  • Are you talking about filler pallets? Because if played correctly, there should be no way you're getting bloodlust out of a filler pallet.

Look one way, run the other and all the survivor will get is one loop out of the tile.

  • I wouldn't call it toxic. But it's petty and game throwing.

As always though, play the way you like.

  • As long as you can consistently do well on killer, it makes you a "good" killer.

It doesn't matter what killer you play.

  • The perk basically forces you to walk everywhere to use effectively. And if you 99 it then you can't do any stationary action such as dropping a pallet or working on a gen without getting it to 100%.

  • You can't decide to automatically win before starting the game by clicking on a red icon.

  • Probably the same reason why you can't see how much stalk a Michael / Ghostface has. It defeats the purpose of certain mechanics in the game, whether that is 99% insta-downs, running wiggle perks like flip-flop, or saboing hooks.

Information is powerful. Sometimes, you just have to approximate.

  • I don't think this is an issue with SWF but rather, matchmaking. Good killers do well against good SWFs and vice versa.

You brought up an interesting point, the 20/80 rule. I think it's super applicable to the issues we face in DBD. Essentially, you have 20% of Killers / Survivors driving the most volume of the games with higher win rates. At a aggregated level, this statistically makes the game seem balanced. However, it means that your average player will generally have a lower win rate than the "20%" and thus view the game as imbalanced.

  • Then don't buy it. Nobody is forcing you?

  • Relax. Freddy has long arms.

  • I would rather take a cosmetic to be honest.

You get so much BP from playing this game - if you're not focused on prestiging all characters / unlocking bad perks, BP almost becomes useless at some point.

I guess another way to look at it is the posts on this forum when people don't get free cosmetics during events.

Killers are only as good as the survivors allow them to be, change my mind.

So killers have no brain, no skill, and their input doesn't matter? It's this "hopeless" mentality that makes it so certain players never improve.

    • You think the recent maps are good? because as far as Ive seen no one likes the new maps except maybe Ormond
    • Killer win rates are high because there are way more killers then survs. Not to mention that a "win" is considered 2 or more kills which is easy if you camp which is what a majority of low ranks do.
    • "New killers all have some strong form of anti-loop" You think the twins are good? You think Blight is anti loop? and looping is only like 35% of the problem
    • "Ruin/Undying" In the early game anyone who isnt stupid will just not get off gens and let the killer chase someone. Mid game look for the bones and destroy them, and late finnish gens. Its very easy to counter and just because you saw Otz (A very high ranking killer) pull off a 150 + winstreak doesnt mean ALL killers are good.
    • I dislike the new maps for both sides for many reasons (graphics, lighting, etc). But from a gameplay perspective, they definitely are much better for killer than their predecessors.
    • That makes no sense. Win Rate is an average - it has nothing to do with how much each side is being played. Your second point fails to explain why win rates have been rising significantly over time - killers could always camp and tunnel.
    • Twins is a B-Tier killer. Not the best, but definitely viable. Blight on the other hand is a S-tier killer, when played correctly he can shut down survivors really quickly. Just because your average player can't play these killers at a high level doesn't mean they are weak.
    • Once again, your point implies helplessness from the killer by ignoring the fact that they have the ability to apply pressure. Like any powerful perk combo, it's not going to fix someone's complete lack of skill. However, players that are good enough to utilize this combo are consistently dominating most games using it.

All those things were only really in for the first year. Afterwords they all fizzled out in a relative pace and killer has stayed in about the same place as usual with only slight buffs while Survs get stronger every month or so

    • Map changes have been a massive buff to killer
    • Killer win rates have been steadily rising (Last stats were pre-map updates showing killer with higher win rates than survivor)
    • New killers all have some strong form of anti-loop
    • Ruin/Undying (Despite how weak people like to pretend this perk combo is, there's a reason why good killers can have 150+ winstreaks running it)

At the end of the day, I would say that DBD is relatively balanced. The reason why it might not seem so is because DBD rewards players that are good due to broken matchmaking. I can't think of another PvP game where you can win 100+ times in a row, no matter how good you are. Especially on killer where you don't have to worry about teammates weighing you down.

  • Yes, let's just delete everything that requires skill in this game.

We can have M1 only killers, no pallets or windows and a hold W game.

  • Just ignore and play the way you want.

Everyone is going to have opinions on how you should play - especially players that aren't good at the game.

  • When killers lose because they went against 4 one man SWFs

  • @JimPickens666 said:

Also Pyramid head literally shows its not over powered. He also shows that skill checks instead of mashing one button over and over is much preferred by everyone so maybe talk to however was in charge of that chapter for more good ideas

Yes, I'm sure you'll have a fun game if you step into Pyramid Head's tunnel juice.

  • Flashlights are a perfect example of don't change something that isn't broken.

  • This is the major reason why survivor queues take longer. While the killer-survivor ratio on PC is pretty balanced, other platforms aren't as much.

Before cross-play, you would have certain platforms complaining about 15 minute queues. Now everybody is complaining about 5-10 minute queues. Although I guess during the day time, survivor queues are still instant.

  • In what world are recent killers bad. Since this year, there has been:

    • Deathslinger (B)
    • Pyramid Head (A)
    • Blight (S)
    • Twins (B)

Sounds like you're complaining just for the sake of complaining.

  • Probably because killers usually bring a mori when they see 4 of the same character because they assume it's a SWF.

Although I guess with mori nerf it isn't as big of a deal anymore.

  • It depends. Usually if the survivor isn't gesturing and actually does the gen then they are probably thankful.

Although most good survivors would probably just sit in front of a hook and ask you to go next rather than trying to complete 5 gens.

  • Except that the new maps are extremely dark and a blendette's paradise.

  • I would just delete them and fix generator RNG so they don't spawn exactly in a cluster next to each other.

Anything that circumvents the base mechanics of the game are unhealthy for balance in my opinion.

  • I would simplify.

70% win rate on killer - Average.

90% win rate on killer - Good.

Killer is a role where the only thing stopping someone from succeeding is their own skill.

  • EGC is fine the way it is now. You shouldn't be rewarded for survivors finishing all the gens. Put another way, if you failed your objective to protect the generators, the onus should be on you to get kills. There shouldn't be some cheese mechanic that gives you a win.

Like we really need high mobility killers proxying the gate for 3 minutes with NOED for a free win with EGC.

  • "How do you talk to them"

You don't. Some bots are just programmed to be toxic.

  • DBD punishing you for not doing the CJ

  • it's matchmaking.

MM is basically a random number generator. Sometimes you will get players with 50 hours. Sometimes you will get players with 5000 hours.

    Rolling a die - you're just as likely to roll a 1 as a 6.

  • I'll try to keep things high level since most micro level advice generally doesn't work. I'll preface this by saying that you should decide whether your goal is to get better at killer or to get better at a specific killer. In my opinion, killer fundamentals are learned best through a M1 killer whereas learning a M2 killer can teach bad habits. That being said, play what makes you happy and fits to your goals.

    1. Since you main survivor, try to do what is effective against you when you play survivor: This is probably the most intuitive tip - The skill levels of killers you go against widely vary. Think about what killers do that throws you off guard - generally, effective things such as hiding your red stain around every corner, looking the opposite way of the next action you are going to do, etc
    2. Learn to track with sound: This is probably one of the biggest differences when switching from survivor to killer. Survivors generally track with vision, whereas it's very important to use sound as a killer
    3. Macro level play is much more important as killer: It might seem dumb, but always ask yourself, given the information you have, what each survivor is doing. Sometimes, you won't know. Other times, you will be able to deduce something like..random example "Since I'm chasing someone and one survivor is on the hook in a deadzone behind me, there is probably one uninjured survivor trying to sneak behind me to unhook". Things like this will help you make the right decisions and overtime, your predictions will become much more accurate and almost automatic. It you can't get yourself to consciously remember to do this, and don't mind acting a bit dumb, you can actually say things out loud until it becomes automatic. Mastering macro play will basically allow you to win almost every game at R1 on any killer.

  • Twins aren't bad. They just require a different playstyle.

  • Play how you like.

But if you're going to throw the game because you are petty, then I don't want to see you complaining about bad solo queue teammates. Because you are the bad teammate.

Even if I like it, but it cant happen. Tight door, windows, pallets are the interactions between 2 sides

Imaging this, a huge monster that doesnt fit to move in a door/windows. Good luck in Ormond, Lery map.

"How big do you want the killer?"

    "Yes"

You mean you don't play the game on McDonald's Wi-Fi on Mars? Casual.

I routinely kick my router while playing killer. It produces the same effects.

  • inb4 getting hit by killers playing from an underground submarine in the arctic ocean

  • Good luck and happy early birthday.

  • Is this a joke?

It's one thing to argue that balance is still an issue. It's another to say that killers have been nerfed more than survivors since release.

What you use premises that are untrue, it calls into question the credibility of your argument.

  • At this point, it would be better if their "tutorial" was just a link to some youtuber explaining the basics of the game.

That's where everyone learns how to play anyways.

  • Trapper unfortunately is a killer that is severely affected by RNG.

They should just make his traps and spawns more consistent so stuff like this doesn't happen.

  • Ever since crossplay survivor queue times on PC have been much longer.

There's a good killer / survivor balance on PC but the majority of console players are survivor mains.

  • If you're winning most games on a killer you're new at, does it really need a buff?

DS hits are finicky but with practice you should be able to better understand which hits will land.

Look at me getting a honorable mention for being a toxic ######### :). I would have to nominate you for the memes alone.

    • Don't heal unless you need to (e.g., going for save, end game, etc.)
    • Split up and don't work on the same gen as your teammate
    • Don't drop pallets when they are in frenzy. Legion will usually respect pallets in power so you can use this to your advantage to get another loop out of the tile. Then when they don't expect you to drop the pallet you can drop it on them

    More advanced tips:

    • Legion is weak at getting downs because their power doesn't assist them. If you are good at looping, legion will be more likely to chase other players
    • When legion is in frenzy, there is very little opportunity cost in trying something dumb, since you will likely get hit anyways. With this in mind you can try spinning, running at them to bait out a swing. Another tactic is to try vaulting back to the other side when they vault to your side. For the most part, it's almost like you have borrowed time when legion is in power.
    • Legion doesn't see scratch marks in power and has a very low field of view. You can use this to your advantage to lose them by hiding around a corner, etc. (This is only if legion hasn't hit anyone else with power yet)

It's a horror game and survivors should not be able to make agressive plays if you want killers to not look like a clown (sorry, clown mains)

    By your logic,

    • Killers shouldn't be able to defend gens, they should only be able to play "aggressively"
    • FPS games shouldn't have knives, grenades, because they are not for "shooting"
    • Action games shouldn't require thought because it is not "strategy"

At the end of the day, it's a game. People can use the game's mechanics in any way they wish. You can make the argument that certain mechanics are overpowered, but to say you can't do certain things because of the "genre" of the game doesn't make sense.

  • It's hard to outlaw things in the game that aren't outright exploits or cheating. Where is the line drawn between being "Toxic" and playing the game? If you ask 50 people you will get 50 different answers.

I will say that I am an advocate of being more strict on "toxic" behavior in end-game chat. But aside from that, it's hard to say that something coded as part of the game is against the rules.

  • I think tunneling is a valid strategy. Although the problem is that usually players who are clearly new and don't have DS are the ones that are tunneled.

As for camping, while there are certain situations where it makes sense (ie. egc), its otherwise a strategy that ruins the game for one side.
