Yeah I mean I really don't like taking sides or generalizing but my own experience has been that 100 percent of the negative behavior / toxicity has come from survivors so far. I feel legitimately embarrassed when I go to escape and everyone but me is doing the teabag dance. I wish I could say to the killer "I apologize for these guys, we're not ALL twelve years old". Similarly any trash talk I've seen in the end-game chat has been from survivors, sometimes even directed at the other survivors.

I know that this doesn't describe every survivor but it's a shame that it's so prevalent. If the reason why survivor matches get significantly less easy to find in the evening because killers just don't feel like dealing with sweaty survivor teams, I honestly can't blame them. Like you said, they're just making the lobbies worse (and therefore making the game worse for everybody) by being that way.

That was one of the reasons I stopped playing in the evening and I have a thicker skin than most cant imagine other people...and I love this game I want it to be better for others

I totally agree. As a survivor main I hate to say this but I'm seeing killers' claims of survivor toxicity backed up more and more all the time.

What kills me is the they make survivor lobbies even worse with this behavior

  • @Laluzi said:

You've got three types of players. When confronted with a killer that is clearly below their skill level, survivors will:

1.) Humor the killer, playing badly enough to give them a chance to get some downs and do some of their objectives. This can unfortunately backfire and end up with the survivor getting camped to death, which new players and frustrated players are both likely to do.

2.) Do the objectives, get out, and queue up for the next game.

3.) Use their near-invulnerability from the killer's ineptitude to make fun of them for as long as possible, dragging out the match to farm them for points, baiting them, going out of their way to deny any hooks or downs the killer does manage to make, and mocking pretty much every move they make every step of the way.

People like feeling powerful. Combine it with an unwillingness to recognize the player on the other side is a real person trying to have fun and not a bot that exists for their amusement, or the kind of sociopathy that actively takes enjoyment in rubbing someone else's face in the dirt, and you see a lot of #3.

And unfortunately they tell me that it has been all 3...wasted their money on the game and said f it went back to playing other games...its like these survivors are trying to run out new killers and kill the game quicker

  • Dropping your items or if I am playing padded jaws trapper keep stepping into my trap when I reset it🤣

Keys nerf/rework is coming, just give them like 2 more years or somthing :)

At very least i want channeling (unlocking) time, so you cant just hop in the hatch in killers face. Key would break in progress (into green one) and hatch would remain open for 30s (maybe 10?) then it closes (no EGC) OR untill first survivor hops in, then it closes without engaging EGC.

Those are all excellent suggestions but yeah a key nerf won't happen for a year I bet if it does🤣

  • Yeah trap loops and your totems as soon as possible you can be down to 4 gens and then start snowballing like crazy...add ons you want a trapper bag and either a one that darkens traps or one that injures survivors who try to disarm your traps...corrupt is a Godsend to give you time to set up and avoid gen rush or try a full totem build ruin haunted grounds undying thrill of the hunt massive fun

  • A key nerf is supposedly coming but I doubt it

  • It is funny...I lobby dodge or DC b4 the match no penalty and I avoid a toxic swf win win...and if it is evening I find a match quicker than them that is funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I usually play solo but when I go full swf we usually see how the killer plays. If hes not too good or chill we start looking for chests etc I practice moonwalk hover around for flashlight saves. I believe theres no need to be toxic like tbagging, spamming flashlight etc but if you consider playing with flashlight to be toxic then I'm afraid im toxic.

Nah the toxic ones are the tbagging clickers who just die if you ignore them and try to walk in front of you to get your attention and either dead hard or sprint burst away🤣

Yeah, as soon as I hit green ranks as killer I started getting full red rank lobbies, especially at night for some reason, and as survivor as soon as I was purple rank it started putting me up against red rank killers with thousands of hours.

Yeah this supposed mmr change is going to fix matchmaking 🙄

Hypothetically, let's say it is. Who would report the killer for being AFK? How would you amass enough reports for something to happen. Everyone wants to de-rank, so you'd be hard pressed to do this.

Especially since reporting is kind of a pointless system anyway. I've faced the same late-night AFK farming bot multiple games in a row, and even different times of the week.

Just something I read on the forums...so it isn't bannable that is nice to know

What do you want them to do? They have no control over matchmaking. You want them to intentionally loop poorly and be inefficient on gens for no reason? It would be a lot more fun for you if they stopped and pointed at the hook instead of taking the 4 out?

Yeah you are right i am just going 2 play survivor instead we need more of those😁 thanks for the input

When I don't care about ranks, bloodpoints, or such and just want to mess around, I'll choose Myers and try to race the survivors. Basically, you put both ultra rare add-ons on Myers. So it will take a long time to get to tier 3 but when you do you can kill anyone at any point. The main rule here though....you are not allowed to make any offensive actions against the survivors until you are in tier 3. Perks are your call. The goal is to get tier 3 and kill them before the survivors can finish the gens and leave.

Truly evil I assume you get brutal killer since you don't get many points for the moris

Think about the Southpark episode Make Love Not Warcraft, which featured the medias idea of what a "stereotypical gamer" looks like:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3NIYJE3LAXCG/gamer-blight-png.png

With that as the inspiration, I give you the "Stereotypical Gamer" Blight build: Adrenaline Vial + Placebo Tablet add-ons, and whatever perks you think might help you because honestly it won't matter. With this build Blight becomes addicted to energy drinks (Adrenaline Vial), and is overweight while taking the lazy route to get over that with Weight loss supplements (Placebo Tablet), but overall thinks he's a total badass and can still take down survivors irl when he isn't spending his time gaming.

It's a lot of fun to challenge yourself with this build because it nerfs Blight so hard that I put it up there with the "Heavy Smoker Nurse" and "Burger King Myers" meme builds, wherein if you actually manage to get any kills while using the build... you freaking earned it!

    What is heavy smoker nurse?

  • @Rivyn said:

Clown with Insidious and NOED. Park yourself in front of your basement box. Soon as the gens are done, go ham. If they escape, they escape. If they fall to NOED, tell them to do bones. You both depip, and give them a helpful service announcement.

    And salty end game chat🤣

But then why bother spending the time depipping if your trying to avoid high level players if that's not going to help and it's based just around what time you play

I have been getting some lately with green rank and the rest are purple or red rank swf when I play and not even in the evening hours...I rarely play evening killer if I can help it

  • @Eninya said:

AFK. Queue in as the killer and watch a movie or cook or something.

I thought that could be reported

  • @eleventbh said:

So you just want survivors to give the killer free kills or what? I don't care if I'm steamrolling what's probably a solo-queue group and when I play survivor, killers don't care either. I wouldn't be blaming the killers or survivors for bad matchmaking though. It's BHVR'S fault if they put a 500 hour player like me against a team or killer with 3000 hours.

That is my main gripe but it usually seems to be sided with a lower rank killer matched up versus higher rank survivors...I rarely get a yellow or brown it's always purple or red...I will take a group of greens with 1 purple or red as even right now

  • @Jasix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/247875/higher-rank-swf-question

I rarely SWF and I try to make sure that those I do SWF with are close to my rank (at least purple). I don't play sweaty and I don't play with sweaty people - if we know that the killer is struggling we take it easy on them because - believe it or not - I play to have fun and for others to have fun.

I commend you for that most would rather tbag and clicky clicky with flashlights

the way i ease up on killers when they’re having a hard time protecting gens with no hooks is going around and making sure all the totems are cleansed. still a side objective getting done and at least 1 person is off gens, while I’m sure the others are rushing them just fine.

And stops noed as well 🤣

  • @Toybasher said:

I saw a funny one where you change your name to "Don't wake the beast" and insidious camp your thrill of the hunt totem with NOED, Blood Warden, etc. and just AFK until they cleanse the totem.

Other options include "######### Doctor" where you play Doctor and just pick one survivor in particular and follow them around zapping them the entire game and doing nothing else. You can also combo it with Rancor, in which case zap the obsession all game, then insta-down them and fry them with Rancor after the final gen pops.

Franklin's Football. Knock items out of peoples hands with Franklin's Demise and try to keep them from escaping with them.

Piggyback builds. Agitaiton, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, and StarStruck maybe, and just carry one survivor around swinging your weapon with 0 cooldown because of Mad Grit.

Burger King Myers. Combo Vanity Mirror and Judith's Tombstone and you'll be insanely slow, and just chase people around all game.

The Depipster. Play Trickster. Nuff said. I don't have him but I hear so many complaints about pipping being extremely hard with him. Dunno if it was ever fixed, but if it wasn't, he might be a good option.

Yeah trickster against high wall loops in most stages is a guaranteed depip for the most part but I wanted variety😂 think I will try that piggyback build should be good for memes

I mean sometimes I do. I can't say the same to my friends but I do. I give myself to the killer willing to give them at least one kill.

Also what do you mean by ease up? Do you want me to stop doing my objective in order to give them a hook, do you want me to stand in place? What do you mean?

I don't mean pity hits or kills I mean give them practice in chases or say practice their powers like a nurse player trying to get better

matchmaking is terrible in this game. i play with my partner, so basically 2 man swf, and i don’t have fun playing against killers with low experience, it’s unfair. & unfortunately, it’s not only red ranks. there’s survivors who depip purposely to play against “baby killers.” they just have “fun” by bullying people in a video game. it really sucks. but if it makes you feel any better at all, we aren’t all that way. matchmaking is the real problem. we need a ranking system that takes time in game into account, so people can’t just depip for easier games + doesn’t pair high ranks with real low ranks.

Yeah one of my friends says just make an alt account and play killer...I just want to play against my own rank learn and build up my skills

Not really. A lot of factors determine if a killer is looped for multiple gens. Map rng, the killer they are playing as, the perks the survivor have ect.

I have played in games in which red rank killer has been loop for multiple gens not getting hooked. Rank does not mean skill at the moment.

And it's to much to ask to ease up a bit versus an inferior opponent?

  • I used to play killer in the evening for 3 hours every other night and now it became a chore

  • I know I play my family survivor game in the morning and try to do the daily killer match around 5...any longer than that and nope sorry here are red and purple ranks vs your green rank killer🙄

  • @bm33 said:

Hide and seek with stealth killer. You find a hiding spot, when survivor finds you hit them so they don't follow you, find new spot to hide, repeat. Also if they're running spine chill and you keep setting it off while hiding they tend to miss skill checks if they're nervous about a stealth killer. 😂

As stealth killer choose a gen to guard. Anytime survivors go near it hit them. This is good on Haddonfield in Myers house, can guard gen and basement chest from being searched.

As Ghostface find a hiding spot and spend match just marking survivors that come into your view - works best on maps with 2nd floor vantage point. Fun to watch them scatter when marked.

As Nurse, put on Insidious and NOED, at start of match blink behind exit gate, wait for survivors to finish gens and open gate, surprise them with instadown. You can either watch them crawl out or hook them.

As Trapper spend match trapping up killer shack (if possible play offering for basement to be in shack), don't bother pressuring survivors, they'll come to you for boldness points. Some survivors will just do gens and leave BUT most really want that basement chest or to undo traps after that last gen is done for extra points. Once last gen is finished go open closest exit, you'll probably hear a trap disarm because a survivor really wants that basement chest before they leave. Make sure you double trap the window because many survivors will think they're out smarting you by disarming outside window trap and climb through window only to be caught in second trap inside. Hook survivor in basement, reset traps, enjoy snowball.

Thay nurse build is just evil definitely one I will try thanks😂

The vast majority of the community doesn't care about the fun of their opponents regardless of the side they play.

Why would a red rank SWF team care about the fun of a killer when the majority of killers try their best to 4k using the lamest strategies in human history?

Just that I see people complaining about long matchmaking times but never switch to play killer even for a while to solve the problem

  • @dspaceman20 said:

    I play in a swf.

I can't speak for my friends but no I don't have fun stoping killers at lower ranks.

But I have to ask why are you blaming swf for bad matchmaking? We can't see the killers rank before the match so we assume it's a red rank killer. Like seriously do you want us to stand there when we get a bad killer. I sometimes kill myself on purpose to make killers feel better.

    Blame matchmaking not survivors

You can see that a killer is a lower rank if gens fly by and they don't even get one hook and get looped right?

  • Sorry meant 2018 and current highs and lows🤣

  • Unfortunately no have been playing since 2019 and seen this game in highs and lows

The earlier ranks are very casual. Win or lose, you don't have to think very hard and everyone's either confused or vibing.

The higher ranks are saturated with players that take the game more competitively - sometimes in a constructive way, sometimes not. You're more likely to encounter players that get angry at you for playing the game (both your foes and your teammates) and lash out at you afterwards, you're more likely to encounter players that gloat and treat you like crap, and you're much more likely to meet players that BM you throughout the match. As a solo survivor, your ability to escape is going to go down the toilet, and as a killer, you're going to start running into bully squads on the regular. And matchmaking loves to pair you with opponents a tier or two above your rank, especially when the other side's queue is overloaded. So the red rank sweat squads are a problem even for green rank killers, who are woefully unequipped to handle them - but it's more of a warning of things to come than a constant issue.

People who play to unwind don't want every game to be against people who've worked the game down to a 400-level science, or people whose goal in the game is to make the other side ragequit. Matchmaking will move you upwards as long as you understand what your objectives are, and at purple/reds, every game is going to be a sweatfest, so they derank to move back into the zone where the games were on average chill and enjoyable rather than frustrating and humiliating.

Like, I'm stuck at rank 4 as a survivor, I'm horrible at looping, and I escape maybe one out of ten matches. The only reason I don't derank is because I can't do that as a survivor without punishing my teammates. The matchmaking will push you above where you belong if you play too many games in a short period of time. But it means I have way less fun playing survivor than I used to - and much less fun than when I play killer, because for killer I can control my rank and stay in an area with a comfortable challenge level (when it's not pairing me with full red SWFs, anyway, but I can take those every once in a while. Every other game and I'd quit DBD immediately.) I'm here to play for fun, not train for a tournament, and running ten rounds around a set of walls before giving up and walking away five times in one game isn't my idea of a good time.

Tl;dr, people are nastier at high ranks, high ranks are filled with experienced SWFs on comms, and getting completely outplayed is demoralizing. High ranks are less fun than middle/low ranks unless you play for the challenge.

People like the dopamine rush from winning, but don't want to put in effort. So they depip to play against people worse than them so they can win without really trying. Now, I don't understand how someone can still get satisfaction playing like that, they probably need to feed themselves a bunch of reasons why depiping doesn't take away from their victories.

Thank you you explained it so well and I know killers are getting tired of the constant and frustrating state of this game

  • @Mineguy said:

Played 5 matches and always the same things happen, the killer is not the same skill level like me and nothing happens the whole round...I don't get chased and just do the gens for 5 minutes. 2 rounds where the killer even afk because bhvr likes to torture killers so no one wants to play as them. Means, you have to wait 10 minutes for 1 round.

In these 5 matches I made 63k bloodpoints.... That's 1 round with BBQ as killer....

    Play killer solves the problem

  • @Ryan489x said:

The fact that people are asking "Hey how can I depip and lower my rank in a fun way bothers me because you did all the work to get to where you are and didn't seem to have a problem then, now that you're ranked higher the game isn't fun anymore?

    Why is that exactly?

I am personally tired of bullying and trolling higher rank swf...behavior doesn't want to put a casual mode in or stop sacrificing lower rank killers to the higher ranks then I will depip myself not my fault you ranked up that high and cant find a match with your own level...there is no incentive for higher rank killers to deal with this especially in the evening hours

Can't teleport to traps anymore, traps have collision. It's a really terrible addon, but it has some funny applications where you can bodyblock survivors with your traps by placing them in doorways/corridors. Otz has a video where he locked down the entire Badham main building plus basement, and survivors just couldn't get through the building in time. Can't say I've ever used that addon to any effect, though. :P

Oh, that's another meme game you can play - Hag, the useless addon that makes her traps deafen, and then go find an enclosed space like the killer shack/main building/a choke point and place all of your traps there, then laugh when a survivor inevitably runs through.

Aaaa the great wall of hagatha yeah monto did some vida of that blocking the basement with the traps🤣 I will try the deafen meme sounds fun thanks

  • @Laluzi said:

I like to either meme if the map is good for it (if it's Gas Heaven, I'll go and man the shop counter, if it's Dead Dawg, I'll be a bartender, if it's Campbell's Chapel, I'll play carnival games), or do something stupid like aggressively guard a totem or chest if it's not.

Sometimes I just chase and down survivors like normal but refuse to hook them. Between Devout and Malicious, you'll depip, and still play the game (and not rob survivors of the opportunity to play the game either, because sometimes you get players that don't want to meme.)

Another thing I like to do is set stupid challenges for myself that guarantee I play badly. Like speed limiter Billy and you can only M2, or Scarred Hand Hag, or Burger King Myers.

Love it😂 what is scarred hand hag though?

1 … 31 32 33 34 35 … 38
