After the Ruin nerf, Stakeout pretty much got gutted but now that great skill checks only give a 1%bonus it's completely useless and needs a complete rework along with several other perks.

They actually buffed stake out, it now doubles the amount of progress from A great.

I don't know if it's just my experience currently, but there's been an increase in Huntress players and all of them seem incapable of playing Huntress.

Just to give some perspective, we were on lampkin lane, and the whole survivor team except one was standing on this 'balcony' platform in one of the houses. This balcony was in front of the house with a doorway onto this platform, and had a generator on it. The three of us alternated between working on the generator whilst the others dodged the hatchets that were being thrown by the reluctant (?) huntress, who preferred to stand in front of the house and throw them at us instead of just coming up and smacking us. The other survivor was sat behind her, just clicking his flashlight whilst he waited for her to turn around, and the only moment she turned around was to go get more hatchets and even then, she ignored his existence.

It was a funny game, but most of my huntress games have had the same sentiment.

Was there some form of shadow buff to huntress for the sudden inclination to play huntress? because im confused lol

They are doing rift challenges of course

  • I'd prefer samara from the ring, similar monsters but more character to that one

Lol, as I said, you don't need NOED when you are running builds like those. But tell me, where does "do bones" factor into all that? There's plenty of players who are not good enough to 3-4k even with those builds, and as a survivor if you somehow manage to get to the endgame against them.....well get 1 shot and 1 hooked noob.

Even if you are garbage, you can still get at least a 2-3k by getting 2 kills in 5 gens and then collecting your free NOED kill. That's the end of discussion really. How people still defend it is beyond me, probably just relying on it for kills.

I started using noed when ruin was changed because I don't typically play the most powered killers because its too easy. But Gens were just going too fast and nothing stops it. I'm a really good killer, but getting gen rushed sucks. There is nothing quite as satisfying as punishing a swat swf who gen rushed the ######### out of you with noed. I'll probably stop running it now that God loops are fixed, maybe!

ClickyClicky - These mechanics are not fun

Ghostwithaface - Well this player did it becaus...

Let me just stop you right there buddy. See above. The motivation does not change anything so just stop with the excuses. You're purposefully trying to misconstrue the argument to excuse it. Players should not be freely able to act like this even if they had an e-beef with someone. If anything that just makes it worse.

How is it not a killer issue when having a grudge against someone allows you to troll them like this? nobody is saying all killers play like this, what we're saying is killers should not physically be able to play like this.

    Bleed out option for surviors.

While I generally disagree with most things you say, I do agree that some killer players are just aholes. Actually more than some, a lot. I don't know what's gone wrong in their lives to come and take it out on people in a video game, but they are damaged, and don't see or care that they aren't playing a one player game against a computer. I'm a big fan of the idea of either deducting serious blood points for camping before the gates are powered, like they could actually get negative blood points in a match for doing it, not just zero,or pausing the hook altogether while the killer is within a certain distance. Moris and keys need to go too. There are many things that could be implemented to make this game less toxic, I'm not sure why they don't do something about it

Meanwhile, I will be running around with builds like these and by the time you cleanse those 5 totems someone has already been mori'd. Not that you even need NOED on builds like these but it's more proving how dumb the perk is when you stack it with other overpowered things.

I like how you're bitching about noed, and bringing an ivory mori, something that's far more broken than noed and has no counter. If you can't 3-4k with the worst killers with no perks and no add ons bringing an ivory mori, you're trash at the game. Its like a killer whining about lithe or something when survivors are all using ds. Nonesense. Noed is fine

I don't care about losing, as long as the other side isn't toxic. I've befriended killers who down me with NoED in the end game after I cleansed four totems because I had a fun match, despite not escaping. I've befriended survivors who destroyed my hex totem, managed to finish the last gen in a good 3-gen, and went on to escape because again, it was fun. Winning and losing doesn't matter as much as getting to actually play the game.

Dude this is sooooo common in this forum. I post 3 paragraphs and you pick one of them and post an answer to an abstract little bit of what I say within it to counter it. What about the general message "you pay third of the total price for games that give you 1% of the playtime"? What about the other 2 paragraphs? Can't counter them so not worth replying to them?

I Learned a lesson yday, its best to ignore sairek he just likes to hear himself talk.

Well the funny thing is that player, was not just a killer. They were also a survivor who played against True. For if you look at the end of both videos i link to. You will see, the killer and survivor player share the same name.

    https://youtu.be/y00Y9imYoko?t=726

Now one could always say they are just two different players with the same name. Yet i find that unlikely. Since they share the very name. I find it highly more likely, they are the same person. Since well in one game they call True a baby huntress, type ez and in another someone with the same name, t bags him for the longest time before they mori him. It way more likely they are the same person. Making this a individual issue, not killers are the scum of the earth or this is years of pay back like Meg is making it out to be. No this is just one bad individual.

    https://youtu.be/Y3BZWSj0RJ4?t=586

Yes, A trash person is a trash person on either side.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Remember that the developers consider this perfectly fine gameplay.

Glad they are improving the killer experience every patch and ignoring the second-class players aka survivors 😀

    https://youtu.be/y00Y9imYoko?t=464

While The killer is clearly a douche, its sort of funny, like on family guy when they make a joke and it sucks but they keep repeating it until its funny

  • Its not really that bad if you play regularly, I'm surprised you haven't gotten it in the course of getting every other trophy. Start running saboteur and wglf, you'll get it in no time.

  • If you remove noed, there will be literally no reason for survivors to cleanse non hex totems. This would make gen rushing far worse. Totems are the closest thing to a secondary objective that there is. Noed is the only way to make these totems useful. Survivors either ignore the totems and possibly get hit with noed, half ass the totems (not necessarily anyone's fault, I am all for a totem counter so that solo gets brought up to speed as if swf on totems) and possibly get hit with noed, or they spend the extra time to break all the totems and eliminate any chance of noed. In my group I am designated totem guy, detectives hunch. We regularly spank rank 1 killers. Hunch makes short work of other hex perks too. Do the bones or face the consequences.

But it is unethical. I already explained why.

The only defense you've had on why it's ethical was "Identity V is worse" and "It's $10", which, I'm sorry, that's not how it works.

It's less unethical than most battle passes, like Smite's, which strongly encourages you to buy the paid track as soon as possible rather than letting you buy it whenever in the season like DBD does, but "is less unethical" isn't the same as "is not unethical".

Again, I'd prefer to just spend the $10 without having to dedicate 2 months worth of grinding for it with a time limit breathing over my neck or my money goes to waste. I just don't see how that's as ethical as just letting people buy said cosmetics from the store.

I See, so if they wanted you to pay $80 to unlock all the tiers and not have to play the game thats somehow better than giving people the option of actually playing to earn some stupid cosmetics? You clearly don't want to play this game not sure why you surf this forum.

I literally already explained what battle passes are, how they unethical and anti consumer, and why I don't like them. For you to ask "What's your point" means you aren't reading my posts. It shouldn't be hard to figure out. My posts aren't written to be riddles.

I'm not insulting your parenting by the way. I am criticizing your parenting. There is a difference between the two.

You seem very hung up on this $10 for some reason by the way, when all I said was that $10 has a lot of different values to a lot of people and for some people like me, it can be the difference between skipping a meal or not. You yourself said you make $300,000 a year, which is a lot less than many many other people make. So I don't know why this fact seems to surprise you to the point that you are hung up on it to the point that you are still trying to strawman it into a personal attack of some sort to the point that you seem actually offended that I don't want to buy a premium track to the game's battle pass for some reason.

I mean, I don't know where you're trying to go with this, but it's not working mate. Even with the unethical nature of the battle pass aside, I'm not going to buy something that's not worth my time or money. That's just basic common sense. And just like money, people put a different value on their time, and I value my time a lot. Our time on this world is very finite and the last thing I want to do is spend $10 to then have the ability to grind 250~300 hours, especially in this Rift where that would be the recolor of a cosmetic I already own and paid for without the grind. So yes, I am going to spend that $10 on something more worthwhile elsewhere.

Either way, I don't need to make $300,000 a year. I don't need all of the latest games. I don't need a top tier PC. I just enjoy writing and listening to my music and the wonderful company of friends that I have. That's all I want and that's what I have. I don't ask for anything more.

One thing I learned when I was very young is that when you don't have a lot of things, you learn to love and get to appreciate what you do have. This was an invaluable lesson to me. Worth more than $10. Worth more than $300,000 even.

This is probably why I don't fall for the Battle Pass' antics. They all like to go "Oh, look at all of this cool stuff you're missing if you don't pay~" and I'm like "I don't need it. I'll just enjoy what I have instead".

And my point was that the way dbd is doing it is not unethical. Many games with continuing support like this game has charge a monthly subscription fee. Dbd does it differently, with cheap expansions, optional cosmetics, and an optional rift. The rift is even a one time $10 purchase for life. If you play the game enough to finish it, you may as well get it. If you don't play the game enough to make $10 worth it, you shouldn't buy it. The way that goddamn identity v game is doing it is extremely scummy. They are not the same. Everyone I know that actually plays this game doesn't mind supporting the game with $10, because we enjoy it. You can't even see a 90 minute movie or get a meal for $10.

I don't care how much money you have or how much money you or you kid can throw away. He's 9. He should not have the ability to spend money on in app purchases in the first case. He's a child. He physically lacks the mental capacity to understand the psychology behind these schemes. The proof of which is the fact that he blew all of his hard-earned money on a gamble that you could have helped prevent in the first place by either not allowing him to be able to spend his money because of how much mobile games just love to nickle and dime people, or by trying to educate him in the first place before that happened.

Quit with the "I make more money than you" e-peen attitude and start properly protecting your damn child. I have no doubts that he's an amazing kid -- but he's still a kid and the reality is that he is absolutely a prime target for companies to milk the cash out of. Children are easy to manipulate because their brains have not fully developed yet.

I'm not a leech. I got gifted this game for my birthday, along with a number of its DLCs. I paid for a couple of those DLCs too if I felt I would enjoy them enough (I regret buying the Ghost Face one because he's broken and his stalk doesn't work half the time).

I'm not too much of a gamer. I maybe spend $30~40 a year on games and that's a "maybe". I tend to spend most of my time reading and writing, or listening and making music for myself. I enjoy DBD, but I do not have the free time, nor enjoy DBD to the extent that I want to play it everyday to grind for maybe only one or two cosmetics I care about when I would much prefer to spend those $10 to just buy the cosmetic like normal even if I didn't get my money back and skip the 250~300 hour grind.

Imagine calling someone entitled, because they aren't able to just buy a cosmetic and don't want to have to put a 250~300 hour grind on top of it. The Rift could remove the auric cells from the paid track and I would actually feel more inclined to buy it because 1/3rd of the filler would be gone -- not less inclined.

But as usual, when people are caught in the corner in an debate they have no candle to, they just go with the personal attacks instead.

Oh well. You can keep calling me a leech if that makes you feel better. At the very least I'm not a whale nor a sheep.

So Whats your point? You can't afford it and don't have the time to spend on it, so you're gonna be a hater about it? Just a troll or what? Come to insult peoples parenting and be generally asinine and thats it? Sorry that $10 makes or breaks you. Bhvr clearly wants customers not leeches, and I don't blame them because being in business costs money. If you don't have the time to play this game, don't come cry on this games forums about it. Seems stupid to me.

The rift is, indeed, a battlepass. I agree.

I also agree with your final sentence. I have a 10-year-old. You know how many Overwatch lootboxes he has purchased in the two years he's played that game with us (the rest of us have been there since Beta). Absolutely zero. You know why? Because they are the ultimate rip-off in video gaming.

Why in the living hell would this parent allow their 9-year-old to spend $60 on lootboxes? Even more of a question: Why would they publicly admit to it? Perhaps they should be doing less DbD and more parenting.

Man you guys are quick to attack someone's parenting out of total ignorance, my kid does some acting and probably makes more money than you people crying about $10, hes sort of an amazing kid, part of that is he gets some of that money to spend and he likes to spend money on games. He made a mistake without telling me and it won't happen again, but at least im not raising him to be a freeloader like your guys parents did, that doesn't have a spare $10 (fully refunded btw) to offer 70 days of entertainment. If everyone was as tight with their wallets as you guys there wouldn't be a dbd to play, so you're welcome that I'm covering the expenses for players like you.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1244957#Comment_1244957

That's not how definitions work and you know it.

You're also blatantly ignoring the fact that the devs themselves called the Rift A BATTLE PASS. They did it in their own surveys when questioning about how the players would "feel about a battle pass coming to Dead by Daylight". This should be the final nail in the coffin that the Rift is in fact, a battle pass.

I don't even understand why you're even trying to strawman Identity V in this. How Identity V and DBD functions isn't even remotely the same. Does Identity V have a scummy monetization scheme? Sure. Scummier than the Rift even? Perhaps. But the game is also free to play and DBD isn't. And just because one might be scummier than the other, doesn't mean the Rift isn't scummy -- it just means it may be slightly less scummy than the other thing.

Just because EA tried to label loot boxes as "surprise mechanics" didn't mean that they weren't lootboxes. The same goes for here. Just because Dead by Daylight calls their battle pass "The Rift" in game, doesn't mean it isn't a battle pass.

    • It functions like a battle pass
    • It behaves like a battle pass
    • It progresses like a battle pass
    • It has seasons like a battle pass
    • It has a free track and a paid track like a battle pass

It's a god damn battle pass.

Now stop being a bad parent and letting your adolescent child waste his entire savings on loot boxes.

I make over $300k a year so letting my kid blow $60 means jack ######### to me and doesnt make me a bad parent. If you're going to cry about $10, one time, and having to sink time in to them game to complete the rift, to get your $10 back that you can buy every rift with, its pathetic. And since you wanted to get personal and say I'm a bad parent, I say stop being a leech, if you can't find $10 to spare without starving you should probably spend your time doing something more productive than playing video games.

  • If you're having trouble now its because you were abusing infinites before. My groups having no trouble whatsoever, and it feels like the games are more fair all around. Git gud

$10 can be a lot of money for a lot of people.

Money has different value for everyone. $10 may not be a lot of money to you, but for me and a lot of other people, it can be the difference between being able to eat tomorrow or not.

More specifically I'm not going to buy the premium track, because I think battlepasses are very anti consumer. They are designed to manipulate people to not only spend more money, but to invest a ridiculous amount of time into a game as well, and I refuse to support that, much less so in a game that's not even free to play.

The rift isn't a battle pass. My 9 year old kid comes to me yesterday and said he spent $60 he's been saving up on this stupid game identity v, opening random boxes trying to get some rare stuff that you're supposed to be able to get. He got absolutely nothing beyond trash and is super disappointed. I told him that game is abusing him and its trash and to never spend money on it again. He's disappointed/crushed and ripped off. A $10 dbd rift that is refunded if you finish it is not the same, sorry.

If you feel like grinding another 250 hours to get back your $10. Which, 100 of those hours will be JUST dedicated to getting said $10 back.

Or y'know, most people make more than that in just 1 hour of work.

Also, most battle passes actually put the premium currency in the FREE track rather than the paid one.

You Accidently bring up a good point. Its only $10, people that cry about $10 I cannot sympathize with

  • A lot of them are pretty good, huntress, spirit, plague, legion, Kate all got nice ones. Plus a couple nice odds and ends like nea head and meg pants.

  • I am too actually lol

  • Played a few games on both sides, ps4.

The killer sensitivity change is a big plus.

For some reason every match its like someone played the purple extra mist offering. Its great really makes the game feel spookier than normal I hope they leave it.

    Games seem more fair.

Only downside so far is i got unhooked on lerys between two bunk beds, and got stuck. Couldn't get out, the asshat demogorgon came and downed me, couldn't crawl out, got healed, couldn't get out again, downed and hooked, then when unhooked again I was free. That was the coolest dbd ever.

I don't even know what your post means. Who said a 3k for killer is a loss? I said if I was the last one at the hatch against a scummy mori playing killer, I'd sit at the hatch all day long to prevent more groups from having to deal with skilless players that can't hack it without ez mode. If I can do it without moris as a killer, so can most anyone, noone wants to play against that crap. Ever.

I had a match where I killed three and a Nea had evidently found the hatch because notifications were blasting off (hopping back and forth on a pallet). I told her to just exit and asked why the BM. She didn't, so I told her I wasn't coming and that I promise she can leave without the killer watching. Three minutes later, she realized I wasn't lying and decided to exit.

I don't even go to exit gates anymore, screw them, they're not getting that idiotic satisfaction.

Cool Story bro. You waste your own time rather than have to face the humiliation of someone jumping in the hatch after you mori the other three. If I was the nea I would have sat there forever, because moris are bull crap and so is any killer that uses them.

  • Wow what a winner post. Rather than improve your skill level, which in this game does not take that long, you're going to hobble yourself by running crap builds that don't make you any better at the game and get your frustrations out on people that have no input on what this game does. You're so awesome.

Not particularly. Nor do I enjoy playing against survivors who flashlight me the whole time and hit me with DS after I've already hooked two of their teammates, but I deal with it because games in which two sides compete are never fun for everyone all the time and that's just how it is. It's nice when my opponents go out of their way to ensure I have a good time, but I would never feel so entitled as to expect it of them.

Incidentally, I never said that the playstyle I'm defending is my own, so rhetorical questions about what I personally enjoy aren't really relevant. Nor did I say that playing competitively is fun for everyone involved - in fact, I explicitly pointed out the opposite in my very first comment on the thread. Please take some time to read what I'm saying in context before jumping down my throat over points I never made.

My point is its not only not fun for the opposing side when someone goes hard-core jerkoff, its also indecent. The games busted and the devs are inept at fixing it in a timely manner. Many simple things could be done to improve matches, but aren't. Exploiting this is no different than doing cheap ass loser things in other games that only the lowest of the low noobs engage in, but in this community game after game lately is ebony mori, op add on, tunneling or camping, Franklin's demise trash killers. If I can more often than not get 3-4k without playing this way so can others. The swf death squads are far far more rare, and the killer has the benefit of if being bagged by toxic jerkoffs can go full ahole and punish it. As survivor I don't play this way but am getting hit with ebony mori after ebony mori, its total trash bs.

But yes, most people play with their friends because it is fun. Most people run meta perks because being able to pull off powerful moves in games is fun. Winning is fun, and for many players, sharing that victory with friends makes it even more fun. All of that should go without saying.

The original post was based on two assumptions: first, that people who determinedly pursue victory do so to the exclusion of an enjoyable gaming experience, rather than to enhance it, and second, that everyone finds enjoyment or fulfillment in the same things to begin with. The point of the post, as I saw it, was to question what, on such bases, would motivate players to be "sweaty", and the point of my comment was to address that question by pointing out the flaws in the reasoning that led to it.

To put it more simply, the OP was essentially saying, "Being sweaty isn't fun, so why do you do it?". And the simple answer to that question is, "Because being sweaty is fun."

Do you enjoy matches against double slow down Freddy with Franklin's and an ebony? Iri head infantry belt huntress with an ebony mori? Hook camping deathslinger with monitor and an ebony mori? Hook camping silent all seeing wraith with an ebony? Playing against killers that pull out all the jerk moves IS NOT FUN. It might be fun if they suck and you can clown them anyway, but at red ranks they are usually decent and they have stacked the deck so much in their favor that its lame as hell. THAT is sweat, and its not fun for anyone. This isn't war or the Olympics, its an f'ing video game

  • I get that you're trying to say I'm a survivor main and you don't know me, I play both sides equally and I can tell you are killer biased. Survivors shouldn't be toxic aholes either, unless they're taunting beating some jackass killer player with his ebony, keys are bs, post game hate messages are bs, teabagging bs, abusing ds is bs, thats really about all survivors can do to be Jerks that I can think of offhand. If everyone played both sides it'd be a lot friendlier of a game
