So... survivors make you miserable as killer. Fine, that's common. But your response is to then become the very thing that's making you miserable, instead of playing survivor and trying not to be like those dicks who ruined your games.
That's... that's totally backwards.
It'd make more sense to meme around as survivor. Run Bond, Technician, Diversion, and Red Herring and have a bit of fun tanking your teammates. That would make some sense as a response.
You talk about making killers better, but that's just a load of crap. There's a difference between a healthy challenge that someone learns from and a miserable experience. The latter is more likely to get players tilted, which makes them play worse, or it causes them to outright quit. If you're playing against low rank killers, then you're probably going against not just newbies but also killers who plateaued and just reached a point after which they're unable to improve. What you're doing is not helping them learn. Matchmaking is already screwing them over; you know that and you're capitalizing on it at their expense.
Ugh, this is why I don't do anything but meme around as killer. The mix of RNG, bugs, bad matchmaking, and unsportsmanlike players makes playing this game for real seem like a completely futile and unfun experience, at least to me. Why anyone would do more than walk around as tier 1 Mikey, spook a few players, and then just wait for the next match is beyond me. The chance to be spooky is what keeps me playing DbD.
Edit: correction to perk name
Matchmaking isn't my fault and like you said I reached my plateau as a green rank killer so stop giving me purple and red ranks...that is unfair to me as well. If it is a futile and unfun experience why do you still play? All I did was switch sides to the ez mode and prove the hypocrisy in this game with my karma challenge right now

It's funny cus just the other day when I ranted about getting just rocked and bullied around by a 4 man rank 1 SWF death squad, someone told me to learn from that experience. I was like what in the hell am I supposed to learn from playing a game against survivors doing back to back body blocks and flashlight spams just for the fun of it? What do I learn as a new killer, playing a game where I wqs completely outmatched where my opponent's literally just toyed around with me until they got bored and then rushed the gens as quickly as possible and then escaping? What is it that I learn from them having one person purposefully stay behind just to play around some more by looping and juking around me at the end until the time runs out to give me that one pity kill? I don't learn very much from those games because I am not anywhere even near the same plane of existence that these people are on to even understand what little things they did in the game. Getting toyed around with is no fun and all you accomplish is just looking like a dick for no reason.
They learned that killers are punching bags at higher ranks so get used to it now😅

The anger and bitterness is unhealthy, though. Gotta let it go.
I am letting it go in the game. Being a killer main is for masochists...I just flashlight saved 4 times and that poor trapper didn't know what hit him. I even found another flashlight in a chest and made sure to clicky click...when it doesn't happen to me it is funny right?

I mean, Survivors can still get pissed at Killers if they don't all escape, leading to T-bagging at the gate when they do, which can tilt Killers. Or Killers getting tilted that a Survivor loops them decently, or T-bags, which they may use as an excuse to be toxic.
Ranked or unranked, this is still a PvP game where you are generally responsible for your own mistakes (Killer moreso than Survivor), not something like League's ARAM where you can always blame the random comp for screwing you over.
And ultimately learning healthier ways to vent will always be the better solution. It's just that with continual generations (and player influx) these lessons need to keep being learned by a subset of the population.
Artificial pre-emptive blockers for this behavior can block it, yes, but it makes it that much harder to learn from.
It would make a difference. There would be some toxicity but I guarantee you there will be less than in being forced to play against higher ranks because ranked is the only way to play right now.

Unfortunately, the more killers who leave, the less data the devs can collect and the longer it will take for them to get a decent MMR. Even if/when the MMR goes live, if there aren't enough players, it'll still have to create extremely imbalanced matches. The difference will be that, right now, a player's rank is affected the same whether the match was fair or not; with MMR, the player's rank used for matchmaking won't be as affected when they lose a match that was stacked against them, but the player won't even see that, it'll all be behind the scenes because no one will know their matchmaking rank.
So, the more players chased away now, the less useful MMR will be when it does go live because it simply won't have the players needed to give everyone fun matches. Players who are chased away aren't going to return when MMR goes live; they won't even know about it because they'll have moved on to something else, they won't be paying attention to DbD.
Which is why I say give the red rank sweats red rank killers and if there aren't any killers available then too bad no match...force one of them to play killer since they helped in chasing the killers off in the first place.

The devs are working on MMR. They've already tested it a few times, but it still has bugs to work out. Actively trying to make other players miserable won't move things along any faster, it'll just get more players to quit which means less money for the devs and then they won't even be able to afford finishing the MMR.
A casual mode is unfortunately never coming, because the queues are already lopsided and splitting it up would make it worse.
In all fairness plenty of people have already left...the new killers are just going to be the new punching bags for the cashcows(swf).

In this case "and the most effective strategy can be bad" is in reference to @ShamelessPigMain 's proposed facecamp-at-start/slug-till-death/kebab... Toxicity-until-the-devs-take-a-more-active-role strategy. Toxicity for toxicity's sake, to prove a point. No purpose other than to vent and perpetuate what pissed you off in the first place.
Or force a casual mode or mmr because ranked mode is what perpetuates the toxicity😑
-
Day 3 update with 4 purple ranks so close but my trapper with padded jaws was to agressive (and yes they knew the traps were padded because I caught all 4 of them during the match). Clicky clicky, tbagging, and 3 man hatch escape (with verbal abuse in the after chat). Verbal abuse doubles the penalty...8 killers must be punished and I will be Mr. Clicky click and no hooks will happen on my watch 🤣😂

@latinfla4 1) I understand English is not everyone first language and that you are probably working on getting better at it but right now you're English is a bit stilted and hard to understand.
2) Just stop. There is no "challenge". A lot of the community doesn't even check these forums. Some use these forms, others use Reddit, other use other places.
3) Again, just stop. Maybe this is a misunderstanding because of your not so good English but it sounds like you are being toxic to Killers who have done nothing to you because you got toxic Survivors while as Killer. Great job being toxic to someone who doesn't deserve it. That is sarcasm by the way.
4) Just don't eve be toxic as Survivor. Being toxic as Survivor is just counter to everything you claim you are trying to accomplish.
Not everyone's first language and it is your not you're...and why stop when I am enjoying myself more now when I get trolled since it proves my point🤣

I mean... I guess killing the game itself because too many people get frustrated and quit for the game to survive is one strange way to see yourself as getting a win here but you do you.
Yeah no mmr or casual mode but I am killing the game because sweat squads are justified 🙄
-
@Kate_Main_01 said:
The problem with this is that you're not 'teaching a lesson' to the people who treated you badly. Toxic Survivors/Killers are the minority, all you'd be doing is harming the community by angering or driving away innocent players. The game before might have been tea-bagging, rude Neas but the game after you could have someone like me who has never tea-bagged even once, who doesn't bring keys, and who only brings flashlights if the Rift demands it. What did I do to deserve a face camping basement Bubba?
Then multiply that by four and you see the issue. With the RE chapter coming there's going to be a lot of new players. Lashing out at every player you encounter because of bad matches is a sure way to drive them off.
And that way we get a casual mode or mmr instead of saying yes give me sweats that we don't want

Of course, but at face value should always be viewed as bad, even if the reality isn't clear-cut. People do bad things, and the most effective strategy can also be bad. Does that make you right? No. Everyone loses, but maybe the future will be better.
Have you played higher ranks in the evening?
-
@ShamelessPigMain said:
So I recently had a game that didn't go so well because I was trying to have a sweatless game with Trickster running haunted ground/undying. But because RNGesus hates my guts I got 4 Neas with flashlights who T-bagged throughout the entire game.
To most people, the usual refrain is to be the "better man" and just play normal, regardless of how much you want to bring in the stridor/NOED Spirit. But what does that achieve? They're still going to be toxic, and they're still going to be making profoundly un-fun games for other killers. The goal of this is to not perpetuate the problem, but is standing by and doing nothing going to stop the perpetuation of these problems?
Now, if you go ahead and pick up the tunneling stridor/NOED Spirit, sure, you become part of the problem, but counterintuitively, you may be helping to solve the problem. In the short run, people are going to get tilted and the toxicity is going to rise, but people can only be angry for so long before they tire out and seek a resolution. People will get sick and tired of sweating 24/7 and try to reach a mutual agreement. Even better, the rise in less-than-fun gameplay catches the eyes of the devs and they take action to stop the behavior.
And that's my defense of playing facecamping Bubba every Friday, thanks for listening. It's not fun for me or the survivors but damn, it's cathartic.
You should do it every time you get trolled it is very relaxing

All of this
I think of myself as a nice killer (won't facecamp/tunnel/proxy camp).
If a group of survivors are being a holes, my nice killer instinct will go away (I'll still play smart and not FC or tunnel or whatnot unless it's to my advantage but I will use any trick in my killer bag if strategically advantageous) but for THAT game alone.
There is nothing to be gained for anyone to punish the players in the next game as they didn't do anything...
Sure there is as the players will see how higher ranks will treat killers...they get good or say to heck with this game and play something else...lobby simulator evenings persist even more. The game only has a rank mode for the sweats thats on them...a casual mode fixes that issue = positivity for most.

Understandable. Can i at least ask you to not go to hard on new players? Remember, you don´t want to rank up.
I give them the pity kill and make sure my teammates escape every game...I am only toxic if I get a toxic team during my daily killer game as part of my karma challenge. You troll my green rank killer with your clicky clicks and tbagging my rank 20 meta perk claudette pays it forward for the next 4 matches. If I get verbal abuse after game I up that to 8 matches.

Mainly because I know that Survivor is the actual power role of the game* and not Killer.
A lot of Killers need to camp and tunnel and slug to stand even a fraction of a chance of winning because they don't have the right Perks they need to slow the game down enough or they don't know the Killer they are playing as well enough or they are just playing a low class Killer like Trapper or Trickster. I personally don't have all Perks on all characters so I know the pain of playing someone without Ruin or Pop or any actually halfway decent Perk. There have been a lot of games where I might as well have played Perkless for all the good the Perks I did have did me.
That is the reason for both not being a toxic Survivor and for being a toxic Killer when the Survivors are toxic first. The Survivors are only toxic because they know they have a decent chance of getting away with it. So by being toxic they make themselves a target for me to Prove Them Wrong. If the game was actually Killer sided then there would be a lot less room for Survivors to be toxic in the first place.
But the key factor is I don't start as a toxic Killer. Even when I'm playing someone without Ruin or Pop or I'm playing someone like Clown or Trapper I don't camp and I try hard not to tunnel and if I do tunnel I'll let myself get hit with DS and if they don't have it I'll slug them instead of rehooking.
You say you want people in the community to be better, but you yourself ARE NOT being better. Don't be a toxic Survivor, at least to a Killer who doesn't deserve it. Sure, go full on biosafety level 5 on a Killer if they camp or tunnel someone first if you want, but don't just start being toxic to someone who hasn't been toxic to you first. THAT is how the cycle starts anew with someone and DOES. NOT. HELP.
*I'm talking at the higher levels of play, not even the top ranks but the skill you should be at in Purple Ranks, if the actual ranking system of the game worked right. If you have a team of four decent Survivors, even with no coms, then you'd need to be a Red Rank equivalent Killer to stand a chance with no slow-down Perks. At Red Ranks all across the board you basically can't win without slowdown unless you're Spirit or Nurse or really, really, really good with the Killer you are playing.
It is only at the lower ranks that Killer is the power role.
To quote Rambo they drew first blood😁 I am being better by giving the community a chance...i will gladly play fun games as long as I don't get trolled first that is the whole point of this karma challenge and me updating every day.I want to see every day not be a troll day so I can pay it forward to 4 brown rank killers but if not then i guess the cycle continues...on the plus side I do let the trolls know in the end game chat that they are helping to keep the cycle going...the responses range from so what to make it 8 games not just 4 to sorry about my friends they enjoy trolling so yeah lets see if any get some insight but I doubt it.

Honest question: why are so many people on this forum so negative about everything?
Most of the discussions on the front page are complaints about the anniversary, the gameplay, survivors, killers. Complain, complain.
Why so negative? DbD is a good video game. I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means, but this game is actually fun, to me.
Shout out to the folks keeping it positive and sharing that energy.
But for the others, why so angry/bitter? I'm genuinely curious, what's the foundation/origin of that negative attitude?
I agree with the OP. BE NICE. We have an opportunity to greatly increase the number of DbD fans, as players. Let's do our part.
So the new players spend their money have a fun couple of weeks while they rank up and then meet swf sweat squads or bubba camping? If a casual mode is implemented then yeah welcome but they will be gone after ranking up and not having fun but it's ok they already spent there money and cant get a refund🤣

You make the game worse by not continuously being part of the solution.
I'm a Killer Main, no matter what my previous games have been like I don't start toxic to the Survivors, even if they had been toxic to me in a previous game. Every game is a fresh start. And I especially don't start toxic to people I've never played against before. But if someone is toxic to me then I'll tunnel and slug them for a bit and not feel too bad about it.
When I play Survivor I'm not toxic to the Killer, even if they are a face camper or tunneler. I don't clicky-clicky or t-bag or vault point or any of that even if they show toxic behavior, even if they are themselves being toxic.
Being toxic to Killers because Survivors were toxic to you only keeps the cycle of toxicity going. You have to be better than it.
Being toxic to Survivors because Killers were toxic to you only keeps the cycle of toxicity going. You have to be better than it.
You have to be the better person.
So you are toxic as a killer if they are toxic to you but turn the other cheek when you play survivor and a killer is toxic to you? Why not turn the cheek in both instances?

I mean there is no incentives to ranking up in general in the game right now for either side, outside of earning your perks. Once you have that, then what else is there to work towards? The tome challenges I guess? So you're half right about there being no incentives to play killer, but again that's just a massive issue with the overall structure of this game in general which does desperately need to be fixed.
I also agree in that I do think that there needs to be a general unranked matchmaking mode in the game to go along with the ranked matchmaking mode. Majority of games out there now a days have both of these modes, so there's really no excuse for BHVR not to have the same in this game other than they'd have to be bothered to then implement and balance their matchmaking system and institute some sort of elo tracking system that keeps track of things for the unranked games and then balance out their ranked system so that potatoes aren't being matched with red ranks. Unfortunately, judging by how lazy and half-assed the current matchmaking system is- hahahahahaha I doubt BHVR is gonna want to put the effort in to doing anything like that any time soon. The only thing I can imagine that could get them to care about doing something like that would be to have the entire community of the game literally come together and as a collective majority pester them towards the point where they can't ignore us and make it clear what we want in the game.
Look, overall my main gripe with the game is the horrible excuse for a matchmaking system they have. That is honestly imo the biggest glaring problem in the game that is at the root of a lot of problems. But just because the game is broken in that aspect, which results in me sometimes getting bullied and having terrible games where I run in to toxic sweat lords, doesn't mean that I should go and continue that cycle of toxicity and take out my frustrations by ruining someone else's game.
And just to add, yeah ok so you gave the killer a pity kill at the end. I'm gonna tell you, for me personally I -hate- that crap so much more than if the entire survivor team simply just got away at the end. To me it just feels condescending and sort of just stacks on top of the whole powerless feeling that I get in these kinds of one-sided matches. Look at it through my eyes for a second. I go in to a game and throughout the entire thing I have basically no control of anything, all the way down to my most basic objective which is to secure a kill. It feels more like the survivors after giving me hell, basically tell me that "Yeah that's right, we controlled all aspects of this game all the way down to even who you could get. So here, enjoy." It's insulting and barely even makes a difference for me at the end cus I'll still end up barely getting any points for just the one kill anyway, depending on how badly I got outdone in the other categories too.
I give the pity kill so the killer gets some points and I don't rank up because there is no incentive and would rather remain a brown rank survivor. The only way we will get a casual mode is if enough players care to complain but I don't expect it unless they start losing money.

Ah so you are just a troll, that's a shame.
Nope just becoming a better survivor...do you have any tips on how to prolong loops I have dead hard predrop pallets when necessary and of course hold that run button on big maps 😁

As a somewhat still newbie to this game who has only played killer and only killer (not counting the two SWF games I played cus I died in like two minutes against red and purple rank killers lol) I have to say, this is not the way to go about this.
I have dealt with my fair share of rank 1 SWF death squads that do nothing but bully throughout the entire game via flashlight spams, CONSTANT body blocks, running infinite loops in to another flashlight, then running off, and so on until they get bored and then decide to end the match and maybe toss me a pity kill at the end. I've been there. A lot. I've only been playing the game for a month now, I don't have many perks unlocked and legit have just 5 killers at 40 and some killers who I haven't even touched once (Trapper is one). Even with my horrible experiences being trolled and bullied, I do NOT "pay it forward" to the survivors and act like a toxic jerk on my end. There are times when I could just slug and leave an entire team on the ground and I could just dance gleefully over their slugged bodies and wait for the time to run out, but I don't. The only time I have ever done anything remotely toxic was one game as Ghostface, I had a cocky flashlight clicking teabagging survivor taunt me by the gates. I hit her and she was still within my reach to grab. So I went and hooked her then proceeded to teabag her in return as she died on hook.
Again I understand the frustration of being paired, trolled, and bullied by survivors who have thousands of more hours than me at this game and know the ins and outs of this game like it's second nature to them. But that's no excuse to act like a jerk and continue that cycle of toxicity towards others who have done nothing wrong to me. Because I know what it feels like, I don't want a new unfortunate potato rank survivor who gets screwed by the game's matchmaking and gets paired with me, to end up feeling what I feel when I get bullied by these death squads. It's not right and you accomplish nothing and become no better than the jerks who bullied you.
The funny thing is, sometimes, not often, but sometimes, the red rank death squads apologize to me at the end of the match when they see that I'm still a baby killer. We tall, have a laugh, and wish each other better luck in the next game. Be the change you want to see in this game. You want someone to troll and go ######### at? Then go and spam and troll the devs to do something about their broken system to make it more balanced and quit attacking others in the game who don't deserve it.
I do commend you for sticking to killer though be blessed and I hope you continue to play killer for a long time...we know people aren't going to be converting to killer mains without incentives right now

I was the change...been a killer main since 2018 and played every killer getting every adept I can. Killer is just not enjoyable right now...ask yourself why are we forced with rank mode and no casual mode? Not many killers will want to play vs swf on coms right? If you enjoy the state of killer right now more power to you but there is no toxicity in how I am helping. New killers need to prepare for higher rank game play and it will force them to become better killers...they still get their pity kill from me in the end😁 I am helping the game I love become better

If you play long enough as a killer, you eventually get tired of SWFs. Then you either learn to play Nurse/Spirit and sweat for 3000 hours, turn into a facecamping Bubba and mine the salt, letting them taste their own medicine, or give up completely and just go on with your life. I guess a lot of killers were hanging by their sole hope about devs doing at least something with SWF, which has always been the core problem of the game, and when they started realizing the devs don't care and will never change it, they just gave up.
Swf makes them the most money 4 wallets vs 1 killer of course they will be catered to more...I mean look at the new perks designed to kill hex builds

Im a killer main and i havent played much recently. Ive noticed a lot of other killer mains are falling off the map. Im curious why. I left because the new coldwind has much safer pallets and theyre impossible to loop around as killer. That and strong pallets are too close together meaning every time i kick a pallet the survivor has time to get to the next ultra safe pallet. What are your reasons as a killer main for leaving.
(As an aside and something i want to point out, the survivors get more pull in the community than killers. Thats why moris have been nerfed but keys havent yet. Making things more difficult on the killer is how the game will die. There will be no killers left to play. I hope the devs fix the coldwind map along with fixing gideon meat plant as both are obnoxious to move around without getting a pallet in your face at a super strong loop)
Tired of getting trolled every match and getting red ranks at least 8 out of 10 I play...too tiresome and no reward...its just a game lets treat killers like trash
