Anyone else think D-strike is a waste of a perk slot now? It's only really useful if some idiot farms you and you still get slugged anyway, these killers are having a field day when they see no ds. I run in a swf so I never get farmed and someone is always running BT, the 60 second really is a waste of time where you could be doing something valuable. No one runs DS anymore I think they should change it but in a way were it's still run able or at least do something about the incessant slugging.
DS could use further tuning as you can open exit gates without it not deactivating. It is still extremely good perk as hitting one will often make the killer not tunnel anyone else.

Oh, right... That "inferior perk" that I see 75% of survivors using.
Im not sure what reality you live in in where dead hard is better than sprint burst but do send a post card.
Dead hard is used more because its more interactive not because its better.
SB gameplay is exessively boring.

I had downed a person and the other survivor was right there injured of course ima hit her and not just pick up the downed person but thats slugging, I see a person and hook them the one survivor takes them off the hook, then they run and run and I stop the chase as I wanna patrol gens, then I see the still injured person that was recently unhooked... am I meant to just let her go??? End game I hook a person see nea and the silent hill girl around the area I go to nea and the silent hill girl goes I go back and forth I get hit off on nea down her pick her up hit the silent hill girl put nea up and IM CAMPING??? do they want the win handed to them? I literally am not aloud to win under any circumstance or else I am being toxic/scummy when they are running meta perks and im running "fun" perks. then the post game is the red rank nea "slugging, tunneling and camping." wait so its ok for you to use ALL OP PERKS but I am not aloud to try to win the game.
Other side makes dumb mistakes and refuses to accept the played bad and try to say you play scummy instead. Has happened in the history of multiplayer games since the beginning and most likely lasts forever.
You can only ignore their arrogance.

this is just embarassing.
I played a wretched shop today without a single jungle gym. The only random structures were occasional car loops and the bus. pogchamp game 7 pallets 80% the map was a deadzone from the very beginning.
Also played the game with like 999999999 safe pallets seems completely esports ready for me.

Tbf (stepping back a little), this entire suggestion is born from the inequity in such high level survivors going against lower level killers. SBM would solve this issue just as well.
It would make it worse because instead of running inferior perk like dead hard it would just insetivise those players to run sprint burst and remove every single dead zone from the map.
Sometimes maps can spawn really dumb setups and they should be addressed but this would completely ignore that....the actual issue...
and make the experience for those players worse....
this suggestion has to be a bait....

Of course, but then eventually you're going to have to go after that one survivor. Are you saying that survivors like that are just entirely untouchable? Does that seem balanced to you?
As Nos said above. This is a 4v1 asymmetrical game, and yet some survivors can best any killer that's not Nurse or Stridor Spirit in a 1v1 chase.
Wow imagine the survivour wont stand still and die for you theres an opportunity for the to make plays
its almost as if...

Read the first post again.
It doesn't limit survivors ability to run, it doesn't slow down survivors at all.
What it does do, is put a limitation of Exhaustion perks, in that it gives survivors a window at the start of a chase (that could be adjusted to whatever is fairest) in which they will need to utilise their Exhaustion perks if they want to. It could be something like 60 seconds, which should be more than enough for the vast majority of survivors. But it means that the very best of the best of survivors, who can effortlessly loop a killer for minutes at a time, doesn't then ALSO get to use a second chance like Dead Hard to extend the chase for ANOTHER 5 minutes on top of the first 5 minutes they ran the killer for.
This is no different to how DS works, with it's 60 second timer. Use it or lose it.
Well the fact that you are committing on a survivour for more than a minute can very often lose you the game at that point you really wanna chase someone else
-
Both sides have been complaining about the other sides crutch perks since the game was released you are just another one on the same pile.

So, I just got destroyed by some kind of master Leatherface who was probably the best killer in the entire game, lol. The guy didn’t need any slowdown, he just went from a surv to another, instantly downing them, hooking them and move on to the next one. He also literally never tunneled anyone. How is that even possible, you might ask? Well, first, in solo we can’t be coordinated to unhook/do gens/heal, so we weren’t efficient enough to beat him. Second: Play With Your Food paired with Nemesis.
Guys, he looked like he was on steroids. Thanks to Nemesis he kept changing the obsession and letting them go, just to be at PWYF max stacks for every chase.
Thing is, he/she got the absolute best out of a niche build, using perks that are not meta at all.
Now I ask you guys, what niche builds do you successfully use, and on what killer? I bet (and hope) lots of you will say things that’ll blow my mind.

Isnt a 50/50 the reason survivors are crying their eyes out about Spirit every day?
It isnt a 50/50 if you actually try to predict what the survivour is going to do and can aim. The more they also juke the more they lose distance overall making it in your favor either way.
If you blindly just take a guess which direction the survivour is going to turn everytime ill repeat it for you.

“Skillfully outplay”
oh please as survivor you just do a little flick and it avoids any kind of ranged shor. Hatchets, harpoons, of POTD attacks. An entire attack dodged because of a little flick.
You’re given jungle gyms and obstacles around the map to avoid ranged shots. Being caught out in the open is when killers are meant to get hits, but survivors want a chance for safety 100% of the time. They dont want any situation when they’re vulnerable, which contributes greatly to the poor balance of this game and a reason why nobody is playing killer
"oh please as survivor you just do a little flick and it avoids any kind of ranged shor. Hatchets, harpoons, of POTD attacks. An entire attack dodged because of a little flick."
If you anticipate that the survivour will just run in a straight line with these killers you are trash tier with them.

Every time the devs change something with survivor movement we get a flood of crying that they can't moonwalk or 360 any more.
Clearly if your survivors have enough time to entertain themselves moonwalking then doesn't that point to an issue with balance? If you are so unbelievably bored that you need to practice walking backwards all game, i would say we need a huge killer buff or map nerf.
Survivors claim 360's are pointless, but why do they rage and cry and fit all over the forums and social media every time it is toned down? It is clearly gaining them some kind of advantage if this is the case.
Make the game better and stop going back to 2016.
Would survivour still be just as strong even if they would be completely removed?
Yes.
Would there be less things to be good at and less ways to entertain yourself?
Yes.
Then whats the point of touching them other than pissing on people who spend thousands of hours on this game.
Other is a final attempt to not go down and other is just a minigame when walking from gen to another.

How do long do you have to que???

Most pc players are as good as console players the only realy diffrence is that on console they are limited by the controller and the hardware more. Id rather never turn crossplay off it helps with que times and the games dont change in difficulty.

But I can't decide on the 4th perk.
Also, PSA - a lot of people seem to mispronounce 'mither' - they rhyme it with 'slither' when it actually rhymes with the 'i' emphasised 'neither'. It is a northern UK word meaning 'bother' essentially, and is usually used in a sentenced like "Stop mithering me!"

A lot of DbD is extremely easy, mostly survivor. It doesn't take a genius game master to beat nearly every killer, it takes VC, a little basic co-ordination, and predropped pallets/massive W holding. Same with killer, just equip Freddy with PGTW, Thrilling, Sloppy and Corrupt and you can just mindlessly hold W at survivors for most trials, you don't even need to know how to loop. It's not quite as easy as cheesing it as a survivor, but it's as close as it gets.
Both examples will be completely obliterated by people who know what they are doing. Against casual players it is enough but to say its all you need is just dishonest.
The game is mechanically very easy but to be constantly winning you need experience and gamesense.

Making better decisions from advanced knowledge is literally the definition of skill as per the dictionary:
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/skill
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/skill
the ability to use one's knowledge effectively and readily in execution or performance
the ability, coming from one's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well:
So you just admitted this game requires skill, and also admitted you're using the word wrong.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2020755#Comment_2020755
That is fair, but different type of skill should not be equated to no skill. Learning how to aim in an FPS game isn't particularly the hardest thing to do either, let alone requiring much thought.
People really romanticise skills in other games when video game skill boils down to a bunch of non sense almost all the time. People need to stop acting like other video games are equivalent to real life sports that require serious effort and talent to do: being physically fit, training extremely hard to be good at it, etc.
Video game skill, including for FPS games that people for some reason take too seriously for some odd reason, result in knowing when to press a button on your mouse or certain buttons on your keyboard. Really not grandiose in the scheme of things.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2020720#Comment_2020720
Matchmaking isn't the best in this game, sure. But I will repeat myself again: winning isn't the definition of skill in this game. There are tonnes of games out there where skill isn't defined by winning or completing the game and DBD is one of them
Hours are not the end all be all of defining skill, but it's a general correlation, much as is rank. People often say rank means nothing, but yet complain about mismatched matchmaking. You can't have it both ways. Hopefully MMR fixes that, but the mixmatched match making doesn't negate anything about how it takes skill to play this game, and the general pattern that it takes people hundreds of hours to even begin being competent. Your claim that you're on par with streamers with over 4000 hours is still yet to be verified and at this point doubtful considering the other claims you've made about the game that turned out to not actually be true
4king and escaping in this game isn't reflective of one's skill. Veterans will tell you that. Everyone else in this community will tell you that.
I think you misunderstanding my intention of this interaction. I don't care to convince you, especially considering the previous contents of your posts in this thread. You showcased several misconceptions and some flat out lies trying to talk about how the game is like this and that and it turns out to be dubious assumptions or simply not true to fit your own confirmation bias. I'm merely illustrating your train of thought for saying the game doesn't require skill isn't really as sound as you want to market it to be
Its mostly because of you can do flashy plays in shooters that are very easy to comprehend even for people who have no clue about the game which makes them easier to point to when thinking about something skillful. But yea dbd is a difficult game and with its insane rng you have always room for improvement its just unfortunately not rewarded past a certain point.
Id say in a weird way dead by daylight is close to a strategy game when it comes to what kind of skillset you need to succeed.
-
@kyogul said:
There's a common thing I've heard, some from veterans and some from non-veterans, saying the game is too easy and doesn't involve skill. Tru3 is one of the streams who often says something along the lines of "this game doesn't take talent/skill, it takes game knowledge". Others will often say something like people overrate how much it takes to get good at this game and it doesn't take a lot, Well,
First of all, that doesn't even make sense. Your ability to have skill and talent comes from developing that knowledge. And if said knowledge is so easy to obtain then why is it taking everyone at least hundreds of hours to get in the beginning stages of being competent, and thousands to potentially become good?
There's no excuse for not being able to get better. There are tonnes of resources online for how to get better at the game for both sides. Yet for some reason even with all of these resources, it's still taking people so much time to get better, but yet you still have people who call the game easy to play.
If it was that easy then why is someone who has 400 hours not almost identical to someone with 2000+ hours, let alone 1000? If this game was as easy to learn as some people make it out to be, then why is it that the skill tiers are so distinct from one another, particularly by the amount of hours someone plays? And this is very evidenced by the complaints of "rainbow" matchmaking, or matchmaking not within particularly rank tiers.
Why is it that these said people who say the game takes "no skill" and is "easy" are the ones who themselves have thousands of hours in the game? If it was that easy what took you so long to get to the level you're at now?
Their point most likely is that this game has very very few mechanically difficult things to do which makes getting good accessible to wider range of people. Memorizing every single tile and how to play them against and as every killer against varying difficulty of players while taking in consideration 140 perks takes tons of time. This game is over 90% game knowledge that doesent make it a game that requires no skill but a game that requires diffrent kind of skill from many other games especially shooters.
-
You play to have fun why care about what random people on the internet tell you what you can and cant do. Both sides have very unfun mechanics but its the devs job to figure out what to change or limit.

Not all PC players talk bad about Console people, but there's certain people on PC who act like their platform is the better of the two in terms of "skill". Yes Dead By Daylight came to your platform first, but that doesn't give you any right to talk bad about another platform just cause you embrace an elitist attitude. People who play on console have been through a lot, and yet PC people tend to ignore that. Don't believe me, well I can name quite a list of things.
Horrible optimization - This will always be the biggest issue for console people, the worst fps drop I ever experienced was at least 10 fps with Doctor when the Stranger Things chapter came out. You're literally playing a powerpoint presentation, meanwhile a game like Rocket League runs at an incredible 60 fps on console for PS4. Also the DBD tutorial runs at 60 fps, why can the base game not do that?
Horrible sensitivity - 360's were terrible to hit before the sensitivity increase because you literally couldn't turn your camera fast enough in the direction the survivor was going to hit them. Which lead to a lot of people being insulted for being juked thanks to terrible sensitivity..
Console feedback - This is something I want to point out because it's hard for us console people to give feedback on certain things because we get ignored quite a bit.
Killers being handicapped - Everyone who plays on console knows how awful it feels at times to play Blight, since your turn rate is reduced massively and thus making it harder to do things that PC players can do with Blight. Oni was terrible to play on release for console because you couldn't even turn at all when trying to Demon Dash, thankfully this was addressed and fixed and hopefully something will be done for console Blight's.
Toxicity - PC players can act like they've experienced toxicity worse, but at least you can hide you're little chat box to not see toxic comments. Meanwhile us console people have to go into our privacy settings, and make our messages private and change our friend request settings so we don't have to deal with the endless barrage of toxic comments. Also I generally believe that console toxicity is worse than PC personally.
So yeah if you're gonna insult console people, at least acknowledge the amount of stress we've been through before you insult our platform. At least us console players don't stretch screen our screens out for advantages, at least we don't use Surround Sound to give us easier Spirit matches, at least we don't put macros on our flashlights to annoy people, at least we don't abuse exploits that aren't allowed in game. I know we don't have the resources to do any of this stuff, but I'm just Saiyan. In terms of skill I think we match up with you PC players pretty good, not at Blight but at with other killers and survivor definitely.
Rant over.
Good post. :)
The people who hink that consolre players are worse generally just ignore their experiences with bad pc players to form this stereotype.
The game just harder to play on a controller it does not make the player worse.

How is this fair? Yeah nurse is the hardest killer to learn and master but...it's still not a excuse to have an insta easy mode.
Nurse has alot of counterplay and most nurses are easier to beat than clowns. You you just need to keep playing safe and not greed. Also you can use so many tricks with LOS that it is genuinely impressing to go against a good nurse that can down you. Some maps give her the edge a bit but the biggest mistake ive seen for years in soloq is people dont change their playstyle while playing against a nurse and it results into giving the nurse really easy blinks and getting downed in 20 seconds.

There's something to be said for this. The theme of the survivor role imo should be despair, but how many swf groups actually feel this helpless dread? Certainly not groups that can complete gens in 4 minutes.
I mean it's a bummer only escaping every 3rd game or so, but the rush of helplessness solo provides is unrivaled.
I dont know about the despair but my mind melts if i play too much swf as it becomes bit too easy to win against average killers and against those rare one we need to try against we are still messing around and lose anyways.
tldr: soloq is way more entertaining aslong as you dont expect to escape every round but still work for everyone escaping. Some games are easier and some harder.

I will have to admit that I don't mind playing friendly matches either to get more bloodpoints or just to be nice. Usually I'll be friendly if someone DC'd.
I don't mind a friendly killer due to how toxic most people can be, such as camping Buba, teabagging Ghostface, etc.
But what do you guys think about Friendly killers?
Edit/Note: I am currently stuck in rank 16 due to only getting matched up against ranks 9-1. I'm not even kidding about that. Thus why I have resorted to being less aggressive in most matches.(I will however, target anyone who taunts me to chase them)
Because of long ques and dc penalty i will go out of my way to only be a shithead to people who farm and are friendly. Also not participating in regural gameplay is one reporting category so i will usually report them afterwards too. I play this game to have fun and if you make me waste 10-20 minutes for few fex extra bloodpoints in a match you deserve the toxic behaviour in my opinion.

If you've been playing SWF like me, you have been sheltered from the horrors of "the solo experience". When you see a good teammate, you promptly congratulate them, because they're a diamond in the rough. Every one else is the most boosted assortment of players you've ever seen. DCers, immersed players, selfish players, clueless players, Self-carers, pallet wasters, etc. They're a dime a dozen and there's no escape from them. You will see them in all ranks, from grey to red. Your job is to carry them because they're little babies, or play for yourself and get chewed out by them. You can do a 5-gen chase and usually no more than 1 gen will pop. You can take a protection hit for them, and they'll go down 5 seconds later. It's mismatching at its worst.
All of this happens because there's a) not enough ranks and b) no MMR system. All it takes is a little play time and a few carries, and you're in red ranks. Beginners are getting matched with veterans, especially after every rank reset, which makes no sense because everyone gets rank reseted at the same time, but it happens.
Solo is an unviable mode to play in if you want to win, because your teammates do not, but the killer does. That's the problem, and until it's solved, the competitive player base is gonna be FORCED to play SWF and/or meta perks.
Soloq is doable with bad perks or without perks. Swf is just more consistant in how the games go and i find that more boring.

Is it against terms of service or just bad sportsmanship / poor etiquette?
They fixed this once and it destroyed ques so it got reverted. Would be nice if they found a fix but it would most likely destroy ques above purple ranks.

Survivors are escaping and still insults me in end game chat. They calling me a tunneler but everyone have been hooked twice...
I know the most popular opinion is that killers are toxic etc but its wrong survivors players are way more and insults killers for nothing.
Its very sad because this game is very fun but players are just trash people, sorry to say that...
I just want to say : Behaviour please do your job and ban players like this from the game. They are very hurtful for free, with no reason. There are games rules but they dont care because they are not banned and still in this game.
I just start to think that killer is the bad role and whatever your gameplay, kind or toxic, survivors just like to insult killers because they are the bad role.
For as many teammates that i have like this ive gotten slugged for 4 minutes because i spawned ontop of their ruin.
Both sides have problem people and its mostly the people who only play one side.

I love playing steathy and being sneaky so the killer won't find me. Its intense to know that you could be found at anytime. But lately I feel the game is not allowing for more stealth opportunities. I don't wanna run the killer for 5 gens, others might find that really enjoyable but not me. There a multiple killer perks, addons and abilities that can easily locate survivors trying to hide taking away all stealth and basically destroying a certain playstyle. Survivors do have stealth perks but some are not too good or they only handle one aspect of detection. The cherries on top of all of this is that the community greatly hates people who do play stealthy, survivors hate their stealthy teammates and killers hate stealthy survivors. With all of these factors, stealthing doesn't seem to exist anymore.
Stealth is very often hated because over relying on it is as bad as over altruism.
It is a very good way to make killer waste more time aslong as it doesent negatively impact your team mates.
If the killer never finds you then your friends are dying faster and if you get found in a bad spot youll go down faster.
Often it is a good way of wasting the killers time before initiating a chase adding an extra 10-20 seconds on it giving your team more time to do gens.
However most stealthy people never do anything else leaving them to throwing most of the game and it is very frustrating to play with.
