hello everyone, i am a new player i got dbd about 3 weeks ago and i am just wondering how people think this game is survivor sided? killer seems way easier and way stronger than survivors

So you are angry at red rank survivors for being abusive to you as killer and your solution to this is to go and abuse other killer players in the same way and that's "paying it forward" as you put it.

You're not cruel, you're childish, and not ready to play competitive games with others.

We all know that one guy we don't invite to boardgame night because they are an insufferable bad sport, tantrum thrower and sore loser, don't be that guy. Nobody likes that guy.

Youre acting really childish right now. Either get better at the game, stop complaning about nonsense, or stop playing

Come join me I have hatch offerings keys and haddonfield maps to burn through 😁

I am not angry...i am playing survivor competitively as has been shown to me by sweat squads. Why not it is just a game as people have told me in after game chat...I want ez games as well now...you are welcome to play killer in my absence. I am just preparing killers to the next level😎

EVERY PERK TAKES A SLOT to be fair and most need requirements for a payoff. I don't hate the perk, it clearly is being overused in the higher rank games. It's no the perk, it's more of the reliance of said perk

It can help in end game by setting up a three gen situation. You can be offendsive till it's gone and then be defensive. It is worth that ONE SLOT to the point I get it very often when I go play survivor.

And with hex perks about to get slaughtered with the new dlc what else can a killer really use...I know I am going to be gunning for ruins and devour hopes with those new perks

I'm normally rank 1 btw, but rank reset bug sent me back to rank 10 and I have a full time job so haven't been playing much. Survivors deal with it all the time so it is not just on the killer side.

Yeah I feel you...hated wasting my time not having fun so i am playing survivor for gg ez fun still brown ranks ...I make sure to die after getting as many people to safety and give those killers their one kill

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    You're cruel.

Cruel? Been dumb enough to keep playing killer after ranking to green ranks and getting red ranks constantly. Been trolled at least half of those games so why not pay it forward if there isn't a casual mode not my fault...just playing with what is given to me🤣

  • Burning those the game maps now with speed burst making the killer chase me and using every pallet as much as possible while they get gen rushed 🤣 man why was I a killer main for so long

  • @Sindel_Lover said:

I think I will. Played more games after that, and they were pretty much the same as the screenshot I posted. I don't find survivor fun at all, so playing something more enjoyable would probably be smart.

Hopefully soon...that or they just replace killer mains with ai bots🤣

  • The first tunnel and face camp on the survivor by a sweaty bubba or the first swf that loops their nemesis to no end while getting gen rushed is going to make them stay and get good or say not for me an uninstall

  • @HaunterofShadows said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2217237#Comment_2217237

thats why I made this, to tell people to avoid those behaviours while we get more players.

So they will get nice players the first couple of weeks and then get thrown in the deep end of swf on coms and sweaty killers it is dishonest...that is just being cruel to them...the intent is nice but wait until they play in the evening hours

  • @Kate_Main_01 said:

By the time they get there they'll hopefully be hooked.... Ha.

But in all seriousness, I'm a Survivor who doesn't belong in the red ranks who is now there. But I love the game so even though I get stomped I stick around. There's plenty to like about the game. 😊

You are one of the good survivors...I commend you for that as most red ranks treat killer mains worse😊 but realistically new survivors are going to get tunneled and camped relentlessly and new killers are going to get looped blinded and bodyblocked by swf on coms

  • @Kate_Main_01 said:

Hi all! Survivor main here! This question might sound salty and/or bait-y but I genuinely want to know something! This is not an anti-Killer post, this is not an anti-perk post, this is not meant to provoke anything negative.

Do you enjoy chases? Be honest!

So often I've been seeing Starstruck paired with the terror radius increase perk (which is a clever build!) or the Michael 'Exposed' perk. Those Killers who didn't have that (and most who did) also have Sloppy Butcher.

Now let me clarify something! I've played this game for a long, long time. I understand that a shorter chase means quicker return to applying gen pressure. I'm not asking for reasons behind the tactic, I get it. I've just noticed that at the rank I'm at now chases are like... Not a thing. At all. I'm seeing red rank tier 1 Survivors run for 5-15 seconds max and get downed. And my casual playing self sure isn't doing any better. 🤣 In 23 rounds tonight I saw two Survivors escape and one only got it by a pure chance hatch. Every other one was a very short round 4k with basically no chases.

Chases are my favorite thing about this game, I really love seeing well executed plays where Killers mindgame me and lure me to a hit. Of course I am excited if I manage to outsmart them and escape. But between 7/23 of my rounds tonight being against Bubba, 5 against Spirit (4 who had Stridor), and a surprising amount of Exposed perk, this was personally one of my least enjoyable nights I've had in DbD. Not because anyone was doing anything wrong but because the chase was ending with one hit right out the gate - it was boring.

I know so much of this is because the game railroads even casual or not skilled players into red ranks where people are good and do play seriously, but just... It shocks me how little Killers seem to want to do any kind of chasing.

I'd also love to know what your favorite part of being a Killer is since I rambled a bit about my favorite part of Survivor! 😊Happy gaming, everyone! <3

Long chases lead to the killer losing and losing even quicker without regression perks...also most loopers like to tbag and clicky click at higher ranks and killers would rather ignore those chases and rightfully so

  • @Kate_Main_01 said:

I'm so glad someone posted this!

A lot of people are probably going to try this game for the first time with the RE chapter and could be a huge boost to our current community. Shorter wait times (which are pretty short lately, hooray!), new Survivors/Players with different perspectives - I really want to see a whole new tide of people fall in love with this game and become fans with us!

Until they rank up and see what awaits...if only there was a casual mode and a ranked mode

Thank you for responding with information. I sure hope it's relatively soon. Guess I'll just weather the storm till then.

I would say just stop playing killer the more people that do that the more effort they will put in mmr when more people complain about the long matchmaking

  • Those new survivor perks will make hex perks more unreliable good luck guys I know i will abuse them

  • @w00ters said:

I just started playing this game ~2 weeks ago, and peaked as a rank 9 killer. 80%+ of my games are 2-4 rank 1-2 survivors that are toxic as all #########, and even when I just say ######### it and open exit gates& stare at the wall so they will just leave, most of the time they wait til the very last second of egc to leave, and when I ask why bother extending it and not exiting, the response is to "troll/be toxic". Maaayyyybe 1 red rank surv will apologize about matchmaking/be not a dickhead, but that is the incredible small minority. I even tried de-ranking down to ~15 to get REASONABLE games(not expecting 4 sacrifices per game, but a game where i'm playing on a somewhat even playing field), but even there I'm still getting many red rank survivors that are thousands of hours on the game and giant dicks in the way that they play.

From searches, this seems to be prevalent and not a unique experience, and I guess i'm just gonna uninstall because I didn't start playing this game years ago to be able to actually have a chance and have fun(tried survivor, boring as ######### to me). Like I'm expecting a challenge, not perfect body blocks on first hooking event/constant tbags/everyone is a god at looping and 4 gens will be done before I've even caused 2 health states worth of damage.

I guess have fun with your long queue times on your gen-rushing simulator.

They have been trying to fix it for years it isn't going to change killers are there for survivors to troll...come join the dark side

  • Hiding from killers without whispers is hilarious man was I wrong when it happened to me🤣 you patrol that 3 gen

  • @CoalTower said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2216775#Comment_2216775

I'm quite literally going to do this. It'll be rough for them, but they'll learn that this game is really only a bully simulator.

Better they learn early...bring your keys hatch offerings and haddonfield maps😎 with meta perks

  • It is nice I am going to help my teammates 3 people at the same time?

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

    Good job Matchmaking.

Not sure why you say it like survivors know who they're getting matched up against.

Actually as a rank 20 survivor I am getting rank 20 killers so yeah it is the killer matchmaking that is the problem. Update...yeah I am having a blast my teammates survive I get killed to prevent the pip up as much as possible even gave key and lead them to the hatch...this is fun 3 man escapes are glorious🤣

  • Those new survivor perks need to be used and a lot no Noed or gen regression on my watch

  • @Laluzi said:

Advice I really hope people follow. Save the 'authentic DBD experience' for after people have a chance to like the game. Survivors who get facecamped and hard tunneled at 5 gens and killers who get clicky clicky tbagged for their first few games are going to refund their purchase and not look back.

It is going to happen later on have you seen higher ranks...it is being dishonest to new players

  • Those new survivor perks were put there for a reason they must be used and a lot

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2216716#Comment_2216716

Ah yes, because your money is being wasted if you get outmatched. You still play the game, you still play the content, even if the content you play isnt what you enjoy. You're essentially "wasting" other peoples money because you played against people who disagree with you on the way the game needs to be played.

But the point is to enjoy the game I bought so why not just play survivor and get my money's worth...the killer gets a survivor who will make sure that the others escape and its win win. The killer gits gud quicker and rank up to meet the sweat squads...it is what matchmaking is all about right now😊

  • @CantDeadHarder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2216716#Comment_2216716

if everyone had this mindset, nobody would play the game. Everyone would purposely derank to get more "fun" matches. I understand that high level gameplay can get boring since you kind of have to run certain perks to win and it gets repetitive, but I assure you deranking only adds fuel to the fire. No rank would have "fun" matches in the end, as everyone has deranked.

But killers already aren't playing the game as much because of what I have described. Don't worry I won't play evenings it is too much of a lobby simulator right now..i am going to use all the hatch offerings and keys i have collected and haddonfield maps and just going 2 treat myself...going on a no stress vacation. Maybe afterwards I will look at killer but eh.

  • I don't want to rank up...as killer I just wanted to be matched vs my own ranks and it has been months of getting trolled and bullied I just reached my breaking point...so like i said i am paying it forward it is just a game after all and ranks don't matter as I have been told.

  • @CantDeadHarder said:

ruin other people's experience because of matchmaking and toxic players, become the very thing you hate.

All you are doing is continuing the cycle. I could understand maybe wanting to stay in green ranks or something, but if you are going to stay in gray ranks that isn't exactly a flex. If anything your skill potential will just go down the drain if you aren't trying to rank up. But you do you I guess.

Yup it isn't getting fixed and I want to have fun again so why fight it the sweats showed me the error of playing killer don't want the money I spent on the game to go to waste

  • That's to bad...it would have helped with the grind somewhat.

  • Exactly...this is the reason I shelved the twins and trickster for the time being after buying them. It is a joke trying to learn a new killer vs swf

  • @nomad5926 said:

Honestly at this point I don't even mind getting run around on as killer. I want to drop back to like 18 so bad.

Yeah it is getting bad...I try to avoid this game and play something else in the evening after 7pm

  • Ruin undying is more useful in a full hex build with haunted grounds retribution or thrill of the hunt with higher mobility killers

  • @Shroompy said:

I dont, unless they add a ranked mode

Yeah a casual and ranked mode would be awesome

  • @UseTheValve said:

I mean even when I was rank bugged to 13 they gave me red rank survivor, ain’t nothing but red rank in this game 🤪. TBH I also welcome mmr, that way I can try other killer sometime.

Yeah killers I haven't touched to try to get those adepts...mostly the registered dlc killers

  • I will raise a glass with you😎

  • Corrupt tells you where to go early game and helps set up a 3 gen for end game most of the time...and it isn't for free you give up a perk slot which weakens you later by helping you in the start to apply pressure and not lose gens immediately to survivors that spawn next to them

  • I just can't wait to see the complaining but I am always paired as a red rank vs other red ranks no more trolling easily🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • @Sweet_Potato said:

New wraith is so boring to play against, so I just dc and deny the killer his hook stages and barbecue points.

I would rather play against spirit than wraith, because with a spirit there is actually some room for 50/50s on pallets. New wraith just hit you on short loops regardless. His uncloak speed boost and lunge is insane, so he is literally teleporting across my screen with 0 reaction time. Even if I guess the direction right I still get hit through the pallet every single time.

This is just bullshit and the same level of fun like pre-nerf Freddy, slugging twins, facecamping Bubba or silent traps hag.

Do u DC vs those killers as well?

  • Running almost perkless as a new survivor or killer would make me question whether I would want to play...the grind is ridiculous

  • @Seanzu said:

It's a lot more fun to win the few matches you get to play than forcibly lengthen a match and possibly lose it all the while the match being boring because you're forcing it's length.

So it's not boring if it goes by quickly? In that case isn't it more fun to play killer and get 2 - 3 times as many matches in the evening?

  • @Yords said:

Well it is their only objective, so what else do you want them to do? Both sides try to win, I don't see why they shouldn't.

But I mean not enjoying the game at all after waiting at least that long or even longer I some cases just to play lobby simulator again?

  • Getting a 4k on haddonfield with padded jaws trapper vs a flashlight squad yeah chase get caught smack anyone near me pick up out of trap on the long grassy fence areas...fun and extra bloodpoints. They also tried vaulting out the window after they disarmed the trap inside the window and got caught on the roof walkway trap after the vault 🤣

  • That elodie scream needs to be silenced

  • Evening killer isn't worth dealing with sweat squads and no incentives give us more bloodpoint or iridescent shards and I will gladly play killer in the evening again

  • @bogwitch69 said:

hey guys, i just wanted to vent about some game mechanics & see if y’all had any advice on how to better deal with them. so, typically i play as both survivor & killer, with a slight bias towards survivor, but recently i’ve lost pretty much all interest in playing killer due to the frequency in which i get paired with SWF. now, i should preface that i don’t actually have a problem with SWF, and i’m not one of those killers who thinks all SWF are bully squads lmao. however, it’s the matchmaking when it comes to SWF that has made the killer experience absolutely exhausting. yesterday i had five games in a row that were all SWF, where at least two of the survivors were red rank. i’m a rank 15 (and pretty much staying there for the time being since i can barely get any hooks, let alone kills, with these groups), so at my current experience level, these teams are pretty much un-counter-able. i don’t wanna start camping & tunneling people, but it’s getting to the point where that’s the only way i can secure kills. any more experienced killers have any tips on how to deal with these groups? i’ve unlocked the teachable hag & bubba perks so far, & am currently working on getting myers’. also if it helps, i favor the doctor & ghostface right now.

For doc a good build is distressing and using calm addons to hit multiple survivors with your static blast at least one or 2 gen regressing perks corrupt intervention is good for early game or use ruin and undying for gen regression and at least one locator perk like bbq tinkerer whispers or discordance. Learn to use shock to stop survivors at loops before they throw down pallets so you can get hits...hope that helps and keep playing

  • Just thinking out loud and agreeing that pallet jumping near the hatch or exit gates makes me ignore them even more or stare at the wall while I check stuff on my phone

I'm convinced something about dbd brings out the worst in people. I play in a swf and they can be a toxic at times. I don't agree with it and I hate being toxic. If everyone is OK I leave immediately and don't join in on the toxic behavior. But outside the game they are kind and nice people who have been good friends with me. I love them. But I'm always asking what about dbd brings out the worst in them.

    And what do they say?

  • @miketheratguy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2188725#Comment_2188725

I totally agree. Again, I don't want to pick sides, but in my relatively low game time (500 hours maybe) I've not ever had a killer be rude to me after the game. Not once. Never. A couple were kind of pricks during the game itself but usually nothing too serious. Many of the survivors I've gone against (or even played with), on the other hand, seemed very entitled to not only win the match but also mock the killer and scold anyone in their ranks who didn't play the way that they wanted them to.

I'm 43 years old. Junior high was 30 years ago for me and even then I didn't act like so many of today's players do. I don't get it. I don't understand the rise that some people get from trying to make a multiplayer game worse for the other players. I don't understand the joy that some people feel from trying to ruin other people's day. It doesn't hurt my feelings, it just makes me shake my head. Like "wow, someone actually felt the need to say that. I wonder what his home life is like". Then I just get depressed that each and every one of them help to keep this game in a perpetual cycle of negativity. It's so unnecessary. I play games to get AWAY from irritating people.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2188731#Comment_2188731

Same here. I'm decent as a survivor but know that I still need improvement (especially with looping, which I despise and have no interest in, but know that I HAVE to get better at because so much of the game revolves around it). If I'm a killer and try to catch someone who's a great looper I usually just give up and go look for something else to do rather than waste my time learning nothing more than how popular teabagging is.

And the sad thing is with less and less killers the newer killers are going to be lobbied against higher ranks and possibly get driven from the game which will make lobbies worse for survivors...a friend of mine refuses to play killer anymore and will only play survivor after dealing with back to back clicky click squads using haddonfield and swamp offerings

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2188671#Comment_2188671

They like that, because it makes them feel powerful. Being able to make other people quit is funny to them and they justify it by saying they weren't cut out for DBD and should go play the Sims instead (if they didn't feel like putting up with complete bastards every game.)

And when the new killers they do this to don't quit... getting thrashed encourages you to become better. Getting made fun of encourages you to play nasty and punish the other side - to get back at them for treating you this way. Which contributes so much towards this cycle of survivors hating killers and killers hating survivors, and justifying everything they do because the other side is worse. Some of the nastiest people I have met justified their behavior by saying they needed to do it because killers are toxic, or because survivors all run piles of second chance perks and can't git gud on their own so they deserve it - when they were the ones being thoroughly unsportsmanlike without provocation.

I've run into way more awful survivors in game (both as foes and my teammates - I've run into killers that were dicks in postgame chat, and of course I've fallen afoul of BMing basement Bubbas, but more often I run into teammates that ream people out for honest mistakes or just call each other trash without even explaining what they're unhappy about), but while I was on the Steam forums, I met a ton of people who were proud of playing killer as nastily as possible, to the point of their walls of -reps being a point of pride. There is a ton of hostility in this community and it's impossible to avoid even when you go out of your way to play generously, because people are so pissed about their other games that they'll take it out on you.

One bad game makes people go on a punisher craze on the next team like you said...been guilty of it myself not going to lie but try not too

  • @dspaceman20 said:

I have the same feelings as you. I'm a survivor main and I hate the fact that other survivors ate rude to killers. It just makes me feel terrible that they had s bad game because of my team and I feel we responsible. Survivor toxicity is a big problem that not only effect killers but survivors as well.

I mean win but at least stop the tbagging and click baits and if you open the gate just leave is that so hard

1 … 30 31 32 33 34 … 38
