The problem is it would still be terrible.

It's currently just extremely situational, with a limited amount of activation times, and all for a mediocre effect.

With this change it gives it a side effect that's not so situational so you'll at least get some more reliable use out of it in between those situation circumstances.

wait isn't situational perks like Dead Man's Switch a synergy perk? Meaning its supposed to be paired with other perks to get the most out of them?

Also I know that it still block the generators even if multiple people are working on it. So if 3 people are working on a gen and 1 stop working on it the generator will be blocked for every survivor.

  • Wouldn't a simple fix be to just increase the activation time to 60 seconds? 45 seconds seems lack luster.

  • I have tried it. It doesn't count.

Survivors are a team. Killers are alone?

One side is also clearly in short supply. If their complaints weren't valid how do you explain their absence?

I don't think the amount of either side does or should matter. Killers can make really weird complaints and survivors can make completely valid complaints.

From what I have observed it seems that if your a survivor your complaints are automatically invalid while if your killer your complaints are automatically supported and valid. I could be wrong.

Most killers are also bad at this game. They keep whining about DS and UB and DH.

I think you unintentionally bring up a good point.

Genuine question, what makes killers complaints about perks valid but survivors complaints about perks invalid?

The worst case scenario with undying is it getting cleansed first. Now worst case scenario, is only case scenario. Doesn't sound all that great to me.

I would wager the trade off with tokens being kept will make survivors complain about devour hope. Leading to it being nerfed, despite it being a fair hex perk. They always have to have something to complain about, and I guarantee you devour will be next.

Wait correct me if I'm wrong but isn't undying supposed to be a place holder for your other hex perk? It doesn't matter if its cleansed first right because your main hex is still up?

  • I'm going to play devils advocate here and say that there are good things that come with the undying ruin nerf. It helps with the problem of having your totem taken at the beginning of the game. It also leads to a more variety in perk combos and usage since it works with token totems now like lullaby and devour hope, this is good for both killers and survivors as it leads to more unique gameplay, meaning it will be more fun. Also the aura reading is still there which is good as it help better to patrol your dull totems and see survivors easier, which can potentially help in chases.

Although I do acknowledge your concerns.

  • Wouldn't having legion see blood and scratch marks be a bit much?

I wish the Devs would just finally balance the game around SWF and the fact that they are almost always on comms. Don't hate the players, it's not their fault that they want to play with their friends and use an advantage that the devs promote.

I feel its impossible. Like seriously is there any way to balance swf without it seeming punishing to them?

Your not wrong. Against a god nurse, there's nothing you can do except gen rush and try to get out before she kills everyone. Thankfully god nurses are exceptionally rare. I do feel Nurse is the strongest killer but I think as a whole, most survivors never faced a good Nurse and never learned to play against one. In the video above, only one person was actually trying to break LoS or double backing to juke the Nurse. The rest were treating her like an M1 killer. Looping pallets. That's kind of why I like her. The survivors have to change things up to survive. She is actually feared! As a survivor I like playing against a good nurse. Keeps me on my toes instead of the boring "find this jungle gym, loop it till I need to drop a pallet. Rinse+repeat". I never feel bad about getting killed by a good Nurse because I feel I was outplayed. It takes time and dedication to get good with her.

A good Nurse does make solo survivor even more unbearable. I will admit that. That's probably one of the reasons the devs haven't fixed her. I still think the primary reason is negligence.

I agree with you. I like playing against killers that change things up as well like Nurse and Deathslinger.

I see what you mean, even though i don't agree. But here's the thing :

You cannot destroy a killer with bugs and call that balancing! Either make her power stronger or weaker (but that's another discussion) but it has to work! Consistantly!

Especially on a killer where you have to be really precise. They can't throw us a killer and say "hey guys here's the nurse, here's her power but.... Sometimes it'll work, sometimes not, sometimes.... Kinda?"

Do you know what i mean?

I see what you mean although I'm unsure of what would happen if the bugs was fixed. I feel it further buff god nurses.

  • Can I be honest (and please don't write off what I am going to say)

I don't think i can take any nurse thread seriously due to the fact that in the right and capable hands she is the strongest killer in the game even with bugs. She can completely ignore everything the survivors have against killers.

I have seen people destroy survivor with her. And played against good nurse that have destroyed me. Add the fact that Latency and certain maps give her the best advantage and you absolutely can't win if against a good one.

I probably will sound ridiculous but I feel the bugs makes her more balanced to play against. I could be wrong and want your opinion on the matter.

You're right, it's not OP, but it is uncounterable. Most people play at least with one friend, it isn't hard at all to make this work because I make it work every game I run it. The devs themselves said they never want survivors to feel totally safe, that's why I think this perk combo is problematic. Honestly the only thing I would do is give it a 2s requirement before you can use it, just so you can't hide in a pallet and instantly break yourself free.

I still wouldn't say its uncounterable. Since nothing is stopping the killer from Slugging you and chasing your friends. In this scenario your still not safe as you have the issue of the bleed out timer, and Its still two people off gens so the killer still has pressure. Also its not 100% guaranteed to work as I've seen the pallet miss if the killer is quick enough.

I think your change would make the perk useless since by the time the 2 seconds has passed the killer has moved from the pallet.

Also sidenote but isn't something thats uncounterable means its op?

  • @HollowsGrief said:

I don't think this combo is OP but at the same time it kind of is OP. You have a single survivor distract you with the threat of a pallet save or flashlight save and the downed person becomes completely unhookable. I don't think survivors should ever be in a situation where they are completely immune to being picked up. At least DS is on a 60s timer, but if you get power struggle up and running the killer literally has to just let you get revived.

I think this combo needs looking into, it's not busted OP but it has zero counter-play which is a problem. And before anyone says "just don't slug!" That isn't always possible, if he goes down in a pallet and a teammate is right next to him I obviously can't pick him up right away.

To your point what are the odds of a teammate near you to get a pallet stun? Its not in the best interest of the survivor to be within close proximity of another survivor at all times. Its also countered by Infectious fright and too a lesser extent blood favor.

To say this perk is op is hyperbolic.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

I find it funny that people use that and then will probably yell at BHVR when Power Struggle no longer works with flip flop because it's on the list of known issues for the Chapter 18 patch notes. You're supposed to wiggle in order to use it. But good for you, make use for it until it gets patched if ever.

I would probably be annoyed because it would become completely useless and niche if it did not work with filp flop. Like seriously what are the odds of the killer walking through a pallet while wiggling enough to activate it? Its a synergy perk not a perk you can use on its own.

  • I hope its original. I like original chapters more than licensed ones.

  • I think I have a buff to overwhelming presence.

Your presence alone instils great fear. Survivors within your Terror Radius suffer from inefficiency. Affected Survivors' Item Consumption rates are increased by 50%

When you start chase with another survivor they have a 10/20/30% chance to drop their item.

ffs when i mean ''bullying'' i dont mean changing the word irl, i obviously mean ingame. I dont ######### redifine irl words, i define the usage in dbd. i didnt think i had to make this clear.

Obviously I know you don't mean changing the word in real life. I was having a conversation with a guy about bullying and video games and whether or not it it considered bullying. I wasn't even talking to you.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1895700#Comment_1895700

correct! thanks for pointing out. But the only thing killers can do to bm, basically shake their heads and hit you on hook. So im not in position to accurately describe the ''killers being bullied''

can you give your own definition to assist me?

Earlier i said bodyblocking a survivor in a spot to prevent them from moving and playing the game, slugging survivors and intentionally not picking them up in order to let them bleedout, and certain killers can bully more then others like Ghostface and pig who can teabag at survivors,( if its toxic for survivors to do it then killers shouldn't do it either), willingly working with survivors to gang up on and kill other survivors, and being hurtful and mean in the chat.

These things in my opinion is also bullying.

  • I have a idea for a game mode and it involves items. The survivors will be given a certain item possible with a specific addon to find. There are multiple chest around the map. The survivors has to find their specific item before the killer kills them or before the timer runs out. Survivors with their items will be reveled to the killer and the killer must stop them. The killer can knock the item out of your hand. Survivors cannot leave the match under any circumstances unless the have their items. This idea is till in the works

There is also one I play with my friends that involves pig. What we do is have someone play pig and put traps on all survivors heads. The survivors complete the last generator and have the trap activate the last person to get their trap off has to then try and escape the killer. The other survivors are immune and have to leave.

No you don't have to apologize, its my ######### post who put you in this position and unlike the other sjw troll who were answering, you were very polite and civilized in your answer and I'm sure you understand as well as me what real bullying can be.

Tho its true cyberbullying can be a thing cause social network have repercussion in the real life, VG is another thing I think (but I can be wrong).

What you descibe, I consider it more as a "Toxic" gameplay/use of mechanics, especially t-bagging (both side), hitting people on hook, sandbagging and playing with the killer as survivors also that trash talking in the end game chat but its not really bullying cause you can immediatly move on after the game and there is almost no chance you play with/face them again soon, bullying/harassment is constant and not a one-time thing unless all people in the game do the same but I don't think all killers/survivors are toxic (in my experience), its a minority of player in this game who do this things and some not even in a toxic way cause the lack of communication between the 2 role (clicky clicky and sometime t-bagging are a way to aggro the killer as nodding for the killer can be a way to say wp/nice chase or i'll give you hatch if you don't wiggle).

I apologize again to you for taking it out on you.

I can agree that those actions are toxic. But I think what's best in determining what's bullying is the negative effect it has on people. Bullying weather it's online or not has really psychology and physical effects on the person. And this game can have some nasty effects on people. You ever had a killer game in which the survivors were so toxic you felt bad or wanted to stop playing, or a survivor game in which the killer was being toxic that you decided to be toxic to the next killer? Or even had someone insult you in the chat that made you feel angry? The effect of the toxic behavior from the survivor or killer, or in a broader sense the opposing side in a video game is why I would consider it Bullying. In short its Bullying if the toxic behavior has a negative impact on you in anyway.

And thank you for not calling me sjw I actually really appreciate it.

  • I think the only buff that should be made to DS when it inevitably gets changed is to make it so that after you stun the killer you leave not scratch makes, blood trail or grunts of pain so that you can get away easier. For the duration of the stun.

  • @Nossy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1895783#Comment_1895783

Kinda what i did cause i saw real harrassment irl and when people talk about bullying in a VG, its no sense to me.

But thats true i was a bit agressive in my answer cause i'm fed up people using this word lightly. Your question seemed more a rhetoric one to me but i may have assume too much the purpose of it and I apologize to you for.

Like i said myself, bullying is a pov thing, so anyone can see bullying in their own way. To me bullying don't even exist in VG (unless the guy relentlessly send you message and even that you can block it), bullying is a real life thing and can't be avoided, that why its linked to harrassment and can really harm people.

Now, maybe I'm ignorant in this matter so can you explain to me what bullying in this game mean to you, what behavior you consider harassement ? (killer & survivors side)

I can understand your concerns of bullying and I'm sorry if I came off as aggressive as well.

I think to answer your questions bullying in video games can be equal to cyberbullying since it occurs on line rather then in person. To me a survivor bullies by teabagging nonstop at the killer, flashlight clicking, and saying hurtful things in the chat and messages. Killer bullying is blocking the survivors in a way so that they can't leave. Hitting a survivor while they are on the hook if they did not do anything. Certain killers can bully more then others so if your a Ghostface or Pig you can teabag. Slugging the survivors to make them bleedout instead of hooking them. And saying hurtful things in messages and chat.

In my opinion this is bullying, and both sides do it.

I should also mention that survivors can bully other survivors by bodyblocking them to get killed, farming them off hook, working with the killer, teabagging at them, stealing their items and making noise by them in order to get the killer to where they are.

  • Why do you limit the definition of bullying only too survivors? Killers can legitimately be bullies as well.

  • @NomiNomad said:

I really, really have no idea how they would even do this. Our Ghostface isn't from Scream, he's an original character.

They'd either have to make ANOTHER Killer (that couldn't be Ghostface, because we already have him) or she'd be a solo character.

They could potentially expand on the lore for their original Ghostface and include someone similar to Sidney.

I believe this was the last official road map, the two points that i despise is that "Game Balancing" and "Game Health" should be a much more focused goal. I'm tired of new things being put out and old stuff not being balanced to work properly, fixing old things should make adding new things a more seamless transition.

I think the fact that a road map is gone indicate that they are just making up jobs as they go along and have no plans for the year.

  • As a survivor main I can 90% agree that DS should be nerfed to be more fair. I have witnessed times in which DS has caused killers their kill and after spending some time on the forum I can see why it's frustrating.

However I have a concern. I'm concerned about overnerfing it and it sometimes seems like that's the direction many killers want to go down. I'm also concerned with the fact that nerfs suggested can destroy legitimate instances of tunneling.

If you think my concerns are unfonded please let me know.

  • So interesting whats his killer power?

  • @ulquiorra_cifer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1889078#Comment_1889078

It does matter. They are making themselves literally invincible, and the second you leave they go to a gen.

Then to fix that all you would need to do is make 1 of 3 changes

    1. To shorten the timer but pause it when being chased.

    2. Deactivates when someone else is hooked

    3. Deactivate when doing an objective.

Making DS deactivate if a person goes into a locker would overnerf the perk with shuts down legitimate cases of tunneling. Which is bad.

  • @ulquiorra_cifer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1889057#Comment_1889057

But if the survivor instantly goes into the locker when the killer isn't chasing them, that isn't fair, because no survivor should be completely invincible. If the killer is actually tunneling and they go into the locker, THATS fair, but if the killer isn't and they go into the locker they are a scumbag.

If you aren't chasing them then what's the problem? It shouldn't matter weather or not they went into a locker. If they are in a locker then they are not on a gen which works out in your favor. So again whats the problem?

  • @ulquiorra_cifer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1888575#Comment_1888575

Ok, thanks. To answer the OP's question, no, this is not ok. If a survivor abuses the ds locker strat, they are a scumbag. This feature should not even be in the game.

I don't agree though. If the survivors has been unhooked and the killer did not chase any other survivor but them and downed them, the killer tunneled them correct. The fact that they entered the locker or not doesn't matter. The killer still tunneled and therefore the stun was justified.

  • @bm33 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1889001#Comment_1889001

It means killer didn't camp, it doesn't mean the killer isn't tunneling.

I think the problem that arise here is the definition of tunneling. My change seems to deal with pure tunneling, which is tunneling the survivors that just got off the hook without chasing and downing another survivor. I'm not sure if what your describing is pure tunneling.

  • @bm33 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1888722#Comment_1888722

In solo lobbies most times a survivor will be unhooked as a killer is carrying/hooking another survivor, killer then heads straight back to down the recently unhooked survivor. If that survivor is running DS it immediately would deactivate due to timing.

That should be it. The fact that the killer hooked another survivors means they did not tunnel. And The fact that the survivors did not unhook there teammate in time, is on the team not on the killer.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1888617#Comment_1888617

And if you chase 2 survivors and hook them then find that survivor on a gen and they jump into a locker and ds you? Was it justified then?

No of course not. That's why DS should be changed to deactivate when another survivor is hooked.

The situation that I am describing and what OP seem to be describing is pure tunneling. Its not different then downing the recently unhooked survivors and picking them up.

  • If you follow the unhooked survivor and they jump into a locker and you take them out you still tunneled them meaning the stun was justified.

  • I would say frank legion or deathslinger maybe, and possibly Ghostface if I see under the mask.
