These would be cool outfits but they may be too complicated for the devs to do, idk, but if they can it'd be nice to see.

weirdly enough I think the hardest for them to pull off would be Elodie's. I think the others are simple especially they could use bases. For the skirt on the Yui one we could use Feng's Cheongsam skirt. For the leopard print coat a base could be Yui's jacket. Keep in mind when I say base I don't mean use the model I mean to skin wrap something around it if that makes sense?

  • Iron will! I just love playing stealthy mid chase!

  • Whenever I get matched against a baby killer ill throw pallets early and chain throw them just to make it a lil easier.

Dead Hard can easily be played around by a killer with nominal awareness of how the perk works. It's a perfectly fair exhaustion perk. Killers who complain about Dead Hard are like Survivors who complain about PGTW. They just don't want the other side to have any nominally useful perks.

    What if im both?

  • DS and UB Really isn't that bad just stop playing toxic and you'll rarely have to deal with it.

  • "I still get punished for tunneling must be the devs hate me so much!!!!" Why do killers keep this self absorbed attitude?

  • I wanna feel like prey lol. I like feeling weak and scared its why I usually run stealth builds. Its also why I don't want killers like xenomorph or space stuff in cause I want an actual horror game. Bottom line is a lot of people share my opinion sorry we play the game I guess lol.

  • Killers used to be able to see back in beta but it was removed cause it made carrying a survivor virtually riskless.

  • Since Silent Hill already came true I think a neat chapter would be a Until Dawn with Emily as the survivor and The wendigo as the killer.

  • You guys blame losing on SWF waaaay too much. With this attitude you guys wont ever improve just sayin

Mori's were an issue, however keys are too

Both put the two sides onto a painful playing field and keys are VERY unhealthy, and in a different way than you think

Keys can result in 1 survivor escaping and EGC killing the rest, while along with this keys can cause survivors to escape and the killer can do nothing but watch. While keys are extremely powerful they are a rather annoying item

I'm sorry but has that ever actually happened and how often cause I've never had that happen or even seen it happen.

When did the devs state that? If your reasoning is that they nerfed mori's first that's not very sound when og ds took at least two long years to rework. Freddy was in a misrable state for a similar period I'd argue that should have been priority. But that water under the bridge.

My concern is this key change is going to be some increase on hatch opening or a limit on people which won't address its core issue which is hatch needs to spawn at endgame or all gens done. Anything before that is crazy powerful.

Also you need to put yourself in the killer player shoes if someone comes along with a key into a game what do you do. Franklins wont work since they will either pick it up or you will be forced to guard it. Winning at 5-3 gens is far from easy espicially on weaker killers. Its jardly seems fair. There is two sides to this game both are antagonistic naturally satisfying both instead of demonstrating favoritism agitates the other.

Imagine if I nerfed ds at a time where there was a broken killer who could easily patrol you and was overtuned for those reasons. You would be fumming mad. Now we have a similar situatuon keys end the game much faster then intended similar to mori's. Both share the same frustrations and both have very easy fixes. Shouldn't you for postpone one till the other is prepared for the sake of balance?

Bruh I play both sides equally and I'm saying as someone who normally experiences the frustration of both ends. You're telling me "Why did they take forever to change one thing which is an extremely complicated and difficult fix but they didn't take forever to change something which is a simple easy change."

  • @ausanimal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1807880#Comment_1807880

And by doing what they did they just made a bigger problem by having every survivor know a key change is coming and to use them now while there still good and killers will be dodging lobbies when they see keys which by the sounds of it is most matches making the wait time longer to find a lobby, while also driving a wedge between the killer and survivor player base even more with this change if they wanted to do it right they would off done them at the same time be it in a month and not change one but not the other.

What if it was the other way round and keys got nerfed and not moris how many survivors would be on the forums upset over the change to keys and not mori, it was a fight BHVR couldn't win by just changing one off them and not the other at the same time.

But realistically that wasn't gonna happen even by the devs own admittance.

  • What do you guys mean? Honestly the maps are really fun tbh, disorientating cause they feel new but they're still fun and kinda bright.

  • @Zarathos said:

More then swf. Wait what? Am i misunderstanding? Communication and cross map cohesion overcomes a lot of dbds challenges.

Yes you have to be one hell of a sweat squad to maximise it but an average swf (speaking from experiance) utterly destroys most immobilie killers since information can be fed across the map. Killer is here is so simple but devastatingly effective espicially if there immobilie.

    My Priorites woudl have been

    1. Swf

    2. Buff solo survivour

3.moris/keys (both simultaneously no need for a complex fix for either) all gens done one survivour left hatch spawns. Mori as is now is exactly what I was hoping for.

Whist I agree a mori can do more damage in isolation when you pair keys with swf comms holy molly is it crazy op.

its not crazy op. SWF doesn't give keys the ability to end the game right when it starts lol. Keys are extremely difficult to change compared to moris and moris cause overall more damage. The devs saw moris were more broken and easier to fix so they fixed them first, not that big of a deal. I don't see why they HAVE to come in the same patch the devs themselves stated before they wouldn't come in one patch.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

While mori's were indeed much stronger balance wise. The thing that was complained about keys and mori's was that they are bassicly fun enders.

They end the match before it get's to the climax. Leaving a very disatified feeling.

Now they have bassicly announced that keys will probably get changed relativally soon so people are just spamming them now.

If they announced the mori change 2 weeks before then there also would have been a ton of complaints about the spamming of it.

    This is no different

Yeah but they still need to tackle the bigger issues first. Moris are easier and far stronger than keys so they tackled moris first its just common sense.

  • Lol don't know. I still haven't gotten to tier 30

  • @Tricks said:

So when are keys getting nerfed then?

Don't know, they took care of one thing that was worse than the other and keys im assuming are coming within the next 3-6 months maybe less so be prepared!

  • @Nosferatu3145 said:

Keys are just the icing on the cake after SWF with full second chance meta perks with map offerings and offerings for hatch to spawn in X place, and all the toxicity that comes during the game and in the post game chat

Yeah they're rage inducing but thats about it. When it comes to things that actually needed to be nerfed mori's were higher by far.

But this scenario people keep mentioning would not happen. Why is everybody so afraid the lore would scream GAY!!! at them?? No other lore has done this for straight characters.

And even if it did, what's the issue? I don't remember people being up in arms about how Jane's lore focused on her career in entertainment so heavily, for example.

By this logic, why put any lore in at all?

Because its extremely annoying lol. No one wants to hear about sexuality 24/7. Being an actress is an important part of someones character, someones sexuality isn't.

  • As a gay man not_queen said it perfectly. I don't want a gay character solely because of representation.

Ace in the hole is a superior perk which gave me hundreds of free add-ons

That's the problem, I sometimes play Bubba and down everyone including the unhooked in a short while (happened to me cause they were all on a gen) and get stunned

Okay you down 4 people and hook 3 whats the problem? You did great so DS isn't really a worry

  • Tbh think its fine. If you're tunneling someone you deserve the DS stun. If you're performing so well you can down, hook, then down another survivor all in 60 seconds then you shouldn't need to worry about DS since you're already outperforming the survivors.

  • Not really thank god lol

Being a big company doesn't matter. Many games released by these larger companies still fail.

Being a large company doesn't promise a good game.

Look at don't starve for example or Terraria, FTL etc. All indie companies.

Yeah but what if those games had come out instantly with a horrible reputation?

  • @Fibijean said:

Not to get political about it, but overtly Chinese games aren't often that popular with (non-Chinese) Western audiences. If it's simply got a Chinese developer and a great English port, people typically won't notice or care, but if they can't read any of the text in the top video when they go to the store page on Steam, and the English in the description flows badly and isn't even grammatically correct, that's going to be a huge turn-off for a lot of people regardless of the gameplay quality. It's not exclusively a Chinese issue, of course, but there are a few reasons why Chinese games tend to stand out in this way, at least in my experience (Japanese games, for example, are more likely to be received favourably even if they suffer from exactly the same issues, because they have a reputation for quality thanks to huge companies like Nintento).

So you think its more stereotyping than anything?

  • @ElementDoom said:

I remember seeing that back in the day. I liked the game aesthetic but from what I recall the survivors were

    -Faster than the killer

-Had dead hard without a cooldown base kit on top of the killer giving a sound notification for swinging

-Only needed 1 person to finish the objective to give the killer a defeat and all 4 survivors a win

No way I was gonna touch that with a 10 foot pole. If they never changed any of that then that's why the game died.

Oh yeah the whole dodge function was altered I believe, at least when I played it it felt much more precise? Also it did have a cool down though it was short I will say.

Because other than the perks, the store (which, BTW, I thought was kinda cool), and the killer's PoV, everything looks, feels, and plays the same as in DbD. There are minor differences, but not nearly enough to make me believe this isn't a DbD clone.

Though I dont think one is better than the other they're both good depending on what style you like better but to outright say its a clone is a bit far fetched.

Well to point out some feeling differences. The maps are dynamic, events happen while playing such as shelves knocking over or things like that. Chase wise its a very different experience. In the couple games I had there was one where the killer clearly was new and one where they knew what they were doing and both definitely felt different. When it comes to looks i do have to disagree as well since idk to me they're two very different aesthetics like DBD aims for a more outright horror feel SaS is more of an eerie anything lurks kind of feel. A good comparison would be that the size of the maps are very different since SaS maps tend to be much larger in all aspects making survivors feel more small and weak meanwhile DBD does give the survivors a certain level of defense when it comes to pallets and windows.

  • @Bravo0413 said:

I remember which you're talking about.... there was no way it was going to last... I do agree that its not a DBD knock off though...

Identity V was designed to be a DbD clone. DbD devs were literally consulted on the project, if I'm not mistaken.

SaS wants to pretend it's not a DbD clone despite being an obvious DbD clone.

Maybe Identity V at its very basic gameplay is a clone but thats just whatever it more than makes up for it in other aspects.

I'd like to know how SaS is an obvious clone though besides the injury system?

  • @twistedmonkey said:

If a game is good is doesn't matter about any community stating otherwise.

    Look at Fortnite for example.

Games die due to the playerbase preferring another or the game just not being that good nothing else.

Fortnite was made by a huge company and already had a big fanbase prior due to the Save The World mode. Comparing that to a small game by a small company that needs to build its reputation is a bad comparison esp when the only 'professional' reviews it got was by DBD youtubers who compare any 4v1 game to DBD even though a comparison isn't there to make.

  • @Orion said:

Looking at that, the game probably would've done better if it had actually just been honest about what it is - a DbD clone.

Identity V is more of a DBD clone than this game is and even then Identity V is hardly like DBD in most aspects.

  • @Xbob42 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1667768#Comment_1667768

So they made DBD but with a different focus on how the killer and survivor approach each other. That's not enough to wash away the stigma of the clearly "borrowed" concepts. Games always imitate each other, of course, but everything I see about this game just looks like DBD-but-worse. I'm not seeing any kind of hook that's making me go "Oh, that's what they changed! That seems way better than DBD!"

I think DBD is a hugely flawed game, and making a superior version would simply require a talented team to understand DBD's problems and have the design and technical chops to do better. This game does not appear to have accomplished that.

As well as a different objective, different card system, different style, different gameplay feel etc etc. A few borrowed concepts doesn't make something a rip off. I'm not even sure what to consider a true dbd rip off

  • @Xbob42 said:

Yeah, I just watched a video of a little bit of gameplay, and my first thoughts were 100% DBD ripoff. Maybe the objectives are different or something, but it was a character that functioned like the nurse, teleports to a survivor, hits the survivor, who gets a speed burst and enters the injured state, and then the killer spends a few seconds wiping his weapon. Same aura system, dude teleports to another survivor who looks to be holding M1 or the equivalent on a shrine or something which the killer can see all of at all times, all on a video labeled "Soul at Stake Gameplay - The New Dead by Daylight?"

Yeah, it's tooootally different, you guys. A lot of the exact gameplay mechanics unique to DBD just fell into it by accident, but there's like, not generators or perks so it's like DBD but less customizable? All with way worse animations and looking like a bad mobile game.

    Fantastic.

    Video in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xg4o6tv2LA

Oh yeah also if you really wanna get technical there's 'perks' but they're not like perks in DBD they function differently

All killers teleport actually. All killers also see auras at all times this is where the gameplay differs since Killers and Survivors both have to try and outsmart the other instead of taking a direct action course like DBD. The only truly similar mechanics is the injury system but thats about where it ends. (EDIT: just realized what mechanics are 'unique' to DBD?)

Identity V never died but it came close to it at launch thanks to the DBD community trashing it so hard.

see, people don't even know what it is. it's crazy.

basically it's a mage BR (soon to have 9v9 TDM as well) game, where you have magic gauntlets that can combine together to create various effects (like if you have a gas cloud from toxicologist, you can freeze it/electrify it/blow it up with a fireball for massive damage). there's also a ton of mobility options along with your standard battle royale mechanics (ring, loot, etc).

i think the BR aspect is holding it back the most, since people are getting burnt out on those, but it still deserves recognition. the game's pretty damn polished, and the mobility/projectile aiming aspects of it are super fun. and it's free ofc

Why do you think it's really struggling?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

i really don't think attributing its failures to dbd content creators/the dbd community at large is fair when there're a million other factors to consider. some games just fail, even if they're good.

look at spellbreak right now. it's not failing per se, but it certainly isn't gaining the playerbase it needs to sustain itself on a larger scale

    Hm whats spell break?

People tend to label anything 'X ripoff' despite facts to the countrary, because people aren't as clever as they make themselves out to be. AND you will often have people (including companies) outright COMPARE games (also books, movies etc) to something popular despite everything OR proclaim their game to be the 'X killer' (do you know how many games have been touted as WoW killer or anything?)

Yeah like all the people labeling Paladins an overwatch rip off/clone but never actually having had played it lol.

I remember playing Soul At Stake, is it still around?

The most glaring issue with the game was that the killers all moved SLOWER than the survivor players, and had to rely on map knowledge and clever use of their teleport powers to win. As you can imagine, it was incredibly frustrating for new killer players and they dropped off pretty quickly.

yeah just bought it last night on sale lol thats what sparked this discussion. And they balanced it a lot better from when it first came out. Its not as tilted as it was before esp with the killer power adjustments. I played like 2 games on asian servers and the killer did pretty well for noobs

  • @tippy2k2 said:

The game having been out for two years (at least according to The Google dot com) and this is the first I've ever heard of it might have something to do with it doing poorly...

You say it's nothing like DBD but the description on the Steam page makes it sound a LOT like DBD...specifically:

"In the strange and lifeless scene, four gamblers are trying to run away from the devil, but there is no exit. All they can do is to perform a mystery sealing ritual to expel the devil and redeem their souls."

You run away from a monster trying to take you out in an arena with no exits and you have to do certain tasks in order to unlock the power needed to escape...

Yeah, have no idea how anyone thought this was similar to DBD with a description like that :D

Dbd -> hold M1 and do 5 gens and open an exit gate to escape

SaS -> do 8 cardholders playing blackjack with each one until the 21 spots are filled by the cards you pick.

Dbd and SaS both play completely different in Chase too. Dbd is more action centric and up front SaS is more abouts wits and judgement.

I wouldn't say they took inspiration from one of the characters, moreso they took their Chinese character and gave her traditional Chinese (I think it is, I haven't studied Chinese culture so if I'm wrong please feel free to correct me) dress for a Chinese celebration.

I am Chinese and they did do that but there's many colors for a Qipao and many styles of hair to go with it. They kinda chose the same colors and hair as Angie from Soul at Stake which isn't bad but I think they took inspiration off her outfit imo.
