Man I really hate when people complain about gen times and use raw math as proof. I agree games can move too fast occasionally and something should be done, but when you give these examples you completely remove all variables that extend the game. Downing a single person drastically slows the entire game down. You now have the guy on the hook not doing a gen, you can chase the guy going for the rescue, and now a third guy has to go save. With one down, you've reduced the amount of people working on gens by 75%. You can't just say "Gens take X long to complete." That isn't how the game works.
Says he hates people using math to support gens being too fast... proceeds to give a simplified math problem to remove 75% of survivors from gens

I’ve tried spies not a fan, it also feels more map dependent

Isnt discordance also the only perk that is better in the first version then the 3rd because then your getting info every 8 seconds instead of 12. (Basically the cooldowns shorter i mean)
Generally, yes. There are a few other perks where situationally they are better at lower ranks. Whispers rank 1 on pig for example lights up at 40 m so you can crouch before the survivors hear your heartbeat, rather than rank 3 where whispers lights up at the same time they hear you coming.

Only played two games tonight, both as GF and if you ask me he is FUN FUN FUN to play as! He’s solid too, but more important to me is fun. I ran BBQ, Ruin, Nurse calling and haunted ground so it wasn’t the slowdown build Tru seems to have made popular but it’s still pretty good.

I said hook, as in the charge bar while hooking them that goes up in a second. Imagine if survivors had an addon that made standing there and hooking someone you were carrying take even 15 seconds.
That's basically Swing Chains/Jump Rope + Red Paint Brush + Ruin + Dying Light + Pop, except even longer while on a gen, sitting still, doing nothing. Btw none of these things only give 5 extra seconds afaik. Thanataphobia I believe gives like 12 extra seconds with everyone injured.
The things you're complaining about in your post have nothing to do with what I'm saying. If you're in a chase, you're actively doing something. If you're sitting on a generator for another 40+ seconds, you're literally stuck sitting still.
Thana does add 12 seconds IF all four are injured at once, dying light requires the killer to hook people, those are both rewarding the killer for doing something. If you’re all injured at once, why? That’s the point of the build is to punish people who choose gen rush for adrenaline over regular healing.

Slowed down is one thing, but Dying Light + Ruin + Pop is already slowing the game down to a crawl on most normal killers. Add Red Paint Brush and Swing Chains and you're never gonna get a gen done. You have to sit there forever. Imagine if you took 80 seconds to hook someone, and then survivors had addons that could make that time longer. I'm not saying DCing against it is right, but it's certainly a little more than a minor annoyance to see a Freddy with those 3 perks. The problem isn't Freddy imo, it's more than some killers want the gens to go so slowly that no one ever gets out, so BHVR comes up with more and more perks specifically to do that, not thinking about how strong they are paired together, while ALSO having a killer that naturally slows the game down with two addons that make it so that the only time you can realistically prevent that slowdown for even a little while is to be hooked(seriously, try walking to a clock every time you fall asleep. You'd never get the gens done).
Uhm survivors DO have addons that make it take longer for you to hook them. At a basic level Balanced, sprint burst, lithe all give you enough distance on a killer to add at least 5 seconds to a chase, more if it lets you get to another pallet.

Whilst its a great information gathering perk, i do see why you'd want to get rid of it. Sometimes it never triggers in a match, or when it does its just a sad warning this gens gonna pop soon and you can't do anything to stop it.
So anyways, it depends on what flavour of killer you are. If youre a trap based killer (hag, trapper etc) then you dont have to worry about finding the survivors, thats an afterthought. As a stealth based killer, at the start of the match patrol the edge based generators, as thats likely where survivors spawned or traveled to.
As one of the more traditional "im hunting you" killers (billy, nurse, spirit) you dont have the luxury of stealth so use any mobility powers if applicable and beeline for generators. And on the others more M1 or slow killers (bubba, huntress, plague etc) you sadly just have to hope, or run information perks.
Now more generic tips can be, at the start of a match head towards any totems (if applicable), to potentially catch survivors in your bait. Assuming you're like the vast majority of the playerbase and are using bbq, that in itself can work as your information perks.
Now in my opinion, discordance is great, helps prevent wondering around in the early game, warns you off quick gen rushes, inceased odds in obsession finding and goes great with pgtw, but i find its counterable nature too constricting, so i would reccomend swapping for whispers
It is, also in my opinion, too helpful to have a information gathering perk besides bbq, even if it seems unnecessary, and to me whispers has no equal
I’m really trying to learn to use whispers efficiently, even now I appreciate how it can tell me when no one is around but I need to learn a bit better how to pinpoint people with it

Forever Freddy is using slow down add ons with slow down perks. While in dream state you can slow progress of gen repair. PGTW makes it take longer after you kick the gen. That is a Forever Freddy build that you just ran because you’re slowing gen progression with your addons
I agree, as someone who actually plays Freddy I almost always use chains and rope and I consider that slow enough. Running any combo of Ruin, sloppy, pop, Thana after that makes it a forever Freddy.
Ive done the super crazy slow Ruin, Thana, butcher and pop all at once and it wasn’t even fun for me. I got a 4 kill but I think the game took almost half an hour. I’d rather lose in 15 minutes and move on, which also means more fun I hope for the survivors.

Tbf, people already hated him. Mainly because of his reveal mechanic being buggy. Then as you said tru3 played him and others did the same and now people are just getting vocally loud.
His reveal being buggy caused a lot of people to avoid playing him too, now that they see you can play him without stalking and he’s still okay or even good a lot of people are picking him up to learn.
-
I would like to see some kind of lasting effect, not sure the balance issues but something like mangled the rest of the game after removing a trap? To similar bleeding yourself out to get the key.
-
The funny thing is I used to play GF without stalk, because I enjoy playing pig in crouch with zero terror. Has nothing to do with being strong or OP it’s just more fun than chasing people like regular M1 killers.
No one used to complain to me though even when I would 4K, 5 gen, but now that Tru does it the nerf boys are out.

@Xerge said:
Also, you can't really expect the killer to go for 6, 7 or 8 chases when four survivors are still alive and there are only 2 gens left. I don't think survivors think they should be rewarded with free escapes. The killer is not your team mate after all and you wouldn't make it easier for the killer either. I mostly play survivor and I don't have any problem with tunneling depending on the situation, but I agree it's boring, annoying and frustrating as hell to get tunneled to death when not a single gen has been done and ruin is still active.
The part about killer not being your teammate occurs to me too, Like survivors get mad if you don’t let the last one have hatch and decide to kill all 4... I always ask, “well if you got all 5 gens who was going to stay behind to let me hook them?”
-
@Blueberry said:
If the killer literally ignores everyone there and tunnels into you every time as soon as you're off the hook and he was camping you as well then sure, it feels bad.
However, if the killer just happens to run into me again after I just happened to be the last one that was hooked, that is totally fair game. The thing is that THIS is usually the scenario where people like to scream "tunneler" when it really isn't. Just because I was the last one hooked and the killer ran into me I don't expect him to be like, "Oh crap sorry bro didn't realize it was you again, keep working on that generator, I'll go randomly wonder around the rest the map hoping to find someone. Who really needs map pressure, am I right?" Which is basically what a lot of people actually expect ironically or you're "sweaty".
Also, if one of my teammates gives me a stupid hook rescue right in front of the killer I'm not blaming the killer, that's my own teammates fault for being stupid. I will and I expect the killer when I'm survivor to throw me a hit in that scenario because I don't want that bad teammate getting rewarded points for doing that. If I'm the killer I'll usually leave them on the ground a little and go after someone else to give them a chance before I come back, but I'm definitely not blaming the killer for that scenario.
This, some people are just really bad at avoiding the killer or hiding in any way.

It’s not a bad idea to get one survivor out of the match mid-game if you know they’re on death hook. But then I wouldn’t really consider that tunnelling, though I know some people would disagree.
Real tunnelling, i.e. focusing on one survivor and ignoring everyone else, is bad because it leaves three survivors with absolutely no pressure or fear whatsoever. It makes you completely predictable. The other survivors know you’ll hang around the hook to tunnel the guy as soon as he’s saved so they’ll let them wait, then you’ll have to work through BT and DS. So by the time you’ve tunnelled the one guy to death, everyone else has already done all the gens. This is the sort of tunnelling that is strategically bad - it works against uncoordinated teams but against survivors with experience you’ll struggle to kill more than one.
I think too many survivors have a way different definition of tunnel than I do. Like you said, focusing on one person and purposely ignoring others is tunneling. Just going after the first person you see if they’re the only person isn’t tunneling.

Exactly! I mean out of all the DCs you see, against Freddy or anyone else, how many have really valid reasons to DC? 1 out of 100 maybe

@Mtom912 said:
Because it’s better to not tunnel anyway, even when someone gets farmed right in front of you, it’s better to go for the saver Instead, why?
one hit cancels save animation, then they save during your cool down and they lose their sprint burst, down them no risk of ds or bt, person who got saved will probably go heal and won’t save for being farmed, killers typically have bbq can find a 3rd survivor, and the 4th survivor has to save, 0 people on gens, ez map pressure
I guess the specific time is when you’re not near the unhook, come back and see only the unhooked survivor. The “survivor handbook for killers,” says leave them alone and find someone else but why?

As a killer I instantly get put into lobbies and usually all the survivors are Ranks 1-4. I am currently Rank 4. If it is a SWF group usually there is an odd rank or two. Sometimes Rank 11 and sometimes Rank 16. I’ve matched with all Rank 19 and one red rank. That is some dumb matchmaking to be honest.
As a survivor I wait about 5-8 minutes for a lobby and the killer is usually a lower rank than me. Like Rank 6. I am currently a Rank 2 survivor.
Matchmaking should be the average rank of an SWF group honestly. A Rank 2 and a Rank 18 should be matched with a Ranks 8-12. It would make lobby times so much quicker for both survivor and killers. I’m all for faster lobbies.
That’s how it used to be and it’s very unfun for the killer lots of times. A rank 9 killer against two rank 1 and two rank 17 survivors will have a tough game. If he sees the 1s he will struggle to catch them, even if he leaves them to find their weaker teammate they will flashlight save, body block, etc. If he somehow catches the 17s multiple times he’ll be accused of tunneling, sound fun?

Yeah, it is pretty balanced. Which is why I wonder why they DCed.
One of three things. First is they don’t even wait to see if it’s Forever Freddy, they just DC as soon as they log in and see the dream countdown starting.
Second they may feel just the Rope is enough slowdown to annoy them.
Third, they see other people and even streamers complain and DC so they see Freddyb and think it’s the cool thing to do.
-
I agree, watch the hoards of defenders that DCers get because “I have a real life,” I mean that’s a lame excuse. If you have 4-5 games being interrupted by real life stuff every day you clearly don’t have time for online games.
Also funny how the kids always seem to need someone when they get downed the first time.

It's working as intended as far as the +/- 6 ranks thing is concerned.
Rank 1 survivor and rank 4 killer at the moment and I rarely see anything else than reds and purples unless a SWF party with wide rank spread is involved. Obviously others might have different experiences, but it's working as intended for me at least.
Definitely not working as intended. Had a game yesterday with me at rank 2, a rank 1, rank 14 and 15 all solo matches against a rank 4 killer.
Similar other situations all day and I saw it on streamers too.

Ohh ok I didn't realize the 1000 Bonus points without an offering, Thanks. Still.. There's not enough offerings in the Web considering that if you burn an offering, there's a chance you don't get a special gen finished at all, making it more costly to get to the next offering in the web than just ignoring it alltogether.
Right, the other thing is as a surviving you aren’t sure how “worth it,” it is to use a pestul unless you know if your team is using them too and when I ask half the time mike answers so I don’t use one. Then I see 3 others used and I’m like #########

I believe next Tuesday or Wednesday is correct

There's not enough petal offerings in the bloodweb, and you still don't get bonus points for completing a pumpkin gen or using an event hook without that offering. Not exciting.
You do get 1000 extra even if you don’t use the offering, but 3000 if you do plus extra gens are special. If all 4 survivors and the killer use the pestuls and your team does all 5 special gens you’re looking at 15k bonus... that’s a lot of IFS... I would rather just use a green offering for 100% extra altruism and get the 8k within my own control

I think you're asking the wrong question. It's not just what you do, it's also the expectations of your opponents.
When you as a killer run after an injured survivor (again and again), it's quite boring and the result is predictable as expected. Why should someone do this to him or herself several times?
If you then make it difficult to get off the hook, which is your right, then you can assume that you're only after kills anyway and some people just don't see a game or only a short one.
Maybe you can take it a little easier. Change your prey more often, try it without Perks, give yourself time to set traps and time for your opponents to escape from at least a few traps.
You'll make your game more interesting if you make moves that weren't expected.
uou mean make it easy on the survivors so instead of DC they can teabag at pallets and day Get gud EZ game in chat afterwards

Wraiths addons are superior to ghostfaces in every aspect in such anti heal setup.
I used to watch True and Hexy in 2016-2017, but once I learned the game I understood why they are not as good as their view count in twitch / youtube indicate. I dont watch Puppers, but as Scott mentioned in this thread him 4k'ing 30 games in a row with LF doesnt make LF good, survivors were just bad.
He didn’t mention what ranks he was at with LF, for all we know it was a streak that took him from 15-5 for example plus we’re taking his word for all of this as opposed to games you can watch

To my understanding, he played 20 games in a row, using GhostFace, and never lost. That was streamed live, and he did get some decent Survivors this time.
The fact of the matter is, GhostFace's ability to turn off TR and Red Stain silently, makes him a better Wraith. His stalk is, usually, more trouble than its' worth.
I will say this about the 20 game streak, I’ve watched Tru a lot and he’s good with killer so most likely he would have gotten very close to the same results with nearly any killer running this build so to say the stream proves GF worth is a bit of a stretch.
I think GF is very good, but I’m guessing he wouldn’t have lost with Nurse, spirit, Freddy, Billy maybe even wrath Myers and pig the way he played
-
I had a game yesterday where I made sure to hook everybody, I mean EVERY SINGLE SURVIVOR, once before getting anyone twice and then all of them twice before death hooking anyone and I still got called a tunneling camper
-
I gave up even trying to figure it out. My BEST GUESS is some of these people are trying an “X escape in a row,” type of thing and they somehow don’t count DC against things they feel are unfair such as Iri huntress, anti spirit or nurse, people who down them twice, people who grab them at pallets, people who run Ruin, people who run Thana, not getting the map they want, missing a skill check.......

People alraedy do that anyways with new Chapters.
Save up 1 million BP, save up the dailies, profit.
Right now you can save 1 millions, plus max 180k with the best dailies, plus buy all the shrine perks for another 600k so that’s just short of 2 million which is barely enough to prestige once. Giving people an option to hoard items and go straight to prestige 3 without ever playing a game would be a lot different

I feel like his list was fairly accurate. There are only a few maps I am happy to see when I am playing killer, and a ton where I groan the second I load in.
At green and purple ranks I don't feel like the map matters too much, but when you hit red ranks and all the survivors know how to loop and know all the infinite spots? Gross. Better hope you are someone who can deal with god windows or brought bamboozle.
Way too many red rank survivors out there who just run straight to the infinites the second you see them. Not that I can blame them, but it's annoying to deal with as killer and almost every map has them in abundance.
As a killer and survivor player the “infinite,” are sticking point for me. As a killer they’re annoying to do and it’s annoying that so many players are one trick ponies who run to the loops immediately every time you see them.
On the other hand, it’s their best chance of living so you can’t blame them for doing it and I do it sometimes myself. Although usually I “let,” killers have a fair chance on normal loops.
-
@chibikoi said:
if you make the maps more fair to the killers those who are already really good like spirit will be better, hence why they don't focus only on the map rework, you can say whatever you want but the reason that red ranks are filled with spirit is because she is the best (aside from nurse, but who wants to have to practice 10x as much to get even with spirit?) and buffing every killer a little still means that the tier list is the same, not counting the problem that any kind of map rework will most likely buff the outliers more than any other weak/avarege killer
map reworks/ buffs and nerfs are required to make a good game
I agree with your first point, if there’s any way it can all be done simultaneously it should be nerf spirit, maybe nurse freddy and billy can be slightly reworked? And the map rework will buff the other kills a bit at the same time so nearly all the killers will be close if not the same on power level

Well what else can you except from a small team? I like for the updates to come out much faster (I'm on switch version and we STILL DON'T HAVE PATCH 3.3.0).
But consider the following: They have to go through with analyzing which maps deserve to be changed, then going through multiple redrafts of new versions of those maps then getting those new versions tested out (likey by fog whispers) and seeing if they pass, if they do great they can start modeling and getting them in the next update if not they go back to the drawing board.
It may take long but I rather be promised something then get nothing.
Pull people from the cosmetics team? Hire more people for this specific team?

@UberMorpth said:
They already are working on some of the maps as we speak on their roadmap another map is going to be reworked, I can at least agree they should of done this a long time ago but at least they are finally doing work on them.
But I have a problem with the maps that you listed as problematic, aside from Haddonfield which isn't necessary bad for killers if it's just normal survivor loadouts as it only really becomes the worst map if any of them run Balanced Landing, but all MacMillan and Coldwind maps?
I can really only think of Ironwork's with the god window and possibly Suffocation Pit if the middle is filled with connected T L walls or single pallet tiles or if the back window spawns, otherwise the other MacMillan maps are fine and I actually argue that Shelter Woods needs a rework for how barren it is of tiles and pallets for survivors.
Farm maps also became much better once the tiles were no longer see through, so really the worst one now is Thompson House mainly due to each side potentially having connected tiles which shouldn't be possible, the other ones only can be rough If they have the god window spawns.
I'm more confused as to why you never mention maps like Ormond, Lery's, The Game, Mother's Dwelling, Disturbed Ward as I actually find those to be the biggest offender's for just terrible and or boring maps for each side.
You’re right, a lot of maps are actually fine unless the survivor has Balanced in which case a few maps become downright OP with loops.
In regards to the map rework I hate to be that guy, but the reworks are wayyyyyyy too slow. One map every 4-6 months mean it will take them years years to do all of them, at least 1.5 or 2 years even for the problem maps.
-
If they did change it I’d like to see them make more perk based dailies like the archive has, then if you don’t have the perk you can delete it and get a new one. If you don’t have either I guess it’s wait til tmw. Or only use base perks instead of DLC related.
Things like “reach 3 stacks of dark devotion,” and you could do it on any killer.
-
I agree 100% if they fixed the maps it would automatically bring the other killers up a bit and I would not care one little bit if they nerfed the ever loving heck out of Spirit after that

The thing with cleansing is that she actually loses her infective capability, she has to go to the fountain and away from a survivor/objective and you can use it as a quick heal. Making her into Huntress really doesn't give her that much strength when she loses objective pressure.
TLDR: would you rather your team have no mither, or would you rather play against Huntress?
A really good summary, especially the part of your whole team having no mither.
Also, I think a lot of survivors are not as good at looping as they think they are. They see Puppers, Tofu or whoever looping killers for half the game and think it’s that easy. Then they get chased and go down in 10 seconds

Hillbilly is the no.1 most balanced killer in the game he’s not getting changed
I don’t think the thread is about him getting buffed/nerfed it’s about how his hits are or are not connecting due to dedicated servers... honestly it’s happening on all hits, window vaults most often, but since it’s a one shot down it feels worse when you get a ghost billy kiss or if you get hit by a billy saw that shouldn’t have

I agree! This makes it impossible for the current player base above rank 10 to introduce the game to their friends, even if you buy the game for your friend and try to play the game with them, they will get angry and frustrated at the huge skill difference and probably never play it again. (as i am usually red ranked)
I know people are saying they can play solo to try and get to a closer rank but they don't care to do that, they just want to play a game with their friend.
All this does is make the me have to derank all the way down to at least 15 so they will actually enjoy getting into the game as i have.
I see this a lot, and it’s a valid point, BUT no one ever gives and answer about what to do for new killers? A rank 16-20 killer playing against a 5, 20, 18, 18 is going to struggle with that 5 and won’t be smart enough to give up that chase

Standard procedure with this kinda stuff... make it super hard or grindy so people will spend money to just skip it.
It’s actually costing them money, from me anyways. If I could have gotten near finished myself I will have gladly paid 10 for premium and whatever it cost me to buy the other remaining tiers of thats how it works.

Yeah I think both. They don't give a ######### about solos (like look since when we ask to buff solos a little bit and nothing done) but they also don't know how sweaty red ranks play. They are in brown ranks, so how can they now.
Some of them claim to play in the red ranks, I’ve seen them at least reaching those ranks before... but I would bet dollar to donuts they wouldn’t be able to complete the killer challenges, and could only do the survivor in SWF
