Nah. You can easily get round corners by lunging early and open areas are free hits. He doesn't need it. I actually think it would bump him up into unfair tier. Right now hes perfect outside of occasionally not bumping off things.

The number of things that don't have collision is really frustrating. The wood piles in the MacMillan escape being the worst offender.

Ranking and MMR are not related at all and that is def not the reason.

But the faulty ranking is pretty much the reason why they are working on the new MMR system.

the devs have explained it themselves: the ranking and pipping is not directly related to skill alone and you can pretty much rank up or at least hold your pip/rank way too easily.

To expand on what Mooks is saying. The issue with ranking in general is that you'll PIP as long as you're winning and then you'll get to a point where you're going against other players who are at a similar level and so you're playing just well enough not to depip but you're not playing well enough to pip. (which isn't fun)

I'd recommend playing with another killer. Because you're playing as another killer, you're going to play worse and when you do you'll depip. Eventually you'll get to a point where you won't lose as badly which will feel like you're making progress (in a backwards kind of way) and at that point you can go back to playing your main. You'll be going against survivors who are a bit greener and you'll be able to pip again.

Also because you're playing with more killers you'll get more overall experience and you'll get better faster.

  • In regards to survivor blood webs - remove all brown add-ons and then bring all add-ons down a tier for rarity.

  • I'm certain that DM does affect self-care. If you combine self-care empathy DM and resilience and 4 people are injured then the healing speed is 16 seconds.

playing spirit i stand still at downed pallet, survivor on the other side, im faking my power to see which direction he commits to, he has 4 choices

    a) stay at the pallet at which point i will use my power release half way on the loop use the speed burst to zoom around the other half and smack him in the face

    b) walk left i start my power go up hear his breathing and/or breathing release smack him the face

    c) walk right start my power go up hear his breathing and/or footsteps release smack him in the face

    d) vault into my arms and then i smack him in the face

and dont say i dont know spirit works or that i havent played spirit enough to know how to counter her

i mained spirit since her release up until right about april this year, and i still think she is one of the most annoying things ever added to this game

run back and forth in front of the pallet. This generates scratch marks that can be used to hide your scratch marks if needed. Then crouch slightly offset from the pallet to offset sounds and to increase the likely hood that she will miss if she was phasing right away. Then listen for her footsteps. Once you hear the footsteps vault the pallet.

  • You start the match with 3 tokens, when vaulting while sprinting you will use 1 token to guarantee a fast vault. Once all tokens are consumed you are exhausted.

Causes the Exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.

While exhausted you cannot use tokens, after recovering from the exhausted status affect regain all your tokens.

totally agree. Running meta perks every single game is boring as hell. I love bringing DM + BT. DM has definitely helped take away a lot of killer pressure.

ive been running DM + BT + Kindred in solo queue. It’s super fun imo

Yeah, I had tried this same build with BT instead of MoM. I think it may be stronger, but I can't resist trying to make MoM viable.

Players like you annoy me to. Nothings worse than someone not doing gens. Think of all the time you spend waiting around. I bet you could do something more productive.

I've done just about every playstyle and just about every build. I own every perk in this game and have put in 1k hours into both survivor and killer. I can gen rush or play altruistically. To think that there's only one way to play this game is silly.

If you only prioritize gens and never heal, if the killer is good you'll just get 4 man slugged. I've done it a million times as killer. Each strat has a counter, learn to change up your strategy when it doesn't work rather than just say anyone who doesn't play your way is wrong.

  • I generally don't run self-care. But I feel that desperate measures has changed my stance on this.

My current build is , self-care, desperate measures, mettle of man, botany knowledge.

The strategy is not to rush gens, but instead prevent the killer from snow-balling. I'm rank 1 as both killer and survivor and I noticed as killer that survivors who rush gens usually lose when I snowball the game.

So this build is very aggressive about protecting and healing team mates and if I can reduce the pressure that the killer is applying our team can win. I've yet to lose (lose as defined by having the killer kill 2 or more people in a match) while running this build. This is at red ranks.

The way it's played. Get on a generator until a team mate is hit. Once injured I get off of the generator and immediately attempt to find the survivor and killer. It's important that I don't sand bag my team mate, but at the same time I act as a distraction or body block for the team mate. If the survivor goes down and I think I can stop him from getting hooked I do. If I can't prevent the hook then I wait until it's safe and I unhook the survivor. I will generally run with a yellow medkit (which with these add-ons lasts all game). I don't use the medkit unless the killers terror radius is nearby. If the killer interrupts I body block to allow the survivor to escape. I can heal myself at 95 percent speed compared to having a team mate heal me. I'm telling you, this build is insane. I've actually had mettle of man go off in a few games.

First off I never watched the tournament. Personally never felt interested in it. I just heard bits about it from the forums and my mates.

Secondly you can't compare tournaments to the real game. Tell me how many 4 man swfs run camaraderie (hope I spelled that right).

My point is that not every game as Blight ends with him getting gen rushed. When I played with his adept perks I struggled since he had no gen slowdown. However once I got Tinkerer, Ruin and Undying the amount of map pressure I had was extremely strong.

The OP said that by his first down that 2 tinkerers were going off. Maybe that means that he should've hit the first survivor, left them and pressured other gens. Blight is one of the only killers where this is possible. Not every chase needs to end in a down, an injure can be massive later in the game.

I prefer Surveillance, Ruin, Undying, Brutal Strength.

The way that I play is early game I'm looking to get easy hits on survivors and break pallets. Don't commit to chases unless they're easy downs. Get an idea which generators are being worked on and harass the survivors up until they give up and go totem hunting.

Mid game, your hex totem is broken and 1 to 2 generators are complete. At this point you should have between 4-6 hooks. You probably don't have anyone dead because of DS protecting them, but you may have eaten through A DS or two. At this point there are very few pallets left. Use Brutal Strength to Protect the most important generators. Your primary goal is to keep everyone injured.

End game. You've gotten your first kill. You should still have between 2 - 3 uncompleted generators all survivors should be injured. At this point you're just cleaning up, the survivors are out of resources and you're just looking to pick up the pieces.

  • If they changed it so that it would apply on a rush attack rather than a slam and increase the radius by 4 meters, I think that would be perfect. It'd become a really good snow ball add-on.

  • He's just the right kind of powerful. Take Pyramid Head as an example of another decently powerful killer. He's powerful in the sense that he plays a bit unfair. He puts you into many lose lose situations. However, because Pyramid Head can't get around the map he can be beaten if survivors simply force chases to the corners of the map.

Blight on the other hand is decently fair when presented with a loop. If he gets you at a loop with his power then it feels like the blight earned it. And many times the survivor can make a play that sends blight to another dimension allowing them to escape from him entirely.

What makes Blight powerful is that his ability is amazing at map traversal, unlike Pyramid Head you're not going to lose a match because you were brought to the far end of a map and his ability can be used at loops (once you learn how). That's actually my favorite thing with the Blight, learning how to use his power at specific tiles.

I will admit he is good but I'm not talking about perks making up his weakness, addons that wallhack or using his power at every available moment. This killer has great mobility but his power in chase's can be severely lacking. His power by itself is just a fast running boi with a crappy turn rate.

If he chases you run around a corner, if your at a loop that's pretty safe just loop it. He can't take corner's like survivors can and you can just treat him like a basic m2 killer.

He can be fun at times yes but his power base kit wise doesn't bring anything great.

Now if we bring his addons and perks into this whole situation, the blight could be a decent killer. Like trutalent, he was using gen perks to make up for the blights weakness and using compound 21 and compound 33. Those all made up for the blights weakness making him decent.

The blight is still weak and I'm still going to practice him BUT, I use him for checking gens and catching up to survivors. To me he is still gonna be weak for a while until the devs give him a small change and fine tune him.

I've stopped using the compound add-ons because they're just broken. I was consistently at rank 1 with the blight before rank reset and I've won every game with him after the reset. I get hits with my power more often than I get hits without out it. I will say though that to win you need to be versing the team and not an individual player. You've got so much mobility that you can go hit someone who's out of position then if they go to a strong tile you leave them and hit someone else. As soon as you've got all survivors injured you'll snowball into an easy win. In addition there are many loops that you can do well with him. It's basically the same places where you would use demo's dash.

    He's crazy strong.

  • It's so odd in the forums. Like I expect to see people asking for Blight to be nerfed, but it's not happening. He's so strong already, honestly the fact that he doesn't have a flick like Oni is the only thing preventing him from being entirely oppressive. I think that he's very strong. He's at the top of A tier, the only killers that feel stronger than him in my opinion are Nurse, Spirit, and Hag.

  • @scenekidtrash said:

This is a serious question because I've seen a lot of survivors complaining about this in post game chat. Just now I had a survivor say "wow, another bbq on a red rank killer. keep relying on your crutches." Like??? To my knowledge, BBQ has multiple counters (distortion, lockers, hiding behind gen auras) so what's the big deal? There are way worse survivor perks that a lot of killers have to deal with, and most of those aren't even counterable. Someone please explain!!

I know you're asking what's wrong with BBQ from a rhetorical perspective, but honestly the answer to that is that BBQ provides double BP and twice as much BP means that you can consistently be running the most powerful add-ons. If there's a green add-on that you really like you can run that exact add-on every match without ever running out of it and having to use another. Is there a purple add-on that you like, then you could probably run that add-on most matches. As a perk without double BP, it's strong but not excessively so.

  • @FFirebrandd said:

There are two Killers that I very much hope I never see. Spirit is the first. Attempting to evade a threat that is practically impossible to perceive is the epitome of obnoxious gameplay. At the very least, she desperately needs an animation and sound cue telling the survivors she's using her power... like literally every other killer in the game.

The second is Plague. I really like bringing in Medic builds. For the People, Botany Knowledge, Blood Pact, I'm even super excited about 2 of Felix's perks just to see what the ultimate healing setup looks like, Then medkits in general as well... I'm all about all of that. Yeah. Then Plague shows up and just... shuts down literally all of it. I would not be even a little sad if she got deleted from the game.

To give her queues would gut her. She'd go from being top tier to bottom tier. However, she has quite a few add-ons that are a bit too powerful and I would like for her footsteps to be louder for survivors when she's phasing.

  • @Zeus said:

Why even give the perk a cooldown when it's a hex??

I really feel that the pallet should remain blocked until the hex is broken. After all it's a hex totem. It should be strong. And the longer you use it the more urgent it should be to find and remove it. I feel like there's no urgency to remove the hex, they'll get rid of it if they come across it but that's mostly for the extra blood points.

  • @Clocktower6 said:

Maybe its just my luck, but I've been playing against tunnelers all day, (and im not a toxic survivor btw) if there is anyway to avoid tunnelers i'd like to hear it. (I already run DS as well btw)

I play both killer and survivor, but when I play killer I really don't pay that much attention to who I'm downing. I'll try to avoid obvious DS, but that's about it. That being said, if someone aggressively uses DS I will absolutely tunnel that person out of the game. So, I would say if you don't want to be tunneled use DS defensively and not offensively.

That being said, I've thrown quite a few games tunneling a DS user, so if you are ok with getting tunneled it's a decent strat to give your team mates time to do gens while you get tunneled into the ground. And if you do manage to escape you'll really feel like you deserved it.

  • Play spirit. I mean it, just go and get to the point where you feel confident with her. After you've done that you'll have an understanding of what tactics spirits use. Once you've played as her it's much easier to play against her. Because I main the spirit she's my favorite killer to verse because I understand her strengths and her weaknesses.

Now to be clear, while I don't feel the spirit is OP I actually don't think any killer is OP. Though I hate certain killers too (looking at you Bubba). And the Spirit is in my eyes just as powerful as Nurse.

Rank means nothing. Rank 1's and 2's are often #########. I have many many hours in this game and I know rank means that you just play the game a lot. Sure he isn't good in comp play but 95% of DBD is Pub matches and not Comp play. No one is going to use him in comp play but in Pub matches I believe you will destroy survivors if you get good at him. Just my opinion though.

Rank absolutely is an indicator of minimum skill level. Rank 1 survivors are those that have reached the minimum level of proficient. Now there are many survivors that could be Rank 1 they just don't play often enough to get to that rank. However to state that anyone could get to rank 1 if they put enough time in is a bit rediculous unless they cheese the system, for example getting killers to farm with them. But outside of a double bp weekend, high rank killers don't generally offer mercy.

He's not bad at all, I've seen Monto play him and the survivors get destroyed, OhTofu played him and destroyed the survivors. I've played him and only got 1 game with less than 2 kills and it was my very first game, and yes I'm console so I can't even flick. He's very viable. I will admit he's very perk dependent but he is very viable. Also I'm a green ranks and most of the games I versed red rank survivors even though rank means nothing and I have less than 100 hours in killer and was still getting 2ks, 3ks, and 4ks. He's very, very viable. The only buff he needs is a free lunge out if his power for chase but he has such good gen pressure that you can waste time in a chase and still pressure the gens.

He's something of a pub stomper. He's extremely good vs bad survivors. However, against good survivors he struggles a lot more. I'm not saying he's a bad killer because of that but it does mean that you really need to master him as soon as you start versing good survivors (when I say good survivors I mean rank 1 and rank 2s) . A rank 1 or rank 2 survivor can easily cost you the game unless you really have your angles down.

The problem is the amount of control the blight has over when to read those auras and how effective the radius and duration both are in this situation.

The control of the aura reading is more limited on those other characters.

It really is too much and it'll definitely get nerfed by the midchapter patch.

They'll nerf the Rarity, Duration OR the Radius of the addon, but worst case scenario is they'll nerf more than just one of those options killing the addon entirely.

I like the idea behind the add-on, but it needs to be changed ever so slightly.

Here are some changes that could make it a bit more fair.

When initiating a Slam after Rushing for at least 16 meters, reveal the Aura of Survivors within 16 metres of the collision location for 6 seconds.

    Alternatively

When initiating a Slam reveal the Aura of the nearest Survivor within 16 metres of the collision location for 6 seconds.

The long cooldown is balanced, but a 60-second exposed status (for simply touching a regressing generator) is quite long as well. So say a survivor were to get immediately downed by this perk, perhaps unknowingly that the killer had it; hooked; then healed at the hook.. they get to be punished by it again? Doesn't seem right to me. I'm open to hearing other input though.

The only time I could see this happening is Last gen adrenaline.

Wait, do Haunted Grounds and Undying work together? Someone tried this out in the PTB and said that HG doesn't activate if it gets transferred to a new totem.

Yes, it will proc several times

  • @Auron471 said:

survivors will be cleansing totems like crazy with undying in the game, which will make them better at knowing where totems spawn. Thus noed is less likely to get any value, or even activate.

I had a lot of fun with this build. Hex: Undying, Hex: Haunted Grounds, Hex: Noed, perk of your choice. In my case I was running stridor because I was playing spirit. Hex Undying provides auras, Haunted Grounds tend to be activated between 2 and 3 times and usually by end game there is 1 unlit totem that will never be found.

This strat can be countered if survivors only go for unlit totems or they break unlit totems first. This isn't common knowledge yet and it's been way too good so far.

  • Here's my stance on it. There's no reason not to run this add-on every game you play with the Blight. So this either needs to be removed or the aura reading could be added to the base kit with reduced range say 8 meters and than this add-on could increase the aura reading range by an additional 8 meters.

Add-ons shouldn't be a requirement on any killer, I know that for some killers they are (Like Wraith) But ideally all of the core parts of a killer should be a part of their base kit and not in an add-on.

  • I have to agree, not because of the grind but because it punishes new survivors/killers more than anything. It's already hard enough trying to play this game without the best perks but new players have to deal with subpar perks because they haven't gotten to tier 3.

  • I can also agree that this add-on is crazy strong. It does make it much more enjoyable to play ping pong man, but it's 100 percent at the survivor's expense.

  • 16 m aura reading and you can check 5 areas in 10 seconds. There's no hiding from it.

  • I've been loving the new killer, haven't played the new survivor or his perks yet. My build that I've been using has been undying, haunted ground, noed, and bbq. I wouldn't say it's a good build for him, but it's nice to get some insta-downs through out the match and if you can get undying + NOED end game, that totem isn't going anywhere.

  • It took a long time for people to learn how to play nurse well. And even good nurses can get juked. The best nurses in the world don't win every game.

  • @CalamityJane said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1607878#Comment_1607878

You say that like it's impossible to play both sides of the game. I want good content for both. But a killer like this, honestly just feels like a waste of 3 months of work.

After achievement hunters get his achievements, he dies off completely. He's not fun to play, he's not strong, and having the camera swinging around wildly all match isn't my idea of a good time playing the game.

You'd be surprised at how many loops you can use his ability at, but even if you don't get them at the loop you'll get them if they try to change tiles. He's really strong, but for you to feel his power at it's full potential you can't just rely on his power. His power is best used when survivors are out of position. If they're in position, you'll need to force the survivor to leave the tile, if you've mastered his ability you can often get them at what they would think is a safe tile or move on to someone who is out of position. If you miss a charge attack it's going to be really punishing, but you know what, even if you miss you can simply apply pressure using your ability.

I haven't been getting 4ks every match, but I get enough hooks per match to keep my rank 1 status, every now and then dropping to rank 2. And this is just day 1. His skill ceiling and his lethality is similar to nurse and I would like to put in the time to prove just how good he can be.

Ive been playing Blight consistantly since he came out. He sucks. I played the PTB extensively as well. I believe that my impression, (while early) is accurate.

I disagree so much. I've been having a blast and I've maintained my rank (1) while playing with him. I can't tell you exactly how powerful he is, but he seems about as powerful as ONI. Not quite as oppressive as hag or spirit. Regardless he's somewhere in the A tier.

  • I was playing him at red ranks. It's not as easy to win as it is with killers that I'm comfortable with, but he seems really powerful to me.

The only add-ons that I'm playing with are his add-ons to increase how long you have before you need to bounce again. They're mostly training wheel add-ons until it becomes second nature enough that I can play without them. But he has much stronger add-ons that I haven't played with yet.

  • @tactic said:

Permanent effects are always risky to play with. The potential of blocking most pallets is rare but possible, much like in the early days of DBD when you could sabotage every hook on the map.

I think it needs its cooldown reduced (or removed) and have a slightly bigger radius, then it'll be fine

But as soon as the hex is cleansed they'll all be unblocked. That seems fair. And you're only getting 1 blocked per basic attack in most circumstances.

  • @KingFrost said:

It needs a buff, but I don't think that's it.

Well let's hear it, how would you buff it to be worth using. Remember that it's a hex perk that can be broken.

  • The biggest issue that I had with the blight in the PTB was him getting stuck on crud in the map. It sounds as if that's been fixed, in which case I feel that the blight is very likely to be a powerful killer. Let's not start suggesting major buffs to his kit just yet.

To op think about it you could lock Evey single pallet and the perk can stay up ages as well as showing survivors on it thanks to undying this would legit make games unplayable as there would be no escape counterplays

Just have it reset if undying gets applied.

Do you have selective reading or something? The guy was playing the absolute strongest Killer in the game by a long shot and was a top tier player with her as well AND he had a 3 gen and still could barely get a 2k only when tunneling and camping. He's saying at high lvl play the game is way to survivor sided, because it is and that match in the tournament is proof of it. You realize that Nurse makes pallets completely useless right? Those survivors were playing without their primary defense and still did that well, that is the problem right there. The problem is that the killer is NOT the power role, no matter how good he is no matter what killer he plays the killer will always lose if the survivors play at the highest level.

First, I would disagree that Nurse is the strongest killer in the game. I feel that she lacks map mobility, she has some really powerful counter play, like jumping in a locker to avoid getting hit and then using the stun animation to gain distance. She's especially hurt by dead hard. And she is can often be countered by holding w.

I feel that this tournament has shown conclusively that in a competitive setting that Spirit is a much more consistent killer than Nurse. Now this isn't to say that Nurse is a bad killer, but she's at a similar tier to Pyramid Head and for the same reasons. Easily counters loops, strong in the 1v1. However, Spirit is just better at switching targets on a dime and has many ways that she can confuse even the best players in the world.

  • Dead by daylight requires snow-balling by the killer to win at high ranks. Why is it fair to give examples of survivor games where the killer failed to create a snowball and just say "Oh they were bad" but in games where they were able to prevent a snow-ball. "survivors are overpowered". To me the tournament showed that survivors and killers are so closely matched that at the highest levels survivors and killers can win.

  • This game is definitely killer sided

  • Yeah I also noticed something weird going on. High rank killers while my team mates are ranks 19 - 9. I'm red rank btw.

  • Sole Survivor, why would there be a perk that works better the more of your team mates are killed and it's not even enough of an upside to the ridiculous downside.

  • just stand on hatch, they won't get the prompt to use hatch. Then at your leisure close hatch.

  • You really should have 2 polls. 1 poll with the 5 killers that are generally considered the strongest and 1 poll with killers that are generally considered the weakest. Just the fact that spirit isn't listed her despite her generally being considered OP and S tier is already going to get people aggravated.

And why would you list Clown or Michael in a poll about nerfing killers. Do you legitimately think they're really powerful?

  • something needs to be done about moris they're just incredibly unfair. The equivalent would be if survivors had an offering to spawn an open hatch at 5 gens.

  • His 2 best add-ons are the add-ons that increase how quickly the charges come back and the add-on to reduce the stun from using his power. I run the yellow add-on for each just about every game and it makes a world of difference in how well he plays.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

Either this or he'll be incredibly loopable with an unnecessary cooldown to his power that doesn't help him with map presence or chase power.

I don't need to retort to an argument that lacks any foundation. Because there are no teddy bears in dead by daylight, I think we can agree that there are no crutches either lol. Decisive Strike is a bit to pointy to be reassuring or supportive. LOL. And you think that my definition was built to fit a narrative. You're a joke. And a funny one at that.

  • I main her as well and while I love her, I think she needs some tweaks.

Mother Daughter rings down side should be that she can't hear sounds while phasing. That would be a justified downside to a mega 75 percent increase in speed while phasing.

She should have louder footsteps while phasing. Her footsteps are currently one of the ways that good survivors track a phasing spirit. This should be easier for all survivors.

And really that's it. The louder footsteps would give perceptive survivors exactly what they need to be able to counter her.

1 … 21 22 23 24 25 … 29
