with some tension. There are so many ways that survivors can outplay you, capitalize on your mistakes, work together to scum you, etc., that it really does up the pressure of "winning". As killer, ALL decisions are magnified, every action is highlighted, you are THE center of attention. That will, in my opinion, always make things a little more emotional. The wins are more satisfying, the losses are more upsetting.
But at the end of the day, it's just a game. There's always another match. Your luck will always swing back and forth. Try to remember that above all else, you're playing this game to have fun, and whenever you have a loss just try to train yourself to think "bummer, but there's always another chance".

Naming and shaming is a rule that I understand because some people will abuse it. A lot of people abuse a lot of things having to do with this game.
Hacking is worse, but I still understand the rule. It's sort of tough to find a balance between discussing bad behavior and trying to warn people about hackers, especially since actual hacking isn't always clear. I'm of the opinion that if someone were clearly hacking, as in a player had overwhelming evidence (such as a video someone posted a few weeks ago in which Ghostface could fly and throw hatchets) then players should be able to have some way of knowing who that person is so they can avoid him, but again - where do you draw the line? Who's to say what constitutes "overwhelming"?
That's why I understand that the naming rule, while broad and a little oppressive in a way, is also kind of necessary. I don't always agree with it but I do understand and respect it. I think we, as players, could just benefit from having more than only BHVR's somewhat complicated and time-consuming report system (which provides no feedback regarding consequences) to discuss the bad guys.

I'm straight but I wear the charm as a show of support. Well, sometimes anyway. I tend to rotate the charms I use from time to time since I have so many.
I wonder what makes this game more attractive to the LGBT community than a lot of other games? I've actually seen articles written that have noticed it. Is there a larger than usual LGBT audience for horror in general, or is it something about this game itself?

I have come to the conclusion the problem isn't even with the game. It's how toxic the community is and nothing being done about it. I just got told to kill myself 3 games in a row, even a game I gave the last survivor hatch.
The problem isn't even the community. It's humans in general.

The saloon is still disabled. And yeah I agree, it is more noticeable since I dislike the maps, but as killer this week I think I have gotten Autohaven and MacMillan both once or twice, but I know for a fact I have seen both Midwich and Hawkins at least 5 times since Monday. Honestly it is ridiculous and makes me wanna play people like Clown so I can't get screwed over by map choice. The map selection has made killer genuinely unfun to play this past week and more often than not I found myself getting frustrated just upon loading into the game knowing the headache that would ensue. There definitely needs to be a system in place like you said. I feel like I don't see half of the maps anymore unless an offering is used.
To be fair it's not my original idea but when someone mentioned it it made perfect sense and I've been championing it since. There are something like 36 maps in this game with more than 20 of them just being slight variants of the same realm. So, basically, we've got about 15 or 16 realms (or thereabouts). I have no idea why they can't set the rotation to go through each realm once, and only once, before restarting the shuffle. It's incredibly lame that the people who hate Hawkins or Midwich have to play through it several times a day. It's incredibly lame that people who are tired of Macmillan or Coldwind have to go through 7 of their ten variants before something else shows up. This is definitely something that I wish they'd address.

I've noticed most of my games on Hawkins have been for killers who aren't great on that map when playing survivor. It is usually a Trapper (no cover for traps) a Huntress (too many walls) or a Deathslinger (same as Huntress)
I've also noticed that the character I choose sometimes seems to change the rotation. Again, it could be confirmation bias, but if I'm noticing changes when I play as a different character, that suggests to me that SOMETHING may be up.
If someone has the time and inclination - and I may do this myself at some point - it would be interesting to play ten matches each using a series of different characters and see if there's any pattern. Of course ten matches is a very small sample, but if for example Hawkins only shows up for someone like Huntress, as you said, whereas Macmillan keeps showing up for Doctor, like me, it might be worth some conversation. I don't want to get conspiratorial or anything but I've had the "map rotation sucks" conversation several times before and it always turns out that the maps that one person keeps getting and the maps that the other person is never getting. I mean look at us, same thing. I WANT Hawkins. I WANT Lery's. I WANT Midwich. I WANT The Game. Is it a coincidence then that I get a combination of maybe two of any of them over the course of ten hours of gameplay?
Gamedozer7 said that he feels that there's map priority based on who you choose and to be honest I think that there's a very strong chance that this is true.

XD
In all seriousness though this is disappointing to hear. Doctor is my killer main and I don't want to make other players needlessly suffer. I still get somewhat frequent disconnects when I use him, I guess that might be why.
-
"Allow me to explain".
Dude, not even slightly necessary. I was with you right from the title alone. I love this game - I truly genuinely love it, despite its issues - but the map "rotation" or whatever they choose to call it is absolutely abysmal. I don't see any rotation at all. What I see is an utterly random shuffling that heavily favors a handful of the same maps. I don't see any kind of system in place that ensures that every map will get a run before the cycle shuffles again. I don't see anything in place that balances the weight of a realm that has 1 unique map as opposed to a realm that has 5 nearly identical ones. A few months ago I was getting so annoyed with getting the same 5-6 maps all day that I literally thought it was a bug and contacted BHVR about it. They said that they'd look into it but that at that time the maps were set to be randomized. I'm sorry but if I set my music playlist to random and it keeps playing the same ten songs out of fifty, either it's not random or it's broken.
Strangely I've noticed that the clump of maps that people get seem to differ from person to person. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people saying that kept getting maps that I hadn't seen all week, and vice versa. And it also seems to change. There was a while when I was getting Coldwind NONSTOP. Then last week or so it was Macmillan after Macmillan after Macmillan. Now it seems like it's nothing but Macmillan, Ormond, Coldwind, Yamaoka and Crotus. It's been at lest 2 weeks or more since I've seen Hawkins, The Game (to be fair I hear that this one is still disabled for no explained reason), Dead Dawg, or RCPD.
I know that there's a bit of placebo / confirmation bias to this. I understand that maps that people hate will stand out more, and maps that people love will feel underused. But there's legit truth to the fact that these maps are NOT evenly spaced as they should be, absolutely 100 percent NOT given the same equal chance to appear (and, again, given that some maps are unique and some are needlessly repeated five times over, they shouldn't be - every REALM should have an exactly equal chance of spawning a map, and those realms should then NOT show up again until all the other realms have had the chance to spawn a map of theirs as well. THEN it should cycle back around. I don't know what the system is now, but that isn't it.
-
It's not random. Wraith got a buff a couple of months ago that made him very cheap to face off against. Many killer mains or people who like him will casually dismiss any complaints about him and basically say variants of "he's fine, you just need to play better" but the character takes little no to skill to be incredibly effective at getting free hits and / or kills now. More and more people are realizing that and trying to talk about it, even if the argument is the same cycle of wheel-spinning every time he's brought up. "Wraith is cheap and frustrating". "No he isn't". Repeat until the next Wraith thread.

For Kate, it was her lore. She was the first survivor who escaped the Entity when it first tried to take her. Plus, who doesn't love a songbird.
For the Plague, she's easily the most tragic killer Behavior ever created. And its nearly impossible to not get value out of her power
Good picks, both are just behind the top of my own list.
-
Deathslinger and Huntress don't slow down the game though do they? I mean unless there's something inherent to the animation or graphical effect that is shared by Nemesis and Pinhead's powers I don't know why one would have the same performance hit as the other.
-
I'm a survivor main who also plays killer at about a 3:1 ratio. As someone who has long tired of the argument that "XYZ is survivor sided, please delete it", I have to say that I don't know man, Haddonfield's pretty rough for killers.

I don't want to derail this post with too much off topic back-and-forth - this forum really needs a chat or private message option!
But I'm glad that your post was just a matter of context and that your ban was lifted. And that you're still playing DbD! The offer to team up still stands if you ever find a way to play with a PS user!
Red hair on just about anyone is my weakness ( I just posted about Nurse being the 'hottest' Killer in a thread recently because of her red haired opera outfit, actually) so I totally understood your frustration about Meg's cosmetics. Thankfully they did her justice and left her hair color alone. The fortune teller outfit, huh? Well it's as bright as ever! I have always wished they'd tone that one down myself and make it a more natural red because it's one of the only longer hair options in the game. But I can see the cherry/fire red appeal and why people like it.
Ugh, I don't even want to talk about how much money I've spent on Kate. I keep hoping that they are going to rework their rework due to the demand for it but I know that's wishful thinking and that Kate just is the way she is now. Which makes me feel like I've wasted all of that money. What's unfortunate is that I still love Kate's backstory/personality the best so... It is what it is! If you ever get the option to buy Flower in the Dark I highly recommend that outfit as the head and torso (a thick ponytail and a red sweater with a backpack) really work with a lot of her cosmetics. I think Rift content usually comes to the store 6ish months after being in the Rift so it should be up for grabs any day now.
I'm working on Felix right now too, he's P3 and I'm trying to get a handful of my favorite perks on him. I'll probably alternate between Felix and Nea (Nea the most since she has some edgelord emo fashion that speaks to my long-lost, past high school self 😅) and will keep my fingers crossed that one of the new Survivors really speaks to me to become my true main. Or that Kate returns to a closer image of her original self.
I know what you mean. I can understand how catching up with someone and swapping stories and opinions could be seen as derailing a thread but at the same time I'm not currently aware of any way to have more direct discussions here. Maybe the mods could point us in a direction? Don't know.
Oh, nothing's going to make me stop playing DBD. When I first got the ban (which I won't go into too much detail as I know this is discouraged) I was a little upset because I felt that my intentions hadn't been taken into consideration - in short, I used the "F" slur but in a way that was actually quoting a comedy sketch by Scott Thompson, a gay performer that I find very funny. The sketch was about examining the word one letter at a time and finally concluding that one specific letter is responsible for making the word offensive, so by dropping that letter all gay people could now joyfully celebrate having apparently defeated the slur. I found it ridiculous to the point of being hilarious. In explaining this, I quoted the specific word which now had one less letter, and by doing so it appeared that I was trying to use the full slur AND evade the censor filter. That wasn't my intention but it looked as if it might have been, and as the mod politely explained to me that context didn't make a difference, I still used 95 percent of a slur that shouldn't ever be used here. I got that, and I consider it a lesson learned. Scott Thompson is a legitimately very funny guy, and his work on the show in question (The Kids in the Hall) is among the best, and I was trying to impart that - but didn't go about doing it in the correct manner.
Anyway while my initial reaction was one of "wow, they really don't seem to like me over there", I eventually understood their position and accepted the punishment without taking it personally. Since I was still playing and loving the game, and since I'd lost out on the chance to talk about so much (the entire 5th anniversary!) I knew that I wanted to come back and catch up with some of my friends here. There's always a lot to talk about, though I do generally try to avoid the "killer / survivor bad" stuff because it's dull and repetitive to me. There's so much more to talk about.
Like the Fortune Teller outfit! I have to admit, as a straight male, I find Meg's midriff to be absolutely perfect, and she's got the greatest dimples of Venus ever, and both are prominently on display in that outfit. But it's not just that, the pieces work so well with so many other variants. And while I do understand that her longer hair would be nice as a more neutral red, the sheer cherry richness of it makes it one of my most used of her hairstyles. I mean she's got it all - braids, ponytails, caps, deep red hair, copper orange hair, cornrows, she rocks it all! Flower in the Dark? If I recall correctly that's actually the exact outfit I was referring to when I said that there's one I'm really waiting for for Kate. I saw a picture and fell in love immediately, she's adorable in that outfit and it does look like it's got great mix and match possibilities. I keep watching to see it show up. I must have just missed it before getting the game.
Nea's cool, she's got a good theme and character. And I really do hope that maybe something can eventually be done to make you love Kate again. Felix is handsome as hell and I like a few of his perks. During the 5th anniversary I brought almost all my survivors and killers to at least level 20 so none of them need a WHOLE lot of work to start getting some of my preferred perks. He's down my list a bit but I'll be working on him soon. There are only a few characters I really don't care much to build up anytime soon. I'm also stuck being unable to prestige because I still have cakes.
Hey, speaking of which, I'd forgotten that you suggested we team up. Sure, anytime! Look for miketheratguy, same as I am here. That's what I'm known as everywhere. You may find my very old 360 profile, you can obviously ignore that. I'm playing this on the PC.

No, I'm white, and grew up around other white people who think it's okay to use the n-slur. Claudette is genuinely the reason I got myself out of that mindset.
As for what I think of Adam and Tapp, I think they're cool characters. I don't see myself maining them- I don't think they look that great, I don't like their lore and voice acting, and they don't really have great cosmetics imho, but I can totally see why people like them, and if you do like them, feel completely free!
Ah I see, sorry for the misunderstanding. I try to remain open-minded and allow others to feel whatever negative feelings about a person or persons that they may for whatever reason happen to feel, but generally speaking it's a positive thing to get away from that kind of crap. Good of you to be adult enough to admit that you were kind of held back by that stuff and found your way through it.
Claudette's a generally solid character in this game, honestly one of the best in my opinion, her perks are just not as strong as they could be. They're all useful, just a little "soft". I like Tapp because I like Danny Glover and love Saw (and maybe it's just me but I think they made his off-duty detective outfit resemble the actor more) and am looking forward to buffing him up. Adam is just...ugh. Again, the guy has a cool look but it's gonna be a drag getting him up to snuff. I mean...the pebble perk. The PEBBLE PERK!

Claudette: I was an edgy kid and the only reason I started playing her was because she was black. :/
Then I got attached to her while becoming less edgy and racist. :D
Now I actually really like her lore and character design, and the graphical updates were a massive plus to her IMHO.
David: I wanna lick ice cream off his abs.
Freddy: Old Freddy was really fun for me to play, even if I didn't play him in the optimal way and actually used double blocks just so I could chase people quicker. I just liked his style.
New Freddy: Despite reaching rank 1 I was garbage and he was easy to play so I stuck with him till I got goof at regular M1 killer things, got bored of him and Pyramid Head came out.
Wraith: First character I prestiged, first killer I ever played, he's low-key cute.
Pyramid Head: I think this clip speaks more than I can.
If it's alright to ask (it's implied so I hope it is), are you yourself black? If so what do you think of Adam and Tapp? I'm going to be working on Tapp soon but Adam, as cool as he looks has some of the worst perks in the entire game. Anytime I play with anyone I know I point out the "pebble perk" and we all point at him and laugh.
-
My first main was Dwight, and in his case it was perks. Bond is my favorite perk in the game, and Prove Thyself is good too. Claudette came next - she's not OP but her perks are all good, they form a really solid theme that's true to the character. But Meg will always be my "main". She's always going to be the character that I love the most because I just fell in love with her appearance, her great cosmetics, her simple but effective (and kind of creepily realistic) story, and her similarly well-themed and complementary perks. She and Kate are my beautiful all-stars.
Killer took me a lot longer, much more experimentation. I liked Huntress, I loved Plague. But once I gave Doctor a shot - despite thinking that I'd fail hard due to his (misleading) "difficult" rating - I was done. I love Doc's story, his look, his aesthetic, the fact that he wants nothing more than to cause pain and suffering for no good reason, and his great powers. Doc is the man. He's the first killer I ever became comfortable with to the point that, while I'm not an expert, I regularly get kills and get compliments about how well I play with him. It's gonna take a long time before I main another killer, even though I have most of them.
-
I am 100 percent in favor of the option to have a fully customizable bot match. I'm not just in favor of it, I would absolutely love it. I mean LOVE it. Sometimes I want to play this game without dealing with other people. Sometimes I want to play this game at a more relaxed pace. Sometimes I want to play this game without any regard to how my actions are affecting anyone else. Sometimes I want to play this game when queue times are way too long. Sometimes I want to play this game without worrying about hackers, toxic people or getting maps or killers that I hate. And sometimes I want to just experiment with different perks or killers without being totally at the mercy of four other people that know what they're doing.
You guys at BHVR have legitimately done a good job of making the bots in the tutorial play surprisingly like the real thing. Please, just expand the mode so that we can tweak things to our liking in single-player custom matches. I would be thrilled beyond belief to have such a thing.

What about Barb?

Not usually, no, but when someone is REALLY asking for it (pallet save, flashlight, teabag) then yeah, I seethe and can't WAIT to kill that #########.

They put the absolute “most sought after” (in their mind) behind the auric cell paywall. Like Oni’s Minotaur skin.
A trash recolor skin will usually be purchasable via shards.
I try not to be cynical about this kind of stuff but yeah, that's basically the impression I've had to maintain until someone from the company explains otherwise. It usually seems like "the more unique and / or complex, the more likely it's going to require real money".
-
Is there any rhyme or reason that dictates which cosmetics can be bought with shards (in-game money) as opposed to cells (cash money)? Are the pricing decisions arbitrary or is there a pattern that explains why some can be bought with both and some can only be bought with cells?

As long as the survivors have the option to do gens and avoid you, you're not doing anything wrong. Once the EGC starts there's no such thing as holding the game hostage.

These types are all the same.....Don't have the gutz/ballz to do these things irl so they try to act hard over the internet. They would not do the ######### to my face so responses like GG, LOL, 😂🤣, are all you need to respond with.
I've actually found that toying with the people who try to bother me in chat is both fun and kind of therapeutic. If someone says "GG EZ try harder next time loser" (or something to that effect) I might say something like "I know something you don't know I know" just to mess with their head. Or if someone is angry that I didn't perform to their standards as a survivor, something like "Nice job hiding all match", I might throw some random irrelevant quote at them like "Be mindful of staring too long into the abyss, lest the abyss stare also into you" and then skip right along into the next game. If someone calls me lame or a poor player or whatever I might even just say something nonsensical like "Rows? There are seven. How often do you fall for it?" just to completely throw them off. They'll be thinking about it for the next hour.
Try it sometime. Anonymous badmouthers want one reaction: Anger. You'd be surprised how easy it is to frustrate them by going completely sideways and saying something that makes them have to question what you're talking about.

I initially thought that EGC generally meant the end of the match but I came to find pretty quickly that it's actually one of the most pivotal moments. As both survivor and killer I've seen massive changes once the last gen is finished or even when the doors have been opened so no, I no longer look at the last gen as being the end of the game. It's the beginning of the final stretch, the last chance for everyone's final play.

Yeah, I could see how he'd be annoying, especially if going against survivors who haven't mastered looping. That's also why I suggested in my rework to debuff his cloaked movement from 6m/s to 5.6m/s
I haven't, which I admit definitely plays a part in my difficulty with him, but I think that overall he just has too many abilities that complement each other too well. Tone him down a little, balance him out a bit, I think he'd be in a good spot. Right now I just think that everything he has is a bit much.

Yes, I get where you're coming from. Wraith was upon a time the weakest killer in the game.
I guess it's just hard for me to imagine him as especially terrible. I get that the general sentiment is that if a killer's powers are not directly harmful then many people consider them to be "worthless M1 killers" but I don't know, I just don't see how someone with his abilities could ever have been perceived as bad, let alone "the worst". Not that I don't believe your opinion, I've seen others say the same.
I just don't like him as he is now. Invisibility, super speed, survivor finder, silence, AND a mega-lunge? That's just way too much to me. I wouldn't mind all that crap if it were balanced better.

Yes. :P

May be true for Hag, but that's Wraith's entire ability lol. He has no chase power
You're the person I was just discussing this with in the other thread, aren't you? :)

Wraith and Hag? Interesting. One sec
The common thread I find between the three is that they have too much ability to be on you without sufficient warning or counterplay. That's how I feel, anyway.
That's the simpler answer, I could go on but I and others have already said probably all there is to say, lol.

Wraith, Spirit, Hag

All I can say is that I don't recall ever having any issues with Wraith before the buff, which at first I wasn't even aware he'd been given, so either I and a bunch of people suddenly started underperforming against him all at once, or his buff is cheap and his defenders will find every excuse that exists to justify it.
@Tekno_Badger said:
No, he's not OP, he has no chase power, just speedy stealth. And that combo has an iridescent in it
He can get a free hit on a survivor, and then when that survivor runs away he can easily (and quickly) become invisible again, rush right back up to the survivor, uncloak and hit them again. "Speedy stealth" and "chase power" mean the same thing, especially when this ability is taken into consideration.
This is the stuff I just don't get. The evidence is right there but people are like "nah".

I'd honestly be curious to hear a mod weigh in on this. Intentionally doing NOTHING, just wandering around the map and hiding the whole time and crap like that should be - and I believe is - against the rules, if it can be proven. But there are times when, due to a challenge or simply my desire to be a support player for the match in question - I'll roam around and look for totems, go for unhooks, try to distract the killer, etc., and let the others worry about the gens.
I think it basically comes down to whether or not you know for a fact that the other players in the match are literally contributing absolutely nothing and just roaming around avoiding getting anything done. I don't know why anyone would bother to do that as opposed to just going AFK, which is also against the rules, but I've never done it so I can't say.

Another thing you have to think about is that females have a lot more accessory options in general. More features to highlight, more varied shapes and styles. I mean with men it's generally just shirts, shorts, pants, and maybe a jacket or suit. Look at any fashion "event" like the Oscars - every male will look virtually indistinguishable while the females will all have something that's almost totally unique. You'll see countless patterns, cuts, fittings, accessories, etc.
I don't have a degree in gender studies so I don't know why that is, it's just kind of always been. I'm not complaining, I LOVE all the outfits that the ladies get in this game (and to be fair not all of them get good ones - I'm still waiting for Zarina and Jane to get more than the couple of decent ones that they have). Sure, I do wish that the male characters in the game got more to work with, but given the serious nature and dedicated themes / vocations of most of them there's not a whole lot of potential for accessorizing. I mean look at Tapp for example. The guy's whole character is being a detective. How many detective outfits can you make, you know?

You don't have to do all that to defend against him though. All you need to do is rotate your camera. Headphones help, but aren't required. You can hear him coming without them. His uncloak takes about 3 seconds. This is plenty of time to position yourself if a loop or window is nearby. If there isn't you'll get hit, but that's the same as any killer.
I get why alot of people don't like Wraith. Alot of Wraiths play super scummy. I have to disagree that his basekit is an issue though.
I appreciate you being polite about it. Most people who defend the Wraith do so in a way that's aggressive and condescending. "He's fine". "He's fine, he's fine, he's fine. He's C tier at best. You just need to get better". It's not even me that people usually say this to because to be honest I've almost given up even trying to explain to anybody why the Wraith is a profound annoyance.
I get that every killer needs to be challenging to some extent, and that yes, certain gameplay elements will make those killers easier to handle, Wraith included. I just think that - for some reason - while so many people endlessly discuss things like what can be done about Spirit and whether Leatherface is too cheap, there seems to be segment of this forum (and therefore the fanbase in general) that's devoted to defending The Wraith at all costs. It seems that a lot of it comes from the fact that he was apparently seen as the weakest killer in the game for years, or at least that's a claim I've seen. I honestly don't understand how that's even possible given his abilities, but fair enough, people are happy to see him become more viable. But I think that - like the Trickster - instead of the character being given much of a serious inspection the developers basically just did a surface pass, saying "okay let's make this faster, turn this thing off, and...yeah alright, he's better now".
All killers can get a free hit if you're just not paying attention, don't have enough sense to use your surroundings, etc. I understand that part. But Wraith has a much easier time of getting that free hit. There are countless situations where the Wraith can come near, the player won't be able to detect him, and he can uncloak nearby and zoom into view for the smack. At that point it's pretty much over, window or otherwise. All he has to do is cloak again and catch up to you whenever he feels like it. He can even turn invisible, stick around a nearby corner and wait 20 seconds for the person to stop running and looping, then rush up, uncloak, and get the down then.
I guess what I'm saying is this: There's very little actual counterplay (or even warning) against a character that's only visible when they're close enough to hit you, can move at a profoundly greater speed than you can, doesn't have any sight or sound penalties while invisible, is faster at lunging out of cloak than survivors are at running speed, AND can do all of this without even needing to use his bell anymore, which I assumed was the one thing that they gave the character to balance out all the rest of these tactics. The character just has too many things going for him, a combination of too many advantages. Bubba is slow but he has an insta-down saw. Huntress is of average speed but she's got crazy hatchets. Several characters can teleport and not much else. Wraith has invisibility, super speed, a fast lunge out of cloak, a lunge that's way faster and covers more ground than any other character, AND silence. That's just too much to me. No player should have to stock up on a Wraith defense kit or pray that gens are near windows and strong loops just to have an adequate chance against one specific killer out of two dozen. Do you get where I'm coming from?

An honest question.
Did you also have issues with wraith before his buff?
No, I actually didn't used to have any unique feelings about facing Wraith just like I still don't have any unique feelings about facing roughly 75% of the roster. Sometimes I'd win, sometimes I'd lose, and - at the time at least - I didn't have the issue of most Wraith players camping while invisible. In other words he felt like just another killer, no better or worse than most of the others. He felt as fair and balanced as many of the other killers.
What suddenly changed wasn't even popular opinion or any kind of announcement (I don't follow social media so I usually don't know about changes unless I read about them here), it was a match against him when he wasn't using the bell. It totally threw me, I actually really liked the concept of the character having these huge crazy paranormal advantages yet all of them being totally balanced by the guy having to almost literally stand still and bang his bell to let you know that he was coming. In this match, that wasn't happening. I was running around the Red Forest, wondering why I hadn't seen or heard the killer in a couple of minutes, then suddenly I see him uncloak out of the corner of my eye and BOOM, he flies over and hits me. I was utterly confused. Where was the bell?
My only reasonable assumption, based on the speed of his lunge and the fact that he managed to play the entire match in total silence, thus negating virtually all natural defenses that survivors of this game are given, was that someone was hacking him. Nope, I then come to find out that eliminating his bell, nullifying the terror radius and turning his lunge attack into a super power was all intentional. I hated it. Sure enough, there's been a massive uptick in Wraith players since then, as well as an equal uptick in the amount of players who abuse his abilities (which is so easy to do I simply won't believe anyone who tries to claim that any other killer is easier to play cheap with). It rapidly escalated to the point that I utterly despise playing any match with him. I mean I truly hate it. I'd rather play ten Spirits in a row that one Wraith. A Wraith game isn't challenging, a Wraith game isn't fun. A Wraith game is spending the entire match in constant anxiety, wondering when he's going to suddenly show up next to you and end your game. I honestly don't even like playing as Wraith anymore because it's too easy, too cheap, and I legitimately feel bad for the survivors (many of whom still DC whenever I reveal myself).
This isn't just me and a handful of other people just being too inexperienced or not playing right. While I admit that such an element can and sometimes does play a factor, the fact is that the killer was given a lazy buff pass without any apparent regard to balance. My condolences go to anyone who felt that he was somehow in any way too worthless to ever bother using. But now the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction, and instead of celebrating that, I think that people need to be a bit more reasonable in understanding why this is a problem.

I still don't know why we even need an end game chat honestly lol
I actually never thought about it until you mentioned it. A simple thumbs up / down or even a basic selection of emojis would work just fine. Even nothing at all wouldn't be a serious detriment to anyone's gameplay. You can communicate "GG" without the need for a whole chat app.

The Hellraiser license is absolutely abundant with potential maps but if, hypothetically, the developers are keeping the content a little simple so that they can perhaps work on more important issues, I'd be all for it.
