skull merchants tome was utter #########, the only reason it didnt make her worse is because it provided absolutely no meaningful information.
but i am wondering how their stories will go, considering their entire lives were covered in their character bios.
Haddie lore is basically on hold for now it seems while Saku gets the spotlight
Feng and Slinger got the last two "minor character" entries, so maybe we'll get Oni in this one.
Skull Merchant tome wasn’t that bad tbh, it kinda solidified her hunting + murder style and while it still didn’t add much, it made her cooler so idc lmao.
Saku/Red crane is definitely the new Haddie atm. So dissapointing that Haddie is taking the backseat.
Feng being a minor entry is dissapointing because she DESPERATELY needs a full tome, her cosmetics give her more character than her Base lore.
-
there’s definitely a lot of Skull Merchant players that 3 gen and it’s boring but it’s usually not completely uncounterable, but it does require coordination (which is hard in solo queue but that’s a given). Especially if the player plays in the EXACT way that everyone describes her, it would be so easy to counter because she would just keep circling between gens. JUST DO SEPERATE GENS DON’T DO THE SAME ONE TOGETHER.
although some of ya’ll just DC against her for no reason other than “me no like drone woman” because i ran a full chase build on her and i had a match where i had no drones on a gen (and the survivor’s weren’t even bad at looping mind you) and they DC’d when i downed them and i hadn’t even kicked a gen once that match.
also, unless you suck at skill checks (cough cough overcharge), all the good gen slowdown options in the game currently require downs or hooks WHICH SHE SHOULDN’T BE GETTING IF YOU’RE GOOD.
-
This is gonna be a really abstract pick, but if the devs don’t hold back, an “identity V” chapter would work wonders aesthetically.
best option for the killer would be Orpheus as with how vital he is to the game’s plot and could have some cool aesthetic potential with floating text and shattered glass.
There’s quite a few options for the survivors: Emma Woods would be a good pick because she’s kinda the icon of the game. But i think the most logical/best picks would either be Alice since she’s basically the new protagonist and is very vital to the plot/lore, or they could also have Orpheus’ younger self as a survivor, so we could finally have a chapter with the killer and survivor being the same person (just alternate).
YES IM AWARE IDENTITY V ISN’T REALLY A HORROR GAME ON THE SURFACE BUT THE STORY MODE IS GREAT AND WE COULD USE SOMETHING LIKE IT IN AESTHETICS.

Great Killer. He's strong and very demanding to play, also great art.
Gabriel is cool and his perks are okay.
The more I see it, the more I appreciate the map.
Idk, i wouldn’t say he’s strong, demanding yes but not rewarding like Nurse, Blight, twins etc. Because in most scenario’s playing as him, i could just be playing Skull Merchant instead.
calling Gabriel’s perks “okay” is an understatement considering, Made for This is busted beyond belief, scavenger is an extremely underrated perk and trouble shooter gives temporary mind game immunity on certain pallets making it a really strong tool for good players.
Also Gabriel’s lore is SOOOOOOOO dry, IT EVEN HAS GLARING PLOT HOLES. Just when my hope replenished with how good merchant’s tome was only for Gabriel and Singularity’s lore to be the most stale pieces of things i’ve ever read is so dissapointing.
Map looks amazing, but plays like Garbage. And as much as i love the art team’s work, if a map plays like garbage, it plays like garbage, can’t solve it with a pretty coat of paint.
-
The most truthful comment here. Art team works so hard everytime and always delivers the best meanwhile gameplay team is in a giant struggle.

Better than Tools of Torment and Forged in Fog
Singularity's design is great, his power pretty decent
Gabriel's cool, not massively into his perks but they aren't bad perks except scavenger, that perk got overnerfed
Ya’ll underrate scavenger, use it properly and it is ridiculously strong still.

Are we forgetting billy as super strength? Plus hag is literally just a stick lady. Death Slinger is fair though if he misses, you probably end him before he reloads, but if he hits you your dead.
Death slinger’s gun is non-lethal lorewise, so MAYBE if you’re strong enough to take the bayonet or break free, you can beat him (especially since he has a leg brace).
Billy has super strength yes, but he isn’t very smart nor is he extremely durable.

Freddy, Doctor and soon twins are getting/have had reworks.

I do not really like it. 30 second is less time then 45 second claw traps. 6 meter of detection is worse then knight's guards in terms of detection. The knight's guard are 8 meter of detection and they barely ever detect any survivors when used for patrolling.
the activation bonus are almost entirely irrelevant in chase until 2nd drone. so big nerfs. so even more incentive to 3 gen because chase is worse. the drone has 20 second activation time so now the power is almost completely irrelevant in chase.
add-on are weaker for chase.
10 drones is as many drones as hag's traps. the skull merchant might better at 3 gen because you could a huge wall of drones kinda like hag has huge web of traps. this might be more annoying to play against then what it is. here is rough sketch with my terrible drawing skills.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SCQVDLRYJBQ0/image.png
skull merchant needs no changes. it is entirely learn to play issue on the survivor end.
I do see the complaints, i was being a bit safe on numbers because a bit worried of the opression being a bit too much. And i can see the increased incentive to 3 gen, but she also does gain a larger incentive to chase and her drones can still deploy rapidly, so if a survivor transitions then they have to commit because they can’t go back.
although still with her being encouraged to 3 gen more, it does become weaker right?
If you have any buff sugestions please let me know
then again, i agree she needs no changes but i wanted to try and create a skull merchant concept that people might like more.

I'd put Twins higher up tbh, Charlotte looks strong as hell and they've probably picked up some nasty tricks from surviving on the run for so long.
they have strength yes, but they’re probably going to be a lot more scared than you are plus with the amount of trauma they’ve built, if you even manage to find a weapon you’ll probably scare them off. Although Charlotte is definitely not weak, she’s a very capable survivor with what her tome lore mentions.
so i’d say she might eventually just back off and nobody dies. But they still definitely have tricks, although Victor would be very weak without the entity buffing him (or he’d just be dead) but they have some tricks, like how Charlotte jumped on top of a witch hunter and just bit out his throat.

I think in his lore they say that he's made out of a material that is more resistant and lightweight than anything on Earth, so I dont think he could be easily diassembled
suppose that’s true, although it’s still a bit messy because i’m unsure if the fusion with organic Human parts actually changes some of his attributes.
-
It was confirmed to be scrapped in the recent reddit Q&A
built in mori’s are still being worked on, but the system implemented in that PTB is scrapped.
-
Potential Energy + Deja Vu, then pick either Hyperfocus and Stake out if you want full anti 3 gen, or run something like Sprint burst + built to last to avoid getting hit and having some more toolbox charges.
Deja Vu is definitely one of potential energy’s best synergies because potential energy is really good against 3 gens.
-
that’s usually just the structure of most matches, the first chase in a match is usually the deciding factor of how matches go.
it’s not really your fault, sometimes the survivors get lucky with gen spawns and sometimes the maps have ridiculous tile rng.
just always expect 2 gens to pop within the first 3 mins, if not, the survivor team is probably gen allergic.

In that case then maybe Twins could be taken on, so could Nurse if you avoid a blink. Amanda could be as she's far from the perfect disciple of John Kramer and is quite rash in how she approaches things.
Then there are some that are complete easy if we take away their entity powers. Spirit without her entity powers is dead. She called on the entity to keep her alive. So is Plague as she called out for a god to save her from dying. Then there's Legion who's stronger without the entity as they can all be together and a four on one isn't in the ones favour in this case.
I've a feeling without the entity controlling some killers, some of these wouldn't be fighting us. Deathslinger clearly has morales in his own lore. So does Billy, and potentially Wraith and Trapper depending on how far they are insane.
Then there are some like Trickster and Ghostface who the average person is hopeless against cause if we are being lore accurate, they're stalking you before fighting you and they'll get you when you aren't ready.
characters like Ghostface can definitely surprise attack you, but they have the weakness of having nothing going for them if are able to react fast enough, bulkier characters are a bigger threat or Skull Merchant who’s weapon is nuts strong and her drones make it basically impossible to see her coming (or for you to surprise her).
also understandable that quite a few of the killers wouldn’t attack unprovoked, but it’d be interesting to still guess how you would fair.
-
@NoOneKnowsNova said:
The average person is not surviving any of these. The only one I think that's up for debate is Legion if you're taking on one of them, and then I feel like Joey and Susie wouldn't even need to be fought if it were them. Otherwise nah we all are dying.
Let’s pretend these average humans actually have fighting capability 🤷
Pig is legit just a lady in a pig mask, the worst she’ll do is maybe get a lucky throat slice or sedate you.
Twins are probably more scared than you are.

Im pretty sure bubba would kill normal human. He killed like 20 people on the bus in latest movie on netflix and is very durable and big guy.
That netflix movie was really stupid. It’s one of my favourite horror movies because of how ridiculous it is, but nobody in that movie was smart.
DBD bubba is also based of the original (if im not mistaken). IIRC he doesn’t really take any severe hits in that movie, so it’s hard to judge how durable he is in there.

Singularity is ten times stronger than a human. For context, a gorilla is six times stronger and can quite happily turn you into person-jam. I don't see that being a maybe.
I mean understandable, i just thought because it’s a robot, you could expose it or atleast attempt some kind of strategy against it. Because it’s also hard to pinpoint Singularities strength compared to other real world animatronics because a lot of them currently aren’t very durable, but this one’s from the future.
judging singularity is such an awkward cookie because he only killed 2 people from direct attacks, his other 7 kills weren’t even physical attacks.

The heartbeat UI can be used to determine the closeness of the Killer without paying attention, for some.
You don't even need to hear to be able to 99 SB and yet, you think that's fine but needing to find a vault location isn't?
Either SB is also an issue or Lithe isn't an issue. It's activation and usage condition is more difficult than SB's.
But Lithe is much better usually unless it’s a stealth killer because effective teams can get better use of Lithe as opposed to SB because the 99-ing may indirectly cause to less gens being done.
now if we’re only talking about high level play then I suppose SB is also an issue. But usually it isn’t as most people use SB right as chase starts and then you can just not commit. (Although I do still think perks should be judged with higher skill levels unless the perk is a meme).

No disrespect, but all of this is nonsense, and I knew this would eventually come up once DH was nerfed into oblivion.
I'm tired of both sides trying to take everything even remotely fun out of this game.
I don’t want these perks to be perks to be mega nerfed or anything.
Lithe I just want slightly less effective (maybe 5-10% less speed) because I feel the activation is too easy for it’s effect.
overcome should be overhauled because I think it encourages boring gameplay from killer side.
I play both sides, I want this game to be a healthy as it can be on both sides.

Holding SB isn't that hard, considering how popular the new heartbeat UI is.
idk what the Heartbeat UI has to do with 99-ing sprint burst though, I use it as I am hard of hearing but I don’t see how it can help at 99-ing more effectively.
i respectfully ask if you could enlighten me.
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
I can understand your argument behind Lithe, but Overcome does have a huge downside - if you're already injured, it doesn't do anything, meaning it doesn't help you at all if you're being tunneled.
I suppose that is true, tunneling should really be addressed though because that counters like, everything.
-
@Pulsar said:
I think all three are fine as they are.
Lithe requires you to find a vault.
Overcome requires you to get hit.
Finding a vault isn’t really that hard 90% of the time though, especially with WoW being very popular currently.
not saying Overcome is broken, but I think it encourages boring gameplay.
-
tbh, I would say neither.
but I’d atleast prefer medkits because COH has been the reason of so many losses for me cuz I can’t snowball/pressure because they’ll get healed back up in under 30 seconds. Atleast medkits would eventually run out and not keep the game hostage without the killer needing to essentially throw.

Plus she started as the Predator and had to be changed when licensing was lost. This shortened her development time. It will be interesting to see her once she gets Nerfed. They could tweak her and make her fun.
this is flat out not true lmao.
people that still believe this theory have straight up lost it, i’m actually dumbfounded.
licensed are secured months in advance and a license holder can’t just pull out last minute unless BHVR hadn’t fully secured it.
ntm, i don’t think ToT would’ve had a full 1 minute trailer if it was “rushed”
-
Yes actually, I have played her a lot since release I can easily tell you that playing against her is actually fun to against when you know what you’re doing.
her pre-mini rework version was boring yes, but her new version is actually fun, since now drones cannot be spammed because while a clawtrap is on a survivor, she won’t get the drone back.
she’s counterable if you play smart, if you harass gens properly, if you don’t just give up. You can beat her. Especially since OverBrine meta is dead.
-
idk why everyone says Skull Merchant matches are 45+ minutes?
Skull Merchant has been my fav killer she came out and I can understand these claims before here mini-rework, since really she was forced to make match 30+ mins to win.
But since her mini-rework, all my matches with her have been 10-20 minutes consistently with the only reason matches getting longer than that being COH (which has been nerfed meaning not as much of an issue anymore).
-
for me it’s No Way Out or Franklins.
No Way out requires you already have a good match to get it’s fullest making it extremely lackluster compared to something like NOED. It’s a good option but I’d rather run more consistent gen slowdown than have a perk stall me a little bit during late game.
survivors hate franklins despite it just getting rid of your items, you still have your 4 other perks and the killer is now only at 3. Because relying on items is not a great way to play Surv imo, Franklins is frustrating yes (especially during challenges), but it’s pointless 90% of the time.

I don't like this idea. Butchering killer because some players can't handle them? Ok. I have a little bit worse reflexes - I want accessibility option for game to always hit great skillchecks for me - counts also for merciless storm.
You see the problem? Like don't get me wrong. I understand that it sucks to have problem with hearing. I would even be perfectly OK if people had option to sign off from certain killers (plague and clown because of some phobias). I get why other people don't want that (blight and nurse having problems find a game), but it still makes more sense to me. But basically destroying the killer for everyone else is... Not ideal to say the least.
Also, the killer (basekit) is perfect the way it is. The only thing that needs adjustment are those 3 OP addons (and if you have spare time and u don't feel like fixing burning issues - she also has a few totally worthless addons too)
I feel like that’s a bad comparison with reflexes and sound. (But if reflexes really were that bad, they could add a visual indicator before skill checks).
also, i don’t want to butcher her, I want to change her to have more fun counterplay instead of: “Predict, hit or miss, wait for power, repeat.” Because I think like 90% of the community can agree spirit is boring af to play against.
also, would something like visual directional sound indicators really butcher? It wouldn’t even tell distance just direction like everyone else can hear, would that be so bothersome?
-
I’ve been playing her nonstop these past few weeks since her release and I’ll say: No.
she’s in a great spot with surprisingly good add-on variety and has lots of synergy potential.
really the only bad thing about her is that winning against her feels slightly impossible if she is able to tunnel someone out quickly because she requires effective teamwork to counter.
-
the thing though, is his power still has weaknesses.
his dashes are just ok at map pressure, they help you get around faster sure, but you’re still putting them on cooldown, ntm the charging time and the fatigue after the dashes (and his big TR means you can easily hear him coming so he can barely surprise you).
the vault’s over object still requires him to charge his dash and there’s not many pallets where vaulting comes in handy because he might aswell break them because most common tiles give the survivor enough time to go around anyways.
if you have no item (or are willing to drop your item) you can pick up his spray ahead of time.
if you are really unable to dodge a hit, try and force a basic attack to prevent infection since up close dashes are awkward.
even if you have full infection in chase, that probably means he’s been chasing you for a while, since you lose infection progress when being hooked anyways.
Wesker is definitely better than the average killer, but he’s not as insane as some people make it out to be.

Maybe it would, but I don’t want it to be too overpowered for survivors. There needs to be some kind balancing.
the problem is that with her power it becomes hard to make an accessibility option without it hurting her too much. Unless they slightly rework her by remove the directional sound and instead give her visual cues.

You like playing with perks that are useless outside of incredibly niche circumstances? What?
Also I don't see a problem with Pentimento becoming better. It's a good effect, but highly counterable since somebody on your team is guaranteed to know where it is. Killers being able to break a boon then light Pentimento without another perk isn't that crazy.
yes indeed, I enjoy running weird stuff because I am confident in my skills and enjoy variety instead of running the same things over and over because it makes me rely on them too much.

I don't think she gives Survivors a warning except the phasing sound, it isnt TR related.-
What if bHVR gave the heart a chilling Icy Color when Spirit is Phasing nearby, this took me less than min in Photoshop.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KHSX0IM7U13C/image.png
I think this would also help the counter play @leviivel was looking for?
while this would definitely help, I’d like some way to tell the direction. Since that’s an extra important part to her counter play.
-
@FFirebrandd said:
Here's a better idea... make the other boons more like CoH then give killers the ability to break boon totems base kit.
Let's be clear here... with a 14s setup time, your team need to get multiple uses out of a boon for it to be worth it. You will basically never get that on boons that need itself, a survivor, and a killer all in the same area. It'll just get snuffed. Or it's abusing elevation differences which is bad for other reasons.
while this could work, i think that partly kills the fun of Boons (for me personally), I think making the blessing faster at base but putting a temporary speed penalty for blessing after a totem is snuffed would make them more enticing (or maybe make snuffing a full second longer to give survivors more distance).
also base-kit totem breaking might lead to a pentimento meta, and god knows nobody wants to sit through gens with 27 extra seconds.

Spirit doesn’t need a rework. Just adjust her 3 problem child addons and everything will be okay.
with a Spirit rework I mean more of a Legion/Doctor style rework, not Freddy style. Give her some stat changes and add-on updates or just give her some accessibility :)

From what I’ve heard, the visual heartbeat they implemented should tell you how close she is in phase. It doesn’t tell you exactly where she’s coming from though, but it can be a useful tool if you’re hard if hearing.
Unsure if this works since that would kinda go against the husk’s terror radius but I appreciate the tip nonetheless.

I mean, for this you would basically need to also give her more clues.
I think she is in decent state.
Like sucks to be you, but I don't think killer should be nerfed for not even 1% of survivors.
I’m not saying she should be nerfed, more or less reworked. Change her numbers and make her less atrocious and more accessible. Plus, she’s easily a top 5 killer so slightly hurting her wouldn’t be seen as “unfair” (although Blight and Nurse need nerfs a bit more).
-
@Gandor said:
It doesn't matter. CoH is already dead after last nerf. U don't need to change it. It won't be used either way
it’s far from dead, it definitely fell from grace, but it’s still extremely strong in coordinated play.
-
Dead Hard should just be completely replaced by a different perk, it’s been problematic since it’s release and they can never find a great way to change it. Now it’s OTR but worse.
-
a small issue with this is that it would reduce the value of cosmetics because others can’t see them, this would just be a loss of revenue for BHVR. If you’re really THAT bothered about some shirtless outfits despite horror movies killing off half naked people constantly, i don’t see the thematic issues.
-
her very rare head piece should’ve been default, it’s so good looking. From the really nice white hair that keeps her rich elegance in tact to the intimidating white eyes and the well detailed mask, it screams fancy femme fatale, which is partly what their goal was for her.
A lot of her does feel very scattered as if the design, lore, art and gameplay teams where all bickering/fighting and so they didn’t wanna communicate a lot. And so we got this random rich girl that has a quarter of lore not even about her that doesn’t even go into her tech side with perks that make her seem like this aggressive hunter (even though she meant to be a quick stealthy strike character), with drones made out of skull because ######### IT have her be inspired by her father’s manga’s (i like this idea but it could’ve been done so much better). I’ve personally defended her before from people hating her visuals because 98% of her haters purely hated her because she was too human or “not scary” despite Wesker having been the most praised killer in a long ass time.
I like that we finally have full evil female killer, her sound design is awesome and i like that we finally have a more sexy female killer (not attracted to women myself but Trickster could’ve used some competition).
-
Tunnel or Camp all you wish, the survivor’s feelings shouldn’t matter. Really, if you hear a Boon go off that’s when you know you should just tunnel/proxy camp because COH severally ruins your chances of winning if you “play nice” when the survivors are capable of looping.
-
They should just revert the clawtrap nerf and remove the undetectable delay, that would give her some kind of decency. Or give her drones some kind off flash that can blind people maybe? Although there is much more they could do with her, Her power is extremely polished just not very strong currently.

Considering how much work has gone into getting to P100, I do think a skin is a fair reward.
The thing though is, it would have to be a recolour, because even with the effort it takes to get there, it would be too much of a hassle for BHVR to make unique non-recolor outfits. Considering such little people have P100 and licensing would also make it difficult to add skins.
-
Just a few random perks that are helpful:
Plaything with pentimento is quite helpful for pressure. Since it gives the survivors a lot of micromanagement.
shattered hope is sometimes just an absolute must because circle of healing and ESPECIALLY exponential really hurt twins. Plus shattered hope also helps with the plaything plus pentimento build incase the survivors are greedy and Boon your plaything totems.
perks that help people stay injured like sloppy are also extremely helpful because twins thrive of injury pressure, which can also make thanataphobia a decent choice if you’re up for it.
gift of pain and pain resonance are good choices if you’re able to get consistent pressure.

Unrewarding on both sides? People parrot this but I'm pretty sure most knight players find his power fun and rewarding. I know I do. Otherwise I'd play someone else.
Sounds like you just salivate over knight nerfs. If he couldn't chase in conjunction with his guards then the only thing he'd have is holding a three gen. Taking a B tier killer down to D tier because his power does stuff, sometimes.
Don’t get me the wrong way, i don’t want knight to get nerfed. he could really use some buffs if anything, but i want the chases of knight to feel more interactive instead of “run this direction or get hit”
i love playing as knight but im sure people have a lot of frustration against him.

Going around pallets is a bug.
Slowing them down when they go through vaults would also be a disaster. It'd take the one thing that the guards are any good at and make it a complete joke.
The hell, that’s a bug? Odd and surprising considering people were wanting that.
also, realising this now, yeah the guards would be pointless if they were bad with vaults, but i would appreciate them having a different kind of counter play, or if they were to add a slow, make their base speeds faster.
