Yeah, if they even acknowledged there was a problem with gen speed, which they haven't, they would have put through that change alongside the ruin nerf. They're never going to address it, and will watch as new players bleed out over bad queue times caused by, you guessed it, a huge killer shortage. I had started playing survivor more often, but it's boring as hell when you PiP 80% of your matches, so now I just quit playing when killer matches go south over and over again. I can't imagine other players are much different.
It's boring when you pip? lol That's what made it boring? I'm confused by that. I'm sorry. If you pipped that meant you were actually doing stuff. Cleansing totems, working on gens, running from the killer, saving people. That's how you get pips. So, that means you were in the action. If you were bored than you might just have a preference.

I see Bubba and Hillbilly as night and day, whether playing as them or against them. There is no real comparison other than they both use chainsaws and can one hit a person. lol Bubba needs some love to make him more versatile so he doesn't have to stand by a hook just to use his ability.
Edit: And I know he doesn't HAVE to stand by a hook. He can use it out and about and still down a person but what makes it special is that it can down more than one person yet that opportunity is super rare unless he's camping. Let's just be real.
-
What if... and this is just a rough idea so don't chew me up too badly, but...
What if when after a generator was finished something else had to be done before another generator could be completed. Now, I'm not saying that has anything to do with working on them. I think that survivors should still be able to do that but would only be able to get them to 99% unless they, let's just say for fun... go find a breaker that appears somewhere randomly on the map (that only they can see and not the killer) and throw it (like opening an exit gate but it doesn't take as much time) and then they can complete one more. Then repeat. It would definitely put a dent in gen rushing, which if anyone has experienced as a killer... it freaking sucks, but it wouldn't have a detrimental affect on gameplay and really it wouldn't be too hard to do and the survivors wouldn't necessarily be at risk either. Just a random thought I had after reading this.
-
Hag is fine.😅 The only problem I have with her is that add-on that let's her teleport to traps at will rather than have them triggered and the only reason I have a problem with that is because it is always used (in my experience) to tunnel survivors that just got removed from a hook or to fish and go after the person that unhooked (which isn't as bad but still).
And I'm just saying this because I feel like even throwing the idea out there as a joke makes it become considered. Also, making a suggestion puts it in the mind of others that maybe it does need a change when it probably doesn't.
One thing I've learned from my many, many years of gaming is that when devs go overboard and change too much and especially if it's too often, the latter being so important, it kills the game. Players hate having to constantly adjust and learn things all over again, especially when they liked it the way it was before and if it's almost endless feeling.
Now I'm done. lol I swear I'm not taking it too seriously. Just talkative today. 😁

She’s still better then him if you can hit your blinks lol
Yeah, but most people can't. xD
-
I think Bubba since he falls short in certain areas where as Hillbilly has a lot going for him as far as map control, speed, mobility, etc. Bubba is sort of just good for camping since his "power" ability almost demands he camp if he wants to knock down two or more survivors at once.
-
It's one of those problems that comes and goes. You just have to keep trying unfortunately.
-
It would be cool. I think you can't go wrong with adding more killers and even survivors so long as they bring something fun to the game.
-
I do but only if I've been getting screwed at the end of matches. Then I'll use it for a while until I break the bad luck streak and then switch it out for something else that I prefer since it is only good at the end of games. But! Having said that, I've had some insane clutch matches because of Adrenaline.
-
I agree. It's too much. It needs to be lessened or removed. It's not fair to her. Other characters have similar abilities that allow them to do rushed/speed attacks and they suffer far less of a penalty for it than she does. I used to love playing against her as survivor (refuse to play her as killer right now) but now it's almost too easy and I don't really get excited anymore. I actually end up feeling bad for the nurse. xD
-
I had a post all written out but when I attempted to correct an error and save it the post was deleted. But anyway, I'll tell you why...
It's because Ghostface has one thing that separates him from all the other killers. That annoying, freaking noise made whenever a camera goes over him. It's absolutely absurd. Not only does it tell Ghostface that he was seen by a survivor (who may not have even known they were looking in Ghostface's direction) but it literally points him in their direction, telling him "oh, the survivor is that way!". And if Ghostface is revealed then the person's EXACT location is given away. It's insanity. I would be fine with just the noise but no... they basically hand him the survivors location or at least show him the general area the survivor is in.
Why it bothers me? It takes no skill. Yeah, I said it. The killer doesn't have to use his own eyes/ears to find survivors. The game does it for him. Better yet, the game has the survivor do it for him. The survivor betrays themselves and gives themselves away by simply gazing in a direction the killer just happened to be in.
Worst of all, he is a stealth killer that can chase you while in stealth mode. That means he's silent and fast. It's incredibly difficult to dodge someone you can't even look at that can move at a speed greater than your own. Like what the heck is that crap? I hate it. Not the killer. Just the dumb camera mechanic. It's ridiculous and should be removed.
I strongly suggest playing killers, though. You would be amazed at what you learn by doing so. It will help your survivor gameplay because you'll understand how each killer operates. Some of them are so different. I guarantee your performance will improve.
-
I think that Ghostface is favored because of one real reason that separates him from other killers.
That horrible, freaking noise when your camera goes over him. Not only can he hear it, too, but it literally points him in the direction of the person that saw him. It's honestly absurd. I'd be fine with just the noise but the guidance showing what direction the survivor is in is insanity. You don't even have to be good or use your own eyes/ears. The game does it for you but even goes beyond that and uses the survivor's view to the killers advantage, too.
It's the one reason I hate playing against Ghostface. Why? Because it takes no skill. A survivor just has to accidentally be looking in the direction of the killer or an area that the killer passes through, both might be clueless to the other, and BAM. Ghostface knows where you are even if he had no idea you were there.
Worst of all, he's a freaking stealth killer. It's incredibly difficult to dodge someone you can't even look at. I recommend playing him, though, so you can truly understand it. Just like all killers. You learn so much more about them that way.
-
For killer (I use this basically all the time on 80% of my killers): Bloodhound, Unrelenting, Sloppy Butcher, Fire Up/Discordance (these two I interchange).
For Survivor (I hardly stray from my current build but when I want to switch things up I'll use): Solidarity, Quick and Quiet, Lightweight, Alert.
Not sure if any of those are considered meta. lol Guess it depends on who I'd be asking.
-
I like this because right now No Mither seems like a deathwish and useless. Everyone I've ever seen use this (I refuse) has been killed because they're constantly exposed the whole time and with little benefit as is. I would love a new version like what you mentioned. I'd probably use it over Iron Will, which takes up a perk slot but seems almost necessary when playing a female character since they're screaming in agony otherwise and you can hear them from 30 meters away.
-
I actually don't single out anyone based on the character they play but instead how they behave in the game. If they're on the other side of a pallet tea-bagging or flashlight clicking me then I might show them a little special attention.
Edit: I'll admit sometimes if I feel particularly threatened by a character and think I won't be able to get them in the end I might target them in the beginning, too. But I do my best never to camp and/or tunnel, yet I have done a little fishing here and there.
-
I think if ruin is "gone" a good replacement, and I might get crap for it but it works for me, is Discordance. It allows me to stop people from working on gens together and helps avoid gen rushes. I don't have too much of a problem unless I get put up against some very skilled survivors. Also thanat… I forgot how to spell it. Thanatophobia. That's a good one, too, if you don't mind hitting and releasing rather than following through on every chase.

All exhaustion perks should be removed? What a joke.
When I play killer I don't really have a problem with exhaustion perks. If anything, they just delay the inevitable and I still get the knock down.
-
Getting in the headspace where...
As I survivor I must survive in order to feel good about the match I just played.
And...
As I killer I have to get a 4k or I somehow failed even if I got the other three.
Also, getting mad after a series of the above happening where I fail to survive even if I made a ton of points and got to the end or if I didn't get that 4th kill as a killer or worse yet if the survivors trolled me and I didn't get any of them or only just one of them. That makes me super angry.
-
Well, if it dies instantly than it's not going to be blocking any other perks. xD But really, I find pop way more useful than ruin anyway on most killers I play.
Really though, I can't comment much on this until I play with the new ruin and experience it myself. It's really easy to assume how games will turn out but that doesn't mean what we're imagining is right.
-
If you were to remove the slow down while he powers up his chainsaw then you have to lower his turning ability because he can knock down all four survivors, which is an amazing ability. I also think his lack of speed is one reason that many of the people that play him (not all) camp. So if that was fixed then perhaps people that play him would be more motivated to go out and chase instead. But really, faster speed should = less speed or range when turning or something. Just to make it more fair because he is deadly in the right hands already.
-
You can't call the hatch a free escape if the survivor doesn't get it 100% of the time. lol
-
It's opposite for me. Playing survivor gives me anxiety while playing killer just makes me sort of tense and maybe even a little angry if everyone escapes. But that's why I like switching between the two because they're completely different experiences and it keeps me calm and relaxed. 😁

Nobody who plays Claudette has any empathy. The easiest character who has bs cosmetics that are abused to blend in.
Survivors can't tell killers to adapt I don't care if you didn't ask for a ruin nerf or what you can't say adapt when you have been handheld for years, playing on recruit difficulty. Let's play no perks and we'll separate wheat from chaff
You can't say a person doesn't have empathy based on a character play. That's stupid and naïve.
Also, how are you going to get mad at people for wanting to use the best of what's available? I bet you use NOED and obviously ruin, which are awesome perks (especially when playing a killer that's not your forte or you get a good team of survivors). Anyone with a brain would use what works best for them. They would be dumb not to.
Imagine if in any other game the best weapon or camo wasn't allowed to be used simply because it was good. lol Makes no sense to get on people for trying to wear colors that match the environment in a survival game or any game really where players kill each other.😂 You should expect them to. And before you say anything, when I play survivor I play Meg. You just seemed like the type so I'm putting that out there.
-
No, because if there is even an ounce of lag it's not going to work.
-
Mostly good. Can't knock them for wanting to make money. Who doesn't? lol But they could fix the issues the game has, at least the serious ones that have a drastic affect on gameplay. Overall, though, I think it's probably REALLY complicated to make a game like this and they work hard and put in effort and creativity and to share it with all of us takes guts. I admire that and I think they're okay people. Because people are what a company is made of and sometimes we forget that.
The game itself would do well with a make-over in the graphics department with maps that are more "alive" and natural. It's not bad now but I think it would be amazing with some Battlefront 2 graphics and with the intent to create scary environments. I've definitely mentioned that before. I'm sure it's not easy to do, though. I think that'll come eventually in the future with funding and time. Just like everything else. Patience is key, I guess.
But if they fixed the issues the game has, especially the connection and matchmaking ones, I think people wouldn't complain as much. As much being the keyword because we all know people will never actually stop complaining. xD
-
I love the idea of this; increase the scares and the fun. We definitely could use more positive diversity in game-play.
I think when it comes to the key parts you have to collect... when a survivor dies or DCs they shouldn't just drop the part but the part should return to the chest. I only say that because some maps are huge and it would be difficult to find a part if a survivor DC'd in a random place not near a hook, vault, or gen.
And poor nurse does need some love. Her "stun" or whatever you want to call it where she looks at the ground after blinking/phasing is horrible. There are other killers who have similar abilities like hillbilly, for example, that have hardly any repercussion for using their ability (even when hitting an object). I think the stun should be shortened at the very least, if not removed. Nurse takes actual skill to use. Not just anyone can do it (which might be bad and reason enough to touch her up 🤔). I personally enjoy playing against a good nurse. She delivers in the excitement department if she can actually hit people - most can't.
I have some ideas but I'll have to hit up the thread later. It's late. lol Zzzzzzz But I just had to throw in my two cents. I will say some funny emotes in the game would be good. Other than pointing and waving. Nothing a toggle push and a wheel can't make become reality. But some shaking/cowering for survivors, or a thumb across the neck for killers wouldn't hurt.
-
Yeah, the issues should be fixed first. I definitely agree with that. All systems need the same TLC. PC is treated like the favorite child while the consoles are neglected in the corner wishing for the same love and attention.
-
I was just thinking the same thing the other day. xD There is no reward for winning other than a temporary ego boost and rush from the experience (if it wasn't too easy). Cosmetics should definitely be something that should be unlocked through winning. Maybe earning a certain amount of "points" allows you to unlock something. We would need a LOT more cosmetics, though, and all characters would have to be treated equally since some have way more cosmetics than others. I would love to play for cosmetics. I'd die for some mascot type outfits like a unicorn or a giant cat or a hamburger costume. Yeah, I'm weird. lol
But yes, I totally agree with you 100%. You have some good ideas, too.
Also, I just want to throw in here I think that characters sharing rank is silly. Not sharing rank would allow people to take breaks, sometimes much needed, from higher ranks, and would stop people (potentially) from de-pipping by DCing in matches. Also DCing could make people lose "points" for buying cosmetics or whatever. Just saying.
-
@Jago said:
No. All we need are cosmetics.
I found this so funny. I'm pretty sure it was sarcasm. But I will say in cosmetics defense... if the devs would just make it fair for all the killers/survivors, as in when its Christmas make sure EVERY character gets an outfit/skin rather than just three, I think people would appreciate it. People love certain characters and I get super bummed when a holiday comes along and the characters I like to play don't get an outfit/skin. Look at Fortnite. You seriously can't go wrong with introducing skins/outfits to the game. People love it. But be fair about it. Make sure everyone gets something and stop using it as incentive to purchase or play other chars. It's messed up and greedy in a sleezy way.
Having said that... the game should be in good functioning order before focus should go to cosmetics. I honestly think DBD is one of the most unique games I've ever played but it does have some major issues. Implementing a casual mode, a competitive mode, and maybe even some goofy modes like a moshpit where its all the killers (one of each being played at the same time) hunting and killing 50 survivors on a huge map with the correct amount of generators necessary and a few more gates sounds hella fun to me because it would just be chaos. Yeah, it would have to be figured out but it's not impossible. Even a 2 killers vs 8 survivors would be exciting and different. Killers would be competing for kills and heck, maybe they could fight each other (stun one another for a short time). I'd eat popcorn and watch that. lol Anyway, I got sidetracked. 🤪
OMG and this game with Battlefront 2's graphics (especially in Ewok mode) would be awesome. 🤯
Edit: Moshpit mode wouldn't even have to have an escape. It could just be last player standing (or longest living or maybe there's some sort of auto-escape feature for the last person) and killer with the most kills as the victors. Just a weird idea. One of many I have. lol
-
I don't use it because, in my opinion (not everyone will agree), it's only really useful in the end game situation when someone gets hooked near a gate. I've tried using it in matches and the killer will still tunnel the person until they knock them down again. Sure it buys time but not much. Then you have experienced killers who will be just outside of range and run back to the hook but BT didn't count because they weren't close enough. It just seems like a "please tunnel this person so we (the others) have more time to do our thing" perk to me, which is sort of messed up for the other person if they're a random. I just don't find it useful but I've seen clutch moments, far and few, where it was. Mostly in EG or if someone was an amazing runner.
-
Of course they care about new players, not necessarily just survivors, because new players are who they need to continuously bring in so that their game doesn't die. This game is seriously like crack from a psychological standpoint. It has its insane highs (escaping or getting that 4k) where you get a dopamine release and it's crazy lows where you get wrecked but you need to get that fix and just win one. It's like one of those toxic relationships you just can't quit even though you know its bad for you. If they can get new players hooked then they'll probably keep them despite the obvious, enormous issues with the game (such as people floating when trying to heal someone else, getting stuck on trees or in windows, not being able to pick someone up, the lag/latency and connection errors/issues, the matchmaking problems, the hitboxes, the nerfing/buffing, the lack of goals/rewards, the fact leveling is basically meaningless, the fact the survivors are identical in mechanics and are basically just skins, how some killers are so much better than others, etc - funny at first but annoying the 10th time and beyond). So pandering to new players is actually genius on their part because once their hooked they're probably not going anywhere and in the end people still paid for the game and will probably convince their friends to, too, because SWF is almost necessary in high ranks.
-
I live in an area of town where there is only one internet provider and my internet speed cannot get above a certain speed. It's unfortunately really slow but doesn't seem to affect game play that much aside from giving out every so often which results in me being kicked from a match. It doesn't happen too often though some days are worse than others. Usually weather dependent. If I could switch to a faster service, I would, but it's literally impossible. I don't think it's fair that because my connection gives out sometimes that I should be punished for it. I enjoy the game. I paid for it. I should be able to play it and no one should say I can't or shouldn't because of something completely out of my control.

See, this is the reason DC penalties will exist. If you don’t want to play DBD then don’t play DBD, simple.
If you choose to play DBD but decide that playin against spirit isn’t fun, or seeing ruin is unfun, or being the first one found and hooked is a reason to DC you are affecting four other people just for yourself.
Sorry, that kind of attitude belongs in a PVE, single player game.
It's not that they don't want to play DBD. It's that they don't want to play THAT match. So, what you're really saying is "if you don't want to play that "match" then don't play it" and they aren't. That's why they DC. The bugs are insane. I'm not going to stay in a match stuck to a tree until the killer finds me and then decides he doesn't want to hook me and instead leaves me there so he can get the other survivors while using me as bait.
-
Personally, as someone that plays killer and survivor... if you're going too hard (killing everyone before a single gen is done or even if just one is done) then you can't expect survivors to be happy about that. Not saying you did that, that's just an example because I've done it a few times without even realizing it. If you were doing toxic things during the match they'll be angry with you.
You wishing them good luck after the match? Maybe they thought you were being cocky? I can see a survivor that barely escaped or was the only one to escape taking it that way. It's really easy to misconstrue text.
And yes, it is a game and the main point of games is for everyone to have fun. That doesn't mean you have to lose but if you're laying the smackdown on survivors too hard or taking it way too seriously like losing somehow means you're a loser in real life, then just ease up a bit. Especially if you get these messages a lot.
But if you're going to play how you want, which you should, and you're going too hard or doing stuff they would consider toxic... and you're just going to keep doing it, then telling survivors to chill is silly.
EDIT: Just want to make it clear I'm not accusing you of any of these things.
-
The old lady would become my main when I play survivor. I would love it. Also, the more diversity the better.
-
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Those survivors are probably just freaking out and trying to zigzag their way to freedom not realizing you're trying to protect them.
-
@PandaChris Your little story was hilarious.
-
These perks have helped me with SWF teams and even regular games: Discordance, Thrill of the Hunt (if I'm using a hex like Ruin), Nurses Calling (since they like to heal each other or heal nearby when someone is being chased or about to be hooked), Iron Maiden (since they sometimes hide in lockers near where their friend is going to be hooked), and Pop Goes the Weasel (for damaging gens they were quickly finishing), Infectious Fright (for those that like to hang out nearby when they're friend is being chased and is wounded), and Thanatophobia (for slowing them down on everything). Just figure out what works best for you.
Also Hex: Devour Hope if you don't camp and Hex: Haunted Ground if you're fast at finding survivors (if not then it might not be good for you).
-
I've had games where I was killer and was gen rushed and it sucked, and I've had games where I was playing survivor and everyone died before a single gen (or maybe just one) was done and it sucked. These two situations should be looked at by the devs and a creative solution that doesn't punish anyone too badly should be thought up. Then again, slowing down the progress of an object isn't a bad thing so long as it's done fairly and both sides are treated equally. Ruin is the example of slowing down the objective.
I've learned though if you're being gen rushed it might be because you focused on chasing someone too long when you should have given up the chase or there are multiple people working on one gen and there's an amazing perk for that called Discordance. I use it and it almost always leads to me catching someone.
-
That's a cool idea but it would make some killers OP. Maybe it could just slow down gens instead or even start regressing them until the shrines are deactivated.
-
Everyone is going to say do gens but at the beginning of the game we all know that its good to attempt to save the survivor to give the whole team a chance to do better. The less people there, the easier time the killer has. It's no secret which is why some killers face camp in the first place.
Anyway, it's not so much a counter as a tactic and it really only works with survivors that work well together, usually an SWF is needed but what you do is have one survivor go up and pretend to get the hooked person off, they take the hit and run off, and another uninjured survivor who was right there waiting grabs the hooked person and frees them (hopefully they have BT because the killer will probably just tunnel).
This has worked for me a few times.
-
I play Spirit the best. She's a beast and I know I'll do well with her. I play Wraith, Doctor, Pig, and Clown for fun.
-
I've never done this on purpose. There have been just a couple times where I dropped my controller and it switched, xD, but I was very unhappy about it since I only play Meg all the time anyway when I play survivor. That was back before they changed the button for switching characters to the toggle from R2/L2.
-
As I say toxic = toxic. If they believe you were being toxic then they're going to be toxic back. It's just how things play out. So, if you play in a way that many survivors view as toxic then you can pretty much expect those kind of messages. Just block people not on your friend list while you play this game. lol No more messages.
-
I don't think he needs a nerf but I've played ghostface so many times lately it's annoying. In fact, playing against any killer several times in a row is annoying.
-
Same.
-
It's one of a kind. There's nothing that I've found that's anything like it. Also, the rush you get when you succeed at escaping or catching someone trying to.
-
I play both killer and survivor and the only time I hate NOED is when I dominated in a game and the killer gets me at the end because of the perk and not necessarily skill. I have gone whole games not getting hooked and then at the end was just unlucky enough to be spotted and got downed in one hit (especially since you don't know they have NOED until they hit someone) which feels incredibly unfair. Now, if the killer has been kicking my ass the whole game then NOED makes no difference to me.
I use NOED on killers that I know I do worse at and have gotten many kills with it. Some I know I didn't deserve but others I did.
-
My reasons for why killers camp:
1.) They're doing terrible and want at least one kill or its the only way they're getting kills.
2.) That person somehow pissed them off or bested them and so they want them to die.
3.) There are just those types of killers that do it to piss people off because they enjoy having the power or/and making others angry (I believe this is a small number of players).
4.) All the gens are done and they hooked someone after and know that there's a high chance people are going to try to save the hooked survivor and so they'll be able to get more hooks by sticking nearby (also it wouldn't make sense for them to walk away at this point unless its to chase a different survivor).
I don't condone camping. I play both killer and survivor and I absolutely hate being camped on DBD when I'm a survivor. It's one of the worst experiences because you just hang there on the hook waiting to die or be tunneled right off it. I would never want to be the reason someone hates the game so I don't do this. However, as I said above, it does make sense in some scenarios like if all the gens are done or people are running around the hooked survivor (but the killer should go after one of them, imo, if that person is unhooked, not down the person that was hooked).
-
I've been disconnected from every game well into it or at the end whether I'm playing killer or survivor. It's driving me crazy. This is also happening to a friend of mine.
