It was a fake leak that got a little bit of traction. Can't blame OP for speculating on it.
And regardless, an original fire chapter would still be super cool, and I'll be anticipating one in the future.
I agree there, a Pyromaniac killer or something like that could be fun. 🙂
-
My off hand guess is the anniversary chapter 24 will be either original or Jason since the Jason license is finally apparently available and I’m positive Behaviour would love to get him in the game. (I’m not sure exactly how he’d be all that different from Trapper, but Hillbilly and Bubba are similar so that’s not a dealbreaker.)
-
I know you what mean about liking to mix things up. I actually intentionally prestige my characters mainly to reset all their perks and start from scratch with a new set. It forces me to play around with perk combinations I otherwise would normally think of trying. 🙂

Maybe there's a glitch, but that isn't the case when I played it the other day. While I was solving it, I was getting chains shot at me and interrupting the action.
Are you sure it wasn’t Pinhead manually shooting a chain at you? A common tactic is Pinhead walks toward you when you are solving the box and shoots a chain when they get in range.
FYI the last patch included a note that said it fixed a bug where Chain Hunt would shoot chains at you while you solved the box, so that shouldn’t happen.

What's a flashlight-camper??
Just a guess but I think he’s talking about someone who goes out of their way to get flashlight saves even at the expense of gen progression, particularly in conjunction with a swf teammate on comms who can give the heads up when the killer is going to down them during the chase, or when for instance they’re planning to duck into a locker and the flashlighter can get an automatic save during the locker grab animation.
I don’t think the poster is claiming there’s anything morally wrong with that, they’re just happy they beat a coordinated team I think.
-
If Dead Hard is too powerful it’s because it is now possible to both use it to react to a swing as the animation starts and 100% avoid a hit AND use it to gain distance preemptively to reach a pallet or vault. Either of those effects on their own are quite good, and both effects combined make Dead Hard one of the best survivor perks in the game currently.
If the data verifies that Dead Hard is too powerful now that it’s working properly, the fix is probably to reduce or remove the added movement distance it grants. Just make it a free miss on an attack with little or no distance. It would still probably be quite good simply if it avoided hits and wasn’t useful for distance. Just my opinion though.
-
Remember is ok in principle but the delay is probably a bit short, and it’s not obvious why it doesn’t affect the Obsession. Just for comparison
- Remember me makes opening doors take up to 16 seconds longer, but the Obsession doesn’t get this penalty
- No Way Out blocks the doors for up to 60 seconds, and even tells you which door someone tried to open
No Way Out is just clearly objectively better at stalling the doors. If you had to choose between the two I can’t imagine anybody ever picking Remember Me over No Way Out.
I’d be perfectly ok with Remember Me getting a buff and maybe even No Way Out getting a slight time nerf to bring them more in lone with each other.
The good news for killers looking to just play a long Exit stage game is these two do stack, so if you use both you’ll get an extra 76 seconds worth of time at the end of the game (unless it’s the Obsession opening the door in which case it’s only 60 seconds). But yeah, Remember Me could probably use a buff to make it even longer.
-
Just FYI gens don’t regress while they’re blocked. They still probably pair together since Ruin will tend to be destroyed before Grim Embrace goes off, but if anybody is thinking they synergize in a way that Ruin is regressing for 40 seconds after a Grim Embrace that’s not the case.

I really like that idea! Kind of like a reverse ghostface where you don't want to be looking at the Killer! The only downside about that is survivor mains would complain about her being too op since she would destroy survivors in loops since they can't look at her.
Thanks, it’s actually an idea I suggested before for a Medusa killer, but it works for the girl from Ringu too. 🙂
As far as being too strong or annoying on loops, I don’t think it would be overpowered in principle, it all depends on the details like how long you have to have her in view before you become cursed and exactly what condition or effect happens when you get cursed. Also you can hear killers and see the red stain without looking directly at them, so you can use that to help in loops. (Spine Chill is a thing that could help too.)
-
I’m thinking something to do with marking or cursing survivors so something bad happens. One idea I like is survivors who watch her for too long become cursed with Hindered or Exposed, so she’d be a killer that you actively want to avoid looking at which I think would make for a pretty tense ability for survivors. Imagine trying to keep an eye out for her and running away from her but also trying not to have her in your field of view.
She also could have televisions on the maps (in the places Jigsaw boxes might appear for example) which she can teleport through.
-
-
Also for killer, the Butcher from Midnight Meat Train. Heck, he literally hangs people from hooks, he was born to do his job!
-
Everybody is suggesting killers, but what about more Bruce Campbell skins?
- Prince of Thieves survivor skin (for the Greek collection)
- Bubba Ho Tep

Lesley Vernon: Behind the mask
That movie is awesome. 🙂 I love the scene where he talks about how much cross training he has to do because he has to be able to catch up to the victim but make it look like he’s walking.
-
I get why Corrupt is popular, I tend not to use it personally though since it can make the early game kind of dull if the survivors just hide. Typically I find survivors early on by listening for them working on the gens, and Corrupt makes it more likely they won’t be working on gens so I won’t hear them doing anything and nothing will happen for the first minute of play. I’d just as soon let them get on gens earlier so I can find them earlier and get into the actual fun part of the game which is chasing them around. 🙂
So Corrupt is effective, I just don’t enjoy using it.

How do you know they left? What if it was a power outage or game crash? Either way, the DC penalty should never go past 5 minutes anyway. If someone doesn't want to continue a match they shouldn't have to without fear of a stacking penalty.
Totally disagree, I have no sympathy for people who ruin multiple matches by disconnecting early. If you’re getting large DC penalties from intentionally disconnecting multiple times then you’re the problem, not the bans.
-
-
-
I have a bunch of Prestige 1 and some Prestige 2s but I don’t remember any being Prestige 3 off-hand.
-
I’m hoping for something like if a survivor looks at her too long they become cursed with Hindered or Exposed. That would be a killer that you actively try and avoid looking at which would be kind of cool!
Another possibility is she has the ability to mark survivors, or possibly the current Obsession is automatically marked, and she has some sort of edge against the cursed target.
And finally maybe they’ll put televisions or wells, etc, around that map that she can teleport through.
The only thing official they’ve said so far was just the interview with Polygon where Cote said they want to make her unique and suspenseful compared to typical killers. So I definitely don’t think it’ll be a Spirit or Nurse type ability but something more along the lines of curses.
-
Well the trailer does end with static, so hopefully they’ll go more with the staticky look? We’ll see though. 🤷♂️
-
I’m still playing only killer and I play as much as I have.

Technically, even though the Trickster was released this year, it was the last chapter in LAST years DBD roadmap
Either way you look at it, out of the last four killers two were licensed and two were original.

Thats actually a good idea. I wanted to watch Ringu but didn't want any spoilers for the book, but ill just watch the bastardized version. Do you know if it still has ads if you have YouTube premium?
Probably no ads with premium is my guess. 🤷♂️
-
I’m thinking of rewatching The Ring. It’s free on Youtube but has ads every five minutes so kind of annoying there.
-
Nurse is a weird outlier in that she has an extremely steep learning curve but for players who can play her consistently well she is extremely powerful, maybe the best killer in the game. The overall kill rate for her is therefore low because she’s very hard to win with without regular practice, but her win rate is much higher at higher rated matches.
Personally I just don’t find her fun to play though, staring at her feet all match is super annoying. I don’t think she needs a buff but I would love to see a tweak where she gets to keep her head up while stunned after a blink, and if that makes her a bit too powerful then just slow her refresh down slightly to compensate.

I'm not playing him unless they bring his quickscope back. It got removed for BS reasons, and I'm not gonna play a worse version of a killer who was already weak.
I’d be ok if they let him turn at normal speed while aiming. I don’t think I’d mind the slower draw as much if I could at least swivel afterward to correct the aim.
-
Never heard of Propnight, read the reviews on Steam and the negative reviews are pretty damn harsh, think I’ll skip it.

No they need to take him back to the way he was. Quickscoping is all he had.
They’re not going to give him back his quickscope, they very specifically wanted to eliminate that mechanic. If they buff him in the future it would be something else, maybe making him 115% speed for instance or giving him a longer melee attack range since he has a bayonette, etc.
-
Or sort by most recently played would work.
-
I can think of a couple of possible interesting game mechanics
- Since curses are her schtick, it could be that she somehow marks a survivor and after a while something bad happens to them.
- Another possibility is that if a survivors looks at her too long they become cursed, such as if you stare at her too long you become Hindered or Exposed or hallucinate, etc. (I’ve said elsewhere a Medusa style killer where you actively want to avoid looking at them could be pretty cool, and it could fit the Curse theme here too.)
- They may have televisions or wells, etc, around the map that she can teleport between.
-
The main reason this happens is presumably if someone has been in queue a while they eventually just get put into the next available match rather than keep waiting for people close to their MMR. Both very high and very low MMR players can end up having this happen since there are fewer similar outlier players of those ratings to match with in general. Similarly if you have a lobby and someone lobby dodges I think the system sometimes fills the gap with whoever has been in queue the longest (maybe) so that it doesn’t have a lobby of four people waiting a really long time for a perfect replacement.
Note that neither of the above results have anything to do with whether or not MMR is an accurate representation of how good a player you are. The MMR could be a 100% assessment of your ability as a player and you would still have the system dealing with the above problems of outliers with no close matches and people leaving lobbies.
-
I don’t know how good or bad he is but his turning speed while aiming feels annoyingly slow, I just don’t enjoy playing him that much at this point because of that. (Prior to the nerf you could shoot from the hip, sp you could “aim” by walking toward where you wanted to shoot and then just fire in that direction. It felt a lot more fluid.)
-
Just because there’s a Texas Chainsaw video game in the works doesn’t necessarily mean DbD will lose the license. Licensed characters can appear in multiple video games. Heck, Pyramid Head and Nemesis are literally characters from other video game franchises. It all depends on the details of the legal agreement.

True but we'd probably get Samara as Sadako herself isn't as broken into the American market as Kayako.
They already said in the official trailer it’s dlc based on the “original story Ringu”.

I'm inclined to agree with this. I think it all depends on map positioning as well - if I'm chasing someone and they're in a particularly strong set-up even if they're injured I'll often leave them, especially if I know there's other survivors in weaker map positions...it's just wasting time to continue that chase as you lose so much pressure.
Additionally sometimes if you break off of a survivor you can’t catch they sometimes follow you hoping to get you to chase them some more if they think you can’t catch them. In which case you’ve got two people not doing gens for the price of one chase.

This or some kind of licensing deal (more likely IMO).
Might be a coincidence but 2022 is also the 20th anniversary of the movie The Ring, it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a marketing tie in next year.

I'm talking about since chapter 23 is licensed I'm surprised they're gonna make chapter 24 licensed as well (i'm speculating bc ch 24 is the anniversary event and that's what they always do). So we will have two in a row from that.
Nemesis and Pinhead were also two in a row, it happens sometimes. 🤷♂️

As much as i like Licensed chapters, i do find originals very interesting.
We've had only one original chapter this year, and i know the birthday chapters in June are usually Licensed, but i think it would be nice if an Original chapter took the spot for the 6th year
We had Trickster and Artist this year.

People already give up all the time, and the DC penalty doesn't change that. It just forces people to waste time and go through the motions of slogging through a fake match. Just ask a certain Laurie PfP user on here. And yeah if it's turned off there'll be rampant DCing like last time but I feel like people would mellow out over time.
TBH after encountering yet another cheater the other day and being punished for taking the only reasonable action (and being expected to make a report, which I didn't even bother to do this time) I've lost all motivation to play the game. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
No, they won’t “mellow out over time”, that’s hogwash. Every single time the DC penalty has been turned off there’s a massive number of disconnects, and when it goes back on there are a lot less. And before the automated DC bans were in place there were tons of DCs as well.
The benefits of banning people who disconnect far outweigh the downsides.

I cannot even conceive of how she'll work. She's gonna be the least physically intimidating killer for sure, considering that she's a Japanese teenager.
Trickster’s not exactly intimidating looking, Sadaka is at least really creepy.

That screen shot is obviously fake, the survivors aren’t tea-bagging Samara on the way down.

Damn. I forgot he even existed.
But still, he was at the start of the year. We got two licensed chapters, then one and a half original, and now another licensed chapter, (and the one after that will most likely also be licensed since it'll be DbD's anniversary.)
Could be a big licensed killer for the anniversary, it’ll be a while before we find out. 🤷♂️

Trickster was also this year.

Yeah, you’re right, Sadako is the Japanese character’s name.

I'm not too excited.
It feels like all we've gotten this year is licensed killers, and most of them just aren't that fun.
Not to mention, I'm just not that a big fan of the Ring movies.
We literally just got Artist.
