  • Hatch standoffs do not always occur from a natural chase all the time. Usually the killer finds the hatch first. Either way it results in the same thing that the timer would ultimately fix. So I don't see why you think its such a bad idea. The killer still gets the advantage and if a standoff does happen the killer also gets a free kill, just like now when a "gate" standoff occurs.

  • That is literally a hatch standoff so I'm confused by your point. The fact that there would be a timer means that there would be a 4 minute standoff at best. You can't tell survivors to stop crying about 4 minutes if you're going to. If the survivor doesn't go for a gate... they're dead.. killer gets the kill.

  • @TAG See point three.

    3) The sacrifice animation allows killers plenty of time to get to the hatch if they know where it is, which they almost always do, and if they don't somehow know where it is then it gives them time to find it

Hatch standoffs were a thing because killers almost always got to the hatch first. if they didn't... survivors would jump in and the match would be over. The sheer number of posts and complaints about hatch standoffs are proof enough killers reach hatch first 99% of the time or hatch standoffs wouldn't be a thing.

  • I don't want to get rid of EGC. I like the timer. I think its fun. I just don't like the fact the killer can close the hatch. It is nearly certain death for last survivor.

  • Reason killers usually reach hatch first:

    1) Killers have more movement speed - this doesn't count special abilities like billys chainsaw, nurses blink, spirits phase, wraiths invisibility speed boosts (which can be increased by add-ons), etc.

    2) Killers will almost always know where the hatch is because they are patrolling gens and chasing survivors while survivors, unless chased, are relatively static and working on a gen only to bounce to the next one and again remain static.

    3) The sacrifice animation allows killers plenty of time to get to the hatch if they know where it is, which they almost always do, and if they don't somehow know where it is then it gives them time to find it

Yes, survivor has a chance to discover the hatch when fleeing killer, moving around map, or during last animation but in a hatch race the killer wins 99% of the time.

  • They both do, yeah. I never denied that. It changes nothing I've stated, though.

  • I've already stated why its highly unlikely survivors will reach the hatch before killers. I haven't been in a game as a survivor or killer where this has happened aside from once on coldwind. I also haven't seen a game on a stream where a survivor without a key got the hatch first. And if my other post shows then you can ignore this one but it said it had to be approved first for some reason so... here's this post instead.

  • Well, maybe one day the devs will share the data with us so we'll know if its unfair or not. At this time, it seems unfair. I have yet to see a survivor escape through a hatch without a key or open a gate and get away except for one time when the gates were on opposite sides of Red Forest. I'm not saying it's never happened. I'm just saying in the streams I've watched and games I've played it hasn't.

I just like the idea of having more stimulating, suspenseful gameplay. The way it is now, it's not. Hatch gets closed, the survivor realizes they won't get a gate open in time or tries and fails and both survivor and killer stand there waiting for the entity to do its thing. That's boring.

  • As far as locker roulette goes... there is a perk for that. Iron maiden.

  • @fluffybunny The way I said doesn't make it an easy out nor does it in anyway say survivors are more entitled and I don't even see how it comes off that way. The only thing that changes is the hatch can't be closed. The timer immediately puts the remaining survivor at a disadvantage and they would still have to work for the win. I think it's worthy of testing out.

  • @ fluffybunny Yes, that's what I was saying and yes grabbing a survivor out of the hatch would still be a thing. I thought that was fun.

  • It wouldn't be a stalemate though because the timer would still exist.

  • The definition of a free escape is not what you said @ShyN3ko because as much as you don't want to believe it that's actually incredibly rare. Most people play the game to... play the game.

@fluffybunny I could say the same to you. Killers aren't entitled to that last kill. At least the method I suggested makes it more fair. Right now, it's not and trying to say otherwise is a lie. The solo survivor is at a huge disadvantage.

  • Please explain to me how the timer existing but the hatch being unable to be closed is giving the survivor more. lol

  • Again, it's not a free escape and the fact that keeps being said is just mind-blowing. The timer literally guarantees no free escape. Secondly, in most cases if 0 gens are done that killer was being toxic af or the survivors were terrible and if they were terrible the last one is probably as good as dead anyway. And thirdly, killer and survivor both have to find hatch. It's not like that's new so I don't know why that's even being said.

  • It wouldn't be on the survivors side. The idea I shared is fair to both sides. In fact, it still favors killer because there's a timer and killers travel faster than survivors and don't even have to go all the way to a gate to see if its been touched.

  • Most survivors aren't traveling all over the map. They're trying to get a gen done and unless chased don't leave it. Also, the death animation takes a significant amount of time, allowing a killer to rush to the hatch. If you're denying killers will reach hatch first in most situations then you're lying to yourself.

  • The killer doesn't have to search for the hatch because the killer is already traveling around the map over and over again and so actually has a far better chance of finding it than a survivor. Hence why most killers already know where it is and run to close it.

  • Again, it wouldn't be a free escape because the timer exists. Meaning the survivor HAS to do something. They can't wait there.

Also, the hatch race isn't a race. Killers are inherently faster than survivors and will almost always find and get to the hatch first to close it.

  • How would it make it a free escape? The killer had to hit the survivor in order for the survivor to jump in and avoid a grab. The killer doesn't have to hit the survivor and with a timer going the survivor can't just stand there and wait for that to happen.

  • The killer being unable to close the hatch but the timer still existing would end hatch standoffs because the survivor can't just stand there and wait for the killer to hit him. The survivor HAS to go try a gate or die by the entity. I would prefer this method over the current since the current is one-sided and in the killers favor unless by some miracle the gates are on opposite sides of one of the large maps, which they rarely are. This would put pressure on both killer and survivor. Killer would have to decide if they want to camp hatch or check gates. Survivor would have to decide if going for a gate would be the better choice versus waiting for the killer (who probably knew where the hatch was already and ran straight to it) to leave the hatch. Either way, the match would be over in 4 minutes with neither player feeling completely cheated.

  • There is 0 chance at that point for a survivor if they're downed and can't get up. The killer could easily end the match by hooking them but many of them don't and instead troll the last survivor. And as far as the timer speeding up when survivor is on the ground goes... I'd prefer that over waiting for it to go down.

  • It's frustrating when people claim End Game is supposed to be a race to the hatch. Killers are inherently faster than survivors and that's not counting those like billy, nurse, spirit, wraith, and legion who have abilities that make them even faster. A survivor will lose 99% of the time in a race to the hatch, especially since killers can see it before it even opens.

  • If you're going to have less safe pallets or less pallets in general then survivors need not to be hit over them (or windows for that matter) once both feet are on the ground or its been slammed down. Pallets aren't a guaranteed escape.

  • I agree with making the basement scary in other ways. The killer should NOT be able to trap people in side by body blocking, though. That's a nightmare situation for a survivor or survivors. I don't know how hard it would be to implement but what if the basement was bigger (hooks still close to the door or just not impossible to get to) and once a survivor enters it via by will or being taken the location of the door changes or the multiple "exits" appear with only one leading out and being a "true exit". Just some ideas. Probably to difficult to implicate.

  • I personally don't see a problem with how someone wakes themselves up or how it alerts Freddy. I seem to lose and win against Freddy an equal amount. He doesn't seem OP like some killers and he always seems to get some kills in matches I'm in with him. Yes, he has an advantage using aura perks but without them he could be really weak. The only thing I can say about Freddy, which End Game worsens incredibly now, is if he gets everyone in the dream state at the end of the game when gens are powered. There's no escaping and there's no way to wake up (except maybe sabotaging but lets be real.. most toolboxes won't last that long and not everyone will have one nor will they have time to sabotage a hook if Freddy knows where they are and is coming). So if there was a time to implement an alternative method to waking up... it's when EVERYONE is in the dream world but it would and should still be challenging somehow.

  • As far as survivors refusing to leave goes... let the killer exit the gates to end the game. Easy fix.

  • You can't claim that a survivor held the game hostage at a hatch standoff because the killer could end it at ANY time by hitting the survivor (and not be greedy wanting a 4k). The killer is responsible for how long a hatch standoff lasts just as much as a survivor is. That's not even considering the fact that the survivor had to find and/or reach the hatch before the killer. Yes, if there was a standoff there was a good chance the survivor would escape but there was also a chance the survivor wouldn't. With the new End Game there is no chance if the hatch is closed and the killer knows where the last survivor is or if the gates are close together. The End Game is the true definition of holding the game hostage because a survivor can do NOTHING if knocked down but wait for it to be over (similar to being trapped in the basement).

  • Just a "little bit" harder. lol Yeah, okay. With how fast killers move they'll find the hatch and close it before a single gen is completed and that's without considering ruin or any other perks that slow down repair times.

  • Why should the killer be entitled to a 4k? The last survivor didn't underperform. That's why they're the LAST survivor. They deserve a better chance since the odds are now highly stacked against them.

  • If you were the last survivor then nothing about the match was super easy. Everyone died and the LAST survivor managed to make it to the end. They deserve better than a nearly guaranteed loss because gates are too close, killers too fast, and there are no obstacles to obscure the red lights that killers can see on gates from halfway across the map. If you think making it to the end to be last survivor was easy, then you're being ridiculous. Their team just got slaughtered and the killer already has 3 kills. Now the game basically promises 4.

  • Why is it bad the hatch standoff was slightly in the survivors favor? That didn't guarantee the survivor getting out. First the survivor had to find the hatch and not be found by the killer first, which happened a lot. Then they had to time jumping in just right or they could be pulled out.

If a survivor makes it to end and there's a hatch standoff then they deserved the chance to escape. They were the LAST survivor. The killer slaughtered their team and got 3 kills. Now the killer is almost promised a 4k except in very rare situations. It's not fair because once the hatch is closed the survivor has to power a gate. Killers are much faster than survivors. Spirit, billy, nurse, wraith, and legion (might be missing some) can get across a map in the blink of an eye. Michael is also fast and he can stare at you then one hit you down and so can anyone that has NOED (which is just ridiculous in an end game situation now). Killers don't even have to go all the way to a gate to see if its even been touched. There are bright red lights that they can see halfway across the map since there's rarely anything to obstruct the view.

Killers are now being handed survivor kills on diamond encrusted platters. I've played a lot of games and I've seen only one person escape end game and that was because they picked a key up from the ground that their mori'd teammate had.

The last survivor struggled to make it to the end. Nothing about it was easy. They deserve more of a chance then End game gives them.

  • It's not the same as a hatch standoff at all. If you're the last survivor... you're the LAST survivor. That means all other survivors have been hooked. The killer just got three kills. It's hard enough living to the end of the game and escaping solo. At least when it was a hatch standoff killer and survivor both had a chance to win. Why should the killer get a nearly guaranteed 4k? Killers don't have to run all the way to each gate to see if its actively being powered up. They can see the red lights from across the map or from on a hill. Then you have extremely fast killers like billy, spirit, wraith (when invisi), etc that can cover the distance from gate to gate in the blink of an eye.

I was in a match where I watched the last survivor (I died on hook because there was no possible way we were both escaping against the wraith) went to a gate when I died, opposite of where the hatch was (which the killer closed immediately) and tried to open it. The killer got to him and tried to carry him to a hook but he escaped twice and still stood no chance. I've been in countless matches where the last survivor just sits there waiting to die because there's no point. I was in a match where I was last with the huntress and she knocked me down and left me there to go close the hatch, and then stood there until the entity killed me. Then in another game and many I've watched people who are actively jumping into the hatch get interrupted by the killer closing the hatch and are just done for. Why is the killer favored and get the win by default in that scenario?

Anyone who thinks getting the hatch for survivor was easy is ridiculous. That survivor just watched their team get slaughtered and has this ONE chance to live, which may or may not work out depending on whether or not the killer is good or not.

Hatch should be invisible to killers until it opens. Then they would at least have to find it and can't go straight to it to close it.

  • I have the issue and can't play. Eastern USA (Virginia).

  • I'm with Arisquelle. Two killer dailies and two survivor dailies would be ideal. As far as something similar to "kill by you own hands" goes, I would suggest "cleanse a hex totem" for 60k BP. Hex totems aren't incredibly rare but can be challenging to get to before other players and also it would slow down gen progression since it gives a survivor an alternative goal with a worthy reward. I can see why it might irritate killers to have hex totems targeted like that but most survivors will go for them anyway, so I doubt there would be any significant difference in gameplay.

Another suggestion I have is to add more to the variety of dailies. I feel like I get the same few over and over again. Stun a killer could be one for survivors, break x # of pallets could be another for killer, blind a killer, knock down x # of survivors or x # of times, killers could get: chase survivor for x number of seconds (sorry if this exists already), cleanse x # of totems (maybe one day killers will be able to "waste" time rebuilding totems, which would slow down gameplay [my idea would be that gen progression would be greatly slowed while this is done so killer isn't gen rushed and survivors would know its happening but perhaps the killer could pick the location so survivors can't just run over and destroy it] so that could be one), maybe use different perks on different chars. I could go on but I'll spare you since it would all revolve around basic gameplay actions anyway. xD
